Every time I look on your blog you do an amazing job at whatever hobby/craft you’re doing, and this time ITS DOLL CUSTOMIZING I’m genuinely so happy also EXTREMELY IMPRESSED!! They look so good I need to read your story and lore
THANK YOU ;-; it means a lot!! i really enjoy working on all kinds of things and getting fresh crafts on my table as often as possible haha.
alsoooo if you are interested in the story and lore of Alliacea, i do have a write up explaining the setting that I can go ahead and share below! its unfinished and a little messy but it explains the core ideas and plot.
Tumblr media
main characters Bohai, Lamerei, Begonia, Mrysin, Pacific, and Mansoa.
Alliacea is about a magic island in an oceanic pocket realm inhabited by islanders that embody characteristic parts of the environment like the tides, the forest canopy, flowers, birds, etc. The main character, Mansoa, ends up on the island as an early teen after being physically lost at sea and emotionally unsure of her sense of self simultaneously while confronting the idea of an early death. This led to her being ""lost in more ways than one"", which is the critical requirement to arrive at Alliacea. Now in her 20’s, she remains a regular human, unclaimed by any part of the island.
This provides a clash since if you end up on Alliacea and you cant fit in, the island finds a place for you by converting you into a part of it, such as morphing you slowly into a rock, fruit tree, flock of birds, etc, forcing you to find balance and peace. Most inhabitants are able to reach acceptance before this process is completed. However, Mansoa found a way to stay on the island by making her own role as the outsider. Her custom ecological niche as an odd man out worked for years, but over time it caused progressive problems. Namely as Mansoa shifts out of adolescence and into her full adulthood, she has to confront the long term sustainability of her sense of self being defined solely as “different”.
The conflict between Alliacea wanting to make everyone a part of it, and Mansoa's place being distinctly not a part of it, causes the island to begin eroding. Rifts form in the main island, plants struggle to grow, the tide swells and becomes violent as the island slowly begins to sink until the paradox can be resolved.
Mansoa must understand why Alliacea is beginning to come undone, and subsequently how to solve it as the other avatar islanders work to quell their respective elements. This poses a uniquely difficult challenge for the co-lead, Pacific as his element is the tide, the primary threat to the island. Pacific had a similar role to Mansoa, as he struggled to fit in with the community and often preferred isolation. However this was less of a behavior he adapted because he didn't belong and more his method of managing his intense fear of other people, which he understood well and accepted long ago. Pacific had previously kept to himself in the tides, coming out occasionally to socialize with his few trusted close friends (namely Mansoa, Begonia, and Bohai.) However his overwhelming fear of people is part of why the ocean becomes so turbulent, and in order to thwart the primary threat to the island, he has to overcome that fear.
Whereas Pacific’s challenge is to solve a problem he knows/is related to his fear of people, Mansoa has a much harder task of first understanding the root cause. The island begins to fall apart after a community dinner, where as the other islanders celebrate and socialize, a deep pit begins to form within Mansoa where she realizes her approach of “I’m not like the others” is making her progressively more and more unable to connect to people and unhappy.
After the first devastating event on the island, a gate opens near the shore and an emissary of the island named Mrysin arrives. With their arrival, they provide the insight that the problems on the island must be solved by the representatives of that particular element, but the island will only get worse and worse until the main problem is solved.
The story progresses as each of the main characters, Bohai, Lamerei, Begonia, Pacific, and Manosa have to apply their unique perspectives on self acceptance to stabilize their respective elements. Bohai is the open sea, which was causing turbulent storms (manifesting his manic, bombastic, and energetic personality), Lamerei being the forest floor becoming too dense and uninhabitable (a sometimes smothering big brother nature), Begonia managing fruit and flower blooms (committing yourself towards helping others but not so much that you struggle as well).
Pacific, Mansoa, and Mrysin explore issues that are less about self acceptance, and more about changing parts of your approach to the world and your idea of self.
Pacific has to learn that his coping mechanism of avoidance and isolation is inherently unhealthy, but it doesn't mean that the alternative of forced socialization and extrovertedness is any better. He has to tackle an imposing and frightening challenge of calming the tides alone (my analogy for formidable parts of life that can only be done by you, such as living with chronic illness, work stress/responsibilities, processing past trauma, etc). However he does have to utilize his connections with others to motivate the fight, as he’s tried and failed in the past when his world was small and only included his own perspectives. He has to challenge his previously accepted way of life and adjust to a new strategy of not completely removing others from his life, but understanding how to balance letting others in without overexerting himself and accepting that bad things will happen/people will hurt you, but its still better than the alternative.
Mansoa provides the main friction as she has to understand the big picture in an art gallery she told herself never to look at. At first she believes there's a problem with the island community itself. As she tries to investigate further, she realizes more and more how isolated she let herself become from others, which is what makes her see that it was her decisive othering that is causing the clash. After realizing the problem, she attempts to integrate more with the community around her, but struggles to make sense of who she is outside of her previous way of life. She tries repeatedly to find a way to bring forward the only idea of self she’s ever known into a more social lifestyle. She fails many times and becomes frustrated and hopeless. (ie You cant make friends if your whole identity is “i dont have friends”....never minding the fact that she's had friends this whole time lol). After wondering if her failure to connect is a sign that she was never meant to be there/have friends at all, the island begins to fall into complete chaos, and is only resolved by Mansoa and Pacific fighting to keep the island’s gate whole. Eventually she realizes that the only way to move forward is to truly abandon her previous, self-centered idea of the world and herself, and adapt and accept a more humble, flexible, “being like other people isnt a bad thing” vision.

have you seen magic arcanum's video "commander has an ugly sweater problem"? I would say it enunciates pretty well a real criticism of commander that a lot of enfranchised players feel about the format. If you haven't the summary is: in much the same way that finding an ugly sweater to wear for the holidays is fun, but if everyone can find an ugly sweater at the local fast fashion store the magic of it all gets lost a bit, commander used to be about digging through the handful of legendary cards that existed to brew strange decks that took advantage of unknown synergies, but now that cards are designed specifically for commander the synergies are still as niche and interesting, but the act of finding them has been diminished
Commander started life as a niche format enjoyed by a tiny selection of players. From there it grew into the most played (we believe) tabletop format. That type of radical change is going to impact the format.
As the maker of the game, I don't know how we don't design for it. It's a widely played format that players are constantly asking us to make things for.
My point is the lament at its core is more an issue of the former than it is of the latter.

VikingPilot propaganda:
"Unreliable narrator of all time, this FUCKED UP MESS OF A GHOST has sooooo much nonsense going on and going WRONG with him. This mans starts off as a tragic character whos unable to interact with ANYONE, but once he becomes semi-corporeal and is finally able to speak to others, this results in a LOT of problems for everyone else.
To simply name a few, he phases through things and jump-scares people any chance he gets, he went to unreasonable extremes in order to acquire an I.O.U. from a very powerful person (Legundo) that ultimately accidentally results in a mini apocalypse, he gets an I.O.U. from someone else (Fixxit) and just orders him to stop Legundo at all costs?, hes ALMOST canonically plural/two people, this bitch has a fucking insane underground vault (with like twelve full sets of netherite, a dimond and netherite throne, and its just spooky as hell), He probably has the best scary laugh i’ve ever heard, and hes ALWAYS up to mischief.
Oh also he tries to do some Dark Magic but isn’t capable of going through with it due to Legundo not properly following through with his I.O.U., and he decides to remind Legundo of this in the MOST mentally well adjusted way possible ( https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxbcBe_A7YYtt2K33_Rm4V71SG0sqdnEY_ ).
Anyways thats most of the major nonsense I can think of for right now so uhhh! Enjoy the VikingPilot propaganda and please remember you are NEVER immune to Bell Noises!"
"Lovely unreliable narrator who loves jumpscaring his friends."
"quote from the ghosty boy himself. ""what do the interest rates look like on your word?"""
"he's a ghost. he has no memories. his soul got torn asunder by an evil magic book. he's trying to do a ritual from the evil magic book that split him in half so that he can get his memories back. he's a sneaky bastard who's double crossing everyone else on the server. he makes a lot of really terrible jokes. he (canonically!) says trans rights. vikingpilot you agree reblog."
"split color scheme. unreliable narrator. plural swag. committed tax fraud."
"Viking is a ghost haunting the world of Dominion SMP! For a long time, he was merely an observer— no one could see him, no one could hear him, he couldn’t interact with anything; no one knew he even existed. That was, I until the members of Dominion killed the Ender Dragon. This changed… something… in the world, and caused him to be visible, audible, and (mostly) tangible.
From there, he made a haunted graveyard, spooked people by sneaking up on them and shouting ‘Bell noises!!’, had a totally normal and not at all unhinged response to (one) asking for a favor, and (two) following up on that favor when it had not yet been kept, and he built a creepy mansion! He also plays piano!
He’s not sure how or when he died, but he feels certain that he was someone important. At some point in the time he was a ghost, he somehow got his hands on a book, which contains different rituals, and apparently, the contents of this book broke his mind, somewhat splitting it in two, and possibly being the source of his amnesia. Notably, the book contains a ritual that would allow him to regain his memories, and this has been his main objective for most of the series."
"ghost of ALL TIME. haunted his friends for months before they suddenly became able to see him. walks through walls. has world's most evil nervous laugh. knows exactly where his hinges are buried. unreliable narrator. has an underground vault full of diamonds and expensive armor, including a throne made of netherite. causes shenanigans on purpose. lived in an underground graveyard and then a haunted mansion. monologued for 11 minutes about wanting to do dark magic in order to necromancy himself and cure his amnesia. very pluralcoded. won round 1 of a sexyman bracket despite being a niche character. the most guy/ghost of all time forever"
"i haven’t actually watched dominion,,, but like. i keep seeing this funky little unreliable narrator ghost man on my dash sometimes. so fuck yeah."
"He’s just a silly little ghost guy!"

i waint to hea r your bbt things
sheldon is also not the only one whos autistic imo. im not certain of who i all headcanon as such, but i feel its a fitting one for amy and bernadette actually. i think a lot of the problems with the way sheldon's autism is written is the fact that other characters don't *respect* him about it. like his needs and behaviors are often belittled or treated as nonsensical. overall i think everyone should be much kinder and understanding about it towards him seeing as they are literally his friends and all.
also probably a nitpicky thing and a matter of my own autistic sensory preferences but i feel it makes more sense for sheldon to NOT wear his sleeves rolled up for sensory reasons. whatever though im allowed to project. also i think they missed an opportunity to explore his interest in vexillology more? like there was maybe 1 or 2 episodes i remember about it but if youve ever met a vexillology enjoyer you know its a common topic they gush about.
speaking of gushing i think the dynamic between sheldon and amy would be like. two autistic best friends who love to infodump at eachother and do parallel activities. at most maybe they have some sort of queerplatonic thing going on? but im not actually super versed in what that means despite being aromantic myself xP
oh anothet thing that bothers me is how the female characters are written as not getting any of the geeky stuff??? it's stupid. like, yeah penny isnt a nerd, but she's an aspiring actress i think she would know what a star trek is. -_- honestly like, all of them would understand a lot of those things and are probably into similar stuff. bbt seems to think that like, these are Guy interests that all women dont understand or get when in reality like, dc comics n shit like that, literally your average person can follow along so i hate that they make the women seem as if they don't understand star wars references.
obviously this is probably one of the most common complaints about the show but id love to have made a lot of the pop culture references controlled and niche. we dont need a reference every other 5 minutes, id like to define each character's interests in a more sensicle way outside of just "haha guys look theres nerd stuff on tv hahah did you guys get that reference"?
also another problem is the way howard behaves. like some episodes his behavior is like, sexual harassment at times, which is met with a laugh track every time. not cool, and unnecessary, should be written to be more respectful. and then of course id like to make him have a better view of his mother, the dynamic in the show is one based off of antisemitic stereotypes about jewish mothers, and thats shitty. i wont retcon it to be a perfect mother/son relationship, like they would definitely still bicker, but i want to potray his mother as more than nagging and obsessive, like perhaps she does care too much and doesn't always treat him as an adult at times, but i dont find a lot of the overall nastiness that happens in the show between them to be funny or interesting.
raj is a pretty okay character imho, but definitely needs to be written more respectfully. He is a major example of the trope of characters of colour being sidelined. like the fact he was the ONLY character to be single in the end of the series? its kinda fucked up lol. obviously as mentioned before i think raj x howard should be the canon outcome. howeber both of them are bisexual, they both are potrayed as having interest in women; but i also think their interest in eachother is serious, or at least should be written as such. its also probably likely that the way he's written in terms of his culture should be improved but i havent gotten around to that just yet. i also think his anxiety issues should have been written with more respect, like the fact he was physically unable to talk to girls i think shouldnt have been an issue he had with *just* women. it seems they were trying to potray him as having selective mutism? but obviously thats not a thing that ONLY happens when one is a around ppl they r attracted to.
bernadette im actually rlly excited to write better because she reminds me of myself at times. i will dial her mischievous nature and her interest in microbiology up to 10. i will make her infodump about prions just i do.
also imho leonard is transmasc. i dont have any like, "evidence" or theory for why i think that other than just he feels that way to me. not that we even need justifications for transgender headcanons around these parts though.
also wil wheaton will NOT be existing anymore as a character in the narrative due to the fact he blocked me on tumblr for some dumbass shit. LOL.
uh i didnt expect to actually have all that much to say about this show... LOL.. enjoy my rambling!

@kurozu501 I don't agree with that line of thinking, though not because it wouldn't work. Strictly speaking it /would/ make her S3 better and it /would/ actually have utility as a DP generator which Saga and Flametail's own "buff myself to fight" skills have, but it does nothing to fix's Siege's design problem of not being able to offer something that Saga and Flametail don't already cover.
If you gave DP gen to Siege's S3, Siege still has the issue of not having Saga and Flametail's survivability, not having Saga's SP support or Flametail's incredibly fast skill cycle time, etc. Sure Siege's S3 is more useful, but what will it give you on its own that Saga S3 won't on its own? Both will make DP and give ATK buffs to fight strong enemies, but Saga's attacks will also let allies charge SP, and Siege's S3 stun chance is too low to be reliable crowd control. I don't need Siege to be able to match what Saga and Flametail do, I want her to be as fun to play as well because she offers something that they don't.
I personally believe in balancing that emphasizes strengths first before patching weaknesses (unless the weaknesses are simply too glaring), because I value skillset diversity over true 'balance'. A game that's well balanced because everyone is roughly the same would be boring as hell. A game that can say its characters all offer something new won't be as balanced, but it would be more fun as every new unit promises a new way to play, and it means that when paired with good level design, someone's time to shine will come eventually.
As a PVE game, Arknights being fun is my far greater concern over it being balanced. Siege has been around since the launch of the game, everyone knows her S3 completely abandons the Vanguard role to offclass as a Guard, so why not go further with that idea? Rather than make it give DP, give it a big crit every time it stuns and make a stun guaranteed on a full HP enemy so Siege can crack open a 2000 DEF enemy like an egg, her answer to the question of survivability being "strong enemies can't hit me if I hit them first." (Or make each stun reduce a % of DEF to make a debuffer, make the stun longer so Siege becomes a crowd control stall Vanguard, etc etc)
Now Siege has two niches over Saga and Flametail: the convenience of her automatic S2, and her S3 being "lol test your DEF against this". S3 now involves making an interesting decision: it doesn't make DP so your DP gain isn't improved, but do I need DP to deploy a stronger unit to kill this tanky enemy if Siege can just do it herself?" Saga and Flametail's S3s are strong enough to handle many strong enemies so for many stages you'll still opt for them, but if enemies that even Bagpipe only scratches show up, Siege offers a solution other vanguards don't.
And you can say "But why do that when Bagpipe + Flagbearers can just drop NTRK / Surtr and kill anything", but Bagpipe + Flagbearers has made almost all vanguards fringe units anyway. Saga is only truly necessary when mega risk CC would instagib Myrtle, and Flametail only when her own unique brand of evasion stall is required. At least with this method of adding to her S3 with damage or stuns or debuffs, Siege can say that she offers something that Saga and Flametail don't, and while what she offers isn't /needed/ a lot, she's also uniquely and significantly good enough at it that you may remember her for it.
She already offers very high damage per hit that other vanguards can't match, I just want her to be able to accomplish most of that on her own, making the unique promise of playing Siege far more usable.
That's all I want from her.

currently watching the world rapid and blitz chess championship and its really enjoyable so far. i watched the CCT finals and it was so good so ive been super excited for this, especially seeing as i dont know much about the female chess players and ive been looking forward to using this event to get to know them.
anyway, been watching for maybe an hour, and i havent seen a single woman’s game on the main chess24 stream. checked the fide stream, and they covered one, but quickly switched back to the men’s.
on chess 24, round3, looked at board one women’s game for all of five minutes, then go back to the open. i stopped watching after that.
who knows, maybe ill eat my words, but ignoring the women’s section after creating one to help women and girls is vile. it is so ignorant and, as a girl who played a lot of chess for years, i am so disappointed and disgusted. to know that not only the individual women who are playing are being ignored, but also that they are ignoring all the girls who want to try but dont see women playing, is enough to make me rip all of my hair out.
chess is for everyone. it is ultimately an accessible sport that helps you to grow. it taught me so many skills- problem solving, the ability to lose, helped my memory. its a small thing, the ignorance of women in what is really quite a niche interest, but regardless, it is indicative of a larger problem that affects women and girls.

i just recently came to terms with the fact that i'm Like This even though i have been my whole life, and seeing your blog has made me feel so safe. that isn't the right word. comforted maybe? reinforced? i don't know, its just so nice to see people like me who like the same media as me and not posting like porn or anything. it makes me feel like im not a freak, even though i've been telling myself i am for so long (the anxieties)
i am so grateful for you, i love you (non-romantic)
if anyone gives you bullshit about it it's their problem, not you. you're amazing.
Thank you so much for this sweet message, I’m so happy that I can provide comfort & validation for others who feel the same way I do. I think we build it up in our own minds because so often we hear that you’re supposed to hate, even despise being tickled. So when we ourselves don’t conform to the majority, we feel like the outliers & freaks, & it doesn’t help when there are people online who do call you those things
But there are so many of us who have this niche interest, & just goes to show that there is no “norm” for something like this, everyone has their own preferences. Sometimes I can’t believe how many followers I actually have (I’m slowly creeping close to 2k! Like wtf thank y’all so much!)
I remember feeling so guilty & dirty when I was younger because I saw so many people trying to say it’s only a fetish, & that any enjoyment from it must be sexual. & yes, I admit there are a lot of blogs out there that are strictly nsfw, but it’s so insulting to everyone on here who doesn’t like it like that, or only appreciates that side of things under very specific circumstances. Like have you ever heard of a little thing called nuance? 😂

How I would continue mbav in comic form
disney, teletoon, fresh tv, whoever the fuck owns the rights to this, please let me have them
LONG ASS POST WARNING
we are past the days of any further mbav television content, but you know what has a much lower production cost and would fill a specific niche? a comic/graphic novel continuation >:) Teen rating because pretty much anyone who was the target audience of mbav when it was airing is late teen or older and I want the characters actions to have more consequence, basically i want to injure my protagonists
I would pick up a month or two after the lucifractor explosion, establish the new status quo, we cant really do a continuation if they all died so Ill settle for injury and property damage, including putting out main man Ethan in a half magic/half head trauma induced coma! this is kind of a cheap story beat but i cant help it I love a coma and its a good opportunity for both sarah and benny to get a little bit darker and have some interesting character development, with the most important difference being that sarah basically gets through it and refuses to compromise her morals whereas benny is very lost without ethan being his moral compass and becomes more and more reckless with magic, eventually leading to him attempting a very risky spell to wake ethan up which does work but basically has sarah and his grandma like 'wtf is wrong with you'
meanwhile erica and rory are fucking around in the states bc this would be a very fun B plot for a while before they return, if youve read the comic crowded im thinking of that kind of vibe
so anyway ethan is back up and running now and everyone is kind of trying to get back to normal but its really hard and theres a lot of residual magic causing problems and making bennys magic more powerful, and its giving ethan basically constant migranes and really vague visions and horrifying dreams and all that good 'plauged with visions' stuff.
sarah and ethan have not gone on any more dates at this point so theyre not dating but they do have this kind of romantic aspect of their relationship and they basically havent talked about it since the explosion, kind of a silent understanding of like 'i love you and i dont really care that its platonic or romantic but i just understand whats happening in a way almost no one else can and Im here for you even if now just isnt the time for us'
benny is continuing to get more reckless and kind of vengeful with his magic use, testing his limits, using magic to get back and the people making snide comments in the halls, especially after ethan comes back to school, when your best friend is in a coma for two months you get kind of defensive about it I guess. If you’re not a bethan truther I’m sorry but Ethan can have two intense friendships that border on romantic, both of which are societally non conventional/acceptable. In fact he has to. It is so good narratively. but anyway at some point there is a particularly bad incident benny gets more vindictive than ever before and hurts this guy pretty badly till ethan is yelling at him to stop
at this point ethan and sarah and grandma are like 'uhhh benny is getting kinda intense' but they dont even know the half of it because secretly he learning magic that isnt in his book, researching on his own and making stuff up. the magic itself wants him to be getting stronger, its not like sentient but it does have kind of a self preservation instinct? like a power begets power type thing that magic users can very easily be driven mad by their own magic if theyre not careful or dont have another magic user telling them to touch grass.
i think benny can have unexamined mental repercussions due to his parents having either left him or died. as a treat. so when he get magic and suddenly he can control things he couldnt before yknow who can blame him for getting kind of lost, i personally would become insane. I havent really though about the specific of him devolving and mentally deteriorating. I dont want him to be too evil yknow? bc we will be letting him get redeemed latr bc im a sucker for that.
at this point erica and rory return from their wacky adventures bc this is no time for a silly b plot. and they are like huh benny got kind of weird and different and ethan is like haha no hes fine
he is not fine
he is actually sneaking out of town to meet another magic user who is basically like 'i will act like a father figure to gain your trust' and benny is like 'epic!' yknow because he. becuase. because he has no dad :D. he gets exposed to magic that grandma doesnt do and is both scared and impressed and this other magic user is like 'she doesnt want you to learn this >:| she doesnt want you to reach your fullest potential' and benny is like 'hmm idk about that' but they keep talking until this guy is like 'arent you tired of being nice?dont you just wanna go apeshit?' but benny is still like 'hmmm my really close boy best friend probably wouldnt like that' but its too late. its already in motion.
benny gets more evil. he is causing problems in whitechapel and does not seem to care. benny be like 'thought acquired: if i control everything and destroy the things i dont like then everything will be good and i can protect my friends forever. i see no moral problems with this' more development into evil, dont ask me the details i dont know.
bennys evil girl summer culminates in some kind of fight where ethan enters his mind bc yeah obviosly thats where this has been going, idk if ive just spent to long thinking about jean grey and scott summers but this is the most interesting thing ever. i want to see ethan walking through bennys memories end of life is strange style and realizing that all of his most important memories are of them together, times that theyve comforted or protected each other and it ends with a memory of from just before they met sarah. that memory fades out and ethan is standing on the street in front of his house, so he goes up to his room and benny is there but this time its really him and not just a memory version of him and benny is like 'i dont know how it got to be like this, this isnt what i wanted, how do i fix this?' and ethan is like 'i havent given up on you, you can still come back and we can try to make it right' and they hug and they come back to reality and benny basically breaks down sobbing yeah i <3 sad boys. he has a lot of regrets. ( i have written a lot of this scene bc i am insane and obsessed)
by the next morning hes left town. only leaving a note saying he needs to go away and clear the magic out of his head. hes reversed as much of the magic he did as he could, and left ethan with a spell leaving the words 'semper reveniam ad te' on his arm that will disappear when they see each other again or if benny dies.

Blog Update / Muse Retirement
Tumblr media
//Hate that it's got to this point. Going to be a bit of a downer here so, read at your own discretion.
There is little to say really. Like many people here, I use RP as a form of escapism to my own stress and life. It makes me genuinely happy to get into character and forget about problems for a while.
These past weeks I have been in dire need of RP more than I had in a very long time. An awful timing really, to hit a slump in interactions.
I did my homework, I tried to network. I reached out. A few became welcome and beautiful mutuals, but many, many many others unfortunately did not. At my age, I tell myself I can handle rejection well, but that is only true to a certain degree. Even if I don't let these feelings impact my routine and real life, they are there nonetheless. And I don't want them to be.
After doing research on how to help with the situation, I have reached the conclusion that I have been in denial just how much my choice to make a multimuse blog has come back to bite me in the ass. Things like anonymous RP confessions say it like it is: multimuse blogs are stigmatized and often passed on without a chance given.
We are considered to be unorganized, lack commitment, and not provide the muses we put in our roster we asked. Personally, I thought multimuse was an excellent idea. I thought that making single blogs muses for such niche fandoms would lead to no activity, since my pool of potential partners would be smaller. I thought a multimuse would equal to fish with a net rather than a rod.
I was wrong, haha.
I can be super organized and tag every post with its fandom; I can provide all the tools for my followers to blacklist fandoms they are not interested in; I can commit to respond to any muse in my roster one may ask for. All this hard work won't amount to anything to those who just look at a number and decide I do none of those things without actually giving me a chance to prove them wrong.
So what is it that I can do? Create single muse blogs. The idea of having to log out and log in from tumblr for each individual muse to check notifications, reblog memes and post replies seems like even more work than what I already am doing, but if it is what gets mutuals, then so be it.
I feel like I have lost a fight here, but RP is a hobby, my favorite hobby, and it shouldn't be making me miserable.
So what is the TLDR? Do not panic. This blog isn't going anywhere anytime soon. But I will be slowly retiring muses that haven't gotten any engagement in months. Those I care to keep will get their own blog, and when those are set up and running, I will update you and provide links for anyone interested.
We are talking about an endeavor that will take months, so do not throw me away as a mutual just yet. This blog will stay up and running until everything else is set up properly. I have over 1500 posts to scan through and decide whether to transfer or not (I hate to leave my own writing behind, I like to go back and reread these threads for my own enjoyment).
In the meantime, I hope to still RP with everyone here. If you want to make sure I update you regarding a specific muse getting their own blog, DM me and I'll write a memo to do so. Just know that it is a long term project.
Thanks to all of my new mutuals and the old ones who have stuck around. You guys are keeping me sane everyday and trust me, this is less of an overstatement than it sounds.

After reading your recent posts about wanting to distance yourself from homestuck eventually makes me feel bad too send asks because it means more homestuck is being streamlined to you
About a year ago i dropped homestuck after losing interest once again (this happens on and off) and only got into it recently because i currently can't really play video games at the moment so i ended up returning to homestuck. I think a big reason why i can get back into it so easily is because its FREE all you need is an internet connection and you get the massive amount of content from the comic and fandom, there's just soo much too engaged with even if it's not all good. Despite all my problems with Homestuck i still do like it but one thing i wish is What Pumpkin would just let it go, HS2 and Hiveswap are dumpster fires. It feels like they're milking a dead cow, this series would be better off if the poor decision making stopped at the comic itself. I just want it to be left untouched by a company and have it be supported by the love of the fanbase. I'm homestucked out but i like the character enough and shipping them as well will probably keep me hooked for awhile.
I guess I'll throw in what i was originally going too say anyway. I think homestuck took a massive drop in writing quality after murderstuck. Like why is everyone just standing on the meteor? You guys aren't going to get more serious after all that? Was there any reason as to why no one could've texted John or Jade while separated? I genuinely don't remember there being a reason. I thought Kanaya coming back to life was stupid, the Gamzee and Terezi thing gross, Rose being an alcoholic then drunk making out with Kanaya also being gross, Karkat and Dave being bystanding asshole during all this, Wayward Vagabond being practically a stuffed animal, like what is this? After murderstuck you could definitely feel the decline but there where some decent moments spread out afterwards with Caliborn being the main one stealing the show. I think Hussie really liked Caliborn, you can tell he had so much fun writing him. I like to believe Hussie went wild with Caliborn because he could get away with all the edgy stupid stuff with him because he's a villain, Hussie had obviously gave into the demands of the fans and i think even he got tired of it, Caliborn was the perfect blank slate for him to have some real freedom in writing again, Caliborns character is really in line with Hussies older sense of humor. Despite still giving into demands every other time, Caliborn got too be want Hussie actually wanted. Oooh Caliborn how you almost saved Homestuck, at least you get to be the best character in the end.
It's fine to still send asks about Homestuck here. Moving on doesn't happen overnight and I'm often sticking around more to speak out about the flaws. From the series itself, the fandom, or the current culture that surrounds it. It can be applied to other groups like those who like anime, comics, video games, etc. Homestuck is just one niche I focus on because I'm familiar with it. There are many other people online that talk about these similar topics that do it better than I ever could. But I agree that WhatPumpkin should just let the base webcomic end just there. No need to focus more on Epilogues, Homestuck^2, or Homestuck Beyond Canon. Let people interpret their own endings. Homestuck may not have been able to leave a mark in media history like what Undertale or FNAF did, but it's better to let it end there as it is. The story really felt going down after Murderstuck. Cascade was probably the only greatest thing left behind. Then Act 6 kicked in. There are many plot holes and questions to be raised about it. From things like why can't Dave/Rose or the other living trolls on the meteor use Trollian or any of their communication devices like they had before? There's nothing said about their travel to the Alpha Session will block communication between the two parties. I hate how Dave and Karkat stood on the sidelines as Rose/Kanaya and Gamzee/Terezi go through hell with their problems. Why wasn't Wayward Vagabond doing more to try and communicate with the others? Can Town and being a mayor is his dream, but we have seen him become a leader of his own to his own people. WV had communicate with John to act as his Exile, so why not the same with Dave, Rose, and the other living trolls? Where was he when the others went into the Dream Bubbles? Carapacians are not allowed there? Is still on the meteor to 'protect' the base? Was that the only time they left him alone like he was some housepet? Wouldn't it be better to have Wayward Vagabond that's now revived, stay on the Prospitian ship that John and Jade were on so that they could be with Dave and Rose? Wayward Vagabond would have a better time to try and get all the Carapacians to be ready when they arrived in the Alpha session. Where were the Carapacians by Post Retcon and Collide? By Post Retcon, the ones on the Prospitian ship and those with Roxy should be alive by then. Casey also was there to summon undead consorts during Jake vs The Felt fight. Wouldn't that mean the other consorts were still there Prospitian ship that John and Jade were on, could have joined the battle? There are too many plot holes and vague answers still around because of Act 6 and Post Retcon that it makes people question the quality and how the story was leading up to this. I do believe as well that Caliborn was the only way for Hussie to let himself use his old edgey humor. Dave and Dirk were there, but those two had their character development and he needed another being to stand in his place. Other characters that fit would have been dead and he had to come with some bullshit reason to bring them back. So it's better to make an original OC than to reuse another character. Caliborn really was the best as he really made lots of changeups and excitement to the series. If not only in narrative standpoint, but also in meta in the sense that he was able to change the website readers would be on. You had to be there with old flash to see him banging on the console that the link and panel you were trying to read, shook with every hit and everything gets scrambled and falling apart. Calliope hasn't done anything like that despite that we are suppose to root for her as the good guy that will join the heroes. Caliborn is just that amazing. Act 6 may have been carried by people like Dirk and Roxy, but Caliborn flexed it up high like Atlas did with the World.

spoilery thoughts after finishing Gideon the ninth (critical of certain aspects but I enjoyed it)
Gideon and harrows relationship is v clearly the best part and interesting but I feel like it could have been milked more. I would have read a whole seven book saga about these two going from hated rivals to lovers and this book gets it done in one! wtf!
the hints of worldbuilding are cool. I find it funny but also a bit odd that were introduced to the Goth house using necromancy and think ok this is what the setting is like and then it turns out actually that's just the Ninth... but everyone else is necromancers too. like vibe wise it's just a bit. it's like if in avatar everyone was a fire bender and then the fire nation was there as just guys who really love fire
there are too many bloody characters and I don't think they're sufficiently distinguished at all, or even their houses. by the end of it I could tell you off the top of my head the Second are soldiers, Eighth are priests... Fifth or something are Wardens? but I think my problems w interchangeability of characters would have been fixed if the House identities were clearer. and I guess that's also part of why 'everyone's a necromancer' felt like a weird worldbuilding choice, even when they did allude to certain niches among different houses like bones or spirits or siphoning, cus like, in another fantasy novel you would easily distinguish ur houses by picking radically different powers
the plot had interesting moments but it felt just awkward all around. I get the point is that Gideon is locked out of the loop etc but it really feels like the story lacks any kind of forward momentum, the protagonists kinda just stop doing anything after a couple challenge rooms and wait for the plot to progress of its own accord. the fact it sorta toys w murder mystery/horror but the characters are really not that interested in solving it also contributes to this sense that the actual plot is not very well structured and consists of Gideon wandering round talking to/eavesdropping on npcs to hear exposition and develop relationships. and I guess you can say 'well it's not really a mystery, it's just a story that happens to have murders' but I think that's part of the problem; if it was more of a straightforward murder mystery it would have a driving force it currently lacks
at the same time though, it's also not like this is a slow atmospheric read w little emphasis on plot. there is very much a plot but it feels like its so oriented around minute details about keys and different house members making deals that my eyes just glazed over. it felt like too much detail to comfortably just skim the gist of it, but not actually worth paying attention to the minute detail (as it might be if this were actually a murder mystery based around interpreting clues)
I feel like from the way ppl talk I was expecting this book to be absolutely chock-full of bible/theology references. which to be sure it does hav in significant ways (the Ruth quotation when Gideon dies, Canaan house, the whole resurrected God and stone in front of the tomb). but much much less than what I'd assumed from the way people talk about it, where I was kinda imagining a constant stream of characters w names like Ebenezer, Micaiah, and Mahershalalhashbaz and theological buzzwords. I was expecting jrpg levels of theological name dropping but w actual significance behind them
all in all an enjoyable book and I'm keen to start the second, but I'm not surprised it's Muir's first novel and I hope Harrow the Ninth has some more narrative momentum w a smaller cast

the people looking for celecaster from you are weird asl but at the same time if they're that sensitive to people being mean on tumblr they should have left even earlier like what were they expecting
Tumblr media
? the fact that ur sending not even just anon hate but anon hate by proxy is even more weirder than ppl who send anon concern by proxy
that aside their major issues wasnt even just ppl being mean on tumblr it was a culmination of their son dying their chronic illnesses and all their financial problems happening all at once dumbass. for a bunch of stalkers none of yall can catch up to the fucking lore????
even if it was tumblrinas being cyberbullies following a schizo with a schizoposting account where all the posts is about being schizo and getting surprised that they end up as paranoid of everyone doesnt even make u look mean it makes u look genuinely stupid. walking into the circus shocked to see a clown like r u fr.......
also im p sure if u pay attention to their posts b4 deleting they never blamed their suicide on their "audience" (what audience even? u ppl r talking abt this one person with a niche personal blog as if they are a internet celebrity influencer wtf??? i never saw their own mutuals talk 2 them much less some strangers) or to cyberbullying, they said it was bcuz dying of suicide was better than dying of a disease they felt they are run out of money to treat, and some of their posts implied they were under psychotic breaks hallucinating/delusions of either their son or one of their alters telling them to kill themselves
i have a personal concern for them bcuz of my special interest/hyperfixation so i admit i pay more attention to everything they say but its harder for me to ignore ppl like u who r "conveniently" unaware when ur actions show ur obsessed enough w/ them that u would even bother a stranger like me w/ this for me to believe this is completely unknown information 2 others. who the fuck r u even????
highkey yall r just ableist not even hiding it. all this shit would still suck balls if rolypolyphonic was hostile and attacking first of everyone but even at their worst they were only jumpy and defensive, and if this is the type of stuff they apparently got often but tried not to answer in public i understand now why they abandoned this fucking place i wouldnt even blame them if this was the "petty" reason they killed themselves. also all this shit for a schizo blog. contextualize urselves. we love and support the schizoposter until they started acting like a schizo? be fr.

Last week I started using tumblr again after years and it's like I'm rediscovering what fandom feels like.
So from the perspective of a writer in a fandom, here are 6 things I noticed that sets this space apart and why it feels like homecoming to me.
(Keep in mind my fandom is relatively small and that may be heavily influencing my positive experience.)
1. THE HASHTAGS ACTUALLY WORK
[Okay serious caveat: They only work when ya'll aren't using hashtags to write entire essays 😅 but just to put in searchable key phrases (though I LOVE the tag essays and more on that later).]
I think the hashtags work because the user base is small and there isn't a ton of spamming of tags happening. So when I look up something like "Seo Inguk" tumblr gives me every post actually about Seo Inguk and not 900 things that have nothing to do with the actor but where he's tagged anyway to increase the reach of the post (as happens on instagram and twitter where hashtags are a strategy not a real search tool).
2. THE USER BASE IS SMALL
This is probably the reason tag spamming is at a minimum here, searchability of content is high, and it's easy to find people who are thinking/pondering/dissecting the same things in your niche fandom as you are.
But what's notable is that tumblr kept sending me notifications about badges I won by liking other people's posts. The analytics for my own account gives me bare bones data for how the posts are performing. And it's clear that while tumblr wants me to write more, it's not interested in having me obsess over post performance or reach.
I know the site has lost something like 80% of its users in the last few years, but it seems to have improved the space. One of the major reasons I left about 4 years back was because I couldn't find much original content in a sea of passive reblogs of pretty things on my feed. At the time it felt like people didn't want to post their thoughts here any more. That definitely seems to have changed for the better.
3. TUMBLR UNDERSTANDS THAT PARTICIPATION FOSTERS CREATION
We're in the middle of a massive fan wave of feelings for dramas like Extraordinary Attorney Woo and Alchemy of Souls, so my posts were quickly found and read by other fans and I got to chat with a lot of people in just the last week.
Tumblr doesn't seem interested in pushing people to become creators (with all the obsessing over stats and influence that entails). It's far more concerned with whether I'm engaging with the content in my space.
4. THERE IS A LEVEL OF FAN EQUALITY
We all have writers and artists we love to follow (and I've found quite a few whose works make my heart bleed already) but despite some tumblr accounts having massive follows, there is a kind of equality within the fandom.
People are willing to build on each other's posts by reblogging and adding their takes and by writing essays in hashtags 😆, which creates new transformative content that's original and keeps my feed fresh.
5. THIS FEELS LIKE A SAFE SPACE
This is a big one. I haven't fully figured out why tumblr feels like a safer space to think out loud than twitter, instagram, or even my blog yet.
It may be because of the smaller user base, the demographic that uses the site, or it may be because there's no character limit to text posts and that allows people to explain their thoughts fully with as much context as possible.
It may have something to do with the reblogging format. Just having that option available makes every post feel like a whole community's work.
The problem with just the post and comment structure is that the OP's opinion is on a pedestal, while everyone else sounds out under it. But reblogs with no character limits lets people properly sound out their reservations or agreement on equal footing.
6. TUMBLR DOESN'T WANT ME TO BE AN INFLUENCER
And like I said at the start, I'm back on tumblr after years away with a completely new account, yet my posts are reaching a lot more people interested in exactly what I want to talk about than on other platforms which ask me to make their sites my second career if I want similar reach.
But, I just want to talk about kdramas and write my feelings.
So, this fits me exactly. 👌

its weird being kin with a character who is so commonly headcanoned to have NPD (while not having npd), and then having NPD now like man i Didnt have npd i was riddled with a whole other set of mental health issues lol
"omgg leo isnt DEPRESSED he has NPD and just needs support from his family to validate himself!!" like good for you live your life but also No i Didnt i acted as the "face man" because a) i didnt have a Niche in the team and b) nobody else really Was the face man like i didnt have a *role* aside from just being The Fourth Turtle like, donnie had his tech and raph was built like a tank and also Is Raph i mean cmon, and mikey had his fucken Razzmatazz and i was just sorta There Leo, blue guy, red eared slider, liked instant noodles and cold drinks and warm blankets and sorta just not really A Part of it like why do you think i took up being the fucking medic? so id be like!! useful!!! so id have something to do to say i was helping!! do you know how taxing it is to go and set bones and be the one to help your brothers after they have their shit rocked by like. meatsweats or something? fuck like im not MAD at them but it was like. a stressful thing. but i HAD nothing else! i wasnt leader until way later on and no matter what raph would always be the Unofficial Leader. my portals didnt compare to any of the shit my brothers could do. like "oh yeah hey i can make fucking portals" meanwhile raph can a) FUCKING DUPLICATE HIMSELF and b) make a projection of himself thats like 5 times his size mikey can a) THROW BOATS??? AND BUILDINGS???? WITH HIS FUCKING NUNCHUCKS???? b) yk. make inter-dimensional portals so not even my PORTALS are unique c) FLOAT. EVENTUALLY. d) like. pyro-related stuff i guess. and donnie's so fucking smart he doesnt even NEED mystic shit!! his tech-bo is like, yaknow, EVERYTHING YOUD WANT out of something called a "tech-bo", he set up all of our lair's tech, he made the heaters, he made AI's with the same capabilities of a human brain, and then add on MYSTICS to that???? holy SHIT. then theres dad who can just Kick Ass apparently despite being a tiny rat-man. april is the most resourceful person i know, casey and casey jr. are both STUPIDLY good with hand-to-hand combat because of fucking course they are. barry is a) physically capable somehow, b) has his stupid fucking vines and c) is an ALCHEMIST. even fucking sunita is more interesting than me!!! like what the shit! the most I contribute is being a fucking pest!!! my unfunny-streak has CONTINUED into Now, and im just as uninteresting and all this is stupid because draxum made all of us WITH A PURPOSE. the tank, the strategist, the analyst and the mediator. raph, me, don and mikey. i know, factually im not "without purpose". im part of our stupid, biologically-designed unit. but i cant fucking help myself. what the point of a strategist if the analyst is smart enough to fix everything if something goes wrong. what good is a strategist if the mediator can, again, THROW. BUILDINGS. what fucking GOOD is a STRATEGIST if the TANK can protect everyone!! "oh but leo! you trapped Him in the prison dimension" it wouldnt have been a PROBLEM if I hadnt let them out in the FIRST PLACE. it doesnt MATTER that i didnt know what it was! it still happened BECAUSE OF ME. donnie had to fucking, idk, INTEGRATE with THE FUCKING TECHNODROME cause of me! mikey fried himself cause of ME! dad and april got hurt cause of me! raph got fucking kidnapped and infected BECAUSE OF ME! if i wasnt a factor, the invasion wouldnt have happened at all, and my whole "planning to trap Prime in the prison dimension + self sacrifice" thing wouldnt have even HAD TO HAPPEN, so that point is WORTHLESS! i am a """strategist""" that only serves to hurt his unit. and what kind of fucking strategist is that.
-leo (probably from Lemonade Leak i guess) 🔷⚔🌌. sorry for this ask, mpc. probs more venty than you bargained for.

you mentioned near-constant-conflict and it just triggered a thought spiral of mine i often go on when i think about spideypool fanfiction that i thought you might be interested in reading or writing your thoughts about (hope you dont mind me rambling in your inbox)
i often seek out fanfiction with lots of conflict in it because im an enemies-to-lovers fan but i feel like a lot of the conflict in spideypool fanfiction often falls flat because either it feels like the author really doesnt WANT conflict (they REALLY just want fluff and they wanna get to it asap) or as soon as the conflict crescendos into the climax, they immediately drop the conflict, and the climax/resolution often becomes just about them having sex and immediately from then is happily ever after. ive been let down by a lot of identity reveal fics where i feel like the reveal should have spiraled into a lot more complicated feelings/conflict/etc due to the set up, just for them to get over it in about a paragraph or two. its what makes you and oprime and a dozen other spideypool authors stick out to me in the sea of the spideypool tag, that you guys dont let me down like that you go heavy on the conflict and keep me engaged
do you have any similar thoughts when reading fanfic that falls flat like that? or have i just been reading a very specific niche looking for a specific thing and im the only one going crazy over it? i feel like ive read hundreds of fics but still havent broadened my horizons enough because im picky idk but some days i feel like enemies to lovers is a rarity in a ship i can only perceive as such meanwhile everyone else is foaming at the mouth to domesticate them
I actually wrote love-punch because I was so dissatisfied by how the idenity reveal was always used as some sort of "fix-it" that absolved all the prior problems in the relationship because Peter was, like, conventionally hot or whatever. It was like the needle that popped the balloon instead of blowing to greater, worse proportions due to all the lies, miscommunication, and manipulation that went into keeping that idenity airtight. I see you. I understand you. We are on the same wave length when it comes to this.
"I feel like enemies to lovers is a rarity in a ship I can only perceive as such, meanwhile everyone else is foaming at the mouth to domesticate them." <- that's exactly it. I think my favorite ending for their relationship is still the end of @primewritessmut's she's not going to die today because it felt so true to character and how a "relationship" between them would realistically function (it wouldn't, without the conflict)
The main draw for me for these two has always been the conflict, so I know exactly what you mean when it comes to reading fic and finding a lot of authors wanting to circumnavigate the conflict or brush it under the rug the moment they start kissing. I am a believer that fanfiction allows people with vastly different interests to explore concepts, and I am okay that people are often very drawn to the idea of them being fluffy/domestic/dating because fanfiction is a fantasy - and a lot of people enjoy that fantasy! I am just not one of those people. I think they should fight forever and ever until the end of time.
re: fanfiction being a fantasy but I think a lot of people see dating as the "end" of tension - everything has been communicated, the sexual (or romantic) feelings have been explored, and now it's just smooth sailing. I think, realistically, that's not really how relationships work but more specifically - I don't think that's how their relationship would work. Wade and Peter canonically destroy everything they love, they walk past the smoldered remains of past relationships and onto the next ad infinitum. I don't think slapping a label on what they are would nullify them in the slightest. I've said it before, but I've never actually written a healthy domestic fic for them in part because I don't find it very interesting, and part because I just don't really see either of them being able to fulfill that fantasy (or necessarily wanting it?)
I think the conflict is the definition of their chemistry, and I think it should always be present, bubbling under the surface. Wade doesn't become less of a shit starter just because he's in love, and Peter doesn't become less of a short fuse just because he's in love, either. Again, fanfiction is really up to personal taste but man, would love if there were more conflict heavy works because it's such a good chance to explore character dynamics/studies and really expand on why these characters are interested in each other in the first place.
