the main difference between inej and kaz is that kaz is in the gang wars and cruel schemes of his own volition, his choosing and inej isn't. after kaz survives, his first (and only) thought is vengeance. after inej is out of the menagerie, her first thought is freedom. she never goes for tante heleen like kaz goes for pekka. she decides that she'll fight slavers and free slaves - she goes to the root of the problem. kaz can't see the root of his situation and he essentially becomes pekka rollins while wanting to exact punishment on him. it never occurs to him to dismantle the system, he just learns to navigate it like a shark (a true capitalist icon, jk). they both do much amoral shit to get by but we know that kaz chose this lifestyle and inej is there to pay off her debt so she can finally be free

I want vampires who are a little spooky. They walk the line between Here and There, they know of the Veil, they know the magic of Names and the Threshold, and if they live for long enough, they may even learn what the stars speak of.
'oh, so you want Fae, not vampires-'
No, because I still want that Earthly need for life. They must feed from living beings, as we all feed from living beings. They want blood and flesh and heat and life. They are as much man and beast as we all are, almost TOO alive sometimes.
'oh, so then you just want werewolves-'
NO, because they are not the struggle between Man and Beast, vampires are the midpoint between our humanity and ALL our darkest desires. They are dancing to the song of the darkness, they are knowing the taste of your fellow man in many ways, they are looking into the void and finding it unassailably beautiful.
'oh, so you ACTUALLY want-'
NO. I KNOW WHAT I WANT. AND IT'S SPOOKY, OLD-MAGICY, NON-ROTTING CORPSE VAMPIRES.

somewhat wine drunk on the bus rn, pondering some nonsense AUs to pass the time and I'm currently trying to come up with a scenario where Maedhros (?) (Actually, maybe Maglor tries advocating for stealth over brute force in a vague appeal to morality) rallies his brain cells after dior & silmaril show up in doriath and decides that actually, a heist worked for lúthien and beren and we dont really have that much of an army to spare right now and arranges some sort of undercover mission to steal the Silmaril back. I do not want this to be a fix-it, I want everything to go just as badly and for nobody to look better in the end. I think some good candidates for the caper would be cruel servant of celegorm #1 and #2 (i mean, debatable if this would be left in the hands of some underlings. Ok listen. Unnamed wife 1 and 2 are Feanors kin, technically. Horrendous girls' trip??) but I'm not sure what genre I'd want this to be, could go either in the gritty and depressing or the dark comedy direction

SatBK Prompt Week, Day 5: Magic!
Merlina has some pretty big shoes to feel, and she can't help but feel even less up to the task every single time she visits her grandfather's tower. Magic she understands, but what are these strange symbols and materials he has scattered about...?
Inspired by that one amazing theory that Merlina is Maria! That would make Merlin Gerald, then!
All the scribbles are a combination of the formulas Gerald had scribbled on the wall (as far as I could tell anyway lol) and alchemical symbols.
Thank u to my buddy, Essy, who gave me a Gerald alchemist idea that I have since run with. Magic and science combined!! Seems like the kinda thing Gerald-Merlin would be all about!!

My friend and I have decided that villains who've experienced nothing but suffering and then death come back as kitty cats who get to nap in the sun

Ok I've said this before maybe but I think my favorite thing about comics Zuko is he keeps his anger and his stubbornness and his issues post-redemption. Far too often, I htink redeemed villains are watered down to only their good traits since they're 'good guys' now, but that leaves flat, 2D characters. But Zuko STAYS fucked up and that's wonderful of him.
