Something HYSTERICALLY funny to me about the literal opening lines of the album being Joe’s silence and calm and Taylor both resting in it but also about to midnight chatter/complain/vent/reminisce/sob for the next 44 minutes
#you can feel him as a place of rest for Taylor#all that not marrying nonsense. like again. Taylor can say what she needs to say as she wrestled with old wounds and crushing expectations#etc.#YOU need to marry her. period. full stop.#it will not be enough for her until/if you do#(I hope you have already and we don’t know but yeah.)#like. it’s literally your job Joseph#okay I’m going to stop talking about this specific aspect of it but yeah.#Taylor’s wounds. the weight of things. her fragile bitter heart#like. you as a calm and reserved British actor with self-possession etc. have literally one job#and it is NOT your acting job#anyway overall I love his presence on the album. somehow more revealing than ever#not his personality in itself but flashes of it I guess. and mostly what he means for Taylor#this anchor of stability that has unlocked (honestly) her potential to be her most insane self#in the BEST way#she doesn’t have to hold back#the OLDER Taylor gets the more I am astonished to find how much agonizing restraint there was in those early albums#of course not all of her vocabulary and darkness and wounds (or loves) were as developed now#but there is this sense that she was keeping herself in such check#in order to be likeable#the fascinating power was still there but the range of her sheer personaltiy#the bitterness the rancor the need for peace even the softness#their deep twisted complicated roots were mostly hidden and disguised#and time reveals them#(though also the funny thing about a taylor album is that it wears sweeter with time)#until I can almost hear no bitterness#but at first that’s ALL I hear

"anakin would've never turned to the dark side had qui gon lived." utter. bullshit. not only is this particular hot take an insult to obi-wan it completely robs anakin of his agency, because at the end of the day it was anakin's decision to pledge his loyalty to palpatine and to destroy everything that the people he loved held dear. that's what makes anakin skywalker such a compelling character, and as darth vader a tragic and iconic villian... because he did this to himself.

Like, for all Cere saying “While you’re alive, you always have a choice” Cal doesn’t really seem to have much motivation to do all this beyond *shrug* *indistinct noise*. It’s not like the game gives him an option to go be a farmer, or something, and his goals seem pretty vague. Like, he’s going to gather potential Jedi, then ? restart the Order ?, then ??, and ???, ?????, then DEFEAT THE EMPIRE!
I know the story takes some twists and turns, found family, the journey you wanted was inside you all along, yada yada, but I wish he had something he was striving for beyond “I don’t know, didn’t have anything better to do, I guess”. Give him a separate mystery to solve, or a memory he wants to unlock, or something.

hi. i saw your post about north haters. i actually hate her because simarkus was supposed to be canon but they decided to use north instead
yeah i strongly disagree with hating her Period but i can't stop you from having an opinion i guess .. it's just the whole "dastardly woman getting in the way of my ship" mumbo jumbo that makes me scratch my head and sigh a little. love simarkus as much as the next guy but i also feel like north doesn't need to be thrown under the bus for people to acknowledge that her relationship with markus was forced and had mediocre writing. i would probably even Like them together if their relationship wasn't built around north's trauma and vulnerability in a way that comes off as weirdly misogynistic on david cage's part but alas! mr. cage is a notorious asshole who cannot sacrifice his bigotry for the sake of half-decent writing!! i feel like the only character that truly suffers from that relationship is north herself Because she has a character outside of it that kind of gets tossed out because her relationship with a man is deemed as somehow more important than her personality. but yeah i feel like going as far as to outright hate north for no reason other than the fact that her character was used as a love interest and simon's wasn't still isn't agreeable to me but i'm not going to shame you for it

Double Doctors! William Hartnell has a terrible time as wounded robber Jeff Richards, while Patrick Troughton is the unnamed (and uncredited!) tramp who finds Jeff's hiding place in Dial 999: 50,000 Hands (1.16, ABC, 1959)
#fave spotting#dial 999#classic doctor who#william hartnell#patrick troughton#doctor who#classic tv#itc#1959#or possibly '58; as I've said on the other Dial 999 posts‚ establishing a definitive transmission order is nearly impossible with tv from#this era. most sources agree this was the 16th episode shown‚ but a date isn't given anywhere but imdb‚ which provides only 1959 but has#dates scattered all over the place for other episodes in the show's run.#something of a fave spotting find‚ this! doctors one and two together in one episode of old tv‚ years before DW even existed#sadly the two‚ although technically in scenes together‚ never share the screen; in fact they never did‚ with Hartnell too ill to appear in#studio for DW tenth anniversary special The Three Doctors. he's in very fine form here tho‚ completely different to his other Dial 999#appearance (1.1‚ where he was a dangerous gangland leader). here he's a slightly sorry crook who's accidentally shot himself in the guts#he spends most of the episode wracked with pain and i must say Bill's very convincing and quite sympathetic. of note‚ his decidedly less#likeable partner in crime is played by Bill Fraser‚ Hartnell's costar in The Army Game (the first series of which had recently finished#when Dial 999 began airing). presumably a conscious choice on the producer's part?#Pat meanwhile has only a brief appearance here‚ playing a character imdb inexplicably identity as 'Benny'; I'm almost completely certain#that name never appeared in the episode‚ as he's mostly referred to simply as 'a tramp'‚ and it certainly doesn't appear in the credits as#Pat isn't credited (not unusual in early ITC shows which tended to credit only five or six key performers in an episode)#he gets a little comic business to do as he tries to evade Bob Beatty's tireless cop‚ and delivers his few lines in a rural accent of#indeterminate origin. apologies that i can't provide better pictures but network's dvd release‚ while welcome‚ doesn't appear to have had#much in the way of restoration (and who knows in what condition these eps survive; if the original films are still held then they'd be#potentially able to get a full shiny hd resto‚ but it could always be that the archived eps are overseas tapes or other inferior copies#i just don't know tbh! there simply isn't a huge amount of info out there about this 65 year old obscure cop show! for shame everyone! /jk)

“crazy fat people want bigger hallways!”
no jessica, disabled people want more accessible spaces, and you’re consuming content entirely comprised of cherry picking clips of the most out-there/unlikeable/not conventionally attractive people to push a narrative. disabled people deserve accessibility as a basic human right, and so do fat people and people who aren’t conventionally attractive, believe it or not!!! (:

since i don't know the original at all take this w a grain of salt, but i honestly like that niragi got a second chance. i feel like the characters in the borderland were some sort of idealisations of their true selves, with either hightened or lowered morale or whatever you wanna call it
so what i want to believe is that niragi literally demonised himself so much that in the borderland he became this self obsessed monster whose entire identity circled around being evil - in some scenes it even seems like he needs to force himself to do something evil bc everything else would go against his self image
and that is not exactly the niragi we see a glimpse of later at the hospital. yeah he's still speaking in a self deprecating way but it's a very different tone. and i have high hopes that he will not become his borderland self in the real world, because now he has Chishiya.

Me getting the job:
Tumblr media
Me immediately being hit with imposter syndrome:
Tumblr media
#do you ever just. realise that you’ve definitely bitten off more than you can chew#because that’s about where i’m at right now#basically i just got hired for an esol job and i haven’t taught esol in nearly three years and when i did teach it i only taught it#for a month; and i wasn’t the best at it. don’t get me wrong i wasn’t the worst. i definitely wasn’t the worst. there was a guy#who just gave his students worksheets and said ‘do them’ and also never opened his teaching practice journal the whole time#but like. i still wasn’t that great. both of my grammar presentations were borderline and i basically think i coasted through#by being likeable and getting a good score on my exam#and also the fact that i never had to teach the elementary class really helped. i’m too verbose for anyone who isn’t at least B1 in english#and i am trying SO hard to change but when i panic i talk fast and i say too many big words#and my boss has dropped the bombshell that a lot of my students will be complete beginners which.. is completely normal and expected#but i am just SO worried#you’d think introductory english would be easiest to teach but actually it’s really hard. it’s SO hard to go right back to basics#and explain the simplest concepts. and i feel like a real berk acting things out#so basically i’ve come up with an action plan#step one is to panic which i am going to do until the books i’ve ordered arrive#that’s step two. read the esol & efl teacher manuals cover to cover. internalise and memorise them#step three is to watch esol lesson demos and probably act them out until i’ve got that slow; clear; loud voice i need#step four is to check the website for the awarding body and see what i’ll actually be teaching#step five is to go to staff induction. apparently my predecessor has left various resources and unless anyone stops me i’m taking them all#step six is to panic again. step seven is to meet my students and probably still know nothing. step eight is uhhhh cry most likely#step nine is i either get my shit together or i get fired. so uh. that’s fun#anyway if you need me i will be implementing step one. ✌🏻#personal

Be warned that will be stuff about Koyanskaya released in future for na that will guaranteed to cause you to have mixed opinions on her
I’ve seen some spoilers in regards to her but didn’t dive too deep—I know there’s 2 sides of her, I think? Hence I’m riding off the Hope, she’ll get better. I know she’s the mistaken manifestation of Daji by many and that she’s not actually a part of Tamamo.
It’s still a poor take in my opinion to use her for the readers to learn of the Crypters and their goals by giving her some ‘omnipotent like sight’ into them while keeping her mysterious, just so us the players can learn the Crypters/Lostbelts, rather than just sticking to the roll she had from LB1, and letting the players learn of each Crypter through the actual narrative. Unless this is some scheme for us to get to know her, but I hardly think we’ve learned (unless I’m not paying too much attention) anything of her except that she has some connection to emotions and/or fear that gives her insight into humans.

BOOK REVIEW 📖
This is the one for February – I was reminded of this book half way through the month and decided to reread it again because I couldn't remember how it ended; plus a short mystery is always nice to read (side note: this ended up as an ebook read bc I couldn't remember where in my storage boxes I have my copy – it's in storage because it's a paperback edition and old and I don't want it to die on me yet lol)
#ben picks up reading again#dania rambles about shit#hewehewhehehewhehw I've forgotten to upload these for the last two months LMAO#not to worry I am at least still reading :D#alrighty this is for the most part spoiler free (execpt where indicated)#it is a very entertaining mystery that feels like a game of cluedo and you really enjoy how everything comes together at different points#so much that it has you going back to see how the hell you missed a detail and going AHA#but yeah counts as a reread but it was so long ago and I'd forgotten practically everything about it that its like a new read#which is a bonus bc I like figuring out mysteries in books and going along with stuff to see if I'm right at the end#not to much analysis in this review like the last book as I feel it didn't need it#each character is pretty likeable with some unlikable moments sprinkled in#also I really love how the POV switches and flows easily between each of them which is what makes this book so easy to follow along with#insight on when i first read it#i was in fifth grade and we had a reading club sort of thing that our teacher picked us for#like a greatbooks fishbowl sort of thing instead of just our regular reading/comm arts time in class#i think it was the last one's we read for that year because I don't remember any after it#anyway we had to staple the last couple of chapters together so we wouldn't be able to know the ending nor the stuff leading up to it#that way we could play along and try to solve it ourselves#we had a betting pool sort of thing going with candy to see who could guess correctly#just a box full of sticky notes with whatever theories we wanted to include with the bet#and a whole wall with those large paper pad sheets that teacher's would have for their easels in order for us to connect the dots on things#yeah we went into it#kind of wondering if we ever got to the end or if something came up that we couldn't finish the book like i sort of remember#our tutor missing a couple of weeks and then state testing and then it was just the end of the year and we were turning in the books to her#anyway just more admin lore
