And better post them all together to mark the end of this weird little project. Idk why I challenged myself to redesign all 6 main Naruto girls in 1 week, but I did it. Maybe because I wanted to test how I could exaggerate them, to explore a wider range of body types. And also for fashion. Can’t forget fashion.

I’m toying with the idea of drawing them as genin, to show how much a person can change in so little time, and the idea of drawing them as icky and awkward 12 year olds is fun to me. Even though, let’s be real, Temari was already a style icon at 13. I’m unsure for now.

You may say I'm biased, but Sasuke tried to kill Sakura twice and called her annoying since they were kids. Ino grew up with Sakura and defended her from bullies, and keeps a healthy relationship with Sakura "B-but the chuunin exams! B-but they argue!" Yeah, but they talked it out after the chuunin exams, and other arguments were just harmless rivalries. Literally any ship with Sasuke is toxic.. Even the canon one.

Ino Yamanaka is the person who knows Sakura Haruno the most and to this day I think that if anything were to happen to Sakura, Ino should be the one who points it out immediately, not any other member of Team 7.

Ino was the person who knew Sakura the best before and during the Academy years. Sure, she changed during the genin years with Team 7, but Ino was able to get to know her again during the Chunning Exams. Ino was right there for the big Sakura moment when she cut her hair. And when Naruto and Sasuke left, Ino stayed with Sakura. Through her training years with Tsunade, Ino was there to see Sakura bloom time and time again.

So to me it's a disservice to Ino and Sakura that we didn't get more moments between them in Shippuden. Moments where Sakura felt lost and ran to Ino, moments that make it evident that the one person who has been always there for Sakura is Ino, not Naruto, not even Tsunade, but Ino.

Their rivalry and their friendship deserved better.

I just want to say I love the way you write and give attention to Ino in your works. That character really deserved better. She was supposed to be Sakura's best friend/rival, in some way the same what Sasuke was to Naruto. But Kishi completely sidelined her after first few initial arcs. Sure, it's not like he did better job with other females but still, Ino's case especially bothers me as she was supposed to be important and motivating figure in Sakura's life (again, like Sasuke was for young Naruto).

Ino Yamanaka is badass and deserved freaking better than this!

Yeahhhhh, Ino really did get done dirty in that regard.

But thank you! I'm also a big fan of Ino and I think she makes a great foil for Sakura.

Personally I think canon would have turned out different if Ino had remained prominent in Sakura's life in the text.

I think Ino would have taken one look at her feelings for Naruto and gone to town on making her talk about it. Cos she's 100% that kind of friend lol.

She'd also be the kind of friend to insist you get over your toxic ex or the crush on a guy that's going nowhere ...

Just saying lol.

But yes, all the love to Ino, may she reign as one of my regular characters, and mouthpiece character ... she's too fun not to use!

i will NEVER forgive kishimoto or whoever the fuck worked on Boruto for turning Hinata into a HOUSE WIFE in that show. I know i said i love traditional femininity in a female character in one of my last posts, but i also said that i only love it when it’s in a natural and believable context that flows naturally! her being a housewife would have been TOTALLY fine.....

She was actually quite difficult to design for, mainly because so many things I tried didn’t FEEL like Ino. And there’s this fine line between looking like Ino, and looking like Lola Bunny.

I think the rule of thumb is: Exposed stomach and purple

I’m not really rewriting Naruto or anything, just coming up with new backstories and storylines for the girls. Say what you like about Naruto, good and bad, but I think we can all agree the girls were done dirty. The series was fundamentally uninterested in them as people, just as endlessly loyal and supportive love interests. They deserve better than that.

Yes that's right. But before going further, I actually can't help but asking, does he honestly and genuinely know the right characteristics from the wrong ones? Especially when it comes to female characters?

Because honestly, if he's so bad at writing females and that he intentionally sets Sakura as one of 3 MCs...then why on Earth does he make her so much worse than Ino, and not even giving the audiences any good qualities about Sakura?

1. He made Sakura the one who cut friendship with Ino, over a guy. Like, I'm sorry, as audience am I supposed to see her as antagonist? But hey, protagonist with flaws...okay trying to be openminded here.

2. He made Ino the one who chased Sakura to mend the friendship, not Sakura, the one who cut it in the first place years ago. And here I thought it's Sakura who will do the whole "apology and learns from her mistakes" thing to redeem her character. Turns out nope, nada.

3. He made Sakura being unapologetic about what she did to Ino.

4. Still in the topic of Friendship with Ino, we are shown that Sarada acted rude to Ino when Ino (in her genuinely good-natured way as well as being thankfully ignorant to this PoS she called as bestfriend) just waved to Sasuke and Sakura. And Sakura is shown to awakwardly chuckle at it.

Forget the whole non sense pairing that SasuSaku is, this little fact alone makes her a shitty friend and honestly makes me wonder : is Kishimoto intentionally making Sakura, his 1 out of 3 MCs, canonically being this sad pathetic excuse of character who treats her bestfriend like shit? If so, then why on earth does he expect from us audience to like her?

And why does he make Ino the one having all these qualities and characteristics that usually & commonly owned by stereotypical, generic heroine in anime history?
