good night to everybody but especially the couple who sat next to me during tonight's showing of Spiderverse, where the guy spent the latter half of the movie trying to initiate a makeout session while the girl kept ignoring his advances due to being preoccupied by the spectacular celebration of animation and art happening in front of her eyes

Excuse me, I want to ask a question. Is it ethical to like the Kill la Kill dub? I noticed some of the changes in dialogue between it and the sub. I ask bc the kill la kill dub is my favorite dub of all time.
Hi there!
This has obviously been sitting in my inbox for a while. I haven't been quite sure how to respond.
Maybe I can start by posing another question: is it ethical to like a movie adaptation of a book that makes changes?
A translation—be it of a book to a movie, or of one language to another—is always going to be different from the original. There's no getting around that. But I in no way believe that this means we shouldn't try to translate books to screen, or that works in one language should only ever remain in that one language. Translation increases accessibility so that more people can enjoy and engage with a text.
Of course, however, I do recognize that accessibility is also a concern for particularly loose translations. For those unable to read, a movie or an English dub of an anime may be the only way they can enjoy a story—and if there are drastic changes, is that really fair?
It's not a question I can definitively answer. But personally: though it's not Kill la Kill related, I eventually want to finish writing my report about Anime NYC's English dub premiere for the 24th Detective Conan film, The Scarlet Bullet, which released last month. And the tl;dr of my thoughts really boils down to how disheartened I was by the movie's script. Unlike the series's English dub from FUNimation, which changed characters' names (and occasionally dramatically altered plots and dialogue), Bang Zoom! Entertainment's dub is very accurate—to the point that I felt it was to its detriment. It sounded like the actors were simply reading subtitles, not speaking like actual humans; I scribbled down several lines during the showing with the thought, "No one would ever talk like that." While I certainly have my concerns with how many creative liberties FUNimation took, I desperately missed it watching the new dub. The script felt so stiff and lifeless.
So, another question: is it unethical to make changes to the source material to better fit the translated medium?
It's again a question I can't definitively answer. But as I've said about Kill la Kill...
. . . the dub script and actors are taking some liberties with the material—while still keeping it in-character, in my opinion—and coming up with stuff that maintains the energy and feel of the original lines but is still new and different. That’s what I like in a dub; it’s faithful, but it isn’t afraid to mix it up a bit.
And Detective Conan:
Loosey-goosey dubs that take lots of creative liberties with the material are my favorites. I think they’re so much fun and add so much flavor. Not to get too "subs versus dubs" here, but as I see it, a dub is an adaptation, much like how an anime can be an adaptation of a manga, and I like it when adaptations put their own spin on the work and breathe a new life into it.
I'd personally much rather a translation be lively and creative and different than try so hard to be as accurate as possible that it loses so much soul.
But that's just my take!

Boruto things that made me lose my mind (ep 62-93):
Sasuke: I'm taking boruto onto the battlefield with me ✌️
Naruto @ boruto: sorry for treating u like a child and not a child soldier
Shikadai: *worried abt his friend boruto* shikamaru: yea I was the same abt naruto (no. Ur son is worried abt his friend. U were worried abt ur pride. Don't pretend u and naruto were friends)
Shout out to Boruto's 2 daddies for allowing their son to kill a God at age 12
What the fuck am I supposed to feel abt gender fluid orochimaru???
Last week boruto killed a God, this week a sleazy actor creeps on chocho... and he really looks like an adult...
Boruto writers: chocho is beautiful just the way she is... but we will continue to use her weight as a joke
I hate every member of team 5 in both personality and character design
Mitsuki @ orochimaru: it doesn't matter if you're my mother or father. As long as I kno ur essence, that's what matters (...ok but I cannot fathom the implication that orochimaru's essence is anything but evil)
The only personal items in Mitsuki's house are pill bottles and a framed photo of boruto beside his bed. That's pretty unnerving.
I think it says a lot about that those 2 horrible old advisors r still around and their opinions still hold weight. If I were naruto, I would not let them back in the office. Ever. Like bro they were instrumental in ur mistreatment
Suigetsu: that's LORD orochimaru! (Dude y r u putting respect on his name? Didn't he keep u locked naked in a tube at one point?)
The white snake sage has the fucking goofiest accent in the English dub
...boruto made as summoning contract with a giant snake... but instead of summoning him from a snake realm... I think the snake burrowed into his soul? Bc the snake is showing up in the same internal place as kurama does for naruto. Weird.
Mitsuki is the most gay
Boruto @ villian with pulsating mass attached to his chest: how did u get that heart?! (Boruto what the fuck do u think a heart looks like????)

I have never been able to figure out if yugioh is supposed to be as gay as it comes across or if it's a weird accident because it goes way past the typical shonen friendship tropes, there are two men standing here staring lovingly into each other's eyes telling each other they're the only person who has ever understood them as people, then go on to have a story line that if just one of them was a woman it would be in the romance genre instantly
I started off just thinking about Yusei for this because of Kiryu and Bruno, because he has literal date episodes with Bruno that mirror the one he had with Aki, and the backstory with him and Kiryu is identical to every dramatic breakup scene I have ever seen in my life. Then I remembered Kaiba trying to invent a way to travel to a specific afterlife so he could "play duel monsters" with his "rival" one last time because he missed him. and whatever was going on with Yugi and Atem that was so gay it was how I discovered what gay people were as a child.
But uh. then I remembered Judai and Johan in GX. there is literally no heterosexual reading of them. The fact some writers tried to write episodes of Judai showing interest in women was pointless because then he'd turn around and gently hold Johan in his arms with rainbows in the background while Sho is off to the side having a trope-filled jealousy arc on the side straight out of every slice of life romance drama I've ever watched. then another episode insisting he likes girls again
also while looking up a pic of Judai and Johan for this I found an article about how the english dub of gx made Judai straight despite him being the first queer character in yugioh because they made Yubel, an intersex genderfluid character, a cis woman in the dub. and now I'm mad at that all over again bc as a teenager I didn't understand fully why it irritated me so much but now I very much do lol

Hey, I'm in the process of writting a fic and I have a quick question here for the monsuno fandom before I go insane:
Where the hell does Dax's lingo come from and Where I can find a reference
Like, Dax's type of speech is almost iconic, there's no other character in the series that talks like he does, is basically a 'Me privilege' at this point and I fk love it bc this little son of a muffin has such swag and personality (As far as personality goes in the series, lol) and I'm sitting in front of my drafts getting psychic damage when I get to his dialogues because it's hit on one line and then miss it on the next three when I'm trying to replicate how he talks!!! TTwTT
Save meeeee
Full disclosure: it has been, like, a year since I last sat down and watched the show. I may not remember fine details
From what I remember, Dax has the weirdest combination of Cockney English and Australian accent that I've ever heard. The stranger part is that Keith Silverstein can, in fact, do a decent Cockney English accent (he voiced Speedwagon in the English dub of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure)
Apart from that, I think Dax spoke in a relatively casual way. He's prone to giving nicknames to others or shortening names (the only example that's currently coming to me is him calling Dr Suno "Doc")
He also calls people "bandito". This is an Italina loanword that means "bandit". It seems to be slang from Central America and Mexico. So, someone from England or Australia wouldn't typically use the word. Strangely, it doesn't feel jarring to hear him say it
He also has a habit of saying "bleazers" and "bleazing heck", as exclamations of surprise. These are non-swears acting as swear words. The show does this quite a bit with "crag" (as its substitute f-word). "Bleazing heck" reminds me of "bloody hell", which is an exclamation that crops up a lot in both British and Australian English. "Bleazers" is not a word I've ever heard outside of this show but the way Dax uses it reminds me of how I might swear when I'm surprised (often an emphatic f-word, I am Australian)
So, from what I remember, Dax has a rather eclectic vocabulary. It's a mishmash of Cockney/Australian with a sprinkling of Central American/Mexican and non-swears
I hope this helps in some way
If someone remembers him better, please please please add to this

They See Right Through Me
I wrote this entire thing on my phone while waiting for my stupid flight that got delayed like three hours. I promised myself I’d post it before we took off bc I haven’t posted any like, original content in so fucking long so it’s unedited but I present to you: Everyone forgets Jenna’s birthday except it’s the archer by taylor swift coded
word count: 2.7k
tws: mention of suicide, kinda graphic but no one dies
For Michael’s first birthday after the SQUIP, Jake rented out an entire retro arcade that Jeremy had found four hours away from Middleborough. They skipped school that day, took the train, and spent six hours playing games everyone but Michael hated. They were smiling the entire time.
For Jeremy’s first birthday after the SQUIP,  they all pitched in to buy him a new computer and spent the evening watching movies on his kickass macbook.
They took Christine to New York for six days to see three different shows on broadway. Rich got a new skateboard and spent the day at the skate park receiving lessons from some professional skater Jenna had never heard of. It was all far too extravagant, courtesy of their insanely rich King and Queen (handsome Jake, pretty Chloe), but it’d become a defining characteristic of their friend group—the ‘squip squad’, as Michael had dubbed it. They threw crazy fucking birthday parties.
Jenna didn’t exactly expect the same for herself. Though it was never explicitly stated that she still wandered in the outskirts of the group, fitting in only when it was convenient or there was an extra seat in the car, it remained an unspoken fact. She wasn’t even sure they were aware of it. They didn’t think about her long enough for it to even occur to them that she had no where else to sit, that she considered most of them to be her best and only friends.
Thinking about it realistically, she’d probably get a cake. Maybe a couple gifts, if she was lucky. A balloon.
She wouldn’t admit it out loud to a soul, but there was a spark of disappointment when she got to her locker that morning to be met with math textbooks and an uneaten granola bar from the day before rather than streamers and her friends singing to her. She glanced around, a pathetic show of hope, a last-ditch effort to believe she was more than the little bits of gossip she contributed to the group. Jake was walking briskly in the other direction, his hand on Rich’s back, dragging him away from the English class they were both supposed to be going to and towards the single-stall gender neutral bathrooms on the first floor only one person was supposed to be in at a time. Christine was standing by the stairwell with Jeremy, animatedly talking about a musical she’d discovered.
No one was looking at her.
Jenna walked to class without a good morning from a single one of her friends. Even worse, she didn’t get a happy birthday either.
She held out until lunch. All morning she listened aptly to every word spoken, groping and striving to find enough gossip that she’d capture the attention of the entire lunch table just long enough for someone to say, ‘by the way, isn’t it your birthday today?’
Dustin apparently slept with Kylie. Barely interesting, considering his rep, but Kylie was claiming he only got off after licking her toes, and one of Jake’s favorite jokes was pretending he had a foot fetish. That was her in.
She sat down, already buzzing with the anticipation of all eyes on her, their attention captivated. But before she could get a word out, Jake hopped up onto the table, clapping his hands twice to capture the undivided attention of everyone within a ten foot radius.
“Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.”
Jenna was torn between the hope building in her chest, distracting and loud, as bright and sporadic as a display of fireworks, and the instinctive, all-consuming urge to forget every opinion she’d ever held just to listen to Jake Dillinger speak. Though the squip had taught the group to value themselves and not societies ideals of normal, that did nothing to dismantle the hold Jake held on the stent body.
“As many of you are aware,” he continued, flashing his crowd a winning smile, “Our dear friend, Christine, holds the talent of a million Anne Hathaways combined, and it seems a local director has finally acknowledged the full extent of her talent and cast her as Blanche in a showing of A Streetcar Named Desire!” At the grand announcement, a round of applause flitted throughout the cafeteria. Jenna was so caught up in it she almost missed the disappointment of Jake ignoring her birthday.
It didn’t settle until he was sitting back down. Still smiling, he said, “Pinkberry tonight as a celebration, ladies? Then drinks at my place?”
Jenna frowned. She tried to find the flicker of hope she’d kept burning all day somewhere in her chest, nestled safely between the growing admiration for her friends as they went from ruthless bullies to kind, genuine actors and actresses and nerds and the ghostly confidence she still had in herself that she fought everyday to keep even vaguely alive. She found empty darkness and the daunting realization that there was no more time for them to pull in with a surprise. She understood forgetting in the morning—knowing her friends, they’d all probably stayed up too late the night before—but this was…
They’d forgotten. They’d all forgotten. They were throwing a party for goddamn Christine Canigula, the girl so pretty and talented Jeremy was willing to let himself be mind controlled just for her affection, on Jenna’s birthday.
She wanted to cry. She wanted to stay exactly where she was seated, on the edge of the table next to Michael, and just start crying. She wanted them to see her tears and ask if she was okay and she wanted to scream their mistakes in their faces and watch the realization. She wanted their pity, even if it was faux and layered with the knowledge that they should feel bad even if they didn’t, because she needed them to look at her. To see her. To convince her that she hadn’t already died, that she wasn’t just a ghost so unwanted she’d been turned away from heaven and damned to pine after the attention of people who didn’t want her. She was prepared to wander the halls of Middleborough as the outline of a girl until it burned or rotted away.
But she rose to her feet instead, slow and unassuming, and walked away, her bag over her shoulder. She was pretty sure Michael cast a second glance over his shoulder—a split second, could he see her?—but there was the ever growing possibility that it was out of curiosity rather than concern.
That theory was proved when she walked out of school without a text. When she drove herself home in her crappy-ass car that she could barely afford and no one bothered to check if she was okay. When the group chat (that she’d notably had to ask to be let into) kept texting like nothing was wrong, like there wasn’t supposed to be candles and cakes and balloons at every corner.
She settled on the floor next to her bed, her vision blurred by tears she wasn’t prepared to let anyone see.
She didn’t know what she was doing wrong. She was better than Chloe at least, right? She was never ruthless like Chloe was. People didn’t quiver at the sight of her, didn’t flinch when she brushed up against their arm, so why were they so willing to take Chloe to a fashion show in Paris for her birthday while Jenna sat alone in her bedroom?
She considered killing herself just so they would mourn. She considered doing it in the ugliest way possible, with blood and guts and tragedy entwined in every vein of hers that laid exposed. She considered doing it on her birthday so they’d know it was their fault. You forgot, her funeral would scream, you fucking forgot.
But to do that would be to admit defeat; to admit that her friends, whom she admired more than anything, were bad to her. Terrible.
She’d tell them. It was that simple. She’d tell them it was her birthday, then they’d apologize and be good to her.
She got dressed up. She wore a long summer dress, a butterfly barrette in her hair, a silver necklace—she thought she looked like a princess.
She left without looking in the mirror long enough to question if she was attractive, if the outfit wasn’t enough to hide her inherent ugliness that surely everyone constantly saw, and showed up to pinkberry an hour before they agreed to meet.
She wasn’t going to be the first one there, she decided. That would be too far. Too obvious. She waited in her car until Christine, Brooke, and Chloe showed up, all in Brooke’s car. She slipped in before the boys had a chance to arrive as to not appear too late with a natural smile on her face.
Conversation was already bubbling when she sat down next to Christine, far enough from the edge that someone would be forced to sit next to her and she’d be sandwiched between two people. When the boys arrived Michael plopped down next to her, the smell of weed clinging to his clothes.
“Sup,” he said, and it took her a moment to realize that it was directed at her.
“Hi?”
She and Michael weren’t friends. She didn’t want Michael to pay attention to her. She wanted Chloe. Brooke. Jake. Rich. The clique of popular kids who supposedly weren’t popular anymore but really were.
Michael squinted at her.
“You’re eye shadow’s glittery,” he said while Christine summarized the plot of A Street Car Named Desire for everyone else.
Jenna nodded briefly at him before turning to Jake and opening her mouth. The plan was the same. Enter with the foot fetish story, transition into her birthday.
“Hey, did you hear—“
“I bet English teachers fuck that play in their free time,” Jake laughed, leaning back and draping his arm over Rich’s shoulder. Christine squawked and shot something about metaphors and unnecessary crude jokes back at him. Jake accepted her criticism but turned to Rich and whispered something else that had them both giggling.
Jenna tried again.
“Jake! Did you—“
His attention was stolen by Brooke blowing bubbles into her smoothie. He laughed. Jenna tried to keep her hurt masked by anger and determination. She’s tell them. They’d feel bad. She’d be okay.
“Jake—“
She wasn’t even sure what Jeremy said, but Jake was listening attentively, completely unaware of Jenna.
She clenched her fists into her dress.
“Dude, I don’t think he can hear you.”
She turned back to Michael, eyes narrowed.
“No fucking shit.”
“Aye, I’m being nice here.”
“Really?” she said, eyes widened and vowels drawn out to try and emphasize just how deep her sarcasm ran.
Michael rolled his eyes before he gaze settled on her, daring her to continue speaking. To insult him further. To say something mean enough that it wouldn’t be out of proportion for him to snap back at her.
She didn’t want him. He was a loser. Beyond a loser, beyond the social hierarchy. He resided on a scale all of his own entitled ‘Liked Because He’s Friends With Jeremy and Gives Jake Free Weed.’ Even she didn’t have to talk to him.
But he was looking at her. Cold and uncaring, his gaze remained pinned to her face, lazily examining her expression. He could see her.
“Dustin has a foot fetish,” she sighed.
Michael stared at her. He didn’t seem to understand.
She decided it was simpler to say, “It’s my birthday,” than continue her stupid attempts to get someone to remember.
Michael’s stare remained blank. Then, slowly, he blinked awake and sat up a bit straighter.
“Like, your birthday-birthday? The day you were born?”
Jenna nodded. There was a lot she wanted to say, complaints she wanted to voice, but it felt like something was clawing at her vocal chords and whispering promises of sobs and cries so pitiful they’d be forced to ignore her out of discomfort rather than gather around to provide support.
“Why…uh, why aren’t we doin’ a party thingy?”
Jenna shrugged and crossed her arms. Michael frowned.
“Whaddya want to do?”
“Anything,” Jenna breathed, quiet and pained. She had to blink rapidly to keep tears from forming. Michael nodded seriously and rose clumsily from his seat.
“K,” he said, then stuck out his hand for her to take, “Let’s go.”
Because it was Michael standing up and not her, Jeremy paused his conversation to ask, “Where’re you going?“
“Out,” Michael snapped back like a preteen just learning what the term independence meant. Without waiting for Jenna to look up from her lap (hiding her trembling lips), he grabbed her by the wrist and dragged her from the booth.
“You’re all bitches!” he called out behind him, so confidently yet so muddled by his determination to keep himself standing upright that Jenna couldn’t help but snort out a watery laugh.
Michael dragged her to his rundown car, paused in front of the driver’s seat, and said, “You should probably drive.”
“Me?”
“I am like, way too high to be driving.”
Jenna scrabbled for the lingering bits of the mask she upheld. She straightened her posture, turned her hesitant smile into a condescending grimace and said, “God, you’re such a fucking loser.”
Michael didn’t dignify her with a response. He stumbled over to the passenger seat, sat down, and waited. Jenna didn’t have any choice but to get into the driver’s seat.
The second she was seated, Michael said, “We’re not gonna do the mean girl shit. I deal with enough of that shit sitting with fucking Brooke and Chloe. This is escaping, Jenna. Now drive us to Shop Rite and be fucking nice about it.”
Jenna was in no place to deny him. She drove them there in tense silence, questions sitting on her tongue, so heavy she couldn’t even speak them.
Why do they like you? Why do they treat you better than me? You’re a loser. You’re worse. Why can they see you?
Michael bought her a cake and candles. They sat on the roof of his car in the darkness, Michael’s phone pinging with constant text messages from their friends asking what the fuck was going on (Jenna thought she glimpsed a text from Chloe asking if he and Jenna were having a secret affair). Jenna had her hands clasped politely in her lap, unable to look at him. She thought she finally understood why people didn’t like her.
She couldn’t talk. Michael had told her to drop the act, to be herself, and now she couldn’t talk. Everything she tried to say was an extension of someone else. A rerun of an insult Chloe had said weeks ago, a joke that vaguely resembled something Jake had said.
“Do ya want me to sing, or do you just wanna blow out the candles?”
Jenna blinked back tears and shrugged.
“I suck at singing,” Michael said. Jenna almost insulted him. She kept her mouth clamped shut.
“…so,” he continued, hesitant now, “Maybe uh, just blow them out?”
I wish they could see me, she thought as she blew out all eighteen of the candles Michael had lit. She was only turning seventeen, but it was sweeter than what anyone else had done, so she didn’t bother commenting on it.
As if reading her mind, Michael whispered, “Sorry they forgot.”
Jenna shrugged.
“Do you, uh, wanna eat?”
Jenna wasn’t sure she’d be able to swallow any cake he gave her. Still, he cut her a slice with a plastic fork he’d bought and passed it to her on a paper plate with the words ‘Happy Birthday!’ printed in bright pink letters across it. She accepted.
“So…what do you like?”
“Hm?”
“Well I gotta get you a gift now, right? Somethin’ nice as compensation for being a total dick all day.”
Jenna liked gossiping. She liked pinkberry. She could pretend to like Shakespeare if she tried, but she had the sinking feeling that wasn’t what Michael was asking.
The last thing she remembered genuinely wanting to be was a princess, or maybe an explorer.
“Uh, nature, I guess?” The words tasted like acid in her mouth, so painful she began to question if they were even true. Still, because Michael was looking at her, she pushed through. She’d lie until she was buried and dead if only he’d keep looking. “I wanted to be an explorer. I really liked snakes.”
“Snakes?!” Michael screeched, “Snakes! Fuck, I’m not getting you a snake. Jesus.”
Jenna forced out a small, sympathetic chuckle.
“I’ll take you to the zoo or something. You’re going into the reptile house alone, I don’t fucking care, but we can look at the zebras and stuff together, I guess.”
In her chest, nestled between her self confidence and her flickering admiration for her ‘friends’, she thought she felt something like hope spark.
“Really?” she whispered, pathetically desperate. Michael nodded determinedly.
“Fuck yeah.”
Jenna ducked her head to hide the glowing smile on her face.
She decided, for the sake of the unfamiliar excitement growing inside of her, jumping and leaping in her lungs as it screamed for the first time in years, that didn’t need Jake’s shallow attention or Chloe’s condescending stares, just as long as this one person—this one nice person—could see her.

Film RED bullet review below the cut bc of spoilers but also it’s living in my mind rent-free and i gotta holler for a min (though I should preface this with saying i haven’t read wano yet bc I keep procrastinating but If I Don’t See EVERY one piece film in Theaters I WILL Die! Waited 32 years of my life for this and I’ll get my spoilers via the big screen if i have to!)
THAT BEING SAID lmao
the only reason i went to see this film is bc of JINBE it was BABY’S FIRST FILM and he had 8 entire minutes of screentime rip
the COWARDS didn’t dub the songs for some reason???? but Uta’s english VA AmaLee did her own version of Genesis and it’s a FUCKIN BANGER give it a big big listen she deserved to drop the entire album on the big screen!!!!!!!!!!
in spite of that, me and my friend are huge Jpop nerds so this movie felt tailor made for us and we were alone in the theater thank God so we got to be absolute assholes and jam 100/10
Uta’s EXCELLENT Cult Vibes my girl swung so far to the left she curved right back around A for effort
Every song being a little more deranged than the last as her mental health plummeted bc of sleep deprivation / stress MWA we love to see it we love a girl saying Fuck the Government AND the Pirates and streaming her absolute break down live on global television and taking EVERYBODY DOWN WITH HER only bc it is SO FAR REMOVED from Oda’s typical villain trope of Bitter Old Man who wants to destroy the world bc he is Sad Z i am looking you in the face
the Things I Care About and the Things This Film Wanted Me to Care About Divergence was... Incredible! Uta being Shank’s daughter got crickets from me bc ask me why i should care but it was immediately followed by “Strawhat is The 5th Emperor” which received uproarious applause and that was a spoiler for me lmao
Oda/etc Stop Cramming 48 Random and Unnecessary Characters into every Film Just Because They’re High On The Popularity Poll Challenge
We have a full entire cast of STRAWHATS. There are TEN STRAW HAT PIRATES. Would have loved to see a little bit of oh i don’t know Interaction and Shenanigans that lasted longer than a few seconds, i mean jesus christ I remember the older movies always having lots of fun banter and moments with the strawhats and that’s what made them fun to watch, i remember when there were Character Driven plots give me some of that back I come here for the StrawHat Pirates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did i enjoy Trafalguy turning up to babysit his queer platonic BF? Yes!
Did this movie in particular benefit from him being there? NO.
Fleeting Lullaby (song/scene) is Unhinged, Uta i love u
Luffy who recognizes No One Ever spotting that girl he saw like twice when he was 7 from 40 yards away and being like Hey Stop The Show I Think Know Her sklfsjfasd;lk KING
He said he was gonna go take a nap and Uta had a meltdown abt it, say you have Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria without saying it
ALSO Uta sitting in the rain stroking Luffy’s precious sleeping face and crying got me cryin in the club fr
That very quick flashback of shanks thinking abt Roger and Rayleigh also punched me in the chest but I went into the film not caring abt shanks and his daughter and I left the film still not caring i’m sorry lmao
Tumblr media
Usopp’s observation haki connecting him to his dad and them both working to coordinate their respective crews was GODTIER OH WE LOVE TO SEE IT. USOPP THANK U FOR SHINING SO BRIGHTLY
the very quiet scene where Uta gives Luffy his hat back and she’s trying to be silly with him but you Don’t See His Face At All that entire scene so you KNOW he’s upset and something is wrong made me fucking feral I love Luffy’s growth I love his character development I LOVE HIM SFM
Coby was the REAL MVP of the Film
Jinbe deserved more screentime
Rob Lucci struggling to trouble-shoot the Elders TV sent me right into the stratosphere HOW fucking embarrassing sdfljslfksl
Uta fuckin died????????????/ Unconfirmed but implied
Oda Stop Martyring Women Challenge
this movie is GREAT but it’s not Film Gold

bro im a german drawn together fan, we have access to all three seasons of the show on youtube and the german fanbase are a bunch of NPCS its so fucking annoying, people literally only watch this show because its edgy, not because of the characters, not even caring about the subject matter of what happens plot wise, the references, nah thats it bro, the comments are “i love it bc its so raw and controvrsial 😂😂😂” low ass standards i tell ya, i hate the comment section its EUGH, otherwise they just talk about how much nostalgia this brings them, thats it, nothing else, only two types of comments, oh also “omg this show was too edgy this is why they stopped producing it, people are sensitive nowadays :(” thats not why they stopped the prodction but ok boomer, do your research ffs
in this show u also kinda have to know a bit about american culture and other stuff, so maybe it CAN be confusing for non americans
im so glad i learned english at this point because the english speaking audience seems to give at least one FUCK, there is actual videos discussing what jokes worked in the show, what happend behind the scenes, criticism etc, thats what i wanna do too, not this crap, im actualy sharing some thoughts here, i mean, nobody has heard of betty boop here, nobody gets what toot is based of, after hearing and understanding why tara strong gave toot this baby voice in the original (because betty has that shtick too) i was never able to go back to the dub i was introduced to first, german toot sounds like a angry old woman
i have seen the movie btw, it was never dubbed here and i ordered the dvd from the UK, the german audience isnt even aware that the movie exists i believe, yes the movie is ass but i still wish they were sorta aware? i dont think anyone even knows that there is a uncut version of the show, i have it on dvd too, but they only dubbed the tv version so its odd how they tried to squeeze in the uncut scenes but some stuff was still left out because it wasnt DUBBED
last thing is that im not obsessed with the edgy jokes or controverse topics, i like the really goofy scenes like where toot pushes clara down the stairs in the m. c escher room, its so stupid but thats my humor LMAO, thats one of many examples, but i also just like the concept alot and the characters as a whole, the only adult cartoon show i sorta care about

Masaya Aoyama in Korean, S1
This evening (yes, for me is evening now 😆) the last episode in Korean has been aired. It seems a guy on Twitter particularly liked Masaya’s character or his voice actor, because he posted all his scenes. Generally speaking, if I have to compare him with Japanese dub, Uchida is better. However, the Korean dubber has peaks in certain points where he’s even better than Uchida. Here I’ll post and comment all his scenes.
EPISODE 1
Here I don’t like him very much. He doesn’t seem excited at all when she invites him to the museum and when they chat. I think the VA has yet to “enter” in his character. However, when she’s fainted and he calls her, he seems really worried, even more than Japanese, I like him there!
EPISODE 2
Nothing to say here, it’s okay but he doesn’t sigh like in JP
EPISODE 3
For 3rd episode, there’s only the final clip. Mmmh, pretty much like Uchida, but he seems even more worried in certain points.
EPISODE 4
Like Japanese dub, nothing particular to say.
EPISODE 5
Even here, nothing to say, it’s like Japanese.
EPISODE 6
In Japanese Masaya is completely silent, in Korean he gasps, so he seems more surprised.
EPISODE 7
For all the episode is like Uchida, but I don’t like when he calls for her in the end. He doesn’t seem worried at all. Even when Masaya thanks her, in Japanese he has more emotion in his voice.
EPISODE 8
Again, nothing to say, it’s like Japanese.
EPISODE 9 (and this other part, in their English)
Ok, you can’t beat that “kichatta 🎵” from JP dub. But I absolutely adore his gasp in the end, when Ichigo accepts his invite. He seems even happier and more relieved than JP dub. Oh, kudos both to him and Zakuro’s VA for their English, is very good!
EPISODE 10
This is one of the few parts where I prefer Korean dub. When he whispers in Ichigo’s ear, here he seems more spontaneous and... aroused? I can’t imagine what would have happened if they were in his house and not on the street. 😆
And by the way, this is valid for both JP and KR... why don’t use real dog barks for Rau instead of that weird acute voice? Meh...
EPISODE 11
Like JP, nothing particular here.
EPISODE 12
Incredible to say, but some parts of rain scene are better than Japanese! His sigh when he runs to her, his crying when he hugs her and confesses, add emotions and show he was so badly worried for her. However, I liked more in JP when he tells her about her hair, bc you can really understand he’s making up an excuse at the moment, while in KR he’s too calm. His sigh at the end is better in JP and has more emotion.

Hi!! Please share your top five favourite shows! 🤠
Hey anon, thank you for asking, sorry I took so long to answer, it was really hard for me to choose since my taste in TV shows changed so drastically over the last couple of years. I was thinking of going with more modern shows I enjoyed in the past, that I used to consider my "all time favorite shows" like Succession or Westworld, but the truth is, if you want an authentic answer, I should be answering with my current favorite shows because the longer I thought about it, the more I realized that, especially Succession just isn't holding the same joy it used to hold to me, and I haven't watched it in a long time. I think, to be an "all time favorite show" you need to enjoy rewatching a show even years after you first saw it. So, here are my current top 5 tv shows.
1. MASH
Need I say more? Honestly one of the most entertaining shows I've seen in a long time, and I think it's a real shame that growing up my parents never introduced me to it, let alone watched it themselves (I know that bc one time my dad saw it on TV and tried guessing what M*A*S*H stood for 🤪)because it has such an important message, I think it's especially great because it's one of the only shows I watch in both english and german because the dubbing is just THAT good
2. Little House on the Prairie
Another one my parents failed to show to me that I think I missed out on growing up because the lessons learned in each episode are so important and I think it's just overall a really well done show. There's not a single character I would say I dislike, like okay there are some I might enjoy more than others but overall I just think they're all very fleshed out, authentic characters. I also enjoy the overall dynamic of the characters interacting with each other like one big family.
3. Highway to Heaven
Honestly the amount of times this show made me think about my own self, my "privilege" and the way we as humans should be interacting with each other and the nature around us is amazing. I can't believe it was made in 1984 because I keep seeing themes that really resonate with "modern" problems like the climate crisis or inclusivity and being reminded that those are not 21th century problems but something humanity has been dealing with since at least another century. The theme of this show is so hopeful and inspiring that I actually feel it's impact on me, and the way I started behaving around others. It's also one of the only tv shows to make me cry which is really an accomplishment (okay to be fair MASH and LHOTP did that too)
4. Columbo
Ha ha, funny police man, solving crimes, has a cute dog, drives beat up car, bamboozles the murderer, very smart actually, need I say more?
5. Dead Mountain / Перевал Дятлова (Dyatlov Pass)
Holy cow, I've never seen a show like this one. The cinematography, the music, everything felt so refreshing and new. I think it's a very good interpretation of what might have happened during the Dyatlov Pass incident, it really plays around with all the theories and concludes with the most logical/ scientifically proven scenario. I wish more people knew about this show but given the political situation in Russia I do understand how it could slip under many peoples radars, still a shame it'll mostly likely disappear into the unknown, although I did managed to buy a copy on DVD

Can you recommend top 5 BL whatever (books, movies, shows)? I'm in a mood for no hets and I don't think anyone does WL ...
I can think of 2 things and then... I guess 3 fillers. I will put a ✨️ by the genuine enjoyment recs.
✨️ Heaven Official's Blessing /TGCF (Novel and anime on Netflix (dubbed in English on Funimation)):: A disgraced God is approached by a dangerous Demon King who is known for killing Gods. Strangely, this Demon King wishes only to see this particular God happy and takes care of him with the gentleness of a devout worshipper.
✨️ The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation // The Untamed (Show, Novel, Graphic Novel, Anime):: A heroic young man is changed by war and loss into a powerful icon of evil and corruption. 16 years (13 in the book) after his death, he is resurrected by a madman, reunited with the man he loved in youth, and must solve the mysteries of the past without succumbing to the darkness of the present.
Symantec Error (Show):: A cold but high achieving student is targeted for abuse by an aloof classmate and love blossoms between them.
History 3: Trapped (Show):: A *heavy sigh as I try not to gag at the cliche* police officer falls in love with the gang leader he is trying to bring down. Cliche, not great acting, but the sex scenes are extremely well done, to the degree where it's worth noting.
Be Loved In House: I Do (Show):: A jewelry designer is forced to cohabitate with his insufferable and arrogant boss. As they learn more about one another, love blooms.
The last 3 I put in order of the show rating on Viki. It's disappointing that there isn't more imagination and effort put into them. The plots are aggressively simple and cliche, and -don't spam me with hate- the acting is pretty bad (more so in the last 2).
But you have to appreciate that they're even making the shows and showing love to the LGBT community. Demand for the shows will translate into funding, funding will translate into improvements in talent ability and writing.
And frankly with the writing, I'm not sure that even the most talented actor in the world could have landed the scenes.... but again, a sincere effort was made and hopefully will lead to more in the future.
A couple others that are noteworthy but not quite for this list-
Dumb Husky and His White Cat Shizun (Novel, but not yet published in English (coming soon though!!)):: An all-powerful evil emperor kills himself and wakes in his own 16 year old body. As he tried to change the past he will learn that those he loved most were undeserving of that love, and those he hated most were the ones he now wishes to hold tightly.
Guardian (Webnovel, and show (but show is 50% less gay because of censorship)):: A special team of humans and demons (aliens in the show) hold the line between their two peoples. Chief Zhao Yinlan and the mysterious Shen Wei are bound by a future one cannot imagine, and a past the other can never forget.
Word of Honor (Webnovel, and show (again 50% straighter bc censorship)):: A man who became an assassin on behalf of his prince realizes he serves an evil master and initiates a process that will lead to his own death within 1 year. After leaving his home, he meets, befriends, and slowly falls in love with a powerful outlaw king. Together they must try to reveal to the world a corrupt autocracy and avenge past wrongs.

@hetaliankiba2 said: ☕️ how did you feel about devilman crybaby if you watched it? And the miki's as characters, hopefully these are fun ones!
Overall I really liked Devilman Crybaby, though it’s hard to love wholeheartedly bc it’s so flawed lol. Basically I watched the first half up to I think episode 6, then went “idk if I’m gonna finish this, it’s really not my thing.” Then I accidentally got spoiled about miki/miki and that motivated me to finish it. The second half of the show more than made up for the first half imo lol, I sobbed throughout the entire last 2 episodes, and then I rewatched it shortly after to check out the English dub.
So basically I think it was a very effective tragedy that kind of started off obnoxiously as hell lol. I’m not a fan of Miko’s whole sexual assault subplot, not a fan of Sirene’s portrayal, really not a fan of the rapey Akira/Sirene fight. I also rolled my eyes a little at how ryokira and mikimiki were a void of sexualization compared to everything else in the show being hypersexualized.
That said I didn’t mind some of the edginess, it fits the vibe and the reputation of the source material. I also dug the exaggerated animation a lot.
I adored Ryo in it - he’s obviously very different from the manga, and like, honestly he feels sort of like a version of the archetype original Ryo spawned, yk? I can see that being considered a bad thing, but I felt like this version of Ryo worked very well with the emotional focus of the adaption. This version of the story is about Ryo learning to love lol, so yeah it’s fine that he starts off cold and distant with Akira as his only emotional attachment imo. It’s not trying to be a faithful adaption. And boy does it make his final monologue impactful as hell.
I didn’t really like Akira in it on the other hand. His whole character felt kind of silly to me, and hard to take seriously. He’s just kind of there, crying all the time in ways I found offputting and unlikeable rather than endearing lol.
Miki and Miko were both great imo! I enjoyed how they changed Miki’s character, I thought she worked very well for the show and its themes. She was likeable and believable as a mundane but genuinely pretty great person imo, and Crybaby has the only version of her death that made me sad, like I was weeping lol. And I adored how she brotherzoned Akira over and over and then turned out to be gay in contrast to her original crush on Akira lol, amazing change, a+++, every adaption should take this route with the third wheel fridged love interest.
Miko was also a good change from the manga imo, from devilman design to general character and role. Again the gratuitous sexual assault was pretty unnecessary, but I love her inferiority complex, her subplot w/ people actively trying to become devilmen was interesting, and ofc I love that she was in love with Miki. Their final scene was so good.
I mean it sucks that they both die right after the love confession, but in a show where every character except one dies I feel like it’s fine and effectively tragic, not homophobic.
Ty again for the ask!
send me a ☕️ and a topic and i’ll talk about how i feel about it

Fave eps of the 63 astroboy anime?
Okay, so I'm only at episode 55 out of i think 109 in the english dub, but I can tell you my faves so far!
this got real long real fast, so I'm putting it under a readmore :3c
-episode 11, 'Strange Voyage' I've talked a lil' bit about this one before, but I'll elaborate. I think this episode is tastefully dark, but has some really great sweeter moments as well. Like when Louie(?) agrees to watch Marble, and then... proceeds to do so. He's never mean to her, and while he's not kind, he's willing to talk with her. Also Astro decides that keeping the little girl away from the notorious criminal is unnecessary, and decides that she and the criminal should play chess instead. As for darker moments, the ending and this particular line come to mind
Tumblr media
and then Marble, who is like 5, claims that there must be a heaven for robots, because Astro deserves to go to heaven. Also they try to kill a man by shoving him out the airlock. But yeah, if you're looking to decide whether or not this show is worth it, check out this episode
-episode 7, 'Zero, the Invisible Robot' So this is the Denkou episode, and for some reason they made him a gorgeous man that I'm in love with. But he's named Zero here. I don't know what else to say that hasn't been said, other than I maybe teared up a lil'. Don't judge me. I'm a sucker for 'I just want to be good/do a good job' type characters (which is why I'm also a fan of bobo and abra cadabra) and I think it's really funny that they were like 'we have to make him BEAUTIFUL' and he's only visible for like 5 seconds total.
-episode 53, 'Dogma Palace' This episode is absolutely dumb as dogshit and I'm completely obsessed with it. It seems like it's gonna be cool and dark and in the last like 7 minutes you find out that everything's all fucked cuz the king was like 'o ye i used 2 keep bees! My favourite bee was this fucked-up evil one from outer space that liked to mind control people!' and he did not see how this could have ever gone wrong. May I recite to you the greatest lines of dialogue in tv history?
*while panning over freed child slaves* "You can be a king who believes in life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness!" "Yes. I'll start a new country, a country without slaves, or monsters, or super-bees!"
also the king is named 'El Doopy' and his elite task force are the Super Troupers
-episodes 44 and 45, 'The Heart of Cleopatra' It's another 'I want to be Good but I am forced to be Bad episode, with the added bonus of being Cleopatra-themed. Also it was bizarre but heartwarming to see Muslims and Islam being treated (somewhat) respectfully in a cartoon from 1963. Like they were literally just praying. It might not have been *tactful* bc this show has never heard of tact in its life, but I don't think it was *offensive* and it certainly wasn't mean-spirited
-Episode 10, 'The Spirit Machine'
Tumblr media
-Episode 52, 'The Snow Lion' I had been looking forward to this episode after hearing that the 80's version was batshit, and I was NOT disappointed. The main villain is this little space wizard man with a flying lion made of snow, except the snow is alive and eats energy, and also apparently the wizard called in the girl scouts to help him invade earth. Sadly, the girl scouts were never seen.
like right in the middle there's this fucking somber as hell scene where Elefun hold's Astro's lifeless body, and he says 'I'll put you in the robot hall of fame if it's the last thing I do.' and so we get a 30 second long sequence of Elefun somberly walking down the halls of the robot hall of fame with Astro in his arms, until he reaches a pedestal. He then sets Astro up, and goes 'at least we can face the end together' and kneels down and rests himself on the pedestal, and fucking. just sits and waits to die.
And then some stuff happens and we get back to astro fighting a flying space lion made of snow.
~
Thank you for the ask! This was really fun~ I know I tend to ramble a lot lol, but I hope this gave you some insight into what sort of stuff I like!

v-force episode 4!
are there other things i could be doing with my time? of course. totally. 100%. but i’m here anyway and i want to finish this season so i’m back at it again.
also im not going to be including as many pictures as i did for the last three episodes, it makes the posts too long.
starting off, kenny has actually apparently been kidnapped? that’s pretty dark for only the fourth episode.
tyson has a weird reaction to a pay phone?? maybe it’ll be explained but that’s certainly new. it is interesting, i will say.
now THIS is a neat shot. with the dramatic shadow and the thick lines? truly excellent. really captures the drama! kinda wish they’d continued that onto the hands and the phone, but overall i really like this effect. perfect for a screencap redraw.
Tumblr media
this whole running around the town thing is oddly reminiscent of the few episodes kai had in the abbey back in season 1? especially with the guy + scientists watching tyson, it definitely has those vibes. the va also sounds pretty similar, but i know they reuse a lot of the english vas for the dub
so apparently tyson can run this fast bc he’s “harnessing the power of the bitbeast?” that’s....new. not unwelcome, though. maybe that means more bitbeast lore, which i could never say no too. i just hope the story actually expands on this instead of leaving it to that one throwaway line from the (probable) evil guy.
ozuma’s at the harbor, which is pretty odd. i thought he wasn’t in kahoots with the kidnappers, but maybe not? the show’s been pretty vauge about that. ALSO WHO’S DRIVING THE BOAT??
okay kenny’s got his glasses again for some reason? although i wouldn’t put it past him to carry around a backup pair.
WHAT?????????????
Tumblr media
eat your heart out boris????? what the fuck is this??????
THEY’RE ACTUALLY TRYING TO KILL KENNY AND HILLARY WHAT THE FUCK. WHAT THE FUCK what even is this episode
YOOOOOOOO DRAGOON’S BACK
okay never mind i think i spoke to soon
Tumblr media
NVM IT’S ALL GOOD he’s back hello dragoon it’s nice to see you again
i keep speaking too soon!!! things are not good they are bad apparently there’s only three more minutes in the episode idk what else they’re going to throw around
Tumblr media
okay so they’re paddling back to the harbor and ozuma is still there. has he just been hanging out the whole time? get a hobby.
final thoughts: honestly? this one wasn’t that bad! definitely a bit of a turn in terms of tone and plot from the first three, so maybe that means things are finally going to start picking up. the evil guy is definitely being evil, so it’ll be nice to find out what his whole deal is. and if he’s connected to ozuma in any way, but at this point, i don’t think so. it’s still a little early to tell for sure.
and i’ll continue to say it until he shows up, but where’s kai???? it’s so weird not seeing him. granted it’s only been 4 episodes but still. i miss him.

KnB Season 1 Dub Thoughts!
Finished watching the first season of KnB on Netflix sooo here are my personal thoughts on/reactions to the dub :3
In general:
Some of the voices started out iffy but they got better as the show progressed, I think
Probably the main problem was some of the Americanized pronunciations of the characters’ names but I’m guilty of doing the same in my head so- [plain text: but I’m guilty of doing the same in my head so-]
Also the lack of “-san”/“-chan”/“-kun” like now there’s no difference between Aomine’s and Momoi’s nicknames for Kuroko, for instance TwT (and Takao was calling Midorima “Shin-chan” at first but it seems they just shortened it to “Shin” in the end)
But all in all, it’s pretty decent imo!
Relishing the fact that I correctly predicted Kise’s and Momoi’s voice actors last year asdfghjkl [plain text: Relishing the fact that I correctly predicted Kise’s and Momoi’s voice actors last year asdfghjkl]
Kinda felt like I was watching KnB for the first time! Even though I actually already know the whole story and what’s coming, I’m glad I could (sort of) experience that initial thrill once again ☺️
As for some specific characters:
Kuroko: all I can say is Khoi Dao nails the soft-spoken voice (and Nigou’s barks) 😂 sounds practically how I thought he would!
Kagami: one of the voices that improved over time. Like it started not as “rough” as I was expecting, but that hotheaded voice that I imagined came soon enough. Still a little inconsistent here and there, but it’s not too bad
Seirin: they’re all good for the most part! Though, Tsuchida’s voice is higher than I thought it would be, and sadly it seems not all of Izuki’s puns could be translated (but I guess that was to be expected) 😭 also I had only ever heard Kiyoshi’s VA once before and it was as a villain so it took me a little getting used to lol
Riko: I always thought she’d sound like Chie Satonaka from the Persona 4 anime (voiced by Erin Fitzgerald), so I was a little surprised at the more.. mature(?)-sounding voice she officially has. But it sounds great~ Abby Trott was my voice claim for my KnB OC though so uhh guess I might have to change that ;w; [plain text: Abby Trott was my voice claim for my KnB OC though so uhh guess I might have to change that ;w;]
Kise: not.. quite what I imagined even though his VA is the one I figured would voice him. Expected it to be higher-pitched (his voice does go higher occasionally but like I thought that would be the case more often). It’s ok though, I suppose it kinda works for the more arrogant side of manga!Kise we don’t otherwise see *shrugs*
Midorima: ok I will say I almost spat my drink out the moment he first started speaking LOL [plain text: ok I will say I almost spat my drink out the moment he first started speaking LOL] his English voice isn’t as deep as what I’m used to, and he doesn’t seem to have a verbal tic like he does in Japanese (which is… a little disappointing, but ah well I didn’t even notice until the last few episodes >w<). Other than that though, it works I think? It suits his character and sounds closer to his age lmao and it’s kinda sexy in its own way yes I’m biased don’t @ me [plain text: and it’s kinda sexy in its own way yes I’m biased don’t @ me]
Aomine: tbh I had thought Ben Diskin would voice Takao (his voice as Caspar in FE3H is close to what I would’ve expected) xD I didn’t know he could pull off the voice that he did for Aomine but I’m glad he can bc it is perfect
Murasakibara: sounds more… laid back than bored? His usual voice could be a bit lower perhaps, but I guess I can see it working. Judging from the OVA (and from some of his previous work and knowing how versatile he is), Robbie Daymond can definitely pull off Mura when he’s angry so that’ll be interesting to see in S2 👀
Akashi: oook so his voice is probably the only one I’m really questioning like WHY IS IT SO DEEP [plain text: why is it so deep] 😭 it’s not that the voice by itself is bad or anything it just.. Does Not Fit (now if Akashi were taller then maybe but he’s a shorty) [plain text: (now if Akashi were taller then maybe but he’s a shorty)]. Buuut I’m willing to give it a chance, maybe I just need to hear more of him
Regardless of any flaws, I’m sure the cast is doing their best and working hard to breathe new life into these characters and bring the show to a wider audience, and I’m excited to see what they do with the remaining seasons! Here’s to the KnB fandom’s revival 🏀❤️

rebecca watches tos: bread and circuses
seeking out a destroyed ship, can’t wait for this to go south
looks like earth
it’s exactly like earth. wonder what the chances of that one are
do. do they not have tv in the 23rd century
oh christ it’s an evil slaver planet
with gladiators
oh so the crash-landed survivors were dubbed barbarians?
now they’re doing a silly little jog down a mountain. someone get me that tumblr post about it
there’s a bit of schmutz on the camera and I just wiped my screen bc I thought it was on my computer lmao
if the prime directive is in effect is it really a good idea to bring an obvious alien along with you
why are they always comparing spock to satan I really don’t see the resemblance
convenient english-speaking human-looking aliens, as always
“I call them ears” I love Spock
alright so it’s weird modern-ish english-speaking rome
“our way is peace” isn’t there slavery
ohhh ok these people are the slaves, or at least were
and they worship the sun?
prime directive: violated
oh nvm he’s telling them it’s a water ship lmao
and now it’s violated
so worshipping the sun is illegal or something
ohhh ok so the people who crashed here violated the prime directive first
romans had no sun worship? I’ll take Bones’s word for that
ig it does seem strange for that to be the only difference between them and actual rome
return of the spock hats!!!
and off comes the hat
alright so they’re being taken as gladiators?
I love the guard seeing this random ass prisoner asking to see the emperor
“Medical men are trained in logic” “I assumed it was trial and error” I love these two so much
they have a very talkative sun
bones took to faking sick very quickly for someone who wasn’t informed of it beforehand
good for him
and now spock has a sword
and there’s a lot more guards waiting for them, so much for that
oh and here’s merik
or merikus as he’s dubbed himself
I can’t think of any facts that’ll make this less judgable
spock world wars are bad but that doesn’t exactly make this situation better
christ now they want enterprise personnel in the game
why does this guy have a southern accent
kirk does not summon the personnel down and he has No Regrets
ohhhh it’s a code! good move having one of those
so now scotty’s gonna terrorize the romans
good for him
these are the fakest fucking weapons and shields my god I love this show
ohhh all the audience reactions are faked
it’s also the fakest fucking fight but that one makes sense
jim pretending he won’t do anything to fix a no-win scenario
bones is doing very Not Good
and spock has broken the Rules
jimothy you self-sacrificing bastard
ooh hot lady in weird clothes
jim do not fuck the slave
spock’s out here trying to just physically bend the bars
isn’t it illogical to keep trying when it isn’t working?
thanking spock is the hardest thing bones has ever done
dammit spock just take the thanks
bones really just psychoanalyzed spock and laid him bare
ok I can see why people ship them this scene is kinda intimate
dammit jim I said DON’T fuck the slave
getting some last-meal vibes though
ah yep it was a last-meal thing
and now he dies
ofc he won’t actually die bc he’s james tiberius kirk but that’s not the point
time for his execution, but the power’s gonna go out and ofc they’re not gonna do it without an audience so kirk will have time to do a grand escape
oh nope flavius saved him lmao
that’s one way of opening a lock
merik was like “fuck this shit I’m out” but it did not work
ohhh they weren’t sun-worshippers they were christians
but for some reason christianity happened much later than it did in reality
this certainly was an episode! nothing like a planet inexplicably identical to earth
