be proud of your original characters. it's no easy task to create a character from scratch, to make them believable and real and human. it takes time. it takes dedication. so what if they aren't perfect right away? so what if there are still things you're only now figuring out after time? characters evolve, they go through changes and arcs and stories just like real people do. and it's okay if your character develops over time, you don't need to have it all figured out right away. there are some things that will only ever clear up after writing them for a while, finding their voice, and seeing the way they interact with other characters. but this is your character, your creation, and you deserve to feel proud about it no matter what.

► reblog to let your mutuals know that... YOUR RP BLOG IS NOT TIME-SENSITIVE!
...That there is NO time limit or expiration date on asks, memes or threads.
...That your partners NEVER need to feel they have to apologise for not responding to a thread or ask yet.
...That you welcome replies to "OLD" threads and memes, even if they've been sitting quietly untouched for weeks or months.
...That there is NEVER any pressure or obligation for your partners to reply until they feel the drive and enthusiasm to do so.
...That YOU will happily respond to things at YOUR OWN leisure, and you would like your partners to feel comfortable doing the same.
Not everybody enjoys running their blog this way and that's a-okay. But removing the idea that RP interactions are something that can "expire" or that the asks in your inbox have an unspoken "due-date", takes the pressure off of both your partners and yourself and can help bust feelings of stress/anxiety from the hobby. Reblog to let your partners know that you're just jazzed to receive new writing from them, whenever it comes.

please don't mistake silence for hatred. please don't mistake unanswered plotting messages as indifference, or a lack of enthusiasm towards you. considering the ages of most roleplayers, many of us have bills to pay, families to take care of, medical conditions to treat, appointments to make, classes to take, homes to clean, and lives to live away from the computer that are far, far more important than writing on tumblr — life has a tendency to get in the way of hobbies and fun things like this. be patient with your fellow writers. if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. of course you can set your boundaries, keep your space comfortable, and softblock whoever you wish, but do so while recognizing it's probably not hatred or apathy that keeps them from leaping into your dms with message after message. they probably love this hobby just as much as you... but sometimes life gets in the way.

PSA: This RP Blog is firmly Anti-AI.
There's been somebody (or some people) using anonymous messages going around certain RPC's threatening people that if they don't become less selective and write with them, they'll use their writing to feed an AI so they can write with that instead.
Not only is this weird and blatantly creepy, as people are allowed to be as selective as they please and threatening someone only looks bad on your end. Even outside of the broad debates about AI, AI generated work has no place in the RPC, a collaborative hobby between artists and writers to engage with another human being.
This blog will not engage with people who openly use AI to generate writing, graphics, or whatever the machine coughs out with stolen work. AI's are well documented to scrape different places for data. You are using stolen work. AI generated content, writing especially, goes against what the RPC stands for. End of story.

You are allowed to send antagonizing anons about my muse
(i was gonna put this on my rp blog last night, but i decided to make it a post on here so anyone else who likes antagonistic anons can reblog it as well without borking my notifs)
people are allowed to send anons about what goes on on my blog and the circle of blogs that interact with me, this includes trying to get under my muses skin or tell them the hard truths about what is happening, or even about their fellow friends and enemies!
berate them for putting up with something dumb, point out flaws in someone's story, mention how something they believe is not the truth, do it, have fun!
just be sure that the antagonistic anon you sent is directed at the muse, not the mun, and make sure to read the rules of the blog you wish to send anons to, some antagonizing might be seen as godmodding and will go unanswered or blocked.

ATTENTION ROLEPLAYING/ASKBLOG COMMUNITY
On Mobile, You CANNOT EDIT ASK ANSWERS IN DRAFTS ANYMORE.
Idk why but tumblr just removed the feature to do so. It's horrible but that's what's happening.
So if you don't wanna loose your asks or post them half done- I recommend only answering them when you can do It all in one go because saving them to drafts won't really help you if your a mobile user.
I don't think they're doing it for the desktop users though so if you have one I'd do it in desktop.
Whack.

𝐏𝐒𝐀: 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐃𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐒 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐄𝐒 & “𝐕𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐒”
Tumblr media
Writing with a dangerous muse can be really interesting and exciting, but there are some things to be mindful about to make the experience fun for everyone involved.
When interacting with a dangerous muse, keep in mind that it’s not the other mun’s responsibility to rein their muse in if your muse is constantly being rude. Antagonize a dangerous muse at your own risks! Especially if there was no prior plotting involved, taunting/insulting a dangerous muse can result in your muse getting injured or worse.
Sometimes, a muse is going to be more powerful than yours. It’s more likely to be the case when interacting with a very dangerous muse. It’s ok if your muse doesn’t always have the upper hand, it’s ok if your muse isn’t always the strongest, or the most dangerous. Power imbalances are fun, but they require compromise.
Remember that it’s not always fun for the mun if their dangerous muse only gets used for antagonistic purposes. Yes, of course, if someone is writing a “villain” or a very dangerous muse, they know it will lead to antagonistic threads. But it doesn’t mean they don’t want to explore other themes as well! All muses have nuances.
Don’t forget that muse ≠ mun. Even if someone is writing a muse that has done terrible things, it does not mean that they condone their muse’s actions, or agree with their muses.

you don't own people in the role play community.
you don't own people's characters in the role play community.
you don't have the right to control others.
everyone is entitled to their own takes, their own choices, their own role play partners and you do not get to control who, what or when someone writes. while it's more than okay to have a favorite role play partner or even character, you do not get to own that person ; being possessive over role play partners can actively ruin someone's mental health and/or their social network.
you don't own people in the role play community.

YO HEADS UP FOR MY FELLOW RPERS!!
Tumblr media
TUMBLR CHANGED REBLOGGING FROM THE SOURCE ON DESKTOP, ON THE POST YOU'VE GOT TO CLICK THIS BLANK SPOT ON THE POST HEADER TO ACTUALLY GET TO THE ACTUAL POST FROM THE SOURCE BLOG.
In my opinion this just makes tumblr more inaccessible and frankly it's baffling to me why they would make this change in the first place when the old way was working just fine. @support HEY!! Roll this update back, this isn't benefitting anyone and it's in fact making things harder for the average user!

just a little reminder that we've reached the point in the year where people aren't going to be as active on their blogs, either due to going back to school, work, or just other things going on in their lives. if you've noticed a decrease in your activity or less people being active on your dash, this is most likely the reason. it's okay to be upset about not getting interactions, but please be mindful that others may have other things going on outside of the rpc!

You know what I think?? I think we need to stop apologizing for not being so active on here constantly — especially in the RPC. People often forget that roleplaying isn't a job. Roleplaying is a hobby. I know I've been bad about this in the past but ... like ... shit happens. Our health comes first. How are we supposed to be at our best and help people if we're at an all time low?? So if going onto your roleplaying blog to post OOC stuff makes you feel better then so be it. Not only that but we're not obligated to explain every little detail about our everyday lives. So you do you and focus on your health first even if it means taking 5 whole ass months (or years, even) off of roleplaying and Tumblr. Because ... let's be real ... as much as we all love and cherish Tumblr it's also a hellhole and extremely stressful at times.
So repeat after me: ROLEPLAYING IS A HOBBY AND NOT A JOB.

it's okay if you aren't writing right now. it's okay not to be online. it's okay to take breaks. this is a hobby, not a job, and you should spend your time however you want to, not how others may want you to. don't stress yourself over not being around enough; it doesn't matter if you take days, weeks, or even months — it's okay to do things the way it works best for you. and if that means taking longer to reply, then so be it. people are usually far more understanding than we give them credit for.

friendly reminder to start embracing and using the new editor + xkit rewritten.
the reality is tumblr is actively phasing out the legacy editor. we may not like that but it is what it is.
new tumblr accounts don't have access to the legacy editor anymore !!
which means if you use new xkit to cut your posts, that post is now a legacy format post and your partner, who no longer has access to new xkit and needs to use xkit rewritten, won't be able to trim their posts because xkit rewritten requires both posts to be in the new post format.
i know that sounds confusing, but we just have to start using xkit rewritten.

if you have "original characters do not interact" or some form of anti-original character language in your rules... you are weak and will not survive the winter. you're missing out on unbelievably inventive characters created by your deeply passionate peers. you're missing out on so many types of interactions and unique perspectives not found in current mainstream media and the content it produces. there are so many talented people in the rpc with amazing original characters, and you're just writing them off for no reason. what a shame.

Please un-learn guilt-tripping, not only in the RPC, but in online spaces as a whole.
This is a passive behavior that people may not even realize that they're even engaging with. I understand wanting asks, starters, replies, or any engagement with this collaborative hobby. However, a lot of people say things such as;
'I wish more people would interact with me...' 'My (canon muse) isn't as good as other (canon muses) in the rpc...' 'I should just delete... Nobody's writing with me...' '(reblogs open starter again) #some replies would be nice...'
I hate to be blunt, but ask yourself. When was the last time you sent your mutuals some asks, anonymous or not? When was the last time you replied to someone else's open starter? I understand being in a bad funk, but there are better ways to deal with those negative emotions that don't involve guilting your follower-base for not engaging with you constantly. You can't be possessive of your following and expect them to be happy to engage with you. Your writing partners are people, too.
Please stop guilting people, and recognize when you may be doing it when phrasing things in specific ways. Un-learn passive aggressive engagement with your following and partners as a whole. Put yourself out there if you think other people aren't. Be the writing partner that uplifts people, not make them feel 'obligated' to engage with you. Please.

PSA: THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT BLACKLIST TAGGING
About Tumblr's Filtering Options:
Tumblr's tag filtering can only filter out the exact tag as is actually on the post.
Wildcards (*) do not work with tumblr's tag filtering system. As such, blacklisting #*example* to catch as many possible different tags as possible doesn't work. Even if it did, it would also then pose the same false positive issue as content filtering. Exact wording is important!
Correct spelling is necessary for tag filtering to work. Do not censor your tags.
Symbols and fancy copypaste fonts do not usually work in the tag filtering system.
Neither do they tend to work in URLs, meaning your tags might not work for navigation on your own blog.
Tumblr's post content filtering searches for exactly what the user asks to be filtered.
This may lead to false positives if the filtered word is part of another, unrelated word (example: posts about "writers" will be filtered for people who block "rite").
Tumblr's post content filtering is limited to 200 filtered words and/or phrases.
Both systems only support adding filters one at a time, and only to one system at a time. This can be both time-consuming and/or exhausting for some people to do, whereas it takes less time and energy for you to tag in a simplified manner.
for more information: Tag and Post Content Filtering [Tumblr Help Center]
----------
How Many, Many People Wish Content Warnings To Be Tagged:
______ tw
______ cw
______
Nothing more, and nothing less. If your posts even mention a thing, simply tag it as that thing, because each extra word you add to your tags is another tag that has to be filtered.
It is more helpful to have it tagged as the full content itself for filtering, and you state in the body of the post and/or in additional tags that it is only a mention, vaguely referenced, etc. rather than explicit descriptions and/or details.
