im sorry but your hole opinions are wrong

i think in general you're right about a tunnel having one hole; I think it's the most consistent definition and probably if you're worried abt like physics or something that is the most helpful way to conceptualize it. but this Specifically Right Now is a linguistics question. and I think the primary question really lies in whether or not someone is considering a hole to be an open end or the entire tunnel.

I'd also like to argue though that sometimes it's more helpful to describe tunnels with two open ends as having two holes, in the event you need to distinguish them from a tunnel with one open end and one closed end. Like a sock for example; if you got a hole in the toe of your sock, sure that's not a tube that could constitute a single, continuous hole, but it's not really helpful linguistically to say your sock originally had one hole, but now has One hole.
