Shadowbringers 5.3 Spoilers!
((Nope, no clue why I'm posting this this late.  oh. Right.  because writing bug finally FINALLY bit and I got carried away.  Have 1447 rambling words from G’raha’s POV. hehehe.))
Tumblr media
The door shut behind him, and G’raha stopped in his stride.  Had he really just said that to her in front of everyone?  The sound of the door closing had muffled everything, and he knew his voice wouldn’t carry over the din, but really?  Did he have to admit that to everyone including himself now?
I have, and will always, love you.
He had glanced over his shoulder at the last moment, and in seeing her face–most likely for the last time ever–it couldn’t resist blurting it out.  Had there been tears in her eyes?  Was it just his imagination?  It was a silly thing to say, knowing he wouldn’t see her again, but nonetheless true–and she deserved the truth even if she couldn’t hear it.  Shaking his red locks out of his eyes, he looked up towards the staircase once more.  This is where he belonged, he knew that.  His entire soul had thrummed with happiness as the doors closed, his contract with the Tower and the spell tied to it clicking into place.
Taking a deep breath, he strode into his new home once more, every step deeping the spell and his connection with the Tower, able to reach out and feel all the moving parts–still working and functional after all these years.  Quietly he told the Tower to dim the lights behind him, slowly saving bits of energy for when the world was ready.
The floor he had chosen for his quarters had been quite an interesting discovery.  There was a large antichamber with a large polished crystal on a dias.  To one side was a control room for the Tower, giving a more direct and visual approach to the finer points that might need adjustment.  On the other side was another set of rooms, which had all been stripped empty for the time being, but were more than well suited for a set of living quarters.  It was there he had set his cot, and dragged what meager belongings he had the night before.  He had also piled in what books he thought he could get away with borrowing indefinitely, copies of tomes no one would miss.
Entering the room, sleep felt even more enticing than it had below.  The magic was taking hold faster than he had even thought, stasis slowly enveloping the interior of the Tower.   G’raha sat on the edge of the cot, a yawn catching in his throat as he stretched before grabbing one of his favorite books.
Perhaps–perhaps just a few pages before turning in for the night (years?) wouldn’t be such a bad thing.  He wasn’t honestly sure if he would awaken the next day or the next century, or whom would be the one at his side when he awoke.  The thought was chilling despite the excitement of the mystery the new dawn would bring.
Tumblr media
The dawn brought pain.  Suffering the likes G’raha had never seen, and never had wanted to see.  This wasn’t supposed to be what happened–the Tower was supposed to awaken and unlock when civilization was ready for him, not when it was the last desperate grasp generations after he had fallen to slumber clutching his book of faire tales.  The world needed the Tower though, needed him, so what was he to do but answer the call?  As he had predicted, Karo had become his shining star, guiding his every step along the way, and the steps of those that needed her most.  It wasn’t a surprise, yet overwhelming in the scope that she had kept the hope alive in those that needed her guidance most.
What the Ironworks of this Age wanted to do was beyond anything G’raha had imagined possible, much less to be a part of.  Thinking of their predecessors, his friends, and keeping his Star in his mind, every move and thought he tried to emulate what they would do in that instance, moving forward to dare to jump time and space for the slimmest of chances to save her.  How could he not after all the courage she had given him through their time together, leading him to his destiny that was growing stranger and bigger than he had ever imagined.
Tumblr media
The journey to the First went smoother than G’raha had hoped, yet upon arrival, he realized once more that he had landed not into a peaceful land, but another World on the brink of survival.  He wasn’t sure if he even slept those first few days after arriving, piecing together what he could of the world, finally realizing he was decades away from his goal, peering at the Source through the portal in the room he was now calling the Occular.  Time they had found was sporadic between the two worlds, him landing on the First, checking in on the Source to see that the same day hadn’t moved–for almost a moon on the First.  It was alarming and doing the math, he realized that he might be waiting decades before a good moment to call Karoiseka and the others to his new world arrived.
The Tower once more was to be his salvation, and with trepidation, he bound himself to it irrevocably.  The crystal burned his hand where the pact was first made, creeping up to his shoulder already as he used it’s magic haphazardly to build a sanctuary for the poor lost souls that flocked to his doorstep.  Under leadership given to him unasked for, he built a city for them, from memories of his past, with hope to guide them to a better future.
Years slipped away, research being his constant companion, time slowly syncing into place and rushing to meet him.  Not once did he lose sight of his goal, nor his Star as he watched for glimpses of her through his Portal.  It was as fickle as time itself though, only showing random areas of the world with sometimes nothing of interest in sight.  He slowly learned how to focus it, and as the years flew by, stationed it to look in on the Mor Dhona plaza most often.  Despite “his” city nearly running itself, his studies did not end, continuing to work on the spells needed to pull her to the First–and pray they worked well.
Tumblr media
An amazing adventure later, G’raha followed his Star up the stairs to the Tower once more, hope and fear in equal measure being in his heart as their foe used his own blood against them, slowly stealing more of G’raha’s flesh with every summon.  He would not give up a single moment if he had his way, there was only the pang of slight regret in seeing the pain her Karo’s eyes when she realized who he was those moons ago now, as he was ready to give his all to save her–to save them all and end his chapter in this tale.  That he was allowed to continue, allowed to stand at her side–to love her and be loved in return–well, that was beyond his wildest dreams.
He kissed her sweetly and bade her promise him that it wasn’t the end.  He needed that reassurance, that belief back into himself as he had given all his heart to her.  This had to work.  He had reached out his hand to fate’s offer and as the crystal enveloped him, he slumbered once more in the warmth of the crystal in her hand.
Tumblr media
It surely wasn’t time to awaken yet–he had just shut his eyes!  Warmth reached to every limb as G’raha stretched, eyes still shut for the moment.  This didn’t feel like his bed in–camp? The Crystarium?--Mor Dhona?  Crimson eyes opened, blinking away tiredness, and locked onto Sapphires watching his every move.  How was she here?  He had locked the Tower.  He was locked in Crystal.  It didn’t matter, she was here.  Reaching up a hand, he stopped to stare at the fingers of his right hand, now without a speck of blue to be found.  Memories swirled in his head, both near and far, jumbled and precise all at once.  It has been moments, it had been decades, he hadn’t left this very spot, he had been on several lifetimes worth of adventure and excitement.  Patting himself down, there wasn’t a spot of crystal left, incredulously.  Of course there wouldn’t be.  He was back in his old body, before a moment of waking originally had ever happened.
All attention fell back to her–gasping with hope and love shining in her eyes.  He couldn’t help but lean forward, lips meeting before he was nearly tackled backwards from her enthusiastic and happy response.  Laughing together softly as they greeted the new day.

Any favorite traditional foods?
OHOHO I've got a list of few! I might go into some depth w them too
Food images under the cut, in case anyone don't want to see or have their dash blasted with long text KJSHDKSD
Traditional, meaning food common in my tribe btw!
Tumblr media
My absolute favorite is Babi Panggang or Grilled Pork! It's mostly a Batak Karo or Batak Toba dish (I'm Batak Simalungun) but it's common in most Bataknese communities everywhere. It's basically grilled pork often paired with bone clear soup and spiced pig's blood as the dipping sauce. Better paired with some sambal andaliman made with a local type of sichuan pepper, gives a nice numbing kick.
ohh man im craving them now :(
Tumblr media
Another pork dish, this one is Saksang! There's also a version of it with dog meat but I don't really like that one. Lotsa spice and stuff and braised in it's own blood. There are versions of it without using the blood too if that's not your thing. There's ALWAYS Saksang whenever there's a traditional event, I guarantee that.
Tumblr media
Another fave but I don't eat commonly, Dayok Nabinatur and Hinasumba! Dayok Nabinatur means chicken that is arranged and it's mostly a special dish only served in special occasions like birthdays and marriage. People would give this as a sort of gift to someone, with the head of the chicken facing the recipient - with means of wishing said person's life will be arranged or proceed in an orderly way. It's commonly paired with Hinasumba, which is minced chicken. Both cooked with spices and the chicken's blood, but again there are variants w/o the blood. I love the Hinasumba most :]
There's also some traditional sambals I like called Tinobur and Tinuktuk. Tinobur is sambal for fried or grilled fish and you can pretty much use Tinuktuk for anything you like, you can even mix it with hot water and drink it like soup.
Sorry for the ramble!!! but WOO I love food :]

I’m not really a story simblr, but I’ve been toying with the idea of recreating some RP scenes in the sims. Or playing with one-off scenes that don’t make the cut for the RP (I have a 17 page draft document... there’s a lot of one-off scenes lol).
Would people be interested in that? I’m honestly just curious.
Either way, I have a head-canon for these two as teens, assuming that all the shit in the RP that led them to where they were as adults didn’t happen...
1. They would still be sparring partners because they like trying to best each other. 2. They would be too young for the claiming ritual (similar to courting/engagement, specific to Karo’s race), but they're inseparable during trade visits between the two races. 3. Their favorite pastime would be playing pranks on the Elders of the Sand Elves. 4. Both of their parents disapprove of their friendship for the sole reason that things get destroyed and/or bones get broken whenever they're together. It was probably Karo's fault.
(I really like this thought exercise lol)

☕ blades of marmora
I definitely hate them, damn.
Like I hate their mindset of sacrificing themselves for the greater good and not saving their partners if a mission went bad somehow!!!
I know they are in a war and that sacrifices happen all the time, but they didn't even think a way of saving or helping them at all! There are always a lot of ways of making things and they always reduced their options to one, which was making a sacrifice.
Lives aren't replaceable, damn it!!! And I hate they made Keith think this!!! (Yes, still not over the fact that Keith almost died due to this!!!) Also I love when Keith went back to save his partner (I don't remember the name sorry :'c) and defied Kolivan's views about this topic.
I should have loved that they focused more on this, since Keith did try to sacrifice himself chapters after. It's something that pisses me off about Voltron writing, to be honest. They should have focused on Keith (and the other characters who almost died due to sacrifices) more....

unrealistic aspect of the new episode: Chase having completely decent and respectable pictures of all his friends for contact photos when, in reality, he would have terrible pictures (probably from screenshotted embarrassing snapchats) and dumb memes for them.

ship ask game: karo and minfilia?
Going to meander a bit and make this a bit notes/list:
-Initial meeting, in either verse, Karo is comforted by someone understanding her visions--and instead of it feeling more friend/sisterish, the bond seems to be a bit deeper between them.
-Minfilia is always someone to come home to--more so in this verse. Karo gets to actually *bond* with someone early on, opening up in a way she didn't thinks she would, talking about her memory loss and her confusion and frustrations. Karo's quiet exuberance while still learning her place in the world meshes well with Minfilia's confidence, and the two become holy terrors to the other Scions with pranks,
-Move to Rising Stones/meeting F'lhaminn brings a weird sensation to Karo, knowing she's missing something with the family vibe. F'lhaminn takes her in like another daughter immediately, and it leaves a different ache in Karo's heart. Minfilia quietly starts looking for Karo's relatives, not knowing her Da and Pa have been watching quietly and are doing their best *not* to be found.
-Mor Dhona days are idyllic and wonderful and the two enjoy growing the scions and the crystal braves with Alphinaud, oblivious to the dangers growing around them.
-Nabriales kidnapping makes Karo snap into ultra protective mode, very very frustrated at her recent separation from her blessing. In this verse, Moen doesn't die--Karo's rage feeling the aether beam to destroy the Ascien even without a death--her bond with Kar'a unknown to her actually cementing into place and the shade of memory feeding her aether and a different sort of blessing.
-Banquet destroys Karo even more than normal. Blames Hydaelyn and Midgardsormer and starts HW even more isolated/numb to the world than ever. Goes through most of HW MSQ as if the puppet that others say she is--goes through the motions, doesn't let anyone get close, and doesn't understand why Haurchefant saves her.
-Post HW, getting Thancred and Y'shtola back helps a little, going to Antitower does *not* help. Think Thancred on the First but worse at this point. Almost let's Ardbert take her out on purpose--he stops instead, confused before Urianger pulls them all to the sea.
Aka, lots of angst, lots of drama, but I think while they're both there, in ARR they'd be quite good for each other. I ran outta steam to write about the First/what she finds there, but, I think you can kinda see where it's going. Takes Karo a very long time, and meeting Venat in person, to finally forgive her for taking Minfilia from her. Karo ends up a bit more dark, a bit more cold, and not quite as silly overall because of the early love lost.
Okay, rambling is over for now.
