to be completely honest, I don't want macdennis in this finale at all. i want den's plot to stay his own. i want the gang to understand just how much they rely on dennis, and how the pressure is finally wearing him down. dennis' inability to escape these high expectations from all of them. of the responsibility that he hates so much. this has been a part of his plotlines for years, and now he can't even take a day trip to the beach without the gang calling him for dumb shit. he's expected to be there to help the gang whenever they need him, but will they be there to help him?

WIP (on a) Wednesday!

I've been tagged by numerous people since the last time I participated in this, but most recently @inafieldofdaisies and @cassietrn. Thank you friends for continuing to tag me! Trying to get back into it all.

Going to go ahead and post just a tiny bit of Johnny's first chapter, completely unedited and not nearly anywhere ready to go.

"Joseph, what's hap—"

"Not now, John." Joseph's fingers clenched around John's shoulder, sending shivers down his spine. A knot of anxiety snaked through him, a serpent of apprehension coiling in his gut as he tried to speak, but Joseph's grip intensified, effectively silencing him. The air felt heavy with unspoken dread.

His eyes darted to the barn as Jacob emerged, the flicker of flames dancing through the open door. A peculiar unease settled in John’s chest. He tried to take a step toward Jacob, but Joseph's already vice-like hold on his shoulder got harder, John biting back a cry.

As Jacob approached the stable, a gas can in hand, an unsettling sensation gripped John's chest. The crackling of the fire from the barn reached his ears, accompanied by the low rumbles of something that seemed to echo the turmoil within him. Each muffled sound intensified the pounding of his heart, but this time, beneath the anxiety, anticipation wove through him.

The commotion within the stable heightened and John's pulse quickened. The atmosphere shifted, though not entirely for the worse. It was as if the flames carried an unexpected promise, casting shadows that danced with a strange sense of relief. The eldest brother reappeared, an axe handle clutched in his hand, and John's anxiety morphed again, into interest and curiosity.
