okay! a spot has been picked for me. i shall be sleeping underneath the tree in a cradle of roots. ...unsure on when the actual burying-me-underneath will happen, but i'm going to be doing it by hand. bring out some nostalgia with less sand
...though i might have to ask mina to stop by daily to check on my team. they'll be fine on their own but i worry. maybe i'll give blue the account to use, it'll be stimulating for them

BTHB - Wiping the Other's Tears Away
Tumblr media
Fao couldn't help himself, he pulled Harrison in for a hug, crushing him against his chest. “Oh, Tomcat, nothing is ever over.”
He stiffened. "It is."
“No. Come on, you of all people know things can and will get better. Look at where we came from, look at the family we have now.”
Harrison's body trembled as he sobbed, gripping Fao tighter. "They're gone."
“No, they're not. Not at all. They're so worried about you, Hars. Sheila is beside herself. I'd barely even gotten off the plane before she was all over me, asking me if you'd reached out, desperate to know if you were safe.”
"You're lying." He managed, though barely believed it himself. "They hate me."
“No, I don't lie.”
"They hate me." He repeated through sobs.
“No, they don't. Sheila will be so relieved you're safe. That you're alive.”
He shook his head, gripping onto Fao. "No."
“Yeah. We thought you were dead.”
He sniffed, trying to catch his breath. "I wish I was."
“I know, I know.” Fao soothed.
Harrison took a moment, trying to get his breathing back under control. His own wolf itched to be out, unhappy at the uncomfortable situation. "I'm glad you're safe."
Fao hummed. “I'm absolutely fine. Is that what all this is about, eh?”
He swallowed thickly. He wasn't going to admit that, he wouldn't ever admit that.
Harrison’s silence told Fao all he needed to know. “Oh, Tomcat.” He breathed.
His sobs grew harder and he buried his face in Fao's neck. He had no reason to be so nice to him. He'd hurt his brother, ruined the family. Fao should have hated him, not pulled him in for a hug, nor tried to help him.
Fao rubbed his back. “Hey, hey. It's alright, come on now. It'll all be okay. You're okay. I've got you.”
Harrison pulled away, stumbling back to sit on the bed. He reached for Fao though, an olive branch, the best part of an apology he'd give.
Fao sat with him, wrapped his arm around him as he reached up to wipe Harrison’s tears with his thumb. “There we go, you're alright.”
He didn’t pull away. "How long are you staying?"
“As long as you need.”
"That's not what I meant."
“How long am I in the country?”
He nodded; he couldn't bring himself to ask properly.
“I've got nothing on the horizon. So, a fair while. Six months, at least.”
"Six.." It wasn't enough.
“Easily longer. I have to sign up, so… I can take a break. Still gotta train, but…”
"Don't stop for me."
“It's not stopping. I need a rest period anyway.”
"That's just saying it a different way."
“Sure, either way. I'm back now.”
"You'll be gone soon enough."
“It's my job, Hars. But I'll be in the clinic and the hospital now, for a while. It's only the reserves, it's not forever.”
"Until you get hurt."
“I'm not going to get hurt.”
He rolled his eyes. “You can’t promise that.”
“I know. But I’m careful.”
“I know.”
“And I’ll have the best people looking after me if I do get hurt.”
"That's not what I mean." He snapped, tears falling harder.
“What do you mean? Explain it so I can help?”
"Just don't go."
“It’s not quite that simple, Hars.”
“Please.” He turned to face him properly. “Please don’t go.”
“I still have to train, but I’ll take a break.”
“Just please don’t go back.”
“I’ll take some time.”
“Please.”
“You could always call me, yknow?”
“My phone’s fucked.”
“If you were back with Sheila.”
He stiffened. “I’m not going back.”
“Come on, they want you back.”
“I’m not going.”
“Okay. You're gonna walk away from the pack?”
"It's already over."
“Except I've told you it's not.”
“You weren’t there!”
“I know. But I came home to it, I spoke to Sheila.”
“And you could just be lying to me.”
“Call her yourself.”
"Fine." He gritted his teeth.
“You're family.”
“I was.”
“There's no was about family.” Fao said, and pulled away to plug his phone in.
"There is. That's why we're with Sheila. Why I was with Sheila."
“The people who raised us aren't family. The pack is family, Sheila is family. Family's more than just blood.”
“I guess.” He frowned. “But they don’t want me in their pack.”
“They do, Harrison. Of course they do.”
“I hurt Finn.” He whispered.
“Yeah, you made a mistake. But Finn’s okay, and everyone knows it wasn’t you.”
“But it was. I did it.”
“But you weren’t yourself. Scraps happen, we all make mistakes.”
"My whole life is a mistake."
“That’s not true.”
“It is.” He said quietly. “My parents were right.”
“No, Harrison. They weren’t. You’re so much more than them.”
He shook his head. “I hurt Finn.”
“You made a mistake. Just apologise to Finn and move on, he’s okay.”
"How badly did I hurt him?" He barely dared to ask.
“He had to go to the hospital, Steve wanted to be cautious, but he was okay. Broken ribs and a broken bone in his arm. Nothing too dramatic.”
Harrison made a quiet, pained noise. "I fucked it up. I fucked it all up."
“No, you didn’t.”
"I did, I really did."
“He healed just fine.”
"Physically."
“He was upset, but just worried about you.”
Harrison shook his head. He didn't want to talk about it anymore, it just hurt too much.
“I know. It's alright.”
It wasn't alright. He didn't see how it could ever be alright.
“We'll go home, you can apologise to everyone there. And then it'll be okay.”
He leaned into Fao and nodded. He didn't have the energy to refuse, and as much as he tried to deny it, he missed the pack.
“I’ve got you.”
"I'm sorry."
“It's okay.”
"I really am."
“I know you are, I know.”
He was quiet again, his breathing slowly growing more steady. "Do they know?"
“That you're here?”
He shook his head. "That 'm sorry."
“I’m sure they do, but you’d do best telling them yourself.”
His breath hitched. "What if they don't listen?"
“You know they always listen.”
"But what if they don't?"
“It’s Sheila. She’d help you hide a body if you needed to.”
"She doesn't control the pack."
“Of course she does.”
"She doesn't control everyone."
“She’s Sheila.”
"She'd rip me apart."
“It’s fine, Hars. We’ll go back together and you can see the pack.”
He laughed humorlessly. "You'll protect me?"
“Yeah. Don't you know I'm a big tough soldier now?”
Harrison let out a proper laugh. "Tough, maybe."
“Rude.”
He reached for Fao's hand, gripping it tight. "I'm sorry."
“Let's stay here tonight, yeah? And we'll see what we're gonna do in the morning.”
"Okay."
“Get some food. When was the last time you ate?”
He shrugged. "Not too long ago."
“Long enough.”
"It's useful being wolf."
“Mm. Can I grab a shower and then we can get some food?”
“Sure.”
Fao nodded and pulled away to shower. It was nice, after a long while searching for Harrison as a wolf. He was quick, worried Harrison would leave or pull something stupid. It wasn’t that he didn’t trust him, he just knew him too well.
Despite himself, he’d fallen asleep, curled around his backpack. The bed was comfier than he’d expected and had drifted off almost as soon as Fao had got in the shower. His hair was still wet, still dripping down his back, but he was warm and content.
When Fao got out, he was surprised to see Harrison curled up asleep on the bed. With a shake of his head, he quietly got dressed. Poor Hars must be absolutely exhausted, he didn’t blame him for falling asleep.
Harrison stirred as Fao dressed, rubbing his eyes. “Did you shower?”
“Yeah, I did. You have a nice nap?”
"Wasn't even asleep."
“Yeah, okay. Wanna grab some food?”
"Yeah." He frowned. "I've not got any more cash."
“You can pay me back when you get some next.”
"Nowhere's hiring right now."
“I can wait.”
“Sorry.”
“Don’t be. You want me to keep an eye out for you?”
“I’ve looked everywhere. Nobody wants a wolf.”
“I’ll see if I can find somewhere. But don’t worry about the money. You can pay me back whenever.”
“Thanks.” He muttered quietly.
“I’d say don’t bother paying me back at all, but I know you’ll refuse.”
“Of course I’d refuse.”
“So it can be an open IOU. Hell, just buy me dinner next time you can.”
“Alright. I can do that.”
“Good. I'm hungry, and I bet you are too. Let's eat.”
“I don’t need much.”
“You can have as much as you want. I sure am.”
“It’s okay. A meal deal or something will be more than enough.”
“No, come on, we’re getting a good, hot meal.”
“It’s okay.” Harrison protested.
“Well, I want hot food, so…”
"Fine."
“Might as well.”
"I guess."
Fao hummed and shoved his wallet into his pocket. “You ready to go?”
He shrugged. "Yeah."
“We won't be too long, then you can get some proper sleep.”
“I already slept.” He argued as they headed down the corridor. "And I ate earlier."
Harrison kept up his protests as they found somewhere to eat. He checked the menu several times before finally agreeing to let Fao pay for it. The restaurant smelled amazing, almost overwhelming for his wolf, and his stomach growled loudly. So much for saying he'd eaten recently.
He savoured every bite, eating as slowly as he could, his wolf screaming in protest - he didn't know when his next meal would be, he should be eating as much and as fast as he could. Fao chatted away as he ate, in between large mouthfuls of good food. When Fao got seconds, Harrison was torn. There was an ache in his stomach that had come from the week with barely anything, but his pride bristled. He was already in Fao’s debt. Fao kept persuading gently, and when he refused, ordered for him anyway. He didn't need to be wolf to read Harrison’s mind.
Dessert was another thing - Fao, of course, ordered something. After a quick glance at Harrison, he got the other wolf one too. Just a simple warm sponge, but it had to help the cold in his bones. Fao had only been wolf for a week, living rougher than he was used to, he couldn't imagine how Harrison felt.
As the evening dragged on, Harrison slowly warmed to him again. He'd missed Fao. He had been everything to him and then he'd just left. Of course Harrison knew that he'd had to go, that it was for work and he didn't have a choice. And of course, Harrison was proud of him. So, so proud. He just couldn't tell him yet.
The other customers stared at them, Harrison could feel it and he knew Fao could too. It was easy to see why; it wasn't normal to see a well dressed young man with another who was still very obviously homeless. While Fao held an air of authority, commanding attention in any room he walked in to, Harrison did the opposite. People averted their gaze or stared on in disgust, they'd walk in to him on the street, ignoring his simple questions when he'd ask for directions or the time. Even in the restaurant the stigma followed them, customers giving Harrison a wide berth as they passed, almost as if they were afraid they'd catch something.
Fao's joke about Harrison’s hair being longer than his didn't go down well, just another reminder of how far he'd fallen.
As their plates were cleared, Harrison dug about in his pockets, pulling out his old, almost a brick of a phone. It wasn't his normal phone, that one had ended up being sold before it could be stolen. It wasn't worth much, but he offered it to Fao as payment. Of course the other wolf refused, rolling his eyes and telling Harrison not to be daft. He took it from him though, checked the charger needed, and promised Harrison they'd go grab a charger so at least they'd be able to keep in touch. After a little protest, he gave in, agreeing to nip to the shop with Fao.
It wasn't far, the perks of it being a small town. Security on the door gave Harrison an odd look - he'd been caught trying to go through their bins a few times, and kicked out from their doorway more than once. With Fao by his side though, it seemed he could do anything. He gave him a grateful smile.
Fao grabbed a trolley-full of snacks and drinks, and then as a second thought, some quick meals. Harrison would be going back with him, he was certain. Hopefully.
Despite Harrison’s protests, he headed to the clothes section too - the clothes the other man wore weren’t dirty, but he could definitely do with some that weren't threadbare and holey, and that hadn't been washed in the sink of public bathrooms for months.
The longer they spent in the shop, the quieter Harrison became, only occasionally piping up with suggestions. His first aid kit was sorely lacking, his medications nearly all gone. Fao meant he wasn't going to be kicked out - and he didn't have to steal. Fao was happy to oblige; if Harrison was going to stay away, he needed to be able to take care and look after himself.
While Fao checked out, Harrison braced himself against the trolley. The lack of continuous interruptions from Fao only made him grow more and more tired, almost falling asleep standing up.
Fao was glad Harrison was finally letting him look after him. As they shopped, and Harrison grew more and more tired, Fao shot him a small smile. Braced against the trolley, he looked to be basically sleep walking. They’d gotten what they needed now, and it was getting late. Fao felt just as exhausted as Harrison looked. Resting a hand on his back, he ushered him to the tills.
They paid, shoved everything into their bags, and headed back to the hotel. They still got looks, but Fao countered them with his own, and hoped they didn’t bother Harrison too much. He’d be better in some new clothes, for sure.
Back in their room and away from the prying eyes of the general public, Fao tidied their things away, and flopped onto the bed with a sigh.
“Everything’s sorted now. Do you want to get some sleep before you pass out on me?”
“Not even tired.” He protested, running a hand through his hair.
“Sure.”
“Not a bit.” He said again, sinking onto the chair by the bed.
“Come sit on the bed?”
"I'm okay here."
“You don’t look comfy.”
“It’s better than the floor.”
“Beds exist for a reason.”
"So do chairs."
“Beds are for sleeping.”
"Fine. Shove over."

Liam: nah, but she married my sister's dad Liam: she liked him better all round Edie: that makes sense Edie: same with mine and the others dad Edie: hence she went back to him Liam: dunno what your ma was thinking but in fairness to mine he was less of a twat for a while Edie: can't help who you love Edie: some people are unlucky with that too Liam: yeah Liam: & some people never get to be in love Edie: some people don't let themselves Liam: like we said earlier about not living Edie: yeah Edie: I guess it is scary but what's the alternative Liam: I used to properly feel things you know Edie: before your sister died Liam: if it was there before, it could be again Edie: definitely Edie: I know it Edie: we'll work it out Liam: you'll be happy here Liam: [a pic of the cute shit he's been doing in her absence trying to make this place nice for her] Edie: 🥺🥺 Edie: it says I'm nearly there Liam: I'll come out so I can carry you in 👰 Edie: you know I'd die to make you happy Liam: but that isn't what I want Liam: I'd prefer if you lived forever Edie: then I'll do that Edie: we can have hundreds of babies if that's what you need Edie: or do all the drugs in the world Edie: or go on the longest killing spree Liam: I think that'd take a huge toll on you physically, which I don't want either Liam: I'm not trying to ruin you Edie: you might make me actually cry Liam: stay beautiful, that's what I need Edie: Come get me Liam: [does] Edie: [lowkey laden down with all the essentials be careful boy] Liam: [literally take a sec to imagine them going from room to room planning their lives like adorable nerds] Edie: [this is all so bittersweet we're so mean] Liam: [I'm totally fine and not gonna sob] Edie: [I think if they made it look lived in, it'd make the squatters go away, so then it's just when the landlord/estate agent moment shows up eventually, but I think that would give them a bit of time to do it, even if it's like a week] Liam: [there's just something so pure about this, like it really reminds me how young and broken they are, casually playing pretend like little kids here] Edie: [mhmm, like because she's technically smart everyone expects her to be cynical and realistic but she can't be and is like genuinely if we try hard enough this will all work and be real] Liam: [just reminding me of my pure baby angel Carly in a way I did not expect to be hit by, excuse me] Edie: [when you're more like her and Billie is more like Ali don't mind me] Liam: [I don't know why I love that so much but I do] Edie: [just live your best lives huns, all the ridiculous things you've got for this home moment, also some kind of baby doll 'cos we didn't steal a real child] Liam: [we don't need either of you getting in that much trouble when the fams are gonna be annoyed as is, they should totally film something with it during this week because those hoes] Edie: [creepy, cryptic video in response to where you are like soz for scaring you all half to death it's just our brand] Liam: [and she should practice tattoo designs on it for him like do you like this one or nah] Edie: [definitely covered in biro] Liam: [put your treasure in it's eye socket] Edie: [there's so many sick designs tbh] Liam: [are we saying they still go to school or purely hole up] Edie: [probably hole up 'cos 1 why not but 2 at least you'd know they were together even if not where lol] Liam: [it adds to the vibe of their own little world so I'm here for it] Edie: [like truly why would you go to school, maybe when you're pregnant and we need to win people 'round lmao] Liam: [he wouldn't stalk Rio all week that means #proudofyouboy] Edie: [we're all thrilled] Liam: [actual progress for real because he's been doing it for years and he didn't force Edie to go to school so he could] Edie: [it truly is, when you're just having fun gah] Liam: [proud of you for living real life again boy, speaking of, we know the vibe but is there anything you wanna write down here as defs happening this week other than what we've said?] Edie: [hmm, so let's recap real quick and then we can add anything if we think of it, we've got homey things and he's made it cute and we're playing house so the squatters don't come and wreck it, which is so cute, we're planning our family and life like this is absolutely nbd, doing all the biro tattoos, making our ARG and making a weird/scary vid for the fam lollollol soz, just clearly getting to know each other intensely and bonding and cementing this plan] Liam: [do write some songs gal but I also think they should try whatever drugs they want to that they haven't before they get clean for this pregnancy moment because adds to the bonding that they don't even throw a party they just do it together] Edie: [i vibe that because it isn't about the party of it all, it's the feeling things, so it makes feelsy sense] Liam: [yeah I felt it, and it's so cute that they're doing all these domestic things while sometimes high af] Edie: [like you said, we don't need to be saints 'cos who is even when they have a child but it's very noble that you're like okay let's get it out of the way lol] Liam: [literally ruster are still living lavish and partying with their champagne and coke when they have theirs, tell me I'm wrong] Edie: [mhmm, y'all are very sweet actually it's pure] Liam: [neither of them seem like they would be so sweet and pure and that's why I stan it] Edie: [maybe they can do things they'll do when they have the bub like the park etc so like normal childhood things which he probably didn't get to do much] Liam: [boo how dare you, that's so cute] Edie: [like again, bittersweet but also childlike vibes again and he can enjoy it] Liam: [also I vote he gets on this roof and shouts about his feelings like he said he was gonna on the school roof] Edie: [a mood, and you can be a bit destructive inside, just got to keep it looking respectable so every loser in town doesn't crash your fun] Liam: [OMG but what if that's towards the end of the week and he says he loves her then because he has not like literally shout it from the rooftops but genuinely] Edie: [need that tbh 'cos as in this as she is and not turning back, she's obvs noticed he hasn't like she knows she's still out here trying to make him feel not like oh yes, I have succeeded lol] Liam: [it just is real like when you're pissing about at first but then the feels carry you along] Edie: [oh you two]

Snow
Peter Parker x Stark!reader
Tumblr media
Warning: language, angst, and danger. Mentions blood but no details.
Word count: 1958
Summary: Doc Ock ruins your date with Peter Parker and Spider-Man has to save the day. Part 1 of 2 or 3. For @petersshirts challenge.
You rushed through the courtyard and down the street. Snow lightly clung to your hair as wind whipped around you. You held your hand to your mouth to cover your poor frozen nose. You were running late.
You saw him before he saw you. He stood under a canopy. His puffy coat was pulled tight and you could see his red ears peaking from the end of his blue beanie. Peter was looking wistfully at the nice warm cafe across the street.
You hustled to him as fast as your cold legs could carry you. Peter looked up before you could surprise him and he smiled widely. He grabbed your arm and pulled you into the safety of the cafe. He always looked at you so softly.
Peter brushed the snow from your hair before removing his beanie. He slung his head around and snow flung off everywhere. You giggled as an older man gave you both a look.
"Sorry," Peter said smiling. "Do you want to order something to eat? I'm pretty hungry."
"Peter Parker, you are always hungry," you said walking to a small table in the corner by the window. Snow piled up on the outside of the window sill.
A small overworked waitress came to take your order. Peter ordered a hot chocolate and a burger. You got a coffee. You pulled your gloves and coat off and looked around. A football game played on a small tv by the register. Holiday music played in the background.
"Were you waiting long," you asked Peter.
"No, It wasn't that long. I like the snow anyways," Peter said smiling. He was lying. He was frozen to the core. You grabbed his bare hand with your own. His hand was freezing.
"Let's meet in the cafe next time. I feel bad that you are frozen," you said rubbing his frozen hand in your warm hands. Peter smiled. He bent and kissed your hand. His face was beginning to flush as he slowly warmed up.
The waitress brought your drinks and his food. Peter offered you some fries as he devoured the burger. You barely picked at his fries knowing he could eat everything and more. Ever since he became Spider-Man, Peter was constantly hungry.
Peter excitedly talked about his project in biochemistry. You listened without really understanding. You had met when Peter tutored you in freshman biology in uni.
"Pete, I hate to interrupt but you have hot chocolate there," you pointed. Peter swiped completely around it. "No there," you pointed again. He wiped to the side of it. Finally you grabbed a napkin and wiped it for him.
"Uh..huh thanks," Peter said scratching the back of his neck. He was bright red. You bit your lip to not smile at how cute he looked.
"What's a girlfriend for?" You asked joking. You scooted out of your seat and sat next to the boy. Peter quickly scooted over to make room. Your thigh touched his and you turned to look at him. The cafe was so busy that you felt alone.
Your hands wrapped around his neck and you felt his heart beating fast. Peter lightly gripped your waist. His eyes dipped to look at your lips. Your pulled his face to your and your lips touched softly. His cool lips against your warm. You wrapped your hand in his curls as you kissed. His kiss was soft and sweet.
His tongue softly licked your lips and you opened your mouth. He tentatively explored your mouth. Now, Peter could hear your heart pounding. He tasted like hot chocolate. His smell was all Peter, with clean soap and something that reminds you of the science lab.
Peter barely stroked your side with his hands. He was a good guy. He was sweet and kind and yours. You wished this moment would last forever.
You were wrenched from the kiss by Peter tensing right before a horrifying sound of metal cracking and glass shattering. Peter wrapped you tight to his body and pulled you both to the floor away from the window. You laid on his chest with your eyes clenched tightly closed.
Finally silence fell on the cafe and you looked up. Smoke filled your lungs and you coughed uncontrollably. Peter helped you up. Your ears rang and you were in a daze. Other people looked around as a huge pole lay in the middle of the cafe. A police officer ran in the cafe and began pulling people out.
Peter helped you to the street. Your whole body shook and your weren't sure if it was from fear or cold. What the hell happened?
"Babe, I have to help. Okay? Okay?" Peter asked holding your cheeks in his hands. It took a minute before you understood what he meant and finally you nodded. Peter ran to the nearest alley.
A minute later Spider-Man was helping the people climb out of the cafe. You stood in front of the building. Where did this pole come from? How did it get there? People asked as they realized what happened.
You saw a shadow on the building behind you and you turned to look. A figured that appeared to be a man with multiple limbs climbed down the building in the swirling snow. You stood froze in fear. People screamed. You couldn't think as the monster came towards you. Too late, you decided to run.
A metal claw caged you around the ribs and it picked you up. You shrieked and tried to escape but it was no use. The punishingly cold metal wouldn't budge. It instead lifted you up.
"Peter! Help! Oh, God, Peter," you screamed. Peter froze. He heard your voice in sheer terror. He hadn't noticed the screams as the villain climbed down the building over the screams from people in the building. He ran out of the cafe.
"Spider-Man! That- that monster took that girl," a woman shrieked and pointed. Peter turned to see you being carried away. You tried to claw yourself out but Peter knew it was no use. He has barely escaped those claws a few years earlier.
Peter swung towards the man. You shrieked and screamed as you dug your hands into the claws. You hadn't seen Peter yet because you were stuck facing away. The claw was too tight to turn in. Tears streamed down your face from the cold biting wind. You began to panic.
"Let me go, please! Don't hurt me," you pleaded with the man who appeared to have metal arms coming from his back.
"That depends on our friend Spider-Man. He can give me what I want and I'll go away, or I'll drop you off the top of this building first and then take it from him," the man growled as he finally stopped atop a large building. He turned you to face out. You could see the ground so far down and knew you would never survive that fall.
Peter swung up to the building across and stuck to the wall. "Ock, put her down. This is between us," Peter said more bravely than he felt. He wasn't sure if he could catch you before you hit the ground.
"Spider-Man, you know it doesn't work that way," the man countered. "I'm just asking for a bit of your blood. That not too much."
"My- wh-why do you want my blood," Peter asked disgusted. He should have known it wasn't going to be money like an ordinary criminal.
"Your super healing. This metal is tough on the human body."
"You could always take it off," Peter suggested. Doc Ock scoffed.
"I could throw your girlfriend off the building," he wiggled you over the edge of the building. You gasped and clung to claws. Your heart pounded violently and you felt close to passing out.
"No! No! Don't, please," you begged.
"No! Don't do anything crazy," Peter said with an arm out. Doc slowly pulled you back to the roof. You shook violently. Your eyes were wide and pleading with Peter to save you.
"Give me the blood then, boy," Doc said. Peter thought quickly.
"Put her down. Safely. And I'll give it to you," Peter said as he climbed up to the roof of his building. Peter put out both hands in good faith. He knew this was a terrible idea but what else could he do. The snow fell quicker and obscured the ground below.
"Good. Here," Doc tossed Peter a syringe wrapped in plastic. Peter's hands shook as he opened it and screwed the needle on. This was a terrible idea but he could fix it later.
"Don't give him your blood," you said as your mind caught up to the situation. "Don't."
"It'll be okay," Peter said pushing the needle through the skin of his arm. You watched as the vial filled with red blood. Doc grinned in anticipation. Finally the vial was full and Peter pulled the needle from his skin. The snow was falling heavily.
"Throw me the vial and I'll give you the girl," Doc said. Peter walked to the edge.
"Will she be safe?" Peter asked gripping the vial tightly. "You won't hurt her?"
"She should be fine," Doc said shrugging. "Toss the vial or I throw her down."
Peter gulped before throwing the vial across the gap. Doc threw you between the buildings. Your mouth formed an o and your heart froze as you reached out for nothing. You fell for a second before screaming.
Peter jumped from the building and webbed down to you as he anchored to the building. He never even watched Doc as he raced to you. Finally he grabbed you around the middle close to the ground. You clung to him tightly as you shook. He let you both down safely at ground level.
Peter glanced up to see only snow. The top of the building was concealed by the snow storm. Doc was gone. Peter buried his head in your neck as you clung to him.
"Baby, you're okay. I've got you. Okay?" Peter said stroking your back. You sobbed as emotions ran through your body. "Let's get home," Peter said seeing that the cops had cleared the scene from the cafe.
He gently picked you up and swung to your dorm. Peter opened the window and you both climbed in. He took the suit off and grabbed some sweats and thought of his clothing in the alley. Once he calmed you down he would go get them. And figure out what to do about Doc Ock.
"You need to get out of your clothing into something warm. They're all wet from the snow," Peter said. You barely registered what he was saying as he pushed pajamas into your hands. You pulled your shirt off without a thought and began pulling the pjs on. Peter turned to give you privacy.
When he felt you had changed Peter turned towards you. You sat at the end of the bed. Your hair was damp, nose red, and eyes watery as you stared in space. It was just too much to think about. Peter touched your arm nervously and you pulled him close and molded to his body.
Peter laid you both down on the bed. Your arms wrapped around his waist and you buried your face in his shoulder. He ran his fingers through your hair and held you close. He reached over and pulled a blanket on you both. Peter kissed your hair and thought about how he almost lost you today.
He continued to comfort you until he felt your body relax and your breathing slowed in sleep. Then finally Peter let himself fall asleep with you. He would stop Doc Ock later.

Once you wake up, it'll be a new morning (6/7: future)
“What’s this thing?” In the glass of the shop they’re visiting, the ugliest figurine Riko has ever seen is staring at her, her ecstatic expression made ridiculous by her unevenly placed eyes.
“Is that supposed to be you?” She asks her girlfriend who’s still pointing at the thing and gaping. “It looks like your happy party train outfit and it has your hair color…” She looks back and forth between Chika and the figurine. “Kind of.”
“That’s not official merch. Probably a knockoff?” Suggests You.
“We should call our commercial rep, that’s illegal.” Says Dia. “And hideous.”
“Truly hideous.” Confirms Chika. “I love it. I’m gonna buy one!”
“I swear to god, Chika.” Riko follows Chika, who got the ugly figurine preciously cradled in her arms, through the shop. “If you put it above our bed I’m breaking up with you.”
“I won’t!” Says Chika with a giggle. Riko isn’t sure she believes her.
Riko is woken up by timid knocks on her door. She didn’t close the blinds the night before; the sun is blinding when she opens her eyes. She grumbles and rolls around to turn her back to the sun, ready to get back to sleep. The person knocks again.
“It’s our day off!” Whines Riko. “And my head hurt.”
“I’ve got water and painkiller.” Says Chika’s voice through the door. “Open to me?” Riko’s culpability at the ugly words from the day before forces her out of bed.
“Ugh, fine.” It’s only when she opens that she realises she probably looks like a right mess, pillow creases on her cheek and hair all other the place. She rubs self consciously at the skin under her eye and lets Chika comes in.
“Your room’s nice.” Chika goes straight to Riko’s window and gazes at the view.
“My room’s empty.” Replies Riko, conscious that the boxes scattered around the room don’t really makes it look welcoming. Her closet is the only thing that looks okay right now and it’s because the doors are closed. She knows she should tidy it up, but she doesn’t feel that ready to admit that the dorm is her home now, for at least a year. She hasn’t moved out of her flat in Germany yet and doesn’t really knows if she will stop renting it. She really does love it and intend to go back to her old life after their touring ends, after all.
Riko sits cross legged on her bed and gestures for Chika to do the same. Chika pushes the bottle of water and the pills in her open hands. She’s so close Riko can see the freckles on her nose. Riko’s always liked idol Chika of course, with sparkling dresses and shiny hair and glowing skin, but she always loved this Chika more, wearing soft comfortable clothes, no make up covering her freckles and red cheeks, her hair in a messy ponytail.
“Because you said you don’t know me anymore, I thought we could play truth or truth.” Riko’s blank look makes her laugh. “You ask a question to which I have to answer truthfully, then I do the same. No lie, we can’t skip any question. We need to get rid of the past if we want to build a future, right?”
Riko’s head hurts and she’s not sure she’s ready for such a serious discussion. “Okay.” She answers anyway.
“Let’s meet again, Riko-chan?”
Riko can’t help but smile. “Let’s meet again.”
“You start, then.”
Riko considers Chika’s orange and white tracksuit, a reliquat from their old merch. She remembers Chika wearing it during lazy days in the dorm. “You still wear that old thing?”
Chika cocks her head. “Is that your question?” Riko nods. “Yeah, I guess. It’s comfy. I wear it to clean around in the ryokan. Why did you cut your hair?”
Riko passes a hand in her hair. “It was terribly damaged after all that straightening and it was getting in the way so I cut it.” She shrugs. “That’s a terribly plain answer. Some things never change, I guess.”
“You were never plain.” Chika’s expression is open, sincere and it suddenly makes Riko very mad. “I never thought you were plain, Riko.”
“You say that but you still left.” She accuses. “Why did you left us?”
Chika looks down, fingers nervously playing with a thread coming off her sleeve. That’s what she wanted, of course, when she proposed that stupid game. A confrontation. A chance to explain herself, maybe? “My mother fell sick.” She says, voice small. Riko freezes. She’d been close with Chika’s family once and thinking something might have happened to her mother and she’d been unaware is insufferable.
“Is she alright?”
“Yes. It was something affecting her sight, not a life threatening illness. It made her unable to run the ryokan though. She needed me.”
“But why did…”
“My turn to ask a question, remember?” Riko stares incredulously at Chika. “You agreed, remember? Did you dated people in Germany?”
“Are you seriously asking about my dating history right now?” Chika shrugs. “Well I did dated girls. Never longer than a couple of months. Ranked from uncomfortable to fucking creepy. Why did you broke up with me?”
“I wanted you all to keep singing without me.” She shrugs again, still playing with the cuff of her left sleeve. “I knew you would quit for me. I didn’t wanted that. I didn’t wanted to be responsible for the end of Aqours. Too much guilt, you know.“ She sighs. "Tell me about that creepy date?”
Riko wants to refuse, wants to press for more answer but Chika looks so defeated she thinks she can maybe give her a break. “Well it started nice enough? The girl was cute and she treated me to a nice restaurant so I went for a last drink at hers. She lived in a tiny tiny studio. She tells me to sit on the bed, you know, and that’s when I realise she has that enormous Aqours poster on her wall.”
Chika gasps. “You dated a fan?”
“Wait, that’s getting better. I start looking around of course and see something half-hidden under the covers.” Chika’s mouth is hanging out open, her eyes shining happily. “That was a fucking body-pillow of you. She was a fan of you! Gosh, that was so embarrassing.”
“What did you do?”
“I trash talked you.” Smiles Riko. “Told her you were a real diva and used lots of auto-tune, that your feet smell bad, I don’t even remember. Sorry?”
“Don’t be, that’s hysterical.” Chika is laughing so hard Riko is half afraid she’s going to choke but she also feels more at peace with herself that she’d be for a very long time. She reaches for Chika’s arm and squeezes it.
“She even had that figurine, you remember the one?”
“No?” Chika is crying now. “Not the one, oh my god.” She falls on her side on the bed with the force of her laugher. Riko doesn’t resist the need to lay in front of her and laugh with her.
“You really did put it above our bed, back then.” She whispers with a soft laugh. “You took it with you everywhere we were touring to. You said it was your good luck charm.” She pauses. “You took it when you left, too.”
“I was wrong about that.” Says Chika quietly. She reaches for a strand of Riko’s hair; Riko lets her. “You were my good luck charm. I didn’t realise it six years ago. I thought I was being selfless, quitting you all without a word, but I was wrong. I felt better about myself if quitting you felt like a sacrifice, not an abandon. I was selfish and ultimately my selfishness broke off Aqours. I’m still so selfish. I can’t even imagine you forgiving me, Riko, yet here I am, begging you for forgiveness.”
“You made a mistake.” Chika chuckles uneasily. “A big one, yeah. A really big one. I didn’t thought I could forgive you but look at us? I didn’t thought I wanted to forgive you, but I already did without noticing.”
She opens her arms for Chika to buries herself in, strokes her back when Chika starts crying, her tears wetting Riko’s shoulder. She whispers endless sorry against Riko’s clothes and Riko keeps holding her through it. She doesn’t know what’s going to happen now, but she doesn’t doubt Chika and her will keep finding each other til the end.
