Watched "Into the Unknown" again for no particular reason whatsoever, and besides being the highlight of a movie that was meddled into absolute disappointment, I was struck by the genius of this shot as I watched Elsa run toward the edge of the cliff and remembered, "Oh, right, she stops at the edge and reaches out."

But no.

The movie is BETTER THAN THAT and has her make an extension out of ice, showing that Elsa's capable of pushing herself farther than the boundaries nature set for her, and that she's willing to go the extra distance to solve this mystery (which apparently the writers themselves didn't even have solved at the time).

It's just Good Animation. No one else is gonna do that. Every other character is going to stop where the cliff says "stop", but Elsa has MAGIC and she USES IT.

#this isn't meant to be an attack this is just me loving Elsa's character #and hoping that they use her for the next two movies #again...she can be in an action film if she wants #Frozen: War Arc #it can happen #seriously #might be good #show some horrors of war #also please give her a gf listening to the song reminded me that Gay Elsa is not only on the table she's already On the Board #''I'm of course it turned out to be her MOM #which was okay but also kinda eh #this movie was a MESS #but it was good #coulda been Great #but it was just good #Frozen original was Great though and Wish definitely cemented that status #but we need some ROMANTIC TENSION back in these films come on

#both versions include cas hosting a late night radio show dean listens to #in the canon one dean goes for hunts. one night he can't sleep and starts listening to this show on the radio #the guy hosting the show doesn't know shit about music but he does some great late line stuff and dean enjoys listening to his voice etc.#one day he decides fuck it and calls the hotline #you get the idea #the au one is pretty similar but I'd give dean another job (obviously) and cas would have a family #he'd be studying something (or working a job where he can help people etc)#I'm not sure how I'd include cas being an angel in the canon version tho (so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know)#txt.#does this make sense?#i hope it does

the best writing advice i can give you is to ignore all of those people who insist there are a bunch of rules you need to follow in order to be a Good Writer, or are so painfully terrified of doing anything that has been done before or could be deemed cliched that they end up shoving themselves into a tiny box they’ve invented that completely restricts them creatively and stunts any kind of genuine growth they might get to experience as a writer. i ignore the rules of grammar fucking constantly if i think it serves the tone of my narrative better, because i think a sentence that’s ‘too long’ and doesn’t have enough punctuation is a GOOD thing if you want to illustrate a frantic or stressed person’s mindset. i WILL write the most stereotypical cheesy ending to a story because sometimes it just makes the most sense to do that because of the themes and conflicts im working with and im not going to force myself NOT to do it just because it’s ‘predictable’ or someone else did it before me (guess what everything has been done already and doing something that has literally never been done before is not actually what originality is). stop scaring yourself away from exploring and finding your own unique writing style just because someone is telling you you need to obsess over and memorise a load of non existent rules that people often just throw around to make themselves sound intelligent (it’s not working. you are dumb)

#i realise the irony of me of all people saying this because like im not a particularly great writer #but at least i let myself have fun and have my own style (in my opinion)#JUST FUCKING WRITE FOR YOURSELF. WRITE WHAT YOU WANT TO READ KILL THE CRITIC AND FAKE AUDIENCE IN YOUR BRAIN #and also can i be honest? a lot of the time i see writers give writing advice as if they know everything #and then you go and read what they've actually written and you're like yeah no im not fucking listening to you mate #again. i realise the irony of ME saying that but uh. shut up #partly posting this in response to someone who asked me for writing advice IM SO HONOURED but please. dont listen to me too much #listen to me a little bit so i can gain a superiority complex. but. you know #i'll answer you ask eventually im just nervous to give direct writing advice to someone who asked because i am not really qualified

i need fgo to acknowledge servants horses more

#achilles isn't enough i need to know how each servant is around their horse(s)#i think that duryodhana has two main steeds and would have a hard time controlling them for when he's being petulant #highest ranking older mare (12-16) + her offspring (4-8) the older one would have a stubborn and calm temperament who doesn't respect duryo #and her daughter would have the same kind of chill but would be more playful and curious. dur is talking with his brothers & she trots over #starts nuzzling and sniffing his clothes because she's bored. duryo keeps talking but starts petting her #i also think duryodhana has instinctively good balance and he's good at multitasking so showmanship-like riding comes to him easily #but he's shit at all horse maintenance. especially hoof care; he's convinced his girls are going to kick him and doesn't want to even try i #but he wants good care for his horses so he watches over the servants tending to them. bossy yet incompetent duryodhana 🥰#we know georgios is a good owner but i think he likes rein maintenance & spends a fair amount of time making sure bayards armor is spotless #lalter gives out snacks more easily than her counterpart (going after the wild hunt takes energy! llamrei is a good girl!)#percival is great with horses in general and he enjoys taking care of them and will help out any other knights if they're having trouble #ashvatthaman is (un)surprisingly really good with young stallions. he's not afraid of them at all and will scold them for their mean deeds #horse tries to eat his clothes or nibble his hair and he's like. oi stop that you bastard. and the horse listens (will eat his hair later)#prince of lanling is very thorough with horses getting enough feed and water and will make sure they're well rested #arjuna is like. the main character of a horse movie. he's emotionally sensitive with them & bonds with horses easily (who sense his worries #works really really hard to be good at riding and wants to leave no room for mistakes. really aware of his posture at all times #we had dogy event please give me hors event... horses cute and underrated<-most biased man talking

Decided to check out the audio drama Fawx & Stallion this weekend and GUYS... guys this show is SO FUNNY. I couldn't stop laughing for the first three episodes straight.

It's the story of some wannabe detectives living in Victorian London. Specifically, they live at 224B Baker Street, just across the street from a certain pair of decidedly more famous detectives--and they're sick and tired of having all their potential cases scooped by Sherlock Fucking Holmes. Luckily for them, while Holmes and Watson are out of town looking into some matter about a dog, a new case comes along and drops--by default--into our would-be heroes' laps.

And just who are these aspiring crime-solvers?

Hampton Fawx: detective and gentleman. What he lacks in common sense he makes up for with raw theater-kid enthusiasm.

James Stallion: gentleman and detective. A loyal friend and companion when he's not being a self-important arse. Runs on approximately 20% gin and 80% spite.

and finally Madge: neither gentleman nor detective. She's just been stood up by her date and she's going to make that everyone else's problem. She'll agree to help on this case just for the Drama.

It's a hysterical romp so far. A lighthearted farce set just offscreen from Holmes' own capers (for now!). Our main trio lacks even a single braincell to share between them, but by GOD they're going to solve this case and I'm going to be cheering them on the whole way there!

From what I can tell, new episodes are typically every other Monday, but the show's on a short hiatus for the holidays, to return in 2023. The first five are currently available to listen to, though, and I highly recommend it!

#Fawx & Stallion #certain details omitted so as not to spoil the little ep1 surprises :3c #this is a fun one to go into without much prior knowledge so if you're sold then please check it out now!!#I don't want to rob anyone of the gleeful little gasps that I let out as certain details came to light #but if you would like a few tiny spoilers to give you some more miscellaneous character info:#Hampton is asexual (I did not know this going in and it took me a bit to pick up on it but it is alluded to already in the show!)#James and Madge are legally married (which is why I left her surname out of the main post) but #they're both gay and happily pursuing other relationships with each other's blessing.#James is in a committed relationship (basically reads as married) to an Inspector from Scotland Yard and they're disgustingly cute together #his partner Archie is extremely long-suffering because Hampton and James' antics end up getting them in trouble more often than not #and Archie has to clean up their messes without seeming like he's showing favoritism.#(that description sounds like it could be tense but it's actually more in the tone of sitcom hijinks. it's lighthearted and hilarious)#and Madge is a complete disaster lesbian who apparently has an on-again-off-again relationship with Martha across the street #yes THAT Martha across the street #and anyway the three of them--Hampton James and Madge--all just share a flat with an ancient cat and #spend their days drinking booze and amateur boxing and bitching about Holmes and Watson #it's great. please give it a listen :)

I finally listened to side 2 of Steeltown and I have just one thing to say after listening to it:

Tony Butler is my favorite bassist. My #1, favorite bassist. Out of all of them; all bassists, and all of my favorite bassists. He's my favorite, hands down.

One of the many rpg mailing lists I'm on sent me an ad last night about a gamebook sale on drivethrurpg. I'm not much of a gamebook person, but the email mentioned Dracula, so I figured I'd at least click on it. And now I own a 690-page pdf of a Dracula gamebook, because it only cost $1.27.

If you aren't familiar with gamebooks, they are essentially Choose Your Own Adventure books, except you have a character sheet and dice. This one apparently allows you to play through Dracula as Jonathan Harker, Mina Harker, Dr Seward, or Dracula.

I can't speak to its quality, as I haven't played it yet, but it is only $1.27, so I figured I might as well tell all the Dracula folks on tumblr. 8)

#dracula daily #gamebooks are not my thing #but i do like a gamebook that lets me play as mina and immediately gives me combat rules #Let! Mina! Kill! Dracula!#there are enough unfaithful adaptations out there that make her fall in love with him #there should be more than the mercury theater radio version that lets her fucking stab him #(also #please listen to the mercury theater radio dracula #it's only an hour long and it's pretty great)
