March of the Flowers Day 2: Gerbera (bright smiles)

I recently finished reading a dance scene in a fanfic and it made me really want to do one in my rf5 fancomic as well. So I started with drawing these 2 since I've already had some practice drawing them dancing before haha. Also played around with some suit designs as well.

#i love where i live. at all times of the year there's always some ancient simple thing that direct-hits the timeless human experience button #me in the wintertime: wow for thousands of years we have huddled in shelters and put wood on the fire and thought about spring #me in the spring: wow for thousands of years someone has gone out and tapped the first tree of the season and saved up the sap #me in the summer: wow for thousands of years somebody has weeded squash here. beans even #me in the fall: i have GOT to be surrounded by corn so i can feel exactly the way im supposed to at this time. in this place #like it's not my ancestral experience. im not from here. we were in abruzzo until like eighty years ago. they dont have corn there #but at this time in this place there is corn and there has always been corn in this place. and i get to experience that. how COOL #at this time in this place there are maple trees and eastern white pines and there have been those trees #since as long and longer as there have been humans to look at them here. how COOL #harvest technology changes. populations change peacefully and then forcefully . the climate changes and is changing now #but for now. and for a time before me. there's corn here. and everyone who was here walked around in the corn #and if we are lucky then five hundred years from now someone can still plant and stand in and listen to the rustle of the corn

i feel like a lot of people ignore the fact that in a lot of places, bicycling just. cannot be done for half the year, & that's why public transport being good is important. i cannot bike in 5 feet of snow & ice or in 40c heat. i can't even walk in that, unless i have the energy to snowshoe or a bucket of ice water to chug.

"but I can do it!" good for you. unfortunately i live in Berk (snowing for 9 months of the year & hailing the other 3) & cannot unless i want to die. also disabled people exist. & children. & people who live in a place where everything is no closer than 30 minutes away, & 30 minutes in -30c can kill you if you can't afford a good pair of boots & a good coat. i may have bike paths but the river floods past them every year. what do i do then? bike on the highway?? just let me take the train

i dont even know what to pick anymore on the artfight 2024 theme poll because ive been voting vampires vs werewolves on every poll for years and we finally got that theme this year so its not an option anymore

#i guess arctic vs tropic would be nice ... thats always been my second choice #and is probably my favorite out of all the choices now that im actually looking at the list #im actually not a big fan of a lot of these options. i mean with a lot of them they SOUND cool but they dont really make sense as a theme #like i dont understand how seafoam and stardust are meant to be opposites you know #and some of the ones that Do make sense are just boring or dont really sound like they would make a good artfight theme ...#like heroes vs villains or comedy vs tragedy #and i feel like aesthetically spring vs autumn would be a combined repeat of bloom vs wither and sugar vs spice #becuase sugar vs spice had a very summer vs fall aesthetic and bloom vs wither was like . flowers and leaves vs mushrooms #idkkk

i finally finished alternate outfit designs for my ocs :) well these five at least lol

ill put the individual frames under the cut!

#finn's ocs #i think tumblr sort of made the drawings a bit blurrier so its harder to see some details like saiphs scars or miras stretch marks... sad!#hopefully clicking on it solves that?#anyway i ended up doing the pjs after all bc i figured messy hair would be fun to do #and if i was going to put saiph in underpants anyway it would be funny to do like. the cartoon heart boxers but w fire lol #the formal looks were fun to do though. you can tell al's is like totally inspired by utena's look in aou #there are for sure through lines i wanted to keep w all their outfits like in general #aside from just keeping the same colors and general style #like mira always has like a cold shoulder look and tends to have somekind of asymmetry towards the bottom #except for her formal look for the latter #saiph always wears those wrist things no mater what. also he always has somekinda flame pattern #polaris either has snowflakes stars or compasses ofc. and if she has somekinda skirt the red will be Under it #bella has the same skull design on her bows. except for the pj look where now the skull itself is wearing a bow #and al has the stars on the strings and mismatched shoes #the most similar outfits are the summer/spring and winter/fall ones #those are pretty much default outfits so thats why #and their hairstyles in the winter/fall looks are like just slightly longer versions of their summer/spring styles #they dont really change hairstyles for the beach and pjs aside from the long haired characters pulling them up different #or putting them down for the pjs look. in bellas case #their formal look probably has the most difference in hairstyle. like theyre not just grown out or pulled back #theyre like actually styled different #these arent their final looks btw there are like completely different timeskip designs too but like #id have to use different bases for those probably. there would be changes LOL #but yeah :)#finn's art #forgor that one
