Three years later (Benfica, Group stage, 2018) :

Robert hadn't scored for three consecutive games (omg 😱), with both Bayern and the nt team, and during the first part of this match he wasn't in it, he was walking and not making any efforts. Robben scored the opening goal and then this second one. Robert was free but Arjen chose to go for it and Lewy, instead of celebrating the goal, complained about it. So, Thomas, instead of running with Robben toward the other side of the pitch, went strength to Robert to tell him to get his shit together.

And it worked because, six minutes later Robert was scoring a first goal and soon after the pause he scored a second one which he celebrated like that and I always thought that it was a sort of homage to Thomas.

January 18, 2024. Sandhill Crane Flyby!!

I live at the VERY edge of a Sandhill Crane migration route, and I saw a flock of at least 40 flying southwest today at 3:52PM! I haven't seen any in a couple years, and this is the biggest group I've spotted. Usually I catch them with their strung-together rattle calls, but these guys were pretty quiet (just a couple brief rattles today, which was thankfully still enough to make me look up through the trees!). Allegedly it was 28ºF today but felt like 21°F--I hope they were staying warm up there. Safe travels, friends!!
