jackie, it's not where we're used to it, but you got the spot you deserve. you deserve to be in f1 wether thats with alfa romeo, alpine or red bull, and you finally got there. i remember the first time you told me "life always has its way", and it does. you deserve all the good things coming your way. now here's sappy thank you because i probably won't do a long caption like this until an engagement (preferably ours😇)
you came in at the right time in my life when everything was going wrong for me and i needed change. you knew that and encouraged it, but you never made me change myself. i always had to do what felt right and "life would have its way", and it did.

Hi everyone. I still don´t have my laptop and I´m writing on my phone so things are taking me forever. To the anon that requested: hope you like this, i know you said bahrain but i felt like that was a suggestion and an example? i thought that after silverstone it was the best scenario for this.
ship: charles leclerc x fem!reader.
summary: You’ve been in a long term relationship with Charles and he’s having late night doubts about the next race after what happened in Silverstone.

You weren't supposed to go to Austria with him, You had exams next week and you wanted to study but Silverstone had been a disaster. The look on Charles's face when he arrived in Monte Carlo on Monday broke your heart a bit. Both had agreed to go to dinner but even then you could see the expression of sadness and anger in him. You had been furious yourself after seeing how Mattia had grabbed Charles after the race in an image that had gone around the world. Everyone was talking about the internal fire that was the Italian team and you knew that the rumors were not far from the truth. Charles was supposed to go to the factory but he had decided to stay in Monaco and switch off for a couple of days before the next race in Austria only for Mattia to decide she wanted to meet him in Monaco since Charles was not going to Maranello. That man was starting to piss you off.
In the end, you decided to go to Austria to give him some extra support. It was the night before the race and you were both in bed, you finishing reading a book for one of your exams, and Charles trying to complete sudoku but you noticed that he had been looking at the page for the last five minutes without even writing a word.
"Ok, what's going on? Spit it out" You told him closing your book and setting it aside on the bedside table.
"Nothing" He replied looking up to see you and you gave him an 'I don't believe a word' look.
"Give me some credit." You had been dating for the past six years but had known each other since you were teenagers and went to school together. You thought you guys were already at a point where you could guess each other's moods with just a glance.
"I wanna believe this is going to be my race" Charles murmured "I really do"
"It´s going to be your race" You assured him giving him a small smile
"So were Barcelona, Monaco, Baku, and Silverstone"
You frowned at the pessimistic mood he seemed to be in. "Ok, what´s going on inside that head of yours?"
"I'm in my dream team" He pointed out "The one I've been in since I was a kid and still it keeps letting me down" You felt really bad for him, you knew he had always wanted to be part of Ferrari, ever since he had joined the academy "I can be the best driver on the grid and still not win"
"The Ferrari blunders are not your fault"
"That's the point, I know I'm good but even so, I still can't win" Charles let out a moan of complaint lying on the pillow on the bed next to you "We had started so well"
"The season is still long" You pointed "It's only halfway through"
"I feel like everything is my responsibility, I can't even trust my team's decisions now," He said and you felt bad for him.
"You do know that everyone is waiting for you to enter your villain era, right?" You suggested trying to lighten the atmosphere and he raised his eyebrows.
"I could never do that to the team, to Mattia" He sighed. One of the things you liked most about him was how loyal he was to the people he loved and trusted in him when he was just a teenager.
"I know it's tricky to ask you this, but is Ferrari the team for you?" You knew it wasn't like Charles had many options either, Mercedes, Red Bull, and McLaren weren't an option for him and that wasn't how the academies worked in Formula One either. People that thought other teams were an option didn´t know him at all or didn´t know how the academies worked.
"It's my dream team," He told you frowning at your question.
"Dreams change"
"Still, I don't see myself changing teams any time soon." He sighed. "If I'm ever going to win a championship, I want it to be with Ferrari." You knew perfectly well that was his lifelong dream.
You felt so bad for him. He was being let down by his dream team. It was like seeing the child he had been with the world collapsing around him and his dreams shattering "Listen, it's normal to feel disappointed after what happened but you can't keep thinking about it or you'll spend the season frightened by things you can't change
Charles nodded slowly at your words which made you frown a bit, he had something else going around in his head that he wasn't telling you. You confirmed it when he spoke again.
"I feel like my father would be so disappointed if he could see me right now." He murmured and you wanted to burst into tears at how vulnerable he sounded.
"Babe, listen, you could be doing anything else and your father would still be proud of you," You told him leaning towards him and gently stroking his hair "He wanted you to fulfill your dreams, whatever they were"
"He died dreaming of me racing Formula One," Charles pointed out.
"And you did it, I think you feel like you're letting yourself down and your dream of winning the championship considering how good you are in the scoring table" You replied before snuggling up against his side.
"I feel like they were never focused on winning the championship and helping me do it." He responded by gently stroking your hair as you pressed against his side.
"I think Mattia said that to get the pressure off you?" You suggested in a questioning tone although you weren't sure that was the case after saying that 'we are not fighting for championships, we are not ready' as if Charles had not been up on the table.
"At the time I felt that way" He agreed and you rested your head on his chest "but now I'm not so sure anymore"
He had never been arrogant, he was always known for being aware of his talent but he never needed to brag about it so to see him doubt his abilities meant that somehow, Silverstone had made him hit rock bottom "Babe, you're il predestinato" Charles rolled his eyes at your words and you giggled "I know you don't like the nickname much but do you think that if you weren't that good the Tifosi wouldn´t be destroying you right now instead of taking it with the team? They know that Ferrari screwed up, you're so good that even in a broken or shitty car like the ones you had the last two years, you still managed to win podiums." You shrugged. "Don't let Ferrari's dumb strategies make you doubt your talent." you caressed the chest gently "You are incredibly talented, don't blame yourself for other people's bad decisions"
Charles was quiet for a while before speaking again. You both stayed in that position for a while, with you pressed against his side and him gently stroking your hair.
"What a motivational speech" He scoffed.
"For what it's worth, I think you're the best driver on the grid" You let out a laugh before giving him a wink "And the hottest too"
"And I'm here worried because you were going to change me for Max"
"I would never" You pretended to be offended "He could never whisper dirty things to me in French"
"I´m pretty much sure he knows french" Charles pointed.
"Ok, I´m listening" You leaned on your elbows to turn to see him "Does his apartment have better views than yours?" You asked him and he let out a laugh. At least he no longer had that abandoned puppy face.
You rested your head on his chest again before you spoke again "Babe?" You called him up raising your head again to see him "You're going to be amazing this weekend" You assured him "Just do what you do best, drive and breathe" That was something you had always told him when he felt pressured, You knew that once he lowered the visor of his helmet, he didn't think about anything else anyway, but you had always told him to just drive and breathe. "the rest will accommodate itself"
"Thanks for coming" He replied before kissing you on the top of your head.
"Are you kidding? I wouldn't want to be anywhere else right now, I´m your personal cheerleader" You scoffed.
"I would love to see you in one of those uniforms," He said and you raised your eyebrows before placing yourself on top of him.
"Ok, now we are talking, Leclerc" You replied. At least he now seemed to be thinking of something else and even better if what he was thinking included whispering you dirty things in French.

Endlich bin ich nach Hause.
Late arrival (2230) at BAH last night meant a late night for me.
Flights went well, aside from a scare the morning of departure that my connect to Germany had been canceled. Lufthansa re-booked me for another flight same day so no worries, except I had to be downgraded to economy (I'd booked Premium Economy roundtrip). It won't bad...a steady supply of Beck's in-flight made up for it (and the baby that apparently was being murdered further up the plane). Oh and there was a Hot Flight Attendant™ who was serving some excellent eye candy and his German made me feel things.
United Airlines' app made the experience super fuckin' easy and I gotta say, for my first time flying international (MAC doesn't count 'cause it operates differently), it was a lot less intimidating than I thought and an unusually enjoyable experience.
Leave was good aside from some of the fam being sick (I am not). Glad I was able to catch a Norfolk Admirals game, despite them being shutout, and that there was decent enough weather for me to some pew pew therapy. But I'm really glad I was able to visit/harass/reconnect with my German teacher (an Actual German™) from high school, who I've kept in touch with ever since, as my schedule often doesn't allow that. She's retired now so maybe I can work that out more easily. Anyway she told me my German was still very good, which gave me rainbows in my soul, 'cause I was worried it had gone to shit since I don't have any way of practicing my speaking. And yes I 100% put "Dicke Titten" on her stereo and sang along after probably my 4th glass of real German riesling. Our texts are a random mixture of English and German, sometimes in the same sentence, and I love that.
Bae has been an old man and slept a lot today while I did some errands and paid the rent. Typical officer. My leave ends this weekend, but my watch team isn't scheduled to work, so I got some extra time to regulate to Bahrain time and the night shift schedule.

Some white radfems are so stupid and tone-deaf. (unsure if libfems do this too but in this case it was a radfem) I saw one talking about how beauty standards, which is great, excellent, go her, she had great ideas but added a bit in there saying how it affects women and girls of all races equally.
I wonder if she has ever spent hours a day, every week, sobbing having a mental breakdown because of her hair type, skin color, or facial features that are painfully obviously not white.
My parents have never let me straighten my hair and it gets out of hand because it's 4b. I want to cut it all off in the moment sometimes from being upset but I spent years growing it because I would get made fun of by my white school in 6th grade. I'm a junior now and I'll still stand in the mirror crying, trying to comb out my hair that I have zero patience for and I just want to scream from anger and sadness, there is literally nothing anyone can tell me to make me love having hair this coily, thick, difficult, that gets matted so easily. I've accepted that but it makes me sick that I don't have straight hair. It looks like a breeze to combo through not to mention all the pretty styles you can do with it and how it basically always looks beautiful (to me).
I stay out of the sun at all costs. Admittedly all my friends are white and I don't understand the slightest why they would ever want to tan. I know that I have internalized racism but it feels terrible because I'm not even that dark and I'm disgusted the color because it doesn't feel like me or what I want to be. I naturally bleach my skin and I still feel gross because even if I ever did reach the shade I want to be, guess what, my features (and hair) are a dead giveaway that I'm not white. I have used literal clothespins on my nose since 8th grade so that my alar base can be cute and narrow, I see results but it's never enough. I'm never happy. It will never pass as a white girls nose. My lips are also big. but need I say anything more, kek.
I legitimately can't imagine how worse it is for black girls who are actually dark skinned, or have features that arent in the slightest white looking, for lack of better word. So what the hell?
It feels as if I'm having major cognitive dissonance because I hate talking about race (I like to pretend things are fine and dandy) and Im probably what ppl call a coon because I am like a #1 white woman defender and I act white, but that one just -_-'d me.
It physically pains me knowing that I cannot be white.
So, come on, what-the-hell-ever if you don't address how it can affect certain races more, but claiming its all equal? Far from it.
wow, that’s terrible anon. i can understand your pain somewhat. growing up, i also hated my skin colour, my nose, and my hair :( i hope one day u learn to love those features and stop trying to change your body like this. i would also try to stay away from the sun, hoping it’d make me as white as a lot of people in bahrain are (it wouldn’t, im naturally brown anyways). i used to beg for skin bleaching and lightening products and im glad my mother was against it bc im now at a point where i like that im not white. i realise now the problem isnt with how i look, it’s with society.
you’re right tho that beauty standards aren’t the same for all women. the beauty standards affect woc in a unique way due to racism mixed with misogyny.
