-"Here" by Junna (aka the greatest Yuki Kajiura-esque song that a teenager could have ever sung my girl Junna is my age and I will forever gas her up!)
i guess i can't escape animanga tumblr at all the second i saw this trailer on twitter i screamed bc 1.) i was thinking about ancient magus bride when i celebrated the beautiful ending of sacrificial princess a few weeks ago and 2.) ?!?! ppl aren't really talking about it on anitwitter?
i'll never forget how thrilled i was when i stumbled upon the curious thumbnail of mahou tsukai no yome online and found it to be my perfect spiritual successor to the "earl and fairy" celtic lore of my youth. double that emotion when its first anime adaptation came onto my screen (somewhere in that video i linked is a mini essay comment of my thrills LOL) and led to many excited moments of pretty colors and sequences.
now i'm not even just thrilled i feel super satisfied (^-^) people love the world kore yamazaki has created with its odes to different mythologies and story that has so many cheering on precious chise's happiness. i'm hoping the fact that the original season 1 staff are making their own studio to produce season 2 means the series is having natsume yuujinchou-level projections of success--will forever stan brain's base for natsume + its offshoot studio shuka!
hope all the shoujo + fantasy fans on tumblr are having a field day bc i know i'm most definitely ready to see chise's college days come to life 🥺 so excited to see all the fellow students! am also again really really hoping the formation of studio kafka signifies ancient magus' bride's ability to succeed in the mainstream (>.<)/ fingers crossed here! (there was even actual fantasy erotica inspired by it so you never know--LMAO i'd read the actual book on KU before seeing vtuber twitter explode over it so if ppl are curious look up duskwalker brides)
marimoirl moment: i'm in a really weird limbo stage right now in life trying to job-hunt while staying afloat money/mental-wise but i was happy to not feel super existential over something happening next spring for once aha. i'm really looking forward to having the whimsical-magic-and-peaceful-yet-melancholic-atmosphere of ancient magus bride 2 come into the world next year 🥺🤞 am also keeping my fingers crossed that my life will look a bit different in the right direction by then!
manifesting, manifesting; but also working, and most importantly, hoping with all my heart 💗🙏
is no one going to talk about. about the fact that. that the character is named hachi which means 8. will we not talk about the fact that the character junna finds cute not only looks like nana but is also fucking named after THE NUMBER THAT COMES UP RIGHT AFTER 7 AKA NANA’S NAME?!?!?
shakes you by the shoulders. in nana's script of phantom of the opera, the ending was rewritten so that the phantom and christine separate peacefully, confirming their love for each other, as well as promising to remember each other forever.
(remember that it's no secret that nana heavily relates the phantom and wrote christine's script with junna in mind.)
compared to that, their actual separation in the movie, the thing nana fought for close to sixty years in a timeloop to avoid, was rough and messy. even worse: while in nana's phantom, it was her leaving junna, in reality, it was junna who ended up leaving her in the end. nana of course tried to cut her off on her own terms beforehand, but failed miserably. sure, at least there is the faint promise of "someday", but still, it's a far cry from the bittersweet yet idealistic, mutually professed affection of nana's erik and christine.
all i'm saying is, it really speaks to why nana was so [gestures] like that in the movie. her entire world was crumbling around her with no real handle to hold onto, the people she gotten to grow and care for in her own (perhaps shallow) way during those decades all changing and "deviating from her script", as she sees it, and her revue with junna served as an outlet for all her bitterness, fear, anger and pain. so while of course she shouldn't have, you know, metaphorically suicide bait the person she holds so dear to her heart, it's more than fitting, considering we see her at her absolute lowest. overall, it's quite unfair to compare her in the movie, to who she was in her first and second year, back when everything was within her control. happy who knows how many months in theaters for revue starlight the movie, i'll never recover
For the Revue Starlight Ask Game, can you do 1 or 3?
what character do you relate to most?
Definitely Junna. I've always been very studious and love learning about whatever I possibly can given the chance. We have a loyal following for rules in things like school (with exceptions for friends), quote things a lot, collect things, etc. I also overwork myself to the point where I physically cannot work anymore for the sake of trying to "get better". Junna's very stubborn and refuses to stay down which like. same. OK, one final thing because i could seriously go on and on but just like her, my family also didn't initially approve of my dream to go into the arts because it was "wasted potential" or something like that (They wanted me to be a doctor). They eventually came around but let's just say if I lived in dorms, I probably wouldn't want to go back home during school vacations either HAHAHA.
Actually wait I lied that was not the final thing, but y'know her whole fucked up relationship with Nana? Yeah I went through something similar. BUT that's a story for another time and a much more private blog PLSS
(I really over thunk this ask as I usually do but it hope my answer is somewhat coherent)
