I feel like these 2 quotes are literally the core of Kim's character. Like yeah he spills the whole thing here.
He's afraid of becoming a joke and he really likes not taking the first step when doing something fun. I'm actually speechless about how open he is about it, in these 2 moments.

The fact that Judaism is trending because of both the wave of bomb threats on synagogues and Bradley Cooper's Antisemitism Adventure (his huge fake prosthetic nose, and him basically stealing the story from a Jewish man) is so infuriating and so exhaustingly typical.
The fact that I see Judaism trending on Tumblr and immediately think "oh no. Something Bad is happening to us." We're never trending cause it's fucking good. I never get to be excited, it's just cold dread.
The fact that Antisemitism is getting worse everyday and the only ones who ever talk about it are other Jews. The fact that no one else fucking cares. The only ones who support us are other Jews. Even when gentiles talk about Nazis or white supremacists they don't want to help us. We're just their prop, the canary in the coal mine and the perfect victim.
The fact that everyone's uncomfortable with Jews still being here. Reminding them of things they'd rather forget.
The fact that it'd be easier for them if we were all dead. Then they could tell stories about our people, dressed in offensive caricatures, without us making a fuss.

it's actually so weird how people react with such vitriol to the slightest mention of minecraft youtubers like i used to be sympathetic about it because of the whole association with dream and so on but it's gotten to the point where if you've been made aware it's a rich and varied community and you still have that knee jerk reaction of "well they're lame, they're cringe, they're all ugly racist white boys" you are actually just a fucking idiot. i'm sorry. like if you cannot do that most basic level of separation like that there is something fundamentally unformed in your brain you should probably work on

I don't understand why more people don't comment on fics from a perfectly self serving perspective. Do readers not realise they are often the difference in how much fic they get from a writer they like in their fandom?
I don't know, maybe we are not supposed to say this as writers, given the prevaling write for yourself uwu culture these days, but I've had instances where I only meant to drop one fic for a small pairing and dip but that fic got such a warm reception -- and by that I don't mean hundreds of kudos, I mean a handful of people who took time out of their days to leave meaningful comments that went beyond 'I loved this!' -- that I ended up writing ten more. Conversely, I've written fics I was simply compelled to write but the reception was so lukewarm, I moved onto more fertile ground once the brain worms were satisfied, even though I had ten more ideas I could have explored for the same pairing. And I've seen so many other writers do the same.
I personally don't comment on every fic I read -- exhaustion gets in the way -- so it would be hypocritical for me to expect the same of anyone else, but man, it baffles me that other people don't strategise in their commenting, that when they see a writer they love they don't go extra hard on fics that don't have much interaction or for writers that are a bit more needy -- yet another thing one does utter in polite society -- not out of any sense of gratitude or anything like that but just to get more good fic, just from perfect selfishness.

I just had a meeting and i wanna vaguely post about it to get my thoughts more in order but like
the absolute lack of accountability or wherewithall for faculty in academia to even educate themselves on what they can and cannot do to help people in their own workplace, especially their students and fellow staff members, is fucking appaling.
they are the people that hold the power in the ivory tower, second only the the higher up admins and the board of trustees, if they aren’t also a part of that. like please, just give a shit about the person the you pass by in the hall who cleans the floors of your office. do you even know his name?
or how about
if we are to be people that support and serve the diverse needs of people in academia, we must educate ourselves at the bare fucking minimum. Point them to resources, hear them out, help them get a meeting with someone who can help them, and i mean like actually help them through the steps. Because there is so much red tape and bullshit rigamarole that people have to go through to just have a complaint formally heard in this world. Let alone actually have something done about a horrible action that is more than just a slap on the wrist
because really nothing ever really gets done but at least fucking hear a person out, see their humanity, give them some modicum of comfort in listening.

Okay, for aro awareness week, I need you all to start recognizing that:
NOT EVERYONE IN THE ARO COMMUNITY IS FROM THE UNITED STATES OR EUROPE.
Please, when we're having discussions about aphobia, allonormativity amatonormativity, and other issues for the love of god STOP PRETENDING THAT WE DON'T EXIST AND LISTEN TO US!
We aren't just your token aros that exist in the other side of the world just for you to prove that we are everywhere or whatever point you're trying to make, we are living, breathing human beings and members of the aro community and we deserve respect and to be remembered not as a point in your discourse but as equals.
I am sick and tired of people just assuming that everyone in the community is either from the United States or Europe and only centering those voices in the discussion. We exist too.

the fact that "terfs are the only people who say queer is a slur because they hate how inclusive it is" is still a popularly held belief on this site in 2023 really goes to show how terminally New-England-and-PNW-brained the userbase still is as a whole. you really can't think of any other reason an LGBT person would have a negative reaction to being called "queer"? and your response to someone telling you that your lived experiences are not universal is to double down and call that person a terf? either stop posting or contemplate suicide fr
