OMG HI yes i would love to explain my rationale for this i will never deny an opportunity to yap . technically this was a collaborative effort between me and my roommate so I cant take all the credit for the list

ok so:

osomatsu and yoosung: to be honest we mainly picked these 2 because i cant reasonably see any of the other mysme characters tolerating osomatsu LOL. the comedic potential of worlds biggest shit disturber and Worlds most gullible guy is unmatched also. theres a wild and obsessive side to yoosung too that i think would actually throw oso off under the right circumstances. tldr itd be funny

karamatsu and saeran: this one was interesting because originally i was team kara zen but they are too similar in style to come out of it unscathed. i think saeran deserves a loser boyfriend and who else could fit the bill. i also think karamatsu is one of the only brothers who is emotionally available enough to be able to have any sort of camaraderie with saeran without bringing him down - i think his willingness to just put himself out there would make saeran feel comfortable. plus i think they both have....eclectic taste

choromatsu and zen: classic nerd x prep dynamic. choromatsus interest in idols is similar enough to the nature of zens career so him growing to appreciate zens work is not too huge of a leap to me (if im being generous to this guy). i just think itd be so enemies to lovers like they would argue so hard

ichimatsu and seven: i think this was the first one we decided? beyond the love for cats I just think they could influence eachother in interesting ways - sevens energy might force ichimatsu out of his shell and ichimatsu can relate to seven's facade and could make him feel comfortable dropping it sometimes. i just think they have a lot in common

jyushimatsu and jaehee: no one else deserved jaehee. Also i just think that jaehee deserves some whimsy and joy in her life and who better than jyushimatsu to bring it . methinks its hard for jyushimatsu not to like someone but i think he would be endeared by how earnest jaehee is and would be full of glee when he gets her to loosen up a bit

todomatsu and jumin: can you just imagine them interacting. we picked this duo because the potential here was too great. Todomatsu is such a little ass kisser and would try to manipulate the hell out of jumin to get what he wants. something something they both end up learning how to Be Real idk how to explain it. just feel it

bonus osomatsu and V: i think V just needs to be put in a room with someone who would not be afraid to tell him he has problems

Lol okay so the thing about Gummy Worms is that I started writing a sequel in like October and it’s basically just Saeran introspecting about his time as an idol and remembering specific interactions that he had with Rika interspersed with a "present day" narrative where he and MC are preparing for a Halloween party that Yoosung is holding, but then Rika shows up at the party and she and Saeran kind of come to terms with the general weirdness of their creative relationship, but then a) I realized that it would be out of character for Yoosung to allow that to happen... like he would not invite Rika and Saeran to the same event... like I don't think he would cut Rika off completely but especially without any context for her actions (outside of what he got from Saeran's album), I don't think Yoosung would want Rika at his Halloween party with his friends whom she victimized like 2 months ago b) I really struggled to make the sequel and the original seem like two parts of the same cohesive set... I think part of this is that Gummy Worms is MC's linear narrative of events that take place over the course of a few month and Gummy Worms 2 [Working title] is Saeran's very non-linear narrative of events that take place over the course of several years. But also, Gummy Worms is generally a pretty fun story and what I've written of Part 2 is a lot angstier and heavier in general, since it's largely dealing with a professional relationship between two deeply troubled people c) While I was dealing with (a) and (b) and also Mystictober, Halloween came and went and every time I think "maybe I should think about reworking Gummy Worms 2" I open it up and see that hALLoWeEN is central to both the past and present narratives, which I feel like would be a pretty weird thing to post at any time other than October

But, all that being said, I feel bad to tease content about Gummy Worms Unknown and Rika without delivering, so my favorite scene from Gummy Worms 2 [working title] is under the cut.

He slept and ate when he was forced to, and filled the rest of his time up with live streams. Life was so easy, a metronome in the background of whatever dance number Rika insisted on playing when tugging at his puppet strings. Saeran didn't know much about himself; he didn't know what he could do outside of what he was already doing. He had no idea who he wanted to be, let alone who he was. All he knew was that he was creating and destroying for Mint Eye, earning them money with every breath he took. That was his job: to make content, not art.

And it was so easy. It must have been the third Halloween that he went to get the tattoo— it was not a sign of defeat. It was pure rage, rage transmuted to become ink as if through an alchemical formula, rage penetrating his skin and leaving its mark on him forever. He was branding his likeness as a product distributed by Mint Eye Entertainment. He had no choice but to live as Unknown, and Mint Eye owned Unknown— so Saeran had no choice but to be a tool, a hit-maker under the discretion of Mint Eye. Easy, easy. Saeran didn't even flinch when the logo was added to his person, didn't cry, didn't register the feeling of it. He was numb to pain already, too familiar with it to care much about the needle carving out a home for itself under his skin.

He went and found Rika afterwords— she was working late, as always, blond curls falling in her face as she bent over some impressive pile of very important paperwork. Her champagne-colored blouse had a coffee or tea-ish stain on the collar, and Saeran wondered if she wasn't really just the same as him— somebody who took advantage of the music charts to claw their way out of a bad situation. Of course she needed to exploit him, he thought, deflating as she greeted him with that familiar cool smile. How else would she stay ahead? How else would she survive? If their positions were reversed, could he really say that he'd be any better than she was?

But he was already in her office, wearing her label's logo on his skin. It was permanent, part of him forever, just like every sacrifice that either one of them ever made in the name of all this. "Rika," he breathed her name, and she looked up, eyes red. From crying? From lack of sleep? Or maybe it was just a trick of the light. Saeran still isn't sure to this day. "I hope you're happy." The words tumbled out, unfair and bitter and entirely justified.

"Oh?" She took some time to process his words, not looking half as horrified as he wanted her to be. "Thank you, Saeran." She didn't even notice the tattoo. The conversation did not comfort him, and he left her office feeling just as angry and guilty as he did when he came in.

Unknown: He thinks we're cute, and wants to help us as well as have us be useful to him. He sees us as his responsibility as well as the fact since he saw us first, he gets dibs. He sees us as his ally or tool, and he would like to have us as a companion, especially if we're like him and have a dark broken side. Of course we can't come in between him and his revenge.

Ray: You can say that Ray appreciates us as someone helpful and trusting, someone who won't betray him. He obsessed of the idea of us, but as he got to know us more he became more possessive over who we really were. We were a new friend for him, someone who would help him and listen to him and care for him. He wants to be a better man for us, but he he also wants to "protect" us from what he perceives as threats. When he doesn't do enough or thinks we hate him, he hates himself too.

Unknown (V route): I believe Unknown here regards us similarly to how Saeran regards us in the Ray route, as someone to "play" with. He could vent to us all he wishes, mess around with us, even hurt or scare us if he's frustrated. I think he wants a "companion," someone to sit in the room with him, maybe help him should he require it.

Saeran (Ray Route): He likes you, but he doesn't want to show it. He feels threatened by your interest in him, so he decides to approach you while also keeping himself away; he chooses to do this by abusing you. He wishes to prove again and again that your views are wrong about who he should be, that way you can't threaten him anymore.

Saeran: his final form considers you an angel, his form of paradise. He treasures you and is curious about you, he sees as you as the light that lit up his dark world. He sees you as an honest being, being true to yourself but also letting him realize the truths about himself. Saeran in his true form, loves us and idolizes us to an extreme level. Borderline personality disorder is coming into view here. He's placing us up on this pedestal, however unlike the disorder, he's not going to hate us at a moment's notice. He's choosing not to pursue that path.

Also, what I like to think:

He's been through A LOT in his life, so his sexuality was the least of his concerns and he never really stopped to think about it. Only after he was free, maybe he had a conversation with mc about this topic and started to wonder about his identity.

And now in relation to my cmc/storyline - when Jinae told him she's bi and explained her experience, Saeran paused to think for a bit, and then said "hm... you know what? I might feel the same way.

Jinae for a long time didn't think she could be anything but straight. She had crushes on boys, and had been in a relationship with one, so it didn't even cross her mind then. She did admire other women for their beauty, and in later teens, had girl friends she felt v e r y close to - looking back it was obvious that those were crushes - but she denied every thought that would imply those feelings weren't just platonic (because thinking about kissing your besties is not gay at all, am I right?). Or pushed them away to worry about later. She needed to focus on her dreams of becoming an idol, and her contract didn't allow dating anyway.

Her whole plan of pushing all suspicions away was ruined by one woman she met at 18. She completely swept Jinae off her feet, her voice and touch making her feel dizzy, her smell intoxicating - there was no point in denying any longer, and after many hours of Google searching and analyzing her whole life she realized - accepted - that she's bi.

Sometimes she wondered if all her male crushes were fake and she's actually a lesbian - but this theory was thrown out of the window by a smooth, alluring voice in her phone, introducing himself as a game developer.

She didn't fall for Ray right away. Yes, she thought he's attractive - the most beautiful man she's ever seen, even with those dark eye circles and his magenta coat, a little too big for his a little too thin frame - but Jinae is cautious with her feelings, and doesn't open her heart to just anyone.

Ray was... a fascinating individual for her. Who really was this guy, and why was he so obsessed with her? She'd lie if she said she didn't like the attention she received.

Very soon her mind was occupied with him and only him. Did he eat? Did he sleep? Or had been working all night again? I miss him. I want to hear his voice. I want to see him. Jinae wasn't sure if that's the beginning of love, or if she's just getting obsessed with him as much, or even more than he's with her. But she was certain of one thing - she wants to stay with him, no matter what's going to happen.

MysMe and their Best ShinyMas girls

Niche crossover made for me myself and I (in hopes of maybe convincing more people to get into Idolmaster Shiny Colors)

Yoosung would produce Chiyoko! Chiyoko is a cheerful, kind girl who does not think she's particularly interesting. She's insecure about being too "normal", and I think Yoosung would relate to that as he expresses such concerns about being the only "plain" member of the RFA. Chiyoko brands herself as the "chocolate idol" (because her name sounds like Choco), and she's a good cook to match her brand! She's also quite observant of her friends and is reliable! I think Yoosung would want to support someone like her and help her shine!

Zen is either going to produce Mikoto out of kinship or out of spite. Mikoto loves idols with her whole heart and cannot imagine a life where she is not an idol. She started training as a teenager, and she has more memories of idol lessons than of high school. She had a rocky start but found a second chance at 283 Productions. Zen would see himself in this workaholic, and whether he'd love or hate to see that... well, his narcissism is all a facade, so Mikoto may force him to face the qualities of himself that he's insecure about.

Jaehee knows that her oshi in real life is Zen, but for a game? She'd be a fan of Sakuya. Aside from her princely appearance and behavior that makes girls swoon (in the game and among players), Sakuya is a hard-working, cool, independent girl who wants to make others smile. She's not always good at relying on others, and I think Jaehee would acknowledge and relate to that. Sakuya is the common sense among the quirky L'antica idols, but she will play along in their antics! Maybe like... a silly taco song...?

707 is usually the type to prefer quirky or cat-themed idols, but once he spots twins with red hair and gold eyes? Oh, he's done for. He's an OsakiP, but he's especially fond of Tenka. He loves how she tries her best and pushes to be stronger even with her severe depression, and he also adores Amana for being supportive and always eager to help. He can't help but think of Saeran, even though Tenka is the older twin; helping her bloom makes Saeyoung feel like his choices can help Saeran thrive one day, too. He only produces the twins together! When it's Tenka, then Amana is in the first support spot. They do Fes together and jobs together. He will NOT separate them!

Jumin is definitely a NatsuhaP! He has major respect for her, because even though she comes from a wealthy family, she wants her accomplishments to be in HER name from HER effort! She works hard to live up to her name. Jumin takes that to heart. He can't help but think HCG is a tad similar to the RFA, too.

V finds himself producing Madoka. He isn't sure how it happened, but he actually knows exactly how it happened and doesn't want to admit so. Madoka is blunt and straightforward, and she is fiercely loyal to her friends, going to great lengths to ensure they are safe and comfortable. He can't help but be reminded of a certain someone. However, Madoka is also... quite harsh with her Producer, going so far as to curse him and say she hates him. V... well, V's self-hatred speaks for itself.

Ray is undoubtedly going to produce Mano. How can he not? She's sweet as sugar and gentle as can be. She's content making friends with birds and soaking up sun in a park. Her self-confidence isn't great, but Ray would be eager to show her how much he cares about her, far more than anyone else can. He'd want to protect her shy, genuine innocence... by any means necessary.

Suit Saeran would only support the idols he thinks are strong enough to flourish. But when he finds himself irritated with Mamimi's personality, his stubbornness ends up with him producing her. Mamimi is the type who acts out or is deliberately lazy to get attention, always trying to be a "bad girl" because she was a spoiled kid who was never reprimanded by her parents. That's the opposite of Saeran's life experiences, so he can't stand her. But the way she keeps pushing to tease and torment him... It's hard to tell who is the cat and who is the mouse. "I hate her," he says as he produces all of her cards so he can unlock more dialogue to see if she eventually breaks down.

GE Saeran would support hardworking idols going earnestly for their dreams! He's going to develop a soft spot for Kogane, who failed countless auditions but kept going towards the next ones. She's not the brightest bulb, but she is determined and strong-willed! Her belief that she can succeed is what keeps driving her until she does! She's clumsy and ditsy, but Saeran would find her honest, positive demeanor endearing. He may struggle to understand her thick Nagasaki country accent at first, though!

Unknown doesn't waste his time on games. But if his Savior told him to try it... He would pick an idol the same way he would pick someone to send to the apartment. Which means he's picking Koito, because she's a hard worker and studious. She could make a good assistant... if she didn't squeak and hide all the time like a mouse seeing a hawk. Koito is bright but her meekness holds her back, and she's been compared to a "pet" for Noctchill. He'd probably enjoy watching her panic in some of her commus... Unknown, be gentle please....

SE Saeran is a HioriP. He pretty much only plays for Hiori. He started begrudgingly at the behest of his nagging twin, but then he got attached to one (1) character. Hiori is diligent and serious, and Saeran doesn't suffer fools. She's also quite blunt and speaks her mind plainly. She can be a bit harsh when she speaks, not because she's mean, but because she's not good at communicating her thoughts and feelings. Sometimes this backfires Her stoic, icy appearance is misleading; she's kind and pure-hearted.

Vanderwood thinks the game is a waste of time... initially. But Vandy has a track record of going soft for precocious brats, so when they find Nichika? He's in trouble. Nichika is passionate, feisty, and dedicated. She can be quite stubborn and cheeky, which both amuses and frustrates Vandy when he plays. She isn't naturally skilled, but she works hard and he'd admire her work ethic. Nichika also has this tendency to get others to spoil her with her little sister energy, and Vanderwood is not immune. They'd ultimately go soft for her when they find how insecure she actually is.

Rika produces (and kins) Fuyuko. At first she was intrigued by Fuyuko's cute design, but as Rika dove deeper into her character, she was hooked. Fuyuko introduces herself as a cutesy, bubbly, attentive girl, and she asks her producer to call her "Fuyu." But she only behaves in this manner because she thinks that's the only way to get people to like her. The Fuyuko beneath "Fuyu-chan's" mask is stressed, snappy, and serious. She doesn't show her true self because she thinks she's not cute or nice enough to be an idol, despite how much she loves idols. Her greatest fear is being rejected and scorned by others. It's no surprise that Rika is drawn to her and wants to support her & her dreams, as kindred spirits! (Two pics to emphasize her two sides. Fuyuko's cards tend to be "kawaii" initially but then bolder and darker in Fes form.)

I need to hear Ray sing more, he’s so precious. I know Cheritz would never do this but I want an idol Ray album so bad. Especially with the edgy concept he has going on

If I had a nickel for every time Ray or Saeran was drawn as an idol, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, it's just crazy that it has happened twice.

But, Ray's rendition of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star is my phone's ringtone and has been so for years so I can say I'm guilty of the same thought, Anon. I yearn for Ray singing his heart out. I want to hear Ray sing more, and I'd take him singing an ingredient list while he's baking at this point, but I'd like to see him sing because he wants to, not because he's been forced to do it by Rika (or the Bad Ending MC).

Rika Kim and bpd-coded characters

I've been looking for a post like this for a long while and not once have i seen one, so i decided to make it myself.

Rika Kim is a BPD coded character with a representation on how the disorder can affect someone when gone untreated.

This also contains spoilers for the game Mystic Messenger, so be careful

Lets start with upbringing. Quoting this wiki page, "she was abandoned and was repeatedly abused, tortured, and treated like a demon by her fervently religious adoptive parents". Obviously, not all abuse victims develop BPD however it is an important possible cause for said disorder.

Time to analyze the symptoms and see how they pertain to Rika.

Intense fear of abandonment:

This one isn't displayed the best in-game, but can be mostly seen with how she interacted with V during their relationship. This may have been directly caused by growing up in the adoption system and the ideas Mika instilled in her. This quote from the wiki also tops it off, recalling a confrontation from V. " Rika gives in to his warmth. Tells him that she's tired because she's scared that she might be abandoned"

Pattern of unstable intense relationships:

Look no further than her relationship with V. She idolized him at first, intensely. They were both heavily dependent on one another, culminating in her splitting and deciding him to be the opposite of what she wants, ending in him being blinded by her.

Rapid changes in self-identity:

Not one particularly prominent, but i associate this symptom with her attachment to the name "savior", as well as her various names differing from her given name. Theres also a part in Saerans route where she claims to be his mother, further aiding to her self-identity confusion.

Periods of stress-related paranoia:

Easy peasy. She canonically suffers from both paranoia and psychosis, having been momentarily coerced into therapy by V for the two.

Impulsive and risky behavior:

This ones a bit harder to identify, but arguably faking your death to start a cult is rather impulsive and risky.

Suicidal threats or behavior or self-injury:

Faking her suicide arguably counts as a threat, but she was heavily implied to have self-harm tendencies in game. Arguably, her self destructive nature is another form of self harm.

Wide mood swings:

Especially visible in Saerans route, she often goes from overly self confident and collected to a sobbing, emotional mess. Another example is when she and V first started to get to know each other, switching from confident to dark and gloomy

Ongoing feelings of emptiness:

Rika's calm, orderly way of running things in the Mint Eye is a possible facade for feelings of emptiness.

Inappropriate, intense anger:

Rika is an explosive girl, both shown with her reaction towards V which left him blind, and her reaction to perceived "betrayal" from Saeran. She is quick to get violent and aggressive, even towards the MC.

Now, all this isn't to excuse her behavior in-game, rather an explanation to make players aware of why shes the way that she is. Nor am i attempting to demonize BPD, as i myself suffer from said disorder. This was just a silly little character analysis and i hope you enjoyed as much as i did writing this

So for the Pokemon AU, I’m stuck. I have multiple ideas for the twins’ teams, but no clue which to go with

So, options for Saeyoung:

Option 1: The Choi twins have a Plusle and Minun. Both have a Rotom. Being the memelord he is, Saeyoung would totally have a Mudkip- he probably came up with the “So I herd u liek Mudkips” meme lol

Porygon-Z he likely obtained after becoming a Secret Agent, the weird dude befriending the serious hacker. Joltik is again, meme- he would totally see the Subway Masters as idols, and we all know about Emmett and his adventures in breeding Joltiks. Seven is not allowed to breed Joltiks for this very reason.

This leaves Zorua. Now, I feel like Saeyoung and Saeran would have a Zorua each, just different variants. (No, its not because I love them). Saeyoung gets the original Zorua. Now, besides helping him with missions and disguises, Zorua is a Pokemon that is rather mischievous, fitting him as Seven. However, Zoroarks are said to be fiercely protective of their trainers and family, and are said to hold grudges. Should they die after being abandoned or filled with grief and malice after losing their young, they can become the vengeful Hisuian version. Sound familiar?

Option 2: A similar team layout, except that Saeyoung has another electric type- Voltorb. I chose the Hisuian version as it’s a much cheerful, excited Pokemon compared to its grumpier Kanto version. It is also a Pokemon that was often abused in the past, very similar to Saeyoung.

Deoxys is a good fit for Saeyoung in part due to this explanation by @rfaromance . Not only is it literally from space- its a legit alien!- but it is able to change forms depending on the situation, having multiple forms similar to Seven.

I’m also stuck on Saeran’s teams but its late and I’ll deal with those tomorrow lol

an interruption, causing his theatrics to screech to a halt, the invisible microphone is lowered, and saeyoung's expressions shifts to surprised, a blink, blink, blink! then, a soft laugh, his tone is a bit quieter now, gentler, " ...i believe i can do that, yes. c'mere, brother dearest. " ✉️‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎️

saeyoung quickly snuggles up to saeran, pressing their freckled cheeks toge -ther, swaying lightly as they hug. voice sing-song, " you-and-me-for-ever~! " ✉️‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎️

Mystic Messenger, I played it like 5 or 6 years ago. Last month I decided to play it once again, it actually cemented what I thought about the love interests in that game that many years ago. The only love interest that not actual love interest (wtf cheritz), that actually sane and normal probably Jaehee Kang, she's workaholic assistant that secretly just a normal woman. Then there's Saeyoung (Luciel, 707), silly hacker who's actually really deep person....except for his sad & traumatic past, would've make a great love interest. Then we got Yoosung 🙄 a guy that so depressed about his cousin death, he changed from model student to game addicted and whatever student. Now we go to Zen, narcissistic actor....idol, artist or whatever he is. Who really can't read room just blabbering about himself 😓. Then there's Jumin Han, an emotional stunted CEO who was secretly in love with his best-friend dead fiance that obsessed with a cat, the guy that goes from 0 to 100 in a blink, from a guy that that had emotional range of a cardboard to obsessive guy. After that we got Saeran (unknown), a guy that abused as a child then got brainwashed by a cult leader....those were the least messed up shiz about him. Last there's V or Kim Jihyun, the leader of RFA, the nice guy....so nice that he let MC live in his dead fiance's apartment that he knew connected to a bomb. He so fudgin' nice, he let an abused child joined secret organization. Truly nice guy that stay silent when his dead (but actually not so dead) fiance brainwashed another abused child.

What the fudge was I thinking when I played this game 🤦🤦😱
