With the coast witch...

'I want to go with you.'
'Of course you do. Take my bag, I'll tell you what to bring.'
You take one of the many bags down from a stand and pack a small, heavy pouch of what the witch calls water eaters and a case of cold vials no longer than your little finger.
The witch pinches the bridge of her nose and sighs. 'Let's go.'
You arrive at a blue house near the viewing platform you first saw by the maritime museum. She mutters, 'The things I do,' and bangs on the front door.
The coast witch opens the door, already looking bored with the conversation. 'How... nice of you to come by. Would you like some tea?' She leads you to a sitting room much less cluttered than yours.
'This isn't a social call.'
'Then why are you in my house?'
The witch settles in a chair and heaves a long-suffering sigh. 'Pumpkin Bread. We're expecting rain in the next day or so.'
'This could have been a message.'
She looks like she might scream. Lex waves to get your attention from the other side of the room and you follow them into a kitchen. They kick the door closed behind you.
'Good practice to not be around them for over a minute.'
'What's their deal? And what does pumpkin bread have to do with this?'
'Wait.' They disappear for a minute and return carrying a sleeping cat so orange it's almost brown. 'Pumpkin Bread's this little fella. Those two have been married and divorced at least three times and mine took him in the last two divorces.'
You scratch Pumpkin Bread behind the ears. He half opend his eyes, stretches, then settles back to sleep. 'Why did we need to tell you about the rain?'
'First reason is our work's harder in rougher weather, but I don't think your witch cares about that. Second is that Pumpkin Bread needs cuddles when it rains because he gets so scared.' They snort. 'Dumber than a wall of bricks but a real hit with old women.'
'My cat at home was scared of heights.'
'That's kind of perfect, honestly.'
The front door slams hard enough to rattle the glasses to your right. You think you should leave.
