my designs for the sillies!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
elaboration on the designs + some hcs under the cut (it’s a long one folks!)
Ocean: she/her, lesbian, aroace-spec; her hair is naturally a Fucking Curly Mess, so she straightens it out, sprays it, and uses a headband and hair-clips; Ocean always has a pencil behind her ear in case she needs to write something down, but she always forgets she put it there; she has a coat on her waist because a long-sleeved shirt and a vest is not enough. she must not feel an ounce of cold.
Noel: he/she/they, bigender, gay; his hair is also a Fucking Curly Mess so he just puts some gel on and prays to satan it works; Noel tries to tone it down like his mother told him so he doesn’t wear pride merch to school or anything, but he does wear black earrings and black nail polish
Mischa: he/him, bisexual; I basically tried to make him look like the type of person my mom would point at in the street and go “that’s what satan does to a person!!”; Mischa constantly looks like he’s been hit by a bus, he says it’s because he gets into fights, but he’s just a fucking wreck; backwards hat, bi pin and star of David pin because I saw @lemon69lol’s post and have decided that Jewish Mischa is canon now; Ukrainian flag phone case!!; Ricky bought him these BRIGHT neon green crocs for his 18th birthday and he wears it every day (Noel wants to shred those fucking crocs);
Ricky/Savannah: any pronouns + neos, genderfluid, bisexual, demiromantic?; I gave them the neon space cat headphones and crutches as always, but I added spikes to the crutches so my guy can kick some ableist ass, and an AAC device because of an art post THAT I CAN’T FIND! if someone has that one drawing of Ricky with an AAC device strapped to his crutch tell me because I want to give credit to the artist but I CAN’T; genderfluid + any pronouns pin; shoes that aren’t matching and a dress over pants because fuck the dress-code
Jane Doe: she/they/it/doll, unlabeled; I have no idea where this design came from but, Jane with X eyes, I guess; I think I was originally basing her off of Spinel but fuck, what do I know?; doll is based on my Emilia Jane Doe
Constance: she/they, demi-girl, sapphic; I tried to make her hair resemble Trinity Constance because I ADORE their Constance!; hoop earrings and braces because I said so; rainbow socks because she’s fuckin’ queer; colorful band-aids for reasons I will not be telling you, sorry

Concordia Snow ✤ Revelation
Concordia Snow: the Capitol’s Princess, the beautiful and charming granddaughter of President Snow.  To Panem at large, Concordia was the perfect little Capitolite.  Always in fashion, polite and obedient but clever and never missing a party, completely devoted to her grandfather.  Only a very small handful of people knew better, knew that her pretty smile hid sharp teeth and a calculating brain.  The Capitol’s best kept secret, really, that Concordia Snow was a rebel in disguise.  But when the 74th Hunger Games come around, everything changes.  Not because of the volunteer from 12, nor because of the star crossed lovers, but because the night before the Games, Concordia is told of her impending marriage to Seneca Crane.  With no intention of becoming the Chief Gamemaker’s bride, it seems that the time has come for Concordia to play her hand – a hand that will set off a chain of events no one could have ever seen coming.

ORIGINS — EPISODE THREE, END.
ep. 3: legacy. / insp.   transcript under the cut ↓ beginning / previous
They had two children. Their firstborn, Lucien, was Edmund’s heir and proclaimed Prince of Clermont. He had green eyes and black hair just like his father. A year later, Princess Georgina was born.
They were a happy family, even Aelin was aware of it. For her children, she’d do anything to keep them as joyful and safe as she could. Edmund love them, but disliked how both his children inherited her pointy ears.
He made both of them since birth wear bandages to shape them into a ‘normal’ ear shape. In secrecy, Aelin took them off. Her father had told her their ears were what made the d’Evilliers unique.
Their relationship wasn’t as solid it had once been. Edmund still prohibited Aelin from meddling in war affairs, saying her job was to take care of the children, not be a warrior of any sorts.
He was planning on ending his agreement with Peonia, inciting a new war. Even after all those years, he was still hungry for more power. Aelin was worried for her children and what would become of them if a new war broke out.
There’s many theories of what happened on October 13th 1432, but the only thing people are sure of is that King Edmund died that night.
People say he was poisoned by Peonia spies, others that assassins broke in the King and Queen’s chamber and stabbed him in his sleep and forced her to watch.
There’s others than even say the Queen herself assassinated him to avenge what he did to her father and to protect her children from war. But these were just rumors, there was never any solid proof against the Queen.
With King Edmund I dead and Prince Lucien just seven years old, Aelin became Queen Regent of Gardania. She lead the Regency Council for ten years, up until Lucien finally came of age in 1441.
She was a fairly loved Queen. A minority in the Regency Council did disapprove of her Narcisos heritage and plotted to remove her in secret. All done in vain, since she had loyal followers who warned her against the movement.
She had them all punished to death. In Narcisos, she reinstated and rebuilt her father’s academy. She continued his legacy, which was something she promised herself she’d do all those years before.
-----------------
[EMILIA] So it’s a happy ending! [AMELIA] Of some sorts, yes. [EMILIA] When I grow up, I want to be just like Aelin!
[EMILIA] All I have to do is dye my hair white! Make my ears pointy, she also had a birthmark! I guess I can draw it on or something—

tessa’s endless ocs: juliet smoak in violent delights
the smoak girls were known for a lot more than just their hacking skills. they were a team, inseperable and eerily similar except for one tiny thing.
felicity knew who the arrow was. and juliet didn’t.
all she knows is that he keeps hitting up Laurel for favors, so when she decides to swipe her phone and answer a call for the vigilante herself, she’s pulled into the dark life of oliver queen. the life her sister signed up for.
So now she works a part time job as a computer analyst for the CNRI and helps the arrow take down corrupt CEO’s in her free time, and to top it all off, there’s this really hot guy who manages their makeshift hideout, and she’s pretty sure he doesn’t find her rambling attractive at all.

@notsogeniusgirls + zatanna // starter call
insp.
Oh goodness. Zatanna rolled her eyes as Emilia burst into her room. That’s what she got for getting a roomate and not moving into her ancestral home in Gotham. “What did he do this time?” she asked closing the book she was studying with an exasperated tone of voice.
Here we go again, another night of Emilia obsessing.

Do you have any advice on when and when not to take insp from the Bard? Cause I was explaining a story idea to a friend and it kind of sounded like a mashup if the identity of ghost!dad in hamlet was a mystery and hamlet was a girl and her parents were lord and lady Macbeth and their Duncan was fem!Othello only the Lady Macbeth was also fem!Othello's Desdemona
Oh man, this is just my week to be asked questions I have no authority to answer, isn’t it? Okay, here goes…
DISCLAIMER: I’m not an English teacher, nor am I a professional publisher. All of my ‘advice’ is filtering through my own very specific lens as a professional playwright & dramaturg. My dissertation project is a historically rendered fifth play in Shakespeare’s Henriad, my largest WIP is a two-act, modern-day prequel to King Lear, and my next installation is a site-specific piece about eight university students who start reading Love’s Labour’s Lost aloud when they get trapped in a library during a totalitarian takeover. I am probably the most biased person you could ask about taking inspiration from Shakespeare, because it is literally all I ever do.
No surprise, then, that my first impression of your story idea is that it sounds freaking awesome.
If you’re interested in the nature of tragedy, or human fallibility, or (the lack of) divine justice, then I just don’t think you can go wrong with a quasi-Shakespearean mashup. Even if your readers/viewers aren’t intimately familiar with every single one of those figures from the tragedies, they will still sense the use of classical ingredients, which in turn might help them get a foothold in the genre and aesthetic of your piece. Plus, Shakespeare is public domain and his tragic heroes are iconic for a reason. Why not genderbend them and then toss them into a gumbo pot? Whatever helps you get at the heart of your story! (And then you get to play around with sliding in allusions & Easter eggs from those plays, so that your readers/viewers can engage more deeply with the literary parallels you’re creating.)
You can also take comfort in the fact that you are definitely not alone in making Shakespeare Smoothies — this past fall, I saw an amazing production in London called othellomacbeth that juxtaposed and then intersected the female narratives of Desdemona, Emilia, Lady Macbeth, and Lady Macduff in a single narrative, while also using various themes from Othello and Macbeth as a springboard for sustained, violent dance sequences. The performance was visceral, harrowing, and absolutely epic. It made me think about both tragedies in an entirely new way, especially with regard to sexual politics. I left the theater feeling like I wanted to watch an HBO series entirely about those four women, because they clearly still have so much to tell us.
So, when is it appropriate to take inspiration from the Bard?
Whenever you goddam feel like it.
