i absolutely fall to my knees just thinking about how the show literally singles out mike out of the party when it comes to will. like in season 1 they choose to make mike tell dustin that “you can have more than one best friend” and yet, time and time again, it’s just mike and will. oh we’re talking about will? let’s focus the camera on mike.

it’s mike who lashes out at el after seeing will’s “body”, it’s mike they show crying in his mother’s arms, it’s mike who stands up for will more than anyone else. it’s mike who is awake waiting for will to awake in the hospital, it’s mike who places an arm around will after he’s stuck between slides outside of the arcade, mike who was searching and is shown emotionally distressed at losing will for even just a second on halloween, the one who wants to take him home, who won’t let anyone else take him home. the one who finds him on the field, the one who is shown looking at will’s empty seat in class. the one who notices he’s quiet, standing in front of the other boys. the one who calls the byers and then goes to the byers and insists to see will. the one who stays by his side while he’s possessed, the one with a FULL scene of him talking to possessed will (a scene which no one else had). he was the one who noticed, always notices when will feels the mind flayer or is simply off. only him. he lingers longer than the other kids at the empty byers house, he is shown struggling with school & life at the start of s4, he notices when will is “moping” and rink o mania.

he is just so attentive and caring when it comes to will, and i think that scares him a little, as he gets older, as he continues his relationship with el.

long story short: if “you can have more than one best friend,” what does that make will? special. more than a best friend. case closed.

4-ply 100% cotton yarn (various), 1.1mm hook, 40x40 squares, 33.5cm (13.2") each side

Told my dad there's bats in our neighborhood because I can hear their very cute echo location going in the opposite direction of us talking

Turns out he didn't know so Ima share this just in case, people talking but especially loud people like my dad throw off their ability to hunt bugs in the same way a house party at 2am on 4/20 keeps my ass awake but not energetic enough to make food - yeah I could go to the party and get food but it might not be the best with all the strangers getting high that I don't know. It's a risk to hunt near humans because we have a history of freaking out or hurting them when they do roll up out of self defense when really they want those bugs trying to eat your ass. And if you're calm and chill like me, sometimes they just be smacking into you if you're sitting outside and they think you're a tree or stump.

In short, don't wear headphones on at night if you're sitting outside for many safety reasons but also because if those high pitched squeaks are getting closer, you should probably get out of the way or move for your own safety before a or multiple bats hit/land onto you with a meaty slap & confused squeaking

And if you're hearing different pitches- is a cloud of bats, duck to the right or left and make noise (I usually do tiny pop noises to not scare them since it's usually babies and younger bats who fuck up and fly too low) so they know you're there and can move

The "cool" part about having insane ideas about Clealiness beat into me since I was an infant is that no matter how deep or dark the pits of depression I'm stuck in, I always find it in me to get up to take a shower, change my clothes, etc. Even if I don't do anything else all day, even if I don't eat or sleep or talk to anyone, I have to wash up every day no matter what. And if for whatever reason I'm not able to, it's a very distressing and uncomfortable experience and all I'm able to focus on. Because being Dirty TM is worse than death, worse than any imaginable fate.

This was a fun read, an enjoyable journey through the alphabet of famous dogs.

#dog books #I've read a few famous dogs books #and they're usually quite dull #but this one was really interesting because the writer connected different stories and took philosophical strolls #I didn't agree with her on many many points #but I really enjoyed reading all the linking thoughts and ideas #I find it very interesting the way that writers like this will confess quite openly their special love for their dog #and they'll write about the details in which love for dogs has been historically ridiculed and minimised #and yet they still feel the need to be defensive and to project this sort of 'not like other girls' attitude #personally I lean wholeheartedly into the stereotype that I love my dogs 'too much' #it does not bother me at all to be in any way associated with the historical pastime of women who love tiny creatures #who treat them with kindness and care and humour #my current life phase is: this is who I am #I have embraced it completely #I have very little room for shame in my life
