tonight i looked up at the stars
i was supposed to be going to bed,
school beginning early tomorrow,
but a friend texts me and says that the stars are out tonight
i went out onto the roof outside my bedroom window
and i looked up
when i looked up, i felt a wave of existential dread come over me
the stars, though much more visible tonight,
were still obscured by light pollution
and i began to spiral
i have always struggled with the idea that the moment that you are in now
is always and forever the past
and looking up at the stars tonight, i felt that all too familiar fear
and dread
and hopelessness and despair and it began to overwhelm me
and so i went inside
i went downstairs
and i told my dad how nice the stars were tonight

Lovejoy: The British rock group that we will have to follow very closely…
Tumblr media
Lovejoy is in this article!
Rock is not dead! Lovejoy explores the nuances of independent, almost garage rock, while breathing a breath of fresh air.
Just a year ago, they played their first concert. This summer, Lovejoy performed on stage at Rock Werchter. A real accomplishment for this English indie rock band.
Lovejoy was formed only two years ago, under the leadership of William Gold and Joe Goldsmith. The group was formed almost by chance: the two long-time friends met Mark (the drummer) on the Fiverr application and Ash (the bassist)… in the toilets of a burger restaurant.
They are releasing a brand new single this October 6, “Normal People Things”. Meet the group that intends to become the spearhead of English rock.
Before being in a band, you had your own solo project William. How is it different creating music alone, versus in a band?
William Gold: Oh, it's very different, especially in my lyrics. I often choose the safer option when writing for the band, because I'm a little afraid of what they will think of me. My solo music has always been very direct and sometimes a little too raw, whereas Lovejoy is a little more like my stream of thoughts converted into poetry, whereas my solo music is just my thoughts.
Do you think it's better or just different?
William Gold: I think it's better. Personally, I much prefer Lovejoy's lyrics to my solo music. I feel like it's just as personal, but it touches on different areas, areas that are a little less raw and acerbic.
For the instrumental part, you all compose together. How do you do?
Joe Goldsmith: I'm still figuring out how that process works... (laughs) I think we're still a pretty young band, so we haven't gotten to the point yet where we don't like each other anymore. So, everything is going pretty well. But as far as the process goes, I think it varies and we don't really have a strict definition of how to create a song. Sometimes it starts from a riff that Mark writes. Sometimes the starting point is an idea Will has for the lyrics… It's very random and we're trying to figure it out, because we want to be a little quicker.
You released an EP last May, what was your inspiration?
William Gold: Life in general, and all the experiences we've had. And my musical tastes personally evolved a lot during this period as well.
Joe Goldsmith: We started playing live a year ago, and I think that's definitely influenced the way we approach songs. We saw how the public reacted to certain parts of our music and we adapted our old catalog. We changed the songs slightly live to make them more exciting for the audience.
Is there a particular message you want to convey through your music?
William Gold: I just want people to dance. I want excitement. I want to convey honesty and passion.
Joe Goldsmith: I just want to inspire other people to take on creative projects. I want people to write songs, paint pictures, write poems...
William Gold: And they do!
Joe Goldsmith: Our fans are really very active and talented. We are constantly given amazing gifts. I have oil paintings in my house (portraits of us) that people have done. I have handmade sculptures, giant stuffed animals... That's my favorite thing about all of this: seeing that our ideas inspire other people.
Which song do you consider the most meaningful to you?
William Gold: I think “It’s All Futile!” is the one that is most personal to me. But of our latest songs, I think “Call Me What You Like” is the one I’m most proud of lyrically.
You have your own label. Is it important for you to have your own independence?
William Gold: Absolutely. Our independence is incredibly important. We're still trying to find our way in this industry. It's crazy to see how much support you need to do a lot of things, but also to see that you can do a lot of things yourself. And I feel like we're doing a good job of navigating the two. We are by no means a DIY band, but we want to do as much as possible ourselves.
What are the benefits of doing it yourself?
William Gold: Agency and freedom. And simply out of stubbornness! We don't want to give away our catalog when we can do so much on our own.
Joe Goldsmith: Once you cross that line, you won't really go back. You will never be independent again. So we're going to continue this as long as possible.
What sets you apart from other groups?
William Gold: I think it's our very strong connection with our fans.
Joe Goldsmith: I see other bands and other labels trying to make this...
William Gold: ...but we can't make it. We're lucky to have it and it's not something we did intentionally. It wasn't a marketing team that told us what to do, but we managed to create this heartfelt connection ourselves, and it's our most important priority to maintain, excite, and prioritize it above everything.
Joe Goldsmith: I try to do as much as I can to give back. I always do treasure hunts and secret competitions for our fans, to make sure they have a great time.
William Gold: I want to make sure that all of our concerts provide an option for people with less financial means. So, we have a messaging system where just ask to get tickets at half price (or even less). We do it at every concert where it’s possible. And when theaters refuse to do it, we try to find alternatives. It is essential to maintain our “fan base” at a high level.

EEEE BACK AGAIN CUZ YOUR WRITING IS YUMMYYY
Valeria, Graves, König, and Soap (separately) who has a s/o who's into poetry?
like maybe they're a poet or a librarian or something.
bonus points for a silly little cozy aesthetic dressed s/o :33
MANY HUGSSSS
-☁️
(CLOUD ANON)
Hello again! Welcome back! I'm glad my silly writings are enjoyable to people! I wrote it so Reader is a librarian and writes poetry both, in most of these! I think I forgot for Soap! I hope these are good enough! Thank you very much for the request! ^^
Soap, Valeria, Graves, König with an S/O who likes Poetry
Soap: While he may have read some poetry throughout his life, but only because he was forced to at school, he doesn’t care for literature like that in the slightest. Sure, he can understand some metaphors and some messages a piece of writing might try to convey, but he won’t go out of his way to buy himself an anthology of William Blake. He doesn’t have the time to read, and he doesn’t really want to either, he’d much rather go outside and take a hike. However, once you come up to him with one of your poems in hand, he’s more than happy to sit down and read through it. The way the language flows, the way the words intertwine with each other and form something unmistakably beautiful, it has him in a chokehold after a while. He’ll always cheer you on, quietly, while writing and read everything that you put on paper. While he might not be the best at giving criticism, he can use his words to reassure you that your writing is, indeed, the bomb. If you ever release your works then you can be certain he’ll be the first to buy a copy of the book, maybe even several because he loves and supports you that much. He loves the cozy aesthetic you have. Beige cardigans with either matching trousers or skirts. If you’re roughly the same size then let him borrow one of your cardigans, he wants to feel for himself how warm and cozy they are. It’s not usually his style, but trying them on won’t kill him. He actually also kind of likes it when you send him pictures of you drinking tea or coffee with a book on the table. It’s, as mentioned, very cozy, very comforting. You’re living your best life, you’re happy and thriving, and that’s all that matters to him.
Valeria: Unlike Soap, she has picked up books after school. The only poem she has read after school was the Divine Comedy by Alighieri since it sounded interesting to her at the time. She never finished it, though, having become far too busy with the military and, afterwards, the cartel. She doesn’t particularly miss reading either, though. Maybe sometimes, when she just wants to have a nice and quiet day, she might pick up a book she found just lying around, but that book could contain just about anything. While she might not always have the time to read your poetry, it will likely be sitting on her desk for a few days before she can read it, she will visit you at your library. It’s calm there, it’s quiet, and likely not a place anyone would suspect someone of her caliber to be. While she might not particularly be there for the books, you could read her some poetry every once in a while. Doesn’t have to be at the library either, you could just check out a book and read to her at home. She can appreciate something like that, you spending time with her, reading your favorite poem in a soft, almost mellow, voice. She gets to see you happy, after all, and that’s what she’s usually striving for. Even if that library isn’t doing too well, she’ll always make sure that it’s up and running because you love your job as much as you do. She, too, likes your aesthetic. It’s fairly neutral, it doesn’t stand out too much. While it might be a bit boring to her occasionally, since you likely would look just as lovely in something a bit more flashy, she won’t tell you to dress you any differently. In fact, she might instigate you a bit and egg you on by buying you expensive coffee beans or expensive hand made tea. The most aesthetically pleasing tea pots and cups will be yours, in this case you won’t even need to ask her.
Graves: Graves has not picked up many books after school either. The occasional book on business and history, yes, but nothing that was written lyrically. It never interested him, he had to analyze poems at school and that was the start of his disdain for poetry. He never did well with writing down what a specific metaphor might mean, so he never got any good grades on that. At first, he won’t be very happy to see you’ve brought him a poem, even if it was written by you, but he won’t complain, he’ll read it and give you honest criticism. He’s better with constructive criticism than Soap because he can still see the poem’s flaws while being nice and uplifting about it so you can do better next time. It likely won’t ignite a spark for poetry in him, but he has a soft spot for you, so he’ll read anything you want him to see. On the off-chance he has time to visit you, he will. While he might not be as quiet as Valeria, he tries, but he just really wants to converse with you. He doesn’t get to see you often, so it wouldn’t be too unlikely for him to waltz up to your library in his gear either. He tries not to scare the people, but it doesn’t always work. Tries to convince you to go home early with him so you can pay attention to him instead of burying your nose in some books. It doesn’t work, but hey, an attempt has been made. He really digs that entire cozy aesthetic. You look warm, you look soft, you look like you want and need a good hug from him. He’s a very touchy person in general, but that goes up by 100% since he likes the feeling of your cardigan, it’s made of wonderful fabric. If you’re more of a coffee drinker, like he is, then you can drink some coffee at a lovely cafe together, he knows plenty of nice and calm places. Tea, too, but you’ll be alone in that endeavor since he’s a coffee drinker first and a human second. Send him some cute pics of you, though, he’ll appreciate them after a mission and tell you how good you look.
König: He sort of likes poetry, actually. While he hasn’t read enough to actually have a favorite, he likes the way it sounds when read, either out loud or in your head. While he, by no means, could ever write a poem himself, English or German, he does like to read some every once in a while. He has an anthology at home he never got around to finishing. It’s a calming hobby. However, he finds himself with a favorite poet once you show him your writing. He’s very supportive of you, asking you fairly often about your progress and how you’re doing, answering any and all questions you might have that might bring you some inspiration. Whenever he writes it’s somewhat dry, mostly because he’s used to writing reports these days and nothing else, so seeing your flowery, beautiful language makes him smile a bit. It makes him imagine the scenery very vividly, even if you don’t specify too much of your setting. He, too, will come visit you at work when he can, but he won’t make a ruckus. If he can talk to you, that’s fine, if he can help you sort some books, he’d love to, but if you just want to do your work in quiet, then he’ll grab himself a nice book and sit down quietly until you have time for him again. Might ask you some questions regarding some books, might ask you for some recommendations as well, but he respects your want for quiet. He also really likes your aesthetic, it’s such a contrast to what he’s used to. You don’t look like you’re fighting wars, you look as though you sit down at a park bench during late spring or early autumn to read some books, and he thinks that’s very nice. If you want to, then the two of you can sit together in silence while you’re reading some poetry and he’s reading the Schachnovelle. He’s more than happy to tell you about what he read or listen to you reading some of the poetry out loud as well. It’s nice, it’s calming. It’s so far away from what he normally does at his job, he could fall asleep to the comfort of it all. If you’re reading at home, he might put his head in your lap and just take a nap.

Do you think jimin lies a bit when it comes to what kind of art he likes and consumes? I'm not really trying to imply he's a liar (yes, this contradicts my previous statement) but am I supposed to believe he's been only watching the notebook and listening to bieber for years when he does what he does? There are many people who really struggle to make and interpret art in a way that transcends the literal stratum. I don't think jimin has ever had that problem, though, he knows exactly how to convey a message through symbols, laying layers upon layers of meaning. It's clear he puts a lot of thought on everything he does and how, and to me that comes with exposing yourself and analyzing what has been done before, but he speaks so little about it. We know he loves the notebook and like crazy (I'm still kind of in awe of how he managed to conceive a whole song that both relates and doesn't to that movie? His mind), the other day he even said he doesn't watch many movies. He's influenced by taeyang, usher, and mj (who isn't?). He said that while working on his album he listened a lot to justin bieber (thankfully it doesn't show) and sgt. pepper's lonely hearts club band by the beatles (this makes a lot of sense) and that's IT? Maybe it is? It still feels like I'm trying to solve a puzzle with missing pieces.
I don't think Jimin lies, but rather he omits. There's obviously more than Justin Bieber and The Notebook in his cultural baggage. There has to be. Otherwise how can we explain the ideas he had for his photofolio for example? Or his album? The Rilke poem? You need to have some background on that, some interests that take you into certain directions. I think he just chooses not to talk about it and when he does, he takes the easier route, offering the most basic pop culture references that do not add too much to his idol image. It's safe, it keeps him in a generic, neutral zone. We know there's more, just as we know from other people that he's an art collector despite not saying a word about it ever. I can't tell you the reason. It would be nice to hear more about what he likes and how art he's into influences his own work, but maybe he wants to keep it to himself. I'm not someone that people keep an eye on 24/7 and dissect every single move and sentence. Perhaps that's why it's important to keep some things close, regardless if they're mundane or rather important.

Songs I think fit Frubbo because yes
Of course this is my own opinion, you don't have to agree. If you want to add anything just feel free to do so! And as always this is the character, not the content creator.
I'll add the song, artist, the meaning of the song when you search it up, and the lyrics that made me think of them.
Be Nice To Me by The Front Bottoms
The waning days of a mutually self-destructive relationship
"But you're a killer
And I'm your best friend
Thinks it's unfair, your situation"
I feel like this might soon reflect on what's to come. Fred keeps repeating to Tubbo about how he's not someone he should be trusted because there are things he's done that aren't good.
"Well I try to write you poems, but the words, they don't make sense
My hand tries to grip the pencil, but the fingers are too tense"
Sometimes when Tubbo is writing letters to Fred, the message he's trying to convey can come off wrong. Such as the first instance of him inviting Fred on a picnic and Fred interpreting it as him asking him on a date instead of just a hangout. Not to mention the two aren't that good at voicing their emotions to eachother.
"And I try to show emotions, but my eyes won't seem to wet"
This reflects Fred's struggle with dealing with emotions. Though he's trying to learn human emotions, technically he's still not allowed to because of the Federation.
Favorite Poison by Fuller
Bad choices in dating
"You get high on breaking rules
Cutting lies and blurring truth
I got lost after finding you
Can't cut, cut, cut you loose"
Tubbo often liked to mess with Cucurucho by explicitly breaking rules because of his dislike of the Federation. Fred as he grew closer to Tubbo also started to loose trust for the Federation, and as stated in one of his letters "For the first time after living on the island I can't make firm decisions." Hence the "I got lost after finding you" lyric. He's grown to close to Tubbo to want to stop being his friend as well
"Your a bad habit and I'm a bad boyfriend"
Fred has been reprimanded for keeping a connection with Tubbo, though despite that he still keeps exchanging letters with him. Possibly being a bad habit. Yes Fred and Tubbo aren't dating but the "I'm a bad boyfriend" reminds me of when Fred called himself a bad penpal
"I don't know if I'll ever change
You never asked so I didn't say
Maybe it's love because I feel okay"
This could be Fred wondering if he'll ever learn human emotions fully, and questioning whether or not what he feels for Tubbo is love.
No Time To Explain by good kid
The change that comes with getting close to someone and how it can be scary, yet uplifting at the same time.
"I said I don't like change but I'm not afraid
I can't keep it together ever anyway
When every page is in disarray
I think we'll be okay"
Fred feeling human emotions for the first time is quite a big change for him. Despite that, Tubbo is there and willing to support him through it. This reminds me epecially since the lyric is "We'll be okay", not just "I'll be okay".
Oh No! by Kevin Walkman
Letting your walls down and allowing yourself to fall for someone.
"I know we could be more than friendly-
What does that even mean?"
At first Tubbo intended to just be friends with Fred, obviously that didn't work. I view this part as like one of his awkward attempts at telling Fred he likes him while also trying not to make him uncomfortable
"And oh my God!
We could admit that this is odd!
Love at first sight is bullshit now
But look at your face"
Tubbo and Fred's situation-ship/friendship/whatever Fred is calling it I think is probably best described as odd. Though they weren't 'love at first sight' I do feel like Tubbo figured it out earlier on.
"Oh no no shit really hit the fan"
In context it doesn't really work, but the mess of 'Is Fred a 50 year old man'? Or Fred telling Bagi that he never wanted something romantic reminded me of how I felt trying to catch up on everything lol.
"I can't tell my girlfriend I'm gay
Cause she spent eight months thinking I'm straight, oh no!"
Once again in context it doesn't fit but it reminded me of that one dono Tubbo got that said Fred mightve been straight, so basically kind of the opposite of this lyric

The Multidimensions Of Taylor's Art
I wrote this piece on Twitter back in May when people were very loud about the fact that trying to attribute a song to a muse was disrecpectful and was diminishing Taylor's art.
I think today is a good day to repost it:
Taylor Swift's art is multidimensional. She said it herself and as we keep repeating over and over again, she's a Mastermind.
The message she conveys with one song is larger than just being a good song with beautifully written lyrics.
I see a lot of people talking recently about how when people talk about the muses of the song they are "reducing" Taylor's art to her muses. And how gaylorism was somewhat "better" before because the focus was less on this.
(I would like to differ on this, but it’s a whole other conversation).
But Taylor's art is multidimensional and intentionally directed to her fans. ALL her fans.
In one song, she manages not only to create a masterpiece with incredible lyricism.
She also manages to include deep queer references, ingrained in queer history.
She also managed multiple times to reference queer arts, books, poems, artists etc.
Acknowledging all of it and appreciating it is, yes, very important. I mean, it's the core of her art and a beautiful part of gaylorism.
Who hasn't learned a lot about our own history all thanks to Taylor?
But while this part is very true. Taylor also manages to make sure in every song that we can identify the muse.
It has always been an important part of her artistry. Remember liner notes from Debut to 1989?
She even decided that it was not enough, and starting with reputation, she started including Taymojies, making sure you knew very well who and what that song was about.
But she doesn't even stop there. For most of her songs starting with 1989 all the way to Midnights, she's also making sure that you can identify said muse through her lyrics.
Ever wonder why, for most of her songs there's parallels you can easily make with social media posts, articles, interviews, videos etc?
She's making sure that she references things in her songs that will point to the muse and that you'll be able to track back with some simple google search.
All of this is very very clearly intentional.
She also uses the same imagery that she knows very well her fans can recognize since 1989 while talking about her muse.
Using recurring themes that she's well aware her fans (us) will associate with the person (Sun, gold, New York, daisies etc.)
But the depth of her work doesn't even stop there. She'll even use timestamps in her songs to communicate certain messages or references to certain persons. And this is when the length of the song is not simply intentionally referencing one person:
Ex Sweet Nothings: Karlie's birthday
And so much more…
This can clearly be qualified as pure genius. But she pushes it even farther.
If we take Midnights for example she even samples her songs to older ones to help you identify the time, the event or the muse this song references.
Lavender Haze - I Think He Knows
Question…? - Out Of The Woods
Maroon - King Of My Heart
And it's not even the end of the massive amount of information that she manages to put out in a 3-4 minutes song.
This is simply astonishing.
Her brain truly is amazing.
Her lyrics videos are made to help you identify what and who the song is about. With visual clues and very intentional uses of capital letters and comas.
For example: "Your Midas touch"
Making sure you know she's referencing king Midas who turned everything he touched into gold (gold again, interesting).
Or: "some name dropping sleaze tell me what are my Wordsworth"
From The Lakes, referencing the poet William Wordsworth.
And it still goes further. She will include small details in her songs that you'll pick up on if you pay attention but will fly right past most listeners. A sort of secret message for those who really pay attention.
Ex: in Getaway Car, when she sings.
"Ain't a circus, ain't a love story and now we're both sorry (we're both sorry)"
This is two girls singing "we're both sorry. Meaning the relationship she was trying to protect with this getaway car was with a girl. Once again pointing to the muse.
I already wrote a novel and I haven't even touched the music videos and tour visuals…
But her genius in songwriting doesn't even end there.
Because, if you don't know the muse or refuse to see it. She'll also manage to buy some plausible deniability in her songs so it kind of points to her PR relationships too.
Not much, just enough so that if you really want to believe those Hollywood stories, you can hold on to these lines/visuals and be happy.
But she manages to do so, while staying true to the real muse and not so much to the PR relationship.
A good example is Invisible String and the famous Yogourt shop line with the wrong shirt color.
If your life depends on Toe, it's enough to make you happy and you won't search much further.
However if you search a bit, you'll find out how she intentionally messed up the lyrics.
I could still go on and on about the depth, the genius and the complexity of her songwriting, but I think you see my point now.
She said it herself, her songwriting is painfully autobiographical. And she puts an immeasurable amount of effort in it to make sure you get the story right.
Dismissing the muse of the song to not reduce her work is just as bad as dismissing her queerness and all the references she does to it, to not "speculate" on her.
In both, of all the multidimensional approaches that she uses in her art. You are keeping yourself from enjoying and dismissing about 50% of her hard work. If not more when you include music videos.
Acknowledging her muses to the songs is not reducing anything but more embracing as much as you can the genius and hard work she puts behind every song and every artistic decision she makes.
And I'm not saying that you HAVE to acknowledge the muse or else you are not a true fan. Art is meant to be enjoyed differently by every person and at the end of the day you take what makes you happy, simple as that.
My point is to say that acknowledging the muse in her music is not reducing anything. Quite the contrary.

To the people who feel the need to constantly comment on posts about Taylor Swift with statements like “I just don’t get the hype, she’s so overrated, I’d never pay to go see her,” THATS FINE.
(General Rule: Not everything you see on the internet is for you specifically. I’m sure you are very special, but not everything out there is directly created for you. It’s perfectly fine to scroll past a post without sharing your every thought on the matter and just letting other people enjoy what they want)
Her music and style may not be for everyone and that’s fine. No one is forcing you to even try and like her. When people make posts or articles about Taylor, they write them for the others out there like them who DO care. Who do “get it.”
Many of us who were close in age to Taylor when she first hit the scene have been here the entire time because she was able to put life (yes, teenage-type) experiences that we had all been through into beautiful lyrics that were relatable to us. It felt like she was someone we knew. Like one of our friends or even someone we saw ourselves in!! She was very open about who she was and what her life was like. She was very technically savvy and found ways to make connections with her fans from afar.
Young fans heard her, saw her, and admired her right from the start because she’s just so sweet and really tries to be a role model for her younger fans.
Older fans heard her and appreciated her art and work.
Taylor is the kind of artist that we only fell more in love with the more we learned about her- not just artistically but personally. She made everything so freaking personal for her fans: she has stayed late after events to meet every single fan, she would stop fans on the street to take pictures with them, she has sent fans Christmas gifts, she has sent fans money, she doesn’t cancel shows, she always sings live, she plays games with her fans and is playful with us over inside jokes, she leaves secret messages and clues in her work for us to find, she hand picks fans from the internet and from her shows to come meet her (she has never done paid meet and greets), she makes homemade deserts for her fans, she literally invited fans into her homes numerous times, she shows up to fans weddings and sings for them, I could truly go on forever describing how amazing she treats her fans and what a incredibly kind person she is.
But early on, she always had one thing that set her aside from all of the other pop-stars that we knew- she wrote all of her own songs and played guitar. Every single song she has put out has been written either entirely by herself or written with other writers to convey a concept that Taylor came up with. This may not seem impressive to those that compare her to the Beatles, Springsteen, Elvis, whoever- but that’s the point. She’s a pop-star being compared to the literal greats of all time!!! She was 15 when she landed her first record deal, but what most people don’t realize is she was even younger when she signed with Sony as a song writer. 14 years olds. 14 years old and she had a job writing songs for a major company. That is impressive. No matter what style of music you are interested in. She has amazing range with her music. Sometimes she just makes poppy bops for the sake of fun, sometimes it’s a poem about her deepest fear at in the forms of a song, sometimes it’s a pop sounding song with a deeper concept, she has more reach than people want to admit to.
The fact that all of her music is produced in her mind is special, whether or not you think it’s great music, it’s special. And it’s even more special that millions of people around the world relate to and enjoy it.
Early on Taylor made her mark on the music industry, but even more importantly, she engaged with her fans and treated us like close friends. She didn’t put up a wall or place herself on a pedestal like most celebrities did at the time. She understood that her success rested squarely on her fans’ shoulders, so she made very strong bonds early on and we’ve been here the whole time. She wasn’t just someone who’s songs we liked, she was someone we liked who also happened to write relatable songs.
So the next time you feel like posting “i don’t get it on a Taylor Swift post,” remember this.

how do you come up with ideas for your stories, and what inspires you? and after you’ve gotten an idea for the story, what is the process of writing like? i am so impressed by your diction and how you use such intricate and detailed words and sentences that PERFECTLY encapsulates the emotions and whole storyline 🥹🥹 if you can’t tell ive reread the whole collection of in which drabbles at least twenty times because i can’t fathom how you’re able to carry out such BEAUTIFUL WRITING ❤️❤️❤️ ohmaigash i love you n your writing teehehehehe even as english being my first language, i never am able to even think of using such language in my writings, i really want to know how you do it 🙃
oh my gosh anonie… thank you thank you thank you for your kindest words i don’t know what to say 🥲🩷🩷🩷 you reminded me of how writing is not easy but damn is it soooo worth it :") made my dayyyy i love you so much!!!!
to answer your qn— it’s honestly different every time!! sometimes i get inspired by a song, an excerpt of a poem or essay, or even by a single word alone. sometimes they’re loosely based from my own experiences. sometimes i come up with a scenario in my head while i’m in the middle of doing something very random hehehe. that’s kinda the foundation of the iw!series and how it started 😭 and then from that i expand to a concept orrrr it can be vice versa too like the concept goes first then i figure out the details after!! it’s so important that i know exactly what i’m trying to convey and what messages i want to say :]
so usually i write that down along with the outline of scenarios/dialogue/transitions/general flow of the piece 🥰 it prolly sounds organized but it’s funny and all over the place they’re barely even considered sentences HDJDHDJSJFJF but it works for me so don’t fix what’s not broken amirite 🫡 as for the writing process, i usually write before bed bcs i need a quiet and peaceful atmosphere :] sometimes i listen to music while doing so to get myself in the ~zone~ hehe. ofc writing is the most difficult and painful part 😵‍💫 if i had a nickel for every time i asked myself “oh my god will i even get to post this???” and then screamed into my pillow, i’d be rich as hell by now. after finishing a part i take a break and read/edit everything i’ve written so far which is helpful in moving forward as well!!
i love editing bcs that’s when it finally starts to feel right and decent to post 😭😭😭
this got quite long oops- idk if i satisfied your curiosity so i’m happy to answer if you have more questions !! 🥰🫂

No why do you think folkmore are her worst albums????
Okay, so when I say folkmore are her worst albums, I am speaking in terms of replayability and taylor-ness. I do not mean the quality of the albums themselves are bad, I just find that I never seek out folkmore to listen to if I'm trying to listen taylor swift. I find folkmore to be albums that you need to be in a very, very, very specific mood for. I also find that folkmore was kind of like her attempt to be taken seriously musically and I just really enjoy glitter gel pen taylor and I find that while she can write critically acclaimed "serious" music, taylor shines the best when she is using simple imagery to paint a very, very vivid picture of complicated emotions.
I think what makes taylor so awesome in terms of songwriting is how accessible her songs are. She really understands how to use simple language to make you feel a specific way and I find folkmore to be too flowery. In short, folkmore feels like she was trying too hard to be a serious 30 year old popstar and it kind of shows in the type of music she wrote for those records.
Since folkmore, Taylor has received this reputation of her songs being high-brow, complicated lyrics and that has never been her MO. Ironically, it's always why I get angry at the idiots who call tortured poets a cringey title because the way taylor's music is set-up works exactly like poetry. The best poems have lines that, if isolated, are regular ass sentences but put together, the poet has managed to make you view such sentences in a different light.
Despite how much people overuse the phrase "14 year old girl poetry," I find that folkmore is more accurate to that than any other of taylor's albums because the connotation of 14 year old girl poetry being bad comes from how hard children try to make their work be taken seriously and thus, overusing purple prose and metaphors to make themselves sound smarter. In reality, good poetry is simple at its core. It understands how to convey a message in a language that appeals to a broad audience and doesn't hide behind sat vocabulary to make its point because it doesn't need to.
Let me stop it here because I could rant for ages about how much I hate the overworship of folkmore because they really are mid taylor albums imo. But if you want me to explain in greater detail, I will. Hope this answered your question.

Dear God I've had about two and a half hours' sleep for no good reason. I got completely too tired yesterday to type up my notes but couldn't let myself go to bed until I was done because my colleague was going to help me go over the proposal this morning, so stayed up until 6 before some kind of primal desperation allowed me to get my laptop out of my bag and start writing. Woke up to check WhatsApp and find colleague had to cancel and had messaged me the previous night and I hadn't noticed. Now I have to try and function and finish this thing while also having work commitments. Allow me to try and convey my feelings in terrible parodic 古文 .
Poem translation:
Neither coffee nor vaping
Can cure it
Please deliver me from
This exhaustion
(it follows the traditional 5-7-5-7-7 structure of Japanese waka and I attempted to revive my classical verb conjugations although I think I got one wrong. Ideally should have included a reference to the seasons)
If it's not obvious, I'm like 98% sure I have ADHD and could probably get help and do all of this better if I could get diagnosed, but I tried Googling options again today and between costs and waiting lists it doesn't look optimistic so I guess I'm just going to almost- 玉砕 myself at every deadline I encounter. Like I'm awake and even managing to write sort-of classical Japanese but I Cannot. Focus. My attention and I don't what to know what it will take to get me actually writing on topic again ☕☕☕😵

Blog 8 - Let's get formal
Writing formal poetry is always difficult for me. Organizing what I want to say inside a rigid framework is a challenge. It can limit your word choices. I find this the most frustrating part of working in a frame. I may have a perfect word in my head that is just right to describe what I am trying to convey – BUT – it doesn’t rhyme, or it has the wrong number of syllables. It makes me want to bang my head on the desk. And it certainly makes free verse poetry appealing.
On the flip side, it demands that you be creative. So, you can’t use that perfect word. Now you have to think up another perfect word that does work. Or maybe you have to rewrite the entire sentence in a new way. It forces you to consider every word you put on your paper. I find it helps to have a big vocabulary (thank you Grandma!)
Tumblr media
I find it helps to think about what I want to say with my poem. I consider this the “big picture” or the message. I begin by writing lines in my notebook for several days. They might be ideas or pictures in my head (like most people, I think in pictures). Sometimes, it is just a list of words that relate to my topic. Often during this note period, I end up with secondary meanings to my message. For example, I wrote a poem about recycling that had a subtext about starting a new life after loss. This is all just thinking on paper, so I don’t have to remember everything.
Finally, I sit at the computer and begin organizing my notes into a poem. I keep two pages open: the one I am writing my poem on and a second page for deleted lines. I keep deleted lines because sometimes that can be useful; if not for this poem, then for another. I find this second page to be critical when I am writing inside a formal framework. As I struggle to restructure a line or find a perfect word, sometimes it is sitting right there on the “junk” page. I am embarrassed to admit how many times I have added and deleted a single line.
Another odd challenge with formal poetry is language. It is such an old format that it can be easy to fall into old language. (Admit it – who doesn’t hear Shakespeare in their head when writing a sonnet?) We have mental images associated with certain rhyme schemes and structures that can influence our word choices. Dr. Seuss has a particular hold on my brain when I write rhyming poetry. And no one takes pity on you when you say you are fighting with Dr. Seuss…

hiii its the previous anon here late but i see your point w how the person from "in plaster" differs from the one you have written about... (though ive interpreted the ending as quite ambiguous since, maybe, the two have to fuse to create one; the white one molding and shaping the yellow one to its full potential and the yellow one to fill the empty plaster w raw emotion... imsorry the rant i loved both yours & sylvias poem i could write entire essays about them)
i also adore the religious—esque imagery; (not to ramble about sylvia again but in the moon & the yew tree theres this verse inside the church will all be blue; floating on their delicate feet over the cold pews; their hands and feet stiff with holiness...) and as for heretics in love, no words can convey how much in awe i am, truly. i could talk about it for hours & hours but not to bother you all i have to say is that i know future has so much in store for you; youre so creative & so well articulated, thank u for inspiring me with your work. its lovely (i saved it in my tiny when in need of inspiration folder). i cant wait for your next poems and i mean it. im sorry for writing so much again but thank u for making my day! ♡
Hello! I'm so glad to see a message from you again! 🤍
Thank you for recommending me another of Sylvia's poems! To be honest, I loved her prose but I never could get more into her poetry, I think because I only read translations to Polish, and a lot can get lost in translation. Especially the essence of the language (I personally try to write in one language at a time, as they have different qualities). I really enjoyed this poem, she describes her mind as this cold, dark, gothic looking night and I relate to that a lot. I spend most of my life in the night hours and I always feel, especially in late Autumn and Winter, that I'm sort of inhaling the night, becoming it, and I would describe it too as cruel and hopeless, although I could write a ton of poems about how beautiful and calm the night is as well.
Thank you so much for the kind reception of my poem! I worked on it since July, and I felt like it's ready. I'm very, very grateful for your words, they are a huge compliment! Thank you for making my day, if I may repay with the same words🌷
By the way, if you ever feel like it, you can DM me to chat about poetry! I appreciate your insight, we could share some interesting poems and you wouldn't feel guilty about the long messages (although I don't mind them). It doesn't have to be tumblr chat if you prefer more anonymity! As you can tell from this profile, I'm also a Pen-pal kind of person, so long form of messages is something I quite like. Have a lovely day! 🕊️

Finding your authentic voice and vision, you can create beautiful, meaningful works. Here are some steps:
Tumblr media
Focusing On Your Message Or Theme
The first step is focusing on your message or theme. Think about what you want your poem to convey.
Are you exploring love, loss, nature, social justice, or another topic? Getting clear on the essence or heart of your work will help guide your word choices and structure.
From there, experiment with different formats like free verse, sonnets, or haikus to see which feels most natural. Don't be afraid to try something unconventional if a traditional form doesn't click.
Tone Of Voice
As you play with structure, pay attention to your tone of voice. What emotions do you want to evoke in your reader? Anger, sorrow, joy, wonder? Allow your genuine feelings about the subject to shine through in your phrasing and imagery. Being honest yet specific is more powerful than lofty language that doesn't ring true.
Read your words aloud as well - listening can reveal where the cadence feels stiff or sing-song. Tweaking wording to flow more conversationally often improves the listening experience.
vimeo
Choosing Evocative Descriptions
Another key is choosing evocative descriptions that utilize our senses. Vivid details that allow us to see, hear, smell, taste, or touch the poem's scenes will bring it vividly to life for readers.
Be unafraid to use unconventional metaphors or unusual juxtapositions that surprise you in a way fitting for your theme. Editing is also crucial to polish your phrasing until every word feels perfectly placed.
Reading work aloud to trusted friends gets helpful feedback on emotional impact and places needing refinement.
Choose A Poet To Write For You

2) Fiminisms/Moralism Critism
"mistreatment to women"
People choice a good leader because our society Four members of his gang accompanied the son of a Congressman in the midst of the tall grass and five young men mounted Maritess. And when the five young men Had vented their hot blood On the bleeding heart On this ex-virgin, They lighted imported cigarettes And burned the pubic hair of Maritess.
3) Marxism
"Social issues and different levels of life"
Its all about the night of the Piyon or a person who is a construction worker. He suffered hardships in his life, he suffered injury, wounds in his work.It was so hard for him to sleep at night, while thinking those different hard experiences in his life.It was also hard for her, He don’t know what many happen next, without the assurance to give food and the needs of his family. His income was only too small, so it was not enough for his family. Every night, he was always thinking and hoping that someday a change will happen, someday he will experience what he want for himself and for his family.I will tell them that they are lucky because not all children given a chance to go to school. So they need to study hard because someday an educated person have more opportunity to have a good job than those who are not attending school.
4)Marxism
"Under of social principles "
A Night of a Construction worker" or "Gabi ng Isang Piyon" is a Filipino poem by Lamberto E. Antonio. Gabi ng Isang Piyon, it is about a Filipino laborer who experienced difficulties and hardship in his work. Though everybody doesn't mind the sufferings, they still continue it as long as they have a goal to achieve. "Sa karimlan mo nga lamang maaaring ihabilin Ang kirot at silakbo ng iyong himaymay:" This line conveys a message that every sufferings, sacrifices of a worker would still end up in a good way. Construction workers keep working hard as the day becomes hotter and their job is not made easier by the layers of protective gear they have to wear. They go home, rest and go back to do it all again the following day. Being a construction worker is not easy. They still choose to work just to live in peace and choose to be there because of some illegal jobs.As the readers relate the literary criticism to this poem especially the cultural studies and also the culture of the Filipinos when it comes to family reunion, they will find out how good and kind the parents are. In this poem, the cultural studies approach is applied because of what the parents did to their children. The poem states the culture where the parents believed in. This poem also represents the culture of a one’s family inside and outside the house and also their ways on how they are going to face and solve their problems. The poem, Family Reunion discusses the attitudes of the parents when it comes to their children that even though their children did bad things, they can still forgive them no matter how difficult the problem is. The poem also wants to imply that the parents can really forgive their children without hesitations because there are no parents who can’t give another chance to their children. Just like in the Filipino culture when it comes to family reunion, Filipinos will do their best just to forgive their love one who committed mistake in order for their family reunion to be memorable.
5) Fiminisms/Moralism Critism
The Mareng Mensiya story belongs to the social.Social Here, the reader, especially the students of literature, carefully examines the interaction of man with man, of man with society. The interaction of man with their environment is also examined, social problems that have a great relationship with his success or failure. We chose the social one because the story Mareng Mensiya written by Fanny A. Garcia is related to the current and future events in our society.Just like Mareng Mensiya's marriage to the policeman, for him it was a success that the policeman gave him alimony, he also did not know what wrong he had done in society and social.Socialin the eyes of God.Unfortunately, his police officer died. his life with his daughter Mely is no longer prosperous. Added to this was Mely who got married early and left her mother alone. Only the neighbor took care of Mareng Mensiya until he died in severe cough This story also has a moral.
Moral: This is the literary discussion that is considered is the study, behavior, actions and the time it was made. However, not everything that is studied by the majority will be said to be considered is the lesson, habit, action and the time when it was done.Just like Mareng Mensiya in the story, he is a police officer. On his own, he does not know what will happen when he kills the policeman who is already married and he expresses his feelings and love for the police officer.

Exploring the world of Denny Ja’s thoughts through small gods
Introduction    In the world of intellectual conversation in Indonesia, it is impossible not to mention the name Denny Ja. As a famous intellectual and influential politician, Denny JA has brought a significant contribution in moving thoughts in this country. One of the most interesting works of Denny JA is his essay poem entitled “Little TuanTuhan”. This essay poem becomes a warm conversation and triggers a lot of controversy. In this article, we will explore the world of Denny JA’s thoughts through his view of “Little Tuan Tuan” and try to understand the message he wants to convey.    I. Introduction to Denny Ja    Denny Ja or complete Denny Januar Ali was born in Mojokerto on January 29, 1954. He is known as a social activist, academics, writers, and politicians who are critical of various social and political issues in Indonesia. Denny Ja was once the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) and also established a highly respected independent survey agency, the Indonesian Survey Circle (LSI). His famous work, including the “Little TuanTuhan” essay poem, which we will explore in this article.    II. Why “Little Tuan Tuan”?    In his essay poetry, Denny Ja argues that Indonesian people have a tendency to worship their leaders and consider them “small tunder”. According to Denny Ja, this is a dangerous attitude and can threaten democracy. He argues that society must be more critical of its leaders and not be trapped in blind cult.    III. Analysis of “Little TuanTuhan”    In his essay poetry, Denny Ja invites the reader to see more about the phenomenon of cult of leaders in Indonesia. He described how leaders are often considered as perfect extras, able to overcome all problems, and have never been wrong. Denny Ja shows how dangerous this way of thinking is and how it can affect political and social life in Indonesia.    Denny Ja also refers to the real example of the history of Indonesian politics, such as the cult of Sukarno and Suharto. He noted how the Indonesian people seemed unable to see the weaknesses of their leaders, even when their actions clearly harm the country and society.    In his essay poetry, Denny Ja also discusses why people tend to worship leaders. He argued that there are several factors that influence this behavior, including the culture and the mindset of strong collectivism in Indonesian society. Denny Ja also criticized the mass media and education which often strengthened cultures for leaders.    IV. Impact and implications    In the last chapter of his essay poetry, Denny Ja discussed the impact and implications of this “Little Tuan Tuanan” phenomenon. He emphasized how important society became more critical of their leaders and seeing them as ordinary people, with their own strengths and weaknesses. Denny Ja also invites readers to fight for healthy democracy and fight blind cult.    V. Conclusion    In this controversial essay poem, Denny Ja succeeded in describing clearly and sharply the phenomenon of the cult of leaders in Indonesia. He invited all of us to see leaders with critical eyes, not trapped in blind cultuals, and against this “small tunder” phenomenon. Although Denny Ja’s opinion often reaps controversy, his essay poetry is a call to be wiser in choosing and criticizing leaders in this country.    In ending this article, we are reminded to always think critically and not worship leaders without considering their strengths and weaknesses. In a world filled with “small tuanted”, we must keep holding on to the principles of healthy democracy and freedom of thought. Denny Ja has made an important contribution in bringing this thought to the community. We must respect his views and continue to explore the world of his thoughts through “small gods” and other work.

She was only 8 years old curled up in the corner of her bedroom. He smashed the door in and started desperately rummaging through her personal belongings. He was drenched in cold sweat, his body twitching as he pulled her up by her hair shouting at her nonsensically with slurred words. Her favorite soft toy caught his eye and he diverted his attention to ripping it apart while she watched helplessly. With his shaky hands he pulled out a small ziplock baggie filled with a estranged white powder from its remains and haistily left the room. She was left in tears.
Addiction id a medical condition that affects more than 2826 of us in singapore, these are only the number of people that have gotten in trouble for it. Addiction doesnt only affect the user but also their families and loved ones. It is  not a bad habit it is a disease that requires medical attention. This sickness affects Health work and breaks up families. these people, these living, breathing human beings in need to be helped and not punished. these users are suffering. their families are suffering. please help us...
During this class we discussed how creativity can be critical and critical thinking be creative. From the discussion with my classmates as well as further research, i learnt that we can discover creative ways to solve problems when we think critically. One of my classmates wrote a poem that stood out to me. It was this extremely emotionally evoking creative poem about the feeling of being trapped, i wassnt sure if it was about actual jail or an internal one but i felt it was very creative and was critically thought out to convey a message. It really brings attention to the issue he was writing about. As for my story, i feel that i did try to include both creativity and critical thinking into it. I chose to write about addiction, drug adiction  specifically. I like how i wrote from a third persons point of veiw about a loved one of the drug user and captured both his desperation as well as the impact that his actions had on his loved ones. However, i did not want to make him the antagonist and so i wrote a more critical second half of my short story to explain now addiction is a medical condition and the user is asking for help and not purpously trying to be desructive.
Another aspect of this class was learning about the 5 tactics to improve critical thinking. What stood out to me was the reminder that us as humans do have biases and that it takes a conscious effort to think past ‘confirmation bias’.
in conclusion, This class explored the intersection of creativity and critical thinking, emphasizing the importance of critical thinking in problem-solving. Students wrote poems and stories about addiction, incorporating creativity and critical thinking to convey messages. They learned about the five tactics to improve critical thinking and the importance of overcoming biases.
