oh my fucking god i feel. SO stupid rn at How i didnt make the (super sane very normal just absolutely. Yes. Surely) connection earlier but uhh

so anyway im now like 89% certain that whatever the "traces" of the narwhal that remain on ajax and facilitate their (ever-growing) innate connection are like. an actually fundamental aspect of it (them?) more or less.

why? because if you consider its pov just for a moment. the narwhal was literally about to depart teyvat for good. it had nearly finished consuming the primordial sea and preparing to breach surface to finish the job by eating the french for the leftovers their human bodies were made from. its an interstellar voyager it does not linger on planets it devours. it goes glug glug and it leaves.

and like if it wasnt for traveler intervening its confirmed through narzissenkreuz and renes world formula that teyvat wouldve just been destroyed. no one could have stopped the narwhal not neuvillette not focalors not anyone.

so what was the one other thing it did right before going for that french brunch? calling for ajax. getting them reunited in the primordial sea. like all the possible implications aside bc theres many different ways to speculate on the exact reasons why and the nature of that link. the point remains.

it wasnt leaving teyvat without finding him.

like the narwhal is about to fucking Dip from this cringe planet and whatever part of it that ajax carries within himself his narwhal Absolutely wanted to be reunited with. what the fuck am i supposed to read from that. hoyo???????!??! answers?!?!?!

and its not only the calling from the narwhal side itself either bc this is ALL coinciding with the growth of a 'restless power' within ajax and his vision malfunctioning (the things celestia is literally confirmed to harvest energy thru to repair its damaged authority) and his connection with the narwhal reaching an actual conscious level (arguably subconscious n emotional too bc i find it Curious his mood is poor right as the narwhal is repeatedly described as positively malding to the point its boss fight mechanic is literally a rage meter). ajax' power is growing. his destiny is starting to shift and something is drawing him to fontaine... right as the narwhal is getting close to finished with the primordial sea. funny how it overlaps eh. how it aligns 🤨🤨 why are they orbiting each other like this (they should kiss)

(& not to even Mention how ajax just Happened to get that absolutely exponential and borderline unbelievable feat of power spike in extending his foul legacy endurance as massively as he did. while. within the primordial sea. with his narwhal. who had at that point all but incorporated the power of that sea into itself. i s2g if childe was getting passive home turf co-op bonus exp with a 4x multiplier automatically the whole 40+ days 💀💀)

i wrote this as a joke because I wanted to strangle a guy watching tiktoks without headphones on the bus, but im genuinely disturbed that we've gotten to a point where convenience comes first. and it depresses me even more that its used to justify and monetize greed

#like we have so many ways of doing things that could help us in the long run but because we're told it requires more work we just cant #its too resource intensive. or maybe its too much to maintain. we have to overlook benefits so money can go into more important things #we teach each other to do things a certain way so it works for everyone but who was it convenient for first? what abt who it might hurt?#i have to wonder if the rules our current system uses is worth listening to or following if it doesnt have our best interests in mind. u an #me and the ppl around us.. would we be better off if i ate my meals knowing the person who grew it wanted to feed others the way they could #feed themselves? and that isnt to say we're going to be happy doing it but i guess satisfied that its helping someone instead of quietly #accepting that itll eventually go in the dumpster behind a grocery store because it stopped looking appetizing or it wasnt on sale anymore #what about building homes so we can shelter each other? what if we were satisfied with what we did because we knew it would be paid back #with kindness? isnt that what we evolved to do?? heal each others bones and tell stories and help each other??#why dont houses come with solar panels or generators unless we find a way to make people pay to use the sun? why is our pooled money used #to fund genocides instead of education and hospitals? whose interests and convenience came first when we started this??#i wont pretend to know the answer because i dont. but we all know we're miserable and im sorry to say that i cant see myself fighting #for a world that wont fight for me too. why do we work if we cant live from it?? why did they stop us from plucking more teeth from our #bosses until they could build more walls around themselves and then go back to underpaying us??#im so tired. i cant even imagine making it to age 70 #yapping #vent

Yeah, Rolan absolutely gets Most Useful Non-Party Ally. He put Mage Armor on Gale when I forgot. He stayed a reasonable distance from the main melee. He thunderwaved his shitty mentor and several elementals off a balcony, killing several and softening the others up.

roommate undertale update: last time we played we stopped right before the mettaton fight which will then go on like immediately to the asgore fight and so now i have to go and do the most pacifist grinding through hotland possible so that we'll be able to afford enough healing items for both fights because they gave muffet all of their fucking money

Florrickology, Part 4.5: "Lady Mizora" really could have fucked

I made this point in Florrickology Part 4, laying out the various simple ways that Larian could have contextualized Florrick confronting Wyll in Act 3 in a way that was a) not stupid and shitty and b) faithful to her characterization, but I've been thinking more about it and holy fuck does it suck that they didn't just capitalize on "Lady Mizora."

Because Ulder threw Wyll away for cavorting a devil, right?

That's unacceptable; there's never an excuse for something so selfish, reckless, and just plain stupid. His son may have been his pride and joy up to that moment, but how could he possibly forgive Wyll? How could he possibly trust him again?

But what if Florrick, his trusted advisor, closest confidant, greatest champion, fondest friend, the person who supported him more than his own family, did almost the same exact thing?

He could blame Wyll. His son should have known better. He raised Wyll better than that.

But... how could he possibly blame Florrick? He knows she's not selfish, reckless, or stupid. He couldn't not forgive Florrick. He couldn't not trust her again.

And... he doesn't look at Florrick and see himself. His hopes and dreams. His triumphs and failures. His beloved wife. He doesn't see a little boy who got misty-eyed over mermaids and loved to go fishing outside of Wyrm's Rock. There are none of those big, gooey feelings that hard-ass leader dad duke guys aren't the best at synthesizing and expressing.

In Florrick, he sees a friend and equal. A paragon of the best of the city. A public servant of the finest mettle.

She was a victim, no doubt about it. Anyone can be a victim, he knows that, no matter how powerful or intelligent or virtuous they are.

But, isn't that unfair? Why is Wyll culpable but Florrick innocent? He'd have to reconcile that. He'd have to look inside himself and understand the real reasons he cast will out, and with that understanding, seek Wyll's forgiveness.

#also this would have been absolutely fuckable for an Undercover Gala type of quest #like roll up on some Upper City Shindig and Florrick is in an even sexier dress with Mizora's hand on her ass #masquerade masks and shit #boss fight and those other booby cambions pop out #sometimes I contemplate an AU in which Florrick pacted with Mizora instead of Wyll #not in a 'erase Wyll from his own narrative way'#but in a 'I am sexualizing this narrative' way #bc everything Mizora says to Wyll is disgusting but if she said it to a bossy ass 100+yr old elven MILF.... now we're talkin #florrickology #counsellor florrick #wyll ravengard #ulder ravengard #bg3

i've been dead and gone bc of school and jobsearching and everything happening all at once but ive been playing the boktai series games lately and i'm enjoying it a lot. I just got past the third boss in boktai 2. I don't know why but i'm enthralled with these games, i highly recommend them

#WOE TEN THOUSAND TAG MUSINGS BE UPON YE (this is a warning)#boktai #(pointing) the battle network fan has fallen for the crossover marketing 20 years late #the first gif is bc i imagine the bosses waiting all polite like for django to finish eating healing items when heal scumming in fights.#twenty apples a day keeps the damage away #django is like a son to me hes just a little guy #if the text is hard to read in the third image it says “The tick damage in sunlight brothers”#i find it funny that vampire django still gains his energy from sunlight after turning. his voiceline changes too #it's hard to tell if it's bc hes supposed to sound gruff or like hes in pain. but it makes me feel bad for recharging energy like that #i figure he'd be wound up abt this since it seems he views any connection to his father with a lot of weight #(e.x: zazie pointing out he's crying just after the gun del sol got stolen at the start of 2)#hence why he's depressed in that image #also all the official art of him looks very cool but im incapable of seeing him like that his sprite makes him look like a scruffy dog #im torn between thinking it's cute nd wanting to make fun of him with doodles. least typical vampire appearance with the most typical power #the way you kill immortals (vampires) in this game is so metal i need to rant abt it Somewhere #so like boktai is a game series abt vampire hunting but it's rather sci-fi abt it. instead of more typical weapons you use solar energy #the immortals resurrect after being killed #but this can be prevented via purification. the way this goes is #after winning a bossfight the enemy will get sealed in a coffin. that you then to drag allll the way back outside the dungeon #(often with new puzzles thanks to the coffin being an extra weight)#all the while the immortal inside tries to escape #the objective is to get the immortal to a. summoning circle i guess?#housing devices called pile drivers. they're more like lenses or mirrors though.#they focus sunrays on the coffin purifying the immortal after a brief fight that's like #preventing the boss from attacking the pile drivers until it dies #like. this doesn't sound all that special but most bosses you fight are sentient and i just think it's a bit of a brutal method #for a main protagonist to use #i keep thinking of how it must feel to do it for a living. something like a funeral driver but you're the murderer and the corpse isn't dea #and instead of a funeral you're taking them to a mega death laser array that'll slowly chip away at their health #and then boktai 2 inflicts that on django and im like. is he ok (he's ok but he died)

Ok so like I've been having thoughts about this. We usually go with how Juno and Minerva royally fucked Desmond over right? Plus aita (and I think Jupiter I can't remember, I think Demeter was a thing too but I'm rusty on Isu lore.) with their bullshit.

Anyway, so remember how Anubis was emphasized in Origins and Bayek actively worked for him in a way? Especially after losing Khemu. Naturally, I think Anubis would follow and protect the bloodline down to Desmond. Because Khemu wasn't supposed to die and now, what if the same thing is happening with Desmond where he isn't supposed to die either? Juno and Minerva are messing with his shit so much that they've basically altered the death date of his favored mortal's descendant.

And Anubis does not take kindly to the tampering of the balance. Of Ma'at. So what if he intended to set it right? So when Desmond is supposed to touch the Eye and do the bidding of either Minerva or fall for Juno's trickery, a third option rises up. Anubis cannot force the outcome to change with force, but he can nudge it off course for a mere moment to alter the result of the Calculations and give Desmond a fraction of a chance to survive.

And maybe if Desmond survives (knowing his luck, he likely will) they could look for the records of Thoth to figure out another way of saving the world. Since touching the Eye and altering the result might have caused only a temporary protection from the solar flare and another is coming.

Desmond dies and Anubis offers him an afterlife of his choosing, but not the kind Desmond expects. It's essentially a do over, a go back and start over kind of thing. Because although he lived, his life was never his own. And Anubis wants to give him that. A life of his own. A chance to change everything. But not without being prepared. Anubis will offer guidance when it is needed most and Sekhmet will not let him be without training.

Technically, Aita didn’t screw him over. He screwed Desmond’s son, Elijah, a lot though XD (Tinia/Jupiter had the least connection with him so I’m not sure how much he screwed Desmond other than being part of the Capitoline Triad that decided to pick him and Demeter didn’t have any appearance in AC other than maybe Odyssey? In a ‘someone uses a god’s name as an expression or something’ kind of way. As far as I remember anyway)

So let’s focus on how we can make this work.

Anubis would probably be part of an Isu research team that focused on the afterlife, maybe even becoming one of the Isus to escape the Solar Flare by using the afterlife program and… live in the Calculations as part of its system.

As the overseers.

The Calculations itself isn’t an entity but the very foundation of the world.

Many would say the soul.

Its fate.

The overseers are tasked with ensuring the Calculations do not end. That the world continues for eternity.

The death of the world means the death of the Calculations.

And without the Calculations, the overseers cannot exist.

He would be the one in charge of ensuring the Calculations stay the course in respect to the lives and deaths of the people.

There is always a margin of error, of course, because humans can show impressive feats of unpredictability at times and it is Anubis’ job to ensure the system can handle those margins of error.

But then…

More and more error pops up as time passes.

And Anubis, as a system administrator and having fused with the system itself, is tasked with finding what the anomaly would be.

And he learns it soon enough.

Juno wants Desmond to die, whispering to him the importance of human life. How one sacrifice is worth to protect the world.

Minerva is telling Desmond to stay his hand, to let the world burn. To keep Juno imprisoned or to save Desmond is unclear. Minerva is asking Desmond to be selfish and prioritize himself.

Either option does not bode well to Anubis according to the system.

The death of billions was not part of the Calculations. They were risking the destruction of the overseers that kept the Calculations going. They risk killing Anubis.

The death of Desmond Miles is a Calculation that will lead to many more deaths and damage to the world. The Calculations is already moving to that path for Desmond has a 98% probability of sacrificing himself at this point in time.

Anubis could let him die.

The tragedies and disasters that would follow his death were far apart enough to keep the Calculations and overseers in motion with minimal problem.

But…

Anubis was an overseer long enough to find… a bit of affection to life. The way mortals live, knowing they will die but doing everything they can to live nonetheless.

Looking for a reason for their lives.

Simply living their lives to the fullest.

Having hope for a brighter future.

Even those in the throes of despair, those who believed they could not get away from the darkness around them.

Whether they crawl out of it or if they are swallowed by it.

They were all beautiful in Anubis’ life.

Living beings are beautiful because they are all unique.

Even if the difference with someone else is minimal, it is still that difference that makes them one of a kind.

Makes them special.

And Anubis cannot do nothing when so many of them will be snuff out before they could live their lives to the fullest.

But he is an overseer.

He cannot intervene directly.

But with another overseer’s support…

He might be able to nudge it a bit.

To give Desmond Miles a bit more life than he actually has.

He knew the people who would be willing to give a part of their life for him.

The three men connected to him the most…

Their data exists in Anubis’ domain.

They might be dead.

But their lives…

No.

Memories.

For what is the very essence of life but the memories made?

As for an overseer to support him?

Sekhmet would help him.

Sekhmet oversaw war but her focus had always been in the lives that were saved. The warmth that lies in the people’s will to live.

Anubis can persuade Sekhmet.

There was still time.

“Entering the next room.” A team of armored soldiers with the logo of Abstergo at the back of their vest walked inside the innermost chamber of the Grand Temple, rifles drawn but finger not on the trigger.

“Target sighted.” The one leading the team said as he aimed his rifle at the lone figure lying on the ground. They begin to fan out as the one in front walked towards the figure cautiously. He made a hand signal and three more men aimed their rifles at the figure while they stayed further back. The other men aimed their rifles at the opening they came from and at the ceiling.

Just as the point man reached the figure, he turned around quickly when he heard a thud from behind him.

“What the fuck?!” The man shouted and the others turned around as another of their team is struck down before he could make a sound.

The darkness of the Grand Temple meant nothing thanks to their night vision goggles but what they saw…

Large figures with dog-like heads…

No.

Masks.

They were masks weren’t they?

“Fire! Fire!”

The three imposing figures used their shield to cover their body, the bullets ricocheting dangerously all over, hitting one of the men closest to them who fell back as he let out a scream.

“Aim for the legs!”

The figure simply covered their legs with their shield as they made their way towards the team and some of them shot at their head as well.

The bullets simply bounced off their heads.

One of them got lucky and managed to shoot the shoulder.

There was no blood.

The point man’s headgear was hit by one of the ricocheting bullets and he had to take it off before the shattered glass could harm him.

That’s how he saw it.

Black smokes coming from the wound. With golden sand falling from the wound.

As it slowly close up.

“Mayday! Mayday! We need- Argh!” Their radioman was struck down by an arrow from one of the figures just as its two companions reached them.

More fell to the other’s large axe.

While the pointman comes face to face with the last one, holding a sword…

He aims his rifle at the monster.

And screamed in pain as the monster cut both his arms off before he could pull the trigger.

He fell to his knees as blood pooled underneath him.

His eyes focused on the monster in front of him.

Behind him, he saw the rest of his team…

Slaughtered.

The figure…

No.

Subject 17…

He was being carried by the monster with the axe.

Did his blackened hand twitch?

He could not be sure.

The last thing he saw was the pommel of the monster in front of him.

The head of the eagle as the world turned dark.

(The jackal masked figures are based on the Anubis servants you can fight in Origin’s Curse of the Pharaohs DLC. Up to you if they’re mindless servants sent to protect and support Desmond or I was hinting on ‘who’ they truly are XD Desmond wakes up later on and that’s when he comes to contact with Anubis.)
