Redbubble Shop Update - 2024

Hey ho, everyone!

So, a long time ago, in 2021, I set up a little Redbubble shop, but didn't really go far with it. I just let it sit there while trying to put my life back into place.

And after all those years, someone actually bought a sticker and that made me so happy :3

Since I'm taking some time off for myself and, again, to get life back on track, I figured why not revamp my little shop. Who knows, maybe this time I can work more on my art and put some nice things in there ^^

Because of that, I'll be taking down some artworks and replacing for others and such.

I'll be travelling from next week until next month, so I'll probably start the whole revamp process in February - that being said the arts available now will be there until February.

I'll be taking down my two DMC artworks:

And my RPD Leon artwork (I'll put Carlos' alongside this one 'cause I don't want HUGE Leon breaking the text, forgive my little organization thing hahahaha):

The reason why I'll be taking them down, it's because since then my art changed a LOT, I changed my signature and all that, so I want to replace them with more recent art.

This post is just to tell you guys that, if you want to buy some stickers of said old artworks, they'll be available there until February! I think there's a Holiday sale, so it's a good time to do so :)

(I have only stickers listed, if I'm not wrong, but if you'd like something else with the artwork, feel free to message me and I'll list it there - though I think that'll be highly unlikely ^^)

WHY THE TMS MERCH STORE HAS BEEN ON HIATUS FOR SO LONG + WHEN TO EXPECT ITS RELAUNCH

Wanted to be transparent with people since I know some are out there who've been waiting for the TMS merch store to come back for awhile. This will be a long post, so look at the red text for the key points in case you wanted to know something specific.

Q: Why did you take it down in the first place?

A: I was using Teespring (Which I'll refer to as Spring as that's what they rebranded to,) and it's quality, in my opinion, was BAD. I did not do research before choosing them as a POD service. I've had people who have ordered who told me their apparel DISINTEGRATED after barely any washes. I own a sample from them, and I can confirm. While their shirt and print quality is decent at first glance, after washing your apparel, the print will soon begin to disintegrate. I'm not sure a better way to illustrate this with text, but it reminds me of those Thanos Snap "I don't feel so good" memes from a couple years ago. Yeah, it looks like THAT after washing. Not to mention, their payment process is shady. I know 100% that some people placed orders, as they had shown proof, and it did not show up in the dashboard. I wasn't worried about making money off of it at the time, because I just wanted to provide people with merch of their favorite characters, but there was no excuse for this.

Q: Why don't you use a service like Redbubble or something else?

A: While it is true that there's lots of other options available for POD merch creation with built-in storefronts, I took the hiatus to do research, as well as included past experiences I've had with other services to support my decision— (which I'll state further down below—) and Redbubble's quality is also not good in my opinion. I've owned shirts from them before and they have a weird sticky feeling to the print that I don't like, it's not very appealing in my opinion. But this isn't only about Redbubble, other merch services I've come across don't have the quality as the issue, they have the PRICE as the issue. I am not about to make ANYONE pay $40 for a damn T-shirt even if it lasts longer than the other services. TLDR for this: It's always a mix of services having bad quality, too little options, or being way too pricy.

Q: So what are you going to do now? It looks like they all aren't for you.

A: I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to have to run my own store. No, I won't have all of the stock on me. There will be a few items that I'm responsible for packaging on my own, but the majority will not be shipped by me. I have to use POD services that do not have built in store fronts, which means that I have to import your order to them before they create it. This is unlike POD services with built-in storefronts, which handle everything themselves and (are supposed to) pay me after you receive your order. So this means going forward it will be more hands on for me. I've been working on building my own store for a few months now, and the pieces are finally falling into place, so I'm excited for what's to come. :)

However, there has been a bit of a roadblock.

I was really close to being able to do a soft-launch of the new TMS merch store, but unfortunately I'm unable to do so. Why? Because I went to create a Paypal business account specifically for TMS funding (to better keep track of funds that will get put back into the production and seperate everything from my personal expenses,) and when I created the account I got flagged as 'being under 18' when I'm 20 years old and my ID clearly indicated such. After repetitively getting put on hold by Paypal customer service I was told "It is just a generic email, YOU actually need to be 21 because you live in Mississippi." ...Which is ridiculous in all honesty. Through this Paypal adventure I learned that there are only 3 US states where the age of majority is not 18, and I just so happen to live in the state with the highest age of majority. ...Great. At the very least, I turn 21 in a few months, only then will I be able to link the account to the store.

As for a launch date, I do not have an exact date, but I have a rough, definitive one...

Expect the TMS merch store to re-launch sometime early 2024!

(Plushes will also move from Ko-Fi to the new site when it launches.)

Have you ever considered putting your art on redbubble to buy prints / stickers of ur art :0?

I've definitely considered doing prints, but converting my drawings to CMYK messes up my colors a lot 🥲 so I might draw some pieces specifically for that purpose, but otherwise I'm in the midst of working on stickers :D

I already have a shop on bigcartel, hopefully I'll get merch like that up soon!

The war between Atlas and Malian soon ended due to Katagawa growing tired of fighting for something he wasn't going to get. Well, that and the fact his Zer0 tech malfunctioned on him and seriously injured him.

He pulled out of the war when he was once again conscience and thank whatever God's there may be that he survived. I'm not sure what I would've done with him not there. He's a bit of a spoiled brat to everyone else and acts like the typical big corporation asshole to them but to me, he's an absolute sweetheart.

If he died that day I would have lost my entire world.

Of course Katagawa soon got back to work... Oh no! Not work as in Maliwan!

His work on keeping our relationship being perfect. It's something of a goal in life to him for everything he does to be perfect. He never wants us to split up and he's become a bit too clingy recently. With the near death experience though, I can understand why.

"Kat! Where are you?" I shout into the hallway of our shared home. There's a faint groan from the bedroom. It's faint right now but it's there.

I walk to the room and open the door to find Katagawa on the floor reaching for the crutch I placed across the room. He was concentrating so hard on getting said item he didn't seem to realise that I had come home.

"Need some help?" The man in front of me jumps slightly out of shock and he looks up to meet my eyes. He sighs and makes a gesture for me to help him up.

I lift his somewhat frail body up and place him on the bed again. I grab the crutch and go and sit next to him. "why were you one the floor?" I lean my head on his shoulder.

His eyes are trained on the floor as he lets me lean on him.

"I wanted to do something for you but you put this," He waved the crutch slightly " too far for me to reach"

"why would I need anything from you right now? You're healing and it's my turn to look after the big shot company man" I rub his back as he now begins to lean into me instead.

"I realised how much I lost, and how much I could've lost in that war," He paused and turned to face me " I lost the Zanara, I ordered the murder of my own family and if I let it go on longer. I could have lost you"

He pulls his ECHO into his hands and shows me a picture of me and him sat on one of our earliest dates in one of the Zanara's cat cafés. This was long before the war and a few months after I began to work for Malian. Well it wasn't originally a date more of a way for Kat to be a friend rather than a boss, until we became official at least.

Simpler times.

Flash back*

"L/n, you will be coming with me to the Zanara. Tha-"

"That's your pleasure yacht, yes I know sir." I sigh. This may have bin the thirtieth time he's told me and as nice as his voice is, I could care less about the Zanara.

"Lose the attitude please. A new Cat café is opening and you will come with me to see the opening of it." He turns his back and looks back over his shoulder slightly to say, "wear something casual."

I didn't get to properly answer I just nodded even while he was out the door. I wonder if he's a cat person, he does strike me as that person. You know, evil and cute.

He could've asked any other person, he practically has the best eye candy he could have picked from with him being rich and all and yet he picks me.

Of course I'm grateful beyond belief, but could it be because he's lonely?

*Time Skip to 11:48*

"Hello Sir." even though he told me to dress casually this is still part of my job to attend events but despite this, I see none of the other visitors of the Zanara anywhere near this café.

Katagawa Jr's back is turned to mine but he greets me with a slight nod of respect. The person who has been placed in charge of the café opens the door with a large, warm welcome to the two of us as we are the only guests here.

Katagawa walks to a booth in the corner, the f/c walls being a slightly faded version of the colour. He finally faces me as he goes to sit.

His eyes widen as he actually takes in my appearance.

"You look.. Well.. You look good." He finishes after clearly struggling to find the correct words. "If I look good then the people around me must look good too." He scoffs and turns like the spoiled brat he is.

*End of Flashback

"Katagawa, before we were a thing I took care of myself pretty well. I don't need you to look after me." we hold one another as we remember the favourite parts of our past.

"Just as long as you are with me, we'll both be fine"

Went to the town for another laser removal session and to book myself in so I can get my Richie and Eddie from Bottom tattoo but it was FUCKING CLOSED! ON A MONDAY!!! Why? Why specifically on a Monday do these guys decide to have as their day off? Do they have children that they only put in school once a day? "Well he’s done a bit of PE and half a Biology lesson that’ll do". This was a major kick in the stones because I was so keen to get this booked and have been ever since I saw the design on that t-shirt from Redbubble last month but I'll just have to pop over tomorrow instead. It wasn't a complete waste as I'd also taken some of the shit books I've read as part of my Edgar challenge to give to the charity shop (and because Live By Night and Let Me Die In His Footsteps are so shit I imagine I'll be seeing them in that same charity shop for many decades to come). Speaking of the Edgar Challenge as soon as I got back I started reading the next novel in the series: Before The Fall by Noah Hawley. The opening chapter immediately assuaged my concerns that this was going to be another dud as it features a plane crash and the only adult survivor swimming eight miles with a broken arm in order to rescue a child who is the only other survivor of the wreck. I'm so glad this one didn't start with a description of two family's hundred year feud over lavender like the last book in the fucking challenge did. Later on I re-watched Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey. Some say that this movie wasn't as well received as the original because it took it to a much darker place both in tone and story but I always use Evil Dead 2 as an example to back up the idea that if you're going to do a sequel to a movie you might as well try and make it as different as you can or else what's the point? I've never found either Bill and Ted movie to be that laugh out loud funny but the strength is more in the inventiveness of the plot and the likeability of the characters and this installment still has both. Weirdly the bit that did make me laugh out loud in this movie was a bit where Evil Bill mockingly repeats what real Bill’s girlfriend had just said while contorting his face. I don't know why but Alex Winter has an effortlessly comedic face and can get laughs by contorting it ever so slightly (kind of like Wilfred Brambell and Bruce Forsythe). There's also a moment at the end of the film where Rufus reveals he was dressed up as the boy's hot music teacher for the whole film. I wonder how many teenage veiwers at the time had to confront the realisation that the character theyd been jacking it to was actually a man….with a grey hair and beard.

UK Gov Still Hates Me, Even With A Job I Can't Afford To Live

So since I finally managed to find work DWP got in touch to check I'm still disabled and have limited capacity to work. Despite having more than enough evidence that my health has worsened in the past few years (e.g. finally having a diagnosis for endometriosis and the chronic pain/fatigue/fainting/vomiting it causes on a regular basis) and having employers outright tell me they won't hire me because of specific health conditions being a health and safety risk (e.g. dissociation and chronic pain) I've now been told that my health problems in no way affect my ability to work when that is clearly not the case (the only reason I knew they were phoning to discuss my health was because I was too ill to go to work that day!) As a result my benefit payment for this month is nothing because they're under the impression that working 27 hours a week on minimum wage is enough to live on (it really isn't).

Getting a second job locally is near impossible at the moment, let alone finding one I'm physically able to do. I've tried freelancing websites but I'm constantly priced out because of people on there selling services for only a couple pounds an hour. As a result I've put a couple of polls up here and here to ask about potentially selling some merch. I've had Redbubble up for a long time but only made one sale so if I can manage it and there's demand I'm gonna try making some physical merch to sell. I do have more designs to add but the transition to physically going out to work every day has taken a bigger toll on me than I thought it would, I'm spending most of my time outside of work sleeping and/or being sick so getting my fandom shit together is taking longer than expected. For that reason I'm also not feeling quite ready to take on commissions yet but am hoping to do so at some point soon if possible.

I've done my best to fill out the online form for affordable housing but the application process takes around 12 weeks and on average people with the highest priority need don't find accomodation for at least a year, people lower down on the list take even longer. I'm gonna attempt to find help this week for gathering all the evidence documents I need as well as fighting the DWP about my benefits case. Absolute worst case scenario is that I'll have to go stay at the local shelter if I can't get my funds up and find somewhere safe to go either when my mum moves or if the situation here escalates and becomes physically abusive again.

So redbubble are adding this tier system, which users have no real say in regarding where they end up, and taking more than half of artists' earnings if they have even a modicum of success. Why? Because, in their words, "over the past few years the amount of new accounts and content has increased significantly on our marketplace. This has resulted in increased costs as we’ve needed greater investment in resources to operate the marketplace and support our artist community and your customers."

Well, that's not going to be a problem for them much longer. They're going to lose a lot of genuine artists as a result of this. I'll more than likely be closing my own account soon. They'll likely try to put me in the standard tier anyway, I've had too many works removed, despite others shamelessly stealing art and selling it as their own, and not been active enough as it is if the odd "please come back" emails are anything to go by.

I was on my way home from work and I saw an UPS truck driving around twice, which made me excited cause my binder is being shipped with UPS, but when I got home I checked the order tracking thing and sadly no package today :( . and just now there was a knock on the door from a Purolator driver which I thought was strange cause it should be UPS but I was still happy to get my binder and then he was likE "SORRY I GOT THE NUMBER WRONG" so yeah the universe is teasing me and I don't like it
