Kala Dandekar is desperate to get rid of a persistent suitor: so desperate that she pretends she already has a boyfriend. Guess who.
A fake-dating AU that is not as light as it sounds.
On Fanfiction.net without the smut if that's not your thing.
...
Surprise! I've updated. Chapter 26 is up. As always, 🙏 to my patient and still-willing beta, @halcyon-red.

C G M(feel free to include OCs in this-- and any-- answer c; ) & W
C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will.
GOD there's so many! I feel like for most fandoms I've been in there's been at least one, typically popular, ship I just don't like, to the point of being accused of not liking female characters because they get in the way of my ships lol
Off the top of my head some ships I just don't get are: Yenralt (I think largely in part to how rushed and undeveloped it felt in the show, to me anyway), Stalia, and more recently Sanami (let Nami be a lesbian)
G - Have you ever had an OTP? If so, do you remember your first one? Who was in it?
I pretty much have a OTP for every fandom I've been in because I don't tend to multiship and even when i like multiple couples in a fandom there's usually one I like more! Offhand, OTPs I've had are: Geraskier, Kalagang, Joanlock, Zosan, Sterek, Destiel, Zutara, Symbrock
M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend.
Man this is tough! Maybe Jaskier? He seems like such a fun guy
W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom.
Idk if this really counts but I'm not a huge fan of crossovers with a few rare exceptions and even those I think tend to work better as just speculating and talking than actual fic

Would anyone be interested in a fic that is basically the finale but it cuts out Rajan and has Kalagang have their happy ending?

@thank-god-for-gravity tagged me on a prompt post by @kalawolfang:
“I need a fic where they (kalagang) actually spend their birthday together (with lots of fluff and smut)”
Note:  Sorry this took so long!  Life sorta got in the way of filling these prompts as quickly as I had been when I first got them, unfortunately.
This takes place in a Whispersless future again, but not my main fic universe because they haven’t defeated BPO by their birthday in that universe.
Also, this is really just shameless porn.  You might wanna skip this one if that’s not your thing.
---
The first thing Kala is aware of when she wakes up is an ache between her legs.  The second is Wolfgang spooning behind her, cock already half hard.  The third is that some of their clustermates in other time zones apparently started celebrating their birthday without them.  Still half-asleep, Kala feels Sun and her detective moving together in Seoul, Capheus and Zakia making love in the morning light of Nairobi, both Nomi and Lito staying up late with their partners in San Francisco and Los Angeles to do the same.
“Morning,” Wolfgang greets her with a small smile.
Kala groans.  “Couldn’t they have at least waited until we were all awake?” she jokes.
“Guess not,” he shrugs, then leans down to kiss her shoulder.
“We’re lucky Riley and Will aren’t up yet.”
“Want to give them something to wake up to?” Wolfgang teases.
Rolling over to face him, Kala gives Wolfgang a mischievous smile.  “Did you have something in mind?”
Wolfgang kisses her hard, pulling one of her legs over his hip to bring her closer.  She responds instantly.  Gasping into his mouth, Kala wraps her arms around him, running her nails across his bare back.  They kiss open mouthed, barely able to contain the heat they’ve received from the other members of their cluster.  When they finally pull back for air, Kala wears the same smile with a new flush on her cheeks.
“Does that work for you?” Wolfgang asks.
Giggling, Kala pushes his shoulder so he’s flat on his back.  “I can work with that,” she says, moving the leg lying on Wolfgang to the other side of his hip, bringing herself up to straddle him fully.
His hands skim up her legs, over the silk of her nightie to rest on her waist.  Elsewhere, Lito thrusts hard into Hernando, Capheus doing the same into Zakia.  Wolfgang and Kala’s bodies react, grinding against each other through the thin fabric of her underwear.  She’s already wet, and the damp silk creates a deliciously slick friction against his cock.
Wrapping his arms around her waist, Wolfgang flips them so Kala is now face-up on the bed.  Her legs now free, he takes the opportunity to slide her underwear off, tossing them over the side of the bed.  Wolfgang then grips her thighs, picking them up to rest them on his shoulders.  For a moment he just looks at her, taking in the beauty of her splayed before him.  Kala shivers in anticipation.
Then Wolfgang dives in, licking up Kala’s slit and sucking on her clit.  She gasps, grasping at the sheets for purchase.  Crossing her ankles behind his head, she pulls him closer.  He slips his hands under her ass, lifting her up to get access to her.  His tongue slides through her folds, swirling and teasing around her entrance.
“Wolfgang,” Kala sighs.  Her hips buck as he presses his tongue inside her.  They feel Amanita licking Nomi, shooting sparks through them both.  Wolfgang moves with the same pace, reveling in the sensation of Kala falling apart.  Her pleasure rolls through him, straight to his cock.
Writhing with each stroke of Wolfgang’s tongue, Kala draws closer to the edge.  Across the world, Sun reaches her orgasm, pulling Kala along with her.  It radiates from her core.  Her spine tingles, and Wolfgang rides the ghost of her climax with a moan against her clit.
Still shuddering, Kala pulls Wolfgang up for a kiss.  She tastes herself on his lips, drawing a groan from within her.  As he kisses her, Wolfgang’s hands slide beneath her night dress.  He lightly traces his way up her hips, deftly moving under the fabric until his palms rest on her breasts.  When he squeezes her nipples, Kala gasps.  Rather than keeping his attention there, though, Wolfgang grips the nightie and removes it over her head.  She whines at the momentary loss of contact.  Wolfgang chuckles, then makes up for it by bringing one of her nipples between his lips.
Her whining turns into breathy moans, and Kala reaches to grip Wolfgang’s cock.  She strokes him desperately.  He responds by sucking harder on her breast, tongue laving that nipple with affection while he teases the other with his fingertips.
“Wolfgang, please,” Kala keens.
“Please what?” he asks, looking up from her chest with a smirk.  They both know full well what she’s asking for, but he wants to hear her say it.
She blushes.  “Please, Wolfgang,” Kala says, “I want you inside me.”
Wolfgang gives her a quick kiss on the lips, then leans over to their bedside table drawer and grabs a condom.  Tearing the foil wrapper with his teeth, he frees the condom and rolls it down his length.  Kala takes the wrapper from him and tosses it to the floor in a rush.
“You made me say it and then take your time,” she jokingly huffs.
“I’m going, I’m going,” Wolfgang laughs, lining his cock up with her entrance. Her look of mock-frustration turns back to one of heated lust.  Slowly, he pushes inside of her.  Head falling back against the mattress, Kala gasps.  “Fuck, Kala,” Wolfgang groans.
Kala wraps her legs around his waist, keeping him close and giving her leverage to meet his thrusts.  They start out slow.  Methodical.  Just enjoying the steady friction.  Rather than going for speed, Wolfgang works on gradually pressing deeper into Kala.  With each stroke of their hips, he pushes a little further, until she has adjusted to his length and he’s fully sheathed inside her wet heat.  When he starts hitting that soft spot inside her on every thrust, sparks fly across both their vision.
Soon, the slow pace becomes teasing, almost torturous.  Kala reaches down to rub her clit, needing more.  “Faster, please, Wolfgang,” she begs.
Her need flowing through him, Wolfgang picks up his speed.  Matching each of his thrusts with her own, Kala hastens her fingers’ movements to match the new pace.  They moan in sync, minds overlapping completely.  As they lose themselves to their connection, the sensations from the rest of their cluster grow stronger, more tactile.
Shivers go down Wolfgang’s spine.  His thrusts become erratic, both of them moving closer to climax.  Kala presses hard on her clit, her walls clenching around Wolfgang’s cock, and they both come hard.  They move through it, hips rocking together until they’re both spent.
Still shaking slightly, Kala unwraps her legs from around Wolfgang and rests them on the bed.  A bit wobbly himself, Wolfgang slowly pulls out of her.  They are both oversensitive.  Kala gasps lightly as he moves, and Wolfgang suck air between his teeth.  He removes the condom, tying it off in a practice motion before tossing it into the trash can.  Once he’s done, Wolfgang collapses next to Kala on the bed.
“Happy birthday,” Kala laughs.
Wearing a tired grin, Wolfgang turns and gives her a quick kiss. “Happy birthday.”

Winter
This is from a billion years ago when I asked for one-word prompts, sorry it’s taken me ages and ages to get around to this!!
Here goes: Kalagang in winter
To say Kala’s not exactly used to cold weather is an understatement.
To say she can handle it well, however, is an outright lie.
“Come on, let’s get you inside.” Wolfgang has to juggle shopping bags, numb fingers, and an absolutely frozen Kala Dandekar under his arm, clinging to him for dear life, to slide the key into the lock of their flat and open the door.
They’d been having a nice time, spending the day out at a nearby mall to buy a few things for the flat, have lunch, and generally have pleasant day. It was five in the afternoon when they left, stepping out to see the world had been covered in a heavy layer of snow in the time they’d been inside, the tiny flakes still falling from the sky with no sign of letting up.
To add insult to injury, the few cabs still left on the streets weren’t stopping for passengers, and they’d had to walk through the snow to get home before they were trapped in the mall overnight.
“H-how are you n-not freezing?” she says as she walks into the slightly warmer flat, a nearly violent wave of shivers racking through her body as she does.
Wolfgang shrugs, dropping their bags on the floor and taking quick steps to the kitchen. “I’m used to it, I guess.”
Kala walks into their bedroom, which is usually the warmest area of their flat, and stands huddled in on herself in an attempt to conserve what feels like the last few degrees of body heat before she hits absolute zero. She hears water running, then a few beeping sounds and the hum of the microwave before Wolfgang’s voice calls out from the kitchen.
“Take your clothes off.”
Kala rolls her eyes. “It’s not really the time for that, Wolfgang.”
She can barely hear the responding soft chuckle, but it’s there. “Your clothes are dripping wet and freezing. Trust me, take it all off.”
She hesitates a moment longer, a few thermodynamic principles floating through her head (water’s specific heat is 4.184; it takes that many joules to heat up one gram of water in one degree Celsius, which is energy that’s being transferred from my warm body to the water until both reach the same temperature…) before deciding there’s definitely truth to what Wolfie is saying and complying. She toes off her wet shoes and undoes the flies of her trousers before kicking them off along with her dripping socks, gooseflesh rising over her now bare legs. She ignores the increasing intensity of the clattering of her teeth as she quickly shrugs out of her jacket and scarf before whipping her shirt off, left standing in her underwear for a couple seconds as Wolfie walks back into the bedroom and digs through his wardrobe.
“Here, put these on.” He tosses her his warmest pullover hoodie, dark heathered grey with a fleece interior, and she rushes to pull it on with trembling hands.
The microwave beeps just as Wolfgang hands her a pair of her own sweatpants and closes the drawer he was digging in.
“Get in bed,” he says over his shoulder, heading back into the kitchen. She doesn’t need telling twice and climbs into the still-cold blankets the second her numb fingers finish tying the drawstring on her sweatpants.
Wolfgang walks in a moment later with two hot water bottles, leaning over a curled up Kala to press a quick, cold-lipped kiss to her forehead before sliding the silicone pouches under the sheets and into her hands.
A shaky sigh of relief escapes Kala’s lips as her skin makes contact with the warm bottles. Her eyes fall closed as se pulls them into her arms, holding them close as her body trembles around them.
“Th-thank you.”
She feels rather than sees Wolfgang’s answering smile before a new wave of chills takes over her. She cracks one eye open just in time to see him drop his shirt to the floor and slip out of his pants, replacing his cold, wet clothes with soft, dry ones and slipping in next to Kala.
Kala shifts and turns so that she’s facing Wolfgang, making to give him one of the water bottles, but he simply shakes his head and pushes it back gently.
“You need it more than I do,” he chuckles. “I’m cold-blooded.”
Her eyes fall back closed and she nestles closer to Wolfgang, so that they’re both touching the warm bottles between them. You’re really not, you know.”
Wolfgang doesn’t tense up, exactly, but there’s a sudden stillness to him that Kala knows only happens when she surprises him with something neither of them saw coming.
She knows better than to press it, though, so she just huddles even closer and slides one hand over his side, gently caressing his lower back in slow circles.
He breaks out of whatever corner of his mind he’s gone off to after a few seconds and weaves one arm under her neck and the other over her hip, pulling her impossibly close. The warmth is absolutely delicious, and a gentle tremor runs through them both as their muscles warm up against each other.
Neither of them speak for a few long minutes, simply revelling their little cocoon of ever-increasing warmth. Kala caresses Wolfgang’s chest with one hand, both arms nestled safely between them. Wolfgang’s hand, in turn, continues rubbing up and down her back, slower now, with the purpose of comfort and closeness rather than friction and heat.
“Better?”
Kala opens her mouth to reply but a large yawn comes out instead.
Wolfie smiles and brushes yet another kiss onto her forehead. “I’ll take that as a yes.”
She tilts her head up and meets his lips with hers. It’s a relatively chaste kiss, compared to so many others they’ve shared, but it still sends a tingle up and down their spines that has nothing to do with the cold.

They both know they won't give up on each other. No matter what they say, no matter how Kala insists she'll focus on her studies and commit herself to Rajan because it’s what she should do, or how Wolfgang claims he'll just keep working with Felix and make more money because it’s all he knows how to do, it's all lies because they come back to each other, every time. They always do.

My dear @timisaliar prompted me with “I am not jealous” for Kala and Wolfie. Thank you so much, I really wanted to write something today and writing this fic has been a great fun :) I hope you like it and forgive me if there are some grammar mistakes XD
This fic is set in a Whisperless future. Kala and Wolfie have moved to Paris, but they have decided to go to Berlin for a few days to visit Felix.
--------
Wolfgang and Felix loved going clubbing. Kala was quite familiar with Berlin nightlife, having experienced several nights out through Wolfgang, but it wasn’t exactly her kind of fun: she preferred going to the movies or going to a bar to grab a drink rather than spending the whole night dancing and sweating in a room full of unknown people that were sweating even more than her, but she knew that it was the natural habitat of Wolfgang and his best friend, so she didn’t protest when Felix suggested going to a club that night. She had met Felix in London right after they had rescued Wolfgang, but she hadn’t had the chance to talk to him and get to know him (even if she knew him as deeply as Wolfgang did) properly and she wanted to make an impression on him, so being the boring girlfriend who doesn’t want to go clubbing was not at option. She came out of the bathroom, wearing a brand new red dress, exclaiming: “Guys, I’m ready! Where are we going?”. “Oh, you’ll see. We’re going to the best clubs in Berlin”, Felix answered right away. Clubs? As in more than one club? Kala muttered an “Oh, that’s great!” and added a not-so-convincing smile. Wolfgang finally came out of his room and a smile appeared on his face as soon as he saw Kala (everything looked good on her, but red was definitely her color), he wrapped his arm around her waist and gently pulled her closer to him. “Ready to go?”.
They went to several clubs, Kala lost the count. Were they three of four? Also, the various gin and tonics she had didn’t help her to remember. She was having fun, much more than she had expected. Everything was fun with Wolfgang and Felix. She danced with both of them until her feet hurt, laughing all the time. Seeing them on the dance floor, showing off their moves made her giggle like a little girl. And seeing Wolfgang so happy was the best thing of all. She shared his happiness: he was with his family (the family he has chosen for himself), finally free, with no worries and burdens consuming him.
They had just arrived in the fourth (or fifth?) club and Kala and Felix were ordering some drinks at the counter when they saw a girl waving at Wolfgang and walking towards him. Kala turned her eyes to Felix and gazed at him with a quizzical look. Felix made a nervous laugh. “That’s Agnes. Wolfgang used to date her”, he finally said. “But like ages ago”, he added. Kala took at look at them: they had started talking. (“You’re jealous of that slut? Seriously? She looks insignificant, like any other girl in this club”, she heard Lito’s voice in her head).
Kala had never thought of herself as a jealous person. But she started considering that maybe she had never been jealous because there wasn’t anyone to be jealous at? She didn’t love Rajan, therefore she had never been jealous at him. She felt incredibly stupid. Of course she knew that Wolfgang was a lot more experienced than her in that field, so it was obvious that he must have had a lot of girlfriends. She also knew that his past relationships were not serious, so there was no reason to be jealous at all. But she was. She wasn’t just a bit jealous, she was helplessly jealous. And Wolfgang could feel it - that was the disadvantage of being a sensate.
A couple of minutes - that felt like hours for Kala - later, Wolfgang made his way through the crowds of people in the club and reached Kala and Felix at the counter. Felix, who had sensed the tension between the two of them (the look on Kala’s face when she saw Agnes approaching Wolfgang spoke louder than any word), grabbed his drink and went straight to the center of the dance floor, leaving the two of them alone.
Wolfgang made a small grin and started scratching his head with a hand - a thing he did when he didn’t know how to find the right words to say. “So, Felix told you about Agnes?”, he asked, already knowing the answer. “Yes, but I’m not jealous. I’m not that type of annoying girlfriend who gets jealous every time her boyfriend talks with an ex-girlfriend, or with a girl in general. I’m not like that”, she babbled - babbling was her coping mechanism. She was lying and she didn’t even know why, since Wolfgang could literally read her thoughts. Wolfgang laughed and his laughter eased the tension, Kala couldn’t help but smile, realizing how absurd that situation was. “Okay, let’s say that I believe you”, Wolfgang said, “But really, there’s no one to be jealous of. You can enter inside my head anytime you want, and you know you’ll find no one else but you”, he added. She gave him a soft kiss before leading him once again on the floor.
It was 5 a.m. when they came back to Felix’s flat. Kala and Wolfgang collapsed on the bed without even undressing. Kala moved closer to Wolfgang and rested his head on his shoulder. “Can I tell you something?”, Wolfgang asked. “Sure”. “You look very sexy when you’re jealous”, he said with a mischievous smirk on his face. “Wolfgang, I was not jeal-“, she argued, but he stopped her before she could even finish her sentence and kissed her, softly at first and then more and more passionately. Kala realized once again that there was nothing to be jealous of.

Kalagang Fic Idea!
I don't know who to go to directly for this, so I thought that it would be a good idea to post it publicly and hope that someone will either decide to write it or forward it to someone who can. Here's the idea: How would Kala and Wolfgang's morning after (2x06) had worked out if Rajan wasn't there to wake them up? What if he'd already left for work and the duo got the chance to wake up on their own? What would've been their reaction to waking up beside one another? There you have it! Hope that makes sense and I hope that someone writes this fic because I'm dying to know how that morning would've played out!!!!! Thanks! 😋💋

Her eyes looked soft and harsh at the same time. “You matter to me,” she emphasised, standing closer to him than she probably should; looking at him in a way that she probably shouldn’t- and when she said that, the way she said it… Wolfgang actually believed it.

- of what Felix said earlier and he knows how Lila will hurt anyone in her way. Or does he meant Lila because Mitaike was there before night and he really wants to know what Lila was upto or I'm just dumb reading too much into it😭. Anyways I could write an essay on every chapter because I'm so engrossed in this fic and I absolutely love every chapter.
2 of 2
😁I LOVE your enthusiasm! That last line was vague on purpose. Next chapter!

hello, my old heart (it’s been so long since i’ve given you away)
Wolfgang dreams.
At least, he thinks this is a dream. Sleep has never been reliable or easy for him, the product of childhood nights spent lying awake straining to discern sounds of the house settling from his father’s footsteps. When he does dream, he never remembers.
He’ll remember this.
She’s sitting at the edge of her pool, turned away from him slightly, and as she swipes a loose coil from her face he catches a glimpse of her left hand, her conspicuously bare ring finger.
So. Definitely a dream, then.
Uncertainty roots him where he stands. I shouldn’t be here, he thinks, followed abruptly by fucking say something, you idiot -
“Stop thinking so loudly,” Kala says.
Wolfgang blinks, shakes the slack-jawed expression off his face. “You’re in my head, now?”
She scoffs, keeps her gaze fixed on the water and that’s how he knows something’s wrong. “You’re dreaming,” she says tightly. “We’re already in your head.”
He’s never heard her voice sound like this. She’s pissed at him, and he knows why. With a sigh, he steps towards her. “Listen-”
“Don’t.” Her eyes find his, dark and furious. “There’s something I need to say to you and I won’t be able to if you come any closer, so just…” she presses her lips together, takes a measured breath. “Just don’t.”
He looks away. There’s a pressure mounting in his chest, a quiet anger rising to match hers even as the logical part of him attempts to quash it. She has every right to be upset - what he did was foolish as it was dangerous, he knows this - but his whole life, Wolfgang has only ever known one way to respond to anger.
(Fire with fire, boy. Fire with fire.)
“Do you understand that your actions have implications?” Kala is saying softly, barely above a whisper but it’s enough to chase the ghost of his father’s voice back to the recesses of his mind. “Implications not just for you, but also those who care about you? Do you have any idea?”
Of course I do. His hands are shaking, fingers twitching at his sides and he digs his nails into his palms hard to ground himself. That’s why I tried to handle this myself.
The thought is mostly true. It’s why he’d been so careful not to think about his meeting with Lila in the hours leading up to it - she was his problem and he’d be damned if his cluster, his family, ended up in her line of fire because of him.
(The other truth is that he works better alone. It’s as simple as that. He’s survived this long relying on himself and he can’t always say he appreciates the seven new voices in his head, pulling him this way and that, influencing him-)
Wolfgang’s a lot of things but he’s not a coward, so he glances up, meets Kala’s sparking gaze head-on. “I told you before,” he says. “There are some things you will never understand about my world, how I choose to live in it.”
“That’s exactly what I’m talking about.” She pushes to her feet in one fluid motion, arms curling protectively around herself. “Right there, you acting like you’re the only person affected by your very frequently poor decisions.”
His heart kicks against his ribcage. “What do you want me to say? That I’m sorry, that it’ll never happen again?”
“No,” she says. “I don’t want an apology. I want you to admit that you need this, you need us as much as we need you.”
Each word is like a knife in his chest, twisting against all the soft and vulnerable places he’s kept buried for so long but he’s not surprised. She’s always known how to tear down his defenses, burrow straight to the most intimate parts of his soul. (You have something good and beautiful hidden inside of you-)
He shakes his head, swallows past the knot in his throat. “Stop-”
“I won’t,” she says firmly. “As long as you place a higher value on our lives than your own, as long as you believe the darkness inside you is stronger than the light, I won’t stop.”
She’s moving as she speaks, moving towards him and every single muscle in his body is screaming wake up, wake up before you destroy the only thing you’ve ever cared about, but he stays where he is and then she’s standing in front of him, close enough for him to count the stars reflected in her eyes.
He’s been holding his breath without realizing it, and as she brings both hands up to frame his face he finally exhales, a shuddering sound that leaves his chest feeling hollow. Her fingertips trace a gentle path from his temples to his jaw, then back towards the nape of his neck, and he slowly dips his forehead to rest against hers.
“You’re a good man, Wolfgang,” she whispers. “I will never stop trying to convince you of that fact.”
He pulls her in, hands sliding through her hair and over the curve of her bare shoulders. Her face is a beautiful tangle of emotion, fear and anger and hope all blurring together behind her eyes and he knows none of it is real, knows it’s all in his head just like every other encounter he’s had with her but he doesn’t fucking care. She’s an illusion he’ll happily drown in, content to never again come up for air.
I love you, he aches to tell her, I love you more than I’ve ever loved anything, but instead he kisses her, soft and slow and clutching her like she’s the thing keeping him tethered to the ground.
Thank god for gravity.
The taste of her name is still in his mouth when he wakes.

@kala-wolfgang-trash prompted:  “Anything with kalagang would be okay, maybe like a cute scene of them celebrating Christmas for the first time together?”
Note:  First of all, I’m so sorry about how late this fic is.  My brain sorta got in the way of writing for a while.  But I really love this prompt, it’s super cute.  And I also love you, darling!  I know you’re busy with school right now, so kick some ass for me.
This takes place in a Whispersless future once again, because I need some happiness in my life.
(Also, for after you’ve read the fic, you can find an image of the gift Kala gives Wolfgang here for reference.)
---
Usually, Wolfgang is the first to wake between the two of them.  On Christmas morning, though, Kala can’t help waking early.  It’s their first Christmas as a couple, as well as the first after everything they went through with BPO.
Kala hadn’t really celebrated Christmas before the cluster came into her life.  Wolfgang had tried to tell her it wasn’t a big deal, that they didn’t have to do anything special for the day, but Kala told him that for her it isn’t about being a believer.  To her, Christmas means her new family, the unbreakable connections she’s made with her other selves.
“Besides,” she’d said, “just because I want to keep my traditions doesn’t mean I don’t want to start some new ones with you.”  Wolfgang had smiled, and from then on had made a point of introducing Kala to the few Christmas traditions he kept.
Now it’s Christmas, and excitement bubbles up in Kala.  She’s pretty sure part of it is coming from members of her cluster, some of their holiday celebrations already under way.  But she also knows part of it is her own.  After everything she and Wolfgang have been through to be together, there’s something to be said for enjoying a milestone in their relationship like any normal couple.
Careful not to wake Wolfgang, Kala slips out of bed and heads to the living room of their flat.  The small tree they bought sits in the corner by the window.  It’s decorated haphazardly, covered in a combination of the few ornaments Wolfgang already had, shiny red bulbs Kala purchased to add some color, and an ornament from each of the other members of their cluster.  She knows it won’t be featuring in any home decor magazines, but Kala loves their tree just the same.
Kala walks over to the window and looks down at the street below.  To her delight, she sees that it must have started snowing some time in the night, as the world is now covered in a layer of white.
“A white Christmas,” Wolfgang says.
She whips around, and he meets her with a sleepy grin.  Kala senses he’s visiting, his body still in their bed.
“Didn’t mean to scare you,” he says.
“It’s alright,” Kala replies, returning his smile with one of her own.  “Did I wake you?”
Wolfgang shakes his head.  “You’re up early,” he answers instead.
Kala looks down bashfully, but the smile doesn’t leave her face.  “I’m more excited than I expected to be.”
Chuckling, Wolfgang gets up and leaves their bedroom.  He steps into the living room to join Kala in person.  “It’s natural,” Wolfgang says.  After pressing a soft kiss into her hair, he wraps his arms around her.  Nodding, Kala embraces him.  After a few moments of just taking each other in, Kala looks up to Wolfgang with a playful grin.  “Yes?” he asks, his amusement evident in his voice.
“It’s traditional to open the presents when you wake up on Christmas morning, isn’t it?”
He laughs.  “Some people do, yeah.  It depends on where you’re from.”
“What do you do?” Kala asks.
“Usually it’s just me and Felix,” Wolfgang says with a shrug.  “We mostly just get drunk and give each other stupid shit for presents.”
Kala laughs, “I look forward to tonight, then.”
“We can open presents now, though,” Wolfgang says.  “Felix won’t care as long as we save the booze.”
“That’s good.  I don’t want to know what Felix would say about my gift for you.”
“Oh?” he asks, smirking.
Cheeks flush, Kala buries her face into Wolfgang’s chest and mumbles, “You’ll see.”
Rather than pushing the point, Wolfgang pulls Kala over to their little tree.  There are only a few presents beneath it.  He picks up a small box that’s neatly wrapped in plain orange wrapping paper.  “I can wait,” he says.  “You first.”
Kala takes the box, looking it over curiously before tearing off the orange paper.  Without the wrapping, it’s obvious that the black velvet box came from a jewelry store.  Her eyes light up.  Wolfgang watches with affection as Kala opens the small box.  Inside is a pair of earrings, thin gold chains with a small ruby at the end of each.
“Oh, Wolfgang,” Kala sighs.  “They’re beautiful.”
He kisses her in reply, then gestures for her to put the earrings on.  “They made me think of you,” Wolfgang smiles.
“Thank you,” she says, returning his smile in kind.  Kala puts on the earrings, then pulls Wolfgang close for another kiss.  When he pulls back, she’s looking down sheepishly.
“What is it?”
“My gift is much less...sentimental,” she offers, not sure how to explain without giving it away.
“I’m sure it’s fine,” he laughs.
Nodding, Kala pulls a shiny blue gift bag from under the tree.  She hands it to Wolfgang.  He shifts the tissue paper around until his fingers catch on fabric.  From the bag, he pulls out a red negligee.  The bust is floral lace, with the rest of the piece made out of a sheer gauze.  Wolfgang’s eyes widen.
“Shouldn’t I be giving this to you?” he jokes, but it doesn’t mask the pulse of arousal that she can feel course through him.
“That’s just the wrapping paper,” Kala says.  “You’ll get to unwrap your present later.”
Now Wolfgang isn’t trying to hide how turned on he is.  “Have I mentioned how much I love you?”
“Not this morning,” Kala giggles.
He puts the negligee down, puts an arm around her waist, and pulls her in to kiss her again.  “I love you,” Wolfgang murmurs against her lips.
“I love you,” Kala replies.  “Merry Christmas.”
“Merry Christmas.”

Broken Crown and Fragile Heart
Summary: When Kala becomes engaged to another kingdom, threats are made to her and her family. That’s when they hire the new, and intense, security guard to keep her safe. Turns out, they both need each other beyond the job requirements.
Chapter: 1/?
AO3
A/N: I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M DOIN GOOD DAY TO YOU SIR
When Kala was young, she knew she was going to be Queen. She knew that she was the oldest and there were no males born before her - she would, someday, be Queen. Envisioning herself was always like her mother - dawned in the robes she had admired as a child, a crown placed on her head next to a man she loved - instead, she is met with this scene; gunfire and screaming people, clutching at the arm of her bodyguard and the man she was falling for. How she could feel safe around Wolfgang Bogdanow after everything she knew, she had no idea.
Kala’s father, Sanyam, was frantic that day, his forehead broken in a hard sweat and he was nervous. Too many things going on for him to feel at ease. And of course, the heat of the kitchen wasn’t helping. Whenever her father was nervous, he would cook. He would cook really well normally, but he cooked particularly well when he was stressed. Walking in, there were a few scattered security guards helping her father prepare a meal, all in aprons and following her father’s instructions as always.
It was always a sight to see some of her favourite security guards being flustered. Will Gorski, a friend Kala could confide in, was watching over her father’s shoulder to sneak instructions and find out if he was doing the right thing. It was always a comfort to know that Kala wasn’t the only one that tried to maintain other hobbies when she was stressed - for her father, it was cooking; for Kala, it was science. Her father was always encouraging of her education, and even had their home build a small lab where Kala could work in her downtime.
Will turned to put in a dozen spices that her father had told him to, sneaking a look up to kala, who was hidden by some of the door. He smiled before gesturing her inside. Pushing herself into the kitchen, Will gave a soft bow before giving her a wide smile.
“Your Highness,” he teased. Will and Kala had grown up together, his father being head of security for nearly thirty years before he retired. Will was one of Kala’s only friends, their bond a close yet foreign one; will was always more confident than Kala was when talking to people or being open about who he was. Though she has become more confident over the years, expressing herself and will helping her, she still found his words too true for her private heart.
“Hello, Will,” she smiled as he rounded the bench. Will kissed at her cheek, an act that would frowned upon in any other kingdom, but they were far too close for those titles to mean much.
“Oh, hello sweetheart,” her father greeted. Her father gave Will a look, who in turn, started to untie his apron.
“I’ll be right outside, your Majesty,” Will whispered, walking out of the room with the other security team. Kala held her hands together tightly as her father hurried around the kitchen some more.
“What’s the matter?” she asked, watching as the other men left the kitchen finally.
“What -” her father tried but as Kala huffed, he stopped.
“You’re making Will cook with you,” she remarked with a smile. Her father chuckled. “What’s going on?”
“We’ve been receiving some distressing letters,” he sighed, his head hanging low as he stirred a pot.
“Concerning?” Kala asked, moving around the bench to meet with her father.
“Your recent engagement,” he replied.
“Why would people -”
“They do not wish for you to marry someone so far from our lands and to have rights to our kingdom,” he explained. “My dear, you know that when you marry Rajan, you will no longer be the reigning monarch of these lands. Your words will always be less than that of your husband. It’s how our lives have been dictated,” he gave a shrug, knowing that any monarchy is horrible for women, no matter their royal stature.
“You’ve listened to mother,” Kala tried. Her father took her hand, laying a kiss upon her knuckles.
“Because I value her words, her advice. I rely on her. But, she has never made discussions, unfortunately,” he said, his eyes saddened. Over the years, Kala knew that her father talked with her mother, Priya, every day, they discussed everything just so that he had someone to talk to - for counsel and hope. It was all that Kala ever wanted.
“People are upset that he isn’t from a closer kingdom?”
“People are upset that he doesn’t know our kingdom. It’s a very different thing,” he corrected. “You have added security to your personal team,” he said, making his way around the kitchen to make sure all the appliances and stoves were switched off. Kala’s brow furrowed.
“What? But -”
“Kala,” he stopped her. As she looked at Sanyam, his lip quivered and his shoulders were softened, as though talking about this further was weakening him. “Why do you think I’m in this kitchen? I am worried for you,” he said, wiping at his forehead. Kala sighed, walking to Sanyam and embracing him.
“Alright,” she said, kissing his cheek and making her way out of the kitchen. The moment her father was left alone, security came rushing in, just to make sure his safety was ensured. The idea that one day Kala would be consumed by security, that he own life would never be her own, was a somewhat terrifying thought.
As she walked out of the kitchen, she was met with Will, walking down the hall and heading towards the main foyer. “He tell you?” he asked, his suit nicely lined up rather than his suit jacket missing and his sleeves rolled up. Now, he looked the part of a fitting and strict head of security.
“Yes,” she nodded, her sweater too large and gathering at her hands. She bound her fingers into the loose holes nervously. “Is this really something to worry about?”
Will shrugged. “At the moment, I think everything will be fine.”
“But the future?” she asked timidly.
“That’s why we’ve hired more security,” he smirked and Kala laughed. As they reached the foyer, Kala saw three women walking towards them. Riley Blue, Nomi Marks and Amanita Caplan; a few women she called her friends as well as her own personal counsel.
As Kala became older, she knew she had to take up more responsibility; so, through knowing a few women from university, she started to gain more confidence in initiating new plans into the public. Riley, Amanita, Nomi, Sun, Will, Capheus, Dani, Lito and Hernando were all members of her counsel but also played huge parts of her life and education. When Kala implemented the plan to help young women have more resources and better educations, especially in science, her entire counsel and team were behind her, helping her through each step and having her back through it all.
Kala looked over to Will, who was smiling ear to ear at Riley. Kala had known about them for a while; walking past a hallway where they stole kisses was probably the biggest give away for them. As Will noticed Kala staring, he straightened and tried to avoid eye-contact with Riley. Kala’s hip nudged at Will’s.
“It’s fine,” she whispered, which Will did a double take between her and Riley.
“How did you -”
“Will, you talk more to Riley now than you do to me. Go,” she smiled before urging him onwards. He met up with Riley, embracing her tightly as she kissed at his cheek. Kala was soon met with Amanita and Nomi.
“They finally tell you?” Nomi asked as she took Kala into her arms. Amanita followed suit.
“I worked it out,” Kala shrugged as they began walking the length of the foyer. It was long and wide, all white besides the decorations their family had put up across the years. Their pace was slow, wanting some time for chatter before any meetings would be conducted. “Where’s Sun?” she asked.
“She had to work today. Her father is really on her back,” Nomi replied and Kala sighed.
“Isn’t he always?” she said, tucking hair behind her ear and chewing on her lip.
“What’s got you in a fluster, sugar?” Amanita asked, her arm tying in with Kala’s in worry.
“Just security concerns,” Kala said, rubbing at her forehead.
Amanita gasped. “Nom, what did you -”
“No. But if you’ve been hacking us again, please patch up the firewall. I would love you for it,” Kala replied, taking hold of Nomi’s hand. Nomi likes to test the palace and its security from time to time. Eventually Kala just hired Nomi to hack the palace to make sure security is up to standard.
“Then what is it, babe?” Amanita asked.
“The engagement has a lot of people upset. They’re amping up my security,” Kala groaned and Amanita tutted, bringing Kala’s head down to her shoulder.
“I hope they’re cute,” Amanita confessed and Kala rose in surprise, but she really shouldn’t have been. Kala gave a small giggle as Nomi leaned over Kala slightly.
“Neets, I think Kala would like someone to help her out if she’s in trouble,” she remarked before turning to Kala. “But seriously, if they’re cute, let us know.” Kala laughed.
“You are no help,” she shook her head.
“Come on, we’ve got another meeting to go to!” Amanita said, racing head and taking hold of Nomi’s hand.
“Neets, calm down!” Nomi giggled, moving a few room ahead before making their way into a conference room they were always stationed in.
Kala liked having normal friends. She used to have real ‘ladies-in-waiting’, but it was never the same as someone treating you like normal. It took begging and pleading for Kala to go to university and have a range of friends, but hiring her friends to be consultants and counsel was almost unheard of. No staff was allowed to be informal with the royal family, but Kala strived for it, making sure that the people who knew her only ever talked to her like they would anyone else.
Riley whistled and Kala turned to see her friend racing over as Will clapped his hand on the shoulder of a new man. He was tall like Will, but had stronger features and dusty blond hair. Kala couldn’t make out much else, but she stared - something about him made her keep her eye on him for longer than necessary. He even watched back. Finally, Will and the mystery man were out of sight and Riley was greeting Kala like always.
“Who was that?” Kala asked, gesturing to Will and the man.
“Not sure. Will has a meeting with him,” Riley shrugged before they continued to their meeting.
It wasn’t until several days later that Kala finally got her answer.
Sitting in her lab, Kala was finishing up an experiment on different metals and to see if their metals would be easier and safer for construction purposes. She was writing down many of her results before she was going to send them to Sun, who was helping her with small businesses and construction around the kingdom. She heard the doors open and close, a few different footsteps walking into the lab.
“Your highness? I would like to -” Will started before Kala raised her finger, shushing him for just a moment.
“One moment, Will. I'm just finishing up here,” she interrupted.
“Alright, Kala,” he scoffed.
“Since when are security staff allowed to address royalty like that?” a different and unfamiliar voice asked.
“Since I grew up with the princess and she hates it when I call her princess or ‘your highness’ for long periods of time,” Will retorted and Kala smiled. She put her pen down before rising from her chair.
“Yes, sorry, I was -” she started but was caught off guard. She was met with the man she could only guess was the same from barely a week beforehand. She was right about his strong features, with a thick jaw and eyes that were intense in even a soft gaze - he was gorgeous and strangely intoxicating. “busy,” she finished, clearing her throat. He straightened suddenly before he bowed.
“Your Highness,” the man greeted.
“And who might this be?” she turned to will, hoping that she wasn’t breaking out into a blush.
“Wolfgang Bogdanow. New Security,” Will confirmed. Kala stood for a moment before she broke into a giggle - not for his name or what his role was, but because she was nervous.
“Sorry,” she remarked, covering her  “I wasn’t told you were coming today. I’m a little flustered,” she let out a soft breath.
“No need on my account,” Wolfgang replied slyly, and Kala felt her breath get caught in her throat.
“Kala!” Another voice radiated through the lab. Her father this time. He came rushing in, making everyone bow and curtsy. “I see you’ve met Wolfgang,” he said, clapping a hand to Wolfgang’s shoulder. “You two will be spending nearly every minute together, so I do hope you get along,” he smiled and Kala swallowed hard. She nodded to her father before moving off towards another room, feeling two men walking behind her - as always.
Shutting the door to the bathroom, she leaned against the wood, running her hands over her head. Kala bound her hands to her chest, cheeks flushing hard. He wasn’t allowed to do this to her - he wasn’t able to do that. He only said a sentence to her it was enough to have her feeling weak at the knees? She was a princess! She didn’t get flustered. But, God, he was doing doing it well. Kala pushed herself off the door, touching at her face to see if her fingers would cool her hottening skin. Gathering water from the sink, she splashed some in her face, the right amount of cool to regain her senses. A knock at the door caused Kala to bit at her lip and look up to see her face still in a fluster.
“Capheus is in the car, Your Highness,” Wolfgang said in an unmoving tone. “Dani, Lito, and Hernando are waiting,” he reminded and Kala cleared her throat, combing hair out of her face and looking at her reflection. She was a princess. She was better than this. Moving her shoulders back, she exited the bathroom and walked out to the car zone, not looking back and tempting herself with the image of her new security.
Sliding into her seat in the car, Capheus turned from his driver seat, both watching out the window as Wolfgang started to direct and tell people the plan for today’s visit as well as being informed on how the security likes to work.
“And the man walking behind you that looks like he could kill me?” Capheus asked and Kala shook her head.
“Wolfgang. New security,” she replied, fixing up her skirt.
“He looks intense. kinda scary,” he said. As Kala looked out the window, she watched as he huffed and talked, then the glances he threw to her - they were two different people, something soft and forgiving whenever his eyes met hers.
“I don’t know. There’s something else there,” she said as Wolfgang took his place in the front seat with Capheus. Throughout the trip, Capheus would ask Wolfgang question, to which he would reply with grunts and short answers. There was a part of Kala that wanted to ask the same thing to see if he would reply any differently, but knew it would be a hopeless effort.
Arriving outside the university, Kala’s door was opened by Wolfgang who followed her closely. The other security guards were following with a distance that was normal to Kala, but Wolfgang was almost walking arm in arm with her. It was a foreign concept that she was able to walk like that with a stranger. “You know, I’m not usually followed so closely,” she told him. Wolfgang buttoned up his suit jacket and held his arms firmly to either side of him.
“I’m just making sure you’re safe,” he said, voice harsh with caution.
“I’m not going to fall over and die, Wolfgang,” she joked and Wolfgang looked over to her, a look on his face that could be surprise mixed with happiness but it was soon gone. “I do, however, appreciate your diligent work,” she remarked.
“Thank you, Your Highness,” he replied and Kala scoffed.
“If we’re going to be around each other every day, please just call me Kala,” she suggested.
Wolfgang tilted his head before he smirked. “I’ll make an effort to try it, Your Highness.”
“Now you’re just teasing,” she smiled.
“Too obvious?” he asked and a smile appeared on his lips. Kala didn’t know why, but it felt like a smile reserved just for her - a smile she could keep and know it was always meant for her. “These people you’re meeting with, who are they exactly?” he asked.
“Dani, Lito, and Hernando were some of my tutors in university. They were all involved in the arts. They’re my friends and they’re part of my counsel,” she explained, recalling the days where Hernando would talk about art and Kala, Lito and Dani would sit around in awe of his passion for it all. It was what inspired Kala to keep art living alongside science in their kingdom.
“But why are you meeting with them?” he asked.
Kala shrugged. “Because it’s easier. They have jobs and other things to do. I have an arts event in a few weeks and want their opinion and direction, it’s just easier to be in their environment.”
Wolfgang’s brow furrowed as he opened up a door to the university. “Isn’t that more of unfamiliar territory?” he asked. Kala smiled.
“Yes, but doesn’t that make it more fun?” she said, watching as another one of those special smiles appeared on his lips. Kala continued inside, guiding Wolfgang to a room towards the back. He opened up the door to her usual room. Lito, Hernando and Dani all turned to see Wolfgang and Kala at the door, smiling and looking curiously at the new man. “I’ll be okay in here,” Kala said. Wolfgang tucked a hand into his pocket, worry setting in. Kala huffed, urging him out of the room. “I promise.”
Wolfgang resigned. “I’ll be right outside. You can see me through the window,” he told her and she nodded.
“Thank you, Wolfgang,” she replied before shutting the door.
“Lito, did you see the new guy,” Dani said, hitting Lito’s arm before racing over to Kala. They embraced shortly before Kala moved down to the front and took a seat next to Lito in front of Hernando.
“Kala, you have to tell me who that is,” Lito leaned over and whispered.
“Lito, you have a boyfriend,” Kala reminded, to which Hernando nodded to Lito.
“No, we both want to know,” he shrugged, leaning down and kissing Lito in a short peck.
“He’s part of my new security team,” Kala said, tucking hair behind her ear.
“He is handsome,” Dani said, biting at her lip.
“He’s not really my type,” Lito shrugged.
“He’s everyone’s type, baby,” Hernando scoffed. As Kala avoided everyone’s gaze, tucking hair behind her ear and fiddling with the edge of her skirt, Lito suddenly leaned against her arm.
“I think we know who else likes him,” he said in a sly, playful voice.
“Kala!” Dani squeaked excitedly.
“Please stop,” she said, feeling the creeping heat rush over her cheeks. “I think you’re all forgetting something,” she started. “I’m engaged.”
“No one says you can’t have fun,” Dani said, kissing at Kala’s cheek.
“When you’re in line for the throne, I think fun is out of the question,” Kala reminded.
“He seems like a wildfire,” Hernando said, glancing up towards the window. Everyone turned to see Wolfgang half looking inside and half glancing around outside - constantly looking after Kala. “There’s something in his eyes,” he sighed wonderfully. Kala had to agree with Hernando there.
