I HAVE THOUGHTS TO SHARE.

THEM AND THEIR hypothetical POKEMON TEAM (i would like to hear other people's thoughts because i am unsure and i plan to post this on the subreddit eventually)

explanations under the cut (its gonna be extensive so be prepared) (this has been rotting in my brain for a while)

KYBORG

he has a secret soft spot for his pokemon, if they faint or get injured he worries really badly

he likes to bond with them during training :D he pesters the others for pokemon battles

umbreon, poochyena - i feel like they kinda just have the same 'mysterious, dark' vibes that kyborg wants to have has!! but funnily enough, they're not as scary as they seem. very affectionate!! like dogs!! kyborg loves them

riolu - okay so think with me here.. riolu/lucario can read auras and emotions and so they know that kyborg isnt a bad person and they know when he's trying to mask his emotions ??!!???? so riolu would be understanding of him n they'd be pretty close

also i'd just like to think riolu (and the rest of his pokemon) enjoy battling alongside kyborg

scorbunny/froakie - when i see these pokemon i think of athleticism and/or dexterity and i couldn't decide between the two :'3

scorbunny/froakie would go on runs / exercise with kyborg, they have a similar personality type where they're both brash, energetic, enthusiastic and they click easily like that!!

though i imagine froakie is more calculated in battles compared to scorbunny whos more impulsive

alolan vulpix - SPOILERS FOR EP 33 (?)

this vulpix, alongside hannibal (perhaps a dragonair) and gumbo (the linoone), was fighting against .. lets say abomasnow?

and during that fight lets say gum gum and kyborg interfered by sending out their pokemon and assisting in the battle n kyborg became really fond of the vulpix and decided to keep him as a per

WHY alolan vulpix? idk i think it'd be fitting since kyborg has some ties to snow and ice and also because i believe the region they were in during that arc was snowy !!1

BART

he performs little shows with his lute and his pokemon!! and he also occasionally has pokemon battles

he loves his pokemon dearly tbh and i feel like all of them appreciate music in some way :3!!

pikachu - one of the pokemon he's owned for a long time! his pikachu particularly is quite fond of his trainer and his quirks n music, it helped the crew during the time bart was on the jebediah!!

i have no explanation for this one actually but a fun thought is that pikachu would evolve into an alolan raichu (look at the little guy surf!!) and this would mean that bart would live in the alolan region so who knows honestly... LISTEN HE JUST HAS A PIKACHU

chatot - a gift from marrrge to bart, passed down because the two started to bond while on the ship. they sang together n marrrge could tell they really had potential so boom kapow wachow

ALSO ABOUT THE MIMICKI NG THING chatot can mimic voices (from what i remember) and i think it'd be funny if it mimicked kyborg like the kenkus from that one library and it annoys kyborg to no bounds

mantine - caught during his time on the ship! mantine sometimes swim near ships in little packs and i suppose this one took a liking to bart, and bart was pretty fond of it as well :D not much to say here except for the fact its a silly little water guy

tauros - bart got like.. a baby auroch or something right?? idk i forgot but either way he is (weirdly) fond of beastly bulls and i suppose a tauros is a good substitute

i also like to imagine bart likes mounting (strange wording) his pokemon since it just means he doesn't have to walk much and he likes being a bit higher up than he usually is n tauros (and maybe mantine) are good for that

would he own the notorious pokemon? that is but a thought left for the audience.

GUM GUM

he's weirdly lucky, seems to have a good chance at finding shiny pokemon and other rare things

wonder why

anyways, his pokemon r kinda just companions that he likes to hug and hang out with :) occasionally he does battle with them

floette - flower buddy!!! i'd like to think that gum gum likes to spend time in flower fields when he has the chance and the one thing he's honestly pretty knowledgeable in is flowers

so he might've met a flabebe or a floette and they became buddies! he had no idea it was a shiny until maybe one of the party members mentioned it

bulbasaur - okay so i struggled on this decision but then it came to me that bulbasaur is PERFECT idk they have the same vibes and it eventually starts growing a little flower when it evolves

i can't explain this one they just have the same vibes and energy. i think they'd go well together

tyrunt - so let's imagine that for some reason there were some fossil pokemon that kinda just escaped and that's how we explain the dinosaur encounters from rhe campaign

anyways he befriends the tyrunt in typical gum gum fashion (kyborg is SHOCKED because out of all the pokemon this one was a shiny) and they become friends! it loves hugs but it often initiated them running full speed and knocking over the victim (which is fine for gum gum, not fun for anyone else though)

yamper - SPOILERS FOR GUM GUM'S ARC

despite gum gum's bad experiences with rum rum (WHICH BY THE WAY rum rum perhaps was a rockruff that evolved into midnight lycanroc or a houndour/houndoom and that bite wouldve HURT) he's still fond of puppies n yamper helped with this slight uneasiness he's felt

idk i think gum gum deserves a silly little puppy

all his pokemon r very cuddly :)

MUDD

prefers mellow, calm pokemon since he finds it a bit tiring to keep up with high energy pokemon (unlike the other three)

his pokemon are quite well trained!! he's caught a lot of them and they're all very well taken care of

despite his pokemon being pretty strong, he doesn't find much use in pokemon battles

snivy - got the snivy during his time with his family! royal background buddies!!! snivy is a very calm pokemon (but it shares the same sass that mudd has), they're pretty close :D

linoone - GUMBO!!!!! at first, linoone wasn't too big of a fan of mudd but they gradually becamw closer! they do everything together, if you look at mudd linoone would always be on his shoulders or being carried

lycanroc - its the vibes honestly..

midday lycanroc is calm and loyal, and maybe mudd has raised it since it was a rockruff so they're also pretty well bonded!

idk i think they'd get along well

lapras, gogoat - both pokemon that remind me of mudd's personality

i cant explain this except for the fact that theyre correlated to some of the pokemon he's wild shaped into so ....

Hi, I'm a huge fan of your Detective Pikachu AHIT au, so much so that you've inspired me to try and make an AHIT au of my own. I was wondering if you had any tips or advice for me though because I've never really written an au before, let alone a fanfic. I'm not sure how to word it well, but I'll try my best. I guess what I'm wondering specifically is how do you find the balance between standing apart from the original media and making the two blend together in a way that feels natural? If that makes sense? And/or general advice. I've been wanting to write this story for a long time but actually writing (and posting it for others to see) is very intimidating. Sorry if this is a lot to ask for though. I really look up to you a lot when it comes to writing stories. You do such a good job of making the characters easy to relate to and I can almost physically feel myself in your stories when I'm reading them because of how full of life they are. If the advice thing is too much, I understand. If nothing else I wanted so say thank you for all the AHIT stories you've written. They've helped me through some difficult times. Still are. It gives me something to look forward to when everything else is unclear. Thank you very much <3

Oh gosh, first, thank you so much, this is so kind and I’m so glad and grateful my stories can do that for you ;o; <333 It means a lot! I’m happy to share my thought processes for writing! Under the cut because I get a little rambly, but I hope it helps a bit and feel free to ask me to clarify anything!

For balancing aus, what I usually do is pinpoint the main pieces of the original media that I think are most important to the media itself and then if there are any matching themes/vibes with the media I’m working with, I latch onto those too. For example! The main thing I zeroed in on in the Detective Pikachu au is how the dad gets turned into a pokemon, gets amnesia, and has to team up with his kid to unravel the mystery surrounding his predicament. That’s the part that, I think, makes it a Detective Pikachu au first and foremost and it’s where I’m the most faithful to the source, and then I deviate quite a bit, like how I keep the prince/snatcher a lawyer and turn him into an eevee instead because I thought it fit the character more.

And then with that au, I threw in the shadow pokemon mechanic because I thought the artificial corruption of hearts and closing them fit how Vanessa and the prince in ahit are corrupted/overshadowed by their heartbreak. And a smaller thing I did to combine Detective Pikachu with the prince was how, in the movie, detective pikachu is obsessed with coffee and since I made the prince’s partner a polteageist, it made sense to have him have an affinity for tea. And then from there it was a matter of just playing around with how the characters and the world of ahit would change with pokemon!

The most important advice I can give is to write the moments/tropes/emotions that you most want to! For as much as I can justify my choices for the story above, I also just really wanted to write them like that, haha. Like I just adore the shadow pokemon mechanic and wish it was utilized in games more, so I brought it into the story so I could play with it!

I totally get nervous posting stories too. And, looking back, there are a lot of ways I could improve the aus, like I feel that my majora’s mask au could have more influence from majora’s mask itself, but also I do love the story I ended up with! So I think, just writing things that make you happy/call to you is the best place to start. There are a lot of moments in those aus that I was certain no one else but me would enjoy, but then they ended up being some favorites of readers! (Like Wuka ;w; I wasn’t going to keep him in as long but I was delighted to find others loved him too, so I indulged in more shameless owo moments hehe).

This got a little long, but I hope it helps and I hope you start writing your story soon!!! I think my favorite thing about stories is how many ways you can tell the same one, or similar ones, or ones that start in the same place but branch into different paths, and how they all matter. In some way, big or small, stories matter. And your story matters! Wherever you start it, and however you guide it through its journey, it matters! And I most certainly look forward to reading it when it’s ready! <333

NOW for a VERY unusual set of Fakemon, I present you Grananty and the predatory line of Eeriedescent - based on a real butterfly species and its unusual life cycle:

The Large Blue (Phengaris arion)

It's worth reading through all the Pokedex Entries one by one for this! And then go check out this video fully illustrating the life of one of Britains rarest butterflies :D

While I fully embrace the dark undertones of the Large Blue with its carnivorous caterpillar in my Fakemon designs, it's worth noting that this is in fact one of my favorite butterfly species for requiring SO many unique factors and circumstances to succeed in its evolution and I don't mean to demonize it!

Parasitic species the like are an important factor in keeping an ecosystem balanced and stable by preventing overpopulation of certain other species, so please don't grow resentful towards the Large Blue, but rather embrace the unusual butterfly for the macabre yet fascinating role it plays in nature :D

Qsmp Characters As Pokemon!!!

(Pretty big post so I'm adding a keep reading)

Badboyhalo - Zoroark

Need I say more. Zoroark transforms to other pokemon to trick people, which I think links to Bad's pranks and shenanigans. Also the Color scheme is similar. Zoroark is said to have extremely strong bonds with its pack ("family comes first"). Also the Hisuian varient is described to look as the "embodiment of death".

2. Forever - Arcanine

Arcanine is said to be a pokemon praised for its beauty, specifically its mane (Forever's hair). Many are said to admire it (Forever gets bishes), and Arcanine is a powerful and loyal pokemon (Forever is a little dogboy coded). Also Arcanine is supposed to be regal and majestic (president).

3. Etoiles - Lycanroc (I COULDN'T CHOOSE A FORM SO I SHOWED MIDDAY)

Ok so all forms of Lycanroc fit except Midnight form. The Dusk form is said to have an INCREDIBLE fighting spirit, but the midday form is REALLY loyal and protective. This is Etoiles. He protecc, he attacc, but most of all he is the most dogboy coded character on this entire server.

4. Antoine - Type: Null

Y'all, here me out, LET ME COOK. Type: Null is said to WEAR A MASK to RETAIN ITS POWER (I subscribe to the paper bag cryptid design) lest it go on a rampage, and there are research notes that mention it being created by some government agency (federation). Also LOOK AT THESE TWO THINGS AND TELL ME THEY ARE NOT BOTH CRYPTIDS.

5. Foolish - Gholdengo

There's not a lot of pokedex entries for me to justify this, but look at that pokemon's swag. It's surfing. And it's golden. But on a pokedex info level it is a very friendly and happy go lucky pokemon that easily makes friends with people, and i feel like that fits his vibe.\

Alright that's all for now, I spent 40 minutes doing research on this only to get 5 pokemon for characters so I'm a little wiped out. Feel free to give me ideas in the tags!

Yes, I know what day it is. No, this isn't a joke post.

I was inspired to attempt designing a Mega Mew. It turned out to be a lot of fun, thinking about what would make sense. Now, this is my first concept, so any and all parts of it are open to reworking, but I like this enough to show and explain my process!

I'll go in-depth about my choices below, but I'll warn there's potential religious implication--I kinda leaned into a connection to Arceus, but I don't know how much it counts as religion. It's mostly just the canon lore with a sprinkling of widely accepted head-canons and theories. (Religion may play more of a role if I decide to add this Mega to my story.)

As a disclaimer, this is all just for my own fun and I'm not claiming it to be canon in the slightest. I just felt like it would be more fun to weave the canon into it. :)

Without further ado, on with the word wall!

The Type: Psychic/Fairy--Connected with the choice of the chest decoration/gem. A few Pokedex entries state that Mew will only appear to those who are "pure of heart". Mega evolution is said to happen when the Pokemon has a strong bond with the trainer. Considering that, for a trainer to have SEEN a Mew, let alone catch it and have a bond strong enough to Mega evolve would be, in my humble opinion, the ultimate feat for a trainer. So I wanted to put in a symbolic representation of Mew opening its heart, showcasing its full trust in its trainer. It's also the center of Mew's powers, thus the wispy ribbony things. I felt that the Fairy type best fits with the whole bond thing. (The mischievous side of fairies also fits Mew, but maybe not so much in its Mega form, as I'll explain below.)

Body Shape/The Crown: It's probably obvious that I leaned into Mega Mewtwo Y for the general shape, and the head crest thing. But I took the crest in a different direction--As a connection to Arceus. This is where potential religion comes in, but again, it's mostly just canon Pokemon lore. Within the lore, Arceus is considered to be the first Pokemon/being. Mew is widely accepted to be among the first Pokemon created by Arceus, and many see Mew as the one to create the rest of Pokemon life. (Barring the Creation Trio and possibly the Lake Spirits--I don't know where the latter stand in the general lore.) So I took it in the direction of Mew being an Heir, giving it a crest that resembles both Arceus' head shape and a crown. In a way, I feel this Mega could also count as an Origin form (or a peek at it), if we were to see the Creation Trio and Mew as direct siblings. (Megas are theorized to be them tapping into their primal power, so I think it works.) If there is a reason other than Mega Mewtwo Y for the body, it would be that Mew is more "mature", and takes on a more grown-up and "regal" appearance.

The Colors: The main body of course is Mew's natural body color, while the white (gold on the shiny) accents are taken from Arceus. The purple is meant to be an "overflow stain" of its Psychic power, but also bleeds into...

A Connection to Mewtwo: Mewtwo was created to be the worlds most powerful Pokemon, and as such it makes sense to me that Mew's Mega form would be brought into the mix. For normal Mewtwo it mostly shows in the colors (although the chest bump could be a smaller-scale version of the heart gem), but where it really shows is in Mewtwo's Y form. Again, tapping into its primal power, but taking a slightly altered form.

hello everyone and good afternoon, my name is pepperochau and i am here to talk to you today about the one, the only, the futher mucker itself: dudunsparce. this will be a bit of the read, so follow the cut to see the rest!

majestic, is it not? personally i was not the biggest fan when it was revealed, but it has grown on me since then.

now, there is at current a very strong, loud refrain in the pokemon fandom that dudunsparce is a joke, and was always meant to be a joke. they say "people have wanted an epic dragon evolution for twenty years, and gamefreak has trolled them"; "dudunsparce is supposed to be a bad/lame/dumb design because it's a joke".

however! i disagree. i have been a lifelong fan of dunsparce, ever since i was a young malformed guttersnipe who thought it was a mythical pokemon, and i can safely say i've never wanted it to become a dragon. however, i also have never viewed it as a joke pokemon. so to hear people write off the design of dudunsparce as simply "a joke" has frustrated me to no end. so to you, reader, i would like to provide an explanation for why dudunsparce is what it is—a mess.

so, let's start at the beginning of the line with dunsparce.

many people will look at dunsparce's name and their mind immediately goes to dunce, sparce. and, fair enough, as it does look a bit dopey doesn't it? Other languages also give it names meaning "dumb" or "oafish" like the German Dummisel and the French Isolourdo respectively. now, I cant speak on how strong brand consistency was back in Gen 2, so maybe they were just aping off the same perception most English speakers had of the name. or it is possible that TPCi had always intended this interpretation. who is to say.

but there is a more obvious, widely overlooked aspect of its name: Dun. as in a subadult version of an insect, traditionally used when describing mayflies.

IN FACT this is such an underacknowledged aspect of its name that even on Bulbapedia, one of the most important secondary sources of information on pokemon next to serebii, i was hard pressed to find any mention of it at any point earlier than 2022, in an article revision that SIMILARLY went unnoted and uncommented on.

future editions of this article maintain both definitions of the word "dun".

but with this aspect of its name in mind, you'll notice that the rather un-tsuchinoko-like aspects of its design become more coherent, like its near-useless bug wings and stripey back. because its not just a snake with a fat tummy, but a fat bumblebee as well! wow!!! so cool!!!!!

now that this preamble is out of the way, we can finally move onto the mon of the hour: dudunsparce

pokedex entries for dudunsparce's 3-segment form mention that "the number of segments a Dudunsparce’s body has is determined by the Pokémon’s genes." at first glance it feels like a bit of a lore cop out for a formchange with no effect on gameplay. but remember how dunsparce has some partial insect inspiration? with this in mind, dudunsparce reveals itself to be, first and foremost, a reference to the Drosophila fruit fly's bithorax mutation:

as you can see, sometimes the genes for the termination of the thorax are copied accidentally, resulting in a copied thorax in the afflicted insect! and with "dun" meaning a subadult insect, we can reconceptualize dudunsparce from a simple joke, to a pokemon species whose inherent genetic mutations have kept it from reaching its true adult form! it even has the stripey butt that a fruit fly has!! so cool!!! a bit sad though, don't you think?

but there are still yet unexplored depths to the design of dudunsparce. for example: why does dudunsparce have a two-layered drill tail? why is there a random spiral on its first segment? well, allow me to introduce you to yet another muckerfuther: the cuélebre.

now i know what you may be thinking: this looks nothing like dudunsparce. and certainly, the resemblance is minimal. but allow me to share with you some mythological information about the cuélebre:

The cuélebre is a multi-winged serpent from Cantabrian and Asturian folklore, both of which are regions of modern-day spain.

The cuélebre's impervious scales grow thicker with age

The cuelebre's only weak spot is its throat

The cuelebre lives in deep caves

The cuelebre retreats to Mar Cuajada in old age, a place with diamonds covering the bottom

sound familiar? it should, because you will notice that dudunsparce mirrors all of these traits almost to a T:

Paldea is based on Spain, and Dudunsparce is a fat snake with multiple wings; or, a winged serpent.

Dudunsparce has much bulkier defensive stats than its preevolution Dunsparce (125/80/75 compared to 100/70/65), and has an extra hard "cap" layer on its tail

There is a seemingly random spiral pattern on the underside of Dudunsparce's first segment, or on its throat, regardless of form

Dudunsparce is mentioned by the pokedex to make sprawling nests in the bedrock, and is only find in the wild in Area Zero

The lowest point of Area Zero is covered in large, diamantine crystals

and for the people who still want dudunsparce to be a "joke": the cuélebre isn't even a very impressive dragon in itself: it hoards treasure and fairy women, and if you encounter it on the night of Midsummer, then you can kill it by tricking it into eating a bread or cake that's full of pins or hot irons. the worst thing it does in folklore that i can find is that it floods a town once because they weren't able to give it its daily cow head. the cuélebre is a nuisance first, and a (sort of) dragon second.

now, i don't want to be raining on people's fun, so i'll take a moment to take my lumps: i wasn't able to find very much information on the cuélebre, so there's a strong chance i am misrepresenting the creature here. aso, people are allowed to view dudunsparce as just a joke pokemon, and to like it as sich, and that's fine! i'm not here to tell you how to engage with your hobbies!

but, when i see that being the only reason that people give for liking the design? when i see that being given as the only reason given for why it looks the way it does? when i see pokemon videos on youtube that quickly bring up and then dismiss dudunsparce as a joke as if that was the only reason behind its design at all, without any kind of additional explanation or exploration of the design? it gets a bit frustrating, and tiresome. i mean hell, i maybe spent about three hours total in researching for this post, and i can confidently say that's far more time than all poketubers have spent on it combined.

the short of it os, that there is always more to be uncovered with fictional material. even with something so seemingly simple as a fat, goofy snake.

Favorite Pokémon? 👀

omg i was thinking about this lately, i've been revisiting nostalgia from pokemon. there's too many designs/concepts i like!

i'll give you a really vague answer though because i'm a bit too indecisive, my favorite type hands down is probably ghost type, so naturally anything spooky and cute like gengar is a 10/10 for me. the old games like pkmn red/blue + crystal are super nostalgic so i tend to gravitate towards some old designs. but usually for pkmn starters i would choose water types, so stuff like totodile, mudkip, piplup are always the cutest. i remember growing up and having plush toys of all of them. water type has to be one of my favorites as well~

there's a lot of clever ghost pkmn designs. i love reading the spooky pokedex entries. i'm a fan of horror films and scary things in general. but i specifically really liked the concept of froslass from gen IV, she's a humanoid ghost/ice type that resembles a woman in a kimono, based on japanese folklore. (i remember it evolving from snorunt when exposed to a dawn stone in diamond/pearl/platinum)

anyway what makes this design one of my favorites...

froslass is clearly inspired by yuki-onna, which translates into snow woman (雪女). in japanese folklore these ghosts prey on travelers that get lost in blizzards and snowstorms near mountains. does that not sound spooky and cool as hell? anyway here's the pokemon legends: arceus pokedex entry. we have no choice but to stan froslass...

i missed pla's anniversary again but i don't have anything to post anyways, so i'm just gonna list some of my favourite parts of the game cuz it's one of my favourite games ever and i'll take any excuse to talk about it

i love the way the sky is modelled! pla's artstyle didn't do everything perfect but the sky is so pretty i look up at it all the time

the music! pokemon music is always good but pla absolutely nailed it when it came to mixing dppt tracks into new ones to create something atmospheric and nostalgic, or just coming up with new songs. some of my favs are aftermath, crimson mirelands 2, jubilife village, cobalt coastlands 1, ancient retreat, volo's battle theme, professor laventon's theme, the trailer music, palina's theme and caution (legendary)

the pokedex! i absolutely loved reading professor laventon's pokedex entries they're so cute. i really want to make a physical version of the hisui pokedex but i can't find a notebook with enough pages

the gameplay! i've spent so many hours just running around cuz the game itself is fun to play even when you aren't doing much. catching pokemon feels very smooth and seamless

the battles against the nobles! they were a good mix of fun and challenging, especially against arceus (mildly related- watching purplecliffe fight electrode was extremely funny)

It’s very interesting to me that, excluding the gen 3 fossil Pokémon who had to be rock types because they’re fossils (which was true of all fossil Pokémon prior to Gen 8), it took pokemon 16 years to make clearly aquatic Pokémon that live in the water but are not water type. Honestly the aquatic Pokémon that aren’t water types are some of the most interesting Pokémon to me. Armaldo, Cradily, Eelektross, and Dhelmise are fascinating. As are other Pokémon that are clearly based on aquatic animals but don’t actually come from the ocean like Malamar, Crabominable, and Grapploct, oh and Klawf too I suppose.

To me it feels like it makes perfect sense for a Pokémon to be a fish or other sea creature without also having elemental water powers, but in the games it’s actually very rare. It’s kind of a shame because the reason the water type is by far the most common is partially because almost every Pokémon that lives in rivers, lakes, and oceans in each new region are made into water types. Even one of the major exceptions, Eelektross and it’s pre evolved forms, aren’t actually found in the ocean despite their pokedex entries talking about them living in the ocean.

I’m almost certainly reading too much into it, but maybe the in game explanations for the reason so many aquatic Pokémon are water type is that they evolved to be water types in order to have resistance to water type attacks. That also might explain why 3/4 of the Pokémon I listed as exceptions have a type that is super effective against the water type. Thinking about why fictional animals developed their evolutionary abilities is probably going a bit deeper than necessary, but it is very interesting to me. There’s also the consideration of Pokémon that live near water like Palossand having developed an ability specifically to benefit from being hit by water moves.

● Ingo, first of all, is heavily involved in the traditions. He is inspired by the happiness brought on around from this time in his youth. The memories of helping his mom decorate the house, cook food for the family, and wrap gifts make him feel warm inside. Of course, it's a bit lonely to just share the holiday with Emmet alone (though he doesn't necessarily mind), they do end up taking Christmas day off and go visit their parents. All the workers who worked with them on Christmas Eve and day get given gifts, however, alongside a catered meal because Ingo feels awful that the needed to separate them from their family.

○ Emmet, on the other hand, is indifferent. He enjoys the giving and receiving aspect and the time off to enjoy with his family, but he's just… Not really as driven as his brother is. Ingo nearly cried when Emmet volunteered to work on Christmas day one year. They just didn't have enough experienced staff, and someone needed to be there in case something went wrong.

● Ingo decorates everywhere. Emmet blinks and their apartment has a tiny tree standing off in the corner and garland wrapped around the living room walls. Gifts are tucked under the tree, and Ingo has made a fruitcake. Emmet nods and accepts this. Then he enters the station and sees a human-sized nutcracker next to a fifteen foot (4.5 metre) tree. The tree is decorated with many train related ornaments and cards left to them by riders, Emmet finds that somewhat cute. He stares blankly at the nutcracker, however, and looks around for his brother. A Delibird walks up to him and coos. (The younger twin makes a choice to avoid the nutcracker whenever possible. Its blank eyes stare into him.)

○ The Delibird, as it turns out, was a pokemon Ingo went out and captured. It's true that many children were told stories about Delibirds leaving gifts for good children during their youth, but Emmet finds himself worried about his brother's affinity toward the bird. (Thankfully it's not competitively viable, so the poor thing will not be used year round. Ingo does take wonderful care of it, however. Emmet watches the bird chill in front of their vents in the summer in mild terror.)

● Their pokemon get dragged into Ingo's madness. Chandelure is wrapped in colourful fairy lights as she floats behind her beloved trainer. Haxorus and Excadrill are given hats and duty to hand out goodies to commuters. Both eagerly do it, happy to appease their trainer. Crustle chirps as he runs around the station carrying Delibird to help it give gifts to taller people. He is wrapped with a shiny tinsel that makes him quite eye-catching. Klinklang has little to, does walk around with a glowing red nose on each of its faces. The battles during this season are quite funny. (Garbodor is tasked with waving patrons in while wearing a little a hat. It's much too small for her size and is oddly endearing.)

○ Emmet's pokemon are not immune from Ingo's decorating. Galvantula is bribed with batteries to makes web art related to Christmas, and Archeops helps hang up holiday lighting and decorations much too high for Ingo to reach. Eelektross accepts his fate when Ingo places a Stantler headband on him. Emmet screeches about this, however. His precious starter looks ridiculous! His Joltiks are also seen scuttling about with lights on them. (They are, too, bribed with batteries.) Only Durant truly resists this treatment.

● Now, after being in a relationship, Ingo is even more impassioned, if that was at all possible. He wants off definitely to spend time with you and meet your family alongside his. His dream is to decorate the apartment with you and take a few cosy pictures, too. Ingo can die a happy man after you help him decorate the tree.

● He is, in fact, cheesy and hangs up a mistletoe. Then, the older twin never dares to request a kiss under it because he's too flustered. Though, if you're brave and give him a peck, he simply perishes. You have defeated him, and he has achieved everything he wanted in life.

● Ingo tries his best to make hot chocolate for you both while snow piles up outside from the harsh Unovan winter outside. Crustle is curled up beside you both on the couch while he turns on romantic Christmas movies. The joke you make about him going white girl crazy was not appreciated. (His hot chocolate is quite bitter, but the sweetness from the added marshmallows helps balance it out.)

● His mother eagerly tells you the story of how he realised the Delibird legend wasn't true. Apparently, little ten-year-old Ingo approached on her on Christmas even with a deathly serious expression. He motioned her down to his level, to which she obliged. The older twin then whispered into her ear that he knew she was the Delibird gifter and that the secret was safe with him for Emmet. She hasn't stopped laughing about it to this day.

● The night of Christmas day is spent quietly snuggled up against each other, with his Delibird cawing at you both and handing out the gifts you got for each other. The model train you got for Ingo made his eyes go wide and a small smile dance on his lips. His gift to you was a silver ring with a small railroad track on it. Ingo leaned toward you and pressed a similar ring on his finger to line up with yours. You grinned as you saw how they connected. He truly was a romantic.

○ He's a bit more interested in the holidays after starting to be in a long-term relationship. Emmet is still not much of a decorator, but if his partner wanted to, he'd be more than willing to help. (Ingo's betrayal is evident on his face when he finds this out.) He's more willing to take Christmas day off (though, admittedly, he's still probably on call just in case anything happens), so you get to enjoy a lazy Emmet napping on the couch with several random desserts on the coffee table. Durant is also enjoying himself. His idea of a good Christmas is exchanging presents and enjoying sweets.

○ He hangs up mistletoe like his brother, but then becomes a menace. You ARE kissing him every time you end up under it together. He will get you every single time. He's a monster about them. You'll likely have had a full make-out session under it before it's put away.

○ Emmet begs for hot chocolate. He even dares look up how to make some from scratch. It's a terrifying sight to catch the younger twin chopping chocolate up in the kitchen in an apron. His eyes even dart over to stare at you when he notices you. (Alternatively, this madness can be avoided if you make him some yourself. Or, even better, you can make it together and feed him chocolate.) His is always a bit too sweet and swirled up with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. He dearly enjoys it, so you manage your way through the concoction.

○ When you visit his family for the holidays, his father sighs as he recalls Emmet sneaking out of his room to watch him put the presents out for them. He tilted his head with his smile still on his lips when he turned around to see him. He wanted to tell him off, but he just said that Ingo doesn't need to know. (Emmet later cried about the Delibird legend not being real, but no one knows about that outside of Ingo.)

○ The chilly night of Christmas day is spent cuddled up after seeing Ingo and Elesa off. Emmet made a blanket cocoon and trapped you in it while a league battle played on the television. Just as you both began to doze off in the comfortable embrace, you jolted awake. Your gifts! You escaped the cocoon and presented your box to the sleepy man. Emmet yawned and opened it. He held the Joltik plush curiously before bursting into giggles. The younger twin handed you his own, which made you grin. Inside was an actual sleeping Joltik. You wondered why he had waited so late to wrap your gift (and left air holes). The little darling squeaked and stared up at you with purple eyes. A shiny. Emmet giggled when you pressed a kiss to the baby arachnid's head.

● He's gone feral about getting together a good holiday for little Erin. This small boy doesn't even know how much his father was excited for this. As a baby, he was put in little Delibird and Christmas themed onesies before being moved to honorary decorator (He stands there and hands Ingo ornaments.) Erin even gets to help in the kitchen, varying from handing ingredient to actually helping prepare things based on how old he is.

● Ingo excitedly tells Erin all about the Delibird tradition, while also assuring Erin that he's such a good boy that he has nothing to worry about. This means, of course, Ingo buys so many gifts for Erin and pretends it was a Delibird. Unlike Ingo, Erin doesn't stop believing in Delibird until the other parents thinks it's time to tell him.

● The holidays become Ingo's favourite of the year even more so, as he realises what he loved so much was the celebration of family. That something was his most desired dream for his entire life. He cuddles up with you and your sweet boy and lets himself be contented in the winter chill.

● “Dad…” Erin nervously squeaked at Ingo, who looked up from his laptop. Clearing his throat, Ingo replied, “Yes, Erin?” The boy gazed down at the floor nervously and swallowed. “I know you are the Delibird. Uncle Emmet told me.” Ingo proceeded to simply perishes. Betrayed once more by the man he shared a womb with.

○ Now he's holiday crazy. It's awakened. Two identical girls have made him want to celebrate Christmas. He hates being on-call now. Emma and Inka are his darling little girls who go between being dressed in some of the goofiest onesies to dresses (and pants, sometimes in Inka's case). He decorates and lets Emma order him around on where to put things, while Inka tries to climb their tree. The girls enjoy his sugary sweet hot chocolate, and now you're outnumbered 3 to 1. A cruel world you live in.

○ Emmet does tell his girls about the Delibird tradition, but they seem only partially curious. He coos that they're so sweet and cute that no Delibird would ever find them naughty (much unlike the many times his teachers and parents assured him he was being bad). This is later proven wrong when Inka nearly sets the house on fire and Emma fights a kid at school (who was being mean to Inka, in her defence). Emma and Inka stop believing when they set out to watch the Delibird bring them their gifts. They only see Emmet.

○ The holidays are absolutely his beloved time of year. He gets to spend time with his partner and sweet girls. He truly only settled down because he felt like he was getting older, and it was the natural progression in his life. He smiles when he brings his cups of hot chocolate into the living room and sees each girl on either side of you watching a league battle. Inka points out mistakes and Emma whines she wants to watch a contest instead.

○ Emmet stared at the two girls before him as he was placing out the presents in distress. “You two are being verrry naughty,” he warns. Inka bursts into giggles while Emma starts crying. One believed more than the other, it seemed.

....from how Kyurem is described to me on Bulbapedia, it's ice is kinda meant to preserve and lock. Preserve in the sense that it's ice is keeping itself stable. Lock in the sense that it's powers are being kept at bay by the cold. Ice is both benefiting and hindering Kyurem in a way and I think that's really interesting.

Eva is the Chosen of Kyurem and while I have constantly gone back and forth on that, I want to try and distinguish her powers, like all of the other Chosens I've done recently. Reading those dex entries kinda helped me with that. Kyurem's- and Eva's- ice( or ice energy according to the pokedex) is meant to preserve and lock. I even somewhat hesitate to call it ice- it's more so cold air being used and manipulated. At least that's the vibe I get. But honestly, it's still ice so. Yeah.

Outside of that I can't exactly think of other ways that Eva's powers work? Ice manipulation is honestly the bare bones of it and it really hinges on how creative Eva can get - and trust me the girl can get creative. She's an engineer, she's going to try and find as many ways as possible to utilize her ice. Her ice isn't exactly never melt ice ( which cannot be melted at all), but it can last long. She can also shape it to her will, repurpose it in ways that would be beneficial to her. Heck she can even transfer some of that ice energy into her tech. A ray gun that's effectively a man made ice beam. Now THAT'S something.

All of this makes me think of Carol again. They're the Chosen of Calyrex and have small perks of its steeds, one of which is an ice type. I'm going to have to revisit that. Honestly Carol's powers entirely hmmm.

A team for Uni Cornelius from the @asknightstars Sparklecare AU!

Skitty - Skitty has the habit of becoming fascinated by moving objects and chasing them around. This Pokémon is known to chase after its own tail and become dizzy. It is said to be difficult to earn its trust. However, it is extremely popular for its cute looks and behavior.

Clefairy - It can be found in quiet mountain areas on a full moon's night. Its dancing and its tiny, faintly glowing wings confer upon it a lovely fairylike quality. Its adorable behavior and cry make it highly popular. However, this cute Pokémon is rarely found.

Furfrou (Heart Trim) - Left alone, its fur will grow longer and longer, but it will only allow someone it trusts to cut it. There was an era when aristocrats would compete to see who could trim their Furfrou's fur into the most exquisite style.

Smeargle - It draws symbols all over the place to mark its territory. In towns with many Smeargle, the walls are covered in graffiti.

Galarian Ponyta - This Pokémon will look into your eyes and read the contents of your heart. If it finds evil there, it promptly hides away.

Pincurchin - This Pokémon is so timid that even brushing against seaweed will make it discharge electricity in surprise. Its lips do not conduct electricity.

Details:

There was a big focus on artsy and cute Pokemon for this one.

Smeargle, Furfrou, and Pincurchin were all art-based picks, based on Uni’s hobbies. Smeargle is for the obvious painter angle. Furfrou is based on its trim and styling, and of the ones I had to pick from, the Heart Trim seemed best. And Pincurchin is a bit of a roundabout reference to sewing. I think its timidness also makes a fun match.

Skitty is a LPS/TFS reference, and I think its goofy cuteness pairs well. Clefairy is a friendship evolution, a rare Pokemon, and a Fairy-Type, so I thought it matched well, given Uni’s species. And finally, Galarian Ponyta, because obviously this team needed the unicorn, though I think its Pokedex entry justifies its place here.

okay, the good thing I can say about this is that jaide has definitely covered so much ground in terms of exploring the regions and she has definitely been to unova (it's her favorite trip so far) so it's not odd to say she wouldn't go to sinnoh as well :33 since this is gameverse jaide, i'll only base all of their attitudes on the actual games and not the manga

jaide isn't really that good at remembering most of the champions and elite 4s because she's not that interested (exception being steven because she fucking loves devon's products HAAGGEGSGDHS) but I do think blue has at least talked about cynthia at some point, having some ounce of respect towards her and appreciating her very competent team. i think she would like cynthia very much! not that I can see why she wouldn't like her, but I think cynthia's talks about pokemon history (and by extention, the creation trio) would get jaide interested into listening :] jaide is the type of person to love reading entries in the pokedex

next, dawn!

sadly I do not know much about her (and im sure she has a whole personality in pokemas that I can go off from). jaide has worked with many professors and if I were to assume that dawn is working under professor rowan, they would get along very well too - dawn introducing the entire sinnoh dex to jaide would get her very excited, and perhaps make a wishlist on the pokemon she'd personally wanna catch (... she wants the fire monkey 💥💥)

lastly, N!

I like this a lot, let's assume the entire BW story had finished already so we won't have to stress over the plot. obviously jaide would be more than intrigued to know that n knows how to read other emotions and feelings of pokemon, and she would NOT hesitate to bring out her entire team and ask what are they feeling 😭 it's easy to answer if jaide likes him, but does n like her? it probably will take time for him because she's... a bit too energetic for his liking but he does appreciate how she finds his ability to read emotions - a unique and beautiful thing - she's a nice person in his book! just... gotta adjust to her overwhelming energy 😭

Gen VI, Complete!

You read that correctly, we've made it through PokeFrance (Official term for Kalos, honest!) and have compiled the data!

With that said, let us begin the usual look at this generations...

Sultans of Smash!

(Which is just my fancy way of saying they got more "Smash" than "Pass" votes)

So come with me on this fabulous journey in smashing! Our Smashables are (under the Read More because, you know, this gonna take a while):

1. So for this generation, we do have three starters on the list! But, sadly, Chesnaught couldn't make it. So for our first starter, we instead have our second middle evolution, Braixen! Suppose it's not hard to see why, everyone loves magical girls and Braixen certainly counts! Counts enough to get a 66.4% Smash rating, which is pretty good says I.

2. But far surpassing Braixen is the greatest of Pokemon fire mages, Delphox! And when I say surpass, I mean really surpasses! Delphox has the honor of being the first Starter Pokemon to make it into the Gods of Smash, with a mighty 80.9% Smash rating! There's no stopping the magic of this witch! ...Side note, I think I will be naming my next Delphox "Browser", because she's a Firefox. (Ba-Dum-Tss)

3. Similar to the samurai, ninja have long been one of the more interesting mainstays of Japanese pop culture (especially abroad), and are almost always popular. So it's understandable that Pokemon's own ninja, Greninja, would have their fair share of friends and admirers! And with a smash rating of 72.5% in Standard Form, god damn what fans they have! The Ash-Greninja form, while not quite as popular Standard Form, also makes it in with a 52% Smash rating! Looks like not even a ninja of this calibur can hide how smashable they are.

4. This next Pokemon has a pretty accurate name. Florges, a combination of "Flower" and Gorgeous", certainly describes them pretty well if you ask me! And judging by that solid 67.8% Smash rating she's earned herself, I'd say many of y'all agree!

5. Everyone knows the "Jerk with a Heart of Gold" character archetype, and the closely related "Bruiser with a Soft Center". And it cannot be understated that these character archetypes are super popular. So of course, combining them into a single Pokemon and making that Pokemon a panda? Instant recipe for success, I'm sure! And said Pokemon exists in the form of Pangoro! Are they loved? I dunno, let's ask that 67.9% Smash rating of theirs. ...Survey says yes.

6. Many of us love cats, but often wish it was easier to understand them (or at the very least make ourselves understood to them). Fortunately for the Pokemon universe, they do have cats that can understand us and be more easily understood in the form of the psychic Meowstic! Coming in at 68.1% Smashable for Female Meowstic and 59.3% Smashable for Male Meowstic, it seems some of y'all really appreciate these cats! ...Now if only Female Meowstic didn't tend to fall into the French/Kalosian stereotype of being kind of a jerk (according to the Pokedex, anyways)

7. If there's two things I've seen a number of tumblr users like, it's tentacles and hypno stuff. So with that in mind, Malamar having both makes it very unsurprising they've gained entry to the Sultans of Smash! That said, at a 51.7% Smash rating, I have to admit I expected larger numbers. But anyways... Wait wha- ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOSQUID.

8. It's a tale as old as time, people look at the Tyrannosaurus Rex as a kid and think "That's them, that's the coolest fucking dinosaur ever!" While some move on or get different favorite dinosaurs, for some that passion never fades. And that passion for the majestic t.Rex, it seems, translates itself onto Tyrantrum! And at 53% Smashability, seems this king will have no reason to go on a tantrum. (Thank god, I don't think we could handle the repair bills to the property if they did...)

9. The Aurora Borealis has fascinated humans since they've first been able to observe that wondrous display of light. Thankfully for those of us who don't live in polar regions, the color-changing sails of Aurorus can help capture the beauty of such a natural phenomenon! Certainly, many of you have expressed a desire to admire this Pokemon up close and personal, if that 65.9% smash rating is any indication! Though really, the ice crystals and geometric patterns on their scales also do a lot for the appeal of this cool customer.

10. Attention everyone, it is once again Real Eeveelution Hours! And for this list's Eeveelution, we have everyone's favorite walking trans flag, Sylveon! With their extendable ribbons, piercing blue eyes, and 69.3% Smash rating, it seems Sylveon continues the time-honored Eeveelution tradition of being absolutely smashable!

11. Hear me out here, what if snails and slugs were also... Dragons? If your answer to learning this was "Oh fuck yeah that sounds awesome!", then I have Good News! This Snail/Slug Dragon I proposed is a thing in the form of Goodra, with Kalosian Goodra being more slug-like and Hisuian Goodra being more snail-like! However people like them though, considering Kalosian Goodra has a 71.4% Smash rating and Hisuian Goodra has a 61.6% rating, it's clear people do like these dragons quite a bit.

12. It may not be Halloween, but for many of us there's always time for Jack-o'-Lanterns! And with Gourgeist, the next Pokemon on our list, you can have a jack-o'-lantern that can also be smashed, something a number of you want if that 50.4% Smash rating is any indication!

13. And next up on the list, we have a noisy one! Ever wondered what would happen if bats could be loud enough to shatter anything by yelling at it? Well, if Noivern and their 68% Smash rating is any indication, the answer is "People would want to smash it!" Though really, looking at them, I can safely say you'd have to be blind as a bat to not see the appeal. Sorry, the pun had to be made.

14. I'm gonna be honest, I tried thinking long and hard on how to be crafty with my statement regarding this next one, but I just can't do it. I'd need more than one lifetime to make something fitting enough for this majestic deer! Fortunately, Xerneas can give one all the time in the world they need to think of stuff! And judging by that 66.5% Smash rating, I think a few of y'all have a few ideas on what to do with all the time Xerneas' immortality will give you...

15. But where there's life, there must, sadly, be death. Fortunately, death is this case is the very cool looking Yveltal, who has achieved an impressive 63.5% Smash rating! Seems that for some of y'all, "Death comes for you" has a different meaning...

16. Balance is an important part of any ecosystem. Too much death and you have no ecosystem, but too much life and you risk one particular part of that ecosystem overwhelming the rest. Fortunately, to prevent this from happening, Zygarde is here! And judging by how 50% Forme has a 52.3% Smash rating and Complete Forme has a 61.2% Smash rating, I'd say a number of you wish to show Zygarde your appreciation.

17. Diamonds are great. They're shiny, they're stupidly hard to damage, and they can come in a variety of colors! And that's just in our universe, the Pokemon universe is lucky and has Diancie, a living diamond Pokemon! And if Standard Form's 56.1% Rating and Mega Diancie's 65.3% rating is any indication, Diancie also adds "Very smashable" to the list of good diamond traits!

18. And for the finale, I present to you... Another Pokemon who only had an alternate form get in? Yep! It's Hoopa, the genie in a bottle Pokemon! Specifically, it's Hoopa Unbound, who makes it in with a 55.6% Smash rating! And with his rings, they'll show you the wo- Eh? What? Copyright law?! Damn it! Ok my lawers just advised me to not finish that joke, so sadly I can't leave y'all on the Aladdin reference. But I can say that considering Hoopa has a history of stealing treasure with their rings, I'm beginning to suspect some of y'all have a thing for Pokemon with criminal tendencies...

And thus is the Gen VI Who's Who of Smashing concluded, bringing us up to 136 Sultans of Smash! Well then let's see what's next... Gen VII? Oh man, we've got some choice Sultans of Smash incoming...!

I have received a vision while catching all the starters in the new Pokemon dlc and so it must be shared. It's time forrrrrr.....

WHICH POKEMON STARTERS EACH OF THE BALDURS GATE 3 CHARACTERS WOULD HAVE

I am basing this off the final evolutions of each starter, for example infernape instead of chimchar

1. Wyll: I believe in my heart of hearts this man would be best fucking friends with an empoleon. Not only would empoleons steal and water typing make it very effective as a shield for the week, especially against demons, but empoleons personality generally is very proud and upstanding. Like Wyll, it is proud but not prideful, not full of arrogance or superiority, but the pride of responsibility and leadership. I feel like they both represent something more than they are.

Also I think both Wyll and Empoleon are extremely cool and swag. Thats just me tho

2. Lae'zel: I think Lae'zel would love a Feraligatr, and not because of any fucking jokes about what githyanki look like! I think she would deeply appreciate the ferocity and power that feraligatr has, with its incredible bite force and powerful legs. there isn't a lot in the pokedex about its personality, but I like to imagine it as a creature with a lot of loyalty, it sticks to those it has grown close to and will fight by their side until the bitter end. I think they would "spar" (read: play fight) often, with Lae'zel trying to give it more formal training, especially since totodile is known for having little control of its incredible jaw strength. I don;t think she would like that uncontrolled strength.

3. Karlach: Karlach is the genesis of this stupid idea. I caught a tepig and thought, 'man, karlach would love an emboar' and I am fucking correct. Karlach obviously needed a fire type, and nothing suits her more perfectly than one of the Fire/Fighting types. Emboar not only fits her personality, but also her fighting stye, with its Black and white 2 pokedex entry saying "A flaring beard of fire is proof that it is fired up. It is adept at using many different moves." literally perfect for 'set my engine on fire and i am a master of killing diffderent varieties of demon' karlach. Not only that, but its original pokemon black entry has the line "It cares deeply about its friends." Emboar is Karlach the pokemon.

4: Gale: This man needs a Delphox in his life fucking immedietly for a multitude of reasons. First of all, psychic types are genrally supposed to be smarter than your average person, so hopefully another companion like tara who would be able to keep with his smart ass. Speaking of his intelligence, we all know, despite this man's vast fucking intellect, he does not have the best foresight, making decisions that seem good in the short term, but not so great long term. Delphox can fix that! According to its X entry, it can literally see the future! let this man know if fucking with strange magic will go well or not. Also, its hidden ability is magician and its basically a witch. All in all, solid companion for Gale/

5. Shadowheart: This one was a bit harder, but if we are talking about early game, still devoted to shar shadowheart, its got to be incineroar because it dont think any other starter matches incin for sheer drama value. Its literally and on fire cat that is also a pro wrestler. Also the secondary dark typing and edginess fits. If we are talking late game, Selunite shadowheart, Meganium. Maganium's whole bit is renewal and healing, giving life where it was previously taken away. The only starter that could be better at healing is primarina and that doesn't fit shadowheart as well as meganium does. I think the whole evolution line fits shadowheart pretty well as well. Starting with Chicorita, a barely sprouting flower, through Bayleef, where you can finally see the beginnings of the vibrant flower that is Meganium. I think that is somewhat mirrored in shadowhearts process of growing into herself throughout the acts, as she finds who she is without shar.

6. Astarion: I think this one was the hardest for me, but I think it has to go to Decidueye. A ghost type archer whose signiture move is about taking control the battlefield by locking their opponents down? seems to fit with Astarion pretty well. The dex entry holds pretty true as well, stating that "Although (Decidueye is) basically cool and cautious, when it’s caught by surprise, it’s seized by panic." I am unsure if Decidueye is the perfect fit for astarion but the only other one I could imagine him with is greninja, but i dont think it fits as well as decidueye.

Anyway! thats the main six. I might do additional ones later. The Shadowheart and Astarion ones are definitely the weakest, but I think they are still pretty good
