TV Recommendation: The Spirealm

No one knows where The Spirealm came from. A VR game, it appeared on the market with unknown origins, and was quickly banned worldwide after all players went insane, vanished, or died in strange circumstances.

Ling Jiushi is freshly unemployed. Depressed and lonely, he throws himself further and further into gaming, until he comes across the urban myth of The Spirealm.

A field of snow, a pack of wolves going for the kill. Ling Jiushi cannot pass even the first level of the game before the bootleg copy he's found locks down and won't let him in again.

Then the hallucinations start. His reflection vanishes from mirrors, he sees the wolf in the streets or feels the bite of snow. One day, everyone around him vanishes, and he sees only a door in front of him - then is brought back to reality when he's nearly run over by a car.

Eventually, Ling Jiushi manages to get his hands on a real copy of The Spirealm, and he becomes the latest victim of the game.

Because the Spirealm isn't exactly a game. It's more... a doorway to Hell.

Once the doors appear, you have no choice but to play. Ling Jiushi is drawn into a snowy field with a wolf charging- and is saved by the mysterious and alluring Ruan Lanzhu.

Every Door is different, and draws in around a dozen people to play. Some veterans, some rookies like Ling Juishi.

The goal is to solve the mystery of the Door, defeat the Door Guard, and avoid triggering the Taboo Conditions of that specific Door- anything from "two people cannot look at the same time" to "no loud noises".

Violate a taboo condition, the Door will kill you. And count yourself lucky if it even tells you what the taboo conditions are first.

Ruan Lanzhu is a veteran player who professionally guides rookies in the game- and he has his sights set now on Ling Jiushi.

Once you start playing The Spirealm, the only way to stop is to die in the game or to solve 12 Doors. Something that has never been done before- with an infinite possibility of Doors, there are no repeats. Ruan Lanzhu's only goal is to close the doors and destroy the game once and for all, freeing everyone held in the game's unnatural grasp.

As months pass both inside and outside the doors, Ruan Lanzhu and Ling Jiushi grow closer and closer.

Who is Ruan Lanzhu? Why did the usually cold and distant man immediately help Ling Jiushi survive his first Door?

Can they find a way to end the game and destroy it forever?

And which world is real anymore?

Three years ago, a love story ended in disaster.

Helian Xi, Young Master of the mysterious and magical Linchuan people, opened his kingdom and his heart to the beautiful princess Feng Yuan. Marrying an outsider was supposed to be a show of progress and diplomacy- a sign that Linchuan was willing to engage with the outside world.

On their wedding day, Helian Xi gave Feng Yuan a piece of Linchuan's sacred Twinned Tree, a promise between lovers to live and die for one another.

But Feng Yuan was not as pure or as kind as she pretended to be. She betrayed her new husband, aiding in his capture and torture before she personally drove a blade through his heart.

Recommendations for brands of dinnerware (plates and bowls and such)?

I see a lot on Amazon that I think are pretty and have good reviews, but a lot are obscure or off brands, and those tend to disappear pretty fast.

If I want to buy matching platters or more of something, it's easier to have a brand with a real, solid brand behind it.

For example, my mother is a lifelong devotee of Corelle. Getting platters or replacement plates is easy, they are a strong national brand.

I don't want corelle. I dont see anything there that interests me. I want to explore wider options that suit me more aesthetically, but still have that convenience of having a solution if something breaks or if I need more of anything...

I don't know what to look for...

I found a Cdrama that is basically a xianxia (ancient fantasy china) Hades and Persephone.

Her symbol is the pomegranate. First time she has it is when he gives it to her. His people all died because she left, making him king of a dead and barren land. If she returns it will bloom again.

He's always in winter and cold, there are always blooming flowers in her shots.

It's Hades and Persephone if Hades also carried a grudge against Persephone.

It's all based on that ancient, misogynistic, puritanical belief that "worthy" women will be innocent and unnoticed yet beautiful virgins "discovered", guided, and trained by male sexual partners.

(Dis)Honorable Mention to the "Blood Equals Worth" crowd where a poor girl in love with a rich aristocrat finds out some secret of ancestry makes her his social equal or superior, while someone raised in aristocracy who turns out to have "poor" blood will fall from grace end end up in the gutter. A popular staple of British high literature.

Almost done helping my father with laying laminate in the computer room.

2 more pieces of floor at the back of the closet, then we lay and paint the quarter-round to attach to the baseboards for about half the room, then the OTHER half looks exactly the same as the quarter round, but it is hollow to pass a CAT8 (internet hard-line) to the far side of the room (there are 3 computers that live there).

I'll also be handling the auxiliary stuff this PM as we load everything back in- cleaning the computers, setting them up, getting the cable wraps on, changing the wheels on all 3 computer chairs to rubber ones, etc.
