Want to take a sec to compare some aspects of all the different doctor who show runners to try and explain why I’m so excited for the return of Russell T Davies. This isn’t me trying to say that his era is the only good era or that he’s the only good writer, just why I’m excited for his return to DW.
Chibnall:
- lots of his stories are set on earth in the modern day and there is limited exploration of other planets.
-Many of his characters feel underused and one dimensional. For example, the introduction to Dan in series 13 was great and gave Dan a great personality, but then he had very little to do and was not missed when he left TPOTD after 10 minutes. He mostly served as comic relief and to ask the doctor questions.
-The timeless child story arc made very little sense and was a bad idea.
- very mixed bag in terms of monster design and use. I liked some of the Dalek stories quite a bit though
Moffat:
- his characters had interesting personalities (Clara is not to my taste but that’s just me) but they often had no backstory and very little to ground them in reality. They feel like fairytale people plucked from thin air. They do get plenty to do throughout their stories but they are always Special TM which again leaves them ungrounded.
-absolutely wasted use of Daleks and Cybermen. I loved Missy though, her character arc in series 10 was amazing.
-some of the best episodes of the show are written by Moffat. No matter your opinion of him as a show runner, he was definitely a great episode writer.
-fun alien concepts (especially the silence) and fun exploration of other worlds.
- series arcs were often confusing and a little nonsensical but they were fun and kept me watching anyway.
Davies:
- great characters with backstories, families, lives outside of their life with the doctor, and a strong grounding in reality. Compare Rose to Ryan in terms of what you know about her life outside of the doctor. She is flawed and human and not special at all. She saves the world by doing a stupid human thing and has to get saved, it’s a great scene.
- interesting alien worlds and ideas, although mostly from series 2 onwards.
- mixed bag with alien inventions but some truly great ones like the devil, the judoon, and the family of the blood. Handles classic villains well and keeps them scary by not using them too much. His version of the cybermen used to give me nightmares.
- great series arcs that make sense even if they have some slightly questionable endings.
Neither of the three were perfect and all made some entertaining TV with some fun ideas and characters. When it comes down to it I really don’t think people have stopped watching because they didn’t like a woman doctor or an old doctor or whatever nonsense. They have stopped watching because the writing was inconsistent and ungrounded. I’m my opinion Davies handles show running in its entirety the best, has characters that feel more grounded and relatable, and write great stories with great ideas without overusing classic villains. Like it or not, there is a reason his era was so popular and it wasn’t just because of David (although he is my favourite doctor). I’m hoping Davies can continue what he started while creating something entirely new with Ncuti and bringing back viewers who have left.

201101 Woohyun’s Instalive
He has been home all day today. He received many letters from fans when he was at the military training camp. He left with 10 boxes full of letters and he read them all.
He watches fan-made YouTube videos (cute!!!) Recently, he watched a video on how elementary school kids reacted to Infinite videos. They said Myungsoo is handsome, and Woohyun's voice is good. Woohyun often watches translator_dw's videos. He thinks she edits videos very well. (OMG?! she’s so luckyyyy! I just saw her twt she said ‘is this a dream’ TT anyway deserved! she does a way better job at promoting infinite than woollim)
He also said that’s a nice ID...since we never know what dongwoo is saying ‘translator dw’ is appropriate lmaooooooo
At the military training camp, he made friends with other trainees and they were younger than him, he was the oldest at the training camp. They still keep in touch. He got together with them about 3 times since he came back from the training camp.
A fan wanted to get a job at Woollim and she wanted him to wish her the best. He did and said there are many other good companies other than Woollim. (LMAOOOO YES we are on the same page namu)
A fan asked how he thinks about Drippin, and he thinks they are very cool, and it reminds him of their debut times because one of the member looks so much like one of the Infinite members. (Myungsoo and Cha something I think)
A fan asked if he will sing more ToHeart songs after he comes back from the military. He likes ToHeart songs but he hasn’t talked to Key very often lately.
He said to have killer abs, you need to have less than 10% body fat.
A fan said she debuted as a singer. He congratulated and said now he's her senior.
He is the type that doesn't really care much about what others do unless they are Infinite members. (in other words don’t ask him about other groups)
He wants to do a fan meet after the pandemic is over
He actually wanted to become a soccer player.
His dad really likes to go to Noraebang (karaoke) to sing so he often went there both with his family and his friends since he was very young.
He realized he sings very well and he can make others happy by singing. It was before the period that his voice broke. His voice broke when he was about 16 yrs old. He had that period very late. He didn't know his voice was like that because his voice broke. He was frustrated because he couldn't sing as he wanted.
A fan asked what he wants to be if he hasn't become a singer. He said he wants to become her boyfriend ( 🙄ok namgrease time to turn this off now)
He likes whiskey. He only drinks whiskey these days but he doesn't drink often these days. He prefers soju to beer or the mix of soju and beer.
To do well at work, you should read what others think etc. Always do your best even it is a very small task. Don't be afraid before you even challenge yourself to do something you want to do.
A fan asked for his recommendation for her ceramicware shop's name. He said "Sweetie Sweetie Ceramic Ware" (Chagi means sweetie in Korean, and Dochaji means ceramic wares.) Fans recommended some other names as Woohyun asked. He'll search the names to see if she actually opens a shop with one of those names. He hasn't tried making ceramicwares, so he will stop by later to learn.
He does 16:8 intermittent fasting and he thinks it's the best way to lose or maintain your weight. It's all about making the right choices when you're in your early 20s.
As a song that will cheer you up, he chose "Hold on Me."
He's worried about the fan who's doing a part-time job now because it's late.
His acting got much better since Hi School Love on. He learned a lot about acting and had much fun while filming the drama. The basketball CG wasn't his idea but the director's. There are many good scenes, but many people only remember that scene.
The concept he wants to have for his new solo album is rock. (YES PLEASE)
He really enjoyed Kinky Boots. It was so much fun and the numbers were great. He almost cried. Sunggyu's acting was great.
He's still a dumpling (mandoo). He asked if the fan likes dumplings because he asked him if he's still a dumpling.
The title of the book he read at the beginning of the IG Live, is "You who looks like the moon". He said it's a great book to read before you go to bed. A fan gave the book to him before.
A fan asked what kind of character she should design, and he told her to make a character of him. He doesn't know what to wear tomorrow. He always decides what to wear to work in the morning.
He will stay at home this Christmas.  He is too sleepy and needs to go to work tomorrow and shared several selfies.

25 Days of FicMas
December 12th prompt: Baking Cookies
Word Count: 1,679
Don't go near the oven...
So I tried something in this prompt...tell me what you think! Sorry about any typos! Love you all! *HUGS*
-H❤🖖
John Kennex walked out of the sliding doors of the emergency room grumpily, a white bandage decorating his head. He stopped short upon seeing you, “I thought I left Dorian out here,” he said walking up to you. Looking at the bandage you gave John a sympathetic look, “you did. I was sent to relieve him and keep an eye on you for the next twenty-four hours.” you said smirking at Kennex’s growing irritation. “I don’t need a babysitter,” he said trying to make it seem like he was perfectly fine. It would have worked too if an ambulance didn’t screech loudly to a stop by the emergency entrance making John flinch in pain. “Oh yeah, you’re just peachy,”  you muttered dryly opening the passenger side door of your car for the stubborn man. John scowled but didn’t say anything as he got into the car, slamming the door shut you sighed heavily “this is going to be fun,”
Parking in your designated spot in front of your apartment building, “(Y/N) I’m fine. I’m perfectly capable of being alone in my own apartment,” John said with a roll of his eyes. You just hummed and got out of the car completely ignoring Kennex’s protests; you yanked open the passenger side door. John was about to complain again but he choked on it; groaning John moved so he was sitting facing you, head between his knees. “Deep breaths,” you soothed rubbing Kennex’s back in slow deliberate circles. After a long minute, John lifted his head ever so slightly, “sorry I’m okay,” he whispered face pale. You gave him a small smile as you helped him from the car, “what happened anyway? Dorian never told me,” you asked as you looped an arm through John’s so he could lean on you. Kennex scowled at the thought of his day, “murder suspect decided he wanted to defend himself with a toaster oven,” he muttered.
You snorted and burst into a fit of giggles, “the great detective Kennex defeated by a toaster oven,” you laughed bending slightly at the waist. John gave you a half-hearted glare, “it was a big oven, and not to mention he jumped me!” he said defensively. He smirked your laugh making him oddly happy. You both walked through the small lobby over to the elevators in comfortable silence; you mentally sorted through your holiday checklist. ‘I guess I can still make the cookies tonight. I just have to keep a close eye on John,’ you thought biting your lip absentmindedly.
John looked down at you as you stared off into space; his mind went blank as you bit your lip. ‘What are you doing moron?’ the voice in his head hissed, he snapped his head forward when the elevator dinged and opened. Once in the elevator, you kept a close eye on John who had let you go to lean against the back wall. He closed his eyes, not because he felt sick or dizzy but because being in such a confined space with you was intense and he’s never felt anything like it before. Not even with Anna. He heard the ding of the elevator but didn’t move from his spot, “John are you feeling okay?” you asked concern coloring your voice. John cleared his throat, “Yeah I’m good,” he whispered opening his eyes. He looked at you as if he were seeing you for the very first time; holding elevator doors open you give a sweet smile. “We’re almost there and then you can lay down for a while if you’d like,” she said as Kennex entered the twelfth-floor hallway. He gave you a simple smile, “ I’m not sure I could get any sleep,” he said honestly. You tilted your head biting your lip again; John could only assume you did this when you were thinking. “Well I’m going to be doing some baking tonight, you can keep me company if you’d like,” you offered coming to a stop in front of a door labeled 27B.
John chuckled, “you bake?” he asked incredulously eyebrows almost disappearing into his hairline. You laughed nervously as you unlocked your front door, “yeah I don’t do it often but I’m hosting Christmas this year so…” you trailed off with a shrug of your shoulders. Kennex hummed moving carefully in the dark entryway; you flicked on the lights revealing your humble abode. The entry opened up to an open concept living and dining room, and kitchen. A brightly lit Christmas tree stood proudly in the corner presents scattered underneath it. John let out a low whistle at the size of the place making you chuckle, “I got the place cheap. Triple homicide a few years ago, the landlord didn’t want to deal with it so he sold it to me,” you said with a small smile. Kennex looked at you cutely, “wow,” he muttered shaking his head. He shrugged off his coat and hung it up next to yours. “I couldn’t pass the place up I guess,” you sighed leading the way to the kitchen.
“Damn I wish I was that lucky,” John laughed sitting down at the high countertop. He watched as you bustled around the kitchen gathering ingredients for whatever it was you were going to make. “Are you hungry at all?” you asked gazing at the time. John grimaced, “I’d rather not,” he mumbled. ‘Later you should try eating something small,” you said quietly opening the refrigerator and rummaging for a moment. Pulling out a bottle of water you cracked the top. Setting it down in front of John you opened a drawer and pulled out a small bottle, “(Y/N) I’m fine,” John said but you placed two little white pills in front of him anyway. “It’ll help with the headache,” you said watching as he took the medicine. Once they were gone you continued on with your task; “what are you making?” John asked sipping his water. Looking up from an old cookbook you smirked, “Christmas cookies,” you said in a sing-song voice. Kennex bent over the counter, “now you have my undivided attention,” he said making you grin wickedly. “Come here,” you said jerking your head. John furrowed his brows but did as he was asked; sliding off of the stool he rounded the counter and stood just behind you and leaned over your shoulder to take a look at the ancient cookbook, “It belonged to my mother,” you whispered tapping the yellowed pages affectionately. You could feel John’s breath brush your cheek, “she must have cooked a lot,” he said looking down at you. Smiling sadly you nodded. “Oh yeah, she would go all out for holidays and birthdays,” looking up at the man your breath caught. He was a lot closer than you initially thought; cheeks reddening you turned again to grab a mixing bowl from the drying rack by the sink. ‘Come on (Y/N) keep it together! You made a promise to keep your thoughts clean,’ you screamed silently to yourself. Turning back with the bowl you watched as John leaned into the counter reading your mother’s cookbook giving you the perfect view of his ass. ‘Damnit,’
()(()()()()()()()()()()()()()
John stared wide-eyed at your now blackened oven, “I am so sorry,” he said almost frantically. This is complete dismay you burst into giggles with the look, John was giving you, you covered your mouth trying to stifle the laughter. “Oh wow, Dorian wasn’t kidding when he said you couldn’t make anything but instant ramen,” you sighed and examined your new frothy white and black oven. The fire extinguisher sat dutifully by your feet. “I’ll pay for a new one…” John offered wincing. You waved your hand, “I’ve been meaning to get a new one,” biting your lip you thought about how far it might set you back. “Consider it a Christmas gift,” John suggested and you shook your head. “It’s fine really John I can handle it,”
John narrowed his eyes hand reaching toward the open bag of flour, “(Y/N) let me buy you a new oven,” he said for the last time. Eying the concussed detective you smirked and shook your head again, “sorry can’t do it Kennex. You’re no longer allowed near ovens. Toaster or otherwise,” you muttered. Before you knew it you were covered in flour; glaring you grabbed a fistful from the bag. John laughed holding up his hands. “Let’s talk about this…” but of course you ignored it. After throwing your handful of white powder you turned to run; unfortunately, you weren’t fast enough. Kennex grabbed your waist and dragged you back towards him. Squealing in surprise you twisted around, your sock-covered slipped and slid on the flour-covered floor. Gasping you fell backward dragging John with you.
You landed hard on your back while John landed painfully on his knees so he wouldn’t crush you, “well that happened,” you chuckled wincing at the slight pain in your tailbone. John hovered above you dark hazel eyes glimmering mischievously in the shadow of the kitchen counter. The look he was giving you made your breath hitch, he gently cupped your cheek keeping his movements slow and cautious. Leaning in closer his nose brushed up against yours, you reached up your hand and brushed it through his hair causing the flour stuck in it to sprinkle to the floor like snow. His eyes never left yours as he leaned in further bringing his lips to yours. The kiss was tender at first before it became more urgent causing you to pull him even closer. Twisting your fingers into his hair, John growled trying to keep his balance over you with one hand firmly planted on the cold tile floor by your head. Pulling apart you took a deep breath, chest heaving you removed one of your hands from John’s hair and cupped his cheek. He leaned into it before gently taking it in his own. Intertwining them he touched his forehead to yours, “I’m still buying you that oven,” he whispered before capturing your lips again.

PSI THOUGHTS 2: THE ELECTRIC BOOGALOO
Aka time to share some thoughts on the profile blurbs and participate in some wild speculation
(Quickly though I just wanted to say that the new outfits are fine but there is something weird to me about them... It’s like this weird mix of taking the original designs, trying to modernize them while also keeping them looking the same and it like... It feels like they tried to Adventure-fy the old designs it somehow made the kids look like background extras of their own show?? IDK maybe it’s just nostalgic bias or something lmao. But yeah the kids look fine, I wish they had left Mimi’s hat pink and... Man they really did Koushirou a dirty, eh. He really looks awful in that outfit holy shit)
When it comes to the kids I actually don’t have much to say about them- they kinda sound like parodies/abridged versions of themselves from Adventure, like the way they call Mimi a “princess”, which kind of sounds like someone saw her childlike innocence from Adventure and figured all there is to Mimi is that she’s a whiny little brat (/”princess”). I am jumping to conclusions here but rn I feel like tri. had a better understanding of the characters than Psi, but then again Psi doesn’t have to stay through to Adv.’s characterization.
The only things I found worth mentioning were that Hikari indeed seems to have a sixth sense so she seems to still be the DigiJesus (or, well, techinically they made it sound like Hikari has a tendency to astral project but whatever lmao). But in a twist, based on Takeru’s profile he too may have that sixth sense! 8O And ngl I am very excited to see where they’re going with that
EDIT: I misread a good portion of the blurb, ignore the next these paragraphs lmao (leaving it here for people to laugh at tho)
Also; They mention Takeru lives apart from “his brother” due to “circumstances”... Now either these profiles are vague and cheeky because the writers don’t want to spoil to any kids that Takeru and Yamato are brothers whose parents divorced, OR... A) They are brothers but their parents aren’t divorced (yet) or B) They’re not brothers at all (they don’t have the same last names after all) and Takeru has another brother he lives away from for some reason.
I mean I do think it’s most likely the writers are being cheeky and trying to not spoil things for the kids, but the fact they didn’t mention Yamato being Takeru’s brother at all is super interesting to me.
ONTO THE DIGIMON, again, not much to say about the most of them. They did confirm the Adult form of every Digimon so my hopes of branching evolution trees has been smothered a bit but not killed yet, not entirely- it is still possible they could get new Perfect level forms and/or multiple Perfect forms. Or Ultimate (depending on how Psi will treat levels, like for all we know they could ditch the level system again like Frontier and Xros Wars did)
BUT THERE’S THREE THINGS WORTH NOTING IN THOSE PROFILES! The Great War, no mention of Angemon, and Tailmon.
Some people immidiately started speculating about a multiverse/AU theory from the mention of the War and how Agumon knew Taichi but considdering the other things mentioned in the profiles I doubt this is the same Agumon from Adventure... Unless it was specifically Agumon and Agumon alone while all the other Digimon were from this universe specifically. But still, I don’t think there’s any multiverse stuff going on here, Agumon just pulled a Hikarigaoka-esque stunt at some point but nobody remembers it, probably
The mention of the “old Internet” (and the war that happened there) makes me wonder if they’re going to pull an X-Antibody-esque kinda storyline with Yggdrasil or something where instead of a Digital World being destroyed, it’s the Network? Who knows, there’s only so much you can speculate based on a handful of words
Patamon totally evolves into Angemon, I think they’re just being cheeky about it and Angemon is like a “legendary warrior” and some shit like that, it’s totally gonna be like that and I’m sure he’ll die just like he did in the past
BUT WHAT’S REALLY INTERESTING FOR ME IS TAILMON
TAILMON WON’T JOIN THE KIDS/HIKARI, SHE’S JUST BEING MYSTERIOUS AND SHIT, LIKE REI IN APPMON
Now that’s a trope old as kids’ shows, but it’s still interesting due to its implications.
Tailmon could be a lone wolf because she’s on a secret mission. She could be a lone wolf because she has some issues. She could be a lone wolf because she’s teamed up with the enemy and is either playing Taichi and co into a trap, or she’s having second thoughts and is kinda two-timing the Chosen and the enemy
There’s many options, and it’s very interesting to see what they’re going to do
And if Tailmon is working for the enemy... Who is it?
There isn’t much left to discuss here actually... The enemies we see in the new trailer kind of remind me of the Virusmon in Appmon, but they look a bit... off? IDK maybe it’s just this weird whiplash of the old Digimon looking weird to the new enemies with more modern designs. That said I wouldn’t be surprised (and I would be a bit happy actually) if those new enemies from the trailer were not Digimon, but they probably are, and I’m sure we’ll find out what species they are
Now one last thing I found interesting about the trailer (which is definitely giving me that Hunters/Appmon feeling rn) is that we definitely see the kids entering the Internet in it (the Internet having that very DigiQuarts/AR Field look to it).
The thing is, we had it already confirmed way back that there is a Digital World, it’s the green foresty thing on the poster. So it’s going to be interesting to see how they’ll handle the Digital World- it already sounded a lot like to me that the kids could travel with ease from the Human World to (what has now been confirmed to be) the Internet, so how that’ll extend to the DW is interesting. Is it going to be like like how the Deep Web worked in Appmon where once you go deep enough you’ll find the DW?
So will we see a lot of the DW or will the show take mostly place on the Internet with very limited visits to the DW?
(Unrelated but hilariously that was kind of what I always expected Appmon would do, like they’d go deep into the Net Ocean and find themselves in the Digital World (with Digimon specifically) and I was sad nothing like that ever happened so it’s gonna be surreal and hilarious if that’s exactly what Psi does)
And.... I think that’s it? I can’t think of any other things to briefly discuss, I ran out of disjointed thoughts
I’m expecting Psi to be either pretty decent or an absolute, flaming trainwreck and if it’s the latter it’s gonna be hilarious to watch and my popcorn is ready for it

Now that we're on this hiatus, do you mind telling us what you thought of each episode?
Okay, I know I’m super late to answer this but here I am! I’m not gonna go too in depth on them, but I do want to talk about them.
Treasure of the Found Lamp!
This one was amusing, and I absolutely love what they did with Djinn. I’m so so so glad they changed his name, too, as “Dijon” always bothered me, even as a kid. Also, the story of the lamp was very heartwarming! And seeing Selene again was fun, especially as she had to run around and we find out she’s a terrible liar lol (so she definitely had nothing to do with Della’s disappearance, I think we can all finally put that theory to rest).
The wild goose chase aspect was funny, coming from both sides, and I still think the actress on Ma Beagle’s TV looked vaguely like a character from PKNA so. But Djinn did not pull punches and them Beagles at least got hurt XD
Also. It kinda has a “the greatest treasure is family” vibe to it.
The Outlaw Scrooge McDuck!
As someone who loves Scrooge and loves Goldie, but is indifferent to Scroldie… I still loved this episode. It was great! It was also absolutely hilarious. And Gyro’s time traveling was amazing. Especially Scrooge’s sudden moment of realization when Gyro returned lol.
Louie’s gonna befriend Goldie! That makes me excited. I bet they’re gonna teach each other things that we haven’t even thought of (ie Louie values his family, while Goldie doesn’t even have a family. Maybe Goldie will officially join the Duck-McDuck family not through her strange but obviously antagonistically-romantic relationship with Scrooge, but through her friendship with and tutelage of Louie? Maybe he’s the one who shows her the importance of family and offers her a place in their family… it doesn’t mean giving up adventure, it just means always having somewhere she can call home, and people she can trust and rely on!).
I’m iffy about Jeeves’ redesign, and also his somewhat betrayal of Rockerduck, but I’ve never been like a hardcore fan of the two of them so it was easy for me to move on. I am curious, though, just how they’re gonna come back… guess Gyro’s not quite done with time travel shenanigans.
The only real gripe I have is Sheriff Marshal Cabrera. DON’T GET ME WRONG, I absolutely loved him. He’s a beautiful babby boy. But at the same time, he’s literally just. Fenton. I know he’s like. Fenton’s great grandfather (or maybe uncle, idk) or something. There should absolutely be similarities yes, but it felt like someone had taken the characters and placed them in an old west setting. That being said, I do love him, I just wish he’d been slightly more his own character. Like, maybe a little more like a mix of M’Ma and Fenton! Idk.
The 87 Cent Solution!
…….. You really want to know?
Okay, the episode was good. It was funny, and I enjoyed seeing Glomgold’s timestop shenanigans.
But the funeral scene? That wasn’t cool. I saw the “not really dead” twist coming, I think we all did, but no one thought to tell Donald? Donald thought that, so soon after finally making amends with his uncle, he had lost him for good.
And I get it. It’s meant to be a gag. It’s supposed to be funny. But it kinda really soured the rest of the episode for me. I hate to say that too, because it was a good and funny episode… I just… I can’t believe they did that to Donald. :(
The Golden Spear!
AGONY. Agony is how I feel about this one. Della made friends with the Lunarians! Actual friends! And then Penny made a bad choice, and Lunaris… damn you, Lunaris, you traitor.
All the things Della listed off, wanting to do with her kids and brother and uncle… they’re things the others have already done without her. That hit me in the feels.
AND THEN DONALD- AGH, I CAN’T EVEN. Poor Donald. He’s so stressed and his family loves him so much and just wanted him to have some peace. But alas, it was not to be. And now the fandom cries.
… Even if he really shouldn’t have climbed into that rocket but y’know. He didn’t MEAN to press buttons….
Nothing Can Stop Della Duck!
Della reunites with her boys and no one realizes Donald is gone. And we see Della trying to be a mom, and kinda failing miserably. But she’s trying, and she’s learning!
ALSO THEIR WOULD-BE NAMES HFBVSHKFCS
It really put to rest one of my biggest fears, that all of the triplets would accept her immediately (Louie showed serious hesitation through the entire episode, definitely coming from his place of insecurity that Dewey and Huey don’t share) and she’d be super-mom. She makes mistakes, and it’s acknowledged that she seems to be trying to be one of them rather than be their mother. It does feel awkward at times, and alien, like the boys are trying so hard to think she’s doing great when she’s really causing harm, but in the end when it comes down to it she’d do anything to protect them, and gives them the choice of letting her into their life. She doesn’t try and force her way in (as she kinda did at first, but came to realize this isn’t easy for them either).
Right now she feels kinda more like a cool aunt than a mom, but she’ll learn.
Raiders of the Doomsday Vault!
IS LUDWIG’S CONSCIOUS TRAPPED IN THE VAULT?! HE REACTED TO AND INTERACTED WITH THE PEOPLE OUTSIDE.
Anyway Scrooge and Glomgold’s parts were absolutely A+ hilarious. Della and Dewey bonding, they’re so much alike, but we see Dewey’s insecurity flare up- how he wants to impress Della, feeling like he has to earn her love. Even though she’s already loved them for ten years, even without ever knowing what they looked like.
Della has a moment of realization here, too. She looks down and realizes Dewey is in a dangerous situation. She realizes that Dewey is in danger. She questions if they’re doing something crazy, clearly thinking maybe we shouldn’t be doing this, but when Dewey quotes her “I’m your son, I can do anything!” she instead chooses to encourage him, not wanting to discourage him and possibly cause him to fall.
And then of course, her “exit strategy” thing. I honestly kinda feel like it’s a bit of an ass pull, but it at least makes a little sense. When you’re being hunted by a monster on the moon, you always want to have an escape route planned. Scrooge sees that, even if she’s the same ol’ Della she was before, she’s still changed. Ten years still changes you.
Friendship Hates Magic!
New Girl! New Girl! Violet’s pretty cool. At first she comes off as one of those “um, actually” people, but since I’m one of those “um, actually” people it’s pretty whatever to me lol. And Lena’s back! I’m super excited about that.
Lena gets a little jealous-possessive but who can blame her, Webby’s one of the few people who have always believed in her. And Webby spent so much time we never knew about trying to find ways to bring Lena back, to the point that it’s like clockwork.
The whole “being tormented by her own mind” thing was actually frightening in a way, and I’m just glad it all turned out alright. And now Webby isn’t just a fourth triplet, she’s the central member of her own trio. It’s great!
The Dangerous Chemistry of Gandra Dee!
Admittedly another plotline to be seen from far away. A good episode full of secondhand embarrassment, but dang Huey’s LUNGS.
I love Gandra’s design and personality. It’s pretty durn great. I love it! I just have one gripe. Warning, this is a bit of a rant.
Why can’t we let characters be feminine? By this I mean traditionally feminine. Dresses, makeup, shopping, high heels, giggling, soft and compassion and gentle and things I’m not, pinks and lilacs, etc. Yes, Webby’s favourite colour is pink and she likes glitter and wears skirts, she is pretty feminine. But she’s the only one, besides Roxanne Featherby (Featherly? I don’t remember, and that’s only arguably because of her clothes), to be even slightly feminine, and even then it can be argued she’s not all that traditionally feminine because, well… she’s the bruiser of the group. Which there’s absolutely nothing wrong with! A feminine bruiser absolutely works, and I love it, but looking at it from certain angles…
Most of the (non-villain) females, besides Webby, show next to no traditionally feminine qualities- Goldie is the closest, when she dresses up for special events or for schemes. Which I don’t mind, per se, I don’t have many traditionally feminine qualities either, but you’d think at least a few would. The original Gandra Dee, who I am glad they changed mind you, was very feminine; she wore her hair long, wore dresses, enjoyed makeup and manicures, etc. She was traditionally feminine, AND smart. (even if I never liked how they drew her face (the eyes and beak look weird imho, DT17 pulled it off better), and I felt like she left much to be desired *cough*…)
There is nothing wrong with having traditionally feminine characters. There is nothing wrong with having characters who enjoy dressing up, or putting on makeup, or shopping, etc. The problem with traditionally feminine characters comes in when it’s done for sex appeal, or you have a woman running from dinosaurs in 6 inch heels (yeah I’m calling that out) or there’s a feminine character there only to be dragged on by the others for their feminine characteristics.
Anyway, rant about that over. I still love what they did with Gandra, but I’m just noticing this trend where female characters aren’t being allowed to like traditionally feminine things. Yeah, there are absolutely a lot of girls who don’t, but there’s probably an equal amount who do! And there’s nothing wrong with showing a competent, traditionally feminine character. :/
The Duck Knight Returns!
DARKWING DUCK DARKWING DUCK DARKWING DUCK NEGADUCK AAAAAAAA
Need I say more?
Okay, Launchpad is a sweetheart and let’s be honest, we knew the moment we saw him that the other guy at the signing was Drake Mallard.
I love that they kept the “Darkwing Duck inspires Drake Mallard to become Darkwing Duck” aspect of DW’s origin story, while twisting it around so that time travel and paradoxes don’t occur. Also! We still get Jim Cummings as Negaduck, while also getting a new VA for Drake Mallard/Darkwing Duck- someone who does a pretty good job at sounding like them, too. So now Negaduck, who is no longer Darkwing/Drake Mallard from an alternate universe, has his own distinguishable voice!
… And I still think Negs is gonna have an unhealthy obsession with Launchpad, thanks to the “my fan” comment. I figure that’s how we’ll get Nega Launchpad, but who knows! There’s so many possibilities!
Anyway Gosalyn, yesterday please. Gimme.

Gandalf The Green Returns with ‘A Billion Faces’
~Doomed & Stoned Debuts~
Tumblr media
Hailing from Leeds, England, this is GANDALF THE GREEN. The stoner-doom trio is one of a handful of younger bands comprised of members in their late-teens and early-twenties that have been impressing us lately, joining company with Montana's Wizzerd, Toronto's Horse Lung, Portland's SAOLA and Ape Cave, as well as Witchers Creed from Sweden.
Something interesting I've observed about what I'll dub the Dopesmoker generation is their affinity for large-scale compositions. Horse Lung shot for Bach-like complexity with their fugal composition Rattenkönig and have just released a pair of tracks clocking in at 18 and 28 minutes respectively on 'ἔσχατον' (2019). Likewise, Ape Cave released the massive double album, 'Language of the Earth' (2018), with Sleep producer Billy Anderson, who actually invited these kids to come in and record it after hearing their 2016 album Pillars of Evolution.
With Gandalf The Green's latest single, we find them similarly thinking on a grand scale. The near fourteen-minute epic "A Billion Faces" is the foretaste of the glory to come, as the band readies to release their full-length via APF Records this fall. Staged in three interlocking segments, the track is a real trip and holds up well to repeated listens. Execution-wise, Andrew Flint (guitar, vox), Jack Walker (drums, vox), and Danny Wrigley (bass guitar) have never sounded tighter as a unit. Compositionally, the fuzz-trippers show they can achieve balance and depth within a big-picture framework, without betraying flow or nuance. Fans of Slomatics and Conan will surely find this a joy to listen to from start to finish.
I think the band describes it best: "A 13-minute psych-infused stoner doom filth fest. All the tone. All the distortion. Titanic-sized knuckle-dragging gnarly riffs amped into pure oblivion through a Matamp rig of doom. We are excited for you to hear it." Look for "A Billion Faces" out Thursday, March 28th, as a digital download via APF Records, with artwork by Dominic Sohor Design.
Give ear...
An Interview with
    Gandalf The Green
For those new to Gandalf The Green, tell us about how you formed and your history.
It started with Andy writing a bedroom demo for 'The Right' in 2015, we'd previously been in a deathcore band together (we know, we were 16, cut us some slack) and knew we all liked slow and heavy music, so got in touch and we started rehearsing with ghetto equipment in Andy's bedroom in Huddersfield. The name came from a friend who'd just bought a Gandalf style pipe and we found the pun hilarious for a Stoner Doom band, so we used it. We released our Debut EP 'King of the Ashes' in September 2016 as a 4-piece band with two guitarists, though soon after we split with our drummer and put Jack behind the kit as a trio. After that things began moving properly. Since then, we've been gigging more, collecting more equipment, and worsening our tinnitus by turning up louder. In the last year or so we've finally started getting proper slots on festivals and local gigs, though we're still yet to play a headline show!
What music has influenced your sound, and who are your musical heroes?
Our philosophy is that we want to play stupidly low-tuned, crushingly heavy music, but not in a way that sounds too evil or miserable, then combine that with trippy, ambient cleans for a huge dynamic change. Someone once put it eloquently as 'The brutality of Mordor with the serenity of the Shire.'
From a writing perspective, our main influences are Conan, Sleep, YOB and Elephant Tree. Though with all the spacey ambient bits it's quite difficult to pin exactly where a lot of that comes from, mainly just going a bit nuts with effects and seeing what comes out.
AF: My musical idol is forever Dave Grohl, even if this band doesn't sound much like his stuff. My favourite guitar players are the ones for the bands listed, plus Tony Iommi, of course.
JW: We all listen to very varied stuff, so there’s all sorts, but for this genre my influences are, Yob, The Body, Elephant Tree, Khanate, Om, Weedeater, Windhand, BongCauldron. Musical heroes? Fenriz, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams III, Mike Scheidt.
DW: My influences change around a lot but probably The Body, Sleep, Conan, Thou and Full of Hell. As for heroes the first that comes to mind is Jordan Dreyer.
What’s been your favourite gig to play so far?
AF: I'd say Gizzardfest 2018 as it was our largest crowd, but one of my amps blew up during sound check so I was a bit miffed. Other than that, the Holy Spider Promotions show Terence Larkin booked at the Mulberry Tavern in Sheffield last year was brilliant. A tiny, sweaty venue crammed with people who were really digging the music.
JW: Yeah Gizzardfest was really cool, but for me I'd say that Sheffield gig, it was Mulberry Tavern with Khost, Oak, Ritual King, Regulus and Stonelung. When we went onstage the venue was rammed so the atmosphere was great for us, it WAS proper sweaty but that's the best way.
DW: Got to agree with Gizzardfest I was amazed by the amount of people there and the reception we got cancelled out the problems by a long shot for me.
King of the Ashes by Gandalf the Green
How do you look back on your 'King of the Ashes' EP two and a half years on?
We recorded it for £0 in Andy's bedroom with whatever mics we had on hand and did the drums with some University students. Other than 'The One Ring', it's not very representative of our sound these days though, as we were finding our feet and trying lots of writing styles, with speedier Stoner Rock tracks like 'King of the Ashes' and 'The Right', which we don't really play these days.
It's fun to see how the tracks have evolved for our live performances though, 'The One Ring' now screams with feedback, has reverb swells and washed out cleans, while 'Old Toby' has a massively slowed down outro riff and stereo panning oscillating delay at the beginning. If you enjoy the debut, definitely come check us out live to see how it's evolved.
AF: I'm still pretty happy with it and loved the super DIY bedroom recording. I felt the production quality came out great, given the circumstances. Seeing how I’ve changed my vocal style and tuned my guitar down so much lower makes comparing the new and old material interesting.
JW: I have a lot of fond memories from that time writing and recording, but since we were so new to it all it doesn't quite have as good sound quality as I'd like. It's alright, but we've grown as a band and the stuff we're writing now has a way more unique sound and is better in every way I can think of.
DW: I still listen to it a fair bit honestly. I think it still holds up, but I'm excited to start showing how we've developed over the past few years and how we come across out of a bedroom. What music are you digging right now?
AF: Right now I'm on a massive hype for the gnarliest, darkest stuff I can find, such as Grey Widow, Coltsblood, Ommadon, Bismuth, and Glasghote, and I imagine these bands are going to work into my writing style for our next release.
JW: I listen to a shit load of country, like every day, maybe even more than I listen to metal. Artists like Benjamin Tod, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams III, Jesse Stewart, Crywank, The Native Howl, etcetera. But for this genre the stuff on rotation right now is bands like Windhand, Grime, The Body, Yob, Bell Witch, Ommadon, Bismuth, Sloth Hammer, Primitive Man, Elephant Tree, Goblinsmoker, Tuskar.
DW: I've been binging on grindcore and hardcore recently, a lot of Full of Hell and Wormrot on repeat. Other than that the new Body Void EP has been blowing me away every time I listen.
You’ve recently signed with APF Records. Which bands on the label do you share an affinity with?
AF: The reason we approached APF to begin with is because we love so many bands on the roster, it's hard to pick out a few! Personally, I'd say BongCauldron, Battalions, and Under, though there really isn't a bad band on APF.
JW: BongCauldron, since they were the main influence on me (and I think the others too) when starting this band. They were one of the first bands to help me get into this kind of music, since I found them when Andy's old band supported them in Bad Apples years ago and through that found more doom/stoner bands.
DW: Yes, BongCauldron, for pretty obvious reasons. Also I've been listening to Under- Stop Being Naive a lot since seeing them at Gizzardfest they've got such a unique and crushing sound.

Tell us about "A Billion Faces" -- what’s it about, and how did the track come together?
AF: It was the first track I wrote after we tuned down to drop F and bought a bunch of new effects, so I was really playing with all the new toys and trying to make something with a big dynamic change from the gentle intro to when it kicks in. We've been performing it live for a while, so the song's evolved over time to include the sexy wah solo and, because Jack and Danny love noise music, we added the noise/screaming section in the outro. The original demo was only 9 minutes compared to the final 13!
We were approached by a friend of a friend (Alex Tune, assisted by Jake Bonnett) who needed a band to record for his University coursework, it seemed mutually beneficial, and we'd get to record in the gorgeous Phipps Hall and borrow a bunch of Huddersfield Uni's Matamp equipment for free to use with ours, so we took him up on it. We live recorded the track in December 2018 and mixed and mastered the track ourselves, so again got away with paying £0 for the release. It sounded lovely in the room, but we really didn't expect the final product to sound quite as good as it did. Lyrically, the track is about parallel universes and how, if they exist, every different possible version of you exists somewhere in a big infinite tree of possible yous, experiencing the best and worst things all at once. I was wondering where I'd be if I'd taken a different turn in life and moved to a different city, and I realised that there'd be a version of me in a parallel universe where I did move there, wondering right now where he'd be if he took the turns I did. We're both thinking about each other amongst a billion different versions of ourselves, but unable to know who the other is and what their life is like.
The song comes with a cracking video. How did that come about?
A friend of the band, and vocalist/guitarist in Andy's other band, Andrew Johnston (he uses the moniker 'AEVJohnston' for music) offered to help. We thought it'd be a crime to not get video footage of us performing in such a beautiful venue, so he came along free of charge, brought his fancy lighting rig, bathed the room in green light, rented a couple of cameras from the University, and filmed us while we recorded. We edited the footage ourselves cut from various different takes we did. Again, we paid nothing for the video because we're cheap (do you see a theme?).
JW: Shout out Johnston for being a sick bloke, nice one mate it turned it really well, thank you. Sadly though, I don't think the video shows just how beautiful that room really was. Like the video is great, don't get me wrong, but actually being stood in that room with that lighting rig made it look gorgeous. Such a great atmosphere for it. Again, cheers Johnston, that was a huge help, I think the video of it really brings this release together.
What’s your plans for the rest of 2019?
We're working on our next release, of which we have over half an hour written already. Andy is busy with University, and the other two of us with real life things. Put simply, in 2019 we want to push to play more gigs and write more music. Hopefully we'll have another release done or out by the end of the year. We're aiming not to fuck about as much for it as we did for this one, because it took a long time to get going.
If your house was on fire and you could grab one thing from it before it burned down, what would that be?
AF: My Green Matamp GT1 amplifier, it's like my child.
JW: My bong, it's like my child.
DW: My cat, it's like my child.
Finally: anything to declare?
JW: Yeah, we just want to say how much we appreciate everything that's happened to us since finishing the single. We love every one of you who's checked us out or gave us a chance. Big shout out and lots of love to Andrew Field for signing us to APF, to every promoter for putting us on and every one of you for listening. It means the world to us, thank you.
AF: We also love all the sound guys who keep telling us to turn down on stage, even if you don’t love us.

How Does an Audio Interface Work? Beginner's Guide to Audio Interfaces
New Post has been published on https://www.digitalaudiowiz.com/how-does-an-audio-interface-work/
How Does an Audio Interface Work? Beginner's Guide to Audio Interfaces
At the very core, the job of an audio interface is to enhance the sound output of a computer.
They are a lot like sound cards but offer a considerably better performance than sound cards.
Most computer sound cards or outputs are not meant for high-resolution output. Therefore, they are insufficient when it comes to music production.
Moreover, an audio interface works in preparing sound that you put into your computer.
An interface makes sure that the user is able to record quality, high-resolution sound.
However, before getting a basic understanding of how an audio interface works, we must understand what an audio interface is.
What Is an Audio Interface?
An audio interface is a hardware that is used for connecting audio gear, such as microphones to computers.
The device works by converting analog signals into digital audio.
This makes your audio computer readable, and the computer is able to process it like any other information.
The audio interface sends digital audio to a computer through a medium.
This medium connection can be anything from a special PCI/PCIe card, USB to FireWire or Thunderbolt.
The device can perform the same job in reverse as well.
It receives digital information and converts it to analog signals.
These analog signals can then be heard through headphones, speakers or studio monitors.
It’s common for audio interfaces to have line-level analog inputs or outputs.
They can also include one or more preamplifiers for microphones and even digital inputs/outputs like AES.S/PDIF or Lightpipe.
When Do You Need an Audio Interface?
There are many advantages of using a dedicated audio interface instead of built-in sound-cards.
As discussed before, both sound cards and audio interfaces are not very different.
At its base, the sound card is also an audio interface.
However, sound cards have limited capabilities and aren’t ideal when someone wants to record audio.
Sounds cards are meant for general use. This means that they only have consumer-grade stereo line-level input /output.
Moreover, factors like electromagnetic and radio interference, excessive latency and jitters degrade sound quality.
Keep in mind; it’s impossible to record a full drum kit with just two channels for input.
Sound cards are ideal if you have less-demanding needs for audio.
So, playing back compressed audio or connecting a couple of Hi-Fi speakers is fine.
However, you’ll need an audio interface if you want to record or monitor production quality audio.

Choosing Suitable I/O Configuration for Audio Interfaces
There are a few considerations that are as important as choosing a suitable I/O configuration for your audio interface.
You have to consider what you will need to record now or in the future while deciding on the number and types of inputs/outputs.
There’s a lot of variety in the type of audio interfaces you can choose from.
You can choose everything from a 2-channel desktop unit to a system that records hundreds of channels.
For singers or songwriters, a pair of units is sufficient as long they choose the right ones.
The majority of interfaces have two or more microphone preamplifiers.
While using a condenser microphone, it essential to equip your interface’s preamp with phantom power.
However, if you plan to plug your guitar straight into the audio interface, make sure that your interface has instrument level or “hi-Z” inputs.
You shouldn’t forget that line-level inputs are ideal for headphone amps, outboard processors and studio monitors.
People tend to disregard the importance of digital I/O when they’re starting out.
But, they can prove to be useful later-on.
For example, few high-end one or two-channel microphone preamps are equipped with digital outputs.
This enables users to connect those preamps with their audio interfaces without removing line-level inputs.
  Audio Interface Computer Connectivity Options
As the ancient saying goes, “The only thing constant in this life is change,” the technology in the recording industry goes through constant change as well.
However, there are a few audio interface connection types that are still considered as standard.
Some of these are FireWire, USB, Thunderbolt, and PCIe.
Most computers (both PCs and Macs) have to cater to USB ports with version 2 or 3.
FireWire (400 or 800) is still more common in Mac.
The average speed of both these packages is 480 Mbps. Under ideal conditions, you can record up to 64 tracks through this speed.
Yet there are simple interfaces that still support USB 1.1. This can be quite slow, but you can record one or two channels.

Technical Specifications in Audio Interfaces
  How to read them?
Bit depth and sample rates are important specifications for any audio interface.
Bit depth has a significant impact on sound when you’re processing audio.
This means that  CD-standard 16-bit audio has a total range of up to 96dB.
Problems arise when the digital noise floor is high, and the remaining range is small.
When working at 16-bits, the quieter section of your audio will have sudden noise.
Professionals recommend working with 24-bit at a dynamic range of 144dB.
On the other hand, the choice of sampling rates can vary according to what you intend to do with your audio.
If someone is planning to release demos on CD or wants to post MP3s, it’s ideal to work at or mix down to 16-bit/44.1 kHz.
For professionals who wish to release jazz in high-resolution, it would be disastrous to work at less than 24-bit/96 kHz.
Sampling rates as high as192 kHz are useful for sound design.
You can try the old trick of recording a dog snarl at 192 kHz and mixing it with a session of 96 kHz (without losing any resolution).
This will result in giving you the traditional monstrous growl you have heard in most sci-fi movies.
  Additional Considerations for Audio Interface
Eager professionals should remember some other considerations as well.
There are still a few audio interfaces that are only compatible with either PC or Mac.
Before buying one for yourself, see if the audio interface will work in sync with your machine or not.
Many interfaces include handy features like embedded software control and DSP for mixing.
Software mixing allows professionals to do special tricks with their interfaces.
They can do everything from adding reverbs, setting up headphones mixes or delaying headphone mixes.
You can also do talkback communication with artists in the studio.
Moreover, you can do all this on an onboard DSP without increasing latency, affecting DW software or draining your CPU power.

Satine Kryze and Pre Vizsla: political & social position
Puttings aside for now morality of characters, I would like to talk about similarities and difference between Satine Kryze and Pre Vizsla and how they could be seen by New Mandalorian society at the climax of their respective arcs.
First thing though: I want to clarify something: as much as TCW may never outright said anything about  Dral'Han (Annihilation) / Mandalorian Excision that happened ~700 years prior to Clone Wars era, this event played a major role in shaping current mandalorian society - or more precisely: two societies: the pacifist and warlike. The Republic occupation and influence still held power over Mandalore, to the point that when Duchess cemented neutrality for her people, soon after that trade routes were closed around Mandalore system - even though the war did not come there yet(?) - what was mentioned in “Corruption” [s03e05]: “Desperate times on Mandalore! Having won neutrality for the Mandalorian system, Duchess Satine now finds herself an outsider with little aid to her people. Supplies are impossible to come by, except on the black market. As a result, the Duchess faces a world consumed by greed.” So, TCW may not discuss in direct way how Republic screwed up Mandalore in the past nor how it mixed into matters of “independent” government now, but it doesn’t make  Republic occupation and its effect on characters any less real.
Saying that, there is the first detail about Satine and Pre I want to talk: political & social position.
The Legends Mandalorian had visible social groups including: Mandalore(s), veterans, warriors, blacksmiths, farmers [and in the case of ancient Taungs, shamans], yet the division between “classes” was not rigid. Mandalorian could be both farmer and great warrior. The title Mandalore was reserved for the best, most skilled, most charismatic and/or the most supported by society person. The status of Mandalorian was either given by birth or by adoption, person could be disavow and/or became dar’manda (no longer Mandalorian) and reclaim the right to mandalorian culture later. People could belong to one of the oldest clans (Vizsla, Ordo, Fett) or be not associated with any family and there wasn’t social class difference between them because all have the same rights (f.e. challenging Mandalore/leader if they did not agree with their decisions) & duties (Resol’nare). In reality, how great of Mandalorian someone was never depended on birth rights or personal connection, but what kind of person he/she/them are.
In other words, Legends Mandalorian did not have aristocracy similar to the ones of Core Worlds (as in: the highest class in society, especially those holding hereditary titles or offices).
The New Mandalorians apparently are closer to Core Worlders / Republic than to the old traditions since Satine is titled the Duchess, Tal Merrik is called Prince [s02e13] and both were born on Kalevala (according to TCW Character Encyclopedia). The animated series made it pretty clear that Satine’s power is similar to the king/queen-like:
on Sundari - the capital city of Mandalore - Duchess has palace that was presented to some extent on the screen and mentioned in the show (“I told senator Amidala that Mandalore was not part of the War, yet here I find a battle in my own palace” [s03e05])
in said palace there is Throne Room where she occupies a central place (throne) even in the present of close allies & friends
she is constantly called “Lady”, “your Grace” and “your Highness” which emphasizes her aristocratic connection/roots and
has power over Ruling Council (“Corruption” episode showed Satine on her throne above seats of Ministers, including Almec, silencing them for good and calling the meeting adjourned.)
There is of course Prime Minister (that according to “The Academy” episode is one of “two people in charge” of Mandalore albeit I’m not sure if we saw Almec making any important political decision without Duchess’ contest - beside the whole illegal business & coup, of course and ignoring Satine’s angry rant about corruption) and mentioned Ruling Council to support Duchess with their advices. Unfortunately, during the Clone Wars, there is little use of Council due to corruption, apathy and bickering between Ministers / leaders of Mandalore. The only real decision / action that Ruling Council did worth to mention was asking Obi-Wan Kenobi (Republic) to provide protection for Duchess during “Voyage of Temptation”.
The Death Watch Manifesto (from Bounty Hunter Code ) - a pro-DW propaganda source, mind you - claims that Mandalorian clans became divided after Mandalorian Excision to the point that even the oldest clans had their members on both sides of cultural conflict. That concerns Kryze family as well Vizsla clan.
Tumblr media
The politically / culturally conflict overlaps with clan rivalry that has been going on for a long time. In short, the situation of Mandalorians is complicated and far from reconciliation, even in the face of threat from the Republic & Jedi.
The source did not explain in much details how the power was passed down through the generations but since the “Faithless” rulers of New Mandalorians are accused of being a puppet government headed by Republic, there is a chance that those families who are now treated as nobility may got the aristocratic titles (and wealth) from Republic itself - as a reward for joining “the right” political system. Then again, the same source claims that Satine’s father was a warlord who actually sent her off-world:
Tumblr media
According to TCW Character Encyclopedia, Satine was born on Kalevala, a planet known for expensive wines, ships and rich cloth and so far a place the most related to New Mandalorian’s nobility. We may only guess if the union (possible marriage) between warlord and Satine’s mother was a political move to connect two influential and wealthy clans or was that dictated by purely romantic motives. Nevertheless, only Satine’s father is described as mighty mandalorian warrior - and that rises some questions. We aren’t told why he sent his child offword… or what offword we are talking here, really. Satine’s homeworld was Kalevala, but she was on Mandalore while being protected by Jedi, does that means her father sent her there? Was he somehow forced to do so? And if yes, by whom? Satine’s mother? Republic? Other mandalorian warlords who wanted more power for themselves? And if Satine’s father, as one of Faithful Mandalorian maybe, wanted independence for Mandalore system - thus became a threat to Republic - Jedi arrival on Mandalore to protect (take away) Satine may not be motivated by her own safety but to secure A) the submission of the current ruler (with daughter as “hostage” in Game of Thrones style, similar to how Eddard Stark took young Theon Greyjoy as his ward) and B)  loyalty of the successor to the throne. I know that sound awful but to be fair, Jedi rarely integrate into internal government matters if there is no profit for the Republic.
I’m not sure if Satine talked in more detailed way about the year on the run under Jedi protection (beside mention of venom-mites on Draboon that seems to be a whole different planet in Mandalore sector). So let’s see what Obi-Wan told us about their time together:
An extended mission when i was younger. Master Qui-Gon and I spent a year on Mandalore protecting the Duchess from insurgents who had threatened her world. They sent Bounty Hunters after us. We were always on the run, living hand-to-mouth, never sure what the next day would bring [...] A civil war killed most of Satine's people, hence her aversion to violence. When she returned, she took rebuilding her world alone.
Satine was born on Kalevala, so…by “her world” does Obi-Wan meant a whole Mandalore system or Kalevala or Mandalore on which they were at that time? Also, since BHC confirmed that there was Civil War in which Faithful warriors (DW) wanted to take control over Mandalore, I don’t really understand why insurgents - the warriors - would hire bounty hunters? I mean, I know they were outnumbered and all, but frankly, we aren’t even told if the bounty hunters were to kill Satine or just to take her away from Jedi (the oppressors).
Nevertheless, we learn that Civil War killed most of Satine's people - what once again is pretty ambiguous, because did Obi-Wan mean Satine’s family and/or people from homeworld or did he mean Mandalorians as a whole? Because if the letter, that presents Satine as a hereditary ruler. Especially with the line “When she returned, she took rebuilding her world alone”. BHC mentioned that her father died during Civil War and if she was the oldest child, should inherit the throne. Since there is no info if she needed to fight for the title of Duchess of Mandalore (she returned and started rebuilding her world without asking anyone about opinion apparently), for me it seems Satine was born not only in aristocratic (wealthy) family but was designed to rule Mandalore sometime in future. Frankly, the same can be said for her nephew, Korkie, who is already in Royal Academy that is to educate future government leaders.
We may not know much about Satine Kryze’s past, but The Clone Wars animated series and tie-in sources present her as wealthy nobility with royal-like power over Mandalore (and maybe Kalevala). She wears rich clothes that emphasize her high status, has own palace with Throne Room and uses luxury spaceliner. She is the person that made decision to turn New Mandalorians into extreme(?) pacifists due to her personal childhood trauma & aversion to violence. Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see her as someone who was democratically elected leader.
In short, Satine Kryze had a high social rank and political position for majority of TCW storyline.
Pre Vizsla’s history is no less covered by mystery.
We know he held the office of governor on Concordia while some members of the Vizsla clan were known to be part of Death Watch. Including Tor Vizsla, a previous leader of said group who spent some years fighting against Mereel’s (and later, Jango Fett’s) True Mandalorians. For all we know, Tor and Pre may actively working at the same time for a few years (albeit not for too long, since Tor died two years after Battle of Galidraan / Mandalore Civil War and +/- two decades before Clone Wars)
Satine have seen Pre as a close ally and maybe even a friend, who the same as her choose pacifistic ideology over violent past. Who was supposed to help her hunt down the remnants of Death Watch / the opposition of her reign. We know it never was a case.
But there is more questionable matters to talk. The Mandalore’s Moon was described as “Province with its own governor” and starwars.com added that Concordia is independent of Mandalore’s government:
Tumblr media
In other words, Pre as governor of Concordia was NOT under the authority of the Duchess. What makes them more or less equal on political ground. BUT! TCW Character Encyclopedia and Visual Guide: New Battlefronts both stated that Pre was born on Mandalore. Which raises a question, how he ended as a leader of independent from Mandalore province? Duchess Satine couldn’t nominate him as her representative nor force Concordian people to vote for / accept Pre, could she? I’m not be specialist of such matters, but shouldn’t governor actually have a citizenship to be even elected to office?
Of course, Pre may simple moved to Concordia at some point, but frankly, wouldn’t be that a bit suspicious? Almec said once “All of our warriors were exiled to our moon, Concordia. They died out years ago”  and with that statement it’s easy to imagine that from the perspective of the pacifist society, the Mandalore’s Moon is marked as a bad place (natural prison and/or graveyard full of angry, bitter “barbarians”) and with Pre’s family connection to Tor & Death Watch, I think a sudden desire to move there could arouse unwanted interest in him and thus undermine the whole infiltration mission.
There is a different option:
BHC too mentioned that “some of [DW] warriors were exiled to the moon Concordia”. Some slipped away, but I don’t think that happened to Pre, per se. Basing on Legends sources, Mandalore Civil War started in the same year as Battle of Galidraan (44 BBY). From my calculation  it seems Obi-Wan would be 13 years old at that time. There is no information about age of Satine & Pre, but we know Duchess couldn’t be that older than Kenobi. Similar, Pre as the successor of Tor most likely is around the same age as Satine & Obi-Wan. Maybe a bit older, maybe a bit younger, but enough close to be seen as ‘innocent” in the conflict.
If young Pre took part in the fight and were imprisoned, it’s easy to blame Vizsla clan for forcing a child into war zone. If Pre was exiled on Concordia, he could pass later as converted man who after years understood the error of his youth & madness of Death Watch’s ideology.
If Pre did not participate in war (due to young age), but his family did and get caught, he most likely was exiled to Concordia with them. Because what else New Mandalorians could do in such situation? Keep a child from parents (clan) and try reeducated him into pacifist society? Put in orphanage for difficult youth? How many of other kids could be in similar situation? How much more Death Watch / exiled warriors would fight harder to get back their children, to tear them out of New Mandalorian hands? The society under Satine’s new rule may not mean any harm to the children forcibly taken away from their family, but if there is one thing that mandalorian warriors hate, really hate, is when someone dare to threaten their kids. This is like asking for absolute war like nothing else.
There is also one more major factor why I think this scenario is plausible, regardless of whether Pre was exiled for a fight or not. It gives him a good “tragic story” that create a common ground between him and Satine and explain why a man born on Mandalore ended as governor of independent province (though I still not sure how New Mandalorians could exile warriors from Mandalore to Concordia, if they seem to not have jurisdiction over the Moon. Unless Concordia is a really new province, built by exiled there people?)
The “tragic story” most likely include things that Satine can relate to, like childhood trauma, growing up in dangerous times (uncertainty of tomorrow), the loss of family & the pressure to rebuild things anew. The similar experiences of how senseless violence destroyed life, how much one suffered because of war for sure could bring Satine & Pre closer to each other. Or more precisely: makes Satine to trust a “converted man” like Pre Vizsla whose ambition was to clean the name of his clan - just not in the way Satine’s imagined.
There is also one more aspect to think about exiled Mandalorians. If only warriors were sent there, I think Satine’s government could have worse relationship with Concordia. The anger at taking away their children would last for long. But if after Civil War the population sent there also included children (and disabled and elderly people), for their own sake alone some family members would be forced to change their lifestyle. After all, children need to be fed, provide with medical care, access to education and safety to grown up. Maybe at some point exiled people managed to either build their own city and establish commercial and political relations with Mandalore or get involved with indigenous people (farmers and miners?) and adopted to their (less violent) customs.
Of course, this is just one of possible explanations. We aren’t told how and when Satine met Pre or why she had him in so high esteem for so long - beside that he was helping her in catching remnants of Death Watch (the opposition of her rule). We only know that both were leaders of their respectively governments that worked independently, albeit thanks to their (supposed) friendship, Mandalore and Concordia seemed to cooperate with each other over the years.
At the same time, only Satine holds aristocratic title and most likely inherited the right to rule of Mandalore either from father or mother; what may explain why Jedi were sent to protect her in the first place. While according to TCW Visual Guide: New Battlefronts, Pre somehow earned his position.
Tumblr media
Frankly, as a member of Vizsla clan, Pre probably met with some resistance or suspicion from both sides. From pacifists due to what Tor Vizsla did over the years and from Mandalorians adhering to the old rules (who at the earliest stages of rebuilding DW could not know what Pre’s true intention really is) for betraying them. Thinking about it, one of Jango Fett’s (in-universe) commentary written on DW Manifesto actually makes clear that Jango not only was aware of Pre Vizsla’s existence but also knew or maybe even heard some of his (political?) speeches:
Tumblr media
From picture: I wonder if Vizsla really wrote this. He was a thug. Sounds more like Priest or Reau. Maybe the younger Vizsla. That one likes speeches. [Jango]
(In all fairness, I agree with Jango, the Death Watch Manifesto doesn’t sound like something Tor Vizsla would write. It fits more Pre, really. But it is interesting that Jango had access at some point of time to DW secret book yet did not act against Pre as far as we know. And Jango had a long list of reasons to hate Death Watch. Then again, Priest and Reau were recruited by Fett to train clone troopers yet they share similar ideology to DW… so maybe Jango just get to the point he didn’t care anymore about Mandalore and its politics?)
Sorry, I digress.
Backing to the main topic, Satine and Pre both have high position in Mandalorian society. Both are burdened with responsibilities for their people (and ideology). The main difference is that, Pre most likely was forced to earn his leader position - the political and in Death Watch while Satine presumably was meant from the birth to be either ruler of Mandalore (or Kalevala) or one of its influential leaders (similar like Korkie is destined to grow up as one of future leaders by Royal Academy teaching program). The other more visible difference is that Duchess’ politics affect hundreds of worlds that also want to remain neutral in current military conflict while Pre’s political activities are focused primarily on internal affairs of Mandalore system (“hunting down Satine’s opposition / DW”, bringing Mandalorian back to their warrior roots). Also, I dare to say Satine’s political position was more certain due to having powerful allies & friends in Republic Senate (Padme Amidala, most likely Bail Organa)  and Jedi Order (Obi-Wan Kenobi who actually is one of Council members), while the current leader of Death Watch by long time couldn’t openly act, and later his cooperation with Dooku/Separatist turned out to be one big fiasco.
And yet, the more time passed, Satine’s political & social position was undermined by widespread corruption on Mandalore while society’s perception of Pre and his Death Watch changed for better at the same time.

"The Pyramid at the End of the World" quicktakes:
the Previously On/Now intercutting was a neat trick, i like it
Bill/Penny are adorable. i love that Penny very much does not believe Bill's story, but hangs around anyway
also i love that the simulation only got it slightly wrong - interrupting UN, not interrupting pope. and that instead of just running, Penny excuses herself. still 'fuck this i'm audi 500' but less of a door closed between them, and less - depending on how the simulation was really constructed - less informed by Bill's fear of, or expectation of, abandonment
'straight and narrow' lmao
12 playing something twinkly and mournful on the guitar while monologue-ing, i am weak for this
is this the new American Football album? delete all your rock star AUs, 12 clearly is an Emo. they filled in as guitar player for Christie Front Drive once, pass it on
forreal tho that shot from the floof to 12's stupid face like i want to stay gen here but
(the untucked shirt with unbuttoned collar and cuffs is not helping here. this rumpled can't-be-fucked poorly-put-together boy. and is the red shirt matching the monks' red robes like a Thing orrr?)
12's continuing championing of Bill gettin' some
it's the butterfly effect 12 was making fun of Bill for suggesting in "Thin Ice". i am not smart enough to know what this means. good editing, tho, i like how the glass-breaking glasses-breaking inserts pop up as punctuation
Erica is great, can she stay? (i'd imagine the casting of a little person was deliberate, 'the right person for the job' isn't enough to change what a default, average character looks like. but the role really could have been played by anyone, so the fact that we got Rachel Denning is just, it's nice, it's good, the bar is very low but still. representation matters. casual off-handed no big deal rep doubly so.)
”What do you depend on?” “Air, water, food, beer.” you and me both Nardole
"Are you following me?" the AV Club described this bit as vaudeville and, yes, it's such a corny old-school comedic beat, and PCap and Lucas sell it, or undersell it, as a direct bit of physical comedy that's goofy, yeah, but not unreasonably so and it’s so nice
(i do kind of enjoy it when PCap chews the scenery but his ability to toss away lines has been a highlight of the past three seasons and i'll miss that, in addition to all the other things i'll miss about 12)
Peter Harness, what are you trying to say here? love is consent? is this About something? This feels like classic Harness, like i can see all the shit he loves and insists on taping onto Dr Who, a place where What Peter Harness Wants doesn't quite belong. the big world-trotting set pieces, the conception of Humanity as a vague blob represented by archetypes, the ill-advised attempt at following real-world rules, the grand metaphors that get fucked to high hell somewhere along the way. none of the stuff between the military leaders rises above 'acceptable i guess', and it's mediocre in a way where i can tell it's meant to be Deep and Insightful, but i can't figure how. i do know that the aesthetic rubs me the wrong way
i will admit that the Doomsday Clock is absolutely the sort of thing DW does well playing off. just it doesn't quite...doesn't quite land.
12 knowing Bill has a Look on her face - like that they know how bullshit of a move this is, and that Bill - as kind of the stand-in for their conscience - will disapprove
bit of an Arrival vibe here, huh.
and a bit of a "End of the World pt II" vibe - the evil defeated, the Dr is doomed by something small. here it's 12's flaws that nearly do them in, the lying and hiding, the hubris. compared to 10, whose death was the good in them coming out, just made noisy by their flaws
Pearl Mackie hit that ending out of the park, a solid donger. no Harness episode complete without an iffy moment sold by the acting. (it's not bad, or out of character, and far less obnoxious than "Kill the Moon" or "The Zygpon Fuck You", but it's got that same sort of...like the Big Moment was conceived of first, and the character involved was shoved into it. it works better than it deserves to, imo)
“tell you what, old man, you’d better get my planet back” ok so maybe some lines are worth contorting your narrative to lead up to cause DANG
and PCap, too, that mix of refusing to admit things are fucked and the dawning realization that things are fucked and the ‘yeah ok so this is how i go” anyway when 12 regenerates into 13 i will Die
has anyone done the gifset comparing "you look at me and you don't see me" of "Deep Breath" with the I Can't See A Single Ding Darn Thing 12 of these past few episodes
s/o to whoever designed the 'putting the sonic glasses on' sound bc it's not too much but just There enough to underscore the movement
the strands-of-your-story, the three fates (ish) prop for the simulation thing is quite nice.
i do appreciate that 12 isn't given, like, Daredevil superpowers, just sunglasses that sort of know the layout of a room and the basic stats of the people inside it. yes their blindness is handwaved away, but
what is Nardole i mean really
his “okay here we go” when the Dr nearly comes clean
is it wrong that like. i’m upset that the next episode is kind of a reset, okay, so we don't get the Dr panicked and swooning over a dying Nardole?
and what is a Twelvedole god the two of them ok
"i’m not just sexy" awjgfeghagfwFG
“oh, and tidy up your room” like i’m not saying Twelvedole is canon but
Bill getting that moment of 'actually fuck you and fuck this what is wrong with you' AND the 'screw you i'm saving your ass' beat it's so good
so the Monks are Cybermen right like this is where this is going
NEXT ON: Missy! Bill reverse-fridges the Dr! Missy! my heart probably is just gonna fucking explode

Stand Out With Micro Influencers
New Post has been published on https://popularchips.com/dailies/stand-out-with-micro-influencers/
Stand Out With Micro Influencers
We cannot stress the growing importance of micro influencers in social marketing right now. We have previously shared on why despite their small following size, they are pretty powerful in the digital space. However, their small size often cause them to be under the radar but thankfully we found a couple of ways to help brands identify them in just a few clicks.
Once again today, we are going to talk about micro influencers. With the overload of social media content, we are going to show you how brands can differentiate themselves by engaging these micro influencers and successfully promote the brand.
Create an ongoing story with them
It is not to say that brands should not work with top influencers or celebrities, but working with micro influencers allow brands to have more room to discuss and co-create unique content. Also, micro influencers have lesser brand endorsement history and provide much of a “blank canvas”. This allow first partnering brands to really build a relationship with them to create a brand story personalized and distinct to them. In general, working with micro influencers are usually…
More flexible
If you have followed my page for more than a week you know how much I love @lacroixwater as a spritzer mix! Here is another delish combo for your weekend 🍷. I think it's my favorite so far 😍. Mango @lacroixwater + sauvignon blanc, preferably with a colorful, fun label 😉. Enjoy! #tgif #lacroixlove

Celebrities usually have a style or theme that they maintain on their social media channel and that could limit their presentation of content for brand endorsement. While top tier influencers and celebrities would opt for an outfit shot featuring the clothing or them holding the product, micro influencers would be more open to creating differentiating content beyond just a simple photo. Plus, given that micro influencers cost much lesser, brands can feel free to explore different forms of content from videos to tutorials.
@glossier was kind enough to send me their new priming moisturizer rich and I've been testing it out the past few days and it's so moisturizing and makes my skin feel like a baby's booty so if I were u I'd definitely pick some up before it sells out ✨💦
A post shared by Cecilia Gorgon 🍒 (@ceciliagorgon) on Jan 10, 2017 at 6:32am PST
Here, micro influencer @ceciliagorgon not only posted on Instagram products that @glossier sent her but she had also created a blogpost review on the Glossier site to share her experience and thoughts on the products used.
Able to create distinguishing content
Top tier influencers and celebrities have always been well recognized by their fans and they usually grow their size through building a social profile and lifestyle that resonates with the mass audience. Most if not all of their social content are always well liked, hence it is not surprising to see even the most simple photo (of a meal, of a PJs) receiving hundred of thousands of likes.

Micro influencers on the other hand often come from specific verticals and build their social presence by creating specific content that sparks interest among followers of similar interest – say photography and fitness.
With a passionate attitude and ability to get down to the finest detail for their content, brands can expect to work together with these micro influencers to discuss and co-create one of a kind content that would really differentiate from all the other “more common” form of influencer marketing.
  Engage them for advocacy program
One of the ways to identify a micro influencer for your brand would be to discover from your existing customer and fan base. Using tools such as the social listening (#hashtagmonitoring) from Popular Chips, brands can identify small and rising influencers who are already talking about the brand organically. These accounts could be brand enthusiasts or even everyday fans.

With top tier influencers and celebrities, engaging them costs so much and they are often not working exclusively with one brand. On the other hand, brands can build a longer and continuous relationship with these micro influencers/ fans and turn them into brand advocates.
For some cases, brands can even engage these micro influencers to engage in social media marketing efforts for free as they are already fans. Some brands are already doing so by sending newly launch products to these small influencers for free and in return, these enthusiasts are genuinely excited and take to social media with product content (Instagram stories, posts or even Youtube videos).

Also, Sperry has been actively working with their group of micro influencers forming the #SperryAmbassador team. These influencers do not boast the largest following (few thousands) but they are niche in their field. They consist of Sperry brand and style enthusiast, photographers as well as travellers who travels around the world in Sperry footwear.
Brands have showed us that it’s not always the bigger the influencer the better. Give micro influencers a try for your next brand campaign and see for yourself, the true value they bring to your social media marketing strategy!
