i like to think julian can hold his breath for a long time due to his augmentations so whenever he wants some quiet or space to think he’ll just lay facedown in a holo-pool.
other people don’t know he can healthily do this though so when miles comes in, asking about some type of access code or whatever, and sees julian motionlessly bobbing in the water he just assumes the worst.
o’brien is blubbering because oh fuck his best friend is /dead/. tears prick at his eyes, his breathing is labored, hands shaking as he goes to com in for medical personnel.
and then julian just rolls over like one of those gas station hot dogs and o-brien actually cries out in relief, which finally gets the CMO’s attention.
anyway, that’s the story of how julian learned that pseudo-drowning yourself where people can just walk in is not the best idea
excuse me. i need your help. you need to kill me. ive been turned into a white action figure by rick berman, the wicked witch of socal. im only two strips of latinum. thank you sir. sweet release.
My personal headcanon is that after the episode where Kira and Julian make out while under the (accidental) influence of Lwaxana Troi they just start causally hooking up whenever both of them are single, it's just no big deal to either of them and it doesn't affect their friendship in either way. Like I can totally see them both being like "yeah I'm attracted to you, you're attracted to me, neither of us want a relationship with each other, let's have sex"
Star Trek makes me soooo crazy cuz you got Picard saying things like "It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose."
And Data saying things like "I would gladly risk feeling bad at times, if it also meant that I could taste my dessert."
And Bashir saying things like “You can't go through life trying to avoid getting a broken heart. If you do, it'll break from loneliness anyway."
And Odo sayings things like "It has been my observation that one of the prices of giving people freedom of choice is that sometimes they make the wrong choice."
i think the reason why i love garashir so much is because they lean into their “bad” traits so much. they’ve fought and seen the ugly sides of the other: the addiction, the obsessiveness, the annoying talkativeness, the social ineptitude, and brokenness from both of their past and yet they still love each other wholly. it’s a good freshness to the common (but loved), “you’re perfect, luv u”
