ive been thinking it would b fun to learn a new language but i dont want to go back to swesish bc that's boring. i don't want to go back to spanish bc im just unable to nail the pronunciation down and it's critical in a language that's spoken so widely bc ppl WILL make fun of a white boy trying to speak spanish. thai could b fun but i don't really feel like learning a new writing system. my native language is finnish so i think i could thrive with another phonetic language and i want something that's simple but has challenge, like, a lot of conjugation but easy to grasp grammar rules. do you guys see my problem. the problem being it's starting to sound like i need to learn polish

the yu meirin vs cu matchup is a tough one. on one hand i totally get what people mean by yu meirin being very skilled as she can handle xiang yu's massive af one and has historical links. but then i feel like she would definitely not do that service to most other people and would likely glare them down if they so much as asked, so shes like a technical winner? very skilled and dedicated in terms of her husband but maybe primarily just to her husband which is valid.

but then on the other hand cu chulainn is definitely a service orientated man and a lover of many (all genders), but would he be too prideful for head because of his more old school heroic identity of strength and masculine pride? or would this Pride showcase itself in him trying to give the 'best head of ulster'?!!! i mean the men of ulster were scared he'd steal their wives because he was both pretty and a good time.

alright so, same anon as before since this is kind of following that same thread, and this makes sense in my head but i’m not sure if i’ll be to convey it over text in the most concise way so please bear with me if this comes out an unintelligible mess

i’ve been wondering for awhile just what was the catalyst for greg’s sudden need to ask out a woman, and then in turn try to get with any tenable woman within reason. we know he’s overcompensating with his comphet, but just what triggered it? when in the past two and half seasons greg has never been shy about displaying or announcing his disinterest in (hetero)sexual discussion or activities (asking if there’s a non sexual corner for him at tom’s bachelor party, his disgust at tom’s confession later, other examples i’m probably forgetting)

then it suddenly occurred to me. starting from 2x07 and up to 3x07 greg and tom have their “going to jail is a very real possibility and we’re terrified” arc. they both have reasonable anxieties, although greg’s is almost immediately honed in on the likelihood of him being assaulted (“yeah you’d like that pretty boy like you” “because of my physical length i could be a target for all kinds of misadventure”). tom definitely has that concern too, but included is also the worry of his entire life crumbling around him, the end of his marriage and lack of creature comforts. since the greg sprinkles line on the yacht, everyone has been aware of the possibility of tom and by extension greg serving time, and of course nobody else is sympathetic to it. when they view either of them with that in mind the possibility of them being abused in prison isn’t a reality to them, it’s a punchline. and tom and greg are aware of that

cue 3x07. tom has relieved greg of that outcome, prison is off the table. greg is thrilled, but it probably soon comes crashing down on him now that for the past few months the possibility of him being involved in (non consensual) homosexual activities has been a joke to his entire social circle. through no action of his own he is aware that the people around him have thought of him in sexual situations involving other men, even as a fleeting thought. (the soyboy insult from 3x06 can’t be far from mind either)

whether subconsciously or not, that is when he decides to make his (up until now, nonexistent) interest and desire for women known. suddenly he can’t ask comfry out fast enough. and he wants people to know. he seeks out kendall’s approval, he tries to get tom in on it and later brags when he secures a date. at caroline’s wedding when he’s no longer content with comfry, he basically steals the contessa out from roman, and makes sure tom and shiv know. he has two women on each arm at the ceremony. he basically puts up a giant flashing billboard, as if to say, look everybody! cousin greg who everyone thought was doomed to be a prison wife is actually a playboy, and not only does he exclusively like women, he can’t get enough of them.

(there is also something to be said about how when tom breaks the news of their freedom to greg, he is the most outwardly physically affectionate to greg he has been so far with the kiss, and how that also could have triggered a gay panic, leading greg to want to overcompensate and not deal with the feelings brought on by that action and their ever building tension. also how his demand for proof at the red sequoia line was an at that time uncharacteristically aggressive response regarding tom’s consistent sexual teasing, when he felt his masculinity was being challenged, but i digress)

on GOD your brain is absolutely massive anon i. OOGH! all i can say is YEAH this is completely sound and makes so much seeense ugh. the pain and torment and it fits very well in with jesse's usual sort of. display of masculinity and sexuality and all that.

but the LAST paragraph. oogh. this especially makes me LOSE it because of something i've discussed with a mutual about the way greg brings his hands up when he gets kissed by tom, almost like... he's expecting a kiss at the last moment and might reciprocate? i always thought he was bringing up his hands in self defence but surely they'd be more like. palm up? like when he pushed against tom at the recny ball [i think that's right, basically the episode where we found out he snitched to gerri] if that was the case right...? so. like. yeah. but then he thinks better of it. that would also fall in line with what you're saying here.

Weird idea, but if Yukito realizes he has feelings for you while he’s being jealous of some guy for touching you or anything like that he will literally have this moment where he spaces out and completely, genuinely and fully considers hunting down and killing every man that has ever touched because he simply doesn’t think anyone deserves to feel your touch, he barely believes he himself deserves your touch let alone your presence, why should some dull, boring man get to talk to you? she doesn’t have kids within the timeline of rdr2 and as often as she fantasizes about settling down with arthur and raising some little munchkins, the two are never financially stable enough to actually do that...and then arthur dies...after she leaves the van der linde gang she might go on and find someone to settle with, but i haven’t really flushed out that part of her story yet lmao. but she is good with kids! if she weren’t running with a gang of criminals she probably would be a schoolteacher or music tutor.

oogh i don’t have the brain-power atm to do a propper minific, but their first meeting arthur held a gun to her head. 

she had sweet-talked her way into acting as a tutor for a rich cattle baron’s children, and she was slowly schmoozing him into giving her at least some of his money. she wasn’t quite at mistress levels yet (but she was getting close, at which point she would duck and run with whatever fancy gifts/jewelry/silverware he had), but when dutch and arthur had robbed the man, they assumed she was. they held her hostage, and upon realizing the man wasn’t home, kidnapped her for ransom. she knew they weren’t going to hurt her though. she didn’t pose a threat to dutch and she could tell that arthur was too good a man to just shoot a lady. what they didn’t expect was her to help them rob the guy. if they let her help and give her a cut, she’d show them where his safes and lockboxes are and she’ll open them up. the ransom/robbery ends up successful and after riding off into the night with their pockets and purses much heavier, she and dutch negotiate a place for her within the gang. she rides back to camp with arthur on his horse and he helps get her set up and apologizes rather awkwardly for pointing a gun at her, but she just smiles at him and is just like “oh, it’s quite alright, herr morgan. i knew you weren’t going to shoot me.”

and then sometime later hosea comes in to speak with her because after talking with dutch about the circumstances under which she joined, he saw her for what she is (a con artist). and while he’s not sure what her motivations are exactly,  he gives her a very stern talking to about him not tolerating any kind of funny business.

she has! it’s almost exclusively been in self defense (save for at least one...maybe two poisonings), but she’s got blood on her hands, just the same as most of the vdl gang. she’d much rather talk her way out of a given situation rather than stab or shoot someone, but sometimes luck doesn’t go her way and she’s had to hurt some people (but in her defense, they’re usually bad men and deserve it) 

👑 If your OC was made royal (or is royal) how would they use their power? Are they a good leader or bad? Do their subjects like them or is it ‘off with their head’? Do they enjoy being royal?

ohhhh i mean she’d probably use at least a little of that power selfishly to be honest...nice dresses, a big home that’s lavishly furnished, a library and high end instruments, daily baths...she would treat herself to all the luxurious frivolity she would otherwise never be able to afford. but she isn’t without compassion and i think she would at the very least try to rule well. she knows firsthand the kind of suffering that can happen under a monarchy and i think she’d try to work to make sure others don’t suffer the same kind of hardships she had as a child/young adult, but also i think having so much power would stress her out. she doesn’t want to be responsible for that many people, and even though i think for the most part she’d be well liked, there will always be those who oppose the crown, and she would rather die than have someone not like her :/

and the ocs whom this song would apply to are due for a rework but I need to explain this

so there's this kid called Virus (I am changing her name in the rework because I want to make a conlang for the species she belongs to) and her dad is Vantablack (again, due for a name change). Vantablack is very neglectful and mean to her because of a disability that she has (the species they come from are derived from Lepidopteran insects, and she was born without wings), and is low-key kind of scummy to all the women in his life (he's not a rapist, as is mentioned in the song, but the vibes are there)...anyway...stuff happens and all this culminates in Virus smashing in Vantablack's head with a mace, and then doing a 'disrespecting the dead' sort of thing (that's a whole other thing that I won't explain here)

it's not 1:1 with the song but the raw energy of 'BRING THE BEATDOWN BRING THE BEATDOWN' the drive to slay the monsters, the sheer anger that people stoop to such lows and that society has produced the environment that funnels people down this pipeline, the grief over the lives destroyed or lost through the madness, and the vengeance awaiting those who exploit others, but also the visceral pain of being trapped in this system and the desire to topple the status quo...very Virus-core if you ask me

His role in the games is like, big chill older brother hunter I'd say. In both games he's like, the first hunter you interact with and is friendly towards you (the first interacting in 2 isnt the most positive but hes still like. pretty nice about it gshgsf) and he teaches you about hunters as opposed to riders and how they can work together and everything. Which is a bigger deal in the 1st one bc riders are very unknown and seen as strange but they seem more like, known about now in the 2nd game.

In like, lore I guess he's a really strong and well known hunter that, at least in the first game, was more about working by himself than with a team. He's rly lazy tho gshghfsf I don't remember if he was always lazy or he became more lazy but when u meet him in 1 he like, is usually trying to find ways to get out of missions unless its to go collect mushrooms bc he just fuckin loves mushrooms man. And when you meet him in 2 hes assigned to help you and hes like "god what do I have to?" but he does ! he's lazy but he knows when he needs to do shit and he'll do it. uhhhh also hes afraid of bugs its very cute <3

god sorry to make this 500 years long but for the GAY side of things. Mylo ran away from home very young and was picked up by a hunter & brought to Gildegaran, the big city w/ the hunters guild from the 1st game, where he met young hunter-in-training Reverto. He was obviously very anxious bc he was like. 13 or something and he was just completely out of his element so he clung to anyone that was nice to him sgdghsghs which happened to be the hunter that picked him up (unnamed rn i dont wanna make another bitch atm), Reverto, and Reverto's mentor. So they kinda grow up and learn to be hunters together and they're stupid himbo jocks who do a lot of dumb boy things. Mylo has a crush on him for awhile but it takes Reverto many years to realize he likes men and then he just like gives him a kiss out of nowhere gksgfhs maybe I'll make it DURING the 1st game so there can be a fake subquest to get them to kiss. who knows

i spent my entire childhood being hopelessly in love with my best friend without knowing it, tearing up boys' numbers and getting jealous every time someone showed interest in her.

Marriage and civil unions between same sex partners are not legally recognized or available in South Korea. Adopting children as a same sex couple is prohibited (because only MARRIED couples are allowed to adopt). Discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation or gender identity is NOT illegal. Korean national discrimination laws do not extend to lgbtq individuals. These means there is no legislation against hate crimes, workplace discrimination or denial of goods and services on grounds of sexual identity. The Korean Human Rights Committee can make reccomendations to public institutions and businesses, however, these are not legally binding, and are often ignored. There need to be laws protecting lgbtq people. Obviously, positive representation of queer people in the media can mitigate heterocentric sociocultural conditioning and affect public opinion over time. But this is question of passing laws, like right now.

Arguably, there is a mental health and human rights crisis happening right now. Nearly half of all lgbtq Korean youth attempt suicide. Legislature that would protect the basic human rights of lgbtq people has been actively blocked by conservative politicians since 2007. There is also a lot of opposition from groups of conservative Christians (look up 'Anti Homosexuality Christian Solidarity, Korea').

Same sex acts are criminalized in the military which, as we know, is mandatory for nearly all cis men. Trans women have to meet a number of prohibitive, discriminatory, and restrictive requirements before they can have their gender identity recognized by the government. This means that Korean trans women have to go through the agony of serving in the military as 'men'.

Conversion 'therapy' is not banned.

These are all things we should keep in mind when supporting our favorite idols and wishing them happiness.

Anyway, thanks for being a wonderful ally. I am sorry if you ever felt discrimination in your adopted country. Sending love, one immigrant to another (if I understood correctly!).

I was in shock when I discovered just how deep the discrimination against LGBTQ+ was in SK, being far behind some of the other South East Asian countries when it comes to their basic human and civil rights.  So sad.  And the suicide and attempted suicide rate absolutely horrible.  

I am sitting here and can’t stop thinking what can be done to make it better.  It’s so frustrating.  As an outsider all I can do is create an environment where we can discuss this, support the LGBTQ+ community on social media, be their voice and support from the outside.  

It kills me how much hatred is out there for one another.  I can’t fathom why human beings are not able to just live and let live.  This need to look at others and interfere in their lives and how they choose to live that life...oogh, it drives me crazy. 

Anyway, as much as I can, and for what it’s worth, I’m sending out my love and support not only to JM and JK (whom I adore for who they are), but also to all the SK LGBTQ+ community.
