Love Yourself
Pairing: colossus x reader
Warnings: body insecurity
Summary: anon asked “Gotcha! In that case, i had this idea about fluffy Piotr x chubby fem!reader, she's insecure about her body, Piotr is such a gentleman and respects her boundaries and also tries to help her see how beautiful she is, maybe he could lift her spirits with some innocent tickling and kissing while they cuddle in his cold room? He loves hearing her laugh and showers her with compliments to see her blush and get flustered cause I think hes just that kind of guy❤️”
You and Piotr were out and about in the city, doing some holiday shopping.
You walked up to a store window, admiring a pair of shoes that caught your attention. Your eyes drifted to the other goods within the display. Your eyes stopped and stared at the impossibly thin mannequin.
You let out a sigh as you pulled your jacket tighter around your body. Your insecurities began creeping up on you.
Piotr came out of the store next door, just in time.
“(Y/n) I have found best workout pants and-“ He stopped mid sentence, his focus on you. “what is wrong darling?”
“Nothing, just ready to head back.” You flashed a faux smile, hoping he wouldn’t see past it.
“Me too.” He agreed.
Piotr could tell something was wrong, but he didn’t want to push it.
“Why don’t we go back to my place and watch film?” Piotr suggested, hoping to take your mind off things.
“Sure.” You replied, ready for some colossus snuggles.
Piotr’s room was rigidly neat, as was his lifestyle. Wake up. Breakfast. Workout. Teach. - that’s how his days usually went. But then there was his time with you, which he’s gladly more flexible with.
You and piotr lay snuggled up in his bed, you insisted having the thick fuzzy blanket, it was always cold in his room. ‘Good for keeping germ count down’ he says. ‘Reminds me of home’ he says. But all in all you weren’t complaining, it just meant you got to snuggle up close to your metal man.
“Will you tell me what is wrong ?” Piotr spoke up after a few minutes into cuddling and a movie.
“I just, it’s stupid….”
“Y/n…”Piotr gave you the look. “Not stupid.” He assured you, now sitting up.
You rolled over to face him, mirroring him.
“Look..I saw the mannequin in the store and it was like stupid thin, like not even humanly- or mutantly- possible. Makes me feel insecure even more than I already am”
“No need for you to be unsure of yourself. You are perfect.” He tucked your hair behind your ear. “You are kind, smart, beautiful....I could go on but my English fails me when it comes to adjectives..my point is you are amazing , y/n!”
His comments earning a small smile form you.
“Da, do I see a smile?”
You blushed, his compliments sending you into a tizzy. He was always good at getting you all flustered.
“Yeah, yeah there’s a smile.” you teased.
“I bet I can see a bigger one.”
“Oh no.”
“Dats right.” The expression on Piotr face unmistakeable, you were about to be relentlessly tickled.
As the laughs fell from your lips, Piotr’s heart swelled, he just wanted to see you happy. And if some childish tickling was what it took, then he was happy to oblige.
“Okay! Okay! I give up, You win.” You said breathlessly, only then Piotr stopped his relentless attack of tickles.
“Da. There’s that smile.” He boasted.
“Yeah, yeah.” You said, feigning being upset about never winning the tickle battle.
“I try not to cross boundary, y/n, in all seriousness, I only want for you to see you, how I see you. I want to see your pretty smile and hear your laugh.”
“You’re too sweet Piotr Rasputin.” You leaned up to give him a peck on the lips, but Piotr held your kiss for much longer, and kissed you much deeper.
You liked where this was going.

-
After checking for Keller Dover everywhere- his house, the liquor stores, the church the family attended, and the creepy small town survival gear store- he was no where to be found. You even showed people his picture and asked if they’d seen him, but no luck.
Where in the hell else could he have been??
Ugh
Poor Alex Jones..Can’t believe Keller would do that to him- Wait.
A sick feeling came over you, the kind of feeling you got when looking a murderer in the eyes, or when you get a confession in the interrogation room from someone you know is guilty. That feeling.
Maybe Dover was having a PTSD episode, a psychotic break, or worse, a murderous rampage- His missing daughter driving him to the brink of insanity. He always blamed Alex for the girl’s disappearance, but now that he was done with Alex, maybe he got it in his mind to go after Holly Jones next.
Now knowing what Keller was capable of, you jumped in the car and drive out to the Jones’ residence. You didn’t want Holly to end up like her son.
You called Loki, seeing if he would meet you at the Jones’s place. Better to have a partner in these types of situations.
It rang and rang until it went to voicemail.
Weird.
He usually picked up on the first couple of rings.
That’s okay though. You’d just go by yourself, proceeding with extra caution.
You never thought more of Keller Dover than a concerned parent, in light of recent events, maybe Loki’s obsession with the man wasn’t completely unfounded.
As you headed to the Jones residence, that sick feeling only grew. Nagging at you from the inside.
You tired to call Loki again.
No answer.
Your next step was to call O’Malley, maybe he knew why Loki wasn’t answering.
“O’Malley.” He answered quickly.
“Have you heard from Loki recently?”
“I sent him to notify Holly Jones about Alex about, oh-“ he paused. “A little bit ago.”
Your stomach dropped, your mind automatically assumed the worst. Not that David couldn’t handle himself, but that you tended to worry.
“Why, is everything alright?” He asked,
“I can’t reach Loki, phones going to voicemail. I’ve been searching for Keller Dover, I thought Dover might’ve gone for Holly or something. I’m gonna go over there and check.”
“Let me know if I need to send a unit over.”
“Thanks captain.”
You decided to hightail it to the Jones’ residence. Safely of course, the unfamiliar Pennsylvania roads combined with the darkness and the sleet made driving difficult.
As you were driving, your mind was on Loki. Of course you were thinking about Anna, but in the back of your mind was the earlier unfinished conversation between you and Loki. All the ‘what if’ scenarios swirled around in your brain. What did he want to talk to you about? It was killing you. You thought there was a chance Loki liked you, but he was hard to read. At this point there’s no denying your crush on the man. You didn’t know how much longer you’d be in Conyers, maybe you should rack up the courage to make a move.
The tiniest bit of flashing blue light caught your attention from down the road.
The lights looked like they were heading towards you.
Oh
They were.
They were police lights.
But they weren’t big lights that sat on top like a squad car, no. They were the kind like on a detective’s car.
The car was going fast; recklessly so.
Erratic and urgent.
Before you could get a good look at it, the car zoomed past you, barely giving you time to think.
That wasn’t Loki’s car, was it?
The little bit of it you saw, it did look like it. The pitch black of the Pennsylvania back country made it particularly difficult to see.
You pulled out your phone to call him again.
When it went straight to voicemail, you knew you couldn’t ignore your gut feeling any longer.
Fuck it.
You whipped the car around to follow the other car. It was so far ahead you couldn’t catch up, the faint blue lights your only guide.
Your pulse pounded in your ears as you followed who you were now sure was Loki.
Where are you going in such a hurry, Loki? And why? Why won’t you call me back?
You went ahead and called O’Malley and had him send a unit out to the Jones’ residence. But that was really all you could do, besides hope and pray everything was alright.
-
Loki barged into the ER with a limp Anna Dover in his arms.
His desperate cries for help rang throughout the hospital, demanding the attention of the doctors and pulling the heartstrings of all who were near.
Once she was safely in the hands of the doctors and his adrenaline wore off, he felt white hot heat radiating from his head.
His was vision blurry from the blood in his eyes, or maybe it was from the pain.
The pain.
The fucking pain.
It was a burning, stinging pain that hit him like a ton of bricks.
There was a sharp ringing that invaded his eardrums and he suddenly felt lightheaded, but he needed to stay awake..he needed to move his car from the ER entrance and needed to tell the captain what happened and needed to make sure Anna was okay, and needed (y/n) to..(y/n).. (y/n).
The last thing he remembered was mumbling something to the nurse before his vision faded to black.
-
You shifted in your seat and the old chair creaked under your weight. The nurse had offered to bring in a extra bed for you, but you declined, not wanting to take away form someone who really needed it.
But your ass going numb convinced you that you should’ve at least asked for a better chair.
Loki had been moved out of the ER and into a room for observation.
He laid there all bandaged up, sleeping..well he was unconscious, but saying he was sleeping made you feel better.
Loki wasn’t one of those people who looked peaceful when he slept, his permanent scowl still ingrained on his face.
That beautiful, pouty scowl.
Staring at Loki, you felt a tinge of guilt in your bones. You should’ve figured out it was Holly Jones all along, maybe you could’ve been there with Loki and things would’ve turned out differently.
The forensics team was able to speculate what happened based on the crime scene and, upon further digging, found evidence of dozens of child abductions.
Loki could’ve died. If the bullet went just a few inches over, it would’ve been a whole different story.
You quickly shook the thought form your head, he was here and he was okay. Joy and Anna were alive. Although it was almost a happy ending, it definitely wasn’t the ending to this case you expected.
-
You pulled the car to a screeching halt outside the ER entrance, Loki’s car still sitting outside. Lights on and doors open.
Shit shit shit
You barged in the doors, making a beeline for the front desk, but the commotion of doctors working on a dark haired man caught your eye.
Your stomach dropped.
Loki
He wasn’t conscious.
There was so much blood all over his face.
You closed the distance between you and them in two seconds flat.
“Is he okay?! Whats going on?!” You pleaded with the doctor to let you know something.
“A gunshot wound to the head, just passed out on us.”
A gunshot wound. To the head.
“Is he going to be okay?!” You asked, panicked.
“It only grazed him. We will keep you updated. Now, Ma’am step back please, let us work.”
You stepped back from the medical staff surrounding the detective, giving them their space.
“Please be ok Loki, please” you whispered.
You felt like the air had been knocked out of you. He can’t die, not like this.
You stood there in a daze, watching the doctor and nurses buzz around Loki. You lifted a trembling hand to brush the hair from your face and noticed how clammy your hands were. Suddenly, you were aware of a tightness in your chest and tears pricking the corners of your eyes.
A panic attack.
You tried to force your feet to carry you outside, the cold air would be good to dissolve your panic, but they felt like they were glued to the floor.
When your patients were in crisis you reminded them to do things that were in their control.
Maybe you should take your own advice.
Forcing your brain back into work mode, You turned to go move the cars from the ER entrance and take care of things, but you stopped dead in your tracks noticing the little girl two beds down from Loki.
Anna.
.
“Are you sure about the bed?” The nurse asked as she came in to check on the detective.
“Yeah I’m sure, thank you though.”
“If you change your mind let me know.”
“Thanks.” You replied, thankful for her kindness and her gentleness with David.
She’s nice.
“So how long have you all been together?” She asked, her innocent effort to make small talk turning awkward quickly.
“Oh we’re not…uh..” you stuttered, feeling your cheeks flush
“Oh I’m sorry, I just thought since he asked for you..that..well you know...” She said, giving you a small smile.
“He asked for me?”
“Yeah. Last thing he said before he passed out.”
You couldn’t help the grin that plastered itself onto your face and those pesky butterflies that formed in your gut.
-
2:14 AM.
David stirred from his slumber, a groan escaping his lips. He cracked an eye open, the harsh hospital lights making him cringe.
Hey! He was alive!
He still had ten working fingers and toes. Arms and legs still worked. He was alive and intact, thankful he was in one piece. It was a real miracle he avoided a car crash on the way here.
His fingers brushed over bandages on his injury. In the back of his mind, David knew he’d end up with a massive headache, but every beat of his heart sending pain to his wound was a little much for him. He looked around for the call nurse button. His heart skipped a beat when he looked to his left.
“(Y/n)” he whispered. There she was asleep in the hospital chair. That familiar fuzzy feeling flooded his chest at full force. What was she doing here? How did she know he was here?
He chuckled slightly at the sight of her. How she was able to sleep in such a cramped position, he didn’t know, and how she was able to look so adorable doing so was also a mystery.
(Y/n) was only a moment’s distraction before the throbbing pain returned to his head, he smashed the call nurse button, the commotion awaking (y/n).
Startled, she shot straight up out of the chair. In the few seconds it took her to recognize that it was indeed Loki who pushed the call button and not that he was dying or some other medical emergency, her eyes grew wide and her smile widened.
“You’re awake!” You exclaimed.
“(Y/n), it was Holly!” Loki said, trying to sit up, a groan escaping his lips as he did so. “Where’s Anna? Did she make it? You gotta get the CSU out to the Jones’ right now- she shot me-“
“Loki everything’s okay!” You assured him as you scurried to his bedside, gently grabbing his shoulders and making him lay back down.
Classic Loki, mind always on the case even when he’s laying in the hospital.
“Anna made it, she’s gonna recover. I already took care of everything.” You said, sitting on the edge of the bed.
“You did? How did you-“
“You need to rest.” You interrupted him, smoothing out his blanket, your fingers brushed his- only for a moment.
In that moment, your eyes locked and only then did David truly take a deep breath to calm down.
“How did you know?” He asked.
“I didn’t” you explained. “I was searching for Dover and was worried he’d gone to Holly to do what he did to Alex. I passed you on the way and followed your car back here. The scene has been processed and everything. We can get your statement in the morning, Loki.”
David breathed out a heavy sigh of relief
“Thanks, (l/n) You’re the best.”
“Thanks.” You said softly, unable to hide your blushing at Loki’s compliment.
“Just tell me what happened.”
Before the two of you could exchange any more words, the nurse came scurrying in to the room.
She upped his morphine dosage and cleaned his bandage, then made sure the two of you comfortable. Once again you praised the heavens for her kindness.
Once she left, David went into detail about what happened.
You listened intently, hanging on to his every word.
When he finished, you dropped the eye contact you and David were holding.
“I’m sorry, I should’ve figured out that it was Holly Jones sooner, maybe you wouldn’t gotten hurt and-“
“Hey-hey. it’s not your fault.” he said gently, reaching out to take your hand.
Maybe it was the morphine or the near death experience, but either way David was feeling bold.
Your heart could’ve stopped in that moment, was now a good time to confess your feelings? Should you?
You opted to offer him a small smile instead, you figured he’d been through enough tonight.
“I’m just glad you’re okay.” You told him.
David caressed the back of your knuckles with his thumb sending pleasant chills through you.
“Me too.” He replied.
“So do you need anything? Anything I can do?” You offered.
“I keep a emergency bag in my desk-“
“Got it!” You enthusiastically hopped up, ready to help in any way you could, but David didn’t let go of your hand.
“Wait! Don’t leave. Please.” You stopped in your tracks, glad he wanted you to stay.
“Let O’Malley bring my bag. Please stay.” David begged, those sad blue eyes got you, but he didn’t have to beg. You’d do anything he asked of you.
You sat back down on the edge of the bed.
“Thank you.” He said, his eyes growing heavy.
“Get some rest ok? I’ll be right here.” You said, smoothing his blanket out once again. When you got up to sit back in the chair, you could feel David’s eyes on you.
“What?” You inquired.
“Nothin’.” He murmured, only flashing you a small smile.
You flicked the overhead light off so you could both rest.
You’d definitely tell him how you felt in the morning.
-
David’s eyes lingered on (y/n) as she got up to turn off the light. He should’ve told her how he felt right then.
“What?” She questioned, catching him staring.
David hesitated.
Just tell her, David. Come on.
“Nothin’.” He responded with a tired voice and heavy eyes. He dropped the conversation, opting to let her rest. They’d been through enough tonight. They’d talk in the morning.
-
You made a trip to the cafeteria for breakfast while David showered and changed clothes.
“Hey, hey, look at you, all clean and such.” You praised Loki, coming into the room with coffee and bagels.
David chuckled at your remarks.
“Thanks. Hey, look at this-“
You sat on the bed next to David, leaning in to see the paper.
Barry Milland AKA Alex Jones reunited with family after 26 years
“Poor Barry.” You mumbled.
Lokis eyes stayed glued to the paper, but yours wandered up to his wound.
He looked a lot better this morning and was doing much better.
“It’s rude to stare you know.” Loki teased, cracking a sly smile.
“Yeah, well, you look like shit.” You teased back, a cheesy grin plastered itself across your face.
You tried to hold in your amusement as Loki gave you a funny look, but couldn’t help it as giggles escaped your lips.
Then, Loki started laughing too.
It was a good laugh. A real one.
After laughing too long at your own joke, you looked over at David, only to find him already looking at you.
Loki’s expression was soft, his usual scowl nowhere to be found.
“What?” You questioned.
Loki, seemingly mesmerized by you, was at a loss for words. His brain? Total mush.
You noticed his eyes moving between your eyes and lips, searching for a sign.
You leaned in, closing the gap between you and the detective- Loki’s sign that yes you wanted this. You wanted this since the moment you laid eyes on him. Finally.
Your lips connected oh so gently but in a way that sent sparks down your spine. The kiss was soft and-
“Detective Loki? Agent (l/n)?”
The two of you pulled apart quickly
There was Grace, Anna, Joy and Nancy all standing at the door.
Loki cleared his throat and you both tired to act like she didn’t interrupt.
“I hope we’re not intruding.”
Loki shook his head and mumbled “no” even though they obviously were. But you knew it’s be good for him to see the girls.
It particularly warmed your heart hearing her refer to Loki as a hero.
They continued talked for a minute, well, Grace Keller did, Loki was a man of few words. You had the thought to weigh in, but you couldn’t concentrate, those damn butterflies in your stomach were doing somersaults.
“Thank you two, for everything.”
Grace said and turned to leave, but stopped at the door, breaking down in tears. She tried convincing you and Loki Keller was a good man, but you and Loki exchanged knowing looks.
Not prepared to face the awkwardness of the situation, you couldn’t bring yourself to look at the detective after she left.
Lucky for you, Loki suddenly grabbed your chin, tilting your head towards him and his lips captured yours in a hungry and needy kiss.
A stark contrast to your kiss a minute prior, fire burned through your chest as your lips moved in sync with David’s.
Loki moved his hand to cup your cheek and you absolutely melted into his touch.
You broke apart from David, breathless and with a smile on your face.
“Sorry I didn’t do that sooner.” David said, his thumb stroking your cheekbone,
“Yeah me too.” You replied, still high from the bliss of your first kiss with the handsome detective.
“Look, (l/n), I uh-“
“Hey..Call me (f/n)” you interrupted, sad that David removed his hand from your cheek.
“Okay, (f/n),” he said. “I’m uh not too good with feelings and shit, but I uh, I really like you.”
“I like you too.” You gushed.
Davids eyes lit up, almost like a kid on Christmas.
“You do?” He questioned.
“Yes David, I do.” You gave him a reassuring smile. “And that kiss told me all I needed to know.”
David blushed.
David Loki blushing, you didn’t think such a thing could happen.
“Glad you enjoyed it.” He said, a smug smile replacing his blushing cheeks.
Your turn to blush.
“How do you uh, feel about long distance? I mean I’ve never done it before- but I’d be down to..you know.
“Me neither, but I think we make a pretty good team, so I think we can make it work.”
Yes!! He wanted to make this work. Now the butterflies in your belly weren’t just doing somersaults, it was more like the butterfly Olympics down there.
“Yeah?” He questioned, giddy like a child.
“Yeah.” You assured him, giving his arm a squeeze.
The day shift nurse came in to finally discharge David. She sent him home with a dozen care info papers and aftercare instructions, none of which David was likely to read or follow through with.
“Let’s get you home.” You said. “At least for a bit.” You knew Loki would not stop searching for Keller Dover. He was determined, you’d give him that. You also weren’t gonna let Loki drive home by himself after being shot in the head, even though he insisted he was fine.
“Yeah. Home.” He agreed.
David’s thoughts began to race while you began to gather your things.
Loki was hopeful, for the first time in a long time. He had a feeling that, eventually, home would be wherever (y/n) was.

The faux fur of your thick winter jacket tickled your neck, the chilly wind blowing the soft fibers directly on you. You wrapped the long fibers around your fingers and gave a tug, easily ripping them out.
As you let the wind blow the fur from your fingers, tears began to well up in your eyes and your throat tightened.
The fibers were gone. Missing from your jacket forever, never to be reunited with the other strands of fur. Gone..for the rest of your life.
You turned your attention to Piotr, tears rolled down his face in a continuous cascade. He was standing right next to you, but he felt a million miles away.
You wished you could comfort him, you wished you knew how. But you could barely console yourself through your own grief.
It was the dead of winter, cold and bitter, but it couldn’t compare to the bitterness within your heart.
There was a point in time when you would’ve laid down your life for your fellow X- Men. A time when you trusted them with your own life. A time when your team truly felt like a family.
A simpler time.
You had many fond memories of your time at Xavier’s Institute. You’d met Piotr there, even married him there. It’s where your first held your son in your arms. You formed unbreakable bonds with your friends, taught and trained many students, Including your son, Ilya.
But now you couldn’t even bear to look at it, couldn’t bear to be in it.
The officiant finished the eulogy and gave a slight nod towards you and Piotr. Together, you two walked up to the simple pine box, Piotr letting out a wavering breath.
You dragged your gloved fingers along the grain. It was a mighty fine piece of woodwork, the best around.
Piotr spoke first,
“до свидания мой сын.” (Goodbye, my son) he said, placing his and Ilya’s favorite book on the casket.
“Покойся с миром, мой ребенок.” (rest in peace, my child) you said and placed a flower on top of the book.
You watched as your fellow X-men placed trinkets and things on the casket. Ilya was loved by so many.
You buried him on the highest hillside on Piotr’s family’s farm. You and Piotr declined to bury him at the mansion, you wanted him to rest in peace, to be far away from the life that got him killed.
You couldn’t help but feel hatred towards your team, they were supposed to keep each other safe. It was a stupid mistake..but it cost your son, your only child, his life. It was so easily preventable, yet it still happened. The team knew your anxiety and your worries, they knew their promise to keep him safe. They knew struggle you had to go through to have your son. He was just learning to be a X-Man. He was so eager to follow in your and Colossus’ footsteps. Ilya was so excited to go on his first mission.
He had been going on missions since he was 16. You and Piotr were so damn proud of him, you’d just started letting him go on missions without you and his father.
You were regretting that decision right about now.
You remembered Piotr saying “the boy is 21 years old ,my dear, he will be okay…he’s the best parts of you and me. Besides, we are getting old, time to let the young students take care of things.”
And of course you sassed back with a comment about how he’s getting old, not you…even though your joints popped when got got out of bed in the morning and you went to bed at the ripe old time of 9pm. Oh the life of an X-Man.
“Some life” you scoffed to yourself.
You and Piotr had given decades of your lives to the X-Men and this was your reward?? Unimaginable grief? Pain?
.
Over the next few months, Piotr only grew more distant, your grief driving a wedge between you two. You thought things were looking up when he said he had something planned for the two of you.
But your stomach turned when the car pulled up to the residence of none other than sworn enemy of the X-Men, Magneto.
“Piotr w-what’s happening?” You asked, your voice panic-stricken.
He turned towards you and took your hands in his.
“My feelings of anger, hurt, and betrayal have not gone away since Ilya’s funeral. I no longer feel like part of the X-Men. So I have sought a place where I do belong…where we belong.” He explained, rubbing his thumbs along the back of your hands.
“But Magneto’s brotherhood?!” You nearly yelled.
“Please..hear them out (y/n), hear me out.”
You took a deep breath.
“Okay.” You surrendered.
You two walked up to the elegant front door, a botanical pattern was delicately carved into the pine.
Pine.
Piotr knocked and not even two seconds later, Eric Lehnsherr opened the door. Must’ve been expecting you.
“Hello, Piotr.”
“привет.”(hello) He greeted, you could tell this wasn’t their first meeting.
“(Y/n). My condolences.” Magneto extended his hand and you hesitantly shook it.
“Thanks.” You said, stepping inside.
-
After that night at Magneto’s you and Piotr had decided to give each other some much needed time and space away from each other and the X-mansion.
You were just starting to feel okay when there was a knock at your door.
It was Scott and Ororo.
“We got wind that Colossus is being held at Magneto’s place.”
“Held?”
They nodded.
You knew that no one could really “hold” Colossus, you’d seen him plow his way through many enemies, so you figured something else was up.
Your stomach began to churn, there’s no way he actually joined Magneto right? Piotr, your lawful good, protein bar- eating, wouldn’t hurt an innocent fly, husband..surely not, right?
You got in the car with Ororo, Scott, Logan, Kurt, and Charles.
You exchanged polite greetings but nothing further. They felt distant from you, your loss leaving you a shell of your former self.
-
Residence of the brotherhood of evil mutants.
The car pulled to a halt outside of the house. You were the last to exit the car, standing behind everyone else.
You were greeted by Eric standing in the doorway.
“Where’s Colossus?” Scott asked, getting straight to the point, leaving to time for pleasantries.
Magneto wordlessly stepped aside, letting Piotr step outside. You almost didn’t recognize him. His once colorful, red and yellow uniform, now black and gray. Sad.
Everyone was shocked to see him there, willingly, including you.
“Colossus, my friend, what- what’s going on? Let’s go home.” Kurt begged.
He walked down the steps, getting closer to the people who he once considered his family.
“Life as an x-man..It has taken my son from me, it has taken a toll on my body, taken time away from me that could’ve been spent with my wife. What will you take next? My freedom?! My own life?!”
“Colossus it was an accident! We all miss Ilya dearly.”
“You do not miss him like I do, like we do.” Colossus said, pointing towards you.
“This is crazy Colossus, come on.” Scott begged.
Piotr let out a heavy sigh.
“What hurts the most is-“ he paused, feeling tears well up. But now wasn’t a time for tears. “You all acting like he never existed, ignoring the pain myself and (y/n) are feeling! Not one of you volunteered to teach our classes, help with his memorial, and not one of you sorry, selfish, pricks protected him!”
The team was quiet, reflecting on Piotr’s words. They did help with those things, but they guessed it wasn’t in the way Piotr needed.
You had never seen him so angry.
You walked to the forefront of the group, not believing your eyes. Your sweet husband, turning away from everything good.
“Piotr…” you started, your voice cracking. You hadn’t seen him in months.
Upon seeing you, he transformed out of defense mode and closed the gap between him and you, his scowl softening.
You stopped a moment to take him in. His eyes were tired, his hair more gray than the last time you saw him. His frown lines were more engraved on his face, he hadn’t shaved in a while either.
Just then and only then, you saw just how much losing Ilya, being a part from you, and losing his X-family affected him. His heart was shattered.
“Baby, please, come home.” You pleaded, your voice threatening to break.
He only stared at you.
Wordlessly, he held out his hand, wanting you to take it. To join him.
You hesitated, the events of recent months played over in your mind.
You reached out to take his hand, but stopped half way. You drowned out the rest of the team yelling at you to stop.
“They care about me, (y/n). About us, about mutant kind. They take care of their own, not leaving them to be slaughtered like livestock.”
You glanced back at the others, desperately trying to get to you, but were being held back by Magneto’s powers.
You turned your attention back to Colossus, his hand still outstretched.
You hesitated once again, debating whether or not to take his hand. You met his gaze, those baby blue eyes told you everything you needed to know.
You’d made your decision.

It was another one of those days. One of the days where your thoughts so easily snowballed out of control.
Leaving the bed seemed impossible, so you didn’t.
You rolled onto your side, pulling the blanket up to your chin. The bright sun from the window made you squint your eyes; it was a nice day out, but you wouldn’t be one of the many people enjoying it.
Wade was off on a mission with the X-force and, as always, you were anxiously awaiting his return. You knew he could heal from anything. Like anything. Part of you always worried about him though.
You decided to shower that way atleast one thing in house would be clean when Wade got home. You wished the water would wash away more than the dirt on your skin, you figured your mind could use a good cleaning too.
You decided to move your post shower party to the living room couch, to be ready for Wade’s arrival. Him being away for so long was killing you.
The sound of the front door unlocking pulled you from a daze.
Wade.
You were excited he was here, but your body was rooted on the couch, no matter how hard you willed to move it.
Wade threw his duffel bag down and immediately came over to lay some lovin’ on you.
“Fuck I’m tired, I think right here is a great place to sleep.” He joked laying on top of you, putting nearly all his body weight on you, playfully squishing you. His way of saying he was ready for some down time.
But when you didn’t playfully respond , his demeanor changed.
“Hey..what’s wrong” his voice soft and comforting.
“Bad day.” The words barely rolling off your tongue.
“I’m sorry y/n.” He gave you a reassuring kiss on the forehead.
“Need to talk? Or just rest?”
“Rest.” You confirmed.
“Deal. We’ll relax after I shower, ok? I smell like shit.”
You only nodded in response.
He did smell bad, not unusual for post-mission Deadpool.
Wade came back to the couch with comfort snacks and a big weighted blanket perfect for snuggles.
He snuggled you in his arms tightly, gently stroking your hair and doing deep breathing with you.
To the world, Wade could be vulgar, mean, fucked up, even shitty.
But to you, he was damn near perfect.

Joy Birch has been found alive.
The feeling of relief that washed over Loki and (y/n) was one like no other when they had learned the news, but the state of relief didn’t last long as there was no sign of Anna.
But the news came at, perhaps, the most inopportune time. Loki had finally worked up the nerve to tell (y/n) how he felt, but as if the universe was giving him the middle finger, their talk was interrupted by the good news. But at the least, it was good news
Loki rounded the hallway corner, heading straight for (y/n’s) desk.
He stopped, suddenly getting cold feet.
He quickly ducked into the bathroom. He checked himself once over in the mirror, putting back the one strand of unruly hair. He was sure the feelings were mutual, he didn’t doubt that. He saw the big signs like the flirting and the playful banter, yes, but he didn’t miss the little signs either. Like the way she smiled at him, or the occasional featherlight touch from her that sent pleasant chills down his spine every time, or the way she immediately perked up the first time they met. He didn’t doubt these things, the evidence as he called it, he was just a little rusty when it came to matters of the heart.
Loki waltzed up to her desk, she spun around eagerly upon hearing his footsteps.
“Are the footprints a match?” She asked.
Loki, trying to calm the butterflies in his stomach, replied with a simple “yes.”
He looked down at the ground, then back up at her, his blue eyes staring straight into hers.
“Can we talk?”
His question created a pit in (y/n’s) stomach.
“Sure.” She replied, trying to maintain her optimism. “Is everything alright?”
“Yeah.” Loki said, (y/n’s) doe-eyed expression, a mix of worry and curiosity, made David’s heart jump. She looked so cute with wide eyes and barely parted lips.
Lips that he wanted to taste so badly.
In the time it took him to walk over to the office from the lab, he had created a well composed speech in his head. But the question of whether or not it would come out so well orchestrated was up in the air. He was prepared to just get his feelings out and whatever way they made it out- word vomit or affection filled confession- he was sure (y/n) would understand.
Just as he began to speak, he was interrupted by the ringing of his cellphone.
“Fuck.”
He looked at the caller ID
Conyers Medical Center
“Fuck. I’m sorry. Hang on.” He excused himself.
.
Swept up in the whirlwind that was finding Joy and getting down to the hospital, Loki hadn’t gotten the chance to continue their conversation. It was killing them both.
Thinking of how much he hated to leave (y/n) hanging, he was wishing she came with him to the hospital. She had stayed at the office to prepare a forensic interview for Joy- it was their best shot at finding Anna.
Directing all of these fucking people was getting on David’s nerves.. shooing off the press, preparing the family, doctors and nurses to be directed to follow forensic protocol. He so wished (y/n) was here to help. ‘She’s probably real good at this sort of thing’ he thought- which is why a small wave of relief washed over him as he heard her voice coming down the hallway.
“(Y/n)!” He motioned her over to where he was hiding amongst the hospital vending machines- taking a quick break from all the people.
“How is she?” You questioned, clutching the thick stack of papers close to your chest.
“She’s stable. No major physical injuries, they did a rape kit and didn’t find anything. Drugged pretty heavy so I don’t know if we’ll get anything out of her.
You let out a sigh of relief.
“Okay. I’m prepared to do a full interview. Ready when you are.” You said and gave Loki a quick nod.
You found it humorous Loki was hiding amongst the vending machines, cause that exactly the same type of shit you’d do. Maybe it was meant to be.
“I’ve got officer John and Chemlelinski posted at the entrance. No one in the room except the family.” Loki told you as he walked with you to the Birch’s hospital room.
“Good…Hey. Uh..what did you wanna talk about earlier?” You questioned, nervous to bring it up, but you were dying to know what Loki was going to say.
“Um…” Loki rubbed the back of his neck. “I uh-“
“Detective Loki, the Dover family is here.” Officer Carter informed as he nearly collided with you and Loki coming around the corner.
He pinched his brow. “Fuck.”
“I said nobody’s allowed in that room but her family.” David spat at the officer as the two of you hurried down the hall. Rounding the corner, you were met with Keller Dover who turned on his heel upon seeing you and the detective.
“Hey! Where you goin’?” Loki’s question was ignored by Keller.
“Keller?” Grace questioned.
“Hey! Where’s he going?” Loki asked.
“I don’t know.” She stated.
“Hey!” He yelled once again as Keller took off into a sprint.
“Call downstairs, don’t let him go.” Loki ordered the front desk nurse.
“(Y/n) stay with the family I’ve got him.”
“Sure.” You said with the full intention of letting Loki run after Keller Dover, your lazy ass would be happy to stay with the family.
“Hey! Hey!!” Loki yelled as he and officer John took off after him.
David’s increasingly odd obsession with Keller Dover aside, your focus was the family.
You gave a quiet knock on the door, the Birch’s motioning for you to come in.
“Hello Nancy, Franklin.” You greeted giving them a nod.
“I’ve got some resources for you here.” You said handing Nancy the packet of papers. “I’ve got everything in there that you may need; from the best trauma therapists in the state, to financial help with hospital bills. I wasn’t sure what exactly you needed so I covered all the bases.”
“Thank you.” She replied.
You then turned to Joy. Your heart broke upon seeing her small body laying in the hospital bed.
But at least you weren’t looking at her in the morgue.
“Hi, Joy, I’m Dr. (L/N).” You introduced yourself, plastering on your best fake smile. “I need to ask you some questions ok? I need you to help me find Anna, will you be brave enough to help me do that?”
She nodded yes.
“Great.”
.
After talking with Joy, you quickly found out you wouldn’t get a whole lot from her. She was in and out of consciousness, the drugs having a strong effect on her petite body You’d have to try again later when she was alert.
You gathered your things and stepped outside the hospital room. With a big sigh, you felt your eyes begin to water, tearing up.
It was always tough doing those kinds of interviews, especially with kids.
She didn’t have any physical injuries, no, but what she had been through would leave a lasting mental scar. Poor thing.
Thankfully the ringing of your cellphone pulled you from your dismal thoughts.
It was Loki.
“Hello?”
“I found Alex Jones at Dover’s apartments.”Loki said, getting straight to the point as usual. “He’s headed to the ER by ambulance.. the kid is beat half to death, burns all over him and shit. I didn’t recognize him at first. Looks like Keller was fucking torturing him, (y/n), literal torture.”
“Holy shit. Did you arrest him?”
“No, if I knew where the motherfucker was I would!”
“Fuck! He’s not there?!” You yelled in disbelief. If he wasn’t there where the hell was he?
“We need to find him ASAP. God knows what he’s doing right now.”
“Yeah. I’ll get on it.”
“Thanks. You get anything outta Joy?”
“No, she’s too out of it, Going to try again later. I’ll keep you updated.”
“Okay. I’m waiting on the crime scene unit to get here to process the scene. Thanks, (l/n).” He said and hung up, preoccupied with his discovery of Alex.
Good thing Loki called you before you left the hospital. And even more of a convenience, the three people that knew Keller Dover best were all in one place so Interviewing them for Dovers profile would be easy.
.
You stepped out of the hospital room and looked out the window. It was dark out now, the gray winter day had quickly come to an end.
You shifted focus to your reflection in the window, you hoped David found big eye bags attractive because you were definitely rocking them at this point. You didn’t look quite like a raccoon but the resemblance was there.
Dark under eye circles aside, deep diving into the seemingly simple life of Keller Dover had left you with a few things.
He was in the US Army, which could explain the methods of brutal torture inflicted on Alex. A stressful situation- like your daughter being kidnapped- could trigger some PSTD. The last thing that stuck with you, was what Grace told you Joy said to him..”you were there.”
He was where? What did that even mean?
You decided to drive around and check out all the places Keller Dover frequented in the hope that he would be there.

Arcades and Anniversaries
Pairing: Colossus AKA Piotr Rasputin x Reader
Summary: Request “reader and colossus having fun at an arcade.”
@chromecutie requested this from me a while ago and I’ll be honest I forgot abt it so sorry K! I love you!
After the latest chapter of smooth criminal I posted last Friday being so angsty I’m posting some fluff for my and your sake. So here’s this quick little thing.
-
“Soooo where are we going babe?” You asked Colossus as he held the car door open for you.
“Darling for the hundredth time I cannot tell you, it is surprise.”
“Must be somewhere fancy, since you had me put on my fancy clothes.” You stated, hopping in the passenger seat.
Piotr didn’t say anything as he got into the drivers seat and started the car.
You and him were celebrating your anniversary and from the looks he has something big planned.
You two were dressed to the nines, Piotr looked absolutely divine in his suit.
You were thinking maybe he planned an evening at an art gallery followed by fancy restaurant.
Needless to say you were surprised when the car pulled up to an arcade.
But it wasn’t just any arcade.
It was where you and Piotr went on your first date so long ago.
“Surprise!” Piotr cheerfully exclaimed.
“The arcade?” You questioned. As you two got out of the car.
“Da! To recreate first date!”
“Piotr that’s so sweet of you! I love it. I love you.” You gushed, standing on your top toes to give him a kiss on the cheek.
“Lets go” you said, grabbing his hand and pulling him inside.
Once inside you noticed the place was empty except for a few employees.
“Why’s there no one else here?”
“I rented the place out for the evening. To save embarrassment when I kick your butt.”
“Oh it is on!” You challenged him, immediately going for the skeeball machine.
You remembered when Piotr had first moved to America. The two of you instantly clicked, becoming best friends and lovers not long after that. Piotr had never been to an arcade before, so you took it upon yourself to take him. Being teenagers, it was all you two could do to scrape enough money together for a gaming pass. He was terrible at the games at first, but with your help, got the hang of them quickly. Warm feelings filled your chest as you remembered the early days of your relationship.
After an hour or two of kicking Piotr’s butt at arcade games, you had acquired enough tickets for a decent prize.
You got up close to the counter to get a good eye on your prize while Piotr stood a bit behind you.
“Hmmmm…what should I pick Petey? The stuffed animal maybe? Or maybe the dart board? Would be good for the kiddos back at the mansion.”
“How about this?” He said.
You turned around to behold Piotr down on one knee, holding a ring box.
Before Piotr could give the loving- and let’s be honest- lengthy speech he had prepared, you flung your self into his arms.
“Yes, yes, yes, Piotr! Of course I will!” You exclaimed, kissing his face all over.
“Da?” He questioned. “You will marry me?”
“Yes!” You said, happy tears now streaming down your face.
He got up off his knee and scooped you up, spinning you around.
He sat you back down ever so gently, it was then you let him place the ring on your finger.
He looked at you, complete love and adoration in his eyes.
You couldn’t wait to officially become Mrs. Rasputin.

-The next morning-
It was raining and raining, hard. The sun refused to come out from behind the clouds. You watched the raindrops roll down the window in the break room. Leaning your head against the cold glass, you checked your phone. Again. No notifications.
You’d been waiting on Loki to call you with any info, but you’d just be happy to hear from him. He was out tailing Keller Dover. You were back at the station trying to find a lead on your prime suspect.
You grabbed your snack from the vending machine and walked back towards your desk.
You felt your phone vibrating in your pocket.
Well speak of the devil.
“Yeah?” Your opening remark getting strait to the point, leaving no time for pleasantries. Loki must have been rubbing off on you.
“Hey, Dover caught me following him so I’m heading back. He’s definitely hiding something.”
“Damn.” You replied, biting your nail. It was an anxious habit you’d yet to quit.
“Yeah. So get this…Mrs. Dover thinks Keller has been helping us this whole time. She has no idea where he’s really been.”
“Oh hell.” Your words oozing with irritation. Just what you guys needed was to chase after Keller Dover.
“And she called me last night thinking Anna had come home all cause a damn window was open in the house. She isn’t gonna be any help. She’s been taking sleeping pills this whole time.” Loki let out a sigh.
“Oh great.” Sarcasm rolling off your tongue with ease.
“Found a bag of Lye in their basement- which, by the way, is like a dooms day pepper’s dream- half used.”
“Well that may be a bad sign for us finding Alex Jones..if Dover did do something to him. Under high heat and pressure, lye can turn corrosive enough to disintegrate a body.”
“Yeah.” Loki sighed. “I know.”
“Shit.” You anxiously a hand through your hair.
“Well, I don’t think Dover killed him. He’s sure that Alex knows where the girls are, won’t kill his only lead.”
“Yeah.” Loki said. “Maybe”
Silence lingered only for a moment, and in that moment you saw your opportunity.
“Hey..uh…you wanna go and grab lunch?” You asked, nervously fidgeting with the lid on your coffee cup. You felt like a teenager asking out their crush, except you weren’t a teenager and you were working and hungry.
“Um..” His heart was screaming yes, but his brain was screaming no. He had to solve this case, needed to before time ran out, before it consumed him.
“Uh..not now. Really need to find out what Dover’s been doing and find our guy from yesterday. There’s a good place you can order from-“
“Yeah, no of course, the case.” You interrupted. “See you back at the station then.” You said and abruptly hung up the phone. That did make you a little upset, which was stupid, but you were really looking forward to getting lunch with him. Just him. Not sharing a table with three others in the break room, eating while working, or eating by yourself at your desk. You wanted lunch with Loki. Hell, forget lunch, you’d settle for just the detective.
You hoped Loki’s refusal wasn’t personal. You had overheard that Loki solved every case he’d ever been assigned, you guessed he didn’t get that track record by going out for lunch with co workers.
.
Loki walked into the bullpen, his jaw clenched and shoulders stiff. He was desperately hoping y/n was able to get a lead. Didn’t help that he’d just been in a yelling match Keller Dover..again.
His body became less tense at the sight of y/n, who was currently talking on the phone.
David sat at his desk and began to search for more background on Keller Dover. He couldn’t help but glance over at y/n.
God, she was so pretty.
Almost like she felt him staring, she turned and locked eyes with the detective for a moment. Lokis heart definitely skipped a beat but he wouldn’t admit that. She flashed a polite smile, then went back to writing down a few notes.
“Okay, thank you. Bye.” She hung up.
David expected y/n to immediately swivel her chair towards him and tell him if she’s got a lead.
He wanted to see her eyes light up cause she found something and he wanted to hear the sweet sound of her voice.
She didn’t.
She didn’t even say hi, just kept working.
Unusual for her.
David thought to himself for a minute.
What could be wrong? Other than present circumstances, of course.
‘See you back at the station then.’ Her words echoed in his mind.
She’s upset about lunch? Damn it. Should’ve said yes. Maybe I should apologize? But it’s only lunch, isn’t it? Am I overthinking it? Is y/n overthinking it?
Just talk to her.
Right. Talking.
He tapped his fingers nervously on the desk, glancing at y/n once more.
Play it cool David, play it cool.
Just ask her if she’s got any leads.
“Got anything?” He finally asked.
She let out a sigh.
“Almost.”
Loki raised his brow, encouraging her to elaborate.
“I got results back from sending the sketches of our suspect to my people back home. I had them run the sketches with FBI facial recognition software- Comparing them with Pennsylvania drivers Licenses. It came back with only 5 results. I’ve confirmed 2 of 5 alibis. Working on the rest.”
“That’s..fuck, that’s great.” He said, growing excited at such a good lead.
Loki hesitated before his next sentence.
“So..what happened to ‘staying on the same page’ ?”
Y/n’s demeanor changed before Loki even finished his sentence. She drew into herself, crossing her arms as she spoke, “I’m sorry, Loki. I just get really zoned into my work sometimes. And like you, I’m not used to having a partner, you know?”
Y/n rolled her chair back to her desk.
“Yeah. I know.” Loki replied.
In the field, he was trained so he could handle almost any situation, but his relationships were a different story. Loki had always been a loner, never really getting close with anyone.
Loki and Y/n worked at their desks for a while, both afraid to create tension with the other.
.
“Huh.” Loki remarked, leaning back in his chair.
Y/n leaned back in her own chair, peering out from behind the narrow cubicle wall that divided their desks.
Loki noticed her staring and motioned for you to come look at his computer.
David hoped y/n would view the gesture as an olive branch, albeit unnecessary, as the perceived tension between him and y/n was purely based on raised emotions and the two of them running on empty. David had come to learn over the last six days, emotions were tricky things to navigate, especially when y/n was around.
She rolled over to him in her chair, leaning in close. Loki caught a whiff of her perfume, he was immediately intoxicated by the scent. It suited her.
Y/n’s brows knitted in confusion
“William Dover Obituary?”
“Look.” Loki pointed to his computer screen. “Dover’s father killed himself when Keller was a teen. Left Keller the house. I bet that’s where he’s going during the day and possibly keeping Alex Jones. I’m gonna go check it out.”
He stood, putting on his coat.
“I’ll keep on these leads, let you know when I have something.” Y/n replied, flashing him another polite smile.
Loki returned it with the same gesture.
On the drive to Dover’s dad’s old apartment building, Loki grew increasingly suspicious of the man, especially when he pulled up to the property. It was super dilapidated and he was sure the inside looked worse.
After entering through the window, Loki’s suspicions were confirmed. It was a perfect place to hide a body among other crimes.
He entered what he assumed was a living area only to find Mr. Dover laying on the floor. Loki hoping he hadn’t drank himself to death since their earlier conversation.
“Hey, rise and shine.” Loki said, kicking him.
Not dead, just drunk.
.
Loki’s tour of the building was cut short by his phone ringing.
“Shit.”
Caller ID: (f/n) (l/n)
If anyone was going to interrupt him, he was glad it was y/n.
“Hello?”
“Loki! I’ve got our guy!” Yn was practically yelling. “The Clerk from the mall called, got his license plate and he’s the last guy on my list. Bob Taylor. 437 Carrol Street. Meet you there.”
“Yeah? Ok. Meet you there.” He replied and slipped his phone back in his pocket.
“Go home Mr. Dover” he ushered and hurried out the door.

The Implicit Demand For Proof (Chapter 12)
Pairing: Detective David Loki x reader
Summary: you, a forensic psychologist, get called in on a high priority child abduction case in Conyers, PA. What happens when you catch feelings for the mysterious detective Loki?
Warnings: spoilers for the movie, movie level violence, slight change of events, language. talk of death and su*cide, angry Loki, angry reader.

-
David unlocked his front door with a heavy sigh. He shed his thick jacket and heavy boots and set his empty travel cup by the sink. He really needed to do the dishes, they were piling up. He opened the fridge, not because he was hungry, no, he had lost his appetite hours beforehand- Bob Taylor’s incident replaying over and over in his mind. He opened it but more out of pure habit, there was nothing there really. He been putting off grocery shopping, but to be fair, the food he bought usually went bad because he was rarely home to eat it.
David made his way to the shower, hoping the water would wash away more than just dirt and sweat.
Didn’t work so well for washing away guilty feelings.
He got out, dried himself then wrapped the towel around his waist.
He stood in front of the foggy mirror, water from his hair dripping onto the floor. He wiped a section away, only big enough so see his face.
He started intently at the man in the mirror, his expression turning sour.
“Stupid.” He muttered.
After putting on his pjs he slid under the covers, his body rejoicing at the prospect of slumber.
About a hour or two into his much needed sleep, Loki’s dreams were interrupted by his phone buzzing loudly against the oak nightstand.
Fuck
He should’ve just turned the damn thing off.
He looked at the caller ID
Dr. (F/n) (l/n)
He would’ve hit ignore if it was anyone but her
“Hello?” He murmured, barely awake.
“Loki I’ve got it- I don’t think Bob did it, the profile doesn’t match and-“
“Whoa, (y/n) slow down, please.” He said, his voice coarse. “I just woke up, I was actually sleeping for once.”
He sat up and rubbed his eyes.
“Oh sorry. I just assumed you’d be awake. “
“How long have you been up?” He asked.
“Um I haven’t slept. But that’s not important. What I’m trying to say is that I think the girls are still out there!”
Loki sighed, sitting up, the chilly night air invading his previously blanket- clad body. “okay..let’s hear it.”
“He said he killed them, but he’s not organized enough to pull something like this off.”
You could feel Loki’s confusion through the phone.
“The type of person that took these kids has done this before, they’re organized. And they have a mission; one that they would do anything to see it through to the end. They want to know the pain they’ve caused the families, to know they did that. Bob Taylor is not that. Bob Taylor is too hesitant and disorganized. You saw the shit drawn on his walls Loki, think about his behavior. Think about it.” You urged him.
Loki thought a moment, realizing what you were saying makes sense. But he was a man of facts..evidence.
“Or he did what he did so he wouldn’t sit in prison, (y/n). Plus, wheres the proof?! We need evidence.”
Loki’s heart rate began to rise and he grew a tinge angry at her. But for Loki, a tinge was just enough for all those big emotions to come flooding back.
“A profile isn’t proof. We can’t give these families false hope on a hunch! The families each identified clothing, (y/n). The girls clothes. And right now the evidence is pointing to Bob Taylor. Who’s dead now because of me!”
She was silent. He shouldn’t have yelled.
“(Y/N), listen-“
“No Loki you listen- I’m telling you something is off here. So you gotta cut that shit out and get back to looking for the girls.”
He sighed.
“Loki, did you pull the trigger on that gun?”
“What?” He questioned.
“Did you pull the trigger? Or did Bob?”
“Bob did, but-“
“Then it’s not your fault. Bob is the one who made that decision. Not you.“
Loki opened his mouth to speak but the words couldn’t make it out.
“Well get a fresh start in the morning. I’ll let you get back to sleep.”
“Yeah…You too.” He said with a gentle tone, hoping that it would convey to (y/n) that I’m not mad at you I’m mad at myself and this whole situation. I think you’re very smart and pretty and there’s something about you that makes me feel all fuzzy inside and I don’t know what to do about it.
But she hung up the phone with a quiet “bye, Loki.”
.
The next morning
You arrived at the station before Loki which was a surprise, he had been at his desk already working by the time you entered the door almost every day.
O’Malley had asked you into his office, presumably to talk more about last night.
“We’re going to deploy cadaver dogs when forensics is finished with the house. So when the case is officially closed, we can cut you loose, Dr. (L/n). Thank you again for coming. Sorry it didn’t have a happy ending.”
“Yeah, me too.” You replied.
“I’m, uh..sorry about detective Loki.” He sighed. “He can be-“ he paused. “Personally invested. He’s a good kid though.”
You nodded and excused yourself back to your desk.
You decided to keep your theory from the captain, at least until you could find some semblance of hard evidence to support your claim.
.
David sat in the captains office, expecting to get a good talking-to.
“Atleast I don’t have to worry about losing you to PSP.”
He refused the scotch the captain offered him.
“When forensics is finished with the guys place we’re gonna deploy the cadaver dogs.”
Loki didn’t say anything, as he was pre-occupied by Bob Taylor’s “map” he drew.
“Look kid we can’t always save the day, alright? We’re just cops. Janitors.”
Loki only started at the paper on the ground, half listening to his superior’s words.
“So you lost this one all right? Look, you want fulfillment? You need to find a girl, you know? Start a family, have some kids.” The captain hesitated before his next words.
“(L/n) seems nice, smart too.”
Loki glared up at him.
O’Malley gave him a knowing look.
“You need to let it go, Loki.”
“We done?” Loki’s question coming out as more of a statement.
.
As Loki came out of the captains office, you noticed his fists clenched and shoulders stiff.
Right before your eyes, in a fit of rage, Loki shoved everything off his desk. Sending it all clattering to the floor. He took the keyboard and smashed it against the hard surface of the desk, keys flying in all directions.
You understood now, what the guy from the search team said about Loki’s good mood. Because what you just witnessed was Loki’s bad mood.
You got up and went to the break room to give Loki some space, as much as you wondered what happened to him for him to get that angry and to express it in such a way- you were not about to be in the middle of it all.
In the break room, you found yourself amongst three other detectives making their first cup of coffee for the day.
It made you a bit anxious as you hadn’t really talked with anyone but Loki. Your nerves eased when they offered you a cup, saying anyone who worked that closely with David Loki would need it.
Before you could get another word in, Loki barged in. He had a real knack for showing up right when people were talking about him.
“(L/N), Forensics found something we need to see.”

The Ex X-Man
Pairing: colossus x reader
Summary: @mystikalstalker asked “Hey! I love your blog and writings and if you are not too busy I have a story idea. Reader (Ex-x-man or just normal person) is dating Piotr, but has not told him about her prosthetic legs. Ps. I really love you, keep going!”
A/n - so sorry this took so long, I hope you like it. Ps. I love you too! pps. some tags didnt work. comments and reblogs help me out the most I hope you enjoy!
perm tags: (tag list is open! send me an ask if you want to be tagged, removed or only tagged for certain characters.) @chromecutie @xenomorphique @evelyn120700 @nightriver99 @iamwarrenspeace @this-that-and-every-thing-else @hsk-puma @bungeewabbit @pianomad @lesbianstarkx @hazilyimagine-blog  @super-darkcloudstudent @thehuntress26 @siren-lamented-vampire @mooleche @rovvboat @leo-writer @dandyqueen @nitemaremotionless @thewintersoldierswife
You plopped yourself down on the couch, letting out a big sigh. You had just finished deep cleaning your apartment. As you wiped the sweat from your brow, you caught a whiff of yourself, you definitely needed a shower before Piotr came over for the first time tonight. You hadn’t been dating the metal man long, so you still wanted to make a good impression.
You propped your feet up on the coffee table, the sun from the window reflecting off the metal in your prosthetics. You stared at them, wondering what Piotr would think when you showed him tonight.
Would he treat you different? Would he be disappointed you haven’t told him sooner? Your thoughts were interrupted by your phone buzzing.
A text from Piotr.
Need me to bring anything tonight? No, just your handsome self, you replied.
Piotr only replied with blushing, smiling emojis. He’s such a dork and you really liked that about him.
‘Right. A shower’ you reminded yourself.
You wandered to the bathroom, admiring how clean your apartment was.
You sat down in your shower chair and released the prosthetics from your legs. ahhh sweet relief. It was like taking off your bra after a long day, but better.
You lathered to your soap and began to wash, you felt the end of the amputation spot. You remembered the incident like it was yesterday. Memories of your time on Xavier’s team flooded your mind. Being a X-man was physically, emotionally, and mentally difficult. The mission when you lost your legs has left you with a particularly sour memory.
But there was no time for sour memories now. … You smoothed out your floor length dress and did some final touch ups before Piotr arrived. You had lit candles, bought wine, and even cooked a fancy meal for you and Piotr to share tonight. However, the one thing you hadn’t done was tell Piotr about your prosthetic legs, but that would change tonight...Hopefully
Ding dong!  The doorbell sang out.
You opened the door to see a very well dressed Colossus holding a bouquet of flowers. Your heart flutters at the gesture.
you greet him with a hug and a kiss and he gladly returns your affections. “Please, come in.” You said, swinging the door open wide.
“Wow y/n, you’ve outdone yourself.” Piotr complimented. He took a deep breath, inhaling the scent of dinner. “This smells amazing!”
“We’ll then let’s eat some!” You replied, all the anxiety leaving your body with Piotr’s presence ..
The two of you had moved the couch after dinner to watch the show you’d been wanting to start together.
your focus was anywhere but the TV. You had put off telling Piotr long enough. Best to rip the Band-Aid off right?
“Piotr? Can we talk?” You questioned, your heart racing and your palms growing sweaty; nervous how he would react.
“Da. Of course.” He replied, pausing the show.
You fiddled with your dress, looking anywhere but Piotr.
After a painfully long moment, he took your hands in his, focusing your attention on only him.
“Piotr, I really like you. And I want to be with you, in an official capacity.”
“Oh y/n I-”
“Wait.” You interrupted. “Before you respond I need to show you something.”
He paused, eager to hear what you had to say.
“Remember how I told you I was on Xavier’s team back in the day?”
He nodded.
“Well, being on the team took a lot more from me than just my sanity.” You explained.
Slowly you reached for your dress, pulling it up to your thighs so Piotr could see.
Piotr’s eyes grew wide with surprise.
After a moment he spoke.
“о Господи, (my god) I am so sorry such things happened to you, y/n.”
Piotr leaned forward and pulled you into a hug. “Thank you for telling me.”
You let out a sigh of relief and wrapped your arms around Piotr, returning his hug.
It felt good to be liked for who you were, all of you.
- END.

“Hey guys let us have a look.” Rich from forensics said as you followed him into Bob Taylor’s back yard.
The two people digging backed off so you three could see.
“Two kids size department store mannequins with the heads caved in.
I just talked to our lab guys they told me all the blood we sampled from the plastic containers? Pigs blood.”
“Shit.” You remarked in disbelief. You had seen some shit but this was on your top 10 list of creepy things for sure.
You followed Rich and Loki inside the home, loki stopping to hold the door open for you. Ah so chivalry still isn’t dead.
You offered him a quiet “thanks.”
You and Loki followed him into the kitchen.
“It’s like he’s play acting. Case in-point: except for the few items ID’d by the Dovers and the Birches..All the kids clothes that we found still have the tags on them them.”
You were right- you were fucking right.
Queue ego boost in 3..2..1.
“And that maze book that we found- he made it. Photocopies. Pictures form this book we found in the attic. Ex FBI agent wrote that.” Rich explained as you and Loki leaned in over his shoulder.
“Finding the invisible man.” Loki read.
You hid your shit- eating grin by putting your hand to your face and resting it there. You were right. You knew it, and now Loki had his precious evidence to back it up. You had been quiet all morning, chalk it up to exhaustion or frustration with Loki -either would be a good excuse.
“OK, so he read the book and decided he was taken by the invisible Man. Now he’s doing his best imitation, right?”
“Yeah, he was doing his best imitation..killed himself last night.”
“How’d he do that? I thought he was in custody?”
Loki sauntered away from the counter at which you and Rich were standing, avoiding the question.
He looked at the scribbles on the kitchen wall.
“That means you were right, (l/n), holy shit. Tell him- tell Rich what you told me last night.”
Oh so now he wants to hear your theory? Where was his enthusiasm last night?
“My theory, now proved right, is he’s taking credit for someone else’s work.” You explained. “That he’s too disorganized for something of this scale. Couldn’t take one kid, let alone two.”
“Well, Dr. (l/n), I’d say the evidence definitely proves you right. The girls are still out there. Just keep knocking on doors and looking in windows.”
Before you could get another word in Loki was speaking again.
“Hey Taylor drew this.” Loki said pulling out the piece of paper. “Its a map to the bodies. It’s a map to the bodies! We found the same design on a pendant we pulled off the corpse the other day. There’s a connection. There’s a connection okay?”
“The connection is that it’s the last maze in the book. I did it, it’s unsolvable. There’s no way out. Your corpse is another wanna be who read the book. “ Rich said dismissively.
You walked away from where the two were standing, running your hand along the kitchen wall. A cold chill ran down your spine, Taylor’s home was disturbing to say the least, and yet you found yourself wishing that he could’ve gotten the psychological help he needed.
“but-but- How did Bob Taylor get those clothes? How did- how did- how did the parents positively ID those clothes?!” Loki questioned, now yelling.
“That I can’t reconcile.” He said, walking into the living area.
You leaned against the wall, crossing your arms. The question still stood- how did the parents identify the clothes? You’d been racking your brain all night to find a answer. You didn’t have one. Yet.
You looked at Loki and you knew that look; you could see the cogs in his brain turning.
He pulled out his notebook. You leaned in beside him to see what he was doing.
He flipped a few pages back.
In the house
window
-Open?
You both looked at each other and had the same revelation.
“The window!” You said in unison.
“The piece of clothing Keller Dover ID’d was a sock. One sock.” Loki said, holding up his index finger. “Maybe- maybe there’s evidence still there!”
“Let’s go” you said, heading for the car, David on your heels.
While en route to the Dover residence, Loki kept stealing glances at you.
You stared out the window, pretending not to notice.
“You can say it.” He blurted out.
“Say what?”
Either she was naïve, or someone who didn’t hold grudges. And Loki knew she wasn’t naïve.
“You can say ‘ I told you so.’ “
“Loki-“ you huffed.
“Look uh- I’m uh, I’m sorry. For last night.” He blurted out.
“I appreciate the apology, Loki.” You said. “I know we’re under a lot of stress and this case hasn’t made a whole lotta sense, But I want you to know that I’m not the type to say ‘I told you so’. It’s not helpful. To anyone.”
Loki stayed silent for a few moments for fear of feelings gushing out of him like a raging river. She was so nice and understanding and empathetic. He wasn’t used to others acting so kindly towards him.
“I really am sorry, (y/n), yesterday I was so caught up in thinking Bob’s suicide was my fault and that I had royally fucked up our only chance to find the girls.. I thought all hope was lost. When you offered me hope, I just couldn’t believe it.”
“Thank you for sharing, Loki. I know it’s not easy to let others in.” You said, satisfied to get a genuine emotional response from the man.
Loki smirked as he thought to himself.
She said that as if she’s not the reason I’m opening up. I’ve known O’Malley, Rich, and Chemelnski for years and ain’t never opened up to them. I don’t know what’s gotten in to me..well I do actually…it’s her.. her presence is..comforting.
“You should know that It was highly likely that Bob Taylor would have spiraled and become suicidal anyways or would have eventually gained confidence to actually kidnap someone.” You explained, hoping to ease Loki’s burden.
Loki glanced at you once again with an unreadable expression.
“Yesterday Keller Dover told me this was all my fault. That I wasted too much time watching him. It’s not Taylor I feel guilty about. It’s the girls.”
“We’ll find them.” You reassured him.
“You think they’re alive?”
You shrugged your shoulders “we can hope.”
The car pulled to a screeching halt in front of the Dover’s house.
Loki bolted out of the car and around to the back of the house. You not far behind.
Loki then jumped over the chain link fence with ease, and you followed, albeit a bit less graceful than the detective. All the days you spent doing nothing but office work were catching up with you.
You and Loki began to search the area, you looked for footprints, clothing fibers, anything that suggested Bob had been there.
There, in the mud, was your confirmation.
Footprints. You counted yourself lucky that they were still there, it had been wet and rainy the past week so the yard was muddy and slick.
Loki knelt down to the ground under the window, his eyes frantically searching the area.
He was a bit of a mess with strands of hair hanging down around his face and his five o clock shadow peeking through. He was so attractive it was almost unreal.
“Look!” Loki said, crouching down to dig in the bush.
Loki held up Anna Dover’s matching sock with a pen.
Your eyes grew wide. “Well, I’ll be damned.” You said, crouching down next to him.
You were perplexed as how Bob pulled this off without being seen.
“Hell, if Keller Dover was out and about doing God knows what and Grace Dover has been hopped-up on sleeping pills this whole time, he may have been able to slip in undetected.” You stated.
“Yeah.” Loki agreed.
“You got an evidence bag?” He asked.
“Fresh out.” You replied. You prided yourself on being prepared. But that didn’t mean you stashed evidence bags in your pockets.
“Got some in the trunk, also a camera to document the footprints.”
“Got it, I’ll grab them.” You said searching for a gate or break in the fence. Apparently the Dover’s didn’t believe in a gate of sorts, so you had no choice but to hop the fence again.
After retrieving the items from the trunk, you handed them to Loki before jumping back over the fence.
You hoisted yourself over the metal chain link, but the slick leaves and mud got the better of you as your feet were swept out from under you.
But just before you hit the ground, a pair of very strong arms caught you.
“I got you.” Loki spoke softly, bringing you back to a standing position.
“Thanks.” You replied, locking eyes with the detective.
Once again you and Loki found yourselves in very close proximity to one another, his hands were not leaving your body and you certainly were not complaining.
Out of pure instinct, you reached up to brush the fallen strands of hair from David’s eyes.
He immediately grew stiff at your touch, shocked at the sudden intimate gesture.
He took a step back, releasing his grasp on you. Though he instantly regretted it after seeing the look of rejection on your face.
He internally cursed himself…first time someone touched him like that in years and he freaked out.
Stupid
“Uh..” he stuttered, “sorry…I- uh..we should get back. Get a definitive match on these footprints.”
You awkwardly cleared your throat.
“No, yeah, we should.” You agreed, the barely noticeable waiver in your voice was like a punch straight to Loki’s gut.
He wanted to explain..It’s not you, it’s me. It’s my trauma, my past. I’m sorry. I want nothing more than to kiss you right now. But I’m scared.
But he stayed silent. And so did (y/n).
.
Back at the station, Loki was in the forensics lab with Rich comparing the footprints.
“Yeah they’re definitely a match.” Rich said confidently. “It’s the exact same shoe Taylor was wearing when night shift processed the scene in the interrogation room.”
“Alright, thanks”. Loki said and turned to leave.
“You should tell her how you feel.”
Loki stopped in his tracks.
“What?”
“(L/N)..you should tell her.”
Loki always prided himself on being able to hide his feelings, to push them down so far they didn’t show, but apparently he wasn’t as good at it as he thought.
“Wha-how did you know-?”
“Loki, I’ve known you for a long time.” Rich said. “It’s the way you look at her.”
“And how am I looking at her?” Loki hissed, putting his hands on his hips.
“Without the same scowl you have with everyone else.”
Okay maybe Rich was onto something. “But..but she’s going home to DC when the case is over. I-“
“Yeah. That’s exactly that’s why you should do something about it now. Washington DC is not that far from here; couple hours drive at most. She obviously cares about you, and besides…It’s about time you had something more than work in your life.”
Loki walked off without saying anything, too busy pondering the wise words Rich had given him.
Maybe he was right. Loki hadn’t felt this way towards anyone in ages. He had two chances to kiss her and fumbled each one. Keller Dovers’ words about wasting time echoed in his mind. With a sudden surge of confidence, Loki decided right then and there that he was done wasting time.

The Implicit Demand For Proof (10)
Pairing: Detective David Loki x Reader
Summary: you, a forensic psychologist, get called in on a high priority child abduction case in Conyers, PA. What happens when you catch feelings for the mysterious detective Loki?
Warnings- movie level violence, guns, language, snakes, blood. (I don’t think I’m forgetting anything but y’all have seen the movie so yeah this fic describes the movie scenes)
Series master list here
A/n- I’ll admit this chapter ain’t my fave I struggled a bit but 🤷‍♀️ *shrug emoji *
-
You pulled up to Bob Taylor’s house seconds after Loki did.
You thought Loki would be rushing up to his door and bursting right in, but instead Loki was acting nonchalant, if Loki could ever be such a thing. He calmly got out of the car and closed the door. His eyes darted directly to you, he had this look on his face like he wanted to say something but held it back. You took the opportunity to talk instead.
“Alright so, we’ve got Bob Taylor, 37, never married, no kids. Lived in Conyers all his life. Got a 5 point match on the facial recognition scan. It’s definitely him.”
“Let’s bring this fucker in.”
The two of you began walking from the end of the driveway to the front door,
“Hey, um, good work.” Loki said, looking over at you. He maintained eye contact with you and for a moment, you felt like those baby blue eyes were looking straight into your soul.
“Oh, thanks. That’s what I’m here for, right?” You smiled at him, and you swore you saw the ends of his mouth curve up into a smile, but he looked away so you weren’t positive.
“Mhmm.” Loki hummed.
“So Dovers apartment?” You inquired, changing the subject.
“Yeah..uh, yeah. You called before he could give me the complete tour.” He said, moseying toward the front door. “But if I was hiding someone, that’s where I’d do it. Place is a wreck. Old and dilapidated.”
You hummed in response.
Once at the door, Loki knocked and you both held your badges up for the man to see once he opened it.
The door opened revealing the man and it didn’t take a forensic psychologist to see that your and Loki’s presence immediately made him nervous.
He let out the most timid ‘Hi.’ you’d ever heard.
“Mornin’. “ Loki greeted him.
While letting Loki do all the talking, you were intensely focused on body language.
Loki was cool and collected, but his stance meant he was ready to pounce at any moment. He was itching to get Bob Taylor, you could see it in his eyes. He wanted to get this guy, needed to. Watching him was like watching a predator waiting to catch its prey.
Taylor on the other hand was timid and skittish. He couldn’t hold eye contact with you nor Loki and only opened the door wide enough to talk to you two.
“Do you have children?” Loki asked, already knowing the answer.
“No.” Bob swallowed nervously. “I don’t have…have anything…” Bob tried slamming the door closed but Loki caught it and had him against the wall and onto the floor in cuffs in one fell swoop.
It turned you on more than you’d like to admit.
You drew your weapon and followed Loki inside, immediately you started searching for the girls. “Anna?! Joy?!”
“You move and I’ll put a bullet through your fuckin’ head.” You heard Loki say from the living room.
What you saw in the home shocked you- and that was saying a lot.
You quickly cleared each room; Searching in every corner, crack and crevice for the two girls.
“Clear!” You hollered out to Loki.
You heard him call for additional search unit and by the looks of this place it was going to need extensive searching. You had never seen anything like this before, there were lines and scribbles drawn on every corner of every wall, it was dark and dingey. It was the home of someone who was disturbingly obsessed.
“Rest of the house is clear.” You said to Loki as both of you came to the last door to be checked. It was locked.
Loki threw his body weight into it, opening it on the second try. He made it look easy.
What you saw made you sick to your stomach. Black storage boxes, definitely big enough to put two small kids in.
“Shit.” You muttered.
“Anna? joy?..fucking..” Loki frantically checked the boxes and they were all locked.
“I got a crowbar in the trunk.” Loki ran out to get it.
Shoving Bob Taylor into the back seat, Loki found that he only had one crow bar, but he did find some bolt cutters for you to use.
You both frantically started busting the locks on the boxes trying to mentally prepare yourself for what you might find inside.
You slipped on a pair of latex gloves before digging through the box. You offered Loki the extra pair of gloves you kept in your jacket pocket. He reused. Fuck protocol though right?
You opened the box to find it filled to the brim with blood stained clothes.
“Ah!” Loki jumped back. “Fuck.”
“What?!” You asked, desperately hoping it wasn’t a body.
The sight made you jump back.
Fucking snakes.
“Shit.”
“You don’t think the snakes could’ve eaten…” you asked trailed off, not able to finish your sentence.
Loki’s stomach churned at the thought.
“No. I mean..” he paused really considering it. “Seems like an inefficient way to get rid of bodies.”
“Yeah.” You agreed.
“But I wouldn’t put anything past this sick fuck.”
“Yeah.” You said, letting out a sigh. “Forensics can test their stomach contents, just to be sure.” A shiver went down Lokis spine as he shook the chilling thought from his head.
Nearly all the boxes had these damn snakes in them - until Loki busted open the last one.
The only thing inside was a book.
It read on the front-
If you finish all the mazes you can go home
Loki flipped through it, revealing several drawings.
“What the fuck is this.” Loki questioned.
“And where the hell are the girls?” You added.
Before you and Loki could ponder the situation any more, the search team pulled up outside
“That’s what I’m gonna find out.” Loki said while tossing the book back in the container. “Now that search is here, I’m taking this piece of shit back for questioning.”
You and Loki quickly left the snake filled room, for that you were thankful. He took a few steps towards the front door, but stopped when he realized you weren’t following him.
“You comin’ ?”
“No..uh..I’m gonna help the search crew. Try and get a good idea of what we’re up against with this guy, you know.. try and get in his head.”
“Ok..yeah.” Loki paused. “I’ll keep you posted.”
“Same here.”
He quickly headed for the door, but not before looking back at you once more, his expression a mix of emotions. You couldn’t get a read on how he was feeling. Loki was a tough one to figure out.
Wonder what that was about. You thought to yourself. weird.
You showed the rescue team around the house, telling them to watch out for the snakes because they were technically evidence.
You had to take a second to mentally prepare yourself to dive into Bob Taylor’s mind but one of the rescue guys spoke up, interrupting your process.
“Dr. (L/n)?”
“Yes?”
“I, uh, I’ve known David a long time and I don’t know what you’re doing, but keep doing it.”
“Sorry, I- I don’t know what you mean?” The confusion on your face amused the man.
He chuckled. “Let me just say that ever since..well a few days ago, David’s been in a better mood than usual.”
“Well if this is his good mood, I’d hate to see his bad mood.” You let out a fake chuckle and you went on your way.
Sorry..what the fuck is happening right now ??? You thought to yourself.
After the weird look Loki gave you and this man randomly sharing that information…your mind was really spinning. As much as you’d love to read into what just happened, you had two little girls to find. (You’d definitely read into it later though.)
You picked up your phone to call, Nancy, one of your techs back home.
The phone only rang a few times before she answered, you loved that about her.

A/n 2- this chapter is long as fuck, do with this information as you will.
Series masterlist here
-
“Bob Taylor, I’m agent (L/N) with the FBI.” You said, sitting down at the table across from him.
“So I hear that you told detective Loki you killed Anna” you slid Anna’s picture in front of him. “And Joy.” You did the same with her picture.
He let out a quiet ‘yes’.
“Okay. I’m going to get you a tissue for your bloody nose and a bandaid and then we’re gonna talk, ok?”
He nodded.
After making a psychological profile of Bob, you decided that going in soft would be best. You could tell it was already working. His body language changed almost instantly at your presence. He was less nervous, but nervous nonetheless. He had definitely been doing something.
.
Loki watched (y/n) interrogate Bob while forensics processed the clothing found at the scene. David was enjoying every minute of it. It was so fascinating to him how easily (y/n) got into Bob’s head.
“See, what you’re telling me is different from what you told my partner.” She said.
Partner…Loki no longer felt an overwhelming feeling of dread at that word; it had grown on him since she had been around.
“Let me tell you something Bob. I’m a forensic psychologist. Do you know what that is?”
He nodded yes
“You do? Good.” You paused. “Then you may know that means I know when you’re telling me lies. And I don’t like lying!” You exclaimed, slamming your fist on the table.
He drew back, shocked that you were no longer friendly.
It gets them every time.
“I-I- I’ll draw a map..to the bodies.”
You swiped your photos off the table then placed some paper and a small pencil in front of the man.
“Get drawing.” You spat.
Oh Loki definitely liked her. That bit of sass coming out right then? Yes please.
“Loki, the families are here.” Officer John informed him as he poked his head into the room.
Loki let out a sigh. Time to see if any of the clothes found belonged to the girls.
.
Loki came to stand next to you as you watched Bob Taylor obsessively draw mazes from behind the one way glass.
“How’d it go with the parents?” You asked him.
He sighed.
“Both sets of parents recognized at least one piece of clothing. Dover blames me for the whole thing. Says I wasted time following him.”
“Shit.” You said as you anxiously ran a hand through your hair. “You know it’s not your fault, right?”
“You get anything?” He inquired, changing the subject.
“No…yes…I dunno…something’s off.” You stated.
“What’s he doing right now?”
“Drawing us a map to the bodies.”
Loki, with brow raised, doubted that.
“It looks like the scribbles on the walls in his house.”
“Good eye, detective.” You complimented.
You didn’t miss the way Loki’s lips curved upward into what was almost a smile.
“What are you thinking?” He inquired.
“I’m not positive. Is the conference room free? I need space to think.”
“Yeah, it is.”
You grabbed your increasingly thick file folder and made your exit.
.
Loki didn’t wanna bother y/n while she was working, but Bob Taylor had been doing nothing but scribbling mazes for the past hour and he was getting bored. He needed an excuse to interrupt her.
Then, an idea struck him.
Coffee.
Not shitty break room coffee. The good shit from the shop down the street.
.
After a quick trip, Loki made his way down the hall to the conference room and leaned up against the door frame.
She had all her papers spread out on the bulletin board and onto the table and some even in the floor. String connected from one picture to another as (y/n) scoured her web of case notes. She was too focused to notice him standing there.
In the few seconds Loki stood there awkwardly with coffee in hand, he began to overthink his decision.
Is it weird that I knew her regular order? Would she get the wrong impression from this? What if she think it’s strange that I went out of my way just for her? Maybe I should just let her be, I should go. Oh too late she saw me. Fuck. No, it’s fine. Just be cool.
She smiled immediately upon seeing him, putting Loki’s troubled mind at ease.
.
Movement at the door caught your eye, you turned around and noticed Loki standing there, immediately motioning for him to come in.
He carefully stepped around all your organized chaos until he was in the center of what looked like a paperwork tornado.
“I hope you know I don’t usually work in such a mess like this.” You sheepishly admitted.
“Even if you did I wouldn’t stop you.” He assured you.
You looked up and noticed he was holding two cups of coffee.
To your surprise, one was for you.
“Figured you could use one.”
You smiled at the gesture, coffee and detective Loki? What more could a girl ask for?
“I can always use one. Thank you.”
You took a long sip and you were immediately taken aback by the the delicious flavor flooding your tastebuds.
This definitely wasn’t break room coffee. This was coffee shop coffee.
Actually, it was exactly what you would order at a coffee shop.
You looked at the order label stuck to the side of the cup.
Yep. That’s your order, down to a T.
Loki had memorized your coffee order.
Loki had memorized your coffee order!
“You memorized my order?” You couldn’t help the sheepish grin that plastered itself onto your face.
Loki, who was was looking very pleased with himself, nodded.
“You only order it a hundred times a day-and that’s since you’ve been here. Can’t imagine what you’re like back home.” A sly grin made its way to his lips.
“Hey!” You exclaimed, playfully whacking him with the papers in your hand.
He let out a chuckle, which was music to your ears.
“Sounds to me like you’ve got a caffeine addiction” he mumbled, taking a sip of his coffee as he nonchalantly sat on the edge of the conference room table
“If anyone around here has a coffee addiction, it’s you mister.” You said, sitting beside him.
“Ain’t no denying that.” Loki confessed.
“Well, here’s to caffeine addictions.” You said raising your cup for a toast.
He raised his cup to yours, the plastic not making much of a sound.
You were suddenly hyper-aware of your proximity to Loki. You glanced over at him- taking in all the small details. The way his cologne intoxicated you, the faded tattoos, the way his hair always fell out of place in the same spot first. Loki turned, locking eyes with you. As much as you didn’t wanna seem like a weirdo for staring at him, you couldn’t pull your gaze away.
David’s eyes searched your face for a sign, a signal or something that told him that you were feeling this too.
Your heart began to race and your palms grew sweaty.
Your eyes flickered between David’s eyes and lips, God you wanted to taste him so badly.
Loki nervously cleared his throat and looked down at the floor, breaking the trance he had put you in.
“So..” you started, trying to hide your disappointment. “I called my people back home and got everything we could find on Taylor, right?”
“Right” he confirmed, his face a mixture of emotions.
“They just got back to me after digging around some more.” You rustled around in the paper pile to find your notes.
“Apparently he was kidnapped when he was young, the captor kept him drugged up. Hospital reports show a mix of LSD and ketamine. Bob escaped, but they never caught the guy.”
You looked up from your notes at Loki to make sure he was listening- And there was that look again, like those blue eyes were staring straight into you.
“So you know how the other day after we went to the mall and I was talking about the suspect probably having extreme trauma the need to control it?”
“Yeah.” Loki replied.
“Taking Anna and Joy…is his attempt to control his trauma. And that experience of being kidnapped fucked him up so much, all he can do is draw mazes for hours on end. That trauma is all he can think about. I think his mind is a fucked up maze and he can’t get out.”
“So..?” Loki trailed off.
“So..I don’t know.” You sighed, feeling defeated. “We could question him together. Good cop, bad cop style?”
“Okay. You’re the bad cop though.”
You scoffed, feigning offense.
“Me? The bad cop?” Your voice going up an octave.
“Yeah.” Loki smirked. “I watched you interrogate Taylor. It suits you.”
“Yeah? You profiling me now detective?”
Loki chuckled. “Yeah..Well, did I do good?”
“Yeah, Loki, you did good.” You said, patting his arm.
Poor, touch starved Loki longed for just a few more moments of your touch. Damn he shouldn’t chickened out of kissing you.
.
“How long has this Bob Taylor been working on this map?” Captain O’Malley came by to check on things.
“Three and a half hours.”
“And you think this is going to lead you to the bodies? cause I sure as shit don’t.”
“Do me a favor Captain and go fuck yourself. We weren’t getting anywhere questioning him.”
Both your moods had shifted dramatically within the last two hours. Feeling the pressure from everyone, you were feeling particularly anxious about this case.
“There was no getting to him, it was like he’s in a trance. He shut down.” You confirmed.
“That looks more like a maze than a map-“
“He’s got a thing for mazes!” Loki spat.
“I’m going home. Call me if something happens.”
You and Loki were at your wits end trying to get this motherfucker to talk.
Loki let out a big sigh.
“Gimme that card John, the key card.”
Loki stormed into the interrogation room
He blinked ‘hard’ a few times and placed his hands on his hips.
“Alright it’s done now. Tell me what you’re drawing. You said you were drawing a map, that looks like a fucking puzzle. You tell me what you’re drawing.”
He blinked ‘hard’.
“Tell me what you’re drawing.”
Loki grabbed him by the shoulders and pulled him back from the table.
“I can’t!” Bob cried out.
“Yes you can!” and before you knew it he slammed his face into the desk.
“Shit!” You exclaimed as your adrenaline shot up, what the hell was Loki doing?!
Yes you can! Yes you can!” Loki yelled at him over and over.
You and officer John and another officer who you didn’t know all barged in the room desperately trying to tear the two apart. The guys had hands on Loki desperately trying to pull him off, while you grabbed onto Bob Taylor and tried to pull him away, but Loki had a death grip on the man.
“Loki what the fuck are you doing?!” You asked, your anger bubbling to the surface.
In a split second, Bob jumped on the opportunity to pull the gun from the officers holster while he was distracted.
“Oh shit! Gun! Gun! Gun!” Loki yelled and drew his weapon.
You instantly went into crisis mode and drew your weapon.
“Bob you don’t have to do this.” You said. He glanced at you and in that split second you saw a broken man. A victim. He was tired.. tired of trying to escape the prison that was his mind. You’d seen that look before. You knew then it was too late, he had made the decision.
“Bob, put it down. Put the gun down. Bob, Bob. Bob, Bob. No. No no no no! No no no!-“
Bang!
You grimaced at the ringing in your ears from the gunshot.
The sight of Bob Taylor’s brains splattered on the wall made you queasy.
“Fuck.” Loki said in disbelief, “go call fucking R.A.” His voice wavering. You didn’t miss the way his lip trembled and his hands shook.
You angrily shoved your gun in its holster and bolted past Loki and the officers towards the bathroom.
Loki wasn’t the only one starting to crack under the pressure of the Dover-Birch case.
The gravity of what had just happened hit you like a ton of bricks. He was dead. And you watched it happen. You started to feel tightness in your chest, you were breathing but couldn’t get any air. Your heart felt like it was going to beat out of your chest. Your head started to spin.
You turned on the sink and splashed cold water on your face.
Deep breaths, deep breaths you reminded yourself.
Once the room stopped spinning, you hoisted yourself on to the bathroom sink, you guessed that was as fine of a place to sit as any.
Your chest filled with anger. This was a mistake that was 100% avoidable. Now how were you going to find the girls? Your only real lead was fucking dead.
.
You planted yourself in the seat beside Loki who was waiting just outside the interrogation room.
“Will you sign my incident report?”
He signed the report and handed it back to you without saying a word.
After a few minutes of silence, Loki spoke up and asked if you were okay. It was a simple question but it filled you with anger. Blame it on frustration, lack of sleep, or unbounded stress piling up from this case. Or hell all three, but you couldn’t hold it in any longer. Professionalism be damned.
“No. No Loki I’m not! Our only lead on this case just blew his fucking brains out!”
He blinked ‘hard’.
“Sorry. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to yell.” As mad as you were, you knew the last thing Loki needed was you yelling at him.
You sighed. “I’m sorry Loki.”
“S’okay. Loki mumbled.
A heavy silence lingered.
After a minute or two, the medical examiners walked by, body bag in tow.
The captain followed them, holding Bob’s “map”.
“He explain this before he ate the bullet?” O’Malley questioned, trying his best to hold back his anger.
“I’m sorry.”
“Fuck your sorry. Save it for the girls parents.”
Loki stared at the paper the captain handed him.
“Does that look familiar to you? “ he asked, holding up the paper.
“No, sorry.” You said with a yawn, the all too familiar tired feeling sinking into your bones.
You stood from the cramped chair, hoping Loki would follow you.
He didn’t.
All he could do was stare at Bobs drawing.
“Goodnight, Loki.” You said, in a hurry to gather your things and leave.
“Night.” He murmured, unable to tear his eyes from the paper.
.
As y/n rounded the corner of the bullpen, Loki could’ve sworn he saw tears in her eyes. He wanted to go to her and apologize and tell her they’d find the girls some other way, but his feet felt like they were cemented to the floor.
What was he supposed to say anyways? Sorry I got our lead suspect killed and screwed up the entire investigation. Don’t think they make a card for that.

Something in the Orange (part 3/3)
Pairing: Cable/ Nathan Summers x reader
Summary: after losing his wife somewhere in time, Cable will stop at nothing to find her.
Part 1
Part 2
Warnings: angst, character illlness
A/n- thanks for reading! Comments and reblogs are appreciated
Cable didn’t sleep for as long as y/n was in the hospital. He never left her side.
The doctor came in while she was still sleeping.
By the look on their face, it wasn’t good news.
Cable didn’t say anything, just let the doctor do all the talking.
“Her prognosis is..not good. The neurons in the brain are not sending messages correctly. The dendrites, which are the part of the neuron that receives electrical impulses, are deteriorating rapidly. I’m afraid she’s only got a few months. I believe long term exposure to a extremely powerful energy source was the cause of her condition. I’m sorry Mr. Summers. I’ll give you a minute.”
What the hell. This was so fucking unfair. He just got her back and now she’s dying? Fuck. Why me? Why didn’t i find her sooner?
(Y/n’s) voice pulled him from his spiraling thoughts.
“Is the doctor gone?” She asked, eyes still closed.
Cable let out a sigh. She was sneaky, Cable would give her that.
“Yeah.”
She opened her eyes and looked straight at Nathan. For once, she couldn’t read his expression.
A heavy silence lingered in the air
Nathan scooted the chair close to her and sat down.
He took her hand in his, bringing it to his lips.
“All those attempts to come home with the temporal dial…it was too much energy for my body to handle I guess.”
She looked up at Nathan with watery eyes
“I don’t wanna die.” She said, her voice wavering.
And with that Nathan’s heart split in two
And I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't
'Cause if I say I miss you I know that you won't
Cable looked at her, really looked at her. His wife, his partner..his everything.
He knew in that moment what he had to do.
“This is all my fault (y/n) I should’ve found you sooner. I’m so damn sorry.”
“Not your fault my love.” This time is was y/n who brought Cable’s hand to her lips. She was only able to give him a weak show of affection.
“(Y/n) I’ve got to fix this….”
“Nathan you can’t fix everyth-“
“I’ll use both our dials and go back in time, back before I ever lost you the first time..and if that doesn’t work I’ll- I’ll find you sooner, I know where you were I can find you.”
“Nathan no, I’ve spent so many damn years without you. I want to be with you during what little time I’ve got left.”
Cable was about to object, but y/n pleaded with him not to go. And well..he had always been putty in her hands. Years apart didn’t change that.
“Okay, darlin.” He said, placing a gentle kiss to her forehead.
“Thanks…I think I’m gonna go back to sleep I’m really tired.”
“You just rest, baby.”
“Okay.” She replied and smiled at him.
Nathan had missed out on that smile a long time.
Later that night when (y/n) was sound asleep Cable quietly snuck her temporal dial from her bag and synced it with his own.
He looked over her sleeping form once more.
“I’m sorry (y/n) I’ve got to do this. I’ve got to at-least try.” He sighed. “We’ll be together again before you know it.”
He placed one last kiss on her forehead before setting the dials.
Nathan pressed the button, leaving (y/n) once more.
He left the present with one thing he hadn’t had in a long time.
Hope.

Steel Heart (2)
Pairing: Colossus/ Piotr Rasputin x HopelessRomantic!Reader
Summary: After Piotr’s heartbreak, he decides to give up on love, but then, he meets you. But of course with a new relationship comes complications and hesitations. Can Pete overcome his pain and insecurities or will his heart remain cold as he pushes you away?
Series masterlist
Authors note: many thanks to you all for hanging in there with me through my writers block, and specifically being patient with this story. Special thanks to @reiner-exodus-rasputin for helping me out with this fic! I’ve made reader a hopeless romantic, I just think it fits. I figured I owed you guys a long chapter after not updating this for *looks at calendar* 3 fucking years. Reblogs/comments help me out a lot. Thanks for reading! Also I know tipping is exclusively an American thing so yeah that just how it be. Also please read at the end about tag list!
Warnings: none
A cool shiver went down your spine after Piotr ..or.. Peter shut the door.
Oh my god he’s so cute, In a scruffy and ragged kind of way. Maybe he’ll order again and your paths will cross once more. You shoved the generous tip money in your bag and went on about your evening, definitely not daydreaming about the muscly, scruffy tall man with big blue eyes.
“I’m in love!” You barged into the cafe ready to spill all the details of your recent encounter to your coworkers.
It was after closing time so you could be as unabashed about your feelings as you wanted.
The kitchen staff collectively let out a sigh. Let’s just say this definitely wasn’t the first time you barged in telling everyone you were in love
“Who is is this time y/n?” Jeannie asked with exasperated tone.
“Oh hush, you love it.” You teased back.
She rolled her eyes at you as she wiped down the counter.
“It was this guy I just delivered to. He was tall and handsome! In a rugged kind of way.”
You grabbed a pile of dishes and put them in the sink. You happily helped close up while filling others in on every detail of your encounter with Peter.
“You’re such a hopeless romantic.” Jeannie teased.
“Yeah, well, what can I say.” You said hanging up your apron.
As you and the other staff departed for the night, you wished them a goodnight and went home. Thankfully you’d be back on day shift soon after picking up a few nights for some extra cash.
It had been weeks since your encounter with...Piotr..or Peter. You had resumed your normal routine, because why wouldn’t you? It’s not like you thought about his pretty blue eyes all the time or that spark when your hands touched.
Unfortunately, it was the end of your 15 minute break, so time to stop daydreaming about him and get back to waiting tables. Not that you were a romantic, (you definitely were but to admit it would result in endless teasing from your work friends) but something just felt different.
You were working your usual morning shift at the cafe today, it was uneventful so far. You were thankful for that though. Working with the public, you never knew what you were getting into.
You walked over to the broad shouldered man sitting in the corner booth.
“Good morning, my name is y/n and I’ll be taking care of you today. What can I get started for you?”
He looked up and a pair of familiar blue eyes looked back at you.
It was Piotr
Your swore you saw a flash of recognition grace his features.
“Good morning.” He said flashing you a polite smile. As he placed his breakfast order, you noticed a few things.
He looked a lot better than when you first saw him, he was clean shaven, didn’t smell like booze and he had gotten a haircut.
“Sure coming right up!” You said overly cheerful at 8:00 in the morning.
Damn, chill y/n it’s too early for all that. You told yourself.
You weren’t sure if you should say anything about when you met Peter before. On one hand that would be super weird, and on the other hand that’d still be really weird, y/n come on.
After giving it some thought, you decided not to. Unless he said something. But it didn’t seem like he was going to.
..
Colossus decided to get back into his old hobbies again, hoping it would bring him out of his funk. The cafe sat at the entrance to a city park so he had brought his sketch pad with him, hoping to get some quick doodles in. Plus maybe he would see that pretty lady, (y/n). He decided to start off easy by drawing the flowers that were blooming in the planter that hung on the railing of the cafe’s patio.
“Okay here you are, Peter, Anything else?”
Shit! Fuck. just called his name. Maybe he didn’t notice.
He looked up from the paper he was scribbling on.
“This will be all, y/n thank you.”
Oh, shit. He called you by name, with emphasis on the name. He definitely remembered.
“Great.”
You turned and headed to the kitchen cursing yourself.
You looked over your shoulder at the dark haired man once more.
He was concentrated on his drawing.
‘Don’t fuck this up y/n.’ you thought to yourself.
You barged into the kitchen, hoping Jeannie was there.
Your eyes darted around the room until you found her- that gorgeous red hair always caught your eye.
“Jeannie, wait!” You ran over to her.
“I’m busy, (y/n).” She explained as he held a plate of food in each hand.
“I know…but..He’s here!”
“Who?”
“Peter!”
“Peter?”
“You know..Peter.”
Her brown knitted in confusion.
“The one she is in love with! Most recent!” One of the line cooks shouted out.
“Thank you Jeremy!” You exclaimed. At least someone listened to you.
“Oh yeah. Well, good. Maybe you can actually talk to him.”
“No. You don’t understand! I called him by name.”
She laughed. “(Y/n) you are overthinking this, just chill.” She said and walked out the kitchen doors to the dining room.
Just chill. Just chill. You thought to yourself.
Thankfully you were pretty chill throughout the rest of your time with Peter. Chill meaning being able to serve him without combusting.
When you went back to get the ticket from his table, he had already left, but he gave you a good tip and doodled a little drawing on the receipt. It was a flower; a tulip to be exact.
You decided to keep it for yourself. The cafe won’t miss one receipt.

-
Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters
1407 Graymalkin Lane, Westchester County, New York.
You walked up the stone path to what was once a blossoming school. Students ran amok while the teachers kept a watchful eye on the young mutants.
But time had taken it’s toll on the place and the man who ran it. Last you heard, Charles Xavier was a bit of a lost cause these days. You went to knock on the door but before your fist could make contact with the wooden door, it opened, revealing a sickly looking Charles. It saddened you to see an old friend in such a state.
Loneliness and guilt plagued him.
The guilt of past actions haunted you both, it seemed.
“Hello y/n” he said. “I heard your thoughts as soon as you stepped out from the car. Please come in”.
“I thought your powers didn’t work with Hank’s cure’?” You inquired, stepping into the mansion.
“Ah, can’t seem to turn the mind completely off.” He stated, tapping his temple with his index finger.
Ever since Charles had erased Moira Mactaggert’s memories he has become a recluse. He didn’t care, he was depressed and angry. His true love didn’t even know his name. He had shut down the school, opting to be alone with the exception of a visit from old friends every now and then.
“I suppose you didn’t come here to reminisce on old times.” He stated rather than questioned.
Ah yes old times.
You worked with Moria to help keep Xavier’s mansion off the CIA and SHIELD’s radar. You and she had prevented many a sticky situation on the professors behalf.
And now you needed him to repay that favor.
“No, I didn’t come for reminiscing. Um.. I have a..problem with someone with a strong healing factor. I need them dead. Not gone, not injured, but dead. I’ve got cash.”
The professor scoffed. “Money..” he mumbled. “Who needs it.”
“Do you?“ you questioned.
“No, my dear. Money is no fun unless you’ve got someone to spend it on. Come on now.”
He said, motioning you to follow him downstairs.
“You’re not trying to kill Wolverine are you?” He joked.
“No, his brother Sabertooth, actually.” You said, deadpan.
The professor seemed a bit shocked at your confession.
“Always getting ourselves into sticky situations, aren’t we?”
“Yes.” You replied. “I wish Moria was here to help get me out of this one.”
Charles remained quiet as the two of you approached the weapons vault. Maybe you shouldn’t have brought her up.
The vault opened revealing weapons of all kinds.
Hoping he’d give you the biggest one, you were disappointed when the professor put a small dagger in your hands.
You looked at him with disbelief, he didn’t have to read your mind to tell that wasn’t what you were expecting.
“This blade is made from carbonadium.”
Your face scrunched into confusion.
“It is a radioactive metal that is vastly stronger than steel, but more malleable than adamantium. It can slow a healing factor to a stop.”
It was then and only then that you realized the challenge that laid out in front of you.
Victor was a brute. He was tough and mean. Animalistic would be a more fitting adjective. He was also impulsive and reckless when his judgement was clouded by revenge and anger. Meanwhile you were calculating, cautious, and able to keep your cool.
“Thank you, Charles.”
“Not a problem.” He said, closing the vault and walking you back upstairs.
“It’s a shame you have to live such a lie after what SHIELD did to you.”
“It’s not a complete lie..” you explained. “I’ve found something so pure and..right despite it all.”
The professor quirked a brow.
You couldn’t help but smile at the thought of Piotr.
“Yeah, I um-“
“Want to talk about it over tea?” Charles questioned.
“I would Charles, but that pure and good thing I found..doesn’t know I’m here and I’d like to keep it that way.”
“I understand, off you go then.” He said, walking you out the front door.
“Thanks again, Charles.”
He gave you a small wave and closed the door.
You looked at the dagger in your hand and took a deep breath.
Oh what had you gotten yourself into?
.
\ weeks later /
You let out a long sigh, it had been a long day of selling books, talking about books, talking about books about art history, hanging a few replica paintings in the bookshop, helping some students with projects. Just book stuff..No crime, no lies, no Victor.
You left the inventory and cash counting for tomorrow, Piotr was picking you up for dinner and you couldn’t wait. He had been working overtime for the past two weeks and you missed him dearly.
You stepped outside the door, enjoying the light breeze that swept through. Maybe you could convince Piotr could go for a walk after dinner. The warmer months made it great for post- dinner sunset watching.
You turned to lock the door. While doing so you heard heavy footsteps from someone walking up behind you, a cool shiver made its way down your spine.
“Did you miss me?”

Dun dun dun..a cliff hanger! Is it Piotr? Is it the professor? Is it Victor? Is it an old colleague from SHIELD? find out next week when chapter 15 is published. Love you all!
Note about tags- I had a note in my phone for everyones tags separated by the character/ series they wanted tagged for..but while trying to put this post in my tumblr drafts (after having too much wine) I’ve messed it up so if I’ve tagged you for the wrong character/series/ fandom let me know otherwise I’ll just keep tagging everyone lol. I’ve got my det loki tags sorted. I’ve also got @brujademente only being tagged for the steel heart series.
