from what i've come to understand it, things like 'emocore' and 'scenecore' are like the kids new way of playing w/ old emo / scene aesthetics. it's like emo/scene aesthetics rlly emphasised w/ the addition of new cultural stuff too that the kids like to make it like.....not a /parody/ of the culture but like the culture watered down to its aesthetics and then those aesthetics turned to 1000? if that makes sense. Its very much based on the AESTHETICS of those subcultures rather than any ACTUAL cutlure that they used to hold. I still think its fun tho. im glad the kids are still being weird and having fun w/ it all :3

Mannn. Honestly all of owen's new life videos have been pretty good. I do however dislike the direction that Sparrow's character went in as i do not think that Sparrow was originally meant to be a tragic character? Sparrow was all about discovery and invention and that felt very lost towards the end of the series.

I wanted sparrow to learn how he was 'wrong about his perceptions of hybrids (although not even im fully sure what exactly that means) and his worries didnt feel conclusive (being afraid of not being "hybrid" enough? He had never mentioned that worry before) and although he does loose touch on himself i feel that him sealing himself away in his tomb wasn't really what i was expecting? Like i thought overall the tone would be a little bit happier and more about discovery and uniqueness like at the start of the series but that just completely dropped off.

Honestly i think instead of the ending being "sparrow murders his friends and rebents by locking himself in a place where he is not happy, is at risk and is not his true self even though its for a noble cause" i think it would have been really cool to see Sparrow choose to be human again as a nice way to tie it all back to the start of the series and feel satisfying.

Honestly i would have liked him use the machine MORE and to still choose to be himself rather than the skulk spreading storyline but idk. Id also would have liked there to be more connection to the theme of friends

Because ALL throughout new life Sparrow focuses on making friends. Heck even in the ending animatic it shows his friends so that link is definetly still there, but it feels odd that it ends in Sparrow murdering two of his friends (sausage, who he got closer to although maybe not friends as such and Scott, who was his best friend).

Also wait how come he wrote in a book at the end instead of recording it with the camera? Wouldnt it have made more sense to record it into the thing that has been showing the whole adventure rather than a book that has no relation to the story ? Lol. The animatic was awesome however

The dsmp needed to end, stories just work like that, but also it didn't need to be bulldozed in the progress.

Why a reset ending is so cheap in this situation, is because it makes all that the story go through and characters just ...void. and that just does not sit right.

Like I could go one theorising about why they decided to end it like that, but I won't ...cos fuck that.

It sucked, it was a shitty ending, and honestly I thank cc like Wilbur, philza, Niki, sorta Ranboo and even fucking- ConnerEatsPants ...for giving their characters a semi satisfying end in comparison.

For my own sanity cDream is dead, and cclingyduo are off somewhere safe living their lives and shit.

I just look forward to cc from the dsmp branching out from it, telling new stories in different worlds. Or fuck it ...making completely different content all together.

The dsmp ..or at least season one will forever be so fucking important to me, I still loved it and will continue to think and draw the characters as much as that still gives me enjoyment, this isn't me saying I'm 'leaving the fandom' or whatever.

You're talking to a guy who was making content for six years straight after undertale came out, just cos something concluded doesn't mean you can't make and enjoy content from it.

weezer's gay allegations: a rant

i was browsing through the weezer subreddit the other day and noticed the 'is brian gay?' post got deleted. from what i get most of these silly posts would get kept so idk why this one specifically got deleted. im not sure ab how much brian interacts with his fans (given his vibe id think itd be almost him looking him and his bandmates up to see what ppl are saying ab him, esp since i heard people had been told to delete posts that had memes ab him being a nonce (which is honestly fair enough bc that could be on the border of spreading misinformation/slander) but idrk). either way, it seems like either brian, someone close to brian, or someone high up on the official weezer fanclub/'fandom' really does not like the gay allegations surrounding him.

if that is the case tho, i am kinda torn on how to approach this.

on one hand, as a weezer fan with a queer identity, even though i know that all of the members are probably cishet, it is still fun to joke about these things. or even just speculation, though logically i know it is likely to be false, its still comforting for me to already see this male figure i look up to, and then to further serve as inspiration to myself, somewhat project my queerness onto him. furthermore, to me at least, his actual sexuality (ignoring my projecting) does not play a role in how i perceive him. to me all of these gay allegations are just harmless jokes, i don't really take them seriously, especially since that's his private life and stuff.

on the other hand though, regardless of what his sexuality actually is, those allegations could have quite dodgy implications, considering there are people in the world, and heck even in a fanbase as queer and nd as weezer, who aren't very accepting of queerness. the way I see it is, if the gay allegations spiral out of control there are two possible outcomes:

brian is not gay, or queer in any way. regardless, he continues to be harassed about his sexuality by people who don't believe him. he will never beat the gay allegations. people will always be constantly doubting him regarding his identity, and i can imagine that would cause a lot of stress. or it could be...

brian is gay (or at least some variant of queer) and is outed against his will.

neither of these options are particularly pleasant. the key thing tho is those outcomes rest on the condition that the gay allegations do get out of control. firstly i just want everyone to kind of realise that public figures, just like everybody else are entitled to privacy, especially regarding their sexuality. secondly, while i think that simply making gay allegation jokes isn't necessarily inherently harmful, esp in the context of queer people looking up to public figures, we should still all be well aware that it is just a joke and nothing more. it would also be nice if some of the other members who are the target of these allegations had a sense of humour and played along with the jokes. i mean, this is something rivers already kinda does with his zesty bit, and i fucking love it - i think its hilarious and i also appreciate how hes able to interact with fans and also 'make fun' of himself without being too self-conscious. and it would be rlly cool if we could have a similar level of fan interaction (within appropriate boundaries) from other members too.

anyways idk if that made a lick of sense but yeah, what are y'alls thoughts on this.
