FOM BLOG: GILLINGHAM 2-2 NORTHAMPTON TOWN

My Thoughts On Gillingham 2-2 Northampton Town…….

After Gillingham’s impressive 1-0 away win against Peterborough United at London Road On Tuesday Night, I was hoping that Gillingham can build on that impressive 1-0 win against Peterborough United by winning against relegation threatened Northampton Town At Priestfield Stadium on Saturday The 24th Of April 2021, There were three main reasons as to why I was hoping that Gillingham would win against Northampton Town ONE: Three points for The Gills would keep Gillingham’s “very very” slim playoff hopes alive for another week TWO: I was hoping that Gillingham can pick up back to back home wins in our final two home matches of the season against Northampton Town and Plymouth Argyle so that Gillingham would end The 2020 / 2021 Season with a very impressive home record at Priestfield Stadium AND THREE: Gillingham could still beat Justin Edinburgh’s points tally of sixty nine points, which Gillingham picked up in The 2015 / 2016 Season if Gillingham were to win the final three matches of the season.

And Gillingham Lined Up As Follows For Gillingham V Northampton Town,,,,,, Jack Bonham, Ryan Jackson, Robbie Cundy, Jack Tucker, Connor Ogilvie, Stuart O’Keefe, Kyle Dempsey, Alex MacDonald, Olly Lee, Vadaine Oliver, Dominic Samuel Substitutes: Sacha Bastien (GK), Robbie McKenzie, Tom O’Connor, Henry Woods, Tyreke Johnson, Jordan Graham and Gerald Sithole - John Akinde isn’t named in the match-day squad and that is a real shame because John Akinde put in a exceptional performance up-front for Gillingham against Peterborough United when Gillingham won 1-0 at London Road, John Akinde wasn’t included because of illness and Jordan Graham had just about recovered from illness himself to be named on the bench, Vadaine Oliver has recovered from his slight knock to start for Gillingham against his former club, And Dominic Samuel makes his first start for Gillingham since recovering from his long injury layoff.

Gillingham have to win and hope for results from elsewhere to go in our favour to give ourselves the best possible chance of sneaking into the playoff places in League One, and likewise, Northampton Town have to win and hope for results to go in there favour for Northampton Town to stand any chance of avoiding an instant relegation return to League Two, With both teams needing to win for different reasons, this should be a very end to end match, And I often find that when the match is more open, Gillingham tend to perform better, rather then trying to break the opposition down when teams are set up defensively to try and earn themselves a point.

And not only would Gillingham V Northampton Town be more of a end to end match, the importance of this match for both football clubs for entirely different reasons would have seen a very decent attendance inside Priestfield Stadium, And having not been to any of the matches live inside Priestfield Stadium or supporters being able to go to a away game, the atmosphere’s either home or away could have made more of a difference as the supporters would been the twelfth man, and the stats for this season show that the lack of home supporters have seen football clubs across all the divisions in The English Game record fewer home wins then in previous season’s, But I am hoping that Gillingham can make it back to back home league wins against Northampton Town and Plymouth Argyle, And Gillingham can end this season on a high note with back to back home wins at Priestfield Stadium - COME ON THE GILLS!!!!!!!

FIRST HALF:

Four Minutes Into The Match, And Gillingham create the first goal-scoring opportunity, Gillingham have a throw on down The Gordon Road Stand Side Of The Pitch In Gillingham’s Half, And From The Resulting Throw On, Connor Ogilvie throws the ball long down the line and Vadaine Oliver wins the aerial challenge to flick the ball on towards Dominic Samuel inside Northampton Town’s Penalty Area, And Dominic Samuel manages to retain possession of the ball before looking around for passing options, And Dominic Samuel passed the ball out-wide towards Alex MacDonald, And Alex MacDonald takes a touch to control the ball before whipping in a dangerous in-swinging cross, and Fraser Horsfall manages to header the ball clear and away from danger, and Stuart O’Keefe wins the first aerial challenge to header the ball forwards and Peter Kioso headers the ball up towards the halfway line for the visitor’s and Connor Ogilvie wins the next aerial challenge to header the ball sideways towards Ryan Jackson, And Ryan Jackson manages to header the ball down the line towards Kyle Dempsey, But Shaun McWilliams manages to get to the ball first and keep the ball in play by back-healing the ball towards Sam Hoskins, And Sam Hoskins takes plenty of touches in possession of the ball before playing a short pass forwards towards Shaun McWilliams, And Shaun McWilliams gets the ball under control before trying to pick out Peter Kioso with a cross-field cross-pass, And Connor Ogilvie manages to nip in there to intercept the ball, And Connor Ogilvie continue’s his run forwards before passing the ball inside to Dominic Samuel in a central position on the pitch, And Dominic Samuel does brilliantly to retain possession of the ball despite being closely marked by Shaun McWilliams, And Dominic Samuel turns away from The Northampton Town Midfielder and passes the ball out-wide to Connor Ogilvie down the left side of the pitch in Northampton Town’s Final Third, And Connor Ogilvie gets the ball under control before firing in a dangerous low cross across the face of goal, and Lloyd Jones has sliced his clearance straight into Olly Lee’s Path, And Olly Lee gets the ball under control before seeing his shot towards goal blocked by Lloyd Jones and Peter Kioso passes the ball forwards to Bryn Morris and Northampton Town survive.

It’s a very brave and courageous block from Lloyd Jones after slicing his initial clearance into Olly Lee’s Path, But should Gillingham have been awarded a penalty kick because the contentious decision was whether Lloyd Jones had blocked the ball with his arm ??? I know I was appealing for a penalty kick to Gillingham at the time and Olly Lee was appalling for Gillingham to be awarded a penalty kick, But Referee Carl Brook didn’t look like for a moment he was going to point to the penalty spot, and despite the no penalty kick decision, Gillingham had made an encouraging start to the match so far.

And Five Minutes Into The Match, I thought the decision to penalise Robbie Cundy for his challenge on Mickel Miller was a soft decision, And it is from this free kick where Northampton Town should have opened the scoring, Joseph Mills has curled the ball over the wall and Joseph Mills curling free kick goes just wide of the far right post and Jack Bonham had scrambled across his goal-line to cover the right side of the goal, and that free kick from Joseph Mills is a reminder that Northampton Town are going to create meaningful goal-scoring opportunities, We can talk about Olly Lee’s shot towards goal being blocked by Lloyd Jones and should Gillingham have been awarded a penalty kick, but complaining about the penalty decision would have meant nothing if Joseph Mills had opened the scoring for Northampton Town from that free kick.

Eight Minutes Into The Match, And Gillingham have been awarded a throw on, and it is from this throw where Gillingham almost took the lead, Gillingham have a throw on down The Gordon Road Stand Side Of The Pitch In Gillingham’s Defensive Final Third, And From The Resulting Throw On, Connor Ogilvie hurls the ball long down the line towards the halfway line and Shaun McWilliams wins the aerial challenge up against Vadaine Oliver and Alex MacDonald’s long pass down the line is headed inside centrally by Shaun McWilliams and Stuart O’Keefe wins the fifty / fifty challenge up against Ryan Watson, And Stuart O’Keefe evades the attempted challenge from Sam Hoskins before passing the ball square to Ryan Jackson, And Ryan Jackson passes the ball back inside to Stuart O’Keefe, And Stuart O’Keefe spends too long in possession of the ball and this enables Ryan Watson to intercept the ball, But Ryan Jackson gets to the ricochet first and runs down the right flank in possession of the ball, And Ryan Jackson passes the ball out-wide to Kyle Dempsey, And Kyle Dempsey takes a touch to control the ball before threading a through-ball through to Olly Lee down the right side of the pitch in Northampton Town’s Final Third, and Olly Lee just about manages to keep the ball in play before pulling the ball back towards Alex MacDonald, and Alex MacDonald’s first time shot towards goal is brilliantly blocked by Lloyd Jones and the ricochet off The Northampton Town Defender deflects the ball out of play for A Gillingham Corner Kick.

And From The Resulting Corner Kick, Gillingham had the chance to open the scoring, Olly Lee whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross towards the far post and Jonathan Mitchell at full stretch has to punch the ball out of play for another Gillingham Corner Kick because Jack Tucker was unmarked at the far post, And from the second corner kick, Gillingham manage to open the scoring, Olly Lee whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Robbie Cundy wins the aerial challenge to header the ball on across the face of goal and the header across the face of goal from Robbie Cundy hits Dominic Samuel, and there is Vadaine Oliver unmarked at the far post to smash the ball into the back of the net from close range to give Gillingham the lead, and just like how Tom Eaves didn’t celebrate when he scored for Hull City against Gillingham, Vadaine Oliver also didn’t celebrate against Northampton Town when he gave Gillingham the lead after eleven minutes - GILLINGHAM 1-0 NORTHAMPTON TOWN.

Gillingham have had there chances to open the scoring with Olly Lee’s shot towards goal blocked by Lloyd Jones, Alex MacDonald’s shot towards goal was blocked and Olly Lee’s in-swinging cross from the resulting corner had to be punched out of play at full stretch by Jonathan Mitchell, And if Gillingham are going to create so many chances to open the scoring inside the opening eleven minutes of the match, then eventually Northampton Town’s Defence is going to fold under the pressure, and that goal from Vadaine Oliver is precisely what Gillingham needed, Especially as Northampton Town need to score twice to get the win they so desperately need to give themselves the best possible chance of avoiding relegation into League Two.

Thirteen Minutes Into The Match, And Ryan Watson has possession of the ball for Northampton Town in a central position on the pitch thirty yards from goal, And Ryan Watson takes a touch to control the ball before taking a few touches to set himself and Ryan Watson pretends to get a shot off on goal which tricks Alex MacDonald and Ryan Watson shifts the ball back on to his left foot and not only does Connor Ogilvie manage to nip in there to intercept the ball, But Connor Ogilvie is also fouled by Ryan Watson and The Northampton Town Midfielder is penalised and booked for his challenge on Connor Ogilvie - And that was fantastic defending from Connor Ogilvie to relieve the pressure building on to Gillingham’s Goal.

Fifteen Minutes Into The Match, And Gillingham have been awarded a throw on right in-front of the dugouts, and it is from this throw on where Gillingham could have doubled there lead and gone 2-0 up, Ryan Jackson hurls the ball long down the line and Fraser Horsfall wins the aerial challenge up against Olly Lee and Joseph Mills was about to boot the ball clear and away from danger before Olly Lee manages to nip in there to intercept the ball, And Olly Lee manages to retain possession of the ball before threading a pass through to Kyle Dempsey right by the byline in the far corner of The Brian Moore Stand / Medway Stand Side Of The Pitch, And Kyle Dempsey see’s his low cross towards the near post blocked by Lloyd Jones, who had crouched low to block the cross, And Lloyd Jones takes far too long in possession of the ball and Dominic Samuel intercepts the ball from Lloyd Jones right on the byline, And Dominic Samuel turns back on himself so that he is facing goal-wards, And Dominic Samuel’s low shot across the face of goal was turned around the far left post and Northampton Town Goalkeeper Jonathan Mitchell must have got the faintest of touches on to the ball to divert the ball out of play for A Gillingham Corner Kick - A Fantastic Save from Jonathan Mitchell - But defending like that from Lloyd Jones gives us a explanation as to why Northampton Town are in The League One Relegation Zone, and watching that effort on goal from Dominic Samuel again, you can only applaud the save from Jonathan Mitchell, and had Dominic Samuel scored for 2-0, that would have put Gillingham in a fantastic position to pick up all three points.

Nineteen Minutes Into The Match, And Gillingham created another decent goal-scoring opportunity, And this goal-scoring opportunity was initially created from A Gillingham Long Throw As Ryan Jackson hurls in a long dangerous throw and Fraser Horsfall headers the ball clear towards the edge of Northampton Town’s Penalty Area, And Kyle Dempsey plays a first time pass out-wide towards Ryan Jackson, And Ryan Jackson takes a touch to control the ball before playing a short squared pass towards Kyle Dempsey in a left / central area on the pitch, And Kyle Dempsey takes a touch to control the ball before running inside centrally right on the edge of the penalty area as Kyle Dempsey takes on Peter Kioso, And Kyle Dempsey fires in a fiercely driven shot which Jonathan Mitchell was more then equal to with The Northampton Town Goalkeeper parrying the ball away from goal with a splendid save - Gills really could have done with Kyle Dempsey scoring with that effort on goal, Because 2-0 would have put Gillingham in a very strong position to pick up all three points.

Twenty One Minutes Into The Match, And Gillingham are in the ascendancy yet again, And again, this goal-scoring opportunity was created from A Gillingham Throw On, Ryan Jackson hurls in a long dangerous throw and Lloyd Jones wins the initial aerial challenge and Ryan Watson wins the second aerial challenge and Vadaine Oliver goes for the spectacular over-head kick and Vadaine Oliver doesn’t make contact with the ball and Olly Lee is first to the loose ball inside Northampton Town’s Penalty Area, And Olly Lee passes the ball back to Kyle Dempsey on the edge of the penalty area, And Kyle Dempsey plays a first time pass towards Olly Lee down the left side of Northampton Town’s Penalty Area, And Olly Lee is twisting and turning and Olly Lee manages a rabona cross and Lloyd Jones manages to header the ball out of play for A Gillingham Throw On Down The Gordon Road Stand / Brian Moore Stand Side Of The Pitch - Ryan Jackson’s long throw has caused Northampton Town more problems defensively and Gillingham really can do with that all important second goal, Because Gillingham are creating plenty of goal-scoring opportunities and The Gills really need to double there advantage, Because it only takes one effort on goal from the visitor’s to hit the back of the net, And Northampton Town are level at 1-1.

And that is almost precisely what happened In The Twenty Fifth Minute, Because Northampton Town really should have equalised for 1-1, Kyle Dempsey passes the ball back towards Stuart O’Keefe down the left side of the pitch in Gillingham’s Half, And Stuart O’Keefe passes the ball square to Jack Tucker, who takes a touch to control the ball, And Jack Tucker’s back pass towards Jack Bonham is woefully under-hit and Alex Jones is through on goal for Northampton Town and Alex Jones is one on one with Jack Bonham, And Alex Jones takes a touch to set himself before firing his effort towards goal well wide of the far right post - AND THAT WAS THE CHANCE FOR NORTHAMPTON TOWN TO EQUALISE AND THAT WAS A MASSIVE LET OFF FOR GILLINGHAM!!!!!!! - Huge credit must go to Jack Bonham for staying on his feat for as long as possible and this perhaps put a level of doubt into Alex Jones Mind, And The Northampton Town Striker went for power to beat Jack Bonham but failed to hit the target - BUT WHAT ON EARTH WAS JACK TUCKER DOING WITH THAT HORRENDOUS BACK-PASS!!!!!!!

Twenty Eight Minutes Into The Match, Northampton Town went from the score-line should have been 1-1, To Gillingham creating a decent goal-scoring opportunity for 2-0, Gillingham have a throw on down The Medway Stand Side Of The Pitch, And Ryan Jackson hurls a long throw down the line and Vadaine Oliver wins the initial aerial challenge and Fraser Horsfall wins the second aerial challenge up against Dominic Samuel and Fraser Horsfall wins the next aerial challenge before Vadaine Oliver can get to the loose ball, But Fraser Horsfall’s headed clearance goes straight towards Kyle Dempsey, who chests the ball under control and Kyle Dempsey passes the ball square to Alex MacDonald on the edge of Northampton Town’s Penalty Area, And Alex MacDonald’s first time through-ball through to Vadaine Oliver is slightly over-hit, and Jonathan Mitchell was able to gather the ball with some difficulty to keep Northampton Town in this match at 1-0 down.

Thirty Two Minutes Into The Match, And Gillingham have been awarded a free kick, Jack Bonham saves Mickel Miller’s low in-swinging cross, and Jack Bonham was quick to throw the ball out-wide to Kyle Dempsey down the right side of the pitch, And Kyle Dempsey runs forwards in possession of the ball for The Gills and Kyle Dempsey continue’s his run forwards into Northampton Town’s Final Third, And Kyle Dempsey checks back on himself to evade the attempted challenge from Peter Kioso, And The Northampton Town Defender Pushes Kyle Dempsey down to the deck and Gillingham have been awarded a free kick, and it is from this free kick where Gillingham had the chance to go 2-0 up, Olly Lee whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Robbie Cundy climbs highest to header the ball down into the ground and the ball bounces high straight into Jonathan Mitchell’s grasp, either side of The Northampton Town Goalkeeper would have seen Gillingham go 2-0 up, And Gillingham have had there chances to extend the lead further in there favour in this action packed first half.

Thirty Five Minutes Into The Match, And Again, Gillingham were looking to double there advantage to 2-0 in another attacking opportunity, Stuart O’Keefe has possession of the ball in Gillingham’s Half Of The Pitch, And Stuart O’Keefe runs forwards in possession of the ball before passing the ball forwards towards Dominic Samuel on the halfway line, And Dominic Samuel losses possession of the ball to Bryn Morris, But Dominic Samuel does really well to intercept the ball off The Northampton Town Midfielder, And Dominic Samuel runs forwards in possession of the ball towards Northampton Town’s Penalty Area, But Dominic Samuel’s threaded through-ball through to Vadaine Oliver was over-hit and the ball runs out of play for A Northampton Town Goal-Kick - I thought Dominic Samuel needed to play that pass to Vadaine Oliver earlier or pass the ball towards Kyle Dempsey or Olly Lee, and if Dominic Samuel was fully fit and not having made substitute appearances for The Gills since his return from injury, Then I think a fully match sharp Dominic Samuel plays a better quality pass personally.

And straight from the resulting goal-kick, Northampton Town had the chance to equalise, Jonathan Mitchell kicks the ball long down-field and Connor Ogilvie wins the initial aerial challenge and Bryn Morris wins the next aerial challenge to header the ball back into Gillingham’s Half Of The Pitch, And Mickel Miller gets the ball under control down the left side of the pitch, And Mickel Miller kicks a high up and under pass which Alex Jones cannot get on to the end of because Robbie Cundy wins the initial aerial challenge and Jack Tucker’s kneed clearance goes straight towards Mickel Miller, And The Northampton Town Striker gets the ball under control before taking a few touches in possession of the ball, and Mickel Miller runs into a more central position on the pitch before driving a curling fizzing shot towards the far left corner of the net and Jack Bonham does brilliantly to not only make the save, but parry the ball wide and away from goal and out of play for A Northampton Town Corner Kick - EXCELLENT SAVE FROM JACK BONHAM!!!!! - And a save which preserves Gillingham’s 1-0 lead, and from the resulting corner kick, Sam Hoskin’s in-swinging cross towards the far post is over-hit, and the ball runs out of play for A Gillingham Goal-Kick - But that effort on goal from Mickel Miller is a reminder for Gillingham that Northampton Town are still very much in this match.

Thirty Seven Minutes Into The Match, And Gillingham have been awarded a free kick when Shaun McWilliams is penalised for shoving Dominic Samuel in the back and Gillingham have been awarded a free kick in a very promising position on the pitch, And from the resulting free kick, Gillingham had the chance to double there lead, Olly Lee, Kyle Dempsey and Alex MacDonald are all standing over the ball, And Olly Lee plays a short pass to Kyle Dempsey, And Kyle Dempsey tee’s up Olly Lee, And Olly Lee’s low shot towards goal is saved by Jonathan Mitchell, all be it with some difficulty, Because Jonathan Mitchell had to readjust his diving position to ensure that he saved and gathered the ball at the first attempt, Because Vadaine Oliver was there anticipating any re-bound to tap in for 2-0.

Forty Minutes Into The Match, And Northampton Town had the chance to equalise for 1-1, Jack Bonham kicks the ball long down-field and Fraser Horsfall headers the ball partially clear and away from danger and Sam Hoskins headers the ball square to Mickel Miller, And Mickel Miller’s pass short to Bryn Morris is short and Alex MacDonald times his sliding challenge to perfection, however, Bryn Morris is running down Gillingham’s Left Flank and manages to keep the ball in play right by the byline, and Bryn Morris runs inside into a more central position on the pitch, And Bryn Morris passes the ball square to Sam Hoskins in a right / central position on the pitch, And Sam Hoskins takes a few touches in possession of the ball before firing a low effort towards goal which flashes just wide of Gillingham’s far left post with Jack Bonham diving at full stretch - AND THAT WAS THE CHANCE FOR NORTHAMPTON TOWN TO EQUALISE FOR 1-1!!!!! - Maybe Jack Bonham had Sam Hoskins effort on goal covered if Hoskins manages to hit the target, but you can never be too sure and better safe then sorry that Jack Bonham dived at full stretch.

And Gillingham had the final goal-scoring opportunity of the first half in The Forty Third Minute Of The Match, Northampton Town were pushing for the equaliser with Joseph Mills running forwards in possession of the ball and Joseph Mills manages to take on Stuart O’Keefe, runs into a more central position of the pitch and is drawing the attention of Jack Tucker, And Joseph Mills passes the ball out-wide to Peter Kioso Down Gillingham’s Left Side Of The Pitch In Gillingham’s Final Third, And Peter Kioso takes a touch to control the ball before clipping in a dangerous high and hanging cross towards the back-stick and Ryan Jackson headers the ball partially clear towards the edge of Gillingham’s Penalty Area, And Olly Lee gets the ball under control before booting the ball long down-field and Fraser Horsfall gets to the long clearance ahead of Dominic Samuel and Fraser Horsfall passes the ball back to Goalkeeper Jonathan Mitchell, And Jonathan Mitchell boots the ball clear down towards the halfway line, and Peter Kioso wins the initial aerial challenge and Olly Lee does really well to retain possession of the ball, lay the ball off to Kyle Dempsey, who losses possession of the ball, But Bryn Morris’s pass down the line is blocked by Connor Ogilvie and Shaun McWilliams gets the ball under control and plays a short pass out-wide to Peter Kioso, And Peter Kioso manages to pick out Sam Hoskins with a pass towards the centre circle, And Sam Hoskins passes the ball forwards towards Alex Jones, And Alex Jones losses possession of the ball to Stuart O’Keefe, And Stuart O’Keefe runs forwards in possession of the ball, And Stuart O’Keefe manages to pick out Ryan Jackson with a threaded pass down the right side of the pitch in Northampton Town’s Final Third, And Ryan Jackson manages to nutmeg and skilfully evade two challenges from Shaun McWilliams, And Ryan Jackson clips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Vadaine Oliver’s looping header goes just wide of the far right post - And that was the chance for Gillingham to go 2-0 up just before half time.

HALF TIME: GILLINGHAM 1-0 NORTHAMPTON TOWN

I uploaded the following status updates on to social media at half time,,,,, HALF TIME: GILLINGHAM 1-0 NORTHAMPTON TOWN - Vadaine Oliver's goal is the difference between both sides in the first half in a first half which has been very end to end, And Lee came close to opening the scoring after five minutes, when his shot towards goal was blocked by Jones. Mills's curling free kick went just wide of the far right post and after eleven minutes, Oliver opened the scoring for The Gills with Jackson hurling in a long dangerous throw, one of Cundy or Samuel flicked the ball on and Oliver was in the right place to give The Gills the lead, Dominic Samuel almost made the score-line 2-0, when he intercepted the ball inside Northampton Town's Penalty Area, And Samuel's shot towards goal was saved by Mitchell and knocked out of play for a corner, Dempsey's curling shot towards goal was also saved by Mitchell in goal. But despite all the chances Gillingham were creating, a dreadful back-pass from Jack Tucker put the ball through to Jones, who really should have equalised for Northampton Town, and that was a massive let off for The Gills. Cundy's header towards goal from Lee's cross was saved. Bonham saved Miller's curling effort towards goal as Northampton Town were looking the better side in the closing stages of the first half, Lee's low effort towards goal from Dempsey's layoff was saved by Mitchell, Oliver also headed Jackson's cross just wide of the far post.

Ryan Watson and Joseph Mills were booked for Northampton Town in the first half, And Stuart O’Keefe and Robbie Cundy were booked for The Gills, Stuart O’Keefe has now been booked ten times in his last fifteen appearances for Gillingham and twelve bookings in twenty four appearances throughout The 2020 / 2021 Season, which is truly a remarkable statistic, But one thing which was less then remarkable in the first half which was that horrendous back-pass from Jack Tucker which put Alex Jones through one on one with Jack Bonham, And Alex Jones should have equalised for Northampton Town, But credit must go to Jack Bonham for staying on his feat for as long as possible, And Jack Bonham staying on his feat was enough for Gillingham to preserve there one goal lead.

SECOND HALF: And that one on one miss from Alex Jones see’s Northampton Town Manager Jon Brady substitute Alex Jones at half time, with experienced striker Danny Rose coming on right at the start of the second half, Danny Rose has been linked with a move to Gillingham previously when he was playing for Mansfield Town In League Two and Danny Rose will just give Northampton Town something different in attack to concern Gillingham defensively, Steve Evans hasn’t made any tactical or enforced substitutions at half time because Gillingham were winning 1-0, perhaps the only disappointing aspect from Gillingham’s first half performance was the fact that Gillingham have not extended the lead further in our favour, 2-0 or 3-0 would have put The Gills in a very strong position to pick up all three points.

Fifty Four Minutes Into The Match, And Gillingham have been awarded a free kick when Bryn Morris is penalised and booked for a very reckless challenge on Alex MacDonald on the halfway line, And Gillingham have been awarded a free kick, and from the resulting free kick, Jack Tucker kicks in a high and hanging cross towards the edge of Northampton Town’s Penalty Area, And Fraser Horsfall manages to header the ball partially clear and away from danger, and Alex MacDonald headers the ball square to Kyle Dempsey down the right side of the pitch, And Alex MacDonald had sprinted across to provide Kyle Dempsey with a passing option, And Kyle Dempsey takes a few touches in possession of the ball before attempting to thread a through-ball through to Olly Lee, And Sam Hoskins manages to intercept the ball for Northampton Town before being forced to run towards his own byline, And Sam Hoskins does really well to clip the ball down the line just to momentarily get the ball clear and away from goal, whilst at the same-time preventing the ball going out of play for A Gillingham Corner Kick, And Ryan Jackson gets to the loose ball first and passes the ball forwards towards Olly Lee, And Olly Lee takes a touch to control the ball before passing the ball back to Ryan Jackson, And Ryan Jackson clips a long pass down the line for Dominic Samuel to try and get on the end of, And Dominic Samuel does manage to get the loose ball first ahead of Lloyd Jones, And Lloyd Jones had completely taken Dominic Samuel out, And Gillingham have been awarded a free kick in a very promising position on the pitch.

And I have got to say that Lloyd Jones can consider himself “very fortunate” not to have been booked for that challenge on Dominic Samuel, However, Gillingham had the chance to double there lead and go 2-0 up from the resulting free kick, Kyle Dempsey and Olly Lee are both standing over the ball, And Olly Lee whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Robbie Cundy’s glancing header loops just wide of the far left post - And had Robbie Cundy’s Header been on target, Gillingham would have doubled there lead and 2-0 would have put Gillingham in a stronger position to pick up all three points.

Once the ball had gone out of play, Northampton Town make a double substitution, With Mark Marshall and Ryan Edmondson coming on to replace Mickel Miller and Shaun McWilliams, Mark Marshall and Ryan Edmondson are both attacking players and Northampton Town have got to win against Gillingham if they are to stand any chance of avoiding relegation into League Two, Because Northampton Town’s final two league games of the season are against Blackpool and Sunderland, And Northampton Town will look at this match against Gillingham as there best opportunity to pick up all three points, but at the same-time, the more attack minded Northampton Town are, there is the possibility of Gillingham hitting Northampton Town on the counter attack and extending the lead further in our favour.

Fifty Seven Minutes Into The Match, And Gillingham had another goal-scoring opportunity to go 2-0 up, Lloyd Jones had kicked the ball out of play for A Gillingham Throw On Down The Gordon Road Stand / Rainham End Side Of The Pitch, And it is from this throw on where Gillingham could and perhaps should have doubled there lead, Ryan Jackson hurls in a long dangerous throw and the ball goes over Robbie Cundy’s head and the ball his Vadaine Oliver in the chest, And Vadaine Oliver manages to keep the ball in play by the byline, And Vadaine Oliver takes a few touches in possession of the ball before passing the ball out-wide to Ryan Jackson, And Ryan Jackson takes a touch to control the ball before whipping in a dangerous in-swinging cross towards the far post, and Dominic Samuel’s glancing header flashes just wide of the far left post - AND THAT WAS THE CHANCE FOR GILLINGHAM TO SCORE FOR 2-0!!!!! - Robbie Cundy, Dominic Samuel and Connor Ogilvie were all inside the penalty area to try and get on the end of that cross from Ryan Jackson, and maybe all three players got in each other’s way, But really, Gillingham should have scored for 2-0 with that chance from Dominic Samuel.

I think Olly Lee taking the shot on early caught Jonathan Mitchell out, Because Kyle Dempsey and Vadaine Oliver both were giving Olly Lee passing options, But Olly Lee has managed to pick out the bottom left corner of the net, and that all important second goal has given Gillingham some much needed breathing space, and now Northampton Town have to score three goals to give themselves the best possible chance of avoiding relegation into League Two.

Once the ball has gone out of play, Northampton Town make there fourth substitute of the match, With Caleb Chukwuemeka coming on to replace Ryan Watson, And Gillingham have yet to make a change, I had a few substitution recommendations, Robbie McKenzie could come on to replace Stuart O’Keefe, because Stuart O’Keefe might be walking on thin ice with that yellow card, Jordan Graham and Tyreke Johnson could both come on, which will enable Gillingham to try and catch Northampton Town on the break with the visitor’s over-committing players forwards to try and get the three goals they need to pick up the three points that Northampton Town clearly need to avoid relegation, But we’re looking at the bench thinking Gillingham can do with making a few changes to freshen the team up.

Ryan Edmondson’s shot towards goal goes into the far right corner of the net, and you have got to say that goal has been coming based on the goal-scoring opportunities that Northampton Town have created in the second half, We’re now looking at that Vadaine Oliver one on one effort as the potential game changer, because 3-0 would have been game over, But 2-1, And Northampton Town are right back in this match now, and we’re looking at the bench seeing who can come on to help Gillingham either sit back and defend this 2-1 lead, or, who can come on for Gillingham to try and reestablish our two goal lead again, surely Jordan Graham or Tyreke Johnson can come on to provide Gillingham with an alternative option in attack ???

In The Eighty First Minute Of The Match, Mark Marshall’s cross is blocked by Connor Ogilvie at the expense of conceding a corner kick, and unfortunately from A Gillingham Point Of View, Northampton Town were able to equalise from the resulting corner, Joseph Mills whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Fraser Horsfall headers the ball into the back of the net from close range to score Northampton Town’s Equaliser, It’s poor marking from Gillingham from the corner kick, And If Jack Bonham has to come rushing off his goal-line, then he has to save or parry the ball, or, stay on his goal-line, But I think the poor marking is the major culprit for Northampton Town’s Equaliser - GILLINGHAM 2-2 NORTHAMPTON TOWN.

Gillingham then make a double substitution in The Eighty Eighth Minute, Jordan Graham comes on to replace Olly Lee, And Youngster Gerald Sithole comes on for Dominic Samuel to make his debut for Gillingham, And Gerald Sithole making his debut is fantastic news, However, Steve Evans has not used his substitutes to full effect, Because we were questioning the decision to sit on The 2-1 lead against Oxford United and why didn’t Dominic Samuel and John Akinde come on when the score-line was 2-2 at The Kassam Stadium, and again, we’re wondering why hasn’t Steve Evans used the substitutes bench to full effect,Because eighty eight minutes before Gillingham make a sub is very concerning, especially after the hard work Gillingham put in to win 1-0 against Peterborough United in mid-week.

And Robbie McKenzie has to come and replace Ryan Jackson, who had to be redrawn from the match because of injury, again, not using the substitutes bench to full effect is going to cost us, Because the players who are playing are playing constantly and there is no rest-bite, and the players who are not playing are not building up there match fitness and match sharpness levels, because it will take those players who are not playing a few games to get themselves up to speed of competitive first team football.

Northampton Town had the chance to turn this match from 2-0 down to 3-2 up with a corner kick in The Ninety First Minute Of The Match, Joseph Mills whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross towards the far post and Fraser Horsfall’s glancing header goes just wide of the far right post - AND THAT WAS THE CHANCE FOR NORTHAMPTON TOWN TO TAKE THE LEAD!!!! - I was frustrated and furious at this point because I could only see Northampton Town winning and picking up all three points, And Gillingham could be losing 3-2 in successive Saturday’s having gone 2-0 up against Oxford United and 2-0 up against Northampton Town.

And the final noteworthy moment of the match see’s Robbie Cundy block Fraser Horsfall’s header towards goal from Mark Marshall’s cross and Robbie Cundy has deflected Fraser Horsfall’s header out of play for A Northampton Town Corner Kick, And From The Resulting Corner Kick, Sam Hoskins whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Jack Bonham punches the ball partially clear and Jordan Graham headers the ball out-wide, And Mark Marshall is on to the loose ball and Mark Marshall runs forwards towards the byline and whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Robbie McKenzie headers the ball clear and Jordan Graham completes the clearance, and after five additional minutes of added time, the full time whistle has been blown from Referee Carl Brook, And The Full Time Score At Priestfield Stadium Is Gillingham 2-2 Northampton Town.

FULL TIME: GILLINGHAM 2-2 NORTHAMPTON TOWN

I posted the following status update on Social Media,,,,,,, FULL TIME: GILLINGHAM 2-2 NORTHAMPTON TOWN - Last Saturday, Gillingham were 2-0 up and lost 3-2 against Oxford United, Today, Gillingham were 2-0 up against Northampton Town and drew 2-2, those five dropped points have killed off Gills faint chances of a playoff spot this season. The first chance of the second half see's Olly Lee whip in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Robbie Cundy headers wide for The Gills, Dominic Samuel headers wide from Ryan Jackson's cross as Gillingham were looking for that all important vital second goal to give Gills some breathing space. Bonham makes a fantastic save to prevent Northampton from equalising before almost dropping the cross from the resulting cross into A Northampton Players path and Bonham gathers the ball at the second attempt, Morris's shot is deflected out of play for a corner for Northampton. And when Olly Lee doubles Gillingham's lead to 2-0, And with Northampton not capitalising on the chances they have created in the second half, I think everyone thought that Gills would kick on from here and make it back to back league wins and keep our faint playoff hopes alive. Northampton threw caution to the wind, Marshall, Rose and Edmondson came on and Cundy was in the right place at the right time to header Marshall's curling shot off the line to preserve Gills two goal lead. Oliver had the chance to score for 3-0, but his shot on goal was saved. Two goals in four minutes from Edmondson and Horsfall cancelled out Gillingham's two goal lead, But MacDonald's shot towards goal was tipped over by Mitchell, Samuel's curling effort towards goal hit the post, And Dempsey had the chance to shoot but opted to pass the ball. A draw doesn't help Northampton Town in there challenge to avoid relegation into League Two, And a draw doesn't help Gillingham to try and keep our faint playoff hopes alive, This is two points dropped for Gillingham and one point gained for Northampton Town.

Gillingham not making the playoffs shouldn't tarnish what has been a remarkable run of form for Gills in the second half of the season, Back to back wins in our final two games would equal Justin Edinburgh's points tally from 20 15 / 2016 Season, But there has been an over-reliance on the same fourteen / fifteen players to put in some exceptional effort and performances to try and see if Gillingham can achieve the unlikely goal of securing ourselves a playoff spot at the end of The 2020 / 2021 Season, And our aim now is to finish this season as high as we possibly can, and then we turn our attention to the off season and the likelihood that Gillingham will have to re-build our first team squad again from scratch, Because Jack Bonham, Stuart O’Keefe, Jordan Graham and Connor Ogilvie are all out of contract in the summer, and loanee’s Tom O’Connor, Robbie Cundy and Olly Lee will return to there parent clubs as well, which means Gillingham having to gel an entire new team ready for The 2021 / 2022 Season and gelling a squad together takes time, and it is that time which saw Gillingham lose five league games in a row without scoring a goal in the first half of this season, and losing five games in a row is why Gillingham are not going to achieve a playoff spot at the end of the season.

I also have got to criticise Steve Evans for his lack of substitutions again, Oxford United bring on Dan Agyei, Sam Winnall, Jamie Hanson and Alejandro Gorrin and Oxford United were losing 2-0 and won 3-2, Northampton Town bring on Mark Marshall, Danny Rose, Ryan Edmondson and Caleb Chukwuemeka, And Northampton Town fight back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2, And Northampton Town could have won 3-2 against Gillingham as well, I think you have got to criticise Steve Evans here for the lack of substitutions earlier on in the game, We have got Robbie McKenzie, Jordan Graham, Gerald Sithole, Tom O’Connor, Tyreke Johnson and Henry Woods, It was clear and obvious for all to see that Gillingham needed fresh legs to come on to cope with the caution to the wind approach that Northampton Town were going for when Mark Marshall, Danny Rose and Ryan Edmondson came on, Because those three caused Gillingham a lot of problems.

It is great to see Gerald Sithole make his debut for Gillingham, And I just wished that Gerald Sithole was making his debut with Gillingham winning 3-0 and the match is beyond all doubt and Gillingham had secured the win, But it was clear for all to see that Gillingham had to make changes, we had to freshen the team up because the players put in a fantastic shift to win 1-0 away against Peterborough United, and we’re hoping that the same players can replicate that performance, and for the most part, we had replicated that performance because Gillingham were winning 2-0 against Northampton Town, But after going 2-0 up, that’s when Gills needed fresh legs to come on and give Gillingham the energy and freshness we needed to see the game out.

But it is clear for all to see as to why those changes were not made, Steve Evans doesn’t trust Henry Woods and Tyreke Johnson, But that still leaves you with Jordan Graham, Tom O’Connor and Robbie McKenzie, three players who have played a pivotal role for Gillingham Football Club This Season, and surely all three players could have come on whilst the score-line was 2-0 just to freshen the team up, and maybe Gillingham could have held out for 2-0 or 2-1 for longer and then Gerald Sithole is coming on to make his debut for Gillingham whilst Gillingham are in a winning position.

And because of our over-reliance on the same thirteen, fourteen and fifteen players, that means that our players who are playing week in and week out are feeling the effects of a congested football league season, Gillingham put in a hard fought backs against the performance against Peterborough United in mid-week, and the players were rewarded with there efforts with a hard fought 1-0 win, But then we go into The Northampton Town Game, Gillingham are winning 2-0, Northampton Town make four subs which help Northampton Town battle back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2, And Gillingham have not used our squad to full effect, we don’t rotate the squad often enough, and with five substitutes allowed in each match, that gives manager’s more flexibility in there choice of substitutions, even if that means your bringing a player on purely just to give your team a fresh pair of legs in defence, midfield or attack in the closing stages of the match.

This still has been an out-standing season for The Gills, But the loss against Oxford United and the draw against Northampton Town with Gillingham losing points from both matches when Gillingham were winning 2-0 has just killed off our slim chances of securing ourselves a playoff spot at the end of the season, Just being in the conversation regarding competing for a playoff spot with six games to go is a phenomenal achievement, But I just think that this season has caught up with our small squad, and the lack of squad depth has shown recently, And Steve Evans reluctance to use the bench has been irritating in the past two Saturday League Matches.

The challenge now for Gillingham is the win both of our remaining league games against Burton Albion And Plymouth Argyle, And If Gillingham were to achieve that goal, then Gillingham would have matched the sixty nine points Gillingham picked up in The 2015 / 2016 Season Under Justin Edinburgh, which is the most amount of points Gillingham have picked up in League One since our relegation from The Championship In 2005, Hopefully, Gillingham can achieve that goal by winning both matches against Burton Albion And Plymouth Argyle, But I do have to admit that I am frustrated with that 2-2 draw against Northampton Town Though, But let’s end The 2020 / 2021 Season on a high - COME ON THE GILLS!!!!!!!!

Lots of nominations are out. I do have some faves: The Grammy’s went crazy for Lizzo and Billie Eilish. The comedy recording noms went to Trevor Noah, Ellen, Aziz, Gaffigan and Dave Chappelle.**The Sag’s gave love to Leo and Brad for Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood, Of course, Joaquin was nominated for Joker. Most noms went to JJ Rabbit, The Irishman and Bombshell. In TV there was much ado about The Morning Show, The Crown, Barry, Big Little Lies, Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Schitt’s Creek.** The Golden Globes which will air on Jan. 5 were full of great choices. Fingers crossed for Joaquin Phoenix and Todd Phillips for Joker, Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood and Quentin and Brad and Leo, Knives Out, Kathy Bates, Jodie Comer, Olivia Coleman, Billy Porter, Bill Hader and Henry Winkler and Barry. I hope good things for The Crown, Succession, Patricia Arquette, Helena Bonham Carter, Brian Cox and Kieran Culkin. The President was impeached on Dec 18. There were plenty of objections and rants from the republicans like they were children. The idiocy that comes out of their mouths is astonishing. Doug Collins, Deb Lasko and Louie Gohmert just seem insane. I don’t understand why there was not more push back when they kept up their mantra about nothing in the Mueller report when we can all see that there was. We are not all stupid. In the end some sort of consequence was finally brought to the man who has been accused of so much in his life. In formal impeachment proceedings there is no executive privilege. Pelosi is mulling over when to send the case to the senate. It is probably a good idea to let POTUS stew over the holidays.

1. Bonham was working with NSP as a guest performer for one of their videos, but she won’t tell you guys anything until it comes out. When it does, you find out that it’s a song about selling your soul for a saxophone solo. Bonham plays the ‘Saxy Succubus’, and is dressed in knee high heeled leather boots, fishnets, a barely-ass length red and black satin dress, a red cape resembling Danny’s, shoulder length gloves with 3-inch fingernails attached (like that picture, I can send it again if you want), intensely heavy makeup and Rikki Rockett-esque hair. She shows you, Sean, and Kevin the video, and Danny and Arin watch it again. When it’s over, Sean asks, “What the hell were you wearing? That was weird.” She just smiles, “Oh, I loved it. Me an Danny designed it together. So what do you guys think?” How do you and Sean and Kevin respond, and what do Danny and Arin say?

Sean: Wow! You look hot!

Me: Don’t you dare “get busy” to that you still live in my house.

Kevin: Well...it’s...something.

Danny: It’s great isn’t it?

Arin: I liked it.

2. After Thanksgiving, you and Bonham are with Arin and Danny and are watching them film the mystery drink challenge power hour. Bonham offers a tray of Jello her family made, but when they open it, Danny gags. “There’s so much alcohol in this I can smell it from here. These are shots and we don’t drink.” Bonham just looks confused. “Those can’t be shots, it’s just jello. It tastes like nothing.” You test it and sure enough, they’re shots. “What the hell? I can’t taste it or smell it, and I ate like, a quarter of this tray on the way over here.” How do you, Arin, and Danny respond?

Me: Ok, I’m driving us home.

Arin: Christ, you have a very high alcohol tolerance.

Danny: I’m getting drunk all the way over here.

3. Bonham comes up to you and Kevin super excitedly one day and shoves a USB disk at you. “Listen to what I made!” she says. You give a listen, and it’s this song, played on melodica and clarinet. She’s super proud of it, even though it’s a bit silly. How do you and Kevin respond to what she did out of sheer boredom?

Me: I think it’s great

Kevin: Wow, you were really bored.

4. You and Kevin and Arin and Danny went with Bonham and her brother Chuck to test out Chuck’s new dirt bike. Chuck shows you all how to do it, and Arin and Danny do fairly well for themselves. Bonham takes a turn, and as she’s taking a turn too fast she falls off. Before you guys can hardly react, she’s up, dusts herself off, and gets back on. When It comes time, do you take a turn? What do you all say when she gives the bike back to Chuck?

I don’t take a turn.

Me: I’m good.

Kevin and Arin: Are you ok?

Danny: you really wiped out.

5. Bonham is telling you, Kevin, and your band a story of when a drunken neighbor flipped his pickup into her driveway. The cab was crushed but the passenger and driver were fine, but when the cops came the driver bolted. The passenger told the cops, “His name’s Jesse James, he’s 23–” but before she finished, Bonham’s mom piped up, “That’s a crock of shit! His name’s Kevin Karlsson, he was born in 1965, and his dad’s house is just back there. He’s probably hiding in his closet. I can take you there if you want.” She took the cops down there and sure enough, that’s where he was. How do you all react to the story?

Me: That’s almost as bad as when my dad found a dead body at his apartments.

Sean: Whoa!

Linus: What the fuck?

Erik: Yeah, what the fuck?

Kevin: Oh, Bons and I have already heard that story.

6. Bonham’s noodling around on her clarinet one day when you and her and Kevin are hanging out with Arin and Danny. Arin says, “What can you play? Sing us a song on your toot stick.” She says, “Hmm. Oh! Wanna hear something cool?” and proceeds to play the guitar solo from Goodbye to Romance. How do you all respond?

I start to tear up and Danny and Arin go, “What’s wrong?”

Me: Oh nothing it just reminds me of Randy.

Kevin: How long did it take you to learn that on your clarinet? It sounds amazing.

7. Kevin and Bonham keep fighting because she keeps calling him a bitch. One day, you see him hide all the cups from her. “She can’t drink until she apologizes.” “This is ridiculous, but whatever.” you say. You’re both sitting in the kitchen when she looks for a cup. Kevin looks at her expectantly, but she just grabs a bowl and pours it full of milk, then takes a drink. “I know what you’re doing and I’m not going to apologize for something I’m not sorry for.” she says. How do you and Kevin respond?

Me: Kevin, you are a bitch.

Kevin: Why are you both ganging up on me?!

8. You’re in the studio one day with Kevin and Arin and Danny visiting Bonham when she’s doing some solo stuff. She’s being extremely picky; if something doesn’t sound perfect she’s doing it over again. “Why are you being so picky? I know it has to sound good, but damn dude.” Arin says. Bonham just tells him, “If you’re satisfied with your sound on the first try then you’re not good enough. How will you get better if you like everything on the first try?” How do the three of you respond?

Me: Why do you think our records sound so good?

Arin: I’d hate being your producer

Danny: You two are perfectionists.

9. Bonham keeps grafiiti-ing Eddie Van Halen’s stuff because he keeps insisting that she doesn’t belong in the music world. She’s ruining his things, but she hasn’t gotten caught yet. “So, Randy, how does it feel to be dating a criminal?” Kevin asks him one day. “Hey, I’m not a criminal.” Bonham says. “I’m an outlaw.” “What’s the difference?” Kevin asks. “The difference between criminals and outlaws is that outlaws don’t get caught.” she says. How do the three of you respond?

Me: You’re going to get caught eventually.

Randy: Yeah, and I’m not bailing you out.

Kevin: Just be careful, please.

10. Sean has locked himself in his room on a rehearsal day, and your band are having none of it. Luckily for you guys, his window is open and he doesn’t have a screen in it, so Bonham and Erik are throwing rocks in it to get him out. Eventually, he comes outside and says, “What’s your problem man? You hit me and Gina while we were making love!” Bonham just says, “You were alone in there.” “And jacking it,” Linus says. “THAT IS ONE NARRATIVE!” Sean shouts. How do you and the rest of your band respond?

Erik: You masturbate too much.

Linus: you need to keep it in your pants sometimes man.

Me: And you’re doing it next to my kids.

11. Bonham is scheduled to hang out with you and Kevin and Arin and Danny one evening, but she’s late. She won’t answer her phone, so after some time you all head over to her place to see what’s up. The door is unlocked and hanging open, and you find her in her pajamas, in a corner, and chugging what looks to be her third bottle of wine. “What are you doing?” Arin asks. She glances over, eyes glazed, and starts laughing. “I’m celebrating! I’m single now. Time to be a hoe!” She giggles a little bit before she tips over and starts crying. How do the three of you react?

Kevin: Did Rudy break up with you? That bitch.

I go over and hug her and make her feel better. We all end up sitting on the couch and I make sure she doesn’t drink anymore.

Arin goes to your singer, “So, what do you listen to on a daily basis?” “Oh...this.” And your singer plays Ten Seconds to Love. “Why this?” Dan asks. “Well, the bass is heavy and it helps me get out anger. Plus I mean...the subject is kind of obvious.” “No, not really.” How do you, Arin, and your singer respond?

2) You, your singer, Kevin, Rudy, and Sean went to one of your singer’s friend’s wedding. She was finally marrying her girlfriend. While there, your singer is leaning on Kevin and you’re talking with Rudy when you heard Sean go, “The world is my lesbian wedding.” How do you, Rudy, Kevin, and your singer respond?

3) You, your singer, Rudy, and your singer’s friend, Jon Bon Jovi are in line waiting to get into a concert you’ve wanted to see. Because the four of you are semi-famous, you have a lot of people looking at you. All of a sudden, you hear your singer gasp and turn around, “Can you please not touch my ass, Sir?” The big, heavyset guy behind you just nods. Your singer turns back around and not even five minutes later, you hear her gasp again and go, “That’s it.” She whirls around on him and punches him square in the face. How do you, Rudy, and Jon respond? What does the huge guy do and how do all your fans around you respond?

4) Your singer is really drunk one day while you’re working on an album with Crüe. Tommy leans over to her and goes, “I dare you to kiss Mick. He needs some action.” Your singer goes over to Mick and pulls him in for a heated kiss. She turns around then and goes, “I have found my Mick!” Before promptly walking out to her car (although she shouldn’t be driving). How do you, Vince, Nikki, and Mick respond?

5) Your band is making a new album and your producer keeps pushing your singer to sound harsher, “Sound like Tom Keifer. You need to sound like him.” Your singer is getting pissed so she somehow releases this really harsh version of a song from her voice. Afterward, the producer goes, “That was great!” Your singer is about to say something, but when she opens her mouth, nothing comes out. She gets this terrified expression on her face and starts waving her hands. She pulls you over to her and mimes, “I can’t speak! I can’t speak!” How much the producer pushed her caused her to damage her vocal cords. How do you, Sean, Erik, and Linus respond? What does the doctor say once she goes?

6) You, Kevin, Rudy, and your singer are at an awards show and Bon Jovi is getting an award. You’re all standing backstage because War Angel is supposed to be getting one too. You, Rudy, and Kevin hear your singer go from behind her wine glass as Jon comes offstage, “Mmmmhh, I love my Jersey boys.” How do you, Kevin, and Rudy respond?

7) Kevin and your singer got into a huge fight about her dating Nikki before she dated him and she screams at him across the backstage of one of their concerts, “At least I’m not going to name our son after him, “Christ!” Kevin stops and goes, “Wait, we’re having a son?” You, Rudy, Carlos, and Frankie don’t even know she was pregnant. How do the four of you respond?

8) You and your singer have just become roommates and are trying to get your band together. One day, he’s not home until four am and didn’t answer your calls. So you’re sitting on the couch waiting for her. When she opens the door you go, “Where were you? You had me worried. Wait...is that a hickey?” You look closer and sure enough, there's a hickey on her neck, “What’s that from?” “Well, do you remember those cute guys we ran in to at the bar? That guy Kevin asked me out on a date and...uh...well...” At that moment, the door bangs open and Kevin comes in after her, “Ok, so where’s the bedroom?” How do you respond to all this and what do Kevin and your singer say?

9) Your singer still doesn’t know what to wear so one day, she comes in in fishnets, and ripped leather pants, knee-high heeled boots, and a tight red dress and her hair teased. Sean is about to say something and she goes, “Sean, I swear. If one fucking word comes out f that huge ass mouth of yours, I’m digging my heel into your foot. And I won’t regret it.” How do you, Linus, Sean, Erik, Rudy, and Kevin respond?

10) Your singer takes you, Kevin, and Rudy to take care of Hei Hei. Your singer lets her out and gets her food and water and then checks on the house. You follow her out of the house and once Hei Hei hears the squeaky door, she comes running full speed at your singer flapping her wings. She stops at your singers’ feet. Your singer giggles and goes, “Hey, Hei Hei,” before petting the top of her head and putting her in her cage. How do you, Rudy, and Kevin respond?

11) You’re on the Power Hour with Danny, Arin, your singer, and Kevin. Your singer is pissed at Kevin because he’s being a little bitch and an asshole. Danny says something to your singer about starting the game and she goes, “Of course I’ll start the game,” she glares at Kevin, “If the little bitch doesn’t mind.” You can clearly tell that Arin and Danny are uncomfortable when Kevin and your singer glare at each other. Danny finally says, “Wow, you could cut the sexual tension with a knife.” Kevin vaults over the table and starts making out with you singer. How do you, Danny, and Arin respond?

12) Kevin just got laid off of work and QR hasn’t started their new album so he’s in a slump. He’s complaining about it when your singer goes, “You could be my house bitch and take care of the kids while we go on tour.” How do you, Kevin., and Rudy respond?

Some actors are said to be born for a specific role. Few are good enough to get this accolade, but Hugh Jackman is undoubtedly one of them when it comes to playing the Marvel superhero, Wolverine. Not only did he carry the mantle and virtually the entirety of the X-Men franchise for 17 long years, but he did it so well that it's near impossible to imagine anyone else in the role - the two are practically synonymous.

As such, it isn't unusual to forget that outside of his role as Wolverine, Jackman has appeared in plenty of other successful movies, not to mention, he isn't lacking in the awards and accolades department either, being close to achieving EGOT status.

10 Real Steel (2011) - 60%

Mixing classic sports-drama elements with sci-fi, Real Steel takes place in an alternate future where robots have replaced humans in the boxing industry and robot boxing is seen as a popular sport.

Hugh Jackman's character, Charlie Kenton, is struggling to succeed in the world of robot boxing. He finds a dysfunctional robot in a junkyard and works with his son, Max, to fix it up. A former boxer himself, he trains the robot in the art of fighting, and together with his son the three topple many opponents to rise up the ranks.

9 Les Misérables (2012) - 70%

The film that earned him his first and only (for now) acting Academy Award nomination of his life, Les Misérables is a period drama based on the 1980 French musical of the same name, which in turn was based on the novel by Victor Hugo.

Among the star-studded cast of some of Hollywood's biggest names, such as Anne Hatheway, Russel Crowe, and Helena Bonham Carter, Hugh Jackman plays the protagonist, Jean Valjean, a prisoner turned philanthropist who takes in the daughter of an acquaintance. Although he did miss out on an Oscar, Jackman was luckier in the Golden Globes department.

8 Flushed Away (2006) - 73%

Aardman Studios are known for their hit stop-motion clay animation film franchises, such as Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep, and 2006's Flushed Away was their first fully computer-animated film. Rats aren't exactly the top choice when people think of pets, but in Flushed Away, Roddy (voiced by Hugh Jackman) is the spoiled pet rat of a wealthy family who gets flushed down the toilet by another rat.

Discovering a whole new world of mice down in the gutters, called Ratropolis, he teams up with a female rat to try and get back to the life that he was forced out of.

7 Rise Of The Guardians (2012) - 75%

From penguins to rats, Hugh Jackman has certainly had an interesting career as a voice actor, and Rise of the Guardians finds him as the voice behind the character of the Easter Bunny. As a part of a group of protectors who call themselves the Guardians, he works with other mythical beings, such as Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy, who band together to fight against the evil Bogeyman.

The other guardians are voiced by popular actors as well, such as Star Trek star Chris Pine as the Winter spirit, Jack Frost, and Alec Baldwin as Santa Claus.

6 Happy Feet (2006) - 76%

A film that is as much about a group of happy-go-lucky penguins as it is about the environment and wildlife and how they are affected by the actions of human beings, Happy Feet was directed, produced, and co-written by Mad Max creator, George Miller. It focuses on a tap-dancing penguin by the name of Mumble who can't sing, a very vital talent that is necessary for every penguin in their society.

Hugh Jackman is the man behind Mumble's father's voice, Memphis. Besides winning an Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film, it is Warner Brother's highest-grossing animated film.

5 The Prestige (2006) - 76%

One of his earliest and most underrated films, Christopher Nolan's The Prestige is as close to a Wolverine vs Batman film anyone is getting for now. Set in the late 19th century Victorian Era, it is a tale of extreme rivalry adapted from the pages of the book of the same name by author Christopher Priest.

Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman play the part of Alfred Borden and Robert Angier respectively, two fellow magicians who go from being close friends to resentful enemies. Each trying to beat the other, they stop at nothing while destroying each other's lives in the process.

4 Prisoners (2013) - 81%

Director Denis Villeneuve has gained widespread popularity in recent years for his sci-fi hits like Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 and the upcoming Dune, but before all these movies was his psychological thriller, Prisoners. Written by Raised By Wolves creator Aaron Guzikowski, it tells the story of the Dover and Birch family, whose young daughters go missing.

As a man hellbent on locating his daughter, Hugh Jackman plays the father of the Dover family who pulls out all the moral and legal stops in desperation, even working against the police detective trying to help him, played by Jake Gyllenhaal.

3 Eddie The Eagle (2016) - 82%

English athlete Michael Edwards became known as "Eddie the Eagle" when he became the first person to represent Great Britain in ski jumping at the Winter Olympics since 1928. Kingsman star Taron Egerton portrays the titular Eddie in this biopic, while Hugh Jackman can be found in the role of Bronson Peary, Eddie's coach and mentor.

A classic feel-good underdog story, it was directed by Rocketman director Dexter Fletcher and grossed $46 million against a budget of half that.

2 Missing Link (2019) - 89%

The myth of the creature Bigfoot, like many of its kind, has made its way into various movies and other media, and 2019's Missing Link from Laika Studios is one of the best. The Hangover star Zach Galifianakis plays (voices) the Sasquatch, dubbed Mr. Link in the film, while Hugh Jackman appears as Sir Lionel Frost, a myth investigator who teams up with Bigfoot on an expedition to the Himalayas in search for Yetis.

Although the film received fairly positive reviews from fans and critics, it was a massive box-office flop that grossed $26 million against a budget of over $100 million.

1 Bad Education (2019) - 94%

The most critically acclaimed role of his career (even after taking the X-Men films into account, including Logan which has a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes), Bad Education is yet another biographical film from Hugh Jackman. The 2004 Roslyn Union Free School District scandal was one of the biggest cases of embezzlement in a public institution in America's history, and HBO's crime-drama is a retelling of that event.

Jackman plays Frank Tassone, a superintendent who, with the help of an accomplice, steals a total of $11 million from the school district he was in charge of.

Golden Globes 2021: Complete Winners List

The 78th Annual Golden Globes Awards are in the history books. It was a weird ceremony for a weird year, occasionally marked as much by the technical difficulties that came from using Zoom and telecommunications for awards speeches as it was by the winners. And yet, what a remarkable year for the winners it was.

After the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has been roundly (and rightly) criticized for snubbing women filmmakers for year after year in the Best Director category, Chinese helmer Chloé Zhao won the Director prize for her riveting and raw Nomadland, a film which blends documentary filmmaking with narrative; Daniel Kaluuya was able to (eventually) speak about the glories of Fred Hampton to a global audience after winning Best Supporting Actor with his role in Judas and the Black Messiah; Borat 2 is now a “Best Picture” winner (read that sentence back and let it sink in); and while The Crown again dominated the television Drama categories, audience favorite The Queen’s Gambit picked up the Globes for Best Limited Series or Made for Television Film and Anya Taylor-Joy won for playing Beth Harmon.

Perhaps the most memorable element of the night though is the incredibly moving speech by Taylor Simone Ledward, who accepted on behalf of her late husband Chadwick Boseman. The Black Panther star won a posthumous Best Actor – Drama prize for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and his wife’s comments celebrate a remarkable talent, and man, who was lost too soon.

FOM BLOG: GILLINGHAM 1-1 COVENTRY CITY (GILLINGHAM WIN 5-4 ON PENALTIES) - LEAGUE CUP SECOND ROUND

My Thoughts On Gillingham V Coventry City In The Second Round Of The League Cup

Earlier on in the day, I had uploaded the clip of Gillingham’s Famous 1-0 win against Coventry City at Highfield Road back in The 1996 / 1997 Season when Neil Smith scored the only goal of the game to knock Coventry City out of The League Cup, and this was back when Coventry City were A Premier League Side As Well (And if you want to watch highlights of that famous win, then here is the link… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXGUvvEEXJc&feature=emb_logo) - This match was the last time that Gillingham and Coventry City meet in The League Cup, and I was hoping that Gillingham can replicate that win against Coventry City and reach The Third Round Of The League Cup, where Gillingham will play against Wolves or Stoke City Away - And we now know that Gillingham will be playing against Stoke City In The Third Round Of The League Cup.

This match was also Gillingham’s Fourth Home Match in a row, With Gillingham having started the season with The League Cup First Round Tie Against Southend United, before winning 2-1 against Crawley Town In The Opening Group Stage Match Of The Football League Trophy, And Gillingham also lost the opening League One Fixture of the season with A 2-0 Home Defeat Against Hull City, And I was hoping that Gillingham would respond from that disappointing defeat and win against Coventry City to reach The Third Round Of The League Cup - It is also worth nothing that this is the first time in Gillingham’s History where Gillingham have played four successive home fixtures in a row, It’s just a shame that us supporters cannot be inside Priestfield Stadium to watch Gillingham Play.

Eventually, Gillingham’s Team News Appeared On Social Media, And Gillingham Lined Up As Follows….. Jack Bonham, Ryan Jackson, Christian Maghoma, Jack Tucker, Connor Ogilvie, Scott Robertson, Matty Willock, Stuart O’Keefe, Alex MacDonald, Jordan Graham, Vadaine Oliver SUBS: Joe Walsh (GK), Zech Medley, Robbie McKenzie, Jacob Mellis, Henry Woods, Trae Coyle, John Akinde - I had put my team-sheet online earlier, And I thought Gillingham were going to line up with a back five with Ryan Jackson and Connor Ogilvie as wing backs, And that clearly was not the case, Because Gillingham will either line up with A 4-3-3 Formation with Jordan Graham and Alex MacDonald on the flanks, and Vadaine Oliver as the central striker, Or, Gillingham lined up with A 4-4-2 Diamond Midfield Formation - And when the teams did eventually line up before kick off, we found out that Gillingham were in-fact lining up with a diamond midfield formation.

Steve Evans has been down-playing the importance of the cup matches in his pre-match press conference, And perhaps the financial incentive of a good cup run in The League Cup is not there for this season because supporters cannot be there inside football stadiums to watch the game live, and it is from gate revenue from where teams make the most revenue in this competition, But after putting in such a disappointing performance against Hull City and Gillingham lost 2-0 in the opening league game of the season, then it is important that Gillingham respond with a much improved performance against Coventry City, and winning against Coventry City In The Second Round Of The League Cup would be a massive confidence boost for the players, Because Coventry City are A Championship Club after all, and winning against Higher League Opposition In A Cup Match, could well give the players a lift heading into The League One Match Against Wigan Athletic On Saturday.

MATCH DETAILS (FIRST HALF HIGHLIGHTS)

Coventry City almost take the lead in the tenth minute of the match, Michael Rose passes the ball inside to Ben Sheaf in a central area of the pitch just on the halfway line, And Ben Sheaf passes the ball back to Declan Drysdale, who gets the ball under control and passes the ball forwards to Josh Eccles, and Josh Eccles lays the ball off to Will Bapaga, Who passes the ball back to Ben Sheaf, And Ben Sheaf gets the ball under control before passing the ball out-wide to Fankaty Dabo, And Fankaty Dabo uses his pace down the right side of the pitch - Gillingham’s Left - to take on Connor Ogilvie, And Fankaty Dabo fires a low cross across Gillingham’s Penalty Area and Tyler Walker mis-kicks his shot, and Scott Robertson manages to put in a block tackle before Tyler Walker is penalised for his challenge on Connor Ogilvie.

Fourteen Minutes Into The Match, And Coventry City really should have opened the scoring, Declan Drysdale passes the ball square to Michael Rose, who takes one touch to control the ball, and another touch to thread through a fantastic through-ball through to Amadou Bakayoko, and Amadou Bakayoko is through on goal inside Gillingham’s Penalty Area, And Amadou Bakayoko takes one touch to control the ball before trying to pick out the bottom left corner of the net with his effort on goal, And Jack Bonham gets the faintest of touches on the ball to divert the ball around the post at the expense of conceding a corner kick, If you were A Coventry City Supporter watching that goal-scoring opportunity, you will be expecting Amadou Bakayoko to stick the ball into the back of the net for 1-0, But from A Gillingham Point Of View, Christian Maghoma and Jack Tucker should have done much better and both defenders should have been more alert to prevent Amadou Bakayoko from getting on the end of Michael Rose’s Through-Ball, And from the resulting corner kick, Gillingham came close to conceding again, As Will Bapaga’s driven effort towards goal from the edge of Gillingham’s Penalty Area hits Vadaine Oliver, And Jack Bonham has to dive on to the loose ball to make a very important save for The Gills.

And In The Eighteenth Minute Of The Match, Gillingham have not learned there lesson from the missed goal-scoring opportunity from Amadou Bakayoko, Because Coventry City really should have scored again, Brandon Mason has possession of the ball in Coventry City’s own final third, And Brandon Mason passes the ball forwards towards Will Bapaga in Gillingham’s Half Of The Pitch, And Will Bapaga takes one touch to control the ball and after touch to thread through the perfect through-ball through to Tyler Walker, And Tyler Walker is through one on one with Jack Bonham and Tyler Walker tries to pick out the bottom left corner of the net with a first time finish, but Tyler Walker’s Effort on goal hits the base of the post and the ball ricochets straight back into Jack Bonham’s Hands, So not only were we fortunate that Tyler Walker saw his effort on goal hit the post, but we were also fortunate that the ball ricocheted back towards Jack Bonham and there was no re-bound for Coventry City to open the scoring.

Twenty Eight Minutes Into The Match, And Gillingham have bene awarded a free kick, Stuart O’Keefe has possession of the ball for The Gills down the left side of the pitch, And Stuart O’Keefe passes the ball back to Connor Ogilvie, who takes a touch to control the ball before kicking the ball long down-field towards Vadaine Oliver, And Vadaine Oliver is pushed in the back by Jordan Thompson, And Gillingham have been awarded a free kick twenty five yards from goal, And From The Resulting Free Kick, Jordan Graham has curled the ball over Coventry City’s Defensive Wall, And Jordan Graham has curled the ball over the crossbar as well - A Chance For Gillingham to take the lead against Coventry City, Which would have been a goal against the run of play - Because Tyler Walker and Amadou Bakayoko should have both scored there goal-scoring opportunities for Coventry City, and had they done so, then 2-0 for the visitor’s would have given Gillingham a real uphill battle to try and level this match up at 2-2.

Thirty Nine Minutes Into The Match, And Stuart O’Keefe is penalised for his challenge on Fankaty Dabo down the left side of the pitch just in Gillingham’s Half, And From The Resulting Free Kick, Ben Sheaf whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross right into the heart of Gillingham’s Penalty Area, And the ball bounces up off the turf and the ball ricochets off Jordan Thompson and back across the face of goal and Tyler Walker’s Header towards goal does hit Jack Tucker on the arm and Jack Bonham does in-fact dive on to the loose ball and Coventry City have there penalty appeals for hand-ball turned down by Referee Craig Hicks - And Coventry City maybe had a case for a penalty kick there - But also, It has to be mentioned that Gillingham could and perhaps should have defended that free kick much better then we did, Gillingham shouldn’t be allowing the ball to ricochet back towards Tyler Walker and there have been small lapses of concentration which thankfully have not been capitalised on from the visitor’s.

However, Forty One Minutes Into The Match, And Amadou Bakayoko’s late challenge on Stuart O’Keefe is reckless, and you can tell from the way Stuart O’Keefe fell to the floor and how he was screaming in agony that this injury was not looking good for Stuart O’Keefe, who had to be stretchered off the pitch and taken to hospital, And Amadou Bakayoko was booked for that challenge on Stuart O’Keefe, and there was a long stoppage in play whilst Stuart O’Keefe was being given initial treatment, before being taken off the pitch and taken to hospital, Jacob Mellis will come on to replace Stuart O’Keefe, and that injury does not look good at all, At the time, we were hoping that Stuart O’Keefe’s Injury looked worse then it was and we were hoping for a speedy recovery for Stuart O’Keefe, whilst at the same-time, hoping that Gillingham can progress into The Third Round Of The League Cup with a win against Coventry City.

Jordan Graham also went down injured requiring treatment for The Gills in stoppage time, thankfully, Jordan Graham was OK to continue playing for The Gills, and after seven additional minutes of stoppage time, half time at Priestfield Stadium Is Gillingham 0-0 Coventry City, And I wrote the following comments on Twitter At Half Time, HT: GILLINGHAM 0-0 COVENTRY - Bakayoko has seen his effort on goal turned around the post by Bonham and Walker has seen his effort on goal hit the post for the visitor's, Vadaine Oliver has been exceptional for Gillingham in the first half, constantly winning the aerial battle. Jordan Graham has failed to hit the target from a free kick, Scott Robertson looks like he is only going to get better the more matches he plays for Gillingham. But the main concern has to be Stuart O'Keefe's Injury, that injury looks really bad with O'Keefe stretchered off.

SECOND HALF (HIGHLIGHTS)

Fifty Seven Minutes Into The Match, And Maxime Biamou replaces Will Bapaga because Will Bapaga picked up a shoulder injury, And this enforced substituted turned into a inspired substitution, Because It is Maxime Biamou who opens the scoring for Coventry City just past the hour mark, Brandon Mason runs forwards in possession of the ball down the left side of the pitch, and passes the ball forwards to Tyler Walker, who gets the ball under control and passes the ball back to Josh Eccles, And Josh Eccles takes a few touches in possession of the ball before managing to pick out Brandon Mason with a accurate pass down the left side of the pitch in Gillingham’s Final Third, And Brandon Mason manages to whip in a sensational in-swinging cross and Maxime Biamou manages to header the ball into the far right corner of the net, and there is nothing that Jack Bonham can do about that, great cross from Brandon Mason and a great header from Maxime Biamou.

You have to say that Gillingham have been fortunate that Amadou Bakayoko and Tyler Walker both did not take there chances in the first half, Because although Gillingham are 1-0 down and it is disappointing that Gillingham have just conceded the opening goal of the game, we are still in this cup tie, And after conceding that goal, Steve Evans was quick to make Gillingham’s Second Substitution Of The Match, With Robbie McKenzie coming on to replace Alex MacDonald, It appears that Robbie McKenzie will be playing at the base of the diamond midfield, And Scott Robertson will be pushed forwards into central midfield.

And Scott Robertson moving further forwards into central midfield, almost see’s Gillingham score the equaliser In The Sixty Fourth Minute, Scott Robertson manages to pass the ball forwards to Jacob Mellis in Coventry City’s Final Third In A Central Area On The Pitch, And Jacob Mellis flicks the ball back into Scott Robertson’s Path with a back-heal, And Ben Sheaf looked liked he had intercepted the ball and the chance had gone, But Scott Robertson manages to regain possession of the ball with a interception of his own before firing a fiercely driven effort towards goal from the edge of Coventry City’s Penalty Area, And Scott Robertson’s driven effort towards goal flashes just wide of the far left post with Tom Billson well and truly beaten, and Gillingham would have equalised had that effort from Scott Robertson been on target.

Sixty Seven Minutes Into The Match, And Coventry City really should have scored again, which would have surely secured The Championship Club safe passage into The Third Round Of The League Cup, Josh Eccles was seeing more possession of the ball in central midfield, And Josh Eccles manages to pick out Fankaty Dabo with a accurate cross-field pass towards the right side of the pitch - Gillingham’s Left - And Fankaty Dabo passes the ball down the line towards Amadou Bakayoko, who gets the ball under control and Amadou Bakayoko fires a low cross across Gillingham’s Penalty Area towards the near post and Tyler Walker’s Snap-Shot Effort goes into the side netting, and that really was the chance for Coventry City to make the score-line 2-0.

OTHER MATCH INCIDENTS WHICH WERE NOT SHOWN ON EXTENDED HIGHLIGHTS

FIRST HALF

First Minute Of The Match Almost See’s Coventry City Open the scoring, as Fankaty Dabo manages to pick out Will Bapaga with a dangerous in-swinging cross, and thankfully, Will Bapaga cannot direct his volley on target and that was a huge let off for The Gills, Coventry City were lining up with three centre backs and Fankaty Dabo was playing as A Left Wing Back For Coventry City, And you can tell from the opening minute of the match that Fankaty Dabo has free licence to attack down Coventry City’s Left Flank For The Visitor’s.

In The Third Minute Of The Match, And Coventry City were looking to open the scoring in the same minute that Hull City opened the scoring in for Saturday’s League Fixture, Again, Fankaty Dabo has managed to take on Connor Ogilvie and whip in a dangerous in-swinging cross towards the back-stick, and although Amadou Bakayoko does in-fact manage to win the aerial battle at the far post, Amadou Bakayoko can only header the ball out of play for A Gillingham Goal-Kick.

Twelve Minutes Into The Match, Fankaty Dabo tries to pick out Tyler Walker with a long diagonal cross-field cross pass and Christian Maghoma manages to header the ball clear and away from danger - But The Coventry City Striker was flagged for offside, Brandon Mason is penalised for his challenge on Matty Willock In The Nineteenth Minute Of The Match, And From The Resulting Free Kick, Scott Robertson whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Jack Tucker’s Header was on target and saved by Goalkeeper Tom Billson - Who was making his debut in goal for Coventry City in this League Cup Second Round Match.

Twenty Five Minutes Into The Match, And Will Bapaga had gone to ground to try and win a free kick for Coventry City, Only For Gillingham to be awarded a free kick because Will Bapaga had dived to try and win a free kick for Coventry City, However, Will Bapaga was booked just minutes earlier for his challenge on Scott Robertson, and Referee Craig Hicks perhaps could have shown Craig Hicks A Second Yellow Card for simulation there.

Jordan Graham almost manages to pick out Vadaine Oliver with a dangerous in-swinging cross which is saved by Tom Billson, It has to be mentioned that Vadaine Oliver’s Performance in the first half was exceptional, Because Vadaine Oliver was constantly winning the aerial battle, brining players into play, Vadaine Oliver won the free kick which Jordan Graham came close to scoring from, and he has lead the line brilliantly for The Gills.

SECOND HALF

The first noteworthy moment of The Second Half See’s Scott Robertson almost pick out Vadaine Oliver with a long pass which is slightly over-hit and the ball runs all the way through to Tom Billson In The Coventry City Goal, Scott Robertson is then penalised and booked for his challenge on Will Bapaga right on the very edge of Gillingham’s Penalty Area, and this free kick is central and precisely where you want the free kick to be if your looking to open the scoring, thankfully, Ben Sheaf’s Curling Effort towards goal is straight at Jack Bonham and exactly where Jack Bonham wanted the ball to be for Bonham to make a comfortable save, either side of The Gillingham Goalkeeper and Ben Sheaf would have opened the scoring for Coventry City.

When play resumed, Fankaty Dabo is then penalised for his foul on Connor Ogilvie down the left side of the pitch in Coventry City’s Final Third, And having almost conceded at one end of the pitch, Gillingham have the chance to open the scoring from this free kick, and from the resulting free kick, Jordan Graham whips in a sensational in-swinging cross and Christian Maghoma fails to hit the target with a glancing header, and had Christian Maghoma managed to header the ball on target then Gillingham would have taken the lead - Christian Maghoma and Vadaine Oliver had appealed for A Gillingham Corner Kick, Because they both thought that the final touch came off A Coventry City Player, But A Goal-Kick was awarded instead.

Fifty Two Minutes Into The Match, And Gillingham had the chance to open the scoring, Scott Robertson tries to pick out the bottom left corner of the net with his fiercely driven effort towards goal, And Scott Robertson’s Low Effort On Goal just goes wide of Coventry City’s Far Left Post, although it has to be mentioned that Tom Billson probably had that effort on goal covered if Scott Robertson had managed to hit the target.

Sixty Eight Minutes Into The Match, And Ben Sheaf tee’s up Josh Eccles to try his luck from twenty yards out, But Josh Eccles driven effort towards the bottom left corner of the net fails to hit the target by some considerable distance, Connor Ogilvie then goes down with a injury and requires some treatment, And we were perhaps expecting Connor Ogilvie to be substituted, But Trae Coyle comes on to replace Matty Willock In The Seventy Second Minute, So we are perhaps anticipating that Connor Ogilvie will be OK to continue playing, But also, Gillingham look like they have switched formations to A 4-3-3 Formation, With McKenzie, Robertson and Mellis In Midfield, Graham On The Right, Coyle On The Left, And Oliver as the isolated striker, Graham and Oliver linked up superbly well in the first half, But that just has not been the case for The Second Half.

In The Seventy Third Minute Of The Match, Coventry City really should have scored, As Brandon Mason fires in a low cross across the face of goal, and neither Tyler Walker or Maxime Biamou can get a telling connection on the ball to stick the ball into the back of the net, And Gillingham are still in this cup tie with a slender 1-0 deficit, All Gillingham need is one chance to stick the ball into the back of the net, and if Gillingham can do that, then The Gills will be back on level terms.

Seventy Eight Minutes Into The Match, And Scott Robertson was very harshly penalised for a challenge on Michael Rose, And this free kick awarded in Coventry City’s Favour was very soft indeed, and from the resulting free kick, Ben Sheaf’s dangerous in-swinging cross is routinely saved by Jack Bonham, And in the same minute, Amadou Bakayoko is penalised for a very reckless challenge on Connor Ogilvie, As Connor Ogilvie goes on a sprinting run down the left side of the pitch, And Amadou Bakayoko can consider himself very lucky not to have been sent off for a second bookable offence for conceding that free kick, Coventry City then make there second substitution of the match as Jack Burroughs comes on to replace Fankaty Dabo, And Coventry City are now looking to see out the rest of this match and look to scrap through with A 1-0 Win - Unless Gillingham can do something to change that with ten minutes and stoppage time remaining.

Brandon Mason is then penalised and booked for a foul on Jordan Graham, And Gillingham have been awarded a free kick in a very decent position down the right side of the pitch in Coventry City’s Final Third, And From The Resulting Free Kick, Jordan Graham whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross and Michael Rose manages to header the ball clear and away from danger, And Trae Coyle manages to keep the ball play down the left flank, And Trae Coyle passes the ball back to Connor Ogilvie, who takes a touch to control the ball, and Connor Ogilvie’s Long Ball Towards Vadaine Oliver is saved by Tom Billson In The Coventry City Goal, Two Minutes Later, And In The Eighty Third Minute Of The Match, Scott Robertson tries to pick out Vadaine Oliver with a long ball and again Tom Billson is in the right place at the right time to save the long ball in The Coventry City Goal.

Eighty Four Minutes Into The Match, And Christian Maghoma goes down injured and requires treatment, Thankfully, Christian Maghoma Is OK to continue playing, But Gillingham have a few players out there on the pitch in Jordan Graham, Scott Robertson, Connor Ogilvie and Christian Maghoma who have picked up a few knocks and each player has required treatment in this match as well.

Eighty Eight Minutes Into The Match, And Vadaine Oliver receives possession of the ball thirty yards from goal, And Vadaine Oliver turns and runs forwards towards goal in possession of the ball, And Vadaine Oliver’s driven effort towards goal fails to hit the target by some considerable distance, But that was a shot that Vadaine Oliver had to take on, If that effort on goal from Oliver was the equaliser, we would be praising him for a fantastic strike, Unfortunately, It is looking increasingly likely that Gillingham will lose this League Cup Second Round Tie.

But In The Ninetieth Minute, Scott Robertson was fouled by Josh Eccles just outside Coventry City’s Penalty Area, And Gillingham have been awarded a free kick within shooting territory here, COME ON JORDAN GRAHAM!!!! Was My Response, As I was anticipating a late equaliser from Jordan Graham from this free kick, But much to my and every Gillingham Supporters Irritation, The Gills completely wasted that free kick by not taking the shot on, And I thought that was it.

But In The Ninety Fourth Minute Of The Match, Gillingham do in-fact manage to create one final goal-scoring opportunity, Jacob Mellis passes the ball square to Ryan Jackson in a right / central area of the pitch in Gillingham’s Half Of The Pitch, And Ryan Jackson runs forwards in possession of the ball, and Ryan Jackson takes a very heavy touch, But Ryan Jackson gets a lucky ricochet off Brandon Mason, And Ryan Jackson still has possession of the ball in Coventry City’s Final Third, And Ryan Jackson could thread the ball through to Jordan Graham, But Ryan Jackson whips in a dangerous in-swinging cross towards the far post and Michael Rose has been penalised for shirt-pulling Vadaine Oliver’s Shirt - AND REFEREE CRAIG HICKS POINTS TO THE PENALTY SPOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And up steps Jordan Graham to take the resulting penalty kick for The Gills, “COME ON GRAHAM, COME ON” Was My Response, And Jordan Graham smashes the ball into the far left corner of the net with Tom Billson diving to the opposite side of the goal, AND GILLINGHAM HAVE EQUALISED DEEP INTO STOPPAGE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!, And let’s give full credit to Jordan Graham for that penalty kick, Because that was a huge penalty in the final moments of this League Cup Second Round Tie, And Gillingham have taken this League Cup Second Round Tie To Penalties.

Whatever happens in this penalty shoot-out now, Well Done Gillingham for not going out of this competition on a low note, Not scoring for two matches in a row would be particularly concerning and Gillingham have at least avoided defeat against Coventry City, But penalties are a lottery and anything can happen when it comes to penalty kicks, If Gillingham don’t score a penalty in this penalty shoot-out, at least let it be the case that Tom Billson has made a save, rather then smashing the ball wide or over the crossbar, Interestingly, both teams are heading towards The Brian Moore Stand for this penalty shoot-out, And Coventry City are the team to go first, And there could well be some psychological pressure put on The Gills here, Because If Coventry City Score, Then Gillingham have to score just to remain at level pegging.

PENALTY KICKS

1-0 - Coventry City - Tyler Walker accurately places the ball into the bottom right corner, with Jack Bonham diving to the opposite side of the goal.

1-1 - Gillingham - Connor Ogilvie places the ball into the bottom right corner of the net, no chance for Tom Billson,

2-1 Coventry City - Maxime Biamou places the ball into a more central / right position of the goal with Jack Bonham diving to the opposite side of the goal.

2-2 - Gillingham - Jordan Graham whips the ball into the far right corner of the net with Tom Billson diving to the opposite side of the goal - So pleasing to see Jordan Graham score from the penalty spot, with Jordan Graham scoring that late equaliser for Gillingham in second half stoppage time.

3-2 - Coventry City - Ben Sheaf accurately places the ball into the far left corner of the net, And Jack Bonham dived the right way and almost saved Ben Sheaf’s Penalty Kick.

3-3 Gillingham - Scott Robertson shows unbelievable composure to dink the ball down the centre of the goal with Tom Billson diving towards the bottom right corner, Great Penalty From Scott Robertson.

3-3 Coventry City - MISS!!!!! - Michael Rose has smashed the ball over the crossbar and Jack Bonham was not required to make a save - A Opportunity has opened up for Gillingham to reach The Third Round Of The League Cup.

3-4 Gillingham - Jacob Mellis has just smashed the ball into the top left corner of the net and there is absolutely nothing that Tom Billson could have done about that - Fantastic Penalty Kick From Jacob Mellis, and the best penalty kick in this penalty shoot-out.

All five of Gillingham’s Penalties In The Penalty Shoot-Out were well taken penalty kicks in a high pressurised scenario, And I cannot remember the last time Gillingham scored five penalties out of five, It’s just such a shame that we as supporters cannot go to Stoke City Away For The League Cup Third Round Tie, Because I haven’t been to Stoke City’s Stadium Before and it would have been great to tick off a new stadium as well, and the winners of Stoke City V Gillingham will travel to Aston Villa V Bristol City, As The Fourth Round Of The League Cup Was Drawn On Thursday Night, Again, the possibility of Gillingham playing against Aston Villa at Villa Park with that match being played under the floodlights, that would have been an incredible game to go to, assuming that Gillingham win against Stoke City and Aston Villa win against Bristol City of course.

I also thought that Jordan Graham and Vadaine Oliver worked well as a front two, And Vadaine Oliver was exceptional against Coventry City, Oliver won every header, he brought other players into play, And Vadaine Oliver was fouled deep into stoppage time for Jordan Graham to score Gillingham’s Equaliser From The Penalty Spot, And based from what I saw in that performance, Vadaine Oliver has to start for Gillingham against Wigan Athletic, And John Akinde has to earn his spot back in The Starting Line Up, Because Vadaine Oliver was exceptional against Coventry City.

As for prize money in The League Cup, It’s £5,000 Round 1, £7,000 Round 2, And £10,000 for winning in The Third Round, But we are missing out on gate revenue, Gillingham would have collected two lots of 45% of gate revenue for the matches against Southend United and Coventry City, And we would have got more gate revenue for the third round as well, whether the prize money is the same for this season, I am not entirely sure, But no supporters inside football stadiums means that we miss out on the revenue you normally get for a decent cup run in The League Cup.

I wanted to see Gillingham respond from that disappointing 2-0 defeat against Hull City on the opening day of The League One Season by putting in a performance and getting a result against Coventry City, and that is precisely what Gillingham have done, and two home wins, a penalty shoot-out win against Coventry City, And A 2-0 Defeat Against Hull City is a very respectable start to Gillingham’s Home Form For The 2020 / 2021 Season, Hopefully, Gillingham can pick up there first win in there opening away league game of the season against Wigan Athletic, Because Away Wins were few and far between for Gillingham Last Season, And A Win Against Wigan Athletic would be a great way for Gillingham to kick-start there Away Form for this season - COME ON THE GILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
