This publication will explain the source ofthe thermal
Bath has a varied history with the town initially beingformed in Roman times around AD 60 which was 20 years after the Romansinitially came to Britain. It got very popular in the Georgian period with manytravelling to consume the waters which were believed to have medicinalbenefits.  The increase of visitorstravelling to the area increased the need for houses and therefore new houseswere built using bath stone and these are evident today through the Georgianstructures that Bath is famous for.
This publication will explain the source ofthe thermal waters which drew people to the area and thereby developed the townto the remarkable place it is currently. The formation of Bath stone occurred throughout the Jurassicperiod in geological history. During this time Bath was covered by shallow seasso when marine life died and dropped to the bottom of the sea bed they becamecompressed Custom Medical Sterilizer Autoclave gradually to create a sedimentary rock called limestone. Over aperiod of millions of years these rock formations were distorted leading tofault lines to emerge and the town now inhabits in what is referred to as asedimentary basin. It is thought that the water resource for the thermalsprings originates from rainwater precipitating on the Mendip Hills which lie10-15km south-west of Bath. This water permeates through rocks causing aquifersto develop at a depth of around 3km to 4km.
The water is then heated bygeothermal energy (energy originating from the centre of the earth) to justunder boiling temperature around 96°C. The water as a result is expelled to theearth’s surface under great force via the fractures and weakened parts of therock brought on by the faults and deformation over the course of time. The Celts were the first to apply the properties of thethermal springs and constructed a shrine at the location of one of the thermalsprings. Later on the Romans developed a centre of baths on the site withdifferent temperatures of bath from hot, warm and cold. The baths weredeveloped over the years and used consistently by the population. However inthe present day they are not suitable for human bathing, but the building is stillused as a museum. The museum houses artefacts from the Roman occupation of thetown. New thermal baths (Thermae Bath Spa) are now situated on a subsequentsite so the general public today can take pleasure in the merits of bathing insprings heated simply by the Earth.

Liopleurodon. . Done for @pangaeatcg . A pliosaur, which is not technically a dinosaur but a marine reptile. (There were no aquatic dinosaurs. Except for possibly Spinosaurus, but that’s another topic altogether) It did however live during the same period as the dinosaurs and is closely associated with them, so it frequently gets grouped in with dinosaurs. Liopleurodon rose to fame in the BBC documentary Walking With Dinosaurs although it was depicted as much larger than it really is in that show. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #liopleurodon #pliosaur #marinereptile #dinoart #dinoartist #dinosaurart #paleoart #dinoartwork #dinosaurartwork #prehistoric #prehistoricanimals #mesozoic #jurassic #jurassicperiod #walkingwithdinosaurs #gameart #cardgameart #tcgart #cardart https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn0EB31qmXA/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Dinovember 2017 Day 7, Europasaurus. . No, that sea turtle isn’t huge, the dinosaur is just really small—well, for a sauropod, that is. In fact, this relative of Brachiosaurus measured only 20 feet long as an adult. It’s small size was due to the very island it lived upon in the Late Jurassic (which would eventually become northern Germany), making it an example of insular dwarfism. It was still the biggest animal in its environment...until sea levels dropped dramatically, and carnivores bigger or equal to it in size dropped in, spelling its demise. #instaart #artistoninstagram #drawing #painting #digitalart #ipadproart #procreateapp #dinovember #drawdinovember #dinovember2017 #dinosaur #europasaurus #sauropod #longneck #dwarfism #insulardwarfism #jurassicperiod #seaturtle #islandbeach #prehistory #paleoart #speculative #creaturedesign
