About JK's JM Tattoos, Again

So I had this whole post done awhile back about how OH LOOK KOOKIE TOUCHED UP HIS JM and I'm pretty sure I blogged it, it's around here somewhere because the J and M were darker at the Grammys.

And by last weekend's music shows they seemed even darker. Like a whole millimeter thicker almost and definitely more black. None More Black by Spinal Tap black. I was probably seeing things, right, but whatever he had done to them between just before he got COVID and now was a pretty big touchup job. Or two. To just those letters.

And my cool blogger moot @shellbells-things posted about it just the other day and also @ffjj5 reblogged that post and added to it and I tried three times to add my own stuff and ... Tumblr ate it. And it remained there half-eaten, only partly posted with none of my edits and I disappeared it on accident.

But JeiKei being ever a gentleman showed up on today to prove three things: BTS is not disbanding, for one thing, but also and importantly, the rumors of his mattresses were greatly exaggerated, look at his CLEAN ASS KITCHEN THANK YOU and

That is some serious emphasizing of the JM on his hand.

So NEENER NEENER I say, to those who think the JM means literally anything OTHER than Jimin. BOO TO THOSE WHO DOUBTED HIM.

I've said it before - several times, even - but THAT JM MEANS JIMIN AND JIMIN ONLY. He tries very hard not to bisect the J and the M on his hand - he does not deliberately wear rings between the two unless it is absolutely FOR WORK and even then it is rare.

Whenever possible, he will emphasize the JM either by not wearing a ring on that finger at all, or by wearing some absolute monstrosity aligned with the top of the J so you CAN'T MISS IT. (And it's uncomfy to wear and maintain placement on a ring that high. Try it. See if you can keep it in one spot. He does, routinely.)

This one I have to note because at first it made me go "huh" but then I realized it was really just too big to not cover the J most of the way, and yet it's still not between the two. The rare exception that proves the rule, I think. And my guess is that it was soon after the Proof shots were taken that the ink got darker.

And his retouching the JM and consistency of ring placement tells me that Jeon Jungkook is in this Jimin shit for life. He's not going anywhere. They are together in all the ways that work for and matter to them.

What anyone else thinks about that is none of their concern.

When COWAY's Editors Go Oops

Well this happened:

It's pretty right? Regardless of your thoughts on Boba Jimin or mullets, the guys look very, very pretty. As per usual. As long as you don't enlarge a thing.

WELL I SEE IT'S TIME TO TALK TATTOOS AGAIN

I just adore Black&White KM, don't you? Honestly, never yells at me no matter how often I steal their pics, they give out freebies at concerts, they're respectful -- if you're gonna make a living off photographing famous people, do it like they do. Honestly. So they're in Qatar doing their whole job and hoes losing their shit all over the internet, apparently, all because a certain JM is darker. STILL.

This is not a brand new development.

And completely unedited, unretouched, the JM was darker enough then that I did a whole post about it.

I MEAN DAMN have we not gone over this, like, several times? (In case you're new to this house elf situation we have here, yes. YES WE HAVE.) We have talked about Jungkook's tattoos at GREAT LENGTH. Well, I have, as far back as a while ago, most recently along about here but also here and here and here and several other places. There is zero tag organization in this house, I don't know what else to tell you.

Anywho Jungkook's tats do not, as nearly as I can tell, mean this:

Because, like the nice graphic above says that I just edited, THIS IS FAN-MADE BULLSHIT. I dunno who made it but I suspect the addition of the J upset some folk enough to need to make JeiKei's motivation anything OTHER than Jimin. Because, as we know, he started out with his ink like this:

Yes, that is a pic someone ripped off. I don't like using it. But it's what we have, and it's years later, and it's been out there for a long time, don't shoot. But I have expounded more than once on why it makes NO SENSE to GO BACK LATER to add one letter to a near-complete hand piece. It doesn't. And that A is not, never has been, a V. In Korea you can go literally anywhere and see Samsung logos, Shilla hotel logos, and of course Jimin's dad's cafe' all using that stylized A with no crossbar.

And I think it's pretty clear what JK thinks the JM means. It means Jimin. Ji Min. JM. DUH. And just like his "rather be dead than cool / make hay while the sun shines" crossword ON HIS ARM, he has a crossword on his hand. A very obvious crossword. Who he loves is written for all of us to see: ARMY, and JM. And lest I forget about that crown:

It's THE SAME CROWN. Wanna go one better but likely utter fanfiction, you could even go heart-arrow-crown like so: 💜 > 👑... ... and make that story work. It actually makes more sense than one J for four people and four letters for three. But we're not here for that. Occam's Razor tells us that the simplest explanation is usually the correct one, and the simplest explanation is the one that's got bitches tearing their hair out. Because THEY KNOW. They KNOW that JM means Jimin, and they HATE IT. (And so what, to quote JeiKei directly. We're gonna talk about fan hate today, too, just... not in this post).

MEANWHILE JUNGKOOK is always showing us his hand, too, have you noticed? Ever since he got the tattoos, but I think more in the last year. It's gotten really pronounced since the PTD dates.

Jeon Jungkook does what Jeon Jungkook wants, and what he wants is for us to pick up what he's been throwing down since, oh, FOREVER but even more recently. Like, it's NOTICEABLE, the way he gets that tattoo in frame at every opportunity. I'll run out of image space before he runs out of ways to show us his touched-up hand.

Yeah. I think the fanmade bullshit has been exposed for what it is. Some of us have known it all along, but even if you're baby Army and you accidentally got stuck watching a lot of comic sans rainbow font youtube garbage (or got up on the wrong side of stan twt), there's no shame in that. Fun With Fan Art ft. X, Hobi and JeiKei

... and our dear @lauvamp of course, she of the insanely lovely prints. I said I was gonna post about it and so I am, I guess, don't shoot me. The prints in question:

But what had HAPPENED was that right around the whole JITB party, when I was on an unhealthy amount of various medications I... ordered a metric ton of fan art from LAU. It's beautifully done, I adored the color work, and she was very patient with my sick, medicated ass while I hit buttons and then forgot I'd hit them. Repeatedly. I finally got the pieces ordered and they arrived and I was SO HAPPY. I had to show them off. DAYS before I even posted them on this blog I was raving at X about them and he wanted to see them so I sent over some shots - basically the ones I posted. X was impressed but was not the only one. He showed the pics to one Jung Hoseok. X fancies himself something of a visual artist, I suppose, and he decided he'd just show off the pics at a thing he was at with some people he was with shortly thereafter. X is a bit of a flamboyantly loud personality, not unlike if Hobi and Jimin had a baby - same "happy outside dark brooding inside" type of vibe, and they enjoy each other's company as nearly as I can tell. NOT THAT HE TELLS ME SHIT but that's just how it looks from here. So anyway X got all super-secret-handshaky and asked me for prints. Said something about how Hobi and Jungkook would like to have them. Which: I Fed Exed a bitch some prints because what was I supposed to do? Tell one-degree-from-3J NO? I got permission from LAU of course, like one does, and then I Fed Exed 'em.

Within 36 hours X had prints in hand. I may have sent him the largest available size of the tattoo piece. At no time did I say "see that they get them" or anything like that. I sent prints to X to do with as he liked. HE GAVE THEM AWAY. He gave both of them away. Hobi got a Hobi and ... JeiKei got a very pretty tattooed hug. If it matters X had planned on giving that piece to Jimin at first but Jimin wasn't there and Jungkook was and X decided it was gonna end up in the same place anyway - some of the members apparently keep special boxes and albums specifically for fan made letters and art and such. And so... yeah. That happened. I have been told that Hobi LOVED both pieces and JK was particularly pleased with the hug piece and admired the accuracy of the tattoos. I have not heard what Jimin thought but we now know (thanks, Weverse Live) that he does look at fan art from time to time. It was really cool for me to hear that my favorite fan artist might have a new fan or two, or three. That's all it was. Which: okay I spilled on it, Lau, don't kill me :)

I'm Still On That Rolling Stone Shoot

Because sometimes, closets suck no matter how golden they are.

I loved @kanmom51 's post about this shoot last night and reposted it here but I COULD NOT STOP THINKING SO HERE WE ARE.

The photoshoot, in case you're a baby ARMY or missed it, was for BTS' Rolling Stone cover last year and the actual shot they were working on was from this set:

And we got the right side of the above video first. Cute lil jikook just jikooking, no big deal. I could be wrong, but I think the video above was taken between shots that were meant to be more than the single pic on the couch above - and WE DON'T HAVE OTHER STILLS THAT I CAN FIND from this part of the shoot. If you have other published ones, hit me with 'em. I want the full set. Because now Memories 2021 has been released online and arrived at a mailbox or two and Peaches got to work (wisely not translating a damn thing this year, GOOD FOR HER) and THIS HAPPENED

Kids, this is not a gay-panicky little Koo like we have seen in years past. This man has been warned to move his tattooed, ring-finger-bared hand, out of frame or at least out of view. AND HE IS PISSED OFF.

And I took screen shots. Hi, Hobi in the blue shirt! Hey, Taehyung totally off camera on the couch!

Everything was fine until that second, when someone - maybe Jimin, but possibly off-camera - told Koo to change position, I think. He was literally JUST TALKING and ...

"...oh here we go with the homophobic bullshit AGAIN..." he seems to be thinking.

Say what you want about Jeon Jungkook but he usually does what Jeon Jungkook wants, goddammit, unless or until his job or his man puts on the brakes.

He cannot believe the audacity. Tell a grown ass free human to unhand his own spouse, what kind of heinous fuckery is this? He no longer wants to even LIVE IN THIS UNFAIR WORLD /yoongi AND HE IS DISPLEASED. Not scared. Not "oopsie". This is Rage Against The Homophobia Machine Koo and we have seen it before, albeit usually a bit more defiant and less "oh FML I hate my job today".

So he moves his hand. As directed. But he is NOT happy about it and he does not care who knows. Now, remember, this is a very short clip. Five seconds. So what I am doing here is essentially expression and movement analysis and what you want to do, as soon as you can, is WATCH ORIGINAL CONTENT FOR TRUTH AND CONTEXT. Got it? We do that in this house because we are not insane shippers who have to make up things. As soon as the code hits my mailbox I will publish the entire segment so we can all see it together. Until then, this is what we have.

Now, Jimin is also annoyed, make no mistake. But he has two advantages here that JeiKei does not. One is camera angle - Jimin has a 90-degree angle to play with and it turns into a near 140 away from the camera. I think he went that way because of 2) his facial control. Which even he was losing. Normally Jimin's face never changes. Major reactions during actual posed shoots are unusual for him, but look at their posture. AND LOOK AT JEIKEI'S FACE.

Jiminie's gotta be feeling the tension from Jungkook. He is not unaware that his man is MAD. I mean, it's fast, but I promise you, whoever is behind those cameras is well aware. We got the pout. We have a full on side eye. We have malicious compliance.

And we have the gayest eye roll I have seen in a minute, as he flips that hand SO WE STILL SEE THE TATTOOS.

Jimin obliges by adjusting, but Jungkook is a professional model as well as a professional everything else. Nobody in BTS is ignorant of light, angle or pose in a shoot. They all know exactly what to do to get the shot they want. But they are also human. Not robots, not objects, not pretty chess pieces on a board. They're men. And two of those men have had just about enough of being told how much they can show. One of them in particular, in this moment, is OVER THIS CLOSETED SHIT. Praise Jesus for a Hobi knee, the man needs a headrest.

I don't know when, or if, they'll ever be able to come out, entirely. But this is one time when the closet walls appear to be feeling just a little too tight.

Hi anon 👋🏼 Yes. Here's Koo with his tiger tattoo. Note the placement, just above the "Please love me" with his birth flower, the tiger lily.

Koo covered the tiger with a piece we have not seen clearly yet. It appears to be an eclipse - a sun covered by the moon. If that is true then it's a lovely companion piece to Jimin's moon tattoo - but we don't know yet. Could be Rock Bison, his art piece, or something else entirely. We need HD. He had some other work done as well. Jungkook actually had the new work done in Korea, before coming to the US - probably at Blind Tattoo, his current favorite place to get inked. How do we know this? Because he was on quarantine within a day of his arrival and we saw this on his recent VLive:

And then we got a better view AND OMG THE COLOR WORK ON HIS TIGER LILY SO PRETTY, KOO Oh wait. What's that where the tiger used to be?

The tiger tattoo that Taekookers SWORE UP AND DOWN was a coded love sign for Taehyung? GONE. It was never that, but one does wonder if he covered it because he was tired of the speculation. The tiger is an important part of Korean history and culture and I think he would not have covered it unless he had reason to do so. Jungkook is not a man who does things without thinking. And his tattoos are personal and important to him. Man isn't out here putting random shit on his skin. So eclipse, Rock Bison, sunflower or other, that new piece must be very important for him to cover his tiger with it. Koo also maybe had his hand touched up. Not all of his hand - just the J+M and possibly the crown:

What do K side think of JK'S JM tattoo? Does Kevin knows about it ?

I don't know what KARMY thinks about anything. I don't hang out on K-ARMY chat rooms or follow them around asking their opinion. My Korean isn't good enough to be in there and it's not my space.

What I do is ask the people I know personally and trust - and there are exactly two of those people in Seoul. So all I can tell you is what I think and what they think. And all three of us think it's crazy that Jungkook did this

(Notice the distinct lack of a J there. The crown appears to be there on his index finger. The J IS NOT THERE)

...and then went back later to do this

seriously all he added were three plus signs and a J. TWO MINUTES IN THE CHAIR KIDS.

...and that I-ARMYs are still making up and presenting as truth a non-Jimin explanation. Here's why. In Korea it is technically illegal to do tattoos without being a medical doctor. You cannot get a business license or do business as a tattoo artist without a medical LICENSE. Kev does not personally have any tattoos. But X says that tattoo artists in Korea INSIST on doing as much work in one session as the client can handle. Because each session could cost them a hefty fine or the lease on their place of business, if caught. SO WHY THE HELL would any tattoo artist just be like "OH you wanna do EVERYTHING BUT THE J and come back later for TWO MINUTES, sure, that makes total sense, let's do that". NO. It doesn't work like that. It isn't logical to have two differently healing parts of one finger, for one thing - the areas are an inch apart or so at most. It also makes no sense to not finish a simple design in one session. UNLESS HE DIDN'T DECIDE TO ADD THE J UNTIL LATER. Maybe he had to, I dunno, TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT IT FIRST? Someone like.... Jimin? Or maybe he wasn't totally sure he was ready for a permanent JM on his ring finger? Had to give it some thought? Or maybe hadn't thought about it at all until after he did the ARMY and then he went "hey, I could just add a J right here next time I'm in there".... Any of those explanations, to my Seoul guys and to me, makes perfect sense. Especially when you realize he almost NEVER separates the J and the M. He'll cover up the crown if he has to but he does not put anything between J+M. I've never seen him do it. Even if the ring is sliding it does not get below that J before he gets it adjusted AND THERE IS A REASON FOR THAT.

The way Kev put it to me is "You don't even have to be Korean to see that, if you just think about it for five minutes. The problem is that it makes people's internalized homophobia go so crazy that they can't let themselves be logical". And that's a Those People Problem, not a Jungkook problem.

I just read your post about the timing of jk's hand tattoos and now I'm even more confused. I didn't realise the j was added later. I was kind of excited at that because of its place on the ring finger, but doesn't the j being added later actually support a taekook argument? Because that a is not fully an a, it is a v. So it's like only after he got a tattoo with 'hidden' v did he realise that if he added the j, it would include all of their names. Do you know what I mean?

Nope. I don't think you're confused. I think you just don't like the answer.

Because it's clearly an A. VRMY isn't a word. Neither is LRMY, which is actually closer given that an upside down V is a Greek Lambda symbol:

That's a Lambda, kids. Google it. It is absolutely in no way shape or form a V. But it could very easily be a stylistic choice for an A, like this:

You're not really gonna tell me that those logos are for SVMSUNG and MVGNVTE, right? No. Because it's very obviously a stylistic font choice. What i wanted to add is what an Army noticed about the crown, not sure about this but she pointed out how it didn't have much of an explanation besides the fact that Jimin's earbuds are the only ones having a crown on them.
