the dinner party
A/N: Filling out this request. Enjoy!
Pairing: David Loki x F!reader
Summary: David and his girl spice things up at her boss's annual dinner party.
Warnings: SMUT. 18+ ONLY. Language, unprotected p in v sex (wrap your willy, kids), oral play, cumplay, not proofread
Tumblr media
Parties in general were David’s least favorite things. He rarely gets time off and the last thing he wants to do is spend it sharing you with people he doesn’t know.
Sure, they were your co-workers and superiors and he trusted you more than anyone in the world. But you looked way too sexy to be at this stupid dinner party.
He wanted to have you to himself tonight. He didn’t want to socialize; his social meter was already natural low and he’d been there for almost half an hour now, enduring the small talk with the strangers you introduced him to and all their invasive questions about the job he mostly just didn’t want to think about.
You noticed his discomfort when he excused himself to get more wine after one of the most obnoxious guys of your workplace asked him what the most disturbing thing he’d seen on the job was.
It was disturbing for a reason and he wished he could forget it.
“Uhm, that’s rather a hard question to answer. Guess I’ve just seen too much” David answered curtly. “Excuse me, I ran out of fuel” he confirmed raising his glasses.
You co-workers laughed it off with his little joke, but you knew he wasn’t trying be funny, so you followed him into your boss’s kitchen.
“Sorry about that. I didn’t-“
“Not your fault, babe. People are just assholes sometimes.”
“Just 30 more minutes? I don’t wanna be here anymore than you do, but I have to. You know how my boss is. He takes it personal if we don’t show up. I don’t wanna be iced out at work.”
“What if I planted drugs in his house?” he smirked picking at the charcutarie board on the kitchen island to pop some salami into his mouth. “Ooh, that’s good salami. I think that’s salami, at least.”
“Please tell me you’re joking.”
“Of course, I am. But he is a douche. I’d be doing you a favor.”
“I couldn’t agree more, but this job pays for all the sexy lingerie I wear for you.” You smirked filling up both your glasses. “And the hours are really flexible too.”
“Almost as flexible as you” he smirked back idling around the kitchen. “I’ll be on my best behavior, I promise. I know it’s important. It’s just fucking boring as shit. If I have to hear your boss talk about his Italian inspiration for the house, my head might actually explode. I can literally feel the vein in my temple throb every time he says ‘venetian’.”
You chortled with a sip of your wine.
“I know he’s a lot to handle, but it’s just for 30 minutes. And I already introduced you to everyone, so we can just hang out with my friends out back until then. They’re pretty normal, like us.”
“I can’t believe it’s only been half an hour. It feels like it’s been at least 3 hours.”
“What can I do to make it easier hm?” you smiled rubbing your palm against his chest.
“Well…” he smirked lowering his gaze to scan your body. He loved how your black dress hugged your curves just perfectly. “There is one thing that would make me really happy. You know I have a sweet tooth, right?”
You narrowed your eyes with a mirroring smirk.
“You want dessert already?”
“It’s the best part of the course, if you ask me.”
“Fine. But we gotta keep it quiet” you nodded with a mischievous smile.
"Wait. Are you serious?" he asked in disbelief. He didn't think you'd actually agree.
"Yeah, I am. This party is a total dud. I wouldn't be here unless I had to. Might as well make it fun," you smiled nonchalantly, dipping your fingertip into your wine and dabbed the red liquid on his white shirt.
“Hey! What’d you do that for?”
“You’re a cop, David. Rule number one: always have an alibi. And I’m not gonna ruin my dress. It was more expensive than your shirt.”
“Ey, I paid 10 dollars for this shirt at the good-will.”
“My point exactly,” you smirked taking his hand to lead him out of the kitchen and back into the crowd. “You’re such a klutz, Davy. Let’s try to get you cleaned up.”
“Yeah,” he smirked with suspicious eyes squinted at you.
Fighting back the excited smile was hard to do as you led him to the upstairs level. Running off to a secret place to do secret things had you both feeling like young teenagers in love again.
If there was one thing David loved more than you and his job, it was going down on you. And, if that wasn't enough already, it was one of the many things that he excelled at.
"C'mere, beautiful" he smirked turning you around once you'd locked the door.
His hands snaked around your hips as lips collided with you in a feverish kiss, hitching up your dress. Your lower back met with the marble countertop of the sink in the lavish bathroom.
David opened his eyes to look at the reflection of your ass, beautifully on display in your black lace panties.
"You look so pretty, baby" he groaned at the twitching of his hidden cock.
Your cheeks bloomed with warmth as praises spewed from his mouth.
Once his knees met the floor, he wasted no time getting to work. David loved seeing you in black lace. He loved your pussy even more.
His moans were muffled as he buried his mouth over your clothed cunt, nose rubbing and circling your sensitive nub as he inhaled your delicious scent.
"Got this pretty pussy all dressed up for me too huh?" he asked with a devilish gleam in his eyes.
His hot breath and warm tongue nuzzling your cunt had your panties growing wetter and wetter with a combination of his saliva and your slick.
You moaned as your hand reached for his head, legs welcoming his mouth as you sat back on the edge of the countertop.
With a hand wrapped around your thigh, he hooked a finger under the lacy fabric and pulled it to the side in order to display your juicy cunt to him.
"Ain't nothing tastier than this right here."
His open mouth quickly latched onto your exposed pussy. His tongue eager as it licked up the sopping mess that only flooded from your spongy walls.
His thumb circled over your delicate clit as his tongue stroked over your plushy folds up and down, over and over again, sending electricity throughout your body and curling your toes.
The sticky sounds of your incredibly wet cunt and his mouth along with David's expertly technique altering from your pussy, down to your puckering asshole, had your head hanging back. Heat burned in your cheeks as you wondered if anyone could hear you from the outside.
David's eyes were locked on your contorting reaction, coming undone with your mouth hung open in an ecstasy only he could provide. So desperate for your release, you ground your hips against his face, caressing his head of luscious hair as you chased your high.
Your spined arched forward as you relished every greedy movement of his flickering tongue, panting when his thumb slowly sped up its circling over your tender clit.
David's low chuckle at your frantic chase for climax sent chills over your hot skin.
"D-Dave, I-I'm gonna-" you gasped, trying your best to stay as quiet as you possibly could.
"Cum for me," he ordered adding more pressure and speed to his teasing thumb.
The blinding white light of sheer pleasure rippled through your body, letting it tremble under his unyielding mouth. Despite your attempt to shut your thighs, he chuckled darkly as he forced them apart, pushing you further back and folding you over on the countertop until your knees met your chest and your back met the cold surface of the mirror behind you.
“Look at this pretty pussy, all soaked just for me.”
With a teeth baring grin, his long fingers glided easily between your slick folds, toying with the sensitive mound of flesh.
“Came so good for me, didn’t you? Gonna let me taste it?”
You nodded eagerly at him unable to speak with heavy breaths, trying to ease yourself from your newfound high.
“Be a good girl and spread your pussy for me then" he ordered politely quickly bringing your hands under your thighs to pull your pussy apart to hold it open yourself in the raunchiest way.
“Atta girl” he grinned maliciously.
His tongue shoved into your soaked hole, delving deeper and deeper into your open cunt. David was addicted to your pussy, to your taste. He loved how wet you could get, how much of a mess you could make just for him to see.
You watched as he fucked you with his tongue, lapping at your pulsing walls as he impatiently licked for every single drop.
"Baby, fuck me. Please. I need your cock in me so fucking bad right now" you begged, reminded by his tongue of his dick.
He didn't hesitate for a single moment before unbuckling his black pants to let his throbbing dick bounce freely from its confines. He spat into his hand and wrapped it around his cock to give it a few tugs, eyes hungrily staring your gaping pussy.
"Jesus fucking Christ" he groaned as the saliva and his pre-cum mixed and coated his heavy cock.
Aligning his heavy tip´to your welcoming pussy, he slid it up and down your swollen slippery lips to gather your slick. You hissed as he tapped it over your sensitive clit, making your hips as they chased his cock eager to fill up your pussy with his sizeable dick.
He would've teased you far more if he hadn't remembered where you were, so instead, his tip slipped past your folds and into your warm wet cunt.
He pushed in and pulled out slowly at first to wet his dick enough until he could glide in and out of you with ease. You both watched completely hypnotized by your pussy lips wrapped around his heavy member with a shiny glazed hug.
"Keep this pussy open for me, baby girl. Take it all in. I know you can take it."
You felt so wonderfully full and stretched with his thick, long cock slowly moving inside you. Every ridge and vein of it massaged your walls in the perfect way, eliciting even more wetness from your body.
"Ah, fuck" he growled lowly unable to tease.
He needed to cum so badly. His dick was already throbbing and aching for release. Not to mention that eventually someone would knock on the door or come looking for you.
His belt buckle jingled as his hips began to piston against yours. His large hands moved to your chest, pulling your bra and dress to watch your breasts bounce freely with his every thrust.
"Ain't gonna last long like this, baby" he panted softly as he mumbles against the smooth calf of your leg.
He pounded balls deep into you quickly, watching your slick lips squelch around his cock as the sounds of wet slapping skin echoed softly in the bathroom.
It was just too much for him. Your perfectly drenched pussy hugging his cock beautifully, his balls smacking around your ass cheeks, your breasts jiggling to his rhythm.
It all overwhelmed him, bringing him to finally cum heavily into your womb.
Your walls squeezed around his cock, milking him of every single drop until he had to force him to pull out from the oversensitivity of it.
A couple of strands of his pearly white cum squirted over your lips as he gave his final couple strokes to his sensitive tip, aimed at your gaping pussy hole to fill it to the brim.
He smirked proudly as he admired his white load inside your cunt, overflowing like a waterfall from your used pussy and down to your pulsing asshole.
"You're gonna keep this pussy just like this, alright?" he smiled darkly as he gently moved your lacy black panties to cover your cunt and soak in all your - and his - juices.
"No cleaning up. I want to feel it when you walk around out there."

BESTIE BEGGING ON MY KNEES we need more david loki x reader out here 😭😭 maybe some angst/comfort?? ILY
Tumblr media
jealousy
i got two pretty similar requests so i kinda combined these into one! anywho i fucking LIVE for angst, so i had fun writing this! it’s not as angsty as some of the stuff i’ve written, but i hope this lives up to yalls expectations 🙏
pairing: detective david loki x reader
warnings: cussing, arguing, jealousy, drinking, david gets slapped. implied female reader, though it can be read as gn! i think that’s it 😁
summary: david is jealous of a new hire that’s been flirting with you at the precinct.
words: 1,313
Tumblr media
“i’m just saying i don’t like you being all buddy buddy with him.” david’s words shot anger through your veins. he was talking about one of the new hires that you were tasked with showing around the precinct. you were only the receptionist, meaning you had the most spare time to show someone the ropes. you could tell the guy liked you, making a few jokes and letting his eyes linger on you a little longer than they should. this didn’t bother you a bit. you were so smitten with david that no other person would be able to tinge it in even the slightest, so you let it slide and continued on showing him around. in hindsight, you knew this argument was going to happen. you noticed the way david’s jaw clenched as you spoke to the other man, eyes boring holes into the back of his head from his desk, surely imagining a hundred ways to kill him.
“david. i was asked by o’malley to show him the ropes. what am i supposed to do? say no and lose my job?” david shakes his head at your words, sighing heavily.
“no. but you two seemed awful friendly.” his eyes snap over to yours from his place at the counter, a glass of whiskey in his hands.
“there’s nothing behind that. i treat him just like any other coworker. you need to get over this jealousy thing, D. don’t you trust me?” you shoot him a glare, annoyed that he was so untrusting of you. you watch as he downs the rest of his whiskey, slamming the glass down a little harder than he should have. he shakes his head in annoyance.
“he was flirting with you.”
“so what? i love you and only you. i’m not going to let some new hire’s shitty flirting change that.”
“you do this on purpose to mess with me, don’t you?” he scoffs, the slightest slur to his words. this is when you realized he was more drunk than you thought.
“jesus. you’re drunk. i’m not doing this with you while you’re fucking drunk.” you turn on your heel, walking from the kitchen. you were hurt. you knew he was the jealous type, but not like this. you hadn’t done more than show the new hire around and share maybe two laughs, but that was enough to send him over the edge. just as you stepped out of the living room and your feet make contact with the soft carpet from your living room, he spoke again.
“do you not love me anymore? that it?” this for you, was your breaking point. you weren’t thinking anymore as you turned and stormed back into the kitchen, getting face to face with loki who stood from his seat as you came over.
“how dare you?” your voice had a shake to it as you point a finger into his chest. “i would take a fucking bullet for you. god, your insecurities are taking over this relationship david! why cant you trust me like i trust you? half the women in the precinct drool over you every day. but see, i TRUST you. why not talk to me instead of drowning your feelings in fucking liquor first?” by the time you finished speaking you realized tears were coming down your cheeks in thick streams. you could tell what you had said got to david deep down, but you also knew how he was after a few drinks. stubborn as all hell. a few beats of silence pass before his brows furrow, eyes hardening ever so slightly, only something you could notice. you grit your teeth, knowing some bullshit was about to leave his lips.
“you gonna leave me over this now so you can go be with that new hire? what’s his fuckin’ name, john? jake? j-” you cut david’s sentence short with a harsh slap to the face. you knew it was wrong, but you were so hot with anger that any rational thought had been thrown out the window. his head snapped to the side, and for a while he stayed that way, pressing his lips into a flat line as he processed what had just happened, surely getting more sober by the minute. you weren’t the type of person to resort to hitting in situations like this, and your actions shocked the both of you. finally, he turned his head back to look at you, eyes widened ever so slightly. your bottom lip quivered, a threat of more tears to come, and you turned to walk towards your front door before he could say much more. you slipped your shoes on, not taking the time to put on a coat even though snow fell lightly from the dark sky. you didn’t know where you were going, but your feet had carried you through winding sidewalks through the little neighborhoods of conyers for at least a few hours. when you were sure you’d get sick from the cold and lack of a coat, you hesitantly came back home.
you pushed your front door open, and david was sitting on the couch, tv off. his head snapped to you instantly, his eyebrows knotted in worry. clearly he’s had time to sober up and reflect. you hardly make eye contact with him, deciding to head to the shower, hoping it would wash all your feelings away. you ignore as he calls your name out, soon drowning any other sound out with the sound of running water from the shower head. you stepped in so hastily you nearly forgot to pull your socks off. for a while you stood under the stream of hot water with your eyes closed, simply daydreaming. you were only snapped out of it by the sound of the bathroom door opening.
“david. just leave me alone.” you sigh. after a few moments of silence, you speak again.
“helloo? are you trying to be mysterious or something?” suddenly, david pulled the shower curtain back, not hesitating to step into the shower with you. he was still fully clothed.
“hey!!!” you shout, staring at him wide eyed, though a smile was tugging at your lips at the insanity of it all. “D, you’re still in your clothes!” he only looked at you, a solemn expression on his face.
“i’m sorry.” as he spoke, water from the shower dripped down his face, strands of hair falling out of their usual perfect place. you sigh, running a hand down your face and looking back up at him.
“i just don’t want to lose you. i’m scared.” you could hardly here these words from him as he spoke them so quietly, you nearly had to resort to reading his lips.
“i know. i know. i just wish we could talk about these things before you drink.” your eyes scan his face which remained knotted with worry. you noticed a red mark still remained where you had hit him. you look away for a few beats of silence. “i’m sorry for hitting you. i should have never done that.”
“i deserved it.”
a snort escapes you as you look back at him. “maybe just a little. but it was wrong. so i’m sorry.”
a small smile twitches at the corner of his lips. “i forgive you.” his touch was gentle as he pulled you into his embrace. you wrap your arms around his clothed frame, resting your head against his shoulder and sighing deeply, this time with relief.
“did you really have to get in the shower with your clothes though?”
“i thought it would be good for dramatic effect.” you pull away, looking at david who was smiling much wider at his seemingly great idea to get into the shower fully clothed. you shake your head, pressing your lips against his for a few moments.
“you’re an idiot, loki.”

Afraid Of The Dark 🌙
Tumblr media
Pairing : Detective David Loki x fem!reader
Summary : You were always afraid of the dark - as long as you can remember - and just when you thought you were beginning to overcome your greatest fear , it came back and everything was destroyed .
Tw : mentions and detailed descriptions of insomnia , discussions of heavy topics ( based on the original plot of the movie ) , anxiety and panic attacks , angst , the reader and David they fall in love with each other , extreme fluff towards the end .
Lately I've been experiencing heavy episodes of insomnia ( maybe for the past couple of weeks ) and I haven't been able to sleep or even rest properly . I really do not know what to do . I've started to eat more healthy and as much as I really want to take sleeping pills I am afrais that it is not going to be good for my body as I've already taken enough this month . If any of you know anything that can help , I would appreciate it if you would write me a message . Sleeping is one of the things that I enjoy the most and not being able to do it - it really drives me crazy .
Remember , English is not my first language so if you spot any mistakes just bare with me .
Ps : Writing this really helped me get some things that are disturbing me these past few weeks . I enjoyed working on this but at the same time it made me feel really bad at how I cope with some of my problems .
11k words : ?
______________________________________________________________
As long as you can remember - from a really young age - since you were a little girl - you were really afraid of the dark .
But you were not just afraid of the dark . . .
You hated the dark . . .
Actually you despise the dark with every living passion .
You can not actually remember when it first started . Maybe when you started hearing kids in the early years of primary school saying that from 03:00 until 04:00 a.m. was the Devil's hour , or that there ghosts and monsters everywhere in your room while your asleep , or when a teacher of yours told you that insects are inside your mattress.
There were times that your parents were actually very conserved and tried to explain to you that nothing is going to happen to you while you are sleeping .
But you always remember your father saying : " Pray for the best . Prepare for the worst " .
So you could not think otherwise - that something might happen to you or your family in the most unexpected time .
After the birth of your younger brother and sister , thinks got worse .
You would practically stay up all night making sure that everything was safe .
After one time were you fainted from exhaustion , your parents tried to help you with a psychiatrist .
Your father drove you there once every week - seemingly helpful .
It was not .
The pills that the doctor prescribed to you made your stomach turn upside down , your head dizzy with headaches , eyes crying .
Everything seemed to be getting worse .
But only your younger sister Anna had noticed .
Oh Anna . . . you were thinking now as your Honda Prelude was picking up speed by the minute driving you back home .
Conyers was always moody , while Philadelphia were you had moved 4 years ago for University had a lot more of sunny days - it maybe was the reason why your insomnia was getting step by step a little better .
That did not last for long . . .
149 km/h and your car was practically screaming for you to stop .
Just a couple of hours ago you received a call from Conyers Police Department begging you to come back as your little sister Anna and her best friend Joy were missing .
Your only reasons for existence was missing . . .
And you would search every single corner of the world to find her .
_____
When you finally got home it was nearly midnight and while everyone was enjoying their Thanksgiving night , you were holding your younger brother trying to protect him form your mothers cries .
Your father told you to leave the house and go to the car .
You wanted so badly to scream at him .
Ho could he suggest something like that while his youngest daughter was missing ?
Trying to control your anger you started to cry , your brother dragging you out of the house inside your car to both calm down .
_____
The morning you both came back at the house .
Thank God your mother was sleeping in the living room , your brother was in the kitchen and you were discussing with your father in the upstairs bathroom .
You rather seemed calm to the whole situation but your father could see in your eyes that you were thinking of the worst possibilities .
_____
Detective David Loki was something else .
You came into the room while he was typing away on his phone , not directly answering your mothers questions .
'' So, did we pass?"
" I'm sorry, what did you say?"
" The poly thing. The lie detector we took this morning. Did we pass?"
"Oh, yeah, yeah. Sorry. Yes, we appreciate your cooperat- "
Loki was interpreted by your form sitting cross leged in the entrance of the living room .
" How are you ? " He asked you , but your father did it for you .
" She is are oldest daughter Y/N . She came here yesterday . " He said and Loki without missing a second asked you to come by the station to fill your report .
That's how you found yourself sitting in an interrogation room with him asking you questions while observing you .
" Can I go home now ? " You asked him after a minute of total silence .
" Do you have trouble falling asleep ? " He asked with the most serious tone . Dark and deap voice only for you to hear .
Your lack of answer made him understand that that maybe you hade trouble falling asleep because of your sister's disappearance , but something told him it is not only that .
What he did not understand is why he felt the need to protect you and help with any way he can .
_____
After the events that happened when police let Alex go you began to leave the house .
Either helping police with their investigation , or spending time helping your brother mentally , which triggered your mental health too .
Your mother started taking pills and ended up falling asleep all day long .
But what made your anxiety worse was when you had a full blown out panic attack in front of the Detective .
You were with your brother in the police station after ending todays search in the woods with the team .
And then you heard it -
" Look, kid, we can't always save the day. All right? We're just cops, janitors . So you lost this one, all right? " You heard the captain say to Loki , but the only think that you could think right now was that the case was not going very well .
-So you lost this one, all right?
What does that mean ? That the case is closed ? That he is not going to find your sister ? That she is alone ? Maybe dead ? Dead ? Anna . . .
Your head was practically thinking about the worst things right now .
And when your eyes started crying on their own , your head became dizzy , your throat cloased , you finally realised that you could not breathe .
Your brother started crying watching you in this state - crying uncontrollably and violently shacking trying to breath .
A couple of officers noticed and came closer to help both of you but the Loki stormed out and when he smashed everything in his desk the while office went silent .
" Please do not let it go " . Hearing your crying voice he asked one officer to brig you water immediately while he came towards you .
" Hey hey hey you listen to me , alright?" He said while he cupped your face with his palms .
" I need you to calm down love just breath for me okay?" He asked you one more time before turning his head around to glance at the officers thaat were standing there just watching the scene unfold .
_____
That day Joy was found , but while she was slowly recovering from whatever they experienced , your father disappeared .
Thank God Loki had found new evidence and he was able to put some pieces together and finally after a whole week he found Anna .
_____
The next morning
You gently knocked on his open door making him turn his gaze from the newspaper to you -
" Y/N ? " He asked you silently thinking of why you were with him and not with your sister .
" Do not worry . I was with her the entire night , but she wanted to be left alone with our mom for a while . She is thankful you know ? We all are . " You said to him .
He could see you were tired , dark and heavy bags under your eyes from not sleeping , puffy and red eyelids from constantly crying .
Shit . He thought . He should have tried to help from the moment he first saw you .
" Uh, Detective Loki? I hope we're not intruding." Your mother and your sister appeared - you knowing fully well what was going on .
"No." He said and looked at you asking what is happening .
You just smiled and right then and there he realized that he had fallen for you .
You just wached the scene unfold feeling happy until your mother told Nancy leave them alone for a moment .
After she sterted to talk about your father your smiled droped . Every little drop of happiness vanishen from your body knowing what your father had done . Hating that your mother had somehow defended him - while you did to in the bottom of your heart .
You realised that you too were crying when you sniffled your nose .
David looked at you worried .
It did not go unnoticed by your mother .
Hell she was worried about you , he has almost a decade older than you - but then she remembered about her and your father .
She wiped her eyes , smiled both at you , passing you the message that although this whole thing happened - two broken souls found love .
And with that she left .
_____
The early evening that David found your father , that night when you were overcome with anxiety and passion at the same time , David was there with his look, his touch cooling you down but at the same time burning you with his love . That night you both realised that you had fallen for each other - you loved each other .
The night were you both fell asleep together .
The night were he helped you to stop being afraid of the dark .

🙂 Hiiiiiiii
I want to request something detective Loki maybe having a secret relationship with his partner. I was thinking that she was the bubbly type and Loki is the more silent type so opposites attract maybe? He doesn't want to invest his heart into this relationship in fear of getting hurt but maybe a song comes on the radio that makes him think of her and he realizes he's actually in love.
ANON THIS IS SO CUTE. THIS REQUEST IS SO CUTE OK. I hope this is kinda what you had in mind!! Apologies for any spelling/grammar mistakes. Enjoy <3
warnings: fluff !! angst, some light arguing, cheesy love song, self doubt, L-bombs hehe

Loki wasn’t good with love. As a matter of fact, he wasn’t good with feelings, in general.
When the captain first assigned you to him as his partner, he tried to be as closed off as he could, but you were so sweet and welcoming.
Other officers around the station always teased that you and Loki were the ultimate “good cop, bad cop”. Because you were so sweet and he was so harsh.
“Loki needs someone nice in his life.” The captain told you when you asked why he paired you with the most stuck up detective.
God, David tried his hardest to talk to you as little as possible. But he found himself looking for excuses to ask you questions that would keep you talking.
He could listen to your sweet, chipper voice for hours. David would never admit it, but your voice really did something to him. It was almost hypnotizing. The first time he heard your voice, his heart fluttered.
There was no reason for you two to keep your relationship a secret, but David insisted.
“It wouldn’t be professional.” He’d tell you.
He never stayed the night. He never stayed for more than five hours. He didn’t want to get attached. He didn’t want to fall in love with you. He didn’t want to get hurt.
He wasn’t doing that again. His last heartbreak caused enough hurt for a lifetime.
You tried to be as understanding as you could with David Loki. He was a damn complicated man, but he had his reasons.
It was a good day. David came over to spend time with you and he let you make him coffee and cookies. It was you that did most of the talking a lot of the time, but you were fine with that. David was a good listener and he always had good responses when he did reply. You both had a good flow and you balanced each other out. The only light and happiness David had in his life was you.
You were eating some pasta that the two of you made together at your place when you brought up the situation.
“You should stay the night.” You reached out to push some hair behind his ear.
He smiled small and blinked hard.
“Mm. I dont know.” He told you, continuing to eat his food. “Gotta be up early tomorrow.”
“I can do early.” You protested. “I don’t mind, honey.”
“Well-“ He tried to come up with a different excuse, “What if someone sees us?”
You took a deep breath and tried to keep your cool. It bothered you that David was so against someone seeing the two of you together. Who gave a damn about professionalism? It was no one’s business what you both did in your private life.
“It would be fine if someone saw us. Plus, we’d just be the talk of the town for a few days.” You told him, smirking playfully.
He kept a straight face.
“I don’t know.” Was all he said.
And then there was a thick silence. An uncomfortable silence.
You couldn’t hold your tongue anymore.
“What’s your issue with us being seen together? We’ve been together for months now.” You said suddenly, making burning eye contact with him.
His eyes darted as he avoided yours.
“Been together?” He chuckled, scrunching his eyebrows.
You blinked, confused.
“Yeah, David. Been together. Or whatever the hell this is.” You motioned a hand between the two of you.
You didn’t want to raise your voice or lose your cool with him. You knew things had to be treated lightly with David, but to be honest, he was pissing you off.
You knew this wasn’t just sex. Sometimes, David came over and you guys didn’t even have sex. You just talked. Or watched a movie. Sometimes, he’d massage you or he’ll come over to talk about something to you. It’s rare that he talks to you, but he does. He wouldn’t do that if he didn’t trust and care for you. Why did he pretend he didn’t? That’s what angered you.
“We never put a label on this. I thought we agreed on that.” He told you, shrugging and shaking his head.
“You agreed on that David. On your own. I wasn’t aware we agreed on that until right now.” You told him, frustration laced in your voice now.
“Okay, wait. Let’s just backtrack - We were having a nice lunch.” He shrugged, trying to avoid the subject.
You scoffed.
“I think you should leave.” You told him with a straight face.
He’d never seen you angry before. Not at him.
He was so used to you being enthusiastic and smiling that he’d forgotten you could get upset.
“Y/N, I’m sorry. Can we just… move on from it?” He asked you, guilt filling his chest.
“I really think you should leave now.” You told him again.
He wasn’t taking this seriously, so why have him here?
He looked at the floor and nodded. You bit the inside of your cheek and he got up to walk towards the exit of the kitchen. He stood at the doorway,
“I just don’t want to ruin us with a label.” He told you truthfully.
“Oh, you didn’t need a label to do that, David.” You spat at him.
Fuck.
There was a pang in his chest that he hadn’t felt in so long. A frog in his throat that he couldn’t swallow. The last thing he wanted to do was push you away like this.
He opened his mouth to say something in protest, but he was afraid his voice would come out broken. He wouldn’t let himself break in front of anyone.
“I’m sorry.” Is all he said as he left, walking out the front door.
Stupid, stupid, stupid. He thought.
Expletives and self deprecating sentences filled his brain as he entered his car.
He sat there in silence with his eyes closed for a moment. He punched the side of his steering wheel in anger and pulled his hand back in pain, immediately.
Every wrong thing he could’ve said - he said. Why did he have to get so scared every time he was gonna open up? Why did he get that sinking feeling?
God damn it. He sighed.
He grabbed his key from his pocket and turned on his vehicle, resuming his Led Zeppelin CD he had playing when he pulled up to your house.
Hey, I love that little lady
I got to be her fool
Ain’t no other like my baby
His hand stopped on the keys, not moving to bring himself out of park as he realized what was playing. He sat back and closed his eyes, sighing deeply. David should’ve known this would’ve happened. You’re so beautiful and loving. How could he not fall in love with you? What was he expecting? To not fall in love with you?
I can break the golden rule
“Cause I get down on my knees
Oh, I pray that love won’t die
God. Damn. It. He thought again. “You idiot.” He told himself.
He hated that some cheesy love song is what convinced him want to go back to you. He turned off his car and stepped out.
Fuck this. He was a man. He could do this.
He knocked on your door with haste, loud and clear, and clicked the lock button on his keys. He knocked again after a few moments of no answer.
“Alright, alright! I’m coming.” He heard your voice on the other side.
You opened the door and he immediately smashed his lips to yours, surprising you. He pulled you outside the front door and pushed you up against the a pillar on the porch. His arm grabbed your thigh and pulled it against his waist.
“I love you.” He told you, only stopping his kisses for just a moment.
His lips traveled down to your neck and he pulled you closer to his body, rubbing you both together deliciously. You gasped in pleasure and placed your hands on the side of his face. He left little marks and rough kisses against your skin and you smiled. You hope the whole neighborhood was looking out of their windows right now.
“I’m in love with you.” He said again, looking into your eyes this time, full of vulnerability and admiration towards you.
No harsh blinks, no hesitation, no darting eyes.
He meant it and you could see it. A smile formed its way on your face and you kissed him deeply, wrapping your arms around his neck,
“I love you so much, David.”

Chapter 4 <3
The cold November wind bit at my cheeks as I walked down the street, tote bags in hand. I was walking down the street to the local grocery store. I had really underestimated how cold it would be up here on the northern part of the East Coast. Pulling my jacket closer to me, I look up at the sky and let out a shaky breath.
After Detective Loki had left the other night, I made myself busy with house chores and ordered Chinese takeout for Mark and I. He came home and pretty much left me alone, which I was used to. I couldn't complain, though. It was easier to be left alone than to be pestered by a man-child that I wasn't even sure I loved anymore.
It was a hard task, hiding all of my subconscious smiles from him when thinking about Detective Loki. I knew that if he saw me smiling to myself like an idiot for no reason at all, he'd know something was up. As much as I wanted to settle down and start a new chapter in this sleepy little town, I wanted so bad to get away from Mark. I needed to get away from him. I wanted to go to New York City, become a freelance writer and live my dream. Or just start it somewhere, at least. Some place where I couldn't be found.  And with the sea of bustling people in New York, it seemed like the perfect place. I would maybe even travel, or find love somewhere in the breezy countryside of Paris, France. It's a cliché dream, but it's what I wanted, and what I strived for. I smiled to myself thinking of traveling with Detective Loki, but I shot it down instinctively. I didn't even know the man. Before I met Mark, I had aspirations. I had a heart full of love and gave it to the first person who asked. And it got me nowhere good. I didn't want to make the same mistake again.
With my jean-covered legs being on auto-pilot and my mind elsewhere, I reached the main street pretty fast. Watching the bustle of the neighborhood brought me a small joy. I strolled past some city workers putting up Christmas decorations. I wondered if I could get out by Christmas. But as much as the thought of leaving to New York City so soon appealed to me, I wanted to take a break from being so on edge. Mark was working nearly all day, and I usually had the house to myself, to do whatever I wanted until I would start my new job. I made a mental note to myself to keep myself calm, and stay on Mark's good side if I wanted my temporary stay here to be the least bit enjoyable.
I took a deep breath, and inhaled the crispy winter air that smelled of wet leaves and café food. Entering the market, I grabbed a shopping cart and headed to the first isle I saw. I planned on walking around for a good bit, getting to know the market and what I could bring home all by myself. I need to invest in a car, once I start working. I can't rely on him to take me everywhere. i thought to myself.
Walking mindlessly throughout the isles, I reached the frozen section where I planned on rummaging. I loved to cook, I thought of it as an art. I cooked all the time when Mark and I first started dating. He loved my cooking, and that was one of the first things we did together once we made our relationship official. We loved to do it together. But now, I couldn't bring myself to put as much love into it as I used to. I missed it.
I picked up some frozen garlic toast, pondering making Spaghetti and Meatballs for dinner, when I heard a familiar voice behind me.
"I personally like the New York Bakery brand. Or better yet, homemade." I turned and was face-to-face with Detective Loki. He was wearing a black winter coat, zipped up to his jaw, covering that neck tattoo that I liked to stare at. His hair was slicked back and neat as always, and his smell instantly drifted towards my direction. I remembered not to sniff so hard this time.
"Oh! It's you" I say with a toothy grin and a chuckle. "Yeah, I make a bomb garlic toast from scratch, but I'm not in a huge cooking mood today, you know how it is." I toss the toast into my cart with a shrug, leaning on my shopping cart to face him.
"Trust me, I understand." He looks at me with a sarcastic smile, motioning to his shopping basket, filled with instant ramen noodles and a case of energy drinks. I let out a hearty laugh, feeling heat rise up to my cheeks. As funny as it was, I felt bad for him. I could tell he needed a better diet, especially with the hard work and long hours he does.
"How's everything going? With the case, you know." I say, my smile fading. I couldn't even imagine the pain this case was causing everyone. Detective Loki included. It must have been why his diet only consisted of instant noodles and energy drinks.
"Oh. You know. It's been rough on everyone. The first 48 hours always is. We're holding the first search party tonight, if you want to come on by and help the girls' families out. I'm sure they'd appreciate it."
"Yeah, I'd love that. I'm sorry,  haven't heard about it on the news or anything. Haven't invested in a TV just yet, haha." I say with a light giggle. "What time is the search party?" I look up at his eyes, feeling a rush of heat through my body. He made eye contact with me, taking a second to respond, his eyes blinking a couple times before he spoke.
"At 6. It's about a quarter to. You can stop by at the station and we'll be handing out vests and gear and all that stuff." I was more than happy to help out. I wanted to try my best and help these families find their daughters. If it were my child, I'd want people to do the same.
"Sounds good. " I smile and a nod. "I'll walk home and drop this stuff off and I'll be on my way. My place is probably a 15 minute walk from here." I say, tucking a piece of my hair behind my ear.
"Let me drive you." He says in a firm tone. I hesitated for a second, "No, I couldn't ask you to do that. I don't live that far." I say with a nervous chuckle.
"Don't mention it." He says, waving a hand in dismissal. "It's cold out, and you've got a lot of groceries to handle. It's the least I can do." He says with a gentle smile. "You can count this as a favor returned for that great coffee you made me." He says. I couldn't help but smile at his absolute charm. His vibe was so comforting. I wanted to give him a hug and never let go.
"I'll go ahead and checkout, and I'll meet you in the front of the store. Sound good?" He says. I didn't even get a chance to refuse it. He was so persistent in helping me. I loved that about him already. I didn't feel a tiny bit guilty wanting to get into his car and talk a bit more, even if it was for a short time before he had to get back to work.
"Alright then" I say in happy defeat. "I'm almost done here." I mention towards the isle of frozen foods.
"No worries, take your time." He says strolling away into the next isle.
...
Lugging my bags of groceries to the front of the store, I feel a hand on my back and a woman's voice speak out to me.
"Miss, let me help you with that. You've got an awful lot of groceries there for such a small lady." She says with a chuckle. I turn to face her, and I'm face to face with an average height woman, who looks to be in her fifties. She had frizzy graying hair, and some outdated glasses. What's with these people and their 80's glasses?  I think to myself.
"Oh, it's alright, thank you so much. I've got someone to help me, but thanks so much for the offer, umm..."
"Holly. Holly Jones. And no, I insist. Let me help you carry this to your car, please." She was insistent on helping me, and wouldn't let me say no. Her persistence caught me off guard and put me off a bit, but I was stuck in a position where I couldn't leave, or decline her offer. I clearly wasn't able to carry them alone.
"That's alright, Mrs. Jones. I can help her carry them." Detective Loki walked up to us, slightly waving a hand in dismissal in Holly's direction. She looked up at him above her glasses, a frown plastered on her wrinkled face.
"Ahhh. Detective...Loki, was it? The man who let my son be attacked by a deranged man." She said in a low tone. I didn't know what she was talking about, but I could feel the tension rising. "Say, Detective, did you arrest that man for assault? I would hope so, considering your reputation around here." She says, looking around. There wasn't many people left in the store, but the cashiers were starting to take notice of the situation forming.
Embarrassed, I looked at Detective Loki, his eyes blinking rapidly and his brows furrowing. He bends down to grab my bags, and avoids eye contact with the woman. "Let's go, Cass." He says harshly. God, I loved the way my name rolled off of his tongue. I follow after him, looking back at the woman who had a smug smirk on her face, both hands gripping her shopping cart handle.
"He wouldn't be in this position if he kept his daughter on a tighter leash, Detective." She says in his direction. I look at him, the anger rising up to his face, and his eyes blinking. As he seems to do when he's thinking hard about something, or angry in this case. I instinctively put a hand on his bicep, trying to bring him back down to himself. I feel the outline of his muscles in my palm, feeling the sweat starting to rise in my hands. I give his arm a small squeeze, out of my own selfish curiosity.
"Please, Loki. She's just taunting you. It's just pettiness. Let it go, okay? Let's go. We've got those girls to look for." I say softly, with sorrowful eyes. I placed a gentle hand on the space between his muscular shoulders. He seemed to relax into my touch a bit, so I gave him a gentle rub and let go. I felt extremely bad, feeling as if it were my fault that I had put him in that position. He looks at me, and then speaks.
"You're right. Let's go." He took a deep breath, letting out a shaky breath. I could tell he was still angry, just trying to hide it as best as he could. Male rage was my specialty, and being with Mark taught me to learn the ins and outs of body language when it came to them about to lose control of themselves.
We walked to the car in silence. It wasn't so much awkward, but it was a tension-filled moment that put us in a weird silence. As we loaded the trunk with the grocery bags, I looked up to Detective Loki. "Are you alright? I know that was...something." I say, trying to lighten the mood.
"Yeah, I..I'm alright. Stuff like that just doesn't make this job easy when there's so much pressure. You know?" He says with a gentler tone, distancing his stare. "I'm trying my hardest here. I'm human too." His words made me want to wrap him in a warm blanket, and rip him away from all of his worries.
"Yeah. I get it. It's so hard on you already, I don't understand the lack of empathy some people have." I say, nodding my head in understanding. He looks at me and smiles, nodding his head also.
"You get it. That's refreshing to know."
We both get inside of the car, rubbing our hands together and scrambling to turn the car's heat on.
"Thank you, Loki. You didn't have to do this, you know."
"David. You can call me David." He says, pressing the Heat button on the dashboard. "And it's no worries. I'll be damned if I let you walk home alone in the cold and dark with that many bags. How would you defend yourself with your hands full?" He says quietly, looking directly at me. He looked my face up and down, his eyes landing on my lips. When he lowered his tone, I felt a tingle between my legs. His voice was so gentle, so charming. I wanted him to whisper sweet nothings in my ear.
Still looking at me, he chuckles and puts the car into drive.
"Don't know, David. Guess I'll need a knight in shining armor to defend me, huh." I say sarcastically.
"I wonder who that is" He says invitingly.
We both let out shy laughter and with that, we were off to my place.

Aww I love your writing so much!!!! 🩷🩷 The detective Loki A-Z felt so accurate 🥹 he’s so precious. Can you write something that kind of goes off the jealousy area? Like it’s a coworker who reader gets close with and is honestly clueless to the flirting?
F o r g i v e n
a/n: here you go, nonny! i couldn't agree more. David is my baby and he deserves some happiness and a warm hug
pairing: Detective David Loki x reader
summary: a new co-worker makes a misguided move on the reader and david gets pissed
warnings: language, angst, arguing (if i missed one, lemme know. minors, do not interact!)

Sliding your legs over the edge of your side of the bed, you sit up and rub the sleep from your eyes. David’s on the phone with O’Malley. You already know he’s gotta go into work today.
“Yeah, I’ll be there in 30 tops” he says lowly in his gravely morning voice before hanging up his cell phone.
“I’ll make breakfast” you smile sleepily at him.
You reach out to reassuringly squeeze his arm to let him know it’s alright. He’s already mentally beating himself up for waking you up and not being able to be enjoy his morning off with you as he had promised.
You make your way through the one-story house and head to the kitchen to get his coffee going. You decide on making a hearty breakfast because you know very well David will skip lunch today.
So, you settle for a nice egg, bacon, and cheese sandwich on toasted bagels with cream cheese. You make two for him so he can take one to work and hopefully eat while he’s on the road. You even cut up some bananas, apples, strawberries and oranges to make a little fruit salad.
David isn’t the healthiest guy around, but he deeply appreciates that you care for him and his health. He never really had anyone to care about him – much less his health – so he’ll sure make to eat every bite.
You hear his electric razor shut off after his shower. A while later, he comes into the kitchen with his hair slicked back. His light blue button-up shirt is open, exposing his white sleeveless undershirt. His gold chain dangles and dances around his neck as he buttons the cuffs of his shirt.
You can’t help but smile to yourself. You wish you could stop him and slide his button-up off. You love it when he wears his undershirt and chain around the house.
“Honey, think you can get a ride to work today?” he asks kissing the back of your head as you slice up the fruit.
“Yeah, babe. It’s no problem. I already texted Jared and asked him to pick me up.”
His hands working the buttons closed on his front stop as his eyes narrow in on the back of your head.
“Jared? You already texted him?”
“Yeah. I figured you’d leave before me.”
“Oh…”
You know that there’s something he’s holding back from you. You turn your head to glance at him, hoping to get a read of him as you slide the chopped-up fruit in a container.
“Is there a problem with that?”
You already know the answer to that.
“No. Nothing. Just didn’t know you and Jared were so close already. I mean, didn’t he just start there like two weeks ago?”
His eyebrows rise and his lip press flat as he looks down at his hands, letting them finish their work on his shirt.
“Two months ago, but he was pretty much on his own, so I figured I’d be the first to befriend him. The first weeks are the worst when you start working at a new place.”
“Yeah, I get that. Just didn’t think you were already texting each other.”
“Dave, there’s nothing going on between us if that’s what you’re thinking.”
“I didn’t say that.”
“You didn’t have to. Your face says it all.”
You’re slightly hurt that he would think there could be something brewinh between you and Jared. It may come from a place of worry, but isn't that trust is for?
“Look, I gotta get going. I’ll see you tonight.”
“Hey, Jare. Thanks for the late-notice lift. David got called in and my car’s still at the shop.”
You nod as you hand him the containers of sandwiches and his travel mug. He leaves you with a kiss on your forehead and you watch him leave, letting the tension hang in the air. You try to put it on the mental backburner as you head up to get ready for your day.
Hearing a honk coming from outside, you look out the window and confirm Jared’s arrival. You grab your bag, keys and phone before heading out the door and walking to Jared’s car.
“You know I don’t mind it at all. It’s been almost a couple days though. Have they given you any updates on it?”
“Something about the starting motor failing. Solenoid damage, I think? They have to replace some coils or some shit.”
“That shouldn’t take more than a few hours to replace though.”
“David says the same thing. He’s getting pretty impatient. Said he’s gonna stop by there today to check up. You know how some mechanics can be when they see a girl with car trouble.” You complete with a roll of your eyes.
“Yeah, some pricks take advantages. I know a thing or two about cars. I’d be happy to look into it for you if you want?”
“Really? Yeah, yeah. That’d be great. I’m gonna wait for David though. He said he’d stop by there today. I’ll give you a heads up though.”
After arriving to work, you head straight for your sector to settle in. You can’t help but notice how kind Jared seems to be towards you in this new light that David casted earlier in the morning.
Jared always offers to refill your water bottle whenever he gets up, always offers snacks, brings you back your favorite coffee or tea after his breaks, compliments your hair or nails or even your perfume. During the whole day, you can’t help but notice he doesn’t treat his other co-workers the same. You begin to wonder if you’ve led him on to believe you’re more than just co-workers or if it’s because he’s new and not very close to the others.
You decide to shake the thought from your head and go on about your work. However, with this new concept in the back of your mind, you start to politely deny Jared’s kind offers. He doesn’t seem hurt by it. A small wave of relief washes over you. Maybe you were just in over your head and overthinking what David had told you.
Around closing time, Jared stops by your station to check if you need a ride home. You check your phone, hoping David texted you with a reply about picking you up, but there’s no new messages.
Your heart sinks a bit. You’d hoped he could’ve at least replied. Is he really that upset with you?
“Yeah, I could use a ride.”
The house isn’t very far. You could walk home, but the rain is already pouring down heavy. And this time of year, the cold winter air is starting to arrive, slickening the streets and sidewalks with ice.
You smile to hide that you wished you didn’t need a ride from Jared. You know it’s not gonna make things easier to deal with at home.
Part of you thinks David is acting ridiculously like a child that's too selfish to share a toy. Only you’re not a toy. You’re a human being and you’re his fiancée. You’re supposed to be getting married.
The other part of you wonders how you would feel if it were the other way around. If he had a new partner on the job and spent hours with her. With everything Jared does for you, would you be ok with someone else treating David the same way?
Trying to settle the internal dispute, you remember that it’s your intentions that really counts. You’re not breaking his trust because you have no intention of getting with Jared. You’re friends and that’s all there is. And you would want David to have a good friend too in your situation.
You walk out together, gabbling on about the day as you climb into his car.
As Jared turns onto your street, you’re laughing over an amusing situation you’d survived in your first week at the company with an unsatisfied client. Jared had had his first unpleasant interaction with a frustrated client. Although he handled it pretty well, he was still a bit disappointed about it.
Grateful the rain has let up, you notice Dave’s car parked in the driveway. Why didn’t he at least text you back if he was home? You feel a slight pang in your chest, but you shove it down as you continue your conversation. Jared knows your line of though has been thrown off and he can only guess it has to do with the black Crown Victoria perched in front of the garage.
“It can happen to anyone,” you say looking up at the tall brown-haired co-worker as he turns the car off, parking in front of your house. You hear a door close from outside and keys jingling, but you don’t think much of it. Most of your neighbors get home at this time as well.
“You can’t please everybody and you have to accept that,” you resume looking down at the dashboard. “You’re not here to please, you’re here to do your job.”
“You’re an amazing person, you know that?”
Something is different about the way Jared is looking at you. It’s intense and you don’t like it.
He leans over the arm rest/storage compartment separating the front seats and places a surprising kiss on your cheek.
You quick react by pulling yourself back and gently push him away with a hand on his shoulder.
“Whoa, Jared. That’s sweet, but i-it’s not like that. We’re just friends. You realize that, right?” you ask frowning at him. “I’m happily engaged.”
“Y-yeah... I figured. I thought I-I’d shoot my shot. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done that.” He looks down embarrassed as his cheeks blush a bright regretful shade of red. “I misread things. I’m sorry. That’s on me. I’m so sorry.”
“It’s fine. Just… Don’t do that again, alright?”
“Yeah. Definitely will not” he chuckles nervously. “It won’t happen again. I promise. Just like you said, we’re only friends.”
You’re not really sure how to react. You can tell he feels really awkward about the whole thing, but you just want to get out of there as quickly as possible.
Flashing a shy, nervous smile at him, you thank him for the ride and climb out of the car. You slowly walk up the concrete path, digging through you bag for your keys.
Upon finding them, you look up and freeze.
David is standing in the path, glaring at the young man in the car. As he keeps his furious gaze locked on Jared, his hands move to rest on his hip. Pushing back his black winter jacket, his gold badge and his standard issue gun are exposed to remind Jared of who he is.
You don’t realize it’s a non-verbal threat. You just think he’s pissed judging by the constant hard blinking of his eyes.
“David, it’s not what you th-“ you start only to be cut off.
“In the house. Right now.”
He has a point. This isn’t a topic to discuss outside for all your neighbors to hear.
You walk quietly past him and march up the porch. You leave the door open for him, but he’s not far behind you. Only a couple moments since he’d been staring Jared down until he finally drove away.
The door slams as he enters the house.
“Are you fucking serious? There’s nothing going on, right?” He asks loudly and angrily.
“Yes, there’s nothing going on, Dave.” You say trying to stay calm, unwilling to match his tone. You’d be angry too in his place.
“You expect me to believe that after what I just saw?!”
“Yes, because that’s the truth. I know how that looked like. He thought I was sending him signs of interest. I won’t lie about that. But I didn’t want him to do that. There is absolutely no interest on my behalf!”
“The fucking chicken hawk just kissed you!”
“I didn’t want him to! I told him that! Maybe if you had picked me up from work or at least fucking texted me back, I wouldn’t have gotten in that fucking car in the first place!” you seethe at him.
“Oh, so this is my fault??” he snaps back at you bewildered.
He opens his mouth to speak, but just in that same moment, his cell phone rings. A hushed ‘fuck’ escapes from his lips as he answers the call. You just roll your eyes and fold your arm across your chest because you already know what that means.
The conversation is quick. You can’t tell much; all you know is that Captain O’Malley is calling him into the station.
“We’re not done on this”, he says with a raised finger in your direction and opens the door behind him.
The door slams shut. You close your eyes and lean against the wall, wishing you had never gotten in that car.
Dragging your tired body up the stairs, you make your way to your room. You notice the comforter is rumpled on David’s side along with his pillows. It’s not as you had it in the morning; it was neat and made to look inviting. You sigh and run a hand through your hair. Now you know why he didn’t answer you at first; he had fallen asleep.
You set your bag atop of the dresser that you share. You dig out your phone to set it to charge. There’re a couple unread messages and 2 missed calls; all from David and right around the time you’d left work.
Sorry, babe. Fell asleep and just woke up.
On my way right now!
You feel guilty thinking about how you could’ve avoided the whole ordeal. Now, David is mad at you and you’re mad at him for thinking that you wanted Jared to kiss you.
You head into the ensuite bathroom to shower and let the water wash away the stress of your day. As the warm water pours over you, you just hope this isn’t what ends your relationship.
Once you’re cleaned and a bit more relaxed, you go about the house to start on some of the chores. Deciding on a simple, quick and easy dinner, you sit on the couch to eat by yourself.
It’s been hours since David’s left and you miss him. You just want him to come home, so you can tell him how much you miss and love him.
You look down at your phone. He read your “I’m sorry” text, but he hasn’t replied. You wonder if it’s because he’s busy or he just doesn’t want to talk to you.
Wanting to stay up and wait for him, you start on the dirty dishes and pots in the kitchen. Then the laundry. You can’t stay still. It bothers you too much and you have to stay awake. There’s nothing left to do around the house, so you plot back down on the couch and surf through the channels to try to find something to watch.
It’s around midnight when you hear his car pull into the driveway. You race to the window to look out and make sure it’s him. He looks tired as he approaches the house with his keys in hand. His shoulders are hunched from the weight of the day’s stress.
You stand by the window and watch as he drags himself inside. He closes the door and hangs up his jacket before kicking his boots off. His back is turned to you and he hasn’t seen you yet.
When he does, he gazes at you for a moment. He’s too tired to argue, but he loves the fact that you’re wearing his sweater.
“You hungry? I made dinner. I can make you a plate,” you say softly breaking the silence.
“Yeah, I could eat.”
It’s quiet between you both. It’s a moment of cease fire. The elephant is still in the room, but you know how his weighs heavily on him. Especially with the case he’s working on. You don’t know much about it. David likes to keep that away from you. All you know is what you heard on the news and that there are kids involved. Those types of cases hit too close to home for him.
You leave him to eat in peace and tell him that you’re heading up to bed.
Assuming he’ll sleep on the couch since he must be upset still, you head to the bathroom to have a final tinkle before bed and brush your teeth. You crawl into bed and hug your pillow as you stare at the wall, luminated only by the fluorescent orange light of the street lamps.
Tears prick your eyes. You hate this distance between you and him. It’s ridiculous, but you know it’s not the time for it.
You hear David’s footsteps coming up the stairs and down the hall. The door creaks as he walks into the bedroom.
He goes about his usual routine; set his ring and chain on top of the dresser along with his badge. Then he walks over to the nightstand to open the drawer there. He pulls his gun from it's holster and makes sure its' safety is on. He had set it before already, but it never hurt to double check.
Soon after setting the gun in the lockbox within the drawer, he quietly makes his way to the bathroom. He opens the squeaky faucet and water pours from the shower.
He doesn’t take long. It’s a quick shower to wash his hair and body. He’s too tired to do more than he has to.
You hear him come into the room to grab a pair of boxers from his drawers. He seems quiet and still. Though your back is turned to him, you feel his eyes on you.
He stands still, hands on the wooden dresser as he mentally contemplates what to do. He knows it wasn’t your fault. He knows it wasn’t you who kissed Jared. He saw you pull away and push him back. He knows you didn’t like it or expect it just as much as him.
His head drops and his eyes close. In truth, the time at work had kept him too busy to think about it much, but he did think about you. Part of him felt you were like a victim, caught up in the crime with no fault. The other part of him wondered what could have happened to influence Jared to kiss you.
With a heavy sigh, you sense his footsteps approaching the bed. You expect to feel the wool blanket at the foot of the bed slide off along with his pillow.
To your surprise, you feel the comforter lifts behind you allowing a cool breeze to creep onto your back. Your heart beats faster. The mattress dips with his heavy frame. And you feel an arm drape over your waist.
“You awake?” His voice is a whisper in the dark.
You reply with a nod. You don’t want him to see you’re crying, though you know it’s inevitable.
“Can we talk?”
You quickly wipe your eyes in an attempt to omit the evidence of your pain. Turning onto your other side, you’re face to face. His hand doesn’t leave your waist. You let him slide underneath your shirt to feel your warmth.
“I don’t wanna fight. I don’t wanna argue,” he starts.
“Neither do I, Dave.” Your voice is soft as you reach to tenderly hold his bicep. You want to pull him close and hold him forever, but that might be too much.
“Are you really happy being with me?”
Your heart breaks to think that he feels like you might not be happy with him. You open your mouth to answer him, desperate to chase away his fear, but he continues.
“I know I’m not the best partner. I know for sure I haven’t been in the past. In some relationships, I didn’t even try to be. But I’m trying, sweetheart. I’m trying real hard because I love you and I want to be with you. I don’t know if it’s enou-“
You can’t listen to him anymore.
“Listen to me, Dave. I love you. You are more than enough for me and you make me the happiest in the world. And that’s enough for me. I’m not going anywhere.”
“You sure about that?” he asks with pleading eyes.
“Yeah, I’m sure. Jared is just a dude I felt bad for at work. I was just trying to be a friend, that’s all. But he misread my intentions. That’s it, that’s all that happened. And I’m gonna distance myself from him because I don’t want him to get the wrong idea.”
David feels relieved to hear your solution. He didn’t want risk sounding like a possessive jerk and ask you to not talk to Jared anymore, but he likes that you’re willing to make that change willingly for the sake of your relationship.
After all, he can’t be surprised someone else would want to have you.  The minute he met you, he wanted you for himself as well. He’s just lucky he got to have his chance before anyone did.
He smiles tiredly at you and closes his eyes as he rests his forehead against yours.
“Think you can forgive me for being a dick earlier? I shouldn’t have yelled at you like that.”
“I don’t know. You might just have to make it up to me” you tease with a playful smirk, getting a low chuckle out of him.
“Whatever you want. Just name it.”

Hi do you take requests for Detective David Loki? He was in the movie prisoners, if you do take requests would you write about him coming home after a long day to just want to lay down in bed with his partner. You can add anything else you would like.

Light of My Life | Detective David Loki x GenderNeutral!Reader
Hey there! Okay, so, technically I don't write for him - or at least I didn't, lol (I am now). I didn't have him listed, but Jake Gyllenhaal was the reason I first watched the movie a few years ago, so I might as well! Anyway, thanks for the request, and I hope you like what I've done with it! <3

Getting out of his car, opening the door, walking inside and letting his keys fall in place on the little table in the hallway felt like chore after chore. It was as though it all took a lot more effort than it really needed. He was drained. Exhausted. It had settled deep into his bones by then.
David has had a tough case on his hands lately. He had solved it today, but not without any dead bodies. Not without any blood on his hands. He felt a piece of his soul die with it. How much of it was still left anyway?
The only light in his life was you.
Coming home to you was what kept him going. Helping people was what motivated him to keep working, to go outside every day. But you were the sole reason why he hadn’t given up altogether and why days like this hadn’t pulled him down and under with them entirely yet. He could only save so many after all.
“David?” you asked, rounding the corner to the hallway, which he still stood in, frozen to the spot.
Blinking rapidly, David nodded, swallowing thickly.
“Yeah, hi! Sorry, I was just- I was lost in my own head for a minute there,” he excused himself to you, rubbing his forehead tiredly. God, he just wanted to curl up and sleep forever.
“Hey, are you okay? Did something happen at work?” you prodded gently, coming up to him and stopping only mere inches away from him.
Shaking his head, David sighed heavily, “I’m fine.”
In a way he hated himself for not being honest with you. No, he wasn’t fine. Yes, something did happen. He was tired and distressed, and he needed to be held and to be told that things were going to be okay; even if it may not feel that way right now.
When he felt your hands on his jacket, he flinched for a split second. He hadn’t noticed you moving at all, let alone touching him.
“Sorry,” you murmured, “I just wanted to take it off for you. Okay?”
David nodded.
Then you unzipped his jacket and gently took it off before hanging it up on the coat hanger. While you did that, he took his boots off. He felt a lot lighter already, like he left some of the horrors he’d seen and felt that day behind himself.
“Come on,” you said, taking his right hand into yours and pulling him after you to the bedroom.
Were you a mindreader? Or did you just know him so well that you knew that this was exactly what he needed and wanted right now?
In the bedroom, you both undressed down to your shirts and underwear. And then you laid down on the bed together.
At first, David just lay on his back, staring at the ceiling, while you shifted on your side to look at him. He could feel your eyes on him.
“It’s okay if you don’t wanna talk about it,” you told him softly, putting a gentle hand on his chest. The light pressure and warmth put him slightly more at ease already.
“I wish I could just tell you about it, Y/N. But I can’t,” David responded, turning his head to finally look at you, as he laid his own hand on top of yours, intertwining your fingers.
You gave him a small, sincere smile.
“It’s okay. I know you’re not allowed to anyway and I understand that it’s hard for you. I was thinking that you should maybe see a counsellor then? Just a suggestion, though. I’m worried about you, y’know?”
If it had been anyone else that had suggested this, he would have immediately blocked them off and refused. But this was you. And so he gave it a moment to sink in.
Perhaps you were right. Maybe he should see someone about it. Captain O’Malley had often mentioned that he should and that there was someone specifically for police officers.
“Okay,” he whispered, “I might do that. I’ll talk to the captain so he can give me some contacts.”
Shifting closer to him, you tangled your legs with his and stroked his hair with your free hand.
“Thank you,” you told him quietly, pressing a short kiss to his forehead.
David closed his eyes and simply revelled in the warmth, safety and comfort you were currently showering him in. This was why he loved coming home to you so much. Every time you knew what to do and say to make him feel better, no matter what he may have seen out there, whatever he may have witnessed or done. None of it mattered here with you.
And soon, he finally drifted off into a peaceful slumber, leaving everything bad behind himself.
