A/N: I rewatched Heathers again and got this idea for a fic, and although I'm pretty convinced this is super crappy I figured I might as well put out some sort of content

"Ugh, this is so boring," you complained as you watched Veronica review over her notes in preparation for an upcoming test.

"It's math, it's not supposed to be exciting," she responded before flipping to another page.

JD chuckled, observing the two of you before pulling a cigarette from his coat and going to light it.

"Jason, you can't smoke in here!" You scolded as you snatched the cigarette from his mouth.

He frowned before picking up another one. "Why not?"

"Because this is my house, and if my parents find out they're going to be pissed. Now give me your lighter so you won't be tempted." You held your hand out, gesturing towards the lighter he was holding.

He let out a small laugh, assuming you were joking before he realized you weren't. "Aw, come on, you can't be serious."

"I very much am, unless you want to explain to my parents why their house smells like cigarette smoke. Now hand it over."

Veronica held back a laugh as she watched JD reluctantly give you his beloved lighter.

"Thank you, very much," you said as you tucked it into your backpack.

"Well, now I'm bored," JD commented.

"Maybe if you pulled out your textbook and studied for tomorrow's test you wouldn't be," Veronica suggested as she held up her book.

"I don't need to study, I'm sure I'll do fine," he said as he tapped his fingers on the table. "Man, I could really use a smoke right about now."

"See? He's taking the same test we are, why doesn't he have to study?" You asked as Veronica took your copy of the textbook out of your bag.

"Because he's a delinquent who gets himself in trouble on purpose, that's why," she said while handing it to you. "Here's your book, now study."

"This is lame," you mumbled as you sunk down low in your seat.

"Tell me about it. If I had known things were going to be this boring I would have found somebody to piss me off so I'd have an excuse to fake a suicide. At least that would excite me," he joked.

You laughed loudly before seeing the look of judgment on your girlfriend's face. "Ahem, I mean, that's not funny JD, shame on you," you fake lectured while he snorted at your antics.

Veronica playfully rolled her eyes before tapping on the textbook in front of you. "Study."

You crossed your arms over you chest and huffed. "But I don't wanna. Can't I just study later?"

"Study later- the test is tomorrow! How much time do you think you're going to have between now and then to study if you wait?"

You shrugged your shoulders, your boyfriend letting out an amused chuckle as you did so.

"I mean, she's not wrong," he pointed out.

"Oh, shut up JD, you have no room to talk," Veronica huffed, JD holding his hands up in surrender as she did so.

"Why is this so important to you?" You ask as you watch her furiously scribble in the margins of her textbook. "You've never been that much of a stickler when it comes to grades before, so why start now?"

"Because-" she sighed, setting down her pencil, "-when we graduate high school I'm probably going to move somewhere else to go to college, and I don't want you guys to get left behind. That's all."

You and JD shared a look. You'd never thought of it that way before. I mean, sure, Sherwood wasn't the worst place in the world, but it certainly wasn't the best either. The thought of you and JD getting stuck there, barely scraping to get by while Veronica was off seeing the world sent a shiver down your spine.

"Alright, fair enough." If it really meant that much Veronica that you study, then that's what you'd do.

Her face softened into a grateful smile, watching as you opened up your textbook to the notes page. She reached her hand across the table and set it down on yours, giving it a soft squeeze.

"Thanks, honey. I really appreciate it."

"Just know, I'm only doing this for you, okay? There's literally no one else in the world that could convince me to do math homework for them."

Veronica let out a small chuckle before turning her gaze to JD, who had stolen back his lighter and was casually smoking a cigarette.

"Jason!" You exclaimed, reaching over to snatch it from his mouth while Veronica laughed.

You look over at Heizou, whose head is still dead against the chill of his desk. He's been lying for some time now, and you almost feel bad for the guy. The boss Takayuki Kujou asked everyone to complete their daily expense reports. Usually, that wouldn't be an issue, but for Heizou, the reports took him about five minutes, and now it's two hours later, and he's bored as all hell.

You usually always have something to do as the office receptionist. Whether typing notes for meetings, answering phones, or organizing schedules for your boss. But at the moment, you're also accessible as a bird. Mainly because Mr. Kujou was out, and the office was left to the defacto leaders Kamaji and Sara, the office favorites. Kamaji is kind and thoughtful; Sara is straight-laced and hardworking. So, they're pretty well balanced. Way better than the head boss.

This whole train of thought stops when you see Heizou lift his chin up. His chin rests on the desk rather than his face. You see him glance around at the other employees, and then he fixes his gaze on you. You feel yourself get flustered, so you quickly wave at him. His desk sits about five feet away from yours, so this is a regular occurrence. He smiles at you, gets up from his desk, and walks over to you. He rests his arms on your desk as he speaks.

"Y/N, I am bored out of my mind," he pouts. "Are you doing anything interesting that I can help with?"

"Not really, I'm just passing the time," you tell him. You hear him groan.

"I'd thought for sure that you'd be doing something," he complains. You laugh.

"Sorry, what have you been doing this whole time?" you ask him even though you saw exactly what he was doing. He gives you a small smirk.

"Just passing the time," he answers, and you laugh again. "So, how do you suppose we really pass the time?"

"Aren't you supposed to be working on those reports?" you ask him playfully, and he chuckles while rolling his eyes.

"Yeah, those took me five minutes," he tells you.

"Heizou, if Sara finds out that you're not working, she'll be pissed," you remind him. Unfortunately, Heizou and Sara have never seen eye to eye.

"Yeah, I could really care less about that," he says. "Come on, let's do something. I'm dying here." You sigh deeply and look at the time. Only 1:30.

"Screw it, fine," you agree. He says a silent "yes!" "What do you have in mind?"

"I think we should play some games," he suggests.

"Seriously?" you ask.

"Yup," he affirms. "Come on." He grabs your hand, leads you from your desk, past all the other employees, and into the break room. You see Kamaji sitting at a table eating his lunch. He sees you and Heizou and gives you both a warm smile.

"Hello, Heizou and Y/N," Kamaji greets.

"Hello," you and Heizou both say. Then, before anything else, you whisper to Heizou.

"What is your game here?" you ask. Heizou leans in close to you to whisper his response.

"Whoever gets him to talk about his secret girlfriend from the Kanjou office first wins," his words dance in your ears from his closeness. The closeness makes you feel warm as Heizou sits beside Kamaji. So you decide to sit beside Kamaji as well on the other side.

"So, Kamaji," you start. "That lunch looks pretty good."

"Oh, it is," Kamaji agrees with you.

"I bet you were enjoying it with someone," you lead. "You know, a special someone." You see Heizou laugh to himself. Kamaji blushes at your comment.

"Wh-What? I have no special someone. What do you mean?" Kamaji denies your lead. You look at Heizou, who gives you faux pity.

"Well, you are amongst friends, Kamaji," Heizou says. Kamaji looks at Heizou happily.

"I am?" he asks.

"Of course," Heizou says.

"Guys, I...I am really am not seeing anyone," Kamaji says, trying to stop the prying.

"Really? That's good because I heard that one of Y/N's friends is interested in you at the Christmas party," Heizou fibs.

"Huh?" you and Kamaji both say. Heizou gives the play-along look.

"Uh, yeah, yeah," you agree.

"Oh, uh, well, I can't date your friend Y/N; I'm sorry," Kamaji stutters.

"How come? They really, really liked you, and you didn't think they were cute?" Heizou's really pushing now.

"Yeah, they were, but..." Kamaji hesitates.

"But what?" Heizou asks. Kamaji's blush becomes a deeper red.

"It's just...that..." Kamaji is really struggling.

"You know, I think we've made you uncomfortable," Heizou suddenly says. "Y/N and I respect your privacy. Come on, Y/N."

"Huh? Oh, yeah, right. Uh, bye, Kamaji," you both get up from the table and leave Kamaji.

When you're both alone again, you ask Heizou your burning question.

"Why did you just suddenly up and leave?" you ask Heizou.

"Well, he was getting upset so I think we should let him cool off before we try again don't you?" Heizou explains.

"Uh, I guess," you agree.

"Anyway, what's something else we can do?" Heizou wonders. "Oh, how about playing cards in the meeting room?"

"What? Won't we get in trouble?" you ask.

"Not if we put the blinds down on the windows leading into the room and put a sign up that says there's a meeting in progress," Heizou explains.

"I don't know," you say. If anyone were to catch you both, you would be in great trouble.

"Oh, come on. If anything happens, I'll take the fall," Heizou vows.

"I'm holding you to that," you tell him.

"You get some cards, and all take care of the meeting room," he says, and you separate to do your assigned jobs.

You look in your bag and find some playing cards and make a sign that reads "Meeting In Progress." You return to the meeting room to see the shades pulled down and ready for you. You place the sign on the door to the meeting room and open the door to find Heizou sitting waiting for you.

"You got them?" Heizou asks excitedly.

"Yup, right here," you show him the stack of cards and sit across from him. "What should we play?"

"Well, I'm a master at every game there is. Poker, Rummy, Blackjack, Crazy Eights, Kings in the Corner, you name it, I'm a master," Heizou boasts.

"Okay, well then, we will play War," you say.

"Huh? Why? That game is easy," Heizou gives you a confused look.

"Yeah, but it's luck based," you counter. "So, your mastery has little to no bearing." Heizou laughs a bit.

"Very clever, Y/N," he compliments.

"I know, I have my moments," you joke and begin to shuffle the cards. The object is simple just have a higher card than the other person, and you flip a card face down, so it's all based on chance. The perfect game to play against Heizou. And it's not mentally very taxing, so you and Heizou can talk as much as you want.

The game begins with Heizou placing a six down and you a ten. Next, you take both cards and put them into your pile. This process continues with the winner being chosen by chance.

After a bit, you both place down a seven meaning there is a war. Then, you both place three cards face down, and the fourth has to be the winning card.

"Come on, win this," you say to your card.

"Nervous I'll win? That's cute, Y/N," Heizou teases. You grow warm from his words.

"I'm not nervous," you say. "I know I'll win."

"Okay, I'll hold you to that," he copies your statement from earlier.

"Miss Sara, is there supposed to be a meeting today?" an employee asks while standing at Sara's desk.

"No, not that I know of," she says. "Why?"

"It's just that there is a meeting going on in the conference room with all the shades pulled down and a sign about there being a meeting," the employee explains.

"There shouldn't be a meeting in there," she says, getting up from her desk to see what the fuss is about. She walks up to the meeting room without knocking heads straight in.

You and Heizou stop and look at Sara with dumbfounded faces. She is clearly upset but tries to stay calm as she sees the playing cards on the table.

"What is going on here?" she asks. You and Heizou look at each other and try to find an excuse.

"We were just, uh," you can't think of something to say.

"Do you two think this is really a good way to spend company time?" Sara asks, and your face grows very sad and scared. Then, you become warm, but it's out of fear instead. "I should write you both up for this."

"Madam Sara," Heizou stops her. "Don't blame this on Y/N. I dragged them in here."

"Oh really?" Sara eyes Heizou, who nods.

"Yes, so please don't punish them," he pleads.

"Fine," she agrees and walks out. You sigh in relief.

"Thank you, Heizou," you say as you get from the table.

"Hey, I said I'd cover for you. I'm a man of my word," he says. You grab his hand and then kiss his cheek. His face grows red from your sudden boldness, but his flusteredness switches quickly into confidence. "Oh, Y/N, you missed." He cradles your cheeks and leans in to kiss your lips. You close your eyes, ready for the impact.

"EXCUSE ME!" Sara's voice rings in the meeting room, and you and Heizou quickly separate from one another. "Get back to work!"

"Yes, Madam Sara," you both say and follow her out. You both giggle as you're walking out and returning to your desks.

You sit back at the receptionist's desk while Heizou sits at his desk. You smile at each other as you try to find work for the rest of the day.

The day ends, and you finish organizing some folders as Heizou stalks up to your desk once again.

"It is 5:01, meaning I can be here talking to you," he says.

"That's true," you agree.

"So, Y/N, do you wanna maybe grab a drink or something?" he asks.

"Oh?" you ask. "Really?"

"Yeah, the truth is I'm pretty sure you're the only thing that fills my head these days," he admits. "I mean, you're the only one I'd spend time with when I'm bored." His words make you smile and feel warm.

"I would love to go out with you," you say.

"Oh! Before we go, I'm going to say something to Kamaji," Heizou says as if he just remembered something.

"Oh, okay," you say, and he goes over to Kamaji's desk, which finds itself on the other side of the office. Kamaji has his back turned to you as he talks on the phone with someone.

"Yeah, they almost got me to tell them everything," Kamaji says. "They're quite the pushy duo."

"It sounds like he's talking about us," you whisper to Heizou. Heizou nods as you both continue to listen.

"I know Chisato, dear, I won't, I know," Kamaji says. You and Heizou look at one another. Holy crap. Kamaji unknowingly spilled. "I love you, too. Goodbye." Kamaji turns around to see you and Heizou. Kamaji jumps in his seat and then looks defeated. "Please tell me you didn't hear that phone call." You cringe, and Heizou looks down at the ground, then back at Kamaji.

"Sorry," Heizou apologizes.

"Oh, great," Kamaji puts his hand on his forehead. "Can you guys keep this between us?"

"Yes, sir," you both agree.

"Thanks," Kamaji sighs. "What do you guys need from me?"

"Oh, just a relationship form," Heizou says. You and Kamaji look at Heizou, confused.

"What already?" you ask. Going out for drinks will be your first "date."

"Yeah, I like to be prepared," Heizou says. "And besides, I've wanted to take you out for a while now, so I want this to be a real relationship."

"Me too," you say.

"Well, I don't have the form with me right now, so—" Heizou cuts Kamaji off.

"That's alright," Heizou says, grabs your hand, and leads you away from Kamaji.

"I feel bad," Heizou says.

"Why?" you ask.

"Well, what I said about me and you was true, but I didn't need the relationship form. I just wanted to see if Kamaji was on the phone with his girlfriend," Heizou admits.

"What?" you ask.

"Yeah, so I'll buy him lunch tomorrow as an apology," Heizou continues. You laugh and shake your head.

"Heizou, you are a bad man," you playfully hit his arm.

"Hey, it was the only way I could gather the evidence," Heizou says. "And besides, that's not important to me right now. You are the most important thing right now, Y/N." You get warm again and squeeze his hand.

"You're paying for the first round because of your evil doings," you tell him.

"Alright, alright. I guess that's how I'll repent," he agrees.

Carrion Comfort

Episode thoughts dropping 2 days late because I was too busy having Emotions™️ and rewatching the episode? More likely than you'd think 💖🤣

Ugh, Carla.

Carla divorced Beau which means that he's not obligated to tell her anything or practice his "communication skills" with her 🙄 The entitlement is real. Truly canNOT stand this woman, she's so mean and passive aggressive and dismissive towards Beau, as well as condescending and rude towards Jenny 😒 She really came in and insulted both my favourite people in the span of one and a half minute, oh, and yeah, remember when she broke Beau's whole heart? And continues to make him feel small and sad? Yeah, to say I don't like her is an understatement.

Jenny defending Beau against Carla was such a nice moment, and just another reason she's the best, and why her and Beau are the perfect match. She actually cares about him, respects and understands him. Next time Carla is being rude and mean, I hope she doesn't care about being polite and wipes the floor with Carla. Full offense, but I'd much rather watch more about Luke and Paige and their past (criminal?) activities, than Emily whining and sticking her nose where it doesn't belong every episode. Paige and Luke aren't likable at all, but they ARE interesting. Emily is annoying AND boring. And she keeps getting exponentially more obnoxious every episode.

Cassie and Cormac.

They are my, er, second "one" true pairing (after Jenny/Beau, of course). I really wasn't expecting to ship someone with Cassie this soon after Lindor after they broke up right after getting together after a one and a half season long burn, but I am rooting for these two for sure 👌🏻

Donno and Tonya.

Am I finding myself shipping Tonya and Donno or......? I mean, I could definitely be okay with them just being friends and partners, but...... I don't know, it could be tipped over to romance very easily 👀

Sunny and Walt.

Wow, Walt really had me feeling bad for a minute there, I was like, damn, he did kill Mark, but maybe he didn't mean to......? But nah, this man is full-on Menace in the Woods 😱🔪 And I would not be surprised if Sunny and Walt became a full on killing team, they're both so unhinged! 💯

Beau patting Jenny on the shoulder entering the house had no tactical reason, so I just love that they're such a team, so concerned for each other, that he did it to reassure her he's there, he's okay, he's got her back 🥺💕

Them fighting the killer, Beau and Jenny are so badass and such a perfect team 💅🏻

Beau fighting to protect himself versus Beau after the creep attacked Jenny, he was much more intense during the latter, I love the increased intensity and drive. He really said no one touches my girl 😡 and I love that 💖💕💫

Every time she thinks Beau got hurt, Jenny gets so worried, everything else loses focus. She rushed to him, completely forgetting the suspect, and if that's not love... 💕 and how gentle she is checking his wound, touching it so gingerly 🥺 True loveism 💝💖

It's so perfect how in sync they are, Beau knew he could count on Jenny to know why he'd turned her around, and Jenny trusted him and instinctually knew why, she realized exactly what he was doing. And him, physically having her back, holding her steady 🥺💝 Plus, the way it ended with them holding on to each other 💯 They're so sexy for that 🔥💕

There's also a moment where it looks like Beau might've been reaching for Jenny's hand, so maybe one of the takes had them shooting together and I'd love to see that outtake, though I do love how it actually played out, with complete trust and them in sync 🥺

I also love how they just stay in this position just a minute longer than necessary, letting themselves be support for the other, letting themselves take comfort from the other, just breathing together for a moment 🥺💟

Also, is it just me or did Jenny just absolutely melt back into Beau once they both knew the danger was averted? 🥺💖 I love the trust they have. And the 💫 tension 💫

And this moment when they're both still breathless, and Beau feels the intimacy of the situation and Jenny just leans back into him, when he's finally looking at her, I think he's realizing he's fallen for her, irrevocably 🥺💕

I just, I love this scene a lot. And I really love that the scene is so warm and wholesome with their trust and teamwork, but also really hot and has a lot of tension! It's everything to me, and I just love how it was written and played so well, such a perfect balance of emotional vulnerability and display of feelings, and physical tension 🥺💖

The Hospital Scene.

Jenny reassuring Beau about how good of a dad he is 🥺 He deserves to be around people who appreciate and respect him so much 💛

The more episodes go by without Beau calling her "Jenny" and only "Hoyt", even though he called her Jenny during the premiere, the more I become convinced that he's already in love, but denying it to himself (until he just can't 👀). Although, he didn't call her Hoyt after the fight scene, might that be more evidence my man's catching on to how he feels about Jenny.....? 🥺👀

Beau, my beloved.

Beau really is the whole package. Kind, funny, handsome, caring & THIS good at his job? His instincts about the murder not being random were right, and when he was looking at the photos, his gut knew it was important, even when he didn't have all the pieces to know why 🏆💯🥰❤

He used to build houses in the summers? And knows about antiques? I love a multitalented and multifaceted king 🥺 I want to hear more about his backstory, his parents/siblings, his hobbies, what he likes to do in his free time. Just, more about him in general. I truly do love him with my whole heart 💖

OH MY GOD I CANT BELIEVE I ALMOST MISSED POSTING ABT BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN'S ANNIVERSARY???? im gonna get mushy here so if yall wanna skip this go for it i wont hold it against you lol but this movie means a lot to me (if u cant tell) and id just kinda like to share a little bit abt why

I remember when I first saw Brokeback, I'd been either a junior or senior in high school, and I had watched it with my ex. I literally have no clue how we got to watching it or who proposed we watch it in the first place, but I remember that even back then I had been incredibly moved by the story.

Cut to 5-6 years later, and in January of this year I'd been in the midst of a really, super dark depression thanks to some health issues that I've been dealing w for awhile now. It made it so that on top of COVID, I wasn't rly getting out of the house for anything but school, and even then doing that took a really big toll on my anxiety. So basically, from the time that the 2021 winter semester had ended for me in early December, to when school started back up again for the spring in late January, I hadn't left the house at all.

In mid January, like a week before school started back up for me, I was scrolling through Hulu, bored out of my mind and also trying to find something to occupy my time and thoughts w bc I'd been going stir crazy, and I saw that Brokeback had been listed again. I kinda lingered on it because I remember phil (@/senditothemoonn) had watched it like a month or two before and she had started talking abt it in our group chat and posting quotes abt it and stuff, and it had been awhile since I'd seen it so I was like hey! What the hell! Lets give it a watch, its time I watch it again anyways.

And like. Something happened to the world for me after that viewing. It was like it had blown apart, and when it came back together it was completelty rearranged for me.

I'm not entirely sure why that time around the movie has such a deep, DEEP impact on me when I had seen it before, and had been very touched by it back then. I think its partly that a. I never used to watch movies with subtitles, and so before I realized that I probably have issues with the way my mind processes sound, a lot of movie dialogue just kinda. Didn't get internalized by me for some reason? Even now when I rewatch old faves that I haven't seen with subtitles, I'm always astounded by what the hell theyre saying because I had never rly picked up on it before, lol.

And like...I mean if you've seen the movie then you already know this, but their accents and dialect are kinda hard to get through. ESPECIALLY when it comes to Heath as Ennis. Which isn't in any way a jab at him, I think every part of his performance is super thoughtful and well-crafted and every acting choice he makes serves the character in only positive ways. But when you already have issues processing audio, and when you have a character who's jaw is perpetually cleched so tight that the words literally have to "fight" their way out of his mouth, its just like. Not the best combination lol.

And so this time around when I saw the movie, I saw it with subtitles and it opened up a new dimension of the film to me. Honest to God, the first time I watched the movie, I had no idea that the shirts at the end were so signifigant because Jack had stolen Ennis'. I guess the first time I saw it, I didn't catch the part where Ennis talks about having left his damn shirt up there, and Jack just kinda shrugs it off and changes the subject. When I saw that moment this time, it didn't really strike me as anything important until the movie got to the end and you realize that Jack had kept the shirts all those long 20 years and UGH. I literally remember screaming with tears in my eyes, thats what happened to the shirt! There they are! And then when I saw that Ennis had put his shirt over Jack's to hang together on his closet door for the rest of his life? Dead. Dead, I was literally stabbed in the heart 50 million times and killed dead. I'd never made those connections before and now that I had I like. got it, yanno? I got why this was an oscar winner, and why people were sk devastated by its best picture loss. Not that I hadn't before, but it just hit so much harder.

So yeah, the subtitles probably had a lot to do w why its stayed lingering in my mind for a long while, but I also think its because in a few ways it kind of spoke to me and made me think about my health issues and the self-imposed quarantine that I'd put myself through for the better part of a year at that point.

To me, the whole story is about regret, about not taking the chances we have while we have them and having to learn to live with knowledge of the things we didn't let ourselves do and the memories we didn't let ourselves make.

I hadn't seen a lot of my family for awhile at that point because I just didn't want to be out of my house, and its only been recently that I realized how much life I've missed out on living for a good year and a half-ish or so. And like yeah, I have a reason, my health issues and super aggressive anxiety have kinda put me through the ringer. But I dunno like. I kind of empathized and related to Ennis' character in a really odd way, because he also let his fear control what he did and especially what he did not do, and for that, he ended up living a half-life and missed his chance of getting to spend his time with the person he loved the most.

For me, the fear of regret is one of my biggest motivators in doing literally anything. I've realized I don't want to end up like Ennis, isolating myself from my loved ones and missing out on the chance for love and life because of some issues I have. And I mean its not like they're not real issues. Just like the fears that motivated Ennis' actions, theyre very real concerns. But since seeing the movie, I've been a lot more proactive about seeing doctors and trying to get this shit fixed up, because I don't want to end up wasting my life away. I wanna find my Jack, and I wanna be happy, and I wanna live.

Anyways. Happy 17th birthday to my favorite movie in the world <3

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - Spoiler Free Review

This is a good movie. This is a fantastic movie! I was a bit nervous for this one, after the loss of Chadwick Boseman and I wasn't sure how likable Shuri would be as the main character, as the actress kind of ruined her for me a bit. But I was blown away. Shuri was still loveable, although in a much darker tone.

But the characters around her, are what made the movie so incredible, in my opinion. Angela Bassette ATE this role. As far as I'm concerned, she was the lead actress. I don't have much experience with her, but wow, she stole the movie. Every scene she was in was the best scene.

Namor, played by Tenoch Huerta, urrrrrgh my God. What a man. He could play the most vicious, monstrous criminal and I'd still be on my KNEES for him. Gorgeous man and the fact he was shirtless throughout the entirety of the movie with his bulge just THERE made it all the better. Thirsting aside, he portrayed Namor wonderfully and made an underwater beefcake with wings on his feet feel grounded and real.

Winston Duke as M'Baku felt somewhat underused. I really like his character and it felt as though he was mostly used for comic effect. I understand he was never a main character, but I want him to be. He's the leader of his tribe, I want to see him fleshed out more.

Okoye, yet again, is the character I'm always waiting for a scene with. Danai Gurira. Need I say more. She somehow plays stoic, a trait I can find boring, and makes it so much MORE than that. She's badass but not cold. I absolutely adore her character. Okoye deserves her own damn movie (although I think she's getting a show?)

Oh, and Nakia! I was worried she wasn't going to be in this movie, again I don't watch trailers. But I'm so glad she was because she is a fucking badass and I remember adoring her in the first Black Panther. I missed her. I also feel like she's an underrated character, but Lupita Nyong'o deserves better! Another character I would happily watch a movie or series about. A Wakandan spy show- are you kidding? That would be everything to me.

This might be spoilery if you haven't watched the trailer (like I didn't) so be warned!

Riri Williams has made her first onscreen appearance. And wow. Wow, wow, wow, wow WOW! Love her. Wasn't expecting to see her. I had heard she was in this movie, but I thought it was just going to be an end-credits scene. No, in fact, she is the PLOT DEVICE. Amazing. I love when characters are introduced in other things, it just makes the universe feel more interconnected and alive. Dominique Thorne, welcome to the MCU girl, you're gonna be amazing. Love her twist on the Iron Man suit, it really feels like her own creation. Although she offers comic relief, she's not a clown. She already has depth and layers that I cannot wait to get into in future projects.

A great movie that I would absolutely recommend and would rewatch in a heartbeat.

The Wilds: Season 1 Rewatch

Hey, everyone! With Season 2 of The Wilds premiering on May 6, 2022, I thought I'd go back and rewatch season 1 again after the long hiatus.

I'm going to be posting my thoughts on the episodes as I watch them, so hopefully y'all will join me in getting excited about the upcoming season! I can't wait, so let's dive right in!

Personal Highlights of the Episode

Dot smoking as the plane was going down... total fucking mood. I could only hope to be as badass as Dot if I was ever in a plane crash scenario.

The Jeff / Leah relationship makes me cringe, but I chuckle every time I see the "happy belated birthday" high five in the hotel room. It is so awkward, and then Leah even adds a little hand tap... I can't.

Things I Didn't Catch the First Time

Dot has her lighter and pack of cigarettes just chilling in the cupholder on the plane.

When Shelby walks past Fatin on the plane after suggesting icebreaker games, Fatin is smoothing out her eyebrow with her middle finger. Probably random and unintentional, but if not — it's hilarious.

It's dark outside when Leah is driving Jeff to his hotel. Like, did she have to wait around for him after school? Was the drive that long? Honestly, idk how the school wouldn't get into some shit asking a student to drive a grown-ass man to his hotel. You're telling me there wasn't ONE adult staff member available?

The green dial button is still on the phone screen during Martha and Fatin's calls... oops!

Observations / Theories / Questions

The Timeline Doesn't Make Sense — It's shown that Leah gets (presumably) her last text from Jeff on Wednesday, July 10.

We can assume that they were in a non-sexual relationship at least a few weeks before September 5 (Leah's birthday) based off her reply to his drunk text. Then, following her birthday, a sexual relationship until at least June 2.

Jeff and Leah's relationship could have lasted anywhere from the beginning of August to the end of June/beginning of July the following year.

Does the East Bay Academy of Art go to school year round? When does the Island Retreat begin, because I thought it was a whole summer thing aka 3 months? Someone EXPLAIN this to me pleaaaaase. I'm honestly scared that the writers won't explain any of this and it will be the biggest plot hole for the show.

If you want to get even more confused... We know Martha's evidence box that Young goes through in the bunker has a January 10 date on them. Leah is still worked up over Jeff in her interviews. A whole 5-6 months following their last text in July and after a whole mf'ing traumatic experience living on a deserted island. Girl. I love you, but please, move on (my shipper heart will be content with Fatin).

Theory — Why not have Rachel, the super athletic and skilled diver (aka: swimmer) be the subject placed in the water with Jeannette? They are the only two in the ocean following the plane crash (extremely dangerous btw since Leah was sedated). I think that Leah (Gretchen's favorite) was Jeannette's primary "target," so that she could shift Leah's train of thought about the island, observe her more closely for Gretchen, etc. So how do you get a girl that you don't know to bond with you more quickly? Only place them in a similar situation that none of the other girls are in.

Theory — Gretchen had scouted Leah for her experiment prior to the Jeff relationship (or shortly after). Remember: Leah had thought her life was boring and unremarkable. Gretchen probably could have easily convinced Leah herself or her parents to branch out and goes on a summer retreat. But, enter Jeff: exciting, remarkable, loving... everything Leah wanted. Now Gretchen realizes that Leah's new infatuation would prevent her from agreeing to leave for a whole summer, Gretchen mailed Leah's birth certificate to Jeff to induce the breakup and ensure that her favorite subject would be on the island.

None of the girls question why they aren't seriously injured after a plane crashing into the ocean. The only injuries (excluding Jeannette) are Martha's ankle, blood on Toni's ear, and Shelby's flipper being cracked. To make matters worse — Gretchen's people would have had to manipulate these injuries (super creepy and unethical). Like did these assholes really hurt Martha's ankle so bad that it blew up like a balloon? And completely invading Shelby's privacy by getting into her MOUTH and breaking the flipper. omg.

Probably completely random and irrelevant, BUT the Dawn of Eve logo has nine letters... potentially corresponding with the nine girls sent to the island. Furthermore, there's two periods in the logo between the words... potentially corresponding with the two confederates that Gretchen assigns to the experiment.

ANNNNND that's a wrap on episode 1. It's long, I know, but I hope everyone (anyone?) that read it enjoyed it or you know, don't think I'm a complete idiot. There's a lot more that I could have covered, but shit's long enough. Like Rachel and Nora's dynamic together (and individually) in episode one could have led to a 4-page essay. The Shoni interactions early on knowing how that ends up at the end of the season, FATIN in general with her remarks because they are top tier. You get my point.

so i've accidentally reread LAL and SSS because i was doing research on kiss scenes (again) and it's been so long since i've actually read them (i don't think i've actually read them since they ended???) but my heart???????? my fucking HEART????????

gods, the flash flood still sends chills down my spine, and so does the fire. knowing what's coming doesn't change that in the least. i so badly wish i had the ability to make gifs and/or videos bc i know exactly what the CMT "next time on: Lassos and Lilies" post-episode thingies would look like and i can't share them and it's a damn shame 😭 the drama, the music, the beautifully cut together scenes...

also SSS still holds my entire fucking heart. GODS its so fucking cute, i need more sugar daddy steve because holee SHIT is it the cutest thing in the world. i love that little world you created. yu talk about such heavy things in the best kind of way, and it's the same characters as always, but i fall in love with them all over again and it's just 😭😭😭 ALSO, also this is my favorite version of clint. i love Fair Game clint, he's perfect and adorable, but SSS clint is just somethin else. you got the humor so perfectly right in this story, balanced perfectly with the shitty reality, it's one of my favorites and i'd forgotten it until just now.

OH and another also before i go: something i'm trying to do with my own story right now is showing/saying "i love you" before they actually say "i love you" and that's another reason i'm doing my research with your writing because gods DAMN you do that so well. you can FEEL how much they love each other before they ever even utter the words, that by the time they do, it just makes sense. it's a "well duh" kinda moment.

okay, i'm done gushing now. i've not had a lot of time to read lately between work and my own projects, but i just wanted you to know that i love everything you do, and that i'm using your writing for research purposes for my own stories because you write romance to a level i aspire to 💖 i hope you have a lovely day!!

You “accidentally reread” almost 400k worth of fic for research?

That’s what I saw when I rewatch Thor Ragnarok for the “plot” 😂

Anyway!

The flash flood and fire scenes in LAL are so intense. I worked so hard on them to bring up those like, classic western/adventure film feelings and vibes while also making it gut punch emotionally brutal for my readers. When I set out to write LAL I thought “we’re gonna hit every western trope including flood fire cattle drives a hanging a rich landowner and a whorehouse— all of it” and by god did I try to deliver on it!

And SSS- I’m not saying this lightly, I think SSS might be one of the best stories I’ve ever written. I’m honestly so proud of it. Of Stonys individual journeys, of their dating and falling in love, Tony’s issues and the way Steve is an actual knight in shining armor, BuckyNat with their own story and dynamics, Omega!Clint and how previously AWFUL he is 😂 I think especially with the pandemic SSS hit so hard on so many levels for us, with the money struggles and the loneliness and the fear and anxiety and inevitable relief… plus baby!peter just stole every single scene he showed up and that was excellent.

Doing your research in my writing is just— you have no idea how cool it is to think my writing helps someone else’s writing?? Especially since 9/10 times I’m pretty sure I have no idea what I’m doing 😂 100/100 top tier compliment, THANK YOU

I DO feel like In any media if we get to the “I love you” confession and we’re surprised/not thrilled by it, then it’s not a good story. Unless it’s an out of the blue strangers to lovers unrequited love situation, the actual love confession should feel like a “oh of course they do” moment and not in a boring sort of “saw that coming” way but in a “I can breathe again” sort of moment?

And I try really hard to SHOW it all in my fics, especially the Omegaverse or soulmate trope cos sometimes the actual love story can get rushed through as a result of the mate bond/fated lover dynamic and that’s not why we read romance! We don’t want to rush through to the love confession we want to see it in all these thousand different ways that makes those three words the most important but also sort of the most irrelevant words in the book. We don’t need to read/see/hear them, we already KNOW and when “I love you” can be honestly answered with a joyful “I know”— I mean, is there anything better than that??

Currently reading: I'm reading the Queen's Gambit !! I watched the show on Netflix months ago and decided to buy the book. Honestly? I really love it lol. I've read through it pretty quickly, although I'm not quite done yet. I like the writing style and the narration just moves so well. I never thought chess could be so interesting.

I must say though, I've been speed-reading it so that I could read Don Quixote lol. I love reading a lot but I don't find the time so often because I have soooo many other hobbies, but when I start reading a book and really like it, I'm glued to it.

I haven't read any fanfics in awhile just bc I haven't felt the urge to read them. I go through periods where fanfiction is just uninteresting to me. Mostly its because the one thing I want to read fanfiction for doesn't have anymore for me to read!! curse sf9s permanent nugu status.

Also started reading this Chinese bl novel? it reads a little weird because its a translation but I suppose it isn't too bad. not exactly interesting but just something to pass the time.

Last song: I believe it was Rush Hour by Monsta X. I love that song lol. Tbh I only really listen to Kpop, not much else. Thats just the kind of person I am tho!! Once I get into something I stick with it until I can't take it anymore. Last non-Kpop song I remember listening to is rises the moon by Liana Flores. It's very calming and I really adore her voice.

Last series: I've been watching adventure time lately. I enjoy kids cartoons a lot but the motivation to watch adventure time was bc of the lesbians lol <3 they're cute.

Last Kdrama I watched was probably a rewatch of SFH but I just started this ballet one on Netflix that I can't remember the name of. OH I also recently watched Tinted With You but I didn't finish it because I found it to be a little boring.

Sweet, savory, or spicy: SPICY!! I love spicy food sm. I'd have to put sweet and savory on equal levels bc I like them both!!

Currently working on: Hmmm. A few things! Some long term things I'm working on:

1. Finishing high school! I have one semester left and its kicking my ass.

2.My mental health! I have very severe depression and anxiety and I recently started going to therapy! I also started using anti-depressants and they've helped!!

3. My Kpop collections. I spend a ridiculous amount of money on Kpop merch because I'm collecting a lot of different groups!

My current photo card collections: OT9 SF9, 3 members of NCT, 1 member of Monsta X (and some ot5/6/7 sets bc they're cute), a few enhypen pcs, and 1 member from Seventeen!

Short term things:

1. Writing Fanfics. I'm working on one of the requests I was given and I'm having a lot of fun! I'm excited to do the other one as well! I'm also writing an sf9 fanfic bc im sooooo emo about the lack of sf9 fics on ao3.

2.Selling a bunch of extra Kpop stuff I've hoarded for like 2 years.

Favorite season: So. This is a little funny. I'm originally from Hawaii!! Which is of course pretty hot year round. However, my favorite season is actually winter! I have a hard time handling the heat. I get really bad migraines and I constantly get sick when I overheat and it just sucks. I now live in the southern US which is either HOT or mildly cold. We had a 30 degree day and the next day it was 75 out and humid as hell. I like winter bc its just waaaay more comfortable.
