I think he takes the longest to build himself back up to where you guys were in your relationship.. the trauma (which realistically they all have, however I think so far at least its hit kinger the worst), losing his possible wife (queener/queenie), reconnecting with his kids (I hc he had at least one kid!!), ect ect

Writing this down first before I forget but you guys open up a body mod shop together. Piercings, tattoos, ect ect ect. Idk zooble just kind of gives off those vibes, and I feel like you guys would do that together. You guys move in a.. longish..while after reuniting in the real world and confirming who you are to one another.. it's not so much as zooble wants to make sure it's really you, its more so zooble needs time to get used to the real world again + they're cagey about their space !

Werewolves in media... More could be done. A rant? A not /neg rant just like a... "I want to see this" sorta rant. SHUSH I know I've made a post like this before but this one has DEPTH!!

I feel like werewolves should be a little something more than the "scary monster people are scared of." Give the poor beast some depth, or a story! tell me a story about someone who is happy with their wolf, embraces it, and isn't the antagonist, nor are they murderers.

Actual wolves aren't thirsty for human blood, and pretty much everyone doesn't have that either, so why would a werewolf? Why would its only drive to be to kill and cause torment? Sure, that could be the result of a magic curse they find themselves under, but.. why can't the story of a werewolf be more than that? What about their animal side? No, not bloodlust, that isn't what being an animal means at all. What about the werewolf wandering the woods, appreciating the moon or sky and the person underneath feeling an ecstasy at the momentary return to nature. What if the wolf was, yes, animal, but still had human aspects? In the mind, I mean. Not just the body. Not enough to talk or have much of a... consciousness? I suppose? but I mean more, again, as in a return to nature.

What if the person inflicted with lycanthropy is at first terrified of what will happen to them, because all they know is the media's (and even religion's) representation of the beasts, but once the inevitable night comes and they transform, they don't turn out to be a vicious monster, but rather... just... an animal. (But yeah please keep them strange man-beast things? that design is really fun. Who would've guessed the furry likes anthro wolves? Classic.)

Idk, sorry for the long one. If anyone knows a piece of media like this, please tell me, I'd love to check it out. One I can recommend is... tsk, this old Nickelodeon movie called The Boy Who Cried Werewolf. It's cheesy but it's not awful! I feel like it's the first time where I really saw werewolves portrayed in a positive light. Yeah, it's got its flaws... Cus it's a kids movie but. Shut up I enjoy it and it's a fun Halloween watch and I'm very nostalgic for it.

So I'm watching yesterday's stream of Étoiles and the way he talk about missing Forever and not really understanding what is happening (I mean the man has a whole war against the codes, he doesn't have time to investigate others) is really endearing.

I don't watch forever pov but I get the feeling that he is isolating himself, while others now hesitate to reach out to him, so double isolation. And having one person of the QSMP saying out loud : " I miss talking to forever, we use to see him so often and since the presidential campaign we nearly never see each other" is nice and nostalgic. I think a lot of cc feel that way but I haven't seen one verbalize it yet except Étoiles.

Anyways while seeing all that I was also thinking that Forever getting kidnapped could actually be interesting for irl reason and in game reason :

- irl because Forever could talk a break of a week or so. Breath and relax out of QSMP (this man need it)

-in games, people will either realize it or it will be indicate that he was kidnapped. Then we will have this whole expedition of players running to save him. Kinda re establishing that they all care about each others, president or not. Even for q!forever, maybe seeing his friends come to save him could help with his insecurities.

Idk I'm just rambling, I just have this image in my head of everybody crashing into the Federation jail to rescue forever (basically the only Brazilian that wasn't kidnapped yet). Like I'm happy for some drama but I also feel sad for q!forever and want a happy ending at some point. (Maybe after a battle between bad and forever)

It's been years since I stopped listening to them as I grew up and my tastes expanded, but the GazettE were a huge, huge part of me and of my youth and seeing them again on my dashboard bc of your blog lifted my heart again as though I was 13 again. yesterday i finally watched the new tmnt movie!! at first i wanted to do a live reaction kinda thing, except that wouldn’t work because i'd have to reblog every entry and hiding every single part under a "read more" would be not only tedious, but i'm not even sure if it's possible lol

so instead have a collection of my thoughts here! (spoiler warning, duh)

first of all: the art style. there’s something strangely nostalgic about it. it feels like that is what my mental storyboards as a kid would have looked like, had i been into animating back then. or at least that would have been close to the style i would have liked to emulate.

the explosions looking like violent scribbles is just so 😩🤌♥ chef's kiss, truly. there's something about the art in general that just moves in such a particular way and holds a certain weight and volume,, it feels like cardboard and clay and crayons and the piles upon piles of coloured pencils i used to have as a kid and how the wooden pencil drawer smelled. i'm such a fan of this style i’M obsessed o(-<

in the intro shots for the turtles, raph licking his sai blades is so extra and i love him for that lmao

for some reason i completely forgot they cast jackie chan as splinter and tbh idk how to feel about it? no hate towards him; i just don't think voice acting is his strong suit

meanwhile i'm looooving mikey's voice. also leo's beacuse, well first of all, i am a leo girlie (gender neutral) through and through so i would have loved all aspects of him no matter what. but his voice actor is gumball's i believe? and that's one of my comfort shows 🥺 i just love him sm

ok so, april: i really like how they met. i like her design, her voice and her whole vibe. the whole puking jokes were a little too much for me; personally im not a fan of fart or puke jokes because, well, i’m not a 12yo boy (looking at you seth rogen) but all in all i really liked this rendition of april. it sucks tho that the turtles got a snazzy outfit by the end, both for school and for prom, but april’s clothes always remained the same. would have loved to see what she wore to prom!

the gen z lingo and references: …i mean, i guess it makes sense? i just don’t know how well it will age xD the references to end game and all were fun but, again, will someone in 15 years understand what they meant? will someone in 15 years know what rizz is?

so, back to the forced romance thing. look i get it, they needed a reason to help out april to get the plot going. and if leo said it, then the rest would follow. i get that. but throughout the whole movie, aside from like his brothers elbowing his side knowingly, there’s no more allusion to anything? and then only at the veeeery end, he asks her out and she says yes, so i was like “oh okay so that’s the payoff then. took long enough” but then when they’re dancing she rhetorically asks if they’re just doing this as friends and 😐 maybe this is just my aroace self projecting but,, if you’re gonna use romance/romantic interest as a catalyst (lame tbh), at least be consequent about it?? if you (the writers) didn’t have the intention to explore the relationship, then leave it altogether? again, this is just my aroace opinion,, i can’t relate so i don’t understand. (which i know seems contradictory given my uh, repertoire of fics lmao) personally i would have preferred a different reason for them to helping out april, and having them all just be besties by the end, which they ended up being anyway

so, to sum it all up. it’s a story we’ve seen a hundred times, so there was really nothing new to it. the plot was okay,, the biggest thing that “bothered” me was superfly’s whole extermination thing making no sense, technically. but other than that, my eyes and ears were having an absolute feast. a very enjoyable film all in all. when we got rottmnt, i was like “oh finally an iteration of the teenage mutant ninja turtles where they’re actually teenagers” but scratch that. mutant mayhem is the most teenager one, and i loved them for that. time will tell how the jokes will age but yeah, the way they were depicted was definitely my favourite thing about the film aside from the art style.

Fionna and Cake thoughts so far

I like what they're doing, but there's a nagging part of me that's really of two minds about the whole thing. It's hard to explain.

There's something I don't like about the constant callback cameos by the original AT characters. Don't get me wrong, I understand why they're doing it - mechanically, thematically, nostalgically - but it is bothering me a bit. I don't think it's even a fault of the show itself, so much as it is a fault of The Current State of Media In General.

Listen, I have quite literally been watching Adventure Time religiously since the very first episode aired. I LOVE noticing all the subtle and not-so-subtle cameos in the Fionna and Cake series as they pass by, because I recognize them all from all this time I've spent immersed in this little universe. But there are times when it starts to feel like Fionna and Cake is a series of nothing BUT cameos and callbacks, and that kinda sours things for me.

I know, I know. Mechanically, that's how it's SUPPOSED to be, since Fionna and Cake is - by definition - a fanfic of Adventure Time. It's an AU. It's a crossover. It's a spin-off. It's SUPPOSED to be that. But just like with all the other big name reboot and remakes and re-imaginings we've gotten in the past 5-10 years, it's all just a big game of who's-who and tugging on nostalgia's heartstrings to make this IP emotionally impactful (i.e. Sad, because sadness is the only emotion people ever seem to give a shit about - but that's another opinion for another time).

The Current State of Media In General is that very few new original shows are being made. Studios aren't taking any risks. A significant percentage of shows in the past decade are all just carefully constructed, reimagined, retooled, re-tellings of every possible IP you ever felt attached to as a child. DuckTales, TMNT, Castlevania, Animaniacs, Trigun, He-Man, Super Mario Bros, even fucking FLCL has multiple new spin-offs. It's all about spotting the obscure references and fawning over the little ways they changed things into something meant to tickle the emotion centers in your brain (oh look, Della is singing the Moon Theme from the NES game but now it has lyrics and is sad!). After a while it starts to feel very...formulaic? Manipulative? Corporate?

Idk man, sometimes I just want something to be completely New and original, and not feel like a cut-and-paste heartstrings-playing nostalgia-fest. Sometimes I don't want my childhood to eat well. I want my adult self to have its own new things to enjoy, that mean something to me NOW. I want something that feels Fresh, like, oh I don't know, Adventure Time when Adventure Time first came out?

Again, I get why Fionna & Cake is all cameos. I get it. I understand it. And there's a big part of me that still even loves to see it. But I also sometimes feel kinda cheated by it at the same time. Like there's a glimpse of a show in there that could have been its own cool thing if it weren't so laser-focused on Expanding The Lore. I wish I could describe this feeling better. It's complicated. I'm complicated.

But hey, if you're out there and feeling the same way, congrats on finding this post. I'm right there with ya, buddy.

The Maybe Man

ok no one asked, but here is my AJR album review, song by song:

🌀 Maybe Man: I love this. I have a special place in my heart for all their album openers, they always give me chills. I can't wait to see them open with this live, especially when it goes so hard at the end! I've danced to this a lot already. Also learning that each verse references one song on the album! like a table of contents! I love them so much.

💔  Touchy Feely Fool: Very cute, and fun to sing along with. Probably like a solid 7 or 8 out of 10. Great to listen to, and has grown on me after listening to that Zach Sang interview and learning a little backstory

👍  Yes I'm A Mess: One of my faves from the album. I feel like such a badass walking around listening to this. Wish I could whistle!! The only thing i can't stand is the very end. I don't mind the tempo change but I don't like the slo mo voices that sound like a toy running out of batteries

🤓 The Dumb Song: More mid-tier for me. Got a great swing to it, and the instrumental breaks are really fun to dance to like a total idiot. I like to try out the lamest dance moves and just really commit to it. Lyric-wise, it's cute but reminds me of male weaponized incompetence (I know this isn't the intention, just what i think about), so it makes me feel a little weird if I think about it too much. Can't wait to hear a whole crowd scream "You should nooooot have done that!"

▶️ Inertia: Currently, this is my FAVORITE song on the album. It's fun, it's meaningful, it's got a great beat, and there are sounds that bring me back to past albums so it feels almost nostalgic. They used the instrumentals a lot in their promos for this album, and I can see why. It's both angelic with the choir sounds, and dark with the reverb/bass sounds. So good.

🧍‍♂️ Turning Out Pt iii : Always appreciate the Turning Out songs. Personally, the original is still my favorite. But even that one took me listening to it a dozen times before it really HIT, and then i was crying in the car. So maybe the same will happen with this one someday! Also if i'm not mistaken it's Ryan on vocals? So that's fun to have a change (though honestly he and Jack sound so similar)

🧠  Hole in the Bottom of My Brain: Gosh, so fun! Has that kind of nursery rhyme theme where it builds on itself (swallowed the spider to catch the fly, etc). However, unlike a nursery rhyme, the lyrics are kinda complicated to it's hard to sing along to. I'm sure people will be singing along by the time they're performing it live, like everyone memorizing the rambling line from Karma.

💿 The DJ is Crying for Help: I want to like this one more than I do. Don't get me wrong, I do like it! I think I just find it a little auditorily overwhelming. Like the string arpeggios are awesome, but I can't listen to that and the back up vocals and other sound effects at the same time. idk. To quote my favorite movie, Amadeus: "There are simply too many notes"

🙅🏻‍♂️ I Won't: This one has been out for a while so I feel like I've listened to it a lot already. Definitely makes me swagger walking around my apartment like I'm a total badass. Doesn't get my blood rushing like some of the others, but again that might just be because I've heard it a lot already.

🎡Steve's Going to London: Took me a few play-throughs to actually realize it wasn't just a nothing song! I appreciate them kinda breaking the 4th wall in a very AJR way. This song has grown on me with each listen! Very fun to sing and dance to, and has a great beat. My prediction is that this song will have a lot of special effects when they perform it live. We'll see...

💜 God is Really Real: RIP Gary ❤️ I love that their dad became a beloved part of the fandom. Very touching that they released this song early when it became clear they didn't have much longer with their dad. Beautiful, meaningful addition to the album.

🍂 2085: Perfectly packages up the album! The lyrics say that the old-timey voice says "You are not alone, young child, young child" which is NOT what it sounds like?? So hopefully that gets cleared up. I've seen some claiming it's a Yanny/Laurel situation, and tbh i wouldn't put it past the boys to find a way to do that on purpose. (I hear "You are my heart grown, just know, just know" which i know doesn't really make sense, but it's sweet to me) But the lyrics at the end "You've gotta get better, you're all that I got" give me chills. And then switching to "I gotta get better, I'm all that I got" 😭 . Also loves that it connects so perfectly back to Maybe Man so I can just listen to the album on repeat without interruption

Arthur Harrow x female reader

Readers on her period and he doesn't know until she picks him up from the psych ward and she accidentally bleeds in his (at least I think it's his) limo. She is extremely embarrassed but he's a sweetheart about it!

Idk if you feel comfortable writing this so no worries if you don't want to- it's just a nice comforting story rn.

(I choose to write this as a drabble because I felt it was more accurate).

A sigh of relief left your lips when you both got into the cab. Luckily the driver didn't mention anything about Arthur's clothing, and in fact, didn't make any question besides your destination.

"We'll be fine now" you murmured, giving Arthur a kind, warm look. He smiled, he had missed that face of yours so much it felt like a blessed dream. Then, your eyebrows knitted together.

"Is everything alright?" he asked in soft voice, to not alert the driver.

"Yes, yes, I just... It's nothing" you replied, struggling during the rest of the trip against the flashing pain within your guts. Yes, it had to be precisely that day, right? The only bloody day you couldn't have any mistake nor setback. Anyways, you breathed in and out a couple of times, still smiling to not worry Harrow. He didn't need that shit either, not now he had recovered his freedom.

When the cab arrived to your place, you paid the man and helped Arthur to climb the stairs. It was something you used to do in other times, when the cult (not cult, that word was dirty, it was a healthy, loving community of people who searched for peace) existed; in that time, Arthur seemed so hieratic and calmed, but he hid a disturbing secret, one you learned when you earned his trust. And now, you couldn't help but stare at his feet, as if you still cound hear the mumbled sound of broken glass.

"Thank you, (Y/N)" Arthur gave you a sof pat on your shoulder "Though I feel like you're the one in need today"

"Please, don't. Don't worry about me, Arthur" you both entered to your flat, and the man gave it a quick look.

"So, here is where you live now..."

"Yes. The commune has... well, disolved. I'm very sorry" you stared nostalgic at the little shelf across the living room. You managed to rescue some of Harrow's belongings before the diaspora, mostly small egyptian statues he had displayed in the attic from the London commune.

"Do not feel sad for those who left. We cannot control the destiny of humankind" Arthur pointed before approaching the shelf. And then, another sharp pain hit you, and you hunched embracing your tummy.

"Damn!"

"(Y/N)!" the man went towards you, holding you by the shoulders with great care "What's happening?"

You noticed the leak between your thighs, and your eyes went wide in realization and shame. Still, the cramp pain held you in that awful position for some more seconds.

"I just... please, get me into the bathroom" you pleaded, and the man helped you to reach it.

You couldn't see it, but Arthur's eyes suddenly shone in a quick, violet light that only lasted a second perhaps.

"(Y/N), are you having...?" he didn't want to make you more uncomfortable. You cocked your head, embarrased.

"I'm sorry"

"Why? It's not a big deal, I mean... it's perfectly natural, don't be ashamed of yourself. Come in" Arthur opened the bathroom door for you "Can I help you with something else?"

"I... I think I'll need some tea... It's in the cupboard, in a wooden box"

"Very well then. If you need anything, please... you can tell me"

You closed the door to take care a little of yourself. Of course you couldn't stare with the dirty clothes, so you removed them and tried to clean a little your underwear under the sink water. You took a towel and wrapped your hips with it so you could get into your room and have a proper change. You didn't like pads, but they were good for that sort of emergencies, specially since your period tended to appear in different dates so you couldn't track it. When you were done, Arthur turned off the stove, and poured the warm water in a cup.

"I think you should rest today" he recomended, handing you the cup.

"No, I'm fine-"

"You've already done a lot today, (Y/N). You took a big risk by taking me out of that place and perhaps you still don't know how big, so..."

Like if you were a little child, Arthur helped you to lay on the couch. He took a pillow and slid it under your lower back, and the sensation of something fluffy was surprisingly soothing for the cramps. You rested the cup right over your tummy and sighed.

"You still do so much for me..." you chuckled. Arthur sat on the other couch and extended one arm to caress your forehead. Your eyes went shut, the slightest touch of your beloved, praised Harrow was something you craved for everyday since you joined his community, and now, it was all yours.

Of course your hormones were playing dirty with you, and some tears shone in the corner of your eyes.

"Why crying, my dearest?" he murmured, almost purring. You rushed to rub your eyes.

"Forgive me, I... it's just I missed you"

Arthur's hand cupped your cheek, and you covered it with your own hand.

"I love you" you said without thinking, without waiting he could see the true meaning behind those words. But he shivered. He always received that kind of words, when he was a leader of something, when there were people following. Now, listening the same words when he was weak and abandoned... yeah, it felt real now.

His hand held onto yours with a soft squeeze, and you saw in his eyes the purest look of affection. The one you longed for, and then you thought there were no need of more followers or goddesses to worship. Just you and him, and a second chance to be happy.

James Flint, Black Sails

I have loved and will continue to love James "Flint" McGraw both for his place in the story and just in general. His was the story that took me by the shoulders, shook me briskly and whispered "it doesn't have to be like this, the world doesn't have to be this cruel but it is and aren't you tired of it? Aren't you tired of pretending that the status quo is ok? Aren't you ready to make it change?" And he was the main voice for that sentiment that shook me down to my bones.

Farah Dowling, Fate Winx Saga

Farah is a character who has done horrible things. She's been the unthinking protegé of a monster and still came back from the edge. She's someone who took all the pain she experienced and has decided to be kind, even if she struggles with that sometimes, and I love her for it. And she's not motherly, she's more of a wine aunt, but she still cares so deeply about people and that's refreshing too. And of course I love it when I get a female character who is allowed to be complex and also in charge.

Saul Silva, Fate Winx Saga

I love Saul for being arguably the most responsible adult in the room at all times and also so deeply, deeply defined by tragedy that I don't think he knows who to be without the guilt he's carrying around with him (I'd love to find out, though). He's got a life that's been deeply shitty in so many ways but he keeps trying to do the right thing, and then there's the way that despite everyone else around him caving and doing things that are questionable or just outright wrong, he's the one with the moral center and the conviction to say "no, I'm not doing this and I wish you wouldn't either" even in the face of danger. Oh - and he's a damsel in distress, which I don't get to see in male characters much.

Daud, Dishonored

*looks at Daud* *looks at Saul* uhhhh, I appear to have a thing about guilt-ridden men who also adopt every kid in sight and who end up getting forgiven by the people they hurt. I just think they're neat, ok?

Charles Vane, Black Sails

Look. This character has - oh, so many flaws. He's a piece of shit in so many ways, but he's also got some of the rawest lines in this entire damn show, the ones that I'd willingly get tattooed on me so I don't forget them. If you ever need to know what radicalized me, it was probably this guy and everything he said and did from 2x10 on.

Tiago Rodriguez/Raoul Silva, James Bond

I'm sorry, was I not supposed to like the most stylish villain in a Bond film since...idk, I think the last one with this much personality was probably Elektra King. The brat energy. The little bit of crazy underneath it. The fact that the man had a really valid point and actually succeeded because he set achievable goals. The way he's... not quite sexually aggressive with Bond but also definitely wants to get railed. Fascinating.

Simon Torquill, October Daye

Simon. My darling, best idiot who needs to have someone wrap him in a blanket for about a century and make him as much honey-sweetened tea as he can stand and above all else not allow him to make major decisions until he's had a chance to process the clusterfuck that is his life up til now. I love him, your honor. I love that I get a male character who's allowed to be his own worst enemy but also the kindest, most caring father anyone could ask for when he's not flinging around transformation spells and shooting people with elfshot while being puppeteered by a megalomaniac. And of course I love an actual redemption arc that for once doesn't end in death. Right, Seanan? RIGHT? (jk, I trust her. Mostly).

Rosalind Hale, Fate Winx Saga

Ok, so. I both hate Rosalind and love her as a character. It's a complicated thing, but I think what I really love about her as a character is that she's a female villain who is creepy as fuck and I wish that the writers had not immediately turned her into... whatever the fuck they were going for in s2. I was much more fond of s1 Rosalind who was an absolute monster who broke the adults in the series so badly and so completely that they're still a pack of emotional wrecks twenty years on. I wanted her to stay that monster instead of being written as a butch lesbian who's just very done with everyone's shit and occasionally given to a bit of torture. I wanted a better look at what she did to Farah, and to Ben Harvey, and for someone to spell out in great detail that she took Andreas and broke him down to be her attack dog from the time he was sixteen.

Basically I love the potential of the character but if she turned up in front of me I would be compelled to stab her quickly.

Javik, Mass Effect

There's something about Javik that I keep coming back to and I think it's the sheer weight of what he represents. One individual out of trillions still alive. Shepard's mirror image, but his mission went to hell and his people all died and now he's awake again and it has to feel like a kind of torture. And yet, for all that, Javik's character arc is about hope. It's about picking yourself up, or rather being picked up, and figuring out how to live again. If you do everything right, Javik gets to see the end of the Reapers and the end of the carnage. He gets to live, and grow, and maybe finally put down his gun and write a book or something, and that's important. We all need a character to remind us that as long as you're alive, there's hope.

Nomi, James Bond

I love her, your honor. If there's one thing the last film got right, it was having three women of color, none of whom had the slightest inclination to fuck Bond, and of the three of them, Nomi is my favorite. I love that she's the new 007. I love that she's there to drag Bond's ass and warn him off her assignment. I love her "Double-0 what?" and I love her "I'll shoot you in the knee. The one that works." I love that she gets to murder racists, and I love that she's got fully as much style as any other 007.

The dadliness of COURSE it's the dadliness. The general idea of how loyal to a fault he is, that he dedicated his life to taking care of this boy he cared for so much, and his family growing in turn, I just cry. I have so many emotions about how underrated Alfred's angle in the whole found family thing is - PLUS I think he has so much potential for emotionally resonate backstory and parallels with Bruce because of that. Do not test me I will break into DC and MAKE THEM let me rewrite Alfred's backstory

Predictably from the last thing I hate it when he gets written as too stuck up to the point of fucking Bruce up even more as a child. Generally the idea of not allowing Bruce to be a kid when he's lost so much just makes me really sad, and I hate any timelines that involve Alfred OR Bruce hitting the batkids in any context :( listen I'm just a big baby I'm hear for camp not abusive family dynamics

Oh my god so many. Him and any of the batkids - all of them have excellent dynamics, Dickie literally calling Alfred his best friend is my favorite thing. And of course I love him and Bruce's dynamic, these fuckers have had 1 (one) friend (each other) for going on two decades they are a bizarre little pair. Pure same guy syndrome I love it. Also of course Martha Kent!!!! I <3 want <3 them <3 to <3 be <3 best <3 friends !!! They go on vacation together, they gossip about love triangles in the league, they share casserole recipes, they kick ass. Adore them.

He was very excited when girls started joining the batfamily (and when dick had a more adventurous sense of style than Bruce). He wears the same thing every day but his kids will look good dammit

As funny as it can be (That "I raised a man too soft hearted for this world, luckily my mother can't say the same" post always makes me HOWL) , I really hate the whole 'alfred likes guns' thing. IDK, at least to me he'd have similar hang ups about it as Bruce, his best friends and his child's parents were killed my gun violence, I just can't see him staying into them. I like him better with swords

Hmmmmm Happy Days are Here Again, especially with this montage from the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The end of this song gives me panic attacks in a good way <3 it's nostalgic and beautiful but also like. Very scary and urgent. Since I associate it with this scene it always gives me those panicked vibes of life getting increasingly more fucked up, like per say, starting as a butler for a loving idealic family, having them get murdered in front of their son, and ending with 9 vigilants on your hands

Tagged by @kaiasky here to post five songs I actually listen to (which, I agree, is a very funny challenge name). I don't really have anyone I can tag, so I'm happy for (and encourage) anyone to continue the chain :)

MCR - This Is How I Disappear - I love this song; it's dramatic, dark and moody while having extremely addictive instrumentation (I'm still shook every time I hear the tambourine come in). I also find the lyrics really interesting. The whole Black Parade album is about a cancer patient coming to terms with their death and this song particularly focuses on the idea of being forgotten eventually, which is so ouch, but wonderfully cathartic. Alternatively, without that context, it's like the most dramatic breakup song you've ever heard lol.

TK from Ling Tosite Sigure - First Death - So, the best way I can describe this song is it makes me feel a very similar kind of way to 'This Is How I Disappear' haha. Of course, this song is a Chainsaw Man ED and the lyrics are pretty specifically tailored to the preceding events in the anime (which I won't spoil here, but they seem to reflect the inner thinkings of a certain character during a certain event). It's energetic and cathartic, with falsetto tones that remind me of ghosts which is so unique.

Takuto - All Categorise - This is ED for Young Black Jack and previously my alarm for several years. Why? Because I think it's a pretty uplifting and cute song, really gets me energised! The lyrics fit well with Black Jack as a character in the series: he's fairly idealistic, but the world is pretty strongly against him. That said, ultimately, he's pretty dead-set on becoming a doctor to help people. The lyrics of the songs itself, as far as I can tell, seem to be about trying to see the bright side of things and appreciate the beauty in life, even where it's hard to find.

Rie Fu - Life is Like a Boat - AKA my current alarm... I feel like I don't need to elaborate much with Rukia in my pfp here, but I just think this is a beautiful song and so nostalgic for me. It was probably also the first song I heard that combines English and Japanese verses, which I think it super unique. I don't have too much to say about the lyrics, but they certainly tug at the heartstrings... Idk, I just love it, it makes me want to start rhythmically waving my lighter in the air (a terrible idea for someone just waking up lmfao).

Ghost - Square Hammer - My friend really fucking loves Ghost and I absolutely do get it, their songs scratch a specific kind of itch. I kind of feel like this is how people in the 80's must have felt listening to 80's music drop (if that makes any kind of sense :')). Anyway, this is one of their songs that's made its way into my playlists because I just find it so easy to listen to (this is a good thing). I also like how, from an engineering perspective, the lyrics are absolutely asking the correct questions (sorry 😂).

sooo i finally finished sonic unleashed. the main story parts, anyway. there's still a bunch of act 2 and act 3 stages i still have to do but from what i've seen, they're way shorter than their act 1 counterparts so it's fine. some junk thoughts below about this game!

now that i finally have a ps3 i'v been catching up on a bunch of games i missed out on when i only had the wii :y when i first started playing this game i was like wow, this isn't really that bad compared to what i had been hearing online about it! sure the werehog portions were kind of tedious sometimes, and the fact that they're twice or three times as long as the daylight sections isn't great, but i mean sonic adventure 2's eggman stages sure were slower and more tedious than the sonic/shadow stages, so i was like eh sure, fine, whatever. some of the later werehog stages were a pain and fighting the same type of enemies over and over was really starting to get on my nerves, but again, is this any different than the slow stages of eggman/tails in sa2? if i was able to A-rank all of their missions, then getting through the werehog stages isn't the worst. some of the platforming sections were actually entertaining but yeah, the fighting? not so much.

the daylight stages are hella fun to play through, although i don't know if it's the ps3 version but they seemed very ummm glitchy at parts, and the frame rate would slow waaaay down in certain portions of stages too. it obviously isn't as smooth as i would have wanted, but that was kind of my experience playing through sonic generations. i'm playing with a fat ps3 so i don't know if the experience is better in the slim version lol, but yeah, i'd love to come back to it eventually and try to S rank the stages since they're so fast-paced and just a blast to do. i don't think i'll ever bother getting all of the medals and 100% completing it since this game is just PACKED with content. on top of getting the medals, S-ranking, and the sidequests you get in the hub world, apparently there's hot dog missions too?? oh and there's DLC on top of that. so yeah, i'm ok with not 100% this like i did with sa2 or colors or generations lol. teenage me would have loved to do it though.

sonic games might not be your cup of tea but the music never disappoints. i had heard the unleashed OST way before ever playing the game and man, it was so good to finally hear the music along with the game. while i was out trying to collect enough medals to unlock the stages i don't know why but hearing the apotos night theme made me get all sentimental and nostalgic lol even though i didn't even grow up with this game at all. idk i guess it's just something about sonic games and their music that always hits home.

i know in my last post i was extremely pissed off at the last stage in unleashed and i said it brought the game down to a 5/10, but maybe i was a bit harsh lol. like i still think that level is atrocious EVEN FOR a last level, which you always know it's going to be a harder-than-usual level. but seriously that level design was just ridiculously long and stupid in every shape or form--the part that pissed me off the most was when you have to walk on these pipes as a werehog and in some parts you have to jump, but when you jump sometimes the fucking camera changes directions so because you're tilting the control stick a certain way, that would cause you to fall off the pipe and die. seriously, i don't think i've ever played a last stage in a sonic game that was as bad as eggmanland, so it's always interesting to see the comments on the youtubes defending the stage and how it's actually a great level. like ok sure lol.

i still say that the game forcing you to collect a ridiculous amount of medals to unlock stages was just not necessary. i thought i was doing a pretty good job at collecting them but i still had to look up guides to unlock the stages from chuu-nan onwards. like, just let me play the stages and get through the story, maybe make the act 2 and act 3 harder to unlock that way but not the main ones!

i actually have the wii version of unleashed that i had bought waaay back when but i never bothered to finish it once i learned that the stages are like watered down versions of the ps3/xbox360 ones, so i'm glad i waited to play it how it was meant to be played. the wii one also doesn't have the hub worlds i don't think, which i mean the hub worlds are actually pretty bad and add nothing to it gameplay wise: they will never be station square or mystic ruins. the way the camera moves around them is actually pretty bad and would make me feel dizzy at times lol. but still, i'm glad they exist because otherwise, we would have never gotten the absolutely gorgeous music that the night stages have (spagonia night theme is absolutely lovely and holoska night is the perfect listen for winter time).

overall, i'm glad i finally got a chance to play unleashed and see how this was the start of the sonic team getting the 3D sonic formula right (minus that terrible drifting mechanism, sorry!). generations is still one of my ultimate faves and frontiers brought back the sonic fever in me, so i'm excited to catch up on the rest of the 3d sonic games i missed out due to me being either a poor college student or poor fresh out of college lol. i'm thinking about buying sonic boom next, it looks very platform-y from the gameplay i've seen of it, so yeah! full on sonic mode and loving it!!

And I'm not too good on long trips. But it would be nice to see family and to get to see where my grandparents came from and learn more about the culture. And I wouldn't say no to exploring the beaches.

Something I Want: To finish my gosh darn novel. It's been so many years in the making. I had to split it into 2 novels, but I just wanna finish the first this year, darn it D,:. Also, to be an x-man. I want super speed or time manipulation so bad.
