I think I read somewhere in your blog that you take suggestions. I imagine it is a lot of work to make this even happens, but I do have a suggestion. I know some categories are separated by ship and that’s really good, which brings me to my point: complete separation between ships for all categories. Some corners have more active participants than others, and in those categories where you get different ships in the options, it can get a bit [how to put it…] messy because the ship with more active participants will definitely get votes (and sometimes, not always, of course, there’s those that vote X ship to make sure Y doesn’t win).

Thank you so much for such a kind ask! We appreciate the thoughtfulness! So, this has been a suggestion/question/ask practically since FC's inception. People want to see their ships represented and acknowledge those creators just as much as the larger ships that often overshadow those smaller circles. That's completely understandable and totally fair!

However, breaking down each category into different ships is near impossible right now. In order to be able to host that, we would need far more participation than we currently have. Otherwise, for example, we would have 3 fics competing for Best Action/Adventure InuKag Fanfic versus 1 fic competing for Best Action/Adventure MirSan Fanfic. Can you see where that issue lies? We're not sure if we would ever be able to reach participation levels to give us the ability to do that. However, we also realize the community's desire to have ships represented fairly. So the mod-team has come up with an idea that may be able to give the community just that. On a trial basis, we could host a miniature term, separate from the 3 terms we are currently hosting per year. This term would be exclusively for those who want to indulge in shipping works. Here's a break down of how this would work:

This term would be shorter, with only 1 week for nominations, 2 weeks to enjoy the works, and 1 week for voting. This will help the mod-team garner how much interest/participation it receives, as well as help from overloading the mod-team with the tasks that come with hosting a full term.

All of the same FC rules would still apply that are currently in place. The exception is that we would lift the Winner Ban, so those works would be eligible just for this "Shipping Term". That rule is subject to change pending feedback and interest.

The categories would be simple: The Best of InuKag Fanfiction, The Best of KogKag Fanart, The Best of InuParents Fanfiction, etc. Ships can be added or changed pending on the interest check form.

We would have categories for both fanfiction and fanart to match up with shipping.

If this is not received well, then the mods will simply go back to the drawing board, as well as continue to take suggestions. If there is enough interest, then we will move forward with attempting this Shipping Term as a one-time thing with a date TBD. Depending on how it goes, it could become a more permanent occurrence in the future.

FeudalConnection was created for the community, and we want to abide by what the community wants as much as we can. We hope this will help in that endeavor.

1. The Basics:

The Muggle World:

World War I (28 July 1914 – 11 November 1918), often abbreviated as WWI, was one of the deadliest global conflicts in history. It was fought between two coalitions, the Allies and the Central Powers. Fighting took place throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Pacific, and parts of Asia.

The Allies, or the Entente Powers, were an international military coalition of countries led by France, the United Kingdom, Russia, the United States, Italy, and Japan against the Central Powers or Central Empires of Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, and Bulgaria. [X]

The Wizarding World:

During the war, British Minister for Magic Archer Evermonde was responsible for passing emergency legislation forbidding wizards and witches from getting involved, in an attempt to prevent mass breaches of the International Statue of Secrecy. This did not prevent thousands of wizards from discreetly aiding Muggles wherever they could. Minister Evermonde's position drew the public condemnation of Wizengamot member Henry Potter, which caused a minor stir at the time. Henry's outspoken pro-Muggle views were one of the chief reasons for the Potter family's exclusion from the Sacred Twenty-Eight. [X]

2. The Wizarding War Effort:

Most witches and wizards were not directly involved with the war, though their lives were certainly affected by it to varying degrees. While the Ministry passed legislation to forbid wizards from participating in the war, it did not neglect it completely. In addition to the witches and wizards who aided muggles illegally, there were several different programs started by the ministry, such as the Owl Air Force*, Intelligence operations by the Auror Department, and Magizoologist operations (Like Newt Scamander and the Ukrainian Iron Bellies at the Eastern Front).

(*The Owl Air Force might have been an illegal operation but we've chosen to make it part of the Ministry. Canon isn't clear on which it was.)

The Auror Department:

This is part of WW1 verse, and not mentioned in canon.

Volunteer aurors were trained to join muggle armies to make sure there was no illegal usage of magic among the ranks. They were also tasked with gathering intelligence, tracking down dark wizards (and other dissenters), and even infiltrating and spying on the Central Powers.

3. Wizarding Politics in the 1910s

People of Note:

British Minister for Magic: Archer Evermonde, in office 1912-1923

Evermonde took office in 1912, after the mysterious passing of his predecessor Venusia Crickerly. Some certainly suspected foul play, but nevertheless Evermonde enjoyed the trust of the population enough that he managed to push through several legislations, including the ban of wizarding involvement in the First World War.

Head of The British Auror Department: Willard Hartford (WW1 verse canon)

The Hartofrd family had established itself as a family of aurors a couple of generations ago, so it was only natural for Willard to pursue the career. He became Head Auror in 1911. He is the boss of Ares Gaunt and Lunas Avery, among others.

The Supreme Mugwump: Gala De Lange (WW1 verse canon)

Gala served as the Dutch Minister for Magic before becoming the Supreme Mugwump. She is known for her neutrality and insistence upon the non-involvement of wizards in the muggle conlifct.

Head of The German Auror Department: Anton Vogel (WW1 verse canon)

During the war Vogel served as the head of the German auror department. He later became the German Minister for Magic and the Supreme Mugwump. He is the father of Alexej Kavinsky. Vogel's motivations are shrouded in mystery and eventually he becomes involved in the plans of the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald.

The General Political Climate: (WW1 verse canon)

Across Europe, many witches and wizards were not happy with the war and saw that it was the muggles who were to blame for such chaos and violence. There was a rise in blood-purist ideology, as well as isolationism and anti-muggle sentiment.

Minister Evermonde wanted to keep out of the war as much as possible, and this, if anything, was a reflection of many of his other policies too. He did not wish to effect change, instead he was a traditionalist who was comfortable keeping up the status quo. While he was not overtly blood-purist, he did not do anything to speak for muggleborns, squibs, or any of the groups classified as "creatures".

Mistreatment of minorities & Blood-purism:

As we see the Ministry still being a cesspool of bigotry and corruption in Harry's time in the 1990s, it can be safely assumed that things were not better during the beginning of the century. The radical organization TOWER fuelled the vitriol towards muggles and muggleborns, creating a scapegoat for all the frustration and anger.

The Transnational Order of Wizards' Exposure Right is an anti-muggle organization dedicated to toppling the British Ministry of Magic but it operates across all of Europe. They use any means necessary to advance their goals and their existance is known only to few. Their power lies within their secrecy.

this may be an odd psa coming from a rpc help blog but

i highly, highly encourage you to not rely on rph blog’s list of banned fcs

i want to keep this short, but just to illustrate how flawed these lists are i’m going to share how surprised i was to find the name of a celebrity i have personally followed for almost 10 years, completely unrelated to tumblr or the rpc, on one of these lists with a long list of ‘offenses’ including racism, colorism, antiblackness, the whole nine yards. when i checked the ‘source’ it was a blog that had a considerable amount of posts antagonising celebs that ‘rival’ the celeb they stanned, and their proof for all said offenses was the fact this celebrity put on sunscreen at the beach during summer. i am not exaggerating.

ofc this is just one example, and i’m sure there are many names in these lists that may be genuinely ‘problematic’ but just browsing through them you can tell a lot of the names listed are a complete stretch at best, and completely made up at worst.

so here’s your reminder to be cautious of online performative activism, exercise critical thinking with the information you’re given and not take rph blogs’ words as gospel.

july 2016 marks the graduation of claudia madeira and her friends. the group of teenagers was known around the small town of harbor springs for their constant loud celebrations, rebellious ideas and even more, for having dreams that became too big for the city limits. it was a known fact, by their parents and anyone who could hear them daydreaming at the coffee shop, that they would leave town eventually. or at the very least, they would try to. so when the time came, the night after graduation, they followed their own paths and promised to never forget the memories they created in that small magical town from connecticut.

seven years later, things haven’t been good, for anyone. those who left, somehow ended up sucked back into town; by a relative who became ill, after losing their perfect job one day, after a break up completely broke them down.. the reasons are endless. and, of course, there are always those who never managed to escape, whose dreams were tucked into under their bed and plans stayed as just that, plans.

mrs. dolevan said it best, the town shifted the day the last one of them stepped foot into town. something was in the air, things weren’t working as well as they once did anymore. the town had grown old, there was no big group of teenagers running around and celebrating the life they were about to have. most kids had ended up finishing high school in the neighboring town, which made their parents move down there eventually. harbor springs was now a ghost town. with only the memories and echoes, family they left behind and childhood rooms that still held pictures of people they haven’t seen in years.

and claudia, of course. holding the promise she made to never leave harbor springs, and hiding the truth of her autoimmune disease from her best friends as they toasted to the last night together. she held the fort and kept their memory alive. and then, she saw each and every single one of them crawl back into town.

the doctors said it was bound to happen any day, the gossipers said she couldn’t handle another day of living with the fact they had all failed.

summary: a skeleton discord group verse based on the life of teenagers that were born in a very small town called harbor springs and grew up close experiencing traumatic things together but promised to get out of town (or at least try) once they graduated high school. seven years later, they’re all back to town for different reasons and one week after the last one of them arrives, claudia madeira, class president and their valedictorian, passes away from unknown reasons, causing them all to sit in a room together for her funeral. check out the pinterest board.

1. your usual rp etiquette: no god modding, try to interact and plot with everyone. please, no ooc drama and if there’s any issues contact me or leesh privately so we can handle it directly.

2. muns and fcs must be over 21, the age range for muses is 25-27. no problematic fcs, the usual banned: no dead fcs, minors, people who have stated before they don’t want to be used in rps, all that jazz. i also reserve the right to deny any fc that makes me or anyone else uncomfortable.

3. please don’t join if you’re not planning on being active. i understand school, college, work and all that can get in the way and that this is only a hobby but in order for a group to work people must be present at least once or twice in the day or a few hours a week.

4. this won’t be first come first serve, each mun can apply for ONE MUSE. i know there’s no way i can know for sure so this is basically based on trust and a suggestion but i’d love if we could bring new/undeveloped muses to the verse. the plot is heavy on development and in character building to i feel muses that haven’t been completely fleshed yet would benefit more from this setting.

m/c comes from a very closeted society, and came out to themselves a while ago, but leaves to go to college outside of where he was born so he can express himself. ends up joining a frat and they're all pretty nice, but he's not sure how they're all gonna take it. and so your character can be a few things: y/c is a little in the closet too, maybe they harass m/c, maybe their friendship is toxic, turns into a toxic relationship, maybe a closeted unhealthy relationship. unhealthy forcing themselves on the other when they confess, being ashamed but doing it anyway ?? y/c can be his frat mate, someone that kind of spends a lot of time around him and was apart of their hazing ( which is pretty tame, ) and they get along. maybe they get a crush on m/c and try slowly coming onto him at parties. y/c is on m/c's hockey team, and m/c isn't the best at it at first, and wonders why m/c is on the team. they argue quite a bit before each of them realize they like the other. m/c is very in the closet and avoids y/c a lot until it bubbles over and gets really tense. maybe a drunk confession, maybe a angry fight confession ?? i'm also TOTALLY okay with any other ideas you have other than that, for how they could know each other, or who y/c can be, premade oc's are totally okay !!

iii.i personally don't have any triggers ; when it comes to writing i stay pretty opened minded. with this being said, i do write some darker themes that others might not approve of, or might trigger others. i will tag everything properly when those types of writing arises. however, please do not shame me for what i write ; that will be an immediate block. i do not write smut, nothing against those who do, i personally just SUCK at it, i am god awful with detail and better with dialogue so smutting is not for me, i will be fading to black.

Welcome everyone to my page! I am a mostly mutuals only blog, but if you see an open in the tags you’re more than welcome to answer it even if we don’t follow each other! I play both female and male characters (there is an obvious lean towards females) and while I’m not here to say you have to double up with one of my girls to get my guys, just know those threads might come a bit slower at times. I don’t try to drop threads without at least making some sort of PSA post about it though, so keep an eye out for them if I don't come directly to you with it!

When it comes to pairings, all of my men are straight and a majority of my ladies are bisexual! Leading the bulk of my threads to lean either towards m/f or f/f, but at the time of updating this (7/23/2023) I will not be including m/m content on my blog in a sexual sense. I have nothing against it, but I will not write it I am sorry 🖤 When writing a starter though, I will always include the preferences at the top so there is no confusion.

All standard rules apply here, don't be a dick and we should get along fine. Discord is more likely to be given out to people whom I have plotted with a little bit at least on here already, I just have to know it’s not gonna flop and go nowhere within a day or two. Ya’ll are fucking wild here. no wonder why this rp has just been the same 5 people for the last 4 years. But I thought maybe things are different, maybe it’s changed. Wrong. Admin, you still make rules to cater to the admin or the “inner” 3 other members they’ve deemed “worthy”. You make rules that cater to pretty much you only. You dont care about how you make other people feel, as long as you're getting your way. And the members here have been so brainwashed by the bullshit either theyre too scared or too intimidated to say anything. You still find a way to corrupt people from playing certain fc’s you have history with STILL forcing history on certain fc’s. A history ONE player expects you to remember every detail to even if you don’t like the plot. That one player who makes SO MANY people uncomfortable, whether they want to admit it or not, who also just happens to be the main admin. The main admin who doesnt even do a god damn thing on the main, and then will make every excuse as to why not. Sarah, you’ve found so many ways to provoke, gaslight, bully, guilt or force threads, histories, plots on probably every single player here. It’s gross. You deserve every call out youve gotten. But I don’t even 100% blame you. I also blame most of the spineless people you claim to be your “friends”. Here they complain and shit talk behind your back but then turn around and lick the ground you walked on. But probably because you’ve bullied them into it. I love how you post this long ass thing from the main saying how this place isn't for everyone and if youre bothered, blah blah. Just say this place is for you to do whatever tf you want whenever you want, and be done with it. At least be honest. How many times did you ask if you should drop certain chars looking for pity and how many people begged you to stay, Sarah? No one. That's telling. But its good to know this group is only here for you and your bullshit. I will say i do feel bad for some of the quality players in this group. I just dont know why you put up with it when there are groups out there where you dont have to be foeced into ships or plots just bc youve known someone for so long. Where you dont have to NOT come on the dash bc a player/character is being redundant and miserable 24/7. You dont have to sit here and keep letting sarah and this group take advantage of you. i’m not sure if you remember me, but i certainly remember all of you. i know it’s years ago now, but you used to spend every winter break here. some of you learned to ski before you even learned to walk, others were always throwing snowballs at my window while i was in the lodge’s office — you were a troublemaking bunch, to say the least.

speaking of troubling, i bet you’re wondering why i’m writing this letter. i’ve recently gotten news that a company has bought all of your families’ chalets, with plans to demolish them and turn them into a ski resort here on aspen highlands mountain. some of you may already know this, but it may come as a shock to those of you that didn’t.

i know it’s been ten years since you were all last here, but i recall that aspen highlands is full of so many memories for each of you. i would hate to watch the chalets you frequented every winter simply get torn down without inviting you all back here one last time.

what do you say? one last winter season spent at each of your families’ chalets? it’ll be just like old times, you’ll all have the chance to reconnect, and i’ll get to see how you kids have all grown up. your chalets are here waiting for you, just say the word.

PLOT: from business deals and money making, a friendship was born. and when new york city became too much and they needed a day off, aspen highlands was the perfect getaway vacation to take your family on. for fifteen winters, the friends would reunite after christmas and spend some time together within the quiet and private walls of their chalets. while the kids would be out playing together, bothering the staff and getting high on hot chocolate, the adults occupied the bar and the sauna for nights and days. there’s no way of knowing how many multi million dollar deals were sealed and signed behind those doors, but there’s one everyone hears about.

on march 11, 2013 the cover of new york times carried those friend’s names for the worst possible reason. a scandal that costed which of them millions, bringing some to a complete bankruptcy and giving others a few sleepless nights to burden. to this day no one knows who leaked information, who was to blame for the missing documents and after none of them agreed to say a word, the story died down after a few months. silence following their story now, the winters spent on those lodges never spoken about and the chalets left to gather dust.

the kids that were once attached to bone saw themselves moving schools, houses and some even states to make sure the group was no longer a unit. life carried on, the memories from the lodge were now whispered instead of told happily on the dinner table, most thought they would never set foot on those grounds again. until now.

TL;DR: rich kids whose parents were attached to the bones and would always take them to aspen during the winter, they’ve grown together and after fifteen years, there was an issue with a business deal they were all involved in and the friends drifted apart completely. swearing to never speak again, they made sure to separate their children as well, or at least try. ten years after their last winter on those chalets a secret company has managed to buy all their chalets and is turning them into a ski resort. the manager that watched over the chalets has sent out a letter inviting the group for one last winter before it all goes to dust.

GUIDELINES

1. your usual rp etiquette: no god modding, try to interact and plot with everyone. please, no ooc drama and if there’s any issues contact me or leesh privately so we can handle it directly.

2. muns and fcs must be over 21, the age range for muses is 24-27.. no problematic fcs, the usual banned: no dead fcs, minors, people who have stated before they don’t want to be used in rps, all that jazz. i also reserve the right to deny any fc that makes me or anyone else uncomfortable.

3. please don’t join if you’re not planning on being active. i understand school, college, work and all that can get in the way and that this is only a hobby but in order for a group to work people must be present at least once or twice in the day or a few hours a week.

hi !! i’m not the original anon but in the tags of your recent post you explained reddit & discord have v different rp cultures, would you mind explaining ? i’ve been considering switching over and wanted to know what i was getting into LMAO ! only if you have time ofc , thank u !!

so i am definitely not the ultimate authority on this by any means, because i haven’t rped in any non-tumblr-adjacent spaces myself in quite some time, but i can make a few comments based on my observations as an outsider and also some conversations with a friend of mine who does rp in those spaces! in short i think outside tumblr, groups tend to be a lot more… open? like there are a lot of little things that tumblr rpers tend to put a lot of emphasis and weight on that just aren’t a big deal to people on other sites, which absolutely comes with both pros and cons. the main thing that comes to mind as an example of this is with faceclaims, a lot of off-tumblr groups don’t really do banned fcs or might not be as strict with respecting fcs’ identities, so if that’s something that’s important to you, definitely keep it in mind going in. depending on the group, a lot of people tend to also be a bit more open with the subject matter they are and aren’t willing to write. overall i think tumblr-adjacent rps just tend to have a lot of unspoken rules and things that we’ve kind of all gotten used to by being in this space that just aren’t present in other rpcs. not sure if that made any sense, but i think the most important thing if you do decide to try branching out is to go into things with an open mind! you should of course do your due diligence vetting any group you’re considering joining to make sure it’ll be a good fit for you, and don’t be afraid to leave if it isn’t, but i think just going into the server being willing to learn through observation and maybe unlearn some of the stricter conventions that are basically ubiquitous in tumblr-ish rp spaces will be a big first step.

another thing i’ve noticed especially with groups that advertise on disboard is that they can get REALLY big! of course that depends on a whole lot of factors, but if you’re like me and get overwhelmed by big groups it’s another thing to look out for when you’re vetting a group!

again want to reiterate that i’m not speaking from firsthand experience so take this all with a grain of salt, and remember that no matter what site it’s on every group really will have its own unique culture and quirks. best of luck if you do decide to take that leap, and we’d love to hear how it goes <3

also just want to make a quick little note about what i mean by tumblr-adjacent rps: basically rps that advertise on tumblr regardless of what site the actual rping takes place on (so includes discord, twt, and jcink rps) and/or are made by people who originated from tumblr rp and still mostly run in those circles. since findrps was started on tumblr by tumblr rpers and still very much follows tumblr rp culture despite their growth, you’ll find almost all of the groups that advertise there will fall into this category, even if they might not necessarily have a tumblr main or anything.
