Hvis du ønsker å forstå Norge, må du se på naturen. Den er et speil av det norske sinn.
- Henrik Ibsen
If you want to understand Norway, you must look at nature. It is a mirror of the Norwegian mind.

how did the annoying people (me) sleep after the reviews of An Enemy of The People came out and they were all positive, each mentioning how Jeremy Strong is one of the greatest actors of our time?

“You never loved me. You’ve thought it fun to be in love with me, that’s all.”

Of course, the one time I meet Jessica Chastain I turn into an awkward nerd (to be fair, "awkward nerd" is my default). I got so shy telling her how she managed to pull a whole range of emotions from me with her performance. But she was nice about it, even when I did a ridiculous fist pump to emphasize the moment Nora left Torvald.

Here's the whole theater singing Happy Birthday for her (excuse my horrible singing and video skills):

was today years old when i discovered that henrik ibsen apparently wrote a parody of norma???
(unfortunately it does not seem to be available in translation but here it is if you want to read the original)
(edited bc i’m actually not sure if it was in danish or not; that’s just what the apple translate told me when it said it couldn’t translate the page online)

While trying to learn a language by translating a play word by word is definitely a bad idea I'm nevertheless tempted to do just that. Not bc I think I will actually learn anything but bc it seems like a big riddle you can solve. There's a lot you can gather from context and knowing how languages work (especially if you already speak one from the same family) but also just enough hard bits to chew on. If Tom and Esme hadn't said they were attempting to learn Norwegian I would've bet it was just an interesting puzzle for them.
Anyway, since you already kinda sorta spoiled the plot do you have another play you can recommend for this? :3c
@theoriginalcarnivorousmuffin, look what we've started.
If you want Ibsen then here is a collection. It contains Doll House (Et dukkehjem). Ghosts (Gjengangere), Enemy of the People (En folkefiende.), The Wild Duck (Vildanden), and Rosmersholm (Rosmersholm).

after watching two ingmar bergman movies in the past week (cries and whispers and autumn sonata) and after revising critical reception for ibsen's a doll's house (for my english literature a level) in the past week, i can strongly say i did not expect to come across ingmar bergman calling torvald helmer "a very nice man, very reliable", after adapting the fucking play in 1981

National Anthem of the Kingdom of Norway (We love this country)
youtube
This national anthem is moist and feels like a hymn. However, when the time comes, they are full of determination and strong determination to protect their homeland. This country is also famous for producing celebrities in various fields. Abel in mathematics, Grieg in music, Munch in painting, and Ibsen in drama. A shining northern country.
