So guess who wrote a silly little snippet for the Star Swap AU >:3
I started this with the intention of writing the “Joseph Runs On Water” aspect of the au but then I began writing the rest of the boat scene and the next thing I knew it was over 2k words long and I hadn’t even encountered Zucchero so there might be a Part 2 to this later on rjvbjdfbe
--------------
Abbaccio felt like he was going to punch something.
He hated being backed into corners like this. Especially when he didn’t know what they were up against.
However, he hadn’t been expecting to be literally backed into a corner….. in a certain sense. Sure there weren’t any walls, but he, Bucciarati and Jojo were more or less trapped. They had no idea where the enemy was, if there were multiple, or where the hell the rest of the team was.
Jojo seemed to share his frustration, if the uncharacteristic glare on his face and the way he kept constantly shifting his weight was any indicator.
And of course, Bucciarati’s words were far from comforting.
“You think Narancia and the others are dead?” Abbaccio found himself questioning aloud. That was…. surprisingly bleak for Bucciarati. Sure the man wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows, but usually he tried to stay on the brighter side of things.
“I didn’t say that.” Bucciarati side eyed him, but Abbaccio could see his calm mask begin to crack a bit around the edges. “But this is 10 billion we’re talking about.”
It wasn’t a pretty possibility, but it was still possible. They had no idea who they were up against, and Abbaccio could name several members of Passione who wouldn’t mind getting their hands dirty with the blood of fellow members, and that was before throwing in the monetary incentive.
But still, this was half their team getting taken out in a single fell swoop, and it would’ve been over half had Jojo not joined them today. Abbaccio wanted to hope it wasn’t permanent but-
“They’re alive.” Jojo suddenly spoke up. “I don’t know where they are, but if our attacker was able to make them disappear like this, it’s most likely they’re still alive.”
Abbaccio looked at him with a small glare. “And how are you so sure about that?”
“Bucciarati, you care about your team, right?”
……what?
“Of course I do.” Bucciarati answered without hesitation, his voice firm and leaving absolutely no room for argument.
That wasn’t any surprise. It was no secret that the man was fiercely protective of the team, and any who doubted that very quickly(and sometimes very violently) learned otherwise. It was part of the reason why the kids loved him so much. Their care for him was reciprocated.
“You’re well known too. Important. Probably very skilled. Enough that a capo trusted you to hide his treasure. If our attacker is part of Passione, they probably know all about that.” Joseph continued. “So, they also probably know how protective you are. They know the best way to get you to crack isn’t to torture you, but to torture them. They’re going to take advantage of that weak spot in order to get the money.”
“Now, I’m not saying caring about them makes you weak. Trust me, I’m very familiar with how much wanting to protect what’s yours can give you an edge in a fight,” the boy continued with a shrug, somehow noticing Bucciarati’s sharpened gaze despite not even looking at the man. “If I had to guess, that’s why the attacker has only hidden them instead of…. I don’t know, flaunting their bodies or giving us dismembered limbs or something. Of course, all of this is assuming our attacker isn’t an absolute moron and got rid of his only leverage. He wouldn't be able to take us all in a fight, that much is obvious.”
And Abbaccio stared.
That…..
That was smart.
That was actually really fucking smart.
He’d assumed that Jojo was an idiot. The kid definitely made it seem like he was, with all his jokes and personality and how he wouldn’t shut the fuck up but-
Not only had he given good reasons that the team would still be alive, but because of the way he phrased it it was basically daring their attacker to do otherwise. He’d practically given their enemy the perfect plan on a silver platter, because as much Abbaccio doubted Bucciarati would crack, he did have to admit if he did it would most likely be because the kids were in danger but-
But Jojo bought them time and said it all with the kind of calm objectiveness that one might say the sky was blue.
…..
Abbaccio felt his gaze narrowing.
The newbie was much more dangerous than he’d first judged. He’d thought Jojo was just another 15 year old stray Bucciarati dragged in who was way in over his head but now….
Now he wasn’t sure.
Could his personality be fake? A mask? Something to get them to lower their guard and deem him a non-threat? Was it the work of a Stand, or was it all natural skill? And speaking of which, Abbaccio hadn’t heard so much as a whisper about the kid's Stand. Bucciarati had mentioned something about golden lighting and a brief flash of purple vines, but for him to only get that much even after personally fighting the kid? A fight in which the kid had beaten him???
Abbaccio wouldn’t say it scared him. He refused to be afraid of a fucking 15 year old who was only a bit taller than his shoulders and barely had an ounce of muscle on him.
However, it definitely put him on edge.
“We still need to be cautious.” Bucciarati spoke up, being the first to snap out of the shocked stupor. He slowly crouched down to the kid’s level. “We have no idea what kind of ability our opponent has, or where they are.”
Jojo nodded. “Right. By my guess the attacker is somewhere near the cabin. Fugo went missing when he looked inside, and before that Mista jumped to the other side of it and disappeared when he was out of our line of sight. Narancia was sitting by the cabin behind everyone else, and he went missing when our backs were turned.”
Jojo hummed, slightly squinting. “You said that ‘Stands’ could have almost any ability right?”
Abbaccio raised a brow, but wasn’t too surprised. It only made sense after all. Stand Users were never able to stay apart for long, only in a handful of rare cases, so if the kid had gone his whole life without meeting any that leaned more toward the idea of him obtaining his Stand rather recently.
“Within reason, yes.” He answered, side eyeing the kid.
As….. unsettling as it was, he kinda wanted to see where the kid would go with this.
Somewhere reluctantly, he crouched down too.
“So that means there are two possibilities.” Jojo held up his fingers. “One, this Stand can only be active when no one is looking, or two, it’s not very good at drawn out fights and this guy wouldn’t be able to use it in a proper one on one fight.”
“In both cases, learning what their stand is and what it does would be immensely useful.” Bucciarati nodded with a hum, his eyes sliding over to…… Abbaccio.
Oh.
Oh no.
“With your Stand, Abbaccio,” The man began, clearly noticing the beginning of his glare and leaning over to him until his mouth was right by his ear. “You could defeat the enemy.”
“He can?” Jojo looked at him with wide blue-green eyes, and despite the innocence of the gaze Abbaccio could practically feel it picking him apart.
Nope.
No, definitely not, not happening. He was not revealing his ability to this kid, especially after the analysis he’d just witnessed.
“Who knows.” he responded, pointedly avoiding eye contact.
He heard a small growl from Bucciarati. “Abbaccio. Now is not the time.”
“This is putting my safety at risk too.” He slightly turned his head. “I’m not just about to show my abilities to a newbie I can’t trust. I don’t know why you believe in him so easily, but I won’t.”
Not yet at least. Maybe in a few weeks, maybe a few months he could bring himself to put some trust in the kid. But right now? Not on his life.
It was practically the second rule of Stand Users. Don’t give away your abilities to others you don’t trust.
“We need to figure out the enemy’s ability.” Bucciarati hissed. “Otherwise we’re all as good as dead.”
“That’s what I’m saying.” he cut him off. “How do we know he isn’t working with the enemy? Don’t you think it’s strange that we got a new member the very same day Polpo died?”
Jojo looked at him with a childish pout and glare. “I think you’re being paranoid.”
“And I think you’re a suspicious brat who won’t even tell us his real name!”
And for the briefest of moments Abbaccio could’ve sworn he saw him flinch with an emotion he couldn’t place flickering behind his eyes.
Oh? So he was hiding something then….
But before he could press, it was gone without a trace. The boy scoffed with a roll of his eyes. “It’s not like I could see your Stand anyways, so I really don’t get why you’re getting so worried, old man.”
“I am NOT-”
……
Wait, what was that first part?
“What’s that supposed to mean?” he demanded.
“Well you’ve got white hair and-”
Abbaccio was going to strangle him.
“Not that.” he growled. “What do you mean you wouldn’t be able to see my Stand?”
“Ohhhhh.” Jojo drawled at him, eyes widening with realization. “I thought Bucciarati would’ve told you. Guess it never came up then.”
Now it was Bucciarati’s turn to look confused. His brow furrowed and he gave Jojo a questioning glance. “Tell him what?”
“That I don’t have a Stand?”
…………..
He….
He didn’t what?
“What do you mean you don’t have a Stand!?!” Bucciarati whisper shouted.
“You mean you didn’t know either???” Jojo exclaimed. “I thought it was so obvious! Did you not notice how I clearly couldn’t see your Stand when we were fighting!?!”
“I thought you were just inexperienced!” Bucciarati shot back. “And if you don’t have a Stand then what about the gold lightning! Or the purple vines!?!”
“Or how you predicted what we could say back at the restaurant?” Abbaccio added.
Jojo raised a brow. “I have…. no idea what ‘purple vines’ you’re talking about, but the golden sparks are something completely different. As for the predicting thing…. I just notice things? It’s not that hard, you just have to know what to look for. I’ve always been able to and it’s definitely not a Stand ability.”
“What do you mean it’s something-” Bucciarati suddenly cut himself off, closing his eyes while taking a very deep breath.
And when he opened them, a blank, slightly smiling mask slid into place.
“Jojo.” he began and oh fuck that was his ‘I Am At My Limit And And Ready To Kill Someone But I Need To Be The Responsible One Here’ voice, reserved for only the biggest of fuck ups.
Yep, the kid was dead.
Can’t say Abbaccio was going to mourn him.
It seemed that the kid had at least some self preservation in him because the second he heard his name said in that tone he snapped to attention. In an instant his back straightened, his shoulders went back and he was giving Bucciarati his complete and undivided attention.
“Jojo, I’m going to test something.” Bucciarati continued. If he was surprised by Jojo’s reaction he didn’t let it show.
Jojo simply nodded.
Behind the boy Sticky Finger faded into existence. It was very close, but Abbaccio could tell Bucciarati was taking great care to avoid touching him. Slowly, the Stand’s hand lowered in front of Jojo’s eyes, practically a hair’s breadth away from touching.
Jojo didn’t react to it at all.
Bucciarati held up both hands, three fingers on one and five on the other.
“Can you tell me how many fingers I’m holding up?” the man asked.
“Uhhhhh eight?” the boy answered easily.
……Abbaccio wasn’t sure if this made Jojo less dangerous or much more. On one hand the kid wouldn’t be able to see Stands at all(which long term could become a problem but that was something for later), but on the other that opened the possibility that (depending on what exactly this ‘golden lightning’ thing was) every single thing the kid had done was entirely natural skill.
Bucciarati took another deep breath and Sticky Finger disappeared in an instant.
“We are going to be talking about this extensively when we get out of this, but for now-” he pointedly looked at Abbaccio. “We are going to figure a way out of this and so help me god if you two start arguing then our attacker is going to be the least of your worries.”
……damnit.
A small mischievous grin tugged at Jojo’s face. “So where do we start?”

Joseph had barely made it through the front door before something small catapulted across the hallway and threw itself at his side. A little startled, and mind just a little fuzzy after spending so many hours sifting through paperwork in his real estate office, it took him a couple of seconds for the brunette to register just what exactly was the presence digging into his shirt.
Laughing heartily, he couldn't help but feel affection swelling in his chest. Raising his prosthetic hand carefullly so as not to accidentally get tangled with their hair, he squeezed them into a tight hug that must've knocked the air out of them. At that, they only burrowed their head deeper into his muscular chest, a hum being pulled from the back of their throat as his other hand rested at the back of their neck, gently stroking.
Bright green eyes twinkled playfully as he grinned, "I'm sure as hell not complaining about the attention, but why are you hiding against me like this?"
"Took a nap after work. Had a bad dream about... back then," their voice came out muffled against his ironed shirt, and the cheeky grin slipped into something more sympathetic and tender.
Joseph knew all too well what they were referring too; even he had had his doubts three years ago that he would make it after the volcanic explosion. His absence during the time period he'd been nursed back to health meant that he'd been completely MIA for a long while, and he was sure his beloved had counted him among the dead.
He couldn't begin to imagine just how terrified and heartbroken they must've felt; heaven knows if the roles had been revered he'd have probably wallowed in his misery forever, cradling his wounded heart in his hands and hiding it behind a façade of bravado in front of everyone else---and knowing that they'd been in that position, wondering if he'd ever make it back to them, and eventually surrendering to the fact that he was gone, Joseph wished he could somehow make it up to them with some grandiose display of affection.
Pulling them impossibly close, the only Joestar sent a silent prayer Upstairs for keeping them---somehow---safe and together, before speaking in a much quieter voice than they were used to from him, "What do you say we spend the rest of the day in bed? Maybe make out for a bit? I'm already tired as shit, and I kind of want to make up for having not been there when you woke up."
Nodding almost imperceptibly, they whispered, eyes shut, "That sounds good, yeah. Thanks, JoJo."
Picking them up like they weighed absolutely nothing and trying his best not to jostle them, Joseph kissed their cheek as he carried them away into the bedroom, his rolled-up sleeves helping his muscles flex easier as he crossed the threshold to their bedroom.
"Oh, and by the way."
A questioning hum came in return, before that mischievous smile made its way onto his handsome face once again, "You might want to take a look in the mirror, babe. Your hair is sticking out everywhere. Cute."

BnHA Chapter 236: Mr. Stark I Don’t
Previously on BnHA: We kicked off Year Five Of This Bullshit with another Tomura flashback! Once upon a time there was a boy named Tenko. Little Tenko was very cute and happened to have a real prick of a father who forbid his kids from talking about heroes and punished them severely when they broke that rule. Like, he locked Tenko outside for hours and even fucking hit him when he found out he looked at that picture of Nana. It was super fucked up and very unpleasant to read, and on top of that Horikoshi peppered the entire chapter with hints that the supposedly quirkless Tenko was slowly developing his Decay quirk, so much of the chapter was also spent waiting for that shoe to drop. The chapter ended with a sobbing Tenko hugging his dog Mon-chan (a very good boy) and thinking that he hated everyone, as the scene slowly faded to black. After that we don’t know what happened. Presumably Mon-chan went to live on a farm with lots of other puppies where he could spend the rest of his days in cute doggy bliss. I’m sure Horikoshi will allow me to continue indulging in this theory.
Today on BnHA: Horikoshi doesn’t let me indulge in shit! Horikoshi is all “lol bitch you thought!!” Horikoshi shows us the dead dog!! Horikoshi shows us the scared and sobbing child! Horikoshi shows us the sister! Horikoshi shows us the grandma and grandpa and the mom! Meanwhile poor Kotaro is all, “I suddenly wonder where my whole family has gone,” and goes outside and sees All Of That and is horror-struck. Through a series of terrible but also hilarious coincidences he accidentally smacks Tenko with a big stick, and Tenko suddenly realizes he’d like nothing more than to just STRAIGHT UP!! MURDER HIS DAD!! and so he does. And that’s basically it, guys. That’s my summary of the chapter. I would also like to add that for some reason I ended up fucking loving it in the end, though it was a real roller coaster back and forth until those last few pages. So yeah. Might want to steer clear of me, because I’m sure that’s some kind of red flag there. This motherfucking chapter, guys. I don’t even know.
(All comments are my unspoiled reactions from my initial readthrough of the chapter. I did a quick edit for grammar and clarity immediately afterward, and added one or two ETAs in the process, but aside from that there are no changes.)
Tumblr media
thank you anon but rest assured I’m already filled with a deep and profound dread. so we’re good
oh. heh
Tumblr media
well that’s just. okay. sure. so a whole nother chapter of this. okay yeah that’s great
oh sweet jesus mary joseph oh shit oh fuck oh SHIT
Tumblr media
THAT’S NOT A FARM!! HORIKOSHI!! WE HAD A DEAL! YOU SET ME UP
holy shit!?!? and this is only the start of the chapter oh god. oh god oh god. MR. STARK I DON’T
Tumblr media
no thank you I want to return it. reason: item exactly as described. I don’t know what I was expecting. we knew exactly what was going to happen. but I still -- !!
how is the anime going to show this?? no one even wants to watch the senseless blood and violence for once. does Japan do those warning things where a “the following program includes scenes of graphic violence that may be disturbing to some viewers” screen appears before the thing airs? if not they should probably consider it. maybe change “some” to “all”, because let’s be real
anyway so guys I’m waiting for Horikoshi to email me my free shipping label so I can send this back, but in the meantime let’s continue to read I guess
WOW
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THAT’S A DEAD DOG. THAT DOG IS LYING IN PIECES IN A POOL OF HIS OWN BLOOD, HUFFING HIS LAST HUFFS. HORIKOSHI REALLY DREW THAT. THAT IMAGE WAS BURNED INTO TENKO’S MIND FOR THE REST OF HIS EXISTENCE AND NOW I GET TO LIVE WITH IT AS WELL. WELL THAT’S JUST REALLY FUCKING GREAT. YIPPY SKIPPY
OH JOY
Tumblr media
HANA GO BACK INSIDE, IF HORIKOSHI GRAPHICALLY DRAWS YOU BEING BLOWN INTO CHUNKS BY THIS FUCKING QUIRK I’M FUCKING DONE AND I QUIT. AND I KIND OF NEED TO CONTINUE UNTIL I AT LEAST LEARN BAKUGOU’S FUCKING HERO NAME, SO I’M COUNTING ON YOU HERE OKAY
by the way, this is weird though. because that didn’t look anything like the prior instances where we’ve seen Tomura use his quirk! there was no crumbling apart, no dust ominously drifting away on the breeze. it was more like poor Mon-chan just kind of fell apart into pieces. is this because the quirk is still developing and not yet at full power? or is this more AFO shenanigans in play. it at least explains why it was plausible for their hands to be intact once everything was said and done though
really I’m just trying to talk myself into believing that this didn’t actually happen and is all some grand fucked up psych out and his family is actually fine. I saw this post going around about Tenko’s mole (you know, the one on his chin) not being present in all the scenes last chapter, and the theory was that the scenes where he doesn’t have the mole were not actually real and were implanted by AFO. I personally think this is a reach, but I’m also prepared to 100% subscribe to this theory if and when anything happens to this precious baby girl when I click to the next page you guys. we shall see
okay so Hana’s apologizing because I guess she’s the one that ratted him out to their dad? girl it’s okay you were under a lot of pressure. it’s not like it’s your fault Kotaro flew off the deep end and started beating your brother
anyways but this is currently the least of your worries though oh god. she hasn’t noticed yet, and Tenko’s sobbing and trying to talk to her but his voice isn’t working??
is that because he’s traumatized, or because this is in fact a fake memory? not being able to warn a beloved person of an imminent danger is basic nightmares 101, I’m just saying. I’m actually a bit more convinced than I was just a minute ago
anyway so now she sees the dead dog, and I have a new least favorite panel in the entire series, great
Tumblr media
hello, I hate everything about this. what the actual fuck
now she’s turning to run and I SWEAR TO GOD if Tenko instinctively reaches out to grab her... shit. I fucking...
-- WHAT DID I JUST -- !! !!!
Tumblr media
son of a bitch. fuck. I’m literally frozen in place and having trouble willing myself to scroll down to see the rest of this. like, can we seriously just stop here. fuck!!
shit. I need a minute. holy fucking shit. I want an actual apology from Horikoshi, and an explanation for why he thought his readers apparently lacked the imagination to fill in the rest of the blanks themselves. like, I was perfectly fine with all of this just being Very Much Implied, dude. seriously
fuck me. I’m just gonna do it. power through the rest of the chapter and assess the resulting psychological damage once it’s all over and done with. okay deep breath. we’re going in
Tumblr media
oh honey. oh baby no. oh my god the “crack crack” sound effects again, and the lines of blood appearing oh god
and of course he didn’t realize what was happening at first, didn’t realize it was him. honey it’s not your fault. but you now officially have Murder Rights to All for One, and if anyone else gets to deal the final blow I will fucking sue
hahaha, fuck
Tumblr media
at least he didn’t go into the same level of detail as with the fucking dog. but I’m still calling the police, holy shit
if anything, Tenko’s reaction actually makes this even worse than Mon-chan’s death, though. and you know, also the fact that it was a six-year-old girl. who died terrified and in agony and not knowing why this was happening to her. fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck
somewhere Ito Junji is reading this and wishing he’d come up with this shit. Nakayama Masaaki is taking notes. Stephen King is waking up in a cold sweat thinking to himself that for some reason he really wants to start reading shounen manga all of a sudden
sob now everyone is running outside except for his father. of course. saving the best for last. it’s almost as though someone fucking engineered all of this to make it as psychologically damaging to the kid as possible! but who could possibly be twisted enough to do something like that? oh hey there All for One, you sure look happy. why are you smiling so much. what do you mean, it’s a secret. you son of a bitch
hey do you guys want to see the expression of a mother seeing her youngest child screaming and sobbing and covered in blood and surrounded by the bloodied remains of a dead dog and something else that is hopefully unidentifiable because if not holy shit for real? anyways, do you? you don’t? sure you do. Horikoshi thinks you do, so here it is
Tumblr media
t-minus five seconds before the level of Horrifying escalates yet again! five... four... three...
oh shit??
Tumblr media
did he do that thing again?? disintegrate them without even touching?? or did we just jump-cut to right afterward? because if it’s the latter, you mean to tell me we did that with the mom and grandparents but couldn’t do it with Hana and the dog!? and if it’s the former then that’s really interesting though, because I was under the impression he’d been incapable of that until just a few chapters ago when the grown-up him awakened the ability in the middle of Deika City. maybe it’s something he can only do when under extreme mental duress
oh wait, never mind, I scrolled a bit further down and it seems like his mom is still alive. I guess that was Hana he was reaching out towards there. anyways so here’s his mom’s horrified face again
Tumblr media
actually, wait. before we click to the next page, let me go back to the four panels right above these, because this is actually really interesting and deserves more analysis
Tumblr media
I really like this actually. Horikoshi acknowledging that even though his mother and grandparents were very kind and loving, they were still complicit in his suffering in a way because they knew what was going on, and they let it happen. this is actually huge, and I’m really grateful to Horikoshi for calling attention to it and pointing out how damaging that was. I’m actually very pleasantly surprised to see it acknowledged
but maybe I shouldn’t be, because this is after all something that’s very important to the story’s themes of heroism. my thoughts immediately ran to Horikoshi’s own favorite hero, Spider-Man, and the whole “with great power comes great responsibility” thing. if someone needs help, and you’re in a position where you could do something but you choose to not take action, then you do bear some responsibility for what follows. “when you can do the things that I can, but you don’t, and then the bad things happen, they happen because of you”
just, this is a theme that has always resonated with me, and one of the most important themes of hero stories in general. and obviously I’m not saying Tenko’s mom and grandparents are in any way bad people, or that what happened is their fault, because it’s not! but all the same they could have done something and they didn’t, and if you were to ask me what I think is the most essential, defining aspect of what makes someone a hero, I would say it’s that. the difference between stepping in, and not stepping in. if you were to boil it down to one single point, that would be it. a hero is someone who helps
anyway. so I really like that. maybe I won’t send this chapter back after all
Tumblr media
OR MAYBE I WILL AND NEVER FUCKING MIND!! I DON’T!! FEEL SO GOOD!! MR. STARK!!
holy shit you guys. I have no words. somewhere the person who wrote Mufasa’s death scene is taking notes. the person who wrote Littlefoot’s mom’s death is shook. the person who wrote Bambi’s mom’s death is rubbing their chin and thinking, “honestly mine is still more traumatizing, but I can still respect that”
meanwhile I, a millennial forged in the ashes of all of those childhood-defining fictional tragedies, am going to just suck it up and move on because fuck. my whole life has been preparing me for this day
oh my fucking god
Tumblr media Tumblr media
fuck me why did I laugh. I fucking lost it just now. fucking gallows humor, idk
just. his entire family is being blown to little bits in the backyard, and Kotaro cracks open his fucking door and peers his head out like “hmm I thought I heard something just now. hey, where is everyone. did I miss something.” no you didn’t miss anything Kotaro, go back inside
he looks like a kid who’s not sure if he just heard the ice cream man driving by
sob. “better go investigate”
Tumblr media
look what happened while you were taking your fucking nap, Kotaro. JUST LOOK! your son disintegrated your whole entire family and uprooted a fucking tree somehow. jesus christ
you know, the irony is I bet you that despite all of his hang-ups, he’s probably thinking “okay maybe a hero would come in fucking handy right about now”
oh shit
Tumblr media
“you think this is a fucking joke?!” Horikoshi screams, shoving this page in my face. “you’re just going to sit there and keep making your cute little remarks?? A FAMILY IS DEAD!!” okay jeez I get it fuck
oh no, oh shit for real though I can’t
Tumblr media
he’s so scared and traumatized and now he knows, he knows it was him who did it and he can’t bear it, and even though he hates his dad, he’s still his dad, and he’s terrified and looking for comfort from anyone at this point oh god
and for Kotaro to see his son like this, and the rest of his family dead in such a horrifying way! just!!
and fuck me, because if he reaches out to try and comfort him, if he ends up dying because his better instincts finally take over now of all fucking times; if he tries to help and Tenko knows what’s going to happen when they touch and tries to stop him but can’t...
okay but what
Tumblr media
Tenko’s quirk is really behaving strangely though. like this is ridiculous. at this rate he’s gonna take the whole house down with him
also there’s no way all of the neighbors just sat by all la dee da and didn’t go to investigate afterwards. 100% AFO had a hand in all this. shit
now also feels like a good time to point out, before we wrap this all up, that with Kotaro being the only one still alive now, there is no one around to shout “Tenko, no...!” when that hand is reaching out to his forehead. so I’m very curious to see how Horikoshi plays this out, because now more than ever I’m suspecting that the altered memory theory is really true
(ETA: well. shit.)
anyway, so now what looks like a tree pruner is just randomly falling into Kotaro’s hands, for some reason. just like we all expected
Tumblr media
of all the ways I imagined this actually playing out, this was not one of them
hmm, interesting
Tumblr media
so did he disintegrate the pruner and then get pissed at his dad thinking he was trying to hurt him again? and then instinct just took over? guess we’re about to see
oh SHIT!!!
Tumblr media
shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
just, imagine like another 7 paragraphs of me just typing out “shit” over and over again. I don’t feel like actually doing it, but that’s basically an accurate summation of my thought process right now
I bet even AFO wasn’t expecting that. I picture him whistling softly from his hiding place nearby, watching all of this go down and making that excited Andy Dwyer face to nobody in particular
holy fucking shit, holy hell
Tumblr media
guys I just decided this is actually my favorite villain origin story of all time. just like that. holy shit. this page though
okay you know what, let me just finish this up, and then I’ll try to sort out all of my messed up feelings. one more page to go I think. probably his hair turning white
Tumblr media
why didn’t his hair turn white. Horikoshi you’re such a fucking troll
(ETA: or did it start to change though?? it’s really hard to tell with the shading on this page tbh. but it does seem to be lighter than his shirt, and closer to the shade of his pants instead. but I can’t tell if that’s just due to the lighting here or not. anyways.)
anyways, wow. so that’s the end. let me just sit down here for a moment and try to process this
that page, though. that mental break. the idea of him being so overwhelmed by the pain and trauma of what just happened that when his dad shows up and tries (from his perspective) to hurt him again, his mind just goes !! and snaps and goes “you know what, this is better, let’s just reframe all this shit to make it a good thing so that we can cope, because to hell with that. big fat nope to the alternative, right there! yeah no thanks we are not going to do that”
and him realizing that he finally has the power to stand up to his father and stop him from hurting him. and probably a part of him is also irrationally blaming his dad for being the reason this all happened, because it’s much easier to assign blame to something tangible here, rather than it all being a freak tragic accident that no one could have prevented. (or worse, his own fault. which it isn’t, but I’m sure he subconsciously blames himself regardless, so)
and even better if the person to blame is someone you already hated. so yes, that’s much better, let’s just do that
and that whole “somewhere deep in my heart” thing, I don’t buy that for a second to be honest. but I do believe that he believes that. that for his own self-preservation he desperately latched on to this idea and convinced himself that he’d wanted this all along. that it felt good. fine, then, I’ll become a monster to save myself
I keep going back to look at his face, though. and just. holy shit. if you’d told me a week ago or even five minutes ago that Horikoshi would write out the entire thing, all of it, in all of its sickeningly detailed glory, that he would just say “fuck it” and go all out, and that I would go from “take it back” to “okay I’ll allow it” to “you can pry this incredibly fucked up chapter out of my cold dead hands” in the span of three pages, I would have thought you were insane. and yet here we are. and it is insane. and I’m fairly disturbed by my own heel-turn here actually, but I can’t deny it though
just, shit. that was so good. I’m blown away by how good that was. Deku, stop looking at me like that
Tumblr media
you know what, you don’t get to judge me, kid, okay. shut up
anyway guys, so that was one hell of a ride. I learned some things about myself, like that I will follow this maniac of a mangaka into much deeper and more fucked up chasms than I ever expected. and Tomura learned some things about himself, and I have a lot of Concerns about those things, but I guess that’ll just have to wait until next week! all the best until then, everyone

Far Cry: New Dawn – Hope County got a Nuclear Makeover
Ubisoft’s latest installment for the Far Cry franchise has been released and been out for a couple of days now. The game is a direct sequel after the last game in the franchise, which is beloved among many fans.
So let’s get into it. Warning: spoilers ahead
The events of Far Cry: New Dawn takes place 17 years after the events of the last game and features some of Far Cry 5’s cast and introducing new as well. One of these new characters is none other than Carmina Rye, the daughter of Nick and Kim Rye who was only briefly seen as a baby in FC5. Carmina and her mother play a big part in the storyline of New Dawn.
The game starts with a cinematic introduction, where Carmina tells us, the player, her life story. How she was born on the day of The Collapse, how she lived in the bunker for 6 years before she ever saw the sun and why she came to Thomas Rush for his help. As she wraps up her story, the screen fades to black and we hear the train she is on crash, followed by screams and chaos.
And then the game begins. We meet the hero of the story, ambiguously called The Captain and their boss, another key-character, Thomas Rush. After a quick-paced running sequence, we also meet our main antagonists, twin sisters Mickey and Lou, the terrifying leaders of The Highwaymen.
After another cutscene, we officially enter the beauty that is Far Cry: New Dawn.
I played and finished the game in two days, I got a little bit earlier access to considering I live in Europe and I’m on spring break. So I could stay up until 4 a.m. in the morning after its release around midnight.
So yeah, the game is not long. The storyline is much, much shorter than its predecessor, FC5. As is the map. The game mechanics are practically the same, aside from the new level system that is more seen in RPG games à la Borderlands.
Arguably, it is retailed at 40 euros compared to the 60 euros you have to pay for FC5. Although, this might be the broke student in me talking, is still quite a lot.
But let’s talk about something positive, the graphics are breathtaking. The scenery is so bright and gorgeous, despite it being a post-nuclear setting where it’s popular to see dead vegetation and terrifying creatures roaming about. But no, New Dawn features a brightly colored world, with beautiful animals roaming the county.
The moment I saw and heard Carmina, I was in love with her character. And considering she is the baby you, as the deputy, saw and became a godparent in FC5. Her character design is awesome, I personally love how blue her eyes are. I pretty much felt very protective over her in-game, and wouldn’t let her die on my watch, which usually resulted in my own death as well.
Another character I fell in love with was Thomas Rush. This is a bit more on the superficial side but I don’t care, he’s good-looking. The relationship between him and the captain isn’t much explained but I could feel they’ve known and trust each other. And I was very upset when Lou abruptly killed him.
Speaking about being upset. There were moments in the game, especially when first time playing it, where I felt so sad. Seeing all these familiar places and hearing about familiar people from the previous game, reading the notes (Thanks for the feels, Tracey). Especially seeing Boomer’s grave, and the mentions of Peaches and Cheeseburger, hit me hard. Yeah, I care for the FFH a bit more than the GFH, sorry Jess and Addie… (Poor Grace though, losing her eyesight like that…)
But there were moments that put a smile on my face, like “reuniting” with Sharky and Hurk, who now has a baby with a new GFH, Gina Guerra. The Rye family reunion pulled on my heart-strings (of joy!) as well.
Now, let’s talk dear ol’ Joe. He’s still kicking, albeit missing from the first arc of the New Eden storyline. I have mixed feelings about Joseph, I never really cared that much about him in FC5 (John, however, won me over fast) and I guess you can say he’s a broken old man at this point, exiling himself from his family in New Eden.
He also has a son now, Ethan. It’s not fully clear if Joseph is his real father or considering the evidence we got. Ethan is…complicated. As a character, he might have had potential. But alas, he is poorly written and comes over as an annoying brat who throws tantrums à la Kylo Ren style. I don’t hate him, I even felt sorry for the guy at some points. But yeah, I have a feeling his character is an afterthought, as well with the rest of the ending regarding Joseph.
So now, about the ending… Like I just mentioned, it felt like an afterthought. A loose end they needed to wrap up, considering Joseph was the Big Bad in FC5. In my opinion, they should’ve ended it after the boss fight with Mickey and Lou. On another note, I like the mercy the player can show in ending. To have the choice to spare Mickey and Joseph.
In my gameplay, I killed Joseph, which I considered a mercy kill. I accidentally spared Mickey, I didn’t know she would live if I left, I assumed she would bleed to death if you walked away.
Anyway, I think it’s time to wrap up the review. I started off how I was taught, but it got personal and I startled rambling on. This review is a bit of roller-coaster, oops.
PRO’s
Amazing scenery, absolutely stunning and a fresh take on a post-nuclear apocalypse
Loveable new characters (Although I have my problems with Ethan)
It’s a lot of fun
Homestead building and seeing the cutscenes for it
CON’s
Short story
A bit pricey
Limited Map compared to FC5
Grinding for ethanol and materials gets tiring fast.
So yeah, I might have forgotten some points and If you’d like to talk to me about the game hit me up and I’ll give you my discord.
