Back in the 2000s I remember there being a couple Chick tracts edited to be about how embarrassing goths were. I can probably dig them up, but I'm sure they're not as funny as they were in 2004. Also, I feel like I've stepped into some sort of alternate universe where no one remembers "scene" being used for any alt subculture, but kind of in an ironic way, and this is clearly a relic from whatever universe I came from where if you said "you're so scene" to your friend in 2002 it meant they were being stereotypically goth. Or sometimes too indie or emo, depending on the friend.

guys if you have any interest in Jack Chick and like podcasts, American Hysteria (one of my faves) just did a really great 3 part series on his life and upbringing that I highly highly recommend. trigger warning obviously for literally anything that can possibly trigger someone, but I was literally tearing up for Jack at one point while the host was talking about his childhood, something I would've previously assumed was physically impossible.

i can do a quick summary if anyone's interested but if you have the time, definitely check out the podcast. they do a lot of historical moral panic stuff that often segues into American Christian fundamentalism.

literally baffled by the insinuation by Chick that Second Temple Judaism was somehow a false religion

as if the Holy Family were not pious Jews...and as if the great majority of the Bible is not made up of constant affirmations of the truth and central importance of Jewish religion and all the trappings of the Temple...

regardless the New Testament actually does explicitly define the role and function of the new priesthood, because the first priests were of course the Apostles, and the Apostles went on and ordained others:
