I have thoughts about q!Bad taking the soul vulture outside earlier because that really surprised me

He was sitting, depressed on the church roof talking about missing his kids in full view with it leashed by his side. Just numbly monologuing and barely acknowledging it was there as it continually kept on attacking him. He made no moves to stop what was happening, then just put it back in the box.

First of all. why????????

Like I can see no world where this was a rational decision???? Dapper kept these creatures under extremely tight security underground for a reason, because if the Federation/Code found out what they were capable of it could spell the end for everyone. In their journal, Dapper wrote about a time when one did accidentally escape outside, and she panicked and ran all over the server trying to contain it… now we have Sadboyhalo here choosing to take one out in public, attached to himself. Any islander could’ve walked by at any moment and saw him, put two and two together that this is the thing that’s been hurting him, the Federation could’ve seen it. this might literally be something that Dapper may consider a leak/betrayal too?

Maybe, q!Bad took it out to feel closer to his son on their birthday in some kind of twisted way, because it was the last thing they shared together? But then he easily could’ve gone to the actual secret soul vulture lab, right next to the sign she left and not take it outside??????? was it simply more self destructive behavior in a particularly bad moment? then why have it so risky in the open? idk guys it doesn’t make sense….maybe it’s not supposed to.

We’ve had the thought that he’s been using the soul vultures to continue Dapper’s research on the soul hearts / soul potions. Yeah I do think that he might be, but do I think that’s all? No. It has gone way too far for it to be just that anymore. I’ve been wondering this for a long time but today kinda proves it for me, I’m 100% sure that the soul vultures are playing as a symbolism for q!Bad’s mental state at the same time as causing a physical plot effect on the character. it’s the self-destructive behavior, the drastic actions he is willing to take, his pov of being expendable

At first, they reflected his torn up grieving mind and he’d go down to the cage on purpose to hurt himself. The damage started to leave lasting impact on his body with the blue corruption that’s gotten worse and worse, along with his mental health. Then he released a vulture in the cage to torture Ron, showing how far he was willing to go in crossing the line. Now, post-psychotic breakdown he brings the vulture out in public, which directly precedes what? him suddenly opening his house to the public for everyone on the server to come celebrate Dapper’s birthday party, where they got front row seats to the delusions he’d only been doing in private. it was so weird from him because this man never invites people to his house like that.

What is he intending by doing all of this? is he intending anything? how much is all part of his big plans, and how much is driven by emotion or a lack of lucid decision-making? maybe this new behavior is because he thinks his delusions can no longer be contained in “safe places” like his home anymore (because are they even safe?) and so he’s not caring to show it. or maybe he wants people to pay more attention as a cry for help?

I really have no idea but everything is soooo obviously getting worse with him. and his friends might be seeing more of this from here on out

5/27 candy round-up : fan-meet clues, denying drama rumors and everything else. 💋

happy saturday! it’s time for some treats care of mostly wyb @ chunzhen fan meet. it has really been some time since he did one of these. hopefully, he does more before he gets stuck in filming his new movie. we will be getting a new endorsement from him tomo so that’s one to look forward to!

• The most obvious and probably in your face with today’s event is WYB’s look. Aside from the 🦴 necklace chain peeking from time to time and how his hair brings us back to 2019 WYB. The clothes remind us of that striped top he wore in the l’oreal event where he drew the heart with a mole. It’s also maison kitsune, a brand that ZZ wore in a live event recently too. The glasses for his photoshoot also brings us back to WB night 2020. These things could all mean nothing but to us, it brings back memories. The glasses are particularly sus, cause while i do think it may have something to do with his HK glasses endorsement, i don’t see it on their site as a style he is endorsing currently. It surprised a lot ( if not all ) of the fans cause why is he suddenly 🤓??

2. The Camping CPN is at it again. I don’t usually follow other artists so idk if other mention this too specifically but it’s so interesting how these two decided to pick it up at the same time. Or is this some sort of trend in China too? Either way, during the fan meet he said that he does Camp during his breaks. Plus he mentioned that he did go camping somewhere close to the beach.

He also said something that confused people, when they were talking about “moving camping” and wyb explained it’s like moving your house to the camp because of how one brings a lot of things. the he says: “it means he likes to moves many things...a lot of things...then..” so who is he? why so specific as he? Do you camp with someone who brings a lot of things it’s as good as bringing his house along? I don’t wanna judge XZ lol. cause when we see him, he prefers small bags so you would think he’s okay with not carrying too much. but i also have the feeling that ZZ would bring a lot just to be “ready” when they go camping.

3. When choosing the number for the lucky fans, he picked zone A row 2 number 30 and then when he was asked to change it cause there is no #30, he picked row 3 number 20. 2 & 3. His favorite numbers. This is not new, even @ summer surf shop this was noticed. It’s nice to see that it didn’t change. 23 ( Ai Zhan / Love Zhan )

4. As for some food CPN, WYB said again that he can’t cook and that he can only prepare simple dishes. One day, we will know what these are. I’m thinking he’s being humble about it and if he says he “can cook” people may expect more complicated dishes.

When “spiced beef ( or sauced beef ) was mentioned, he smiled. here is the reference to that if you don’t get it.

In one segment of the show, he was mixing fruits with the yogurt drink and he was asked why he chose lychee. He said it’s because he likes it and likes to freeze it to eat. This reminded cpfs of an LRLG post that said WYB peeled lychees for XZ. It’s so specific of a fruit and then it gets “confirmed” like this!

Xiao laoshi thinks the lychees are too high in calories and doesn’t eat them, but Wang laoshi has already peeled them.

WYB: "Didn't you say you wanted to eat it a few days ago?" Brother X specially went to buy it for you."

🧔‍♂️: “The owner of the stall said that this batch is sweet, try it."

XZ: “Then I'll take it later”

WYB: “Eat later”

• WYB shared about what does when camping and he said what he does is drink coffee. “yes, space out, finish the coffee, and then make another cup, then drink again.”

someone please get him a coffee endorsement! hahahahaha! and the commercial for it will be a scene like this. i really feel for him cause with the statement today from yuehua, this is really a way for him to relax. to camp somewhere quiet and just chill. where no one is following & harassing him.

anyway, it’s cool to see him loving coffee now when in the past he wasn’t seen much drinking it. but at the time of cql filming, xz was the one who loved coffee. is this another way of them adapting each other’s likes?

• While talking about Qingdao ( where the fan meet is taking place ) he was asked if he went there before.. and he stopped and replied, they know better than me. and like he doesn’t even know sometimes what city he is flying to. CPN is that he didn’t want to say when he last went to QD. that’s because there were some talks before that he visited the ADLAD cast ( XZ ) in QD. 🤫

but this could also be him calling out the sisheng fans who “knows” his itinerary and private schedule. 💀💀💀💀💀

There is a new fake story about XZ collecting blind box figures and he complained to WLS that he cannot seem to complete the set he wants. So WLS helped him get it all. This is the set he allegedly wanted :

The second part of this is Patrick ( XZ counterfeiting account ) refuting the rumors of a drama collab between XZ & Y@ngzi. Whether the account is purely a fan account with contact to XZS or WJJW. An XZS employee or a WJJW employee, the sus part here is how quickly this rumor was denied in XZ’s part. There are so many drama and movie melons coming out and putting XZ’s name on it and they don’t address it. If they do, it’s not as quick as this. 30 minutes from when that melon account rumor started getting traction.

This “speed” of denial is not new, some artists / fan accounts do this too ( like ZLY fan when she was rumored to star in mermaid came out lol ) but it’s uncharacteristic for XZ.

There is also a ! on it, this is the only one with that since the account started posting in 5/2020 where that was used. it’s added for emphasis looks like. you can check the account to see for yourself.

I’m not saying he hates his former co-star. I’d like to think they have a professional relationship as what one would expect with a former co-worker and people who go around the same entertainment circle. But one thing is for sure, he doesn’t want to be associated with her in this capacity. A project using his popularity to get attention when he is already signed on with Condor Heroes. And the last time they went on HS together was about using the same car which last night — y@ngzi was on HS again because that same car was also used by Li Xian ( also a former co-star she is romantically linked with ) proving that the issue was so ridiculous! but somehow, some glass hearted cpfs had doubts. lol. please.

i don’t like talking about our boys and other cps associated to them but his connection with this woman seems to make a lot of cpfs nervous. which i don’t understand. 😂😂😂😂 so i hope those people get some sort of “comfort” with this.

guys idk if i’ll ever finish/post my fic, but here’s a excerpt of it 🙌🏼

despite his better judgment, he didn’t shave his face for the second time in a row. not that anything impressive was happening, he discovered during his second year of law school no matter how long he’d grow it out, he’d only get a scrappy scruff at most on his face. so he usually didn’t bother, never letting himself get passed a five o’clock shadow. 

but outside circumstances mess up his routine, and by the time he realized, it was too late. 

because cooper noticed, and was weirdly attached to it. well, not weirdly. maybe. oliver wasn’t sure. 

but cooper would touch his face even more often, running his fingers over and through the dark hair, smiling to himself at it’s prickling. after they would kiss hello or goodbye cooper would purposely rub their faces together like he was a cat or something. 

so even though the blonde didn’t verbally approve it, oliver could tell cooper liked it. 

he was grateful to look the clock and see that it was pass the time for him to leave, he always stayed late and he figured no one would yell at him if he left now. 

so he quickly gathered his things, urgent to get home to his boy. 

when he came through the door he could instantly tell the mental plans he had made weren’t happening. cooper greeted him at the door like usual, smiling, but not in his happy-to-see-you way. it looked tighter, less genuine. he kissed oliver all the same, pushing his jacket off for him. 

“what’s wrong?” oliver asked him. 

cooper shook his head, kissed him again, “nothing,” one more kiss, “my mom’s here.” he whispered. 

“what?” oliver whispered-shouted. he’d never met the blonde’s mom, and if he thought about cooper’s dad, he didn’t really have the best track record with meeting the parents. “why?”

cooper shook his head, “she just showed up.” he said helplessly, “she’s been here for half an hour and i’m losing it.” 

oliver nodded at him, gesturing him to direct. they ended in the kitchen, where a pretty blonde woman who looked just like cooper sat, cup of tea in her hands. the mug was well worn and loved, one of cooper’s favorites, he wondered if the blonde had given it to her on purpose. 

and, based on nothing at all, oliver thought maybe mrs. bradford would be the total opposite of her husband. she’d be as warm and inviting as her son, as kind and sweet. she’d be a bright spot in the bradford’s otherwise dark world, but when he introduced himself and offered a hand he could tell she was as bitter as her tea. 

she leveled him with a stare that made him feel like he was being scolded by his mom at age eleven. 

“you’re the one that got cooper to run off?” she asked, cooper pushed him into the chair opposite, standing behind him. 

he sighed, like this was a recurring conversation. 

“i didn’t ‘run off’, mom.” he said. 

she waved him off. 

“cooper told me your a lawyer.” she said instead, voice cold and solid, like ice. 

“yes ma’am. for about two years.” 

“well, at least one of you has some sense.” she said, and oliver could feel cooper flinch behind him, his mom must’ve saw because she frowned. 

“why are you just standing there? sit down.” 

cooper sighed again, walking off to their hallway closet, where they kept a few extra folding chairs incase that had people over. even though he was still in his line of sight, oliver couldn’t help feel like he was trapped with his mother alone. he could feel her gaze, like she was sizing him up. 

“what do your parents do?” she asked. 

“my dad is a history professor and my mom stays home.” it’s hard to say stay-at-home-mom when there aren’t really any kids there. 

she nods, but doesn’t say anything else. 

cooper came back, chair in hand. “are you staying for dinner?” he asked, and oliver could hear the ‘please don’t’ in his voice. 

“what’re you making?” oliver asked. 

“spaghetti, probably.” 

mrs. bradford raised her eyebrows, looking at her son, “you’re making it?”

the other blonde nodded. 

“so you do know how to do something.” 

cooper’s knee shook under the table and oliver could see his jaw clench, he started picking at the table, which seem to anger his mother more. 

“stop fidgeting.” 

cooper stilled, like a switch was flipped. it was weird, oliver never saw him so motionless. the boy was always moving, tapping his fingers, bouncing his leg, like there was a song in his head only he could hear the beats to. 

his mother didn’t lift her glare though, not until she took another sip of tea. 

“do you have any siblings, oliver?” she sounded like saying his name was something difficult, or foreign. nothing like when cooper said it. 

“two, a older sister and a younger sister.” 

she nodded, “that makes sense.” 

before he could ask what that meant she began again, “you used to work for my husband.” 

“yes.” 

“and now you don’t, because of him.” she gestured to her son, who hadn’t moved since she told him not to do so. 

“it was my decision.” he said.

she just hummed, “he doesn’t have any money, not yet anyway, he only gets what we give him until he gets married or die. it looks like the latter will be coming first.” 

“i have my own money.” and, oliver could marry cooper if he wanted too, but something told him they still wouldn’t give cooper his money. 

“right, im sure you do, being a lawyer and all.” she smiled, not kindly, before standing. “i should be going.” 

cooper followed her up, “i’ll walk you down.” 

“i’ll do it, you can get started on dinner.” oliver spoke before his brain could catch up, hand on his boyfriend’s arm. “don’t worry about it.” 

cooper looked to his mother, who seemed to think for a moment before nodding. “that’ll be fine.” 

he helped her with her coat and ushered her out the door before she could say anything else about anything, cooper gave a halfhearted wave but otherwise said nothing. 

it was a quiet trip down, thankfully, and oliver thought maybe he was in the clear. 

“you know, you could find someone a lot better for yourself.” 

oliver looked at her sharply, they were on the curb, waiting for a black bradford car cooper used to ride in. 

“i don’t think so.” 

“you seem like a good man.” she said, confused. 

“cooper is plenty good for me, too good for me, in fact. he’s your son, you should know that.” 

she waved him off, “i haven’t known that boy in a long time.” 

oliver opened his mouth to speak, but her car pulled up and swept her away before he could. he turned back to the building, deciding he’d keep this conversation to himself. usually he’d tell cooper everything, but this didn’t seem like one of those times. 

this was proven when he entered the apartment again and saw all the lights off, the extra chair still at the table, along with mrs bradford’s half drank tea, and nothing being cooked. 

oliver followed the hallway down to the bedroom, quietly knocking on the door. 

“cooper?” 

the boy was lying in the dark, facing away, but he half turned at oliver’s voice. 

“do you want anything?” oliver asked. 

the other boy didn’t respond.

If she says she’s working on it and is unable to get anywhere, then it’ll just look like false platitudes. I’m really fed up with the fans just posting complete conjecture too. if she came out and said "i'm sorry for what happened, you guys, i'm trying my best to rectify and clarify the situation" they'd be angry at her for not offering solutions

if she came out and said "due to what happened i'll be postponing the tour until my team and i can come up with a way to ensure tickets make it into the hands of fans and not third party resellers, sorry for the inconvenience" they would be mad because they want her touring, even if to fix the situation the solution would be to not

Day 28: Walk of Pride

sorry for not posting in ages guys i was struggling through my writer's block -_- anyway here you go! hope you like it <3 i struggled to write it ngl, idk if I really like it but ah well.

Rati had always been scared to attend a Pride festival.

It felt like admission: yes, I am gay. Yes, I am proud.

Proud of what? What did she have that made her special? She had always been a blank puzzle, with missing pieces that could be scattered anywhere across the globe. How was she supposed to colour herself in rainbow and call it Pride?

Rainbows had always seemed like sad, fickle things to her. Small chinks of happiness that were erased by the sun. That were only possible with the most specific combination of events. Rain, and sunlight slanting exactly the right way.

Then what did that say about herself?

What did that make her?

Delicate? Impossible?

She had always been such a good girl: she sat in the front row. She played two instruments. She handed her work in on time. She didn’t doodle, didn’t gossip, didn’t daydream. Didn’t, didn’t, didn’t. Her entire life had hinged on couldn’t, wouldn’t, didn’t.

What could she do?

She was named for the Goddess of Love, after all. Then why wasn’t she confident in her own? Did that kind of confidence only come with straight love? Was she really as broken as her mother implied when she talked about lesbians? Every time she felt butterflies in her stomach, she locked them away. The day she called herself gay, she felt something inside her that she hadn’t felt before.

A sense of belonging.

That was the only reason she persevered, if she was being honest. That feeling had lit a flame inside her, a tiny sun of her own.

God knew there was enough rain in her heart. Maybe this little sun would make her own rainbow.

So when she went to college, she kept her head up and a smile on her face. She knocked at the door of the college Pride Club, and when the leader, (‘Padma’, her name tag read) opened it, she plucked up all her courage and asked:

“Excuse me, does this college have a pride event?”

She was half expecting Padma to laugh at her. For her to shoo her away and say that young girls, in their first year at college, didn’t belong at Pride.

Except – that wasn’t what happened at all.

Padma held the door open with a gentle smile and beckoned her in. “Of course! In fact, we have a pride event tomorrow, to mark the end of Pride Month. Do you want to meet the rest of the team?”

Rati hesitated. If she stepped over that line that marked the boundary between corridor and classroom, she would be safe. She could go back to reading in the library and not stirring up a fuss and presenting as ordinary. She could be good little Rati that never stepped out of line, just like she had been for the last seventeen years.

But something inside her was tired of being good. A little voice (her namesake, perhaps?) whispered to her that perhaps it was time to try being bad for a change.

And so, she offered a radiant smile for what she hoped to find in that room.

“I would love to.”

Pride Club was not like what she had expected at all. In fairness, though, she didn’t know what she’d expected. Whatever it was, it wasn’t this.

Ten to fifteen students lounged around the classroom, eating their lunch and chattering playfully with each other. Padma, perhaps sensing that she was getting a little shyer, put a reassuring hand on her shoulder.

“Guys!” she called to make herself heard over the chatter. “Oi! Guys!”

Everyone turned to look at her, and Rati dropped her gaze to the ground at their subtle scrutiny. “This is our new member, Rati,” Padma gestured to her. “Be nice, all right?”

“Hi, Rati!” A short girl with choppy bangs grinned at her. “I’m Anshika, Padma’s favourite-” she lowered her voice, winking as if divulging a secret, “-and only – girlfriend!”

Padma blushed. “Shut up.”

“H-Hi, Anshika-ji.” Rati managed to smile shyly at her.

“I’m Khushi!”

“Anshuman.”

“Hey! Ravi here.”

As they made their introductions, something settled in Rati’s heart that had been fluttering around inside of her. She allowed the smile on her face to settle. This… this felt nice.

The next day, it took far less courage to show up to the Pride event.

This is it. She thought. I’m finally admitting it.

She held her flag tightly, and when the moment came, waved it high in the air. For once, the rainbow seemed strong, invincible. More than a trick of the light.

This felt like belonging.

This was her family.

This was her place.

And this was her pride.

Random thoughts I had during my fifth viewing of the cinematic masterpiece "Cocktail" (1988)

Well... more like my 5 2/3 viewing bc I got like 2/3 through it and then my mom was like "why didn't you tell me you were gonna watch it, I would have wanted to watch it too" so I lied about how far I was through it "there's still a lot left we can start it over" and I watched the same movie almost twice in a row in the span of a few hours :)

"Wild Again" by Starship is one of the only good songs tbh, although "Addicted to Love" and "When Will I Be Loved" are also pretty alright. But the soundtrack is lowkey horrendous imo

I stand by my previous standalone post- no one has ever been that excited to get on a fkin Greyhound bus

Benefit of the bus, however- the scene with him and the baby; I feel like Tom just vibes really well w kids because he's such a smiley, fun, and chaotic lil guy and gREAT now I have baby fever again thx 💖

Oh the blatant plot exposition about his parents that they beat us over the head with oh-so-subtly

Oh the foreshadowing throughout that is even less subtle

What the actual fuck was the whole yuppie poet thing about- it's like when I used to watch those 60s Frankie and Annette movies where the weirdest shit would just happen for no reason and I felt like there was some social commentary or inside joke or smth that was just going way over my head that, if I had existed in that time, would have just been like "oh yeah that makes total sense"

The amount of raw sexual energy that this man exudes- I remember someone's post from a while back that was like "why is Cocktail like a 'mom' movie that all the moms are still obsessed with" but just like imagine if you saw this in theaters when it first came out

The only man allowed to wear beach shirts and look sexy, change my mind

I've always thought Elisabeth Shue is so incredibly underappreciated as an actress, smth about her line delivery and expressions just seems very genuine and naturalistic idk

She just orders “a beer” WHAT KIND???

So scary tbh how much he was becoming like Doug even being apart from him for a while

WHEN HE FIGHTS EVERYONE OFF TO GET TO JORDAN what can I say, I'm a sucker for grand and melodramatic romantic gestures and proclamations of love

The teasing and singing along at the wedding is getting a little too real guys stop making this awkward 👀😬

Big Brother Spoilers ahead (tonight’s double eviction)!!

Ok so I haven’t made any actual posts about this season in a hot minute because… it’s just not as enjoyable for me anymore (for reasons talked about near the end of this post).

Anyways, I expected Blue to go tonight. I’m kinda disappointed they didn’t split it and make Jag get blood on his hands, but oh well.

Then BOWIE once again winning HOH when I don’t think she really intended to? She also clearly threw the Veto competition 😭😂

Them not taking the shot to get Jag out right now is such a big mistake. Like, seriously?? I kind of understand Matt not using the Veto in the off change Jag went up and didn’t go home (or Jag didn’t go up and was like “dude why?” Later), but this is the end game!! You gotta make those big moves.

America leaving was upsetting, but I also wasn’t that shocked as much as I hoped the others would make a big move.

Lets also take in the fact that Jag could be HOH for a 3rd week in a row now… I haven’t checked who won, if that’s even happened yet, but I’m guessing he will.

The competitions this season have been mostly physical, which feels weird to me. Not to mention this Veto was similar to the one Matt won last double.

Currently, I think Jag or Matt will take the win. I’m rooting for Jag because a) I’m not a fan of Matt for his comments in the house and b) Jag winning would be so cool since she was “evicted” weeks back and c) this man, even if he’s made poor moves occasionally, has been one of the best players this season.

I really hope BB goes back to letting actual fans who understand the game get into the house ONLY, because the recruits don’t really know what they’re doing. Poor jury management and allowing two absolute beasts of competitors steamroll through the game…

I’m going to give myself one more day to try and get my stars thoughts coherent and if that doesn’t work I’ll be a coherent dump cuz I just can’t figure out how to organise or structure it. I think you might have broken me because there’s so much content and so much I want to talk about. Either that, or we can blame the exams. One more day and I have survived the 2/3 of my exams in a row limbo I’m currently in. Who made this stupid schedule.

Anyway, have some random Glass Devine thoughts. I really love this rewrite. Everything feels more polished. More development has gone into the world and it shows. I love Clara and Kristins statues being opposites. It’s a nice parallel to show that they are like two halves of the same coin. I feel like there’s supposed to be a balance between the two. Anyway, it’s just nice. Also I feel like there’s some significance in Wilbur not feeling like Clara’s face is familiar. Maybe it’s being depicted wrong? Idk. Doesn’t really matter right now.

Also, there are a lot of things I want to talk about, but I feel like that’s spoilers for people who haven’t read the first version, so some thing I’ll leave out for now and others all be vague about. I like the foreshadowing on Wilbur’s backstory. Or the little bits and pieces we get. It makes sense if you know what it is, but if you don’t it just makes you more concerned (like Tommy hearing that he’s spelt in worse places). Similarly Tommy’s breathing. I haven’t read Someone else’s dream in a while, so at first I was confused what it could be, because it seemed weird that Tommy would be claustrophobic, but then the memory snapped into place and it’s just some nice foreshadowing for something Wilbur doesn’t know yet.

Also, rewrite things is like: all of Glass!Charlie. You always do such a good job with this character and his specific brand of weird. Yes he totally has a normal amount of bones. [“See you later, Tommy from Downstairs and Tommy from Downstairs’ new friend!”] I’ve only had Glass!Chalrie for a day and a half, but if anything were to happen to him I would kill everyone reading this fic and then myself.

They can see in the dark! It’s because of the prosthetic eyes right? I didn’t realise Tommy had them because his eyes are blue (I think), but he must have, right? The light bugs! I think they were just orbs in the first iteration. I could be wrong, but I love them anyway. The entire new layout of the base, they have a back door now? Also the fact that there’s an extra door and guard.

first off thank you so much!! yes the rewrite feels so much more polished and that's partially because when I wrote the og I knew it wasn't going to be anything very long, so I wasn't really trying to make it super coherent or well thought out. it was just kind of for shits and giggles. now it's the start of a much longer story, so I've had a lot more time to think things through and I'm really happy with how it's going so far

yes there is supposed to be balance between clara and kristin! although clara is more often associated with time/the future, she technically is also representative of life itself. so clara = life, kristin = death. they're two sides of the same coin. that's why clara's statue looks up, while kristin's statue looks down.

I won't spell out the exact reasoning but the significance in wilbur feeling like clara's face isn't familiar actually has more to do with his own faith in clara as opposed to something being wrong with the statue, if that makes sense. it's an internal problem, not an external one.

eh don't worry too much about spoilers for the other version because we're deviating pretty hard from the og very very soon. as in, I finished chapter 3 tonight and i'm gonna post it tomorrow morning and that gets us basically to the point of someone else's dream that i'm rewriting. everything deviates after chapter 3 into entirely original new plot (for the most part).

ok true on tommy's breathing though. that is a nod to something in the og so that kind of is a spoiler warning I guess. it's going to become plot relevant in a few chapters so ;)

also, uh ngl I didn't make the connection that people would assume the stairs bit was tommy having cybernetic eyes because that's not the case. tommy has normal eyes. the stairs thing is literally just that he's gone up and down those steps so many times he has them memorized and doesn't need light to go up and down them. this gets mentioned in the chapter i'm posting tomorrow tho so there you go.

yes the layout of the base is similar but so different at the same time! the most important change is that it's a temple and not just some random cavern, which I am really proud of and has given me a lot of room to design a very cool layout. I'm literally considering making a blueprint online just so you guys can understand the layout of the entire place bc I feel like it's really confusing to explain.

I'm...not sure food-based punishment IS okay? (I don't mean "you need to eat this because it's (supposed to be) healthy for you even if you don't like it", I mean "I am specifically making you eat a food you don't like because you did a Bad Thing"). Idk i think food as a punishment (and even reward) system could foster a lot of unhealthy eating habits or attitudes towards food.

But i've also never had kids and don't plan on doing so, so my opinions on that are all theoretical

One: didn’t know he told his kid they were normal apples. That’s nine new layers of wtf.

General Consensus seems to be that any tying of food to punishment (or reward) is shaky ground. And a lot of general statements on kids and food, all fascinating. Couple of comments for intuitive eating, which I think is a mostly great thing… but feels a little disconnected. It isn’t always applicable if you’re broke. Same thing with offering kids a different option if they don’t like that food. If you can only afford the single vegetable on sale and covered by Snap(they’ve improved the system but it’s still imperfect) that week, or if you’re eating whatever the food bank had, disliking a food isn’t enough reason to not eat it. I’m an adult, still hate veg, and still make myself eat some.

If they truly hate it, sure, you’ll avoid it and won’t make them eat it. But when the choice is Kid eats Zero Produce or Kid eats French Cut Green Beans, most parents are gonna insist they eat the beans. Kids are not logical or consistent. Yesterday they adored beans, today, they’re having a tantrum. Planning for their moods is hard, and I often side with the parents.

I also got a lot of general vibes of “the parents should never make a mistake in child rearing” that made me uncomfy. I wish that was a option. Really. But its not gonna happen. Ever. Not only does advice and recommendation change over the years, parents are humans. If you get home after two eight hour shifts in a row and need to make dinner, I can’t blame you for only making one meal choice or being a little snippy when they decide corn is the devil. Heck, less than that.

Legumes make my stomach real unhappy. I didn’t understand why but I knew I didn’t want to eat them. As in, they once said I couldn’t leave the table til I ate the dinner (chili) so I stayed there til midnight. (this was when dad realized this wasn’t just me being a brat and he’d make sure there was a spare stack crackers and extra cheese) But there were three kids, and it took til I was out of the house before it mostly stuck in my moms head that I hated legumes. (It’s cool. I never remember her birthday, she still sends me legume recipes) I know it made her batty that I fought every vegetable. My family loved veg and fruit. I had to be bribed to eat other than my four acceptable ones. I would also have found me very frustrating and probably said “eat it or not, but I’m not making you your own meal” pretty often. Parenting is exhausting y’all.

There’s also the factor of multiple kids. My siblings faves were meals I despised. (See above, chili, which the whole family loved) And vice versa. I’d i was happy, they were suffering. Cooking full alternate meals wasn’t an option(god we were poor) and yeah, they’d give me more of the part I hated least, and I never went to bed hungry, and it wasn’t done as punishment, but my child brain sure as heck thought it was.

The most damaging food based childhood thing wasn’t punishment, it was how hard they tried to avoid wasting food. Again, I get it. They bought the food that was on the cusp of going bad, it couldn’t sit in the fridge for five days. But that meant my dad pushed this No Leftovers thing. And, if you put it on your plate, you had to eat it. All three of us, to this day, have trouble leaving food on the plate even if we’re full. Again, not great, good intentions, he didn’t want us to starve, caused some issues, but not punishment because it wasn’t intended or treated that way.

Specifically on the punishment via food thing, I still find a weird grey zone here.

Say you have four meals planned for the week. One is your middle child’s top five foods. Middle child fights a kid at school. You decide to change plans and not cook that one tonight. (It’s me, I am middle child) that’s definitely in the Punishment category, because you’re withdrawing a promised Good Thing. But I’m totally cool with it now. I took that kid down hard, no, I don’t get to have my fave that night. Or the next.

That’s in the pile of ‘until you X to make up for it, you can’t have Y’ which is a solid thing to me? “Until you apologize for stealing all the crayons from your brother, you can’t keep coloring.” That’s instructive and reinforces better behavior. It being food makes it shaky. I get that. It’s why I asked for opinions in the first place.

I think I’m drawing my line between foods you dislike vs hate. You’re not starving, you’re just not happy about dinner.

And seriously, fuck that guy for the sneak attack spicy apples. If you and your kid show mutual affection via pranks, I’m probably okay with it, cause it’s one bite, they spit it out, and begin plotting revenge. Also, if they’re old enough to pull pranks, they’re old enough to understand that it’s not malicious. But dude. Wtaf

putting details on this really put into perspective just how short niamh is. it’s different when it’s just the basic shapes but making them all actual people and. god. she’s a full foot shorter than zenith. compact!

i sure like boots in my designs, huh. also fingerless gloves, i actually removed temerity’s here because i couldn’t have three of them in a row. i’m a coward.

syrus and niamh both have the useless belts, though niamh has more lol

chain mail is a fucking pain to draw and i didn’t do a great job here BUT i do like how it ends up looking when i do it right. i did remove it from temerity’s legs and gave him... pants? leggings? need to draw him again from a different angle to figure out what the look is. anyway i covered it up to spare myself some.

the only other time i’ve drawn toby’s armor, i did the pic in grayscale, and tbh i couldn’t figure out another color scheme. partly because now it’s just grayscale in my head. also i like to imagine the lightning on his armor actually lighting up the same blue as the gem (which is an artificer thing and not a feature of the armor as it was made) and i think that’d stand out better on the grayscale.

god syrus’ limbs are just so long

temerity’s face rarely comes out right imo, i’ve gotten him right like. twice maybe. but i think asya’s came out especially cute here!

the color variation here is decent, could use more brighter colors. toby would be more colorful in regular clothes but that’s not their default look so y’know.

four of the six have... partially closed eyes? heavy lidded eyes? idk how that actually translates, but i draw their upper eyelid more on them. i do that a lot in my designs, i just like the look! syrus’ eyes are downturned, asya’s are upturned. syrus and niamh both have the under-eye lashes emphasized more. every time i draw them i remember this one post saying it’s a slutty character design choice. let my kids live.

realizing my two autistic kids here have more neutral/flat default expressions. just how they be.

syrus and toby have my favorite outfits. the super deep V on syrus is fun, and i just love toby’s armor. WISH THEY STILL HAD IT BUT Y’KNOW!!!

i’m not good at symmetry and tend to draw at an angle so the hands don’t quite fall in the same place. one’s higher than the other or gets tucked more behind the leg or both. just something i noticed. need to work on that!

i don’t think they look TOO same-face-y, though that’s something i’ve struggled with. part of my problem again is that i just. can’t tell faces apart SUPER well. i know what shapes i’m going for when i draw a character and i can get the general idea down but i don’t always recreate them properly.

some of their heads are too big, or the proportions of their facial features are off. i can’t fully tell which is which. zenith and toby are the main culprits here.

this feels like a lot of nitpicking my art but the intent is still to discuss the designs as i’m doing so. i’m only partially going off-track.

part of me says i need to utilize patterns more in the clothes i draw, but that’s harder to recreate quickly. toby’s armor took me so long compared to everyone else. simple designs are easy to draw quick and less detailed, as my style often requires. but i like how toby looks here with the details in their armor! everyone else looks so plain next to them in comparison. i’ll think about it.

armor in general is hard for me, that’s why everyone typically dresses in regular clothes in my designs even if they wear armor in-game. i also don’t always look how armor looks so, y’know. clothes are more fun for me to draw.

okay i am going to make a little explainer post for how i’m going to do writersnatural but basically it’s what it sounds like. i’m going to watch the entire show by writer in order of appearance. so first i’m going to watch all of kripke’s episodes since he wrote the first two, watch all of his through 6x01, and then move on to dead in the water and the gamble/tucker episodes. for cowritten episodes i’m going to try to keep them as close in proximity to each individual writer as possible (for example i’m going to watch all the gamble/tucker episodes, then the just tucker ones, then the just gamble ones) but for some that just isn’t going to be possible if they both have a ton of episodes individually (like the ones cowritten by dabb and bobo). i don’t really know why i’m doing this because i’m going to end up with like 50 buckleming episodes in a row at some point but it’s all in the name of science (watching supernatural in insane new ways). and i’m going to try to bring some content from the episode tags back into circulation too! maybe even some old meta if i can find any. anyway this got long but i wanted to have an explainer somwhere on my blog lol. idk how much i’ll liveblog but i’m tagging everything as writersnatural!!

hello fellow runners five/runner fives/idk, some of you seemed amused by my m36 post and i’m having fun and your :)s and shit are making me nervous so i thought i’d post some predictions/thoughts about the rest of s2 ranging from totally serious to not serious at all. i’m just gonna jot them down as they come to me and post this before i play m37. pls don’t say if they’re right or not tho

-8′s “dog bite” is actually a zombie bite and van ark gave her some experimental long term treatment for it. this one’s pretty serious but it’d also balance nicely with paula if she’s on his side purely because she believes in his cause so idk.

-alternately she volunteered for one of his experiments and her version turned out to be more stable and van arc’s and paula’s

-i think she might die? whether van ark lets her turn, she’s killed by the prisoners, 5 or another runner kill her in a fight, or something else, idk. i just kinda Have A Feeling. i hope not though, i am mad but i also think she’ll be a fun antagonist so i want her to hang around for a while.

-i don’t think anything’s gonna happen with paula anytime soon, but i’m starting to lose faith in her. i mean, she didn’t have to go through with the sabotage, even if she wanted to rescue 5. she also could’ve escaped with them, if 5 had time to get away so did she. van ark wouldn’t have found out she didn’t do it until they were both long gone.

-whatever was on that ship 8 was on comes back to bite abel and new canton in the ass. i’ve been Anticipating this since that mission but idk. it looks like the prison is gonna be the whole final arc of the season so unless it’s near the ocean i’m not sure how it would. then again “a disaster happens at abel while you’re gone and can’t get back” seems very in line for this game. anyway, i’ll be surprised if nothing ever comes of that

-the informant is someone from that ship. i still don’t know what happened to them and this is another thing i’d be surprised if nothing ever came of. maybe the captain, he seemed extra shady.

-8 kills the informant to keep them quiet and pins it on 5. i’m almost sure she’s gonna kill them, i mean, why wouldn’t she? she has everything to gain and nothing to lose. i’m sure most of abel (except maybe sam) will believe her over 5, she’s been there longer so i’m sure they trust her more. and she’s the major’s favorite 🙄

-i don’t really trust the major either but i don’t have much to say about that i just don’t like powerful people who hide things and are willing to sacrifice kids

-8 tries to kill 5? whether directly or just abandoning them in the prison, again, why wouldn’t she? 5′s the only one who knows for sure she’s the traitor. it does seem like van ark wants 5 alive though but like, i could be wrong or she might do it anyway, she seems to be building up to loose cannon territory.

-i don’t think abel will fall two seasons in a row but i wasn’t expecting the first one either sooooo... i dunno, 7 comes back, loses control of his plane/gets shot out of the sky, and crashes into the township ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

-i do think 7 might come back at some point, but probably not this season

-“new canton gets rocket launchered by zombies” is too repetitive to happen but again, wasn’t expecting it the first time (i mean, i was expecting the rocket launchers to come back, but it was one of those super fun slow horrific realizations as it was happening). i wouldn’t be super surprised if it fell at some point though. it’d be pretty disastrous, there’s no way abel can take in every new canton resident.

-most likely though, i think 5 will end season 2 trapped in the prison or in van ark’s custody, with no way to contact abel. so no way to know if something happens to either town.

-also not a lot to say about this but i’m very excited to see what’s up with zombie len. obviously something’s different about him and i can’t wait to find out what it is

Nana Episode 35 - Reira’s Loneliness

Alright well I think last episode truly was the episode that sucked out every last drop of remaining enthusiasm I have left for this show. But. BUT. I only have 13 episodes left. I will watch them. And in doing so, I will learn... what happens in this show, I guess.

Also yeah I did just miss four posts in a row. It’s fine.

I can’t take these stupid strawberry glasses seriously as the crux of all this calamity. How did this feel during the manga? 90% of the relevance of strawberry glasses up until this point was that you would see them in the opening of every single episode, so like... were they on chapter covers? Volume covers? I dunno man. I get that using a mundane object as a symbol of something more conceptual is “deep” but like I dunno. Is it?

I mean I guess I normally like mundane objects being tied to themes, maybe I wouldn’t be so hard on this if it wasn’t Nana that was doing it and it’s actually something else about the writing here that bothers me. Shrug. Shrug! Shrug!!!

This is a sad sentiment, and I wish I could say something like “I can’t wait to see how her self-esteem improves over the course of her arc!” or something.

What is Ren wearing? Is that a Cool Person Shirt? The front of the shirt doesn’t have any splotches, so why does the back have splotches? Who’s going to be staring at Ren’s back?

Ren and Takumi are weird friends. But I guess it’s good that Takumi has at least one friend, even if he is an Evil Villain whose actions cause Evil Villain Music to play.

Homosexuality is definitely the only thing that could make me go back to caring even slightly about this series. But Nanacest won’t happen, because that’s a shattered dream just like what happens to strawberries when sad stuff happens. So Ren might as well date Yasu for all I care.

Oh, Yasu actually wants Reira to have an arc about improving her self-esteem. But Takumi doesn’t want to instigate that arc, because Evil Villain Music wouldn’t be able to play while he did that. So he says Yasu should just put in the work to instigate that arc himself. What a jackass...?

holy shit shut up about gender. i have no idea what this is supposed to mean or why it’s relevant, but the fact that both nanas are women gets brought up constantly. who gives a fuck. ai yazawa should have written a series about two MEN with the same name surrounded by many WOMEN and one of them is a musician and the other one isn’t, instead of this series. it would be called... um... adam. and i guess it would be set in the west instead of in japan??? idk. adam was the most similar-to-nana-sounding masculine name i could think of on short notice.
