Just got myself to read a spoiler accidentally of The Summer I Turned Pretty and found out that Jeremiah Fisher turns out to be a frat boy in the third book and you want me to believe that this boy who was the most supportive of Belly's choices throughout the summer and cared for everyone around him decided to give away all of his morals and cheat on her?! Like c'mon he was so sweet throughout the first two books and then JH turns him to be some nightmarish toxic guy and I won't believe it. This character development is unbelievable, it feels more like the author didn't find any flaws in him in order for Belly to choose Conrad and she just made Jeremiah the flaw and I'm team Jere from the very beginning and book 3 doesn't exist for me and if s3 gets a similar ending with Jeremiah as the problem than I'm gonna plainly ignore it exists.

Cruel Summer: The Summer Regulus turn pretty - teaser.

The salty fresh smell swirls in a perfect dance into Regulus nostrils. The breeze awakened the goosebumps on his arms, and he rubbed them to keep the hairs in bay. He glanced up at the home that carries more memories than the box underneath his bed. He was home, the closest to a real home. He was finally back at Cousins Beach. He let himself be embraced by the glaring sun already leaving faint red marks on his vampire skin. He was home. 

“If it isn’t my favorite people in the whole world” Regulus glanced over at the voice, smiling wide and watching as his uncle, Alphard, got embraced to the warmth that was Euphemia Potter. 

“Darling, it’s been too long. We really should be catching up on tea between seasons.” Alphard scowled her jokingly.

Euphemia laughed, “We should have, it’s a shame that we only meet during the summer lately. I miss you.” she replied, with a gentle push. 

“Where is James?” Sirius complained, grinning. 

Almost in cue James walked out, running a hand through his hair. “I’m here, you drama queen.” they replied, immediately wrapping his arms around Sirius and squeezing them. 

“I am dramatic, It’s been torture without you this year.” Sirius complained, dramatically falling on James' arms. 

Regulus watched the interaction, with amusement written on his face - looking discreetly around. 

“Damn, Regulus.” James exclaimed, wiggling his eyebrows. “You got hot.” 

“Gross, please don’t say that about my brother.” Sirius complained. 

James chuckled, winking at him. “He did, Reg is about to break hearts this summer.” 

“Oh shut up.” Regulus rolled his eyes, but not being able to help himself and smiling. It was no secret that he finally switched his glasses to contacts, and braces finally removed. So, yes, he agreed he was damn hot.

Regulus glanced away from them, and it felt like time suddenly became a cliche slow motion movie as he watched an irritated Barty come out from the back door fixing his hoodie. When Barty suddenly looked up and their eyes met, Regulus felt his breath hitch and his mouth became dry as he walked closer to him.

Barty glanced at him, slowly scanning his face and making him wanna crawl out of his skin, as the record player shattered when he spoked. “I liked you better with your glasses.” 

“I-..” Regulus began stunned, and immediately composed himself, rolling his shoulders back. “Well I like myself better without them.”

When you think about it though, Belly chose herself. She didn't really choose Jere, she chose to not waste her time on Conrad anymore.

Belly wanted to start fresh and have a new life and she had to let Conrad go to do that. She just had pictured the future with her and Jere in college and chalked that up to her wanting to be with him.

She's living her life and trying to find her way while Jere is watching her from the sidelines. Like he's there but he's not really a part of it.

I had thought for a split second there that Belly was gonna outwardly choose herself and I really wish she did. She wants to find herself as a person and jumping right into a relationship with Jere is definitely not the right way to do it. I get the feeling they'll grow apart very soon because they're both still growing up.

Last, last, last thing for the night/the show so far:

I'm reading a lot about how Jeremiah is an asshole for how he treats Conrad and that Belly romanticized him staying with her when she had a summer cold in the flashback.

A) Jeremiah is 17, maybe 18 years old and was living with Susannah when she died, while Conrad was away at school. Not to say Conrad didn't also have a ton to deal with from that, but I can totally see Jeremiah's point of view of always having to pretend things don't bother him (which he told Belly during the tire scene- don't even get me started on him being rude that day because he literally thought something terrible had happened to his brother). The same way we all permit Conrad to be a pouty little asshole, don't you think Jeremiah should be awarded the same grace? Also, of course he's competitive with Conrad- if we're taking what he's saying at face value, he's been in love with Belly and watched her moon over his brother all this time. Duh, he's got a chip on his shoulder! And double duh if he was a bit promiscuous, he didn't think he stood a chance with Belly, and!! We haven't seen the book 3 incident (no spoilers) yet, so we can't exactly hold TV Jeremiah responsible for that right now.

B) Susannah asked him to spend the afternoon with Belly, he willingly stayed with her all week, and did it happily. No kid wants to stay in on a summer day, but he BARELY put up a fight about it, be so serious.

It's the same as on her birthday. He sees that Belly is disappointed that Conrad didn't get a present and offers to give her a driving lesson to go pick up Taylor. In what world is Jeremiah the one who should be teaching her? She's got a mom, dad, brother, even Susannah or Conrad would make more sense than someone who's maybe had his license a year. He enjoys spending time with her, flat out.

Great question!

Similar to my opinion with the long-held Ross/Rachel "We were on a break" debate, for me, it doesn't actually matter if the technicalities of the situation "proved" that a couple was on a break or not. The point was there was huge miscommunication and deeply hurt feelings. That doesn't go away even if there was an "objectively correct" version of the event.

As for any situation, I would need some more context on how the show would handle this scenario because I personally don't see Jere hooking up with anyone that quickly post-break up, not even in a self-destructive way. So for me to wonder if I would be okay with it is really dependent on if the situation was believable in the first place.

BUT at the end of the day, if Jelly were endgame even after that low point in their relationship, it would signify that their communication skills and conflict resolution skills have triumphed once again and they were able to make it work with both partners owning up to their mistakes and finding a way to move forward that makes both of them comfortable. So I guess I would be okay?

I know this isn't the straightforward answer you were probably looking for but I really can't say much on it if I don't know how the writers are going to handle it lol sorry.

I know Conrad told Cleveland she's always been a little kid and now she's not but y'all took that way too literally. my mans went and bought her the infinity necklace for her birthday at the beginning of the summer (bc her birthday is before July 4th), maybe even before the beginning of the show. He bought her the infinity necklace prior to all of the moments they shared in the show, before the almost kiss, before Cam, before the jealousy, before the drama.
