Oh my gosh, it’s been so long since i’ve sent you a letter! I’m so sorry! The hotel has been sooooooooo busy! But don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about you, how could I? You’re all I think about!

I’m excited to tell you i’ve been decorating your room at the hotel! Of course, when you come here you can redecorate if you wish to! Whatever makes you the happiest sweetie! Or, you could even share my room!

I can’t wait to come get you, I really do think you’ll like it here. We’ve all worked so hard to make this place as welcoming as possible, and you’ll warm up to the other residents and staff after a little bit of time! They can be a bit much at the beginning, but don’t worry your pretty little head, I wouldn’t put you in danger. The hotel is super safe, especially now that my dad is helping too!

Please write back, at least once? You haven’t responded to any of my letters, and Razzle told me you kept throwing them out ☹. Unless you use your trash can as extra storage, I’m not sure why all my letters keep ending up there!

everything in this that I explain is very simplified because cultural context would be a nightmare to explain but :3 you gave me DAI TSS AU infodumping permission. Time to regret it.

when you open Dragon Age: Inquisition to play, you’re given a character creation menu. Your gender, race (DnD inspired so species TECHNICALLY) and your weapon class. I wanted to follow this formula for the AU but alas I am not going to because it gives me much more creative freedom to actually make it up

Also if anyone knows this game and I got something wrong, I'm already sorry LMAO I'm not great at remembering details correctly

Roman and Remus are human nobles from Antiva. Their family owns a winery and contributes to the massive export in the international trading. They use a sword+shield and a mace+shield respectively, often training together. They were brought up to carry on delegating the trade for their family business but not everything goes exactly as their parents planned — both kids are gay. No big deal, right? I’m not too sure on Antivan’s views of gay people so I don’t have much of a say. But I do know that — if they were in the AU the same time the DA:I game occurs — they’d leave their family in order to go be a part of the Inquisition. Roman is the favorite child because Remus is a bit of a pariah (we love him tho) and that has caused only minor bad blood between the two. I think that Remus and Roman would get along surprisingly well during this time, to be honest. I also think, if they were to travel and be a part of the game’s story, they’d be incredible allies to have. Of course, Roman is a bit picky about certain things (he’s a noble boy, idk what else to say) and Remus definitely has a fascination with magic and necromancy but. oh well. Roman is fond of the smart elvhen scholar and Remus has a big ol crush on V.

Virgil would be a Dalish elf (nomad elf, an elf that tries to preserve old culture and tradition, doesn’t live in cities, trades, has a clan) and I think he’d be a mage. I don’t think he’d have a particularly strong role in his clan (not like the Keeper (the leader) or their First (second in command)) but maybe he’d learn some healing magic alongside whatever comes to him naturally. I think he’d find Storm magic particularly appealing (I’m not kidding it’s called storm magic he could strike people with lighting it’s badass). I think he’d have vallaslin (facial tattoos dedicated to any elvhen god — later revealed to have a different meaning than what he’d believe but he doesn’t know that) of the god Falon’Din (god of the dead + those who guide others to the afterlife). I think he’d handle the pain of the tattoos well and be quite proud of himself when it’s done. If he were to travel and be a part of the game’s story, I think he’d be a good man to have on your side, as he’s always thinking of things to do and how to protect yourself.

Or he’s a spirit. There’s a character in game named Cole; he’s a spirit of Compassion. Who’s to say Virgil couldn’t be the same? He was once a human (or elf, either work, the main two I see fitting him mainly) and he passed away; a spirit found him and took his form. Became him, in a way. Became Virgil and stayed the spirit. Virgil but he’s a spirit now. There are types of spirits in the game but none that directly fit him — sooooooooo I’ll be lazy and not give him a type :3 he’d be a rogue instead of a mage this time, with daggers that he uses to pop up, fight, and then disappear with. Not everyone in the Inquisition would trust him but Virgil would be very shifty in defense of himself so he wouldn’t mind. Remus and Logan would be fascinated by him though.

I’m so unsure on Patton. I want to make him a qunari (tall, grey-toned skin, follows a strict religious code unless a deserter, then just operates on one’s own as basically a fugitive) but I also want to make him a dwarf. problem with this is I know very little on either culture in game and am not very good at putting it all together through the various wikis I have read. Just know that either he’s very tall or very short and he uses a sword because it’s very convenient and he usually doesn’t like to fight. I can see him trying to be diplomatic and it not working. We love him though. This is literally the one I can’t decide; I gotta make a character for each race and play through to figure it out then decide.

Human Janus who is from Orlais (fancy rich people with their noses so high in the air they can’t see where they’re walking) and is an expert at figuring people out. He’s always drawn attention because he has a massive burn mark over the side of his face that makes people give him weird looks — it was from a childhood accident that healers couldn’t totally fix. He’s in a very rich and noble scholarly family. Yes, he’s met the twins. Lets say he bonded with one and not the other (Remus and Roman). He’s essentially a spymaster for his own family. He runs the diplomatic relations and the family endeavors and if anyone tries to come across his family lineage (trust me, there are some, his family isn’t the most well liked and Orlais is all about screwing others over). He’d join the Inquisition in the main storyline and claim that he “needed a challenge” but it was definitely for a change of scenery. He’d work with the Inquisition’s spymaster and maybe help his own family out from afar. (weirdly fond of the puffball... Patton—)

Then finally Logan. I view Logan as a Dalish elf who was taken from his clan as soon as he showed signs of magic. it wasn’t by his choice. He was sent to a magic school (called a Circle) where he had templars (cops) breathing down his neck to approve what he was studying. He hated it. That’s an understatement. When the mage rebellion happened and mages wanted their freedom to study what they want, Logan joined. He became an apostate and, while unable to return to his clan because of the distance, joined the Inquisition. He was always very good at all sorts of magic and stories and mythos so he was considered a scholar despite his background. I don’t think he’d have vallaslin — too young for it when he was taken. But I think he’d be like this other character Solas (Solas when I catch you Solas you fucking egg /neg /lh) except… better. He’d be considered a city elf by then but he never forgot his family. Just made a new one. I think he and elvhen Virgil would bond over their backgrounds and mutual understanding of one another and that would be the blossom of their friendship. I think he would be intrigued absolutely FASCINATED by spirit Virgil and how it all works and I think he’d be sympathetic and defend the fact he’s a spirit and not a demon. But ngl he wants to kiss the wine guy.

I’m so sorry it’s so long. I didn’t even talk about the relationship dynamics in depth or the appearances I have in mind or anything. its so long sorry. :3 teehee

my aunt has two grandsons, the eldest, who she mostly raised, (just realized he's 16 and I feel fucking old) has always been extremely emotional. crier of the family, would have tantrums, would watch diary of a wimpy kid when quote "he needed a good cry"

the younger he extreme anger issues, blow outs and physical harm. opposite side of the spectrum, but very emotional.

her son recently married a woman who already had a daughter, very well behaved and polite, listens, very good kid. she was given some candy and wanted to eat it then, my aunt told her no. she walked into the other room, sat down on the floor and was silently crying. no making a deal out of it, no fighting, just calm quiet to herself crying.

my aunt in the kitchen starts bitching about how she can't stand girls and they're far too emotional.

yeah this is sooooooooo common. i’ve seen this so many times man it’s just so infuriating !!! and seeing young girls get shit on just drives me insane. like, as a woman do u like realize that this girl is going to get shit on for the rest of her life, and you are about to contribute to it. idk just shdjaiwiy

9: How do you find new fic to read?

I generally just go into the tag of the series I want to read fic for and sort by latest posted, descending! from there I go based on tags + description to see what interests me. I never look at stats, I just go based on what sounds good to me/what im in the mood for that particular day

sometimes if I want something more specific ill go into specific relationship tags, or specific trope tags like hurt/comfort

17: What highly specific AU do you want to read or write even though you might be the only person to appreciate it?

theres a vague idea in my head for a DS9 AU where Rom is a trans woman and its entirely because of Profit and Lace and how Rom didnt HESITATE to demonstrate how to act "womanly"

in my head this goes hand in hand with my Julian is trans headcanon and they bond over being trans and Julian helps Rom figure things out. it'd really be about exploring this idea of a Ferengi being trans- which I think is a really interesting concept with their society- but also a story about someone older, who is a father and has been twice married, getting to realize these things in a supportive environment and getting to explore gender and transness. Leeta is taking Rom dress shopping and getting her fitted at Garak's. Julian is giving her estrogen. Jadzia and Kira are inviting her to their weekly bitch session night. can you tell I think about this a lot

sooooooooo tomorrow I'm getting minor surgery, which wouldn't generally fall under "gender affirming," but for me it is

I came with a uterus factory-installed and used to get just hellacious debilitating periods, extremely heavy bleeding + pain + nausea + occasional vomiting + bloodstaining everything in my fucking life, worsened by them being irregular so I couldn't predict or plan for them (extra difficult to manage while working in construction, on rooftops, in the woods...)

they stopped when I got my HRT dose figured out, and I've been period-free since late 2017 or early 2018, thank every relevant fucking god

I am genderqueer/nonbinary and prior to HRT I felt pretty androgynous - I was unhappy with my voice and my chest, primarily, though some of the other effects of medical transition have also been good and helpful (unexpectedly I'm much happier with my junk hormonally reconfigured?? who knew) but many parts of my presentation were satisfactory

now that I've stabilized on some of those permanent changes (and had top surgery!), I would like to stop HRT and see how I feel, whether I need that hormonal basis to feel right in my skin or if taking my endocrine system off manual and running it on automatic is ok

(reasons include Getting Read Too Confidently As A Dude, frequent institutional fuckups while trying to get my hormones, aggressive familial baldness genes, and so on)

HOWEVER I would NOT like to resume the Unpredictable Frequent Menstrual Ordeal From Hell - and I wanted to avoid the invasiveness of a hysterectomy. SO!

the procedure I'm getting is called an endometrial ablation - it's pretty common for cis women with "abnormal" menstrual situations. they basically zap the uterine lining, the bit that builds up tissue over the month that then gets shed during the menstrual period. the device uses RF energy like a microwave and just cooks that lining. it scars over, and once it's healed, no more bleeding.

interestingly, this obgyn surgeon has done many hystos for trans dudes, and MANY ablations for cis women, but never an ablation on a trans body before. I've never heard of it in a trans healthcare setting. he didn't even think to offer it to me as an option - I told him I came across it in my research, and he sat back in his chair, looking surprised, and said, "yeah, that would work."

the catch is that it's not 100% guaranteed to stop 100% of your period. you might get a little light bleeding still. but I'm not dysphoric about it - I just can't deal with the heavy painful terrible bleeding. so it's a fine intervention for me. if it proves to be insufficient, the next step would be a hysto, but that's already the step most folks in my situation take. I wouldn't be worse off than I started.

so anyway! that's tomorrow! actually it's like eight hours from now! aaaaaaaaaaaaa!

this combination smells like what i wanted fm carnal flower to be sooooooooo bad. but thats got that strange green melon note that i just couldnt enjoy no matter how hard i tried. or maybe i would like it now…my tastes have changed significantly since i last smelled it. but either way this is very nice 🙂 i love l’occitane body milks they are such a good texture if you are a lotion girly. and they smell so good this one is a very photorealistic and bitter.. almost acrid green tea but still very lovely. and it plays so nicely with a fresher more natural white floral like do son. it makes an already not-too-sweet floral even less sweet and takes it to a somewhat more ambiguously gendered zone..which is strange to say for a white floral but its true. its really nice and refreshing and good for a hot day! will be a good layering combo for summer. i thought about decluttering do son cuz i prefer gucci bloom to be honest. but i may keep it for this

i have so many thoughts about the way people talk and think about jimin these days but im so scared putting them on public posts will get me doxxed or some shit. people are very attached to the idea that jimin acts openly queer which is really like. well. yeah. i definitely think people reallyyyy need to remember it doesnt matter how much you believe someone famous is queer theyre just presenting in a way that makes them happy and you really do NOT need to decide whether that's queer or not lmao in fact i think it says way more about someone when they decide he's queer because he doesnt act like a "typical man". like yeah in his performances obviously he explores gender some times but like sometimes songwriters are also exploring themes and thoughts that are purely creative. sometimes its not about them (and sometimes it is!) but. yeah. you can PERCEIVE him as queer if it makes you happy but you gotta remember thats not fact thats just what YOU think. yknow. and i also think this translates kinda into the fic people consume and create.

like here's the thing. people dont need to ACT a certain way to be considered men like thats ridiculous if youre a man youre a man regardless of how you act or what u say or what bits you have. same for any gender. which is why i generally think critiquing the cringey wattpad fics is a slippery slope. however, do i also think a lot of them have a very distinct cishet girl fantasy..... yes. but its embarrassing to write Y/N fic. so theyve gotta vent their desires somehow which is like fine i dont give a shit what people write. (as much as it bothers me how uncritically people read it and get it popular) but sometimes in a/b/o especially....... its VERY clear when your biases come out. which is why its sooooooooo obvious when someone who has never met real life queer people writes it. for example grouping "women and omegas" like they fill the same role despite being different subgenders when u could specify like. omegas and female betas. if u wanted. implying that women are still women even if theyre alpha but omegas are not men anymore. you get me? the fact that u decided to include male/female gender essentialism in the fic genre specifically around Not doing that is so unbelievably on the nose. and yet i see it everywhere. (i also think this is a symptom of people never having read other fandoms tho. they dont even know about gock [girl cock]).

also fics where the major antagonists are a group of girls that harrass jimin r super mean bc god we cant have a MAN do that or he's a predator. you get me? and the alpha jk who is quiet and broody and doesnt even HAVE to fight bc he's soooooooo strong the other alphas are just scared of his vibes. like you know the type of fic im describing. in general whenever the major antagonist of the fic is a bunch of women who also want to fuck jk (which like. if we're supposed to believe jk is soooo hot... like. they should?) and the author calls them a "gaggle" of women and emphasises how they "giggle" and their high pitched unpleasant voices..... brother we have some serious internalised misogyny to unpack with that one.

heyyyy i saw your post about the book this is where it ends and I literally just finished it like a couple hrs ago and omg omg omg omg i was frickin bawling my eyes out but like it was sooooooooo good anyway i would totally like to talk to u about if u want:)

hello, this has been sitting in my asks for a long time and I do apologise for taking so long to get back to it, reading 'this is where it ends' was an emotional experience for myself as well and I'd love to rant with you over it. You could always send in a dm or ask about it and I'd always be willing to reply (can't say at the earliest) And I absolutely love you for reaching out cuz this book brings so many memories! I read it like 2 years ago and this book was what I read for my November Depression feels but it made me more depressed for the holiday season, it's a wonderful read and I'm sure you already know this.

The book is intense and for someone who heard about school shootings and always associated it as an 'American' thing, it helped me to connect with the bigger picture outside of sympathy for innocent lives lost, the books had had an impact on me even after so many months. Honestly, it was the one push I required to pursue teen psycology and gender studies as a subject.

Tomas and Fareed felt more personal and it's strange that Slyvia and Tomas reminded me of my own relationships with siblings. The book honestly haunts on so many levels to a reader, I can talk about it for ages. And well I sobbed over Tomas's death and the last scene where they come together to mourn their losses just didn't give the justice to the lives lost. Like I was mourning for a character's lost but truth be told a lot of people (and there are numbers to support it) every year lose someone to school shootings and when the writer doesn't empower the character to make a difference but just makes them and the reader feel helpless, it leaves a bigger mark and Nijkamp succesfully did that.

Enough for a rant, I assume- I know this doesn't really go on to the detailed talk about book you had been looking for but it's been a while and the book looking back is just one masterpiece culminated into saddest stories I have read in a while.
