[UPDATE - THIS RAFFLE IS OVER] The Beautiful raffle Hey everyone! This is my 2nd raffle benefiting Ukraine. This time around it will be a special tribute to mothers. For some strange reason most mother’s day gifts have a soft, pinkish, fuzzy, candle-y, cursive letter-y, milk chocolate-y feel with a major dash of essential oil diffusers. I could never relate haha AND that’s not the feel I get from most of the mothers I know. The moms I know are fighters, strong, beautiful, sharp, determined and brave. And we need to celebrate ourselves… with an appropriate gift. I bring to you the Beautiful cocktail - strong, balanced, intoxicating - just like the mothers I know. It is a sipping cocktail (not that we have any time for swirling snifters). The Beautiful cocktail has only two ingredients - the equal parts of two spirits: Cognac and Grand Marnier. With the aged golden cognac representing the mind of a mother (wise, creative, sharp, multitasking, problem-solving, prompt, adopting, logical) and the fragrant orange brandy representing mother’s heart (loving, selfless, forgiving, intense, kind and hurting). Together they create a beautiful and balanced experience. I raise a glass to the mothers who when tragedies strike, learn, adopt and keep being mothers.
The prize for this raffle will be the Beautiful cocktail kit (see details below). All of the money that will be raised through this raffle will be sent to my aunt Lyudmyla who lives in Druzhkovka (eastern Ukraine). Though not biologically a mother, Lyudmyla became a mother to many hungry, scared and lonely people in her town and beyond. When I talk to her, she often mentions women who reach out to her asking for help. She mentions single moms with multiple kids who couldn’t leave from Druzhkovka because they don’t have anywhere to go; then there are mothers and wives of the Ukrainian soldiers who can’t sleep and eat because of panic and gripping fear; she also mentioned a woman who lost her husband within last year to covid and who lost both of her kids when the kids were still young. Some mothers need diapers for their babies, some need medications, some - bread, some - human connection. These are very strong women who just got dealt a very bad hand and they need help.
Raffle details:
You don’t have to be a mother to participate.
You don’t have to be a woman to participate.
You don’t have to drink alcohol to participate (if you don’t drink and you win this kit, you can donate it to the mother who needs it asap)
You have to be over 21 to participate.
Each $20 donation acts as a raffle entry.
To enter, you need to send $20 to my venmo account (Oksana Tyulyu) and write “beautiful raffle” in the comment section. (If venmo asks for the last four digits of my number - it’s 0161).
The more “tickets” you buy - your chances of winning increase. So if you send me $40, it means that your name will be entered 2 times.
This raffle will run through Mother’s day Sunday, May 8. The winner will be contacted via venmo app (so please make sure your comments notifications within venmo are enabled). I will mention the winner in my IG story.
The winner will receive:
🔺 Vintage set of 4 brandy snifters with beautiful floral etchings. These 8 oz glasses were made in France. All 4 are in excellent condition with no chips and cracks.
▪️ The beautiful cocktail recipe
🔸 Pierre Ferrand Ambre Cognac - 750 ml - Cognac, France
🔻 Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge Liqueur - 750 ml - Paris, France
PLEASE NOTE: This raffle is open to US residents only. The prize will be sent to the winner by mail. If the winner happens to live in Seattle, I’d be happy to deliver it to you in person.
If you cannot give, please repost to spread the word! Cheers 🤍

Tumblr media
miya atsumu
at first, his marriage was happy. miya atsumu— successful in his 20s, basically set for life, and with a head strong wife that gave him a wonderful daughter
he was elated when his son, genji came into this world. he wouldn’t swap him out for anyone else. and it was all good, really
until he started spotting marks on genji’s delicate skin, and he even found a large bruise on his shoulder when he was changing his shirt! he almost passed away seeing that
genji would also have a sudden fear of being alone in the house— even when his mother would stay behind to take care of him
but why though? genji’s only 4! what could’ve happened to him? he doesn’t recall hiring any babysitters.
he finally found the answer one day, when he found out that his head strong, intense wife— has been physical with him!
basically, all the love for his wife flew out the window, and he filed for a divorce— and of course, he won custody
and he assumed that his love life would stop at that— and it didn’t sound terrible. all that mattered was that his son was safe, and happy again
but this is where you come in
you work at a toy store, a small business toy store really, that sold the highest of quality only
and atsumu took genji to either replace, or fix the toy he broke a few days back. the place was recommended to him by shoyo— who also had a kid of his own
you’re just two years younger than him, eyes full of determination and care, practically the complete opposite of his ex-wife.
you put up a good conversation with him, while you fixed the toy— the two of you talking about the mutual friends, and that ‘this place should be a lot more popular.’
and also, his son did happen to take a liking to you. he seemed joyous in your presence— compared to how he was with his ex-wife
and from that moment on, the two of you would only become closer— especially when a bunch of his son’s toys started breaking magically
before atsumu knew it, he harbored something for you— the absolute angel you were to the both of them
“‘m sorry for the inconvenience,” the faux blond scratches the back of his next “didn’t know genji here was a ‘lil clumsy weasel,”
you laugh, and genji’s just staring at you with amusement, “it’s fine, genji could break his entire toy box— and i’d still fix it anyway.”
so this was the nerve wracking part, “to make up for it, would you like some coffee later? i could treat ‘ya.”
“is this yer way of askin’ Y/N—”
“shut yer mouth for a sec— uhm,” he looks at you, sheepishly
you laugh, “miya, i wouldn’t mind honestly. but i’d assume you’re busy as it is.”
“not at all!” atsumu replies, “i’ll just, drop off genji first. say yer thanks to Y/N,” atsumu looks at genji, encouraging him to say his thanks
“,,thanks for fixing my toys, Y/N.”
“no problem, genji.” you smile at the two of them when they move to leave the store, fixed toys in hand— as they wave at you before parting
“oh, Y/N?” atsumu calls out,
“yeah?”
“call me atsumu— from now on.” his cheeks are tinted pink, and he can feel genji’s eyes on him.
“oh, uhm. yeah! i’ll see you later, atsumu.”
so yeah— the two of you went out for some coffee, and before he even knew it, he was in love.
it might take him a few months to realize it though
Tumblr media
suna rintarou
i can’t imagine him having kids for some reason 💀 but if he were to have any, he’d definitely have a daughter
rintarou himself, didn’t think he would have kids at at all, really. but the moment he was able to meet asuka— his lovely little daughter
he was hooked. he seemed a little awkward at first, not very used to caring for a child. but he was actually decent at his job
he’d sneak into his daughter’s room to hold her when she was upset— even when his wife was too knocked out to realize it, and he’d show her picture books
since she liked them a lot, even when she can’t coherently read a straight paragraph yet.
it started to concern him when he realized how little his wife was involved in the development of their daughter.
she started acting different, a little bit after she didn’t have to breastfeed asuka
and then, that’s when it happened.
“i literally can’t believe you,” he speaks when he’s packing his things, “we have a child together.”
his soon to be ex wife is on the floor, begging him to stay— but he doesn’t care. “look, the idea of you cheating wasn’t very surprising. i don’t care anymore, really. but the fact that you’ve been neglecting asuka for your selfish needs is low. i hope you’re ashamed of yourself.”
his words are so much different that his lenient, calm self. which only solidifies reality
so he leaves with asuka, not caring about the sobs that left his soon to be ex wife’s mouth.
and even though he was still angry at his wife for not being there, he’d never let it show to asuka
he’d still show her picture books, he’d still sit down and watch miraculous ladybug with her— even when she doesn’t understand it all completely
and speaking of picture books— he decided that he needed to buy more for her
so he took her to the bookstore, and he didn’t really know what he was doing. he bought all those previous books when asuka was still a newborn
now it’s a little fuzzy on what he should be looking for. colors, right? he needs a picture book that has plenty of colors.
and that’s where you come in. you’re youthful, despite looking not that far off his age, you’re humming to yourself as you fix the bookshelves
“uhm,” he calls out for your help, and you look at him in recognition “need any help? what are you looking for?”
there’s a helpful glint in your eyes, and it reminded him of what should’ve been in his ex wife’s eyes. “my daughter, likes picture books. and,, i don’t know what i’m doing.”
she’s basically a replica of him, same eye color, and same hair color. but her eyes are much more rounded, youthful.
“cute kid,” you smile when she coos at you, “the children books are this way, follow me!” you exclaim, moving to navigate your way to the children’s book isle
so it seems to be that you really know what you’re doing. most people would’ve recommended picture books with a lot of words, or just no words at all
but you’ve found the books that made asuka exclaim in happiness.
and although it’s not very obvious that rintarou’s caring to his child— he is, and you could tell. despite looking lost, and sometimes bored when you’re explaining the books.
so every 2 weeks, the father would return with his daughter, after he got back from volleyball— and you’d help them pick out on certain books.
rintarou assumed he’d never take a liking in anyone again, but,, here he is. and he doesn’t know how you’ll react to that.
but it’s worth a try— he’d try and get your number when he’d see you again
the next time you see him, the middle blocker’s alone. and he tells you that he needs more picture books for asuka, since she’s staying over at his volleyball friend’s house for a day
“Y/N,”
“yes?” you turn your head, meeting his stare. he looks well,, himself. like how he first sought out for your help a few weeks back
“,, could i get your number? y’know, just in case asuka wanted worded books in the future. you’ve helped a lot, so,,”
you smile, “is this your way of hitting on me?”
he didn’t think it was that obvious, “what?— i mean,” he fumbles to reason out, feeling a bit more awkward. because yes, he’s asking you out but,, he has the power to make things more laxed, y’know?
truthfully, you don’t know much about him. you know a lot about his daughter, sure! but you don’t know anything about her biological mother, or what happened, or why she’s not taking asuka to the bookstore
but you chose not to ask, out of respect. he’d tell you some other day. “i’m just teasing,” you smile, moving to get a small piece of paper— writing your digits on the paper, and placing it in his pocket
“i’d like to see you again,” you smile, “say hi to asuka for me.”
the middle blocker left the store in content, absolutely sure that asuka would love to see you again even when she can’t form proper sentences.
Tumblr media
sakusa kiyoomi
didn’t think he’d be fit to be a father— but here he is
though he seems cold, he does take responsibility, and he does love and care for his child, seina
it’s not like he’ll be posting pictures of his child everywhere— i mean, even if he had a different personality, he still wouldn’t be posting his kid everywhere
but he does cherish seina, like his life depended on it. he’d still silently watch her cross out word puzzles in a messy matter, he’d silently listen to her talk about her favorite pastries
he loves her!
so that’s why it made him mad, when even after 4 years of seina being born, her mother made little to no effort in spending time with her
doesn’t matter if it was a simple gesture like tucking her in, or showing up to a birthday— she just,, never did.
it was almost as if she was ignoring seina, which causes some distraught on the child’s behalf— which passed on the negative feeling to him
like,, seina wasn’t an unbearable kid. sure, she acted up here and there, that’s an issue kiyoomi has been trying to fix on his own
but it was nothing too concerning, and it was containable. but his wife treated her like she was absolutely unbearable
and it was super strange because, she’d act normal around him, but would barely acknowledge her own daughter’s existence
so what did kiyoomi do? he confronted her, of course.
and no— his wife wasn’t cheating, and nothing tragic happened that would’ve caused her to be this way
she was just,, lazy
“so.. you gave birth and stopped caring for her? is that it?” furious was an understatement, considering that his wife forgot to make her daughter breakfast
which caused her to sneak out of the house, and ask for some breakfast from some nice neighbors.
“look, if you want nothing to do with her, just say that. i’m taking seina, and leaving.” so yeah now he’s a single father.
to say he didn’t love her was too quick, a part of him didn’t love the fact that his wife loved him, but didn’t show any sign of affection towards her daughter.
he knew it was going to fade away anyway. his feelings for his unofficial ex wife.
and i don’t think he’d plan on seeing new people, since now these days— people just like the idea of being with him
which meant that most people would’ve been scared away, or turned off if they really sat down in a conversation with him
besides the point, kiyoomi was taking his daughter to the bakery again— as she was craving new pastries, and wanted to go to the new bakery that just opened near by
and kiyoomi was like “why not ig” and took her there— but then, this is where he’d meet you for the first time
you were one of the bakers, and it’s not like he was going to pay attention to you— until you did something even HE couldn’t do
“papa, whyyyy” the whining sounding painful in his ears, as his daughter clung to the display of pastries “can’t we get moreeee??”
“seina,” he sighs, “no, we can’t.”
“but—”
“papa, you’re no fair!” her bottom lip trembles, and he could almost FEEL the judgmental stares of the other customers in the bakery
and this is where you come in, “is something the matter?”
“papa won’t.. get me more!” she stares at the selection of pastries, “i’ve been so nice but.. it’s no fair!” her eyes tear up
“don’t cry,” you bend down to blot her tears away with a tissue, “y’know, he probably has a reason, but you’re in luck— actually!” you maneuver behind the counter
you come out from behind, presenting a fresh batch of pastries— that were just right to his daughter’s liking, to the point that it shut her up entirely
“they’re on the house, today’s our opening day, so it’s the bakery’s treat!”you state in a warming matter, grabbing a paper bag to place the pastries in
kiyoomi stares at you, observing you quietly— you could feel his cold stare, even though he’s wearing a medical face mask, that covers about half of his face
you blink, not knowing what is going through his head, and you gesture to his daughter to take them
you clearly don’t know who he is— and that gives kiyoomi some sort of relief, compared to the other customers that are murmuring to each other “sakusa kiyoomi’s here with his daughter! is this what he does in his free time?”
kiyoomi takes the paper bag, giving some sort of non verbal acknowledgement, before he takes his daughter’s hand and leaves
“bye, kind person!” seina calls out to you, which catches you off guard— this causes your coworkers to coo at the girl’s words
“didn’t know sakusa’s daughter was so cute!”
and you’d assume that your interactions with the quiet stranger and his daughter would end at that, but no! life is full of surprises.
the tall masked father comes in again, a little bit before closing time— you were absolutely beat, your back feeling as if boulders were glued to the back, and your feet burning from all of the rush
“oh, what could i do for you?”
he stays quiet, but a small presence sticks behind him, and peers up to you. the face is familiar to you, so you wave “hi there! it’s nice to see you again.”
“i wanna say thanks.” her rounded eyes practically shimmer when they lay themselves on the pastries again, but she shakes her head “for the pastries! they’re very tasty.”
“i’m glad you like them, what was your favorite part of the pastry?”
“the filling! twas yummy!” she gives a toothy grin, “tell me, where ‘dya learn to bake like that?”
kiyoomi stares at the scene unfolding before him. it was.. new. unfamiliar— he hasn’t seen his daughter act like this with anyone else— besides him and his team mates. so, he simply watched.
seina babbled and babbled, much to the your amusement— and the other staff members. you listened to her with your full attention, your interest never wavering in the slightest
it’s a bit later, kiyoomi holds a tired seina in his arms— you expect him to leave the bakery, his daughter’s wishes been fulfilled, and he wouldn’t have a reason to stick around
but then he presents to you a large stack of cash “for the pastries. my,, daughter really liked them.”
your eyes widen, “sir! i told you, the pastries were on the house!” you shake your head, “either way, i can’t take this! it’s too much for some pastries!”
“no, seina insists. in fact, she’s entirely why i’m here.” his tone stays consistent, but even with the mask— you could tell that he’s smiling. “she’s well,, everything. if she’s set on something, then she’ll do everything to achieve her goal.”
you smile at the statement, “thanks for bringing her here sir..?”
kiyoomi hesitates to tell you his name for a moment, an unfamiliar, yet familiar pound in his chest rises— he chooses to not figure it out right now, considering that it would be too soon to pursue a romantic relationship.
but, if his daughter brought him here, then it must be for a reason. “kiyoomi.”
“right,” you smile, “thanks for coming here, kiyoomi. you can give me a call, if seina wants any more pastries.” you write your number on a piece of paper, and hand it to him
he doesn’t reply, but he does take the piece of paper anyway— keeping it in his pocket
and for once, he thinks that he doesn’t hate having to go to the bakery weekly., because there’ll be a warm presence there to greet him— and of course, seina.

about time ; chapter i ; 80s!john lennon x reader
Tumblr media
request: It’s ur main bitch here. Anything with Johnny I’m 100% here for. a/n: it may be 1 am but i wanna write this out. lmao i changed the request because it wasn’t fluffy enough for the other request. also i did a lil research to see how many rooms John’s flat had but it didn't show up. apparently, Dakota flats can have 4-20 rooms (haha 4 20) but i think 20 is too much so i picked like 11? pairing: john x reader summary: after years of not talking to the guys, The Beatles reunite. chapter summary: after drinking wine from a bottle Paul gifted you John gets sad and you propose inviting them for dinner which turns into invitng Ringo, George and all the kids and wives as well warnings: slight angst but fluffffff year: around Christmas of 1979 word count: 2,120
John was sat on the piano stool, his legs facing the opposite yours were. Your fingers were gliding along the keys emitting a beautiful melody. Sean was fast asleep in his bedroom, Julian out with his friends. The moonlight bounced off the glassy piano’s top, your bottom lip was in between your teeth.  John’s soft voice filled the warm flat, his delicate fingers strummed the guitar, soothing you and helping you successfully finish the song.
This was not a rare occurrence, John would rush up to you, excitement bubbling out of him, and give you an idea he had been working on or that had popped into his mind right there and then. He would strum a couple chords, sit down next to you on the piano and you would catch the idea. Once you did catch the idea you would begin playing a melody that you thought would match whatever he had played with you.
“Beautiful yn, perfect,” he gushed as he leaned over to kiss you once you had finished. Your fingers lifted themselves off the keys and the flat was music-less once more. Your face relaxed and a grin tugged onto your lips, matching the one John proudly wore.
“Thanks, John,” you said, your nerves taking the best of you. Even after all this time together, John still had the same effect on you. Of course, you were comfortable being around him but his thrilling laugh had you stumbling over your words.
“I’ll put a record on and cook something, alright?” you nodded and closed the piano before standing up and tucking the stool under the piano. Your hand grazed over the grand piano's lid. John had gotten it for you for your birthday not long ago and you had cried when you saw it sitting in your new shared flat. It was your dream, ever since you were little kid you’ve always wanted one of these. A black grand piano overlooking New York City. “Open a bottle of wine for me please.”
John did as he promised, he put a record on and the sweet music filled the flat. You followed him into the kitchen and did as he kindly asked you. After pouring the wine into two glasses you jumped up on the counter. You took a sip and stuck your free hand under your thigh. “Year?” asked John as he stirred the liquid inside the glass. You read him the label and he nodded as he worked around the kitchen.
“Paul gave it to us.” you whispered feeling nostalgic at the memory. “You should call him, love.” you slid off the counter and set your glass down. Quietly you walked over to John, your hands slowly made their up his back and landed on his shoulders. You poked your head over his shoulder as you stood on your tippytoes.
“I know.” he admitted his eyes fixated on the food he was making.
“So why don’t ya?” you asked him, your voices still low.
“I dunno yn, it’s still complicated, what if he hates me?” John’s voice cracked towards the end and your heart broke. You spun him around and cupped his face, a tear was stinging his eye. His hands landed on your hips, his grip slightly tight.
“Honey, he does not, you guys were like brothers.” you assure him.
“But that song... damn it yn, it was very mean.” he lowered his head and sniffed. You bit your lower lip and tilted your head to get a good look at him.
“I’ll call him, alright? And invite him and Linda to have dinner.” you offered him. He softly hummed a repsone as you rubbed his sides.
“That sounds great,” he said nodding. Your hand travelled north to his face where you wiped his tear with your thumb. John had grown emotionally a lot since the day you met him. He no longer feared his emotions and was not afraid to cry to you about things that bothered or upset and he also did not hesitate to admit how he was feeling.
“No you get cooking, I’ll call them.” John nodded once more and returned to his cooking. You sighed and walked over to the phone. You pressed on the little numbers and hoped they were home.
“‘Ello, Paul McCartney speaking.” you smiled at his voice, his accent, much like John’s, was intact.
“Paul! It’s yn Lennon here,” you said.
“yn? It’s really you? Oh my, it’s been a really long time. How’s life? How’s New York? I heard the new album, that was you on the piano right?” Paul shot question after question.
“Thank you, Paul, it’s really me and yes it has been a long time, too long. Life’s good, New York is perfect, so beautiful and peaceful not like the Beatlemania day. We can actually walk around now.” Paul laughed at that and agreed. “I heard your new album too, love it. And yes, that's me on the piano.” there was a slight pause and you knew what was coming.
“How’s John?” he asked quietly, you looked up to your husband, he was looking down at the food but obviously listening in.
“John’s great.” when he heard his name he looked up, a hopeful smile on his face. “Listen, I was wondering if you and Linda would like to come over sometime for dinner? If you’re in the states, y’know.” you asked.
“That- that would be great, I really miss you two. We have a tour soon but we can go a day or two earlier to visit you lot. How’s next weekend?”
“Let me ask John, one minute.”
“Wait, he’s there?” Paul asked before you could ask John.
“Yeah he’s here, would you like to talk to him?” John took a step towards you.
“Yes, yes, please. I would love to talk to him.”
“Johnny, it’s for ya.” you extended the phone to him and he rushed to pick it up. Once it was in his hand you went to check on the food to give them so privacy.
“John?” asked Paul.
“Paul.” John answered a smile forming on his face, they both laughed. It was the first time that they had heard each other's voices.
“I miss you man, how’s it been going?”
“It’s been great, listen I wanna say sorry... Sorry about the song, it was very immature and I shouldn’t have done that.” John quickly said.
“John, it’s alright. We were both angry, I’m sorry for anything I might’ve said or, y’know, not said. I should have reached out.” you heard John chuckle and knew he was alright.
“Mum?” you heard your older kid, Julian, ask as he came in through the lift.
“Julian, it’s late, where have you been?”
“Out.”
“Very descriptive, did you have dinner?” you asked while hugging him.
“Yeah, who’s dad talking to?” you looked behind you, John was looking at other way and was leaning against the wall.
“Paul.”
“McCartney?” Julian asked excitedly and you nodded. “Can I talk to him?”
“If you can get your dad off the phone.” you giggled.
Julian did manage to get his dad off the phone but not for long. He only got to say a quick ‘hello, how are you doing?’ before John was tickling him to get the phone back. Julian kissed you both goodnight before disappearing into his room. John and Paul talked while you finished making dinner and only stopped talking so that John could quickly eat.
He practically inhaled his food and rushed to clean the plates (something you insisted you could do but he refused, saying you had made the food and that it was only fair) before calling his old friend again. You suspected they would be talking for a long time so you went to kiss John goodnight and go to your room but John called you.
“Honey wait!”
“What is it?” you asked peering into the kitchen.
“Paul wants to say goodnight.” you nodded and took the phone from John.
“Night yn, thanks for calling me- Wait Linda wants to say something.” you heard some shuffling and then Linda’s voice.
“yn!” you talked to her for a little while, some simple catching up. John would stare at you wanting you to get off but you didn’t even look at him. “Alright- alright Paul I’m getting off! Night yn, wait the kids want to say hi!”
“The kids are asleep!” you heard Paul yell from the background.
“I know, ‘M only teasing.” Linda laughed. “Night.”
“Night Linda, see you soon.” you pulled the phone away from your ear and handed it to John.
Your husband hooked his arm around your hip and pulled you close, he pressed his face against your cheek. “Thank you,” John whispered to you and you knew he didn’t mean thanks for giving him the phone.
“About damn time.” you smiled before going to bed.
John and Paul stayed up the rest of the night talking. At around 3 am, you heard him shuffle into your room and crawl into bed with you. Apparently, Paul had woken up the kids and Linda had told him to ‘get off the damn phone!’. You were very sleepy when he told you this but you still managed to get out a small laugh. He wrapped his arms and legs around you before drifting into sleep with you.
***
The whole week John had been fidgety, he couldn’t wait to see his best friend once more. They called every day whenever had time and John took a break from the studio. He cleaned the house five times and prepared the rooms for Paul’s kids. You had flattened out the details with Linda the next day. They were bringing all the kids and were planning to stay in a hotel near the flat but you insisted they stay over at John’s and your flat.
“Please Linda, John wouldn’t forgive me if he found out you guys were staying at a hotel when we have more than enough space.”
“We just don’t want to bother you,” Linda said as she bit her thumb.
“The only bother would be John nagging me.” you joked convincing her.
John planned the whole weekend as well and a couple days earlier asked you to phone George and Ringo as well. ‘Go big or go home, The Beatles are back!’ he had said when you asked if he was sure. They were both very delighted and were going to come a day after the McCartneys arrived.
“They are all coming with their kids so some will have to sleep in the same room, alright?” John told you one night as he prepared food for the whole family.
“Alright, Dhani’s 1, right?” John nodded and sat in front of you on the kitchen’s table. “So he’ll probably sleep with George and Olivia. Who’s Ringo with? He and Maureen broke up, right?”
“Yeah... Yknow after...” you looked up to him and tried to stifle a giggle. “yn! Not funny.” John tutted before breaking into a fit of giggles.
“It’s a little bit.”
“Fine but don’t mention it.”
“Of course, I would never. Moving on, Geo and Olivia can go in the first room with Dhani, we’ll have to get out Julian’s old crib.”
“What about my old crib?” Julian asked as he emerged into the kitchen. He made a beeline for the kitchen and took out the cold water to pour himself some in a glass.
“George, Ringo and Paul are coming for this weekend,” you said breaking the news to your oldest son.
“Really?” he asked nearly dropping his glass. “Why do you need a crib though?”
“They are coming with their kids,” you said wiggling your eyebrows, Paul and Linda also had a kid Julian’s age, Heather.
“Heather will come,” John said continuing the teasing. Julian turned red and looked away.
“Okay, I don’t care.” he shrugged and walked out of the kitchen leaving you and John laughing once more. Before dinner, you had finished the plan for the bedrooms. Stella and Mary would sleep together and so would Jason and Zach. Lee and Heather would get their own rooms and James, like Dhani, would sleep with his parents.
When you told Sean he was delighted. “I’m going to meet Uncle Paul and Uncle Ringo and Uncle George and their wives?” he asked as he held onto your hand and bounced excitedly.
“Yes, yes you are.” you pushed his hair back and his head fell back, a smile on his face.
“Dinner!” yelled John from the kitchen.
“Why don’t you go tell your brother? And you can both wash your hands,” you asked your son, he nodded and rushed to get his older brother.

J2 VegasCon 2019 Main Panel
*Reminder: Full answers/more context in vids and gifs <3
J2 jump onstage as fans wave pink hearts from the crowd <3
Jensen: Whenever we come out and do one of those jumps, I always wonder if today’s the day one of us blows a hip.
Jensen’s microphone keeps making a high pitched sound lol.
They ask how many first-timers are there. Jensen: Okay, well, I’d like to remind you we’ve been on this show for fourteen years, doing these for thirteen and a half. Where were you???
Jared: We are five days into our final hiatus. Jensen: Five days into our hiatus beard!
Jensen won’t shave for a few months.
J2 whispering and Jensen cracking up :P
Jensen reveals that Jared is wearing a party patch (they help with hangovers). Jared puts his leg on Jensen’s lap and rolls up his pant leg to show the patch lol.
J2 gave the crew party patches at the s14 wrap party.
Fan asks if they believe in the supernatural in real-life. Jensen doesn’t not believe in ghosts. First to think there’s a logical explanation. But he’s certainly open to the availability that that 1% could be supernatural. Even though he’s never experienced it in real life.
Jensen explains the difference between unnatural and supernatural. Unnatural = Jared. Supernatural = us
Norton fixes Jared’s rolled up pants which turns a little dirty, naturally :P
Fan: Which supporting actors have gone on that have had great careers that you’re still close with? The guest star Jared connects with the most is the girl who played Ruby in season 4 ;) Jensen says they knew Sterling K. Brown was a star when he was on spn, that the Force was strong with him. It’s no surprise he’s had the success that he’s had. Also: Well we’re close to Jeffrey Dean Morgan, even though he hasn’t really done much since spn. He’s still cool.
J2 ran into Felicia Day yesterday and talked about her daughter aww
Jared watched “Wendigo” recently, named a couple of guest stars (assuming Alden Ehrenreich was one of them ;))
A fan apparently rushed the stage, emotional/screaming and upset about wanting an autograph. Some fans tweeted that she has autism. Fans tweeted that J2, Clif, and Creation handled the situation well. At one point J2 left the stage to help defuse the situation. When they came back out after Jared shouted out: “Our member of the family is having a hard time. We all have had hard times.” He wants us all to be kind. The boys are completely fine. (Some details)
Fan: So after the show, will you continue to shave? Boys: Up here not down there... lol
Jensen: We were talking about Jared’s Viking braids.
Jensen teased about Jared shaving his head like Borja did yesterday for charity. They said they’d have Misha do it lol.
Answering sincerely, they acknowledge their look will change a bit, to have their own identities. Jensen:  “Dean is the best imaginary friend I’ve ever had in my life. He’ll be a part of me for the rest of my life. But I don’t have to look like him for the rest of my life.”
Also: “It all depends on what our wives want us to look like.” lol
Jared wants to go bowlegged. Asks Jensen how it is, to which he replies “airy.”
Jensen hopes their relationships with cast and crew will last a lifetime and that is what, quote, “fuels us up.”
J2 are signed to do cons past s15 and won’t end for a while :)
What is Jared most looking forward to after the show? Getting to know our kids, our wives, and ourselves. Also not shaving!
Jared: I’m excited to be a dad. Spend more time with the kiddos. Is also excited for the boring.
Jensen’s never known his wife and kids without the show. It’s been a constant. It’s going to be interesting to see where life goes. He’s excited for the opportunity to spend more time with his kids, wife, and friends. To not get on an airplane.
Jensen: I'm looking forward to but have been happy to have professional opportunities go by these past 14 years in order to tell this story.
Has anything impacted you (professionally) like SPN has impacted us? Jared says he isn’t sure. Even when “off” we can’t remove our “wigs” like Borja (lol) We’re still working! Always!
Jensen said he and Misha will need vocal therapy after the show to get their voices back to normal. Jensen: I tried to emulate JDM as Dean’s father by speaking with this gravelly voice. I didn’t know I’d been doing this for 15 seasons. I’m a lot older than he was when he played my dad. Jared: Yeah, no kidding!!
Fan: How do demons deposit sulfur? Jensen: *runs around the stage, making farting noises*
What’s on their bucket lists? And the weirdest thing on there? The fan has an accent that J2 both attempt. Jared says (about the accent): “It’s beautiful and I’m jealous of people who speak better than me, which is everyone.”
We have learned Jared doesn’t have a bucket list. Then he says he would love to go on a helicopter ride. He’s never done it before and it’s the small things. Jensen is unimpressed.
Jared: “What I meant to say was...have a...pet...koala...bear...” Jensen: JUST STOP.
Jensen says, “I want to watch my children grow up.”
Jared says he can watch his children grow up from the helicopter. Jensen quips, “That’s called helicopter parenting.”
Jared shakes the fan’s hand and asks where her accent is from, repeating that it’s beautiful. She says, “Yorkshire.” He goes, “no YOU’RE sure.” LOL
The dad jokes are strong today.
For the final season, this is the first year J2 have said to the writers and producers that they would like to be part of the creative process in the direction and the story of s15. J2 have been invited to the storyboarding with the creators in LA for the final season and definitely want to give their input. They don’t know if they’ll listen, and J2 are prepared for that, but nobody’s lived with Sam and Dean longer than they have. They would love to give input that the show and characters deserve. <3
Jensen: “No one knows these characters more than Jared and I.”
Jared: As a fan of the show, I'd like to offer my input.
Jensen says they watch the episodes in order to give themselves critical feedback. They don’t read comments on social media re: feedback.
It’s hard for them to watch themselves as just an audience. Including other TV shows like GOT and This Is Us.
J2 both loved “Death's Door” then realized we weren't in it much. Jensen: Are we weighing it down? Jared: We're critical of ourselves
Fan: Jensen, you were amazing last night [at the concert]. Jared: Oh, if you think he was amazing last night... :P
Fan asks if Jensen really played piano on Dark Angel and any memories from the show?  It was a little of both Jensen and a pro (close-ups are not him playing). It was a VERY difficult song to learn how to play, Chopin he thinks. He has to think hard to dig up funny stories.
When Jessica Alba gets in the boxing ring (with him) she lined up the punch and hit him RIGHT in the nose. (One of the MANY reasons it’s “so jacked up”) He was too young to say “cut! That hurt!” Realizes he doesn’t do that now, either lol.
Another episode he gets slapped, but the actress wasn’t getting the timing for the fake slap right. She was petite so he assumed it wouldn’t be too bad... But he had a WELT on his face. Whole crew went “oof.”
“Scoobynatural” question for the final scene, how many takes? A small crowd had gathered outside across the street. They’re 20 yards away and can’t hear the regular dialogue. But Jensen knew they would get that last line, and he was embarrassed to say the line because those people wouldn’t know the context.
Jared: They’re so old they’re animating themselves to be on camera! lol
A fan said she lost her favorite beanie in the Bellagio fountain and was asking on recommendations to get a new one.
Jared gave his beanie to the fan aww. Then Jensen told Jared that he lost his favorite watch, and Jared immediately took off his watch and gave it to Jensen. Jensen cuddles Jared. Jared then tells Jensen he lost his favorite pair of underwear LOL
Last question: Fan wants to know where Jensen and Jared went during the “French Mistake” episode.  Jensen says they were at a con. Jared says VegasCon! Or maybe it was Balthazar. But Jensen prefers to think they just didn’t show up for work because “they’re asshole actors.”
Hugs, standing ovation for the boys, J2 give each other and the fans some love before taking off :) (photo credit: x)

A Decision at the Crossroads
 A Heartland AU - Chapter 1
Back up to speed after passing yet another work zone and those ridiculous signs touting that this delay was brought to you by a slew of politicians ‘rebuilding’ Alberta and then he smiled as a new song hit the speakers and he happily joined in.
“On a dark desert highway
Cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance
I saw a shimmering light
Head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
Had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway
Heard the mission bell
I was thinking to myself, ‘This could be heaven or this could be hell
Then she lit up a candle
She showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor
Thought I heard them say
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place
(Such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California

“Call from Amy. To answer…..”
“Hey sweetheart.”
“Hi Poppa, it’s Lyndy.”
“Hi honey, does momma know you have her phone ?”
“Of course, I’m helping.” Of course was Lyndy’s new catch phrase, neither he nor Amy had any idea where it came from.
“And how are you helping ?”
“Momma wants to know if you’ll be home by dinner.”
“I don’t think so sweetheart, I can’t go very fast with these horses, can I talk to momma ?”
“Of course but she’s helping JT in the bathroom so you’ll have to wait, are you singing with the radio ?”
“I sure am.”
“I like when you sing with momma.”
He heard Lyndy talking off the phone for a second before an obvious phone transfer, “Hello my love.”
“Hey sweetheart, what’s up with Jackson ?”
“Oh it was nothing, we were finger painting new pictures for the fridge to welcome you home, just some serious hand and face washing. No hope for dinner huh ?”
“No and they’re fixing the roads so there are detours with the trailer and the horses are still a bit skittish so I’m stopping to settle them often.”
“Well take your time and watch yourself with them.”
“Never mind me, how are you feeling ?”
“You mean aside from really missing you ?”
“That bad huh ? I love it when your pregnant.”
“Oh stop, it’s kind of fun.”
“More than kind of fun, anyway, I don’t think I’ll be that late but don’t wait up, you need your sleep.”
“Ok, we’ll see, Lisa’s making dinner, maybe I can catch a nap.”
“A nap would be great.”
“I promise to try, you stay safe.”
“I will, love you !!”
“We love you too sweetheart.”
There was no really direct route from Northern Alberta to the South so from Cold Lake down, with the idea of keeping the trailer on the most sound roads possible the rescues were transported in a weirdly circuitous path around large cities but at the same time keeping to at least paved roads as opposed to what sometimes passed as a numbered and posted road in Alberta, nothing more than dirt that two cars could pass together.
There was also the stopping, sometimes a quick pit stop for food, water or to use a rest room and sometimes just to see the horses and have them see him, check on feed, water and a gently pat and offer a calm word to settle them. They were mostly better from the medical problems stemming from their abandonment and lack of nutrition but mentally they were distrusting, skittish and somewhat unpredictable. Ordinarily they would have left the kids for a few days at the ranch with family and Amy would have come along but with her pregnant  and the unsurety of a trailer and transport they decided against it. Besides Amy wasn’t sleeping well and out of her first trimester they had decided that this was best, home at the ranch. It was a lonely drive but there was the scenery and the radio.
“You who are on the road
Must have a code that you can live by
And so become yourself
Because the past is just a good-bye.
Teach your children well,
Their father's hell did slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams
The one they picks, the one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you will cry,
So just look at them and sigh
And know they love you.
And you, of tender years,
Can't know the fears that your elders grew by,
And so please help them with your youth,
They seek the truth before they can die.
Teach your parents well,
Their children's hell will slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams
The one they picks, the one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you will cry,
So just look at them and sigh and know they love you.”
Traffic was slowing again up ahead and the truck slowed and finally came to a stop. 30 minutes later following the other cars and trucks inching along he was exited onto yet another of the endless detours that seemed to plague this trip. Turning twice it seemed the detour included a terrible pot hole filled road that was mostly dirt at this point.
35 minutes later after brushing the dirt from his knees and wiping his brow with his sleeve he reached for his phone and dialed.
“Hey, you Ok ?”
“Cracked rocker arm on the truck I think, damned potholes, I was so focused on the trailer I must have missed it. The horses are fine but I’m going to have to get this trailer towed somewhere I can keep these horses overnight and get the truck picked up. Maybe I’ll luck out and there’s a Dodge dealership close that has the rocker in stock.”
“So what’s the plan ?”
“I guess I’ll call the local vet first and see if they can recommend someplace that can isolate these three. Maybe even a garage that can deal with an emergency and we’ll see where we are first thing. I’d hate for someone to have to drive up.”
“We’ll hope for the best, but we’ll all miss not having you back tonight.”
“I know, kiss the kids for me, I’ll call later once I have some idea of what’s going on.”
“and for goodnights.”
“And for good nights. Love you.”
“So much in love with you.”
Once the horses were picketed out between the woods and the trailer, hay spread and water supplied he checked his phone and dialed.
“Nelson Lake Veterinary Clinic, your call is important to us, please hold.”
“Nelson Lake, this is Dr. Burton can I help you ?”
It took a few minutes for introductions and to run  the sad tale by Dr. Burton who understood immediately.
“How about this, stay put and I’ll call my tech and get him on board and then let the sheriff know you’re out there. Once that’s done we’ll see about the truck, I’d like those horses off the road.”
“I’m all for that, you have my number ?”
“Yup, just fine, call you back in 10.”
The Police cruiser pulled past the trailer and truck and onto the side of the road a respectful distance from the horses so as not to spook them and walked over to introduce himself.
Immediately after greetings and introductions the phone rang.
“Go ahead, that’s probably Kelsey, uh Dr. Burton” the officer who had introduced himself as Matthew Connolly told him “Alright if I say hello to these three ?”
Answering the phone he nodded at the officer and then covered the phone “tread lightly they’re rescues.”
The plan wasn’t that complicated, the clinic’s vet tech would come in the clinic truck with the wrecker who would disconnect the truck from the trailer, hook the clinic truck to the trailer and then follow the trailer back to the stables that would house the horses. In the morning they would get the truck off the ground and see what was up and move on from there.
“Should be 20 minutes or so, you don’t have to wait.”
“I’m going to turn around and park behind you, I don’t like the horses open like that, they see my cruiser they won’t do something stupid like pull an air horn.”
“I hate to take your time but I do appreciate it.”
“I’m fine so where you hail from ?”
“We have a small ranch down near Hudson.”
“Hudson ? Whereabouts is that ?
“Let’s see Okotoks?”
“Oh sure, you’ve got a herd ?”
“Two actually, White Face, my wife’s family has a herd we’re partners in, they’re just down the road, and we’ve got a herd at our place, best beef in Alberta.”
“And the rescues ?”
“My wife’s business is horses, training, rehab, you name it.”
“Kids ?”
“Two, girl and a boy and one on the way.”
He swiped his finger over the screen and handed the phone to Officer Connolly.
“Nice looking family, that’s your spread behind you, looks inviting.”
“I love it and them, pretty idyllic if you ask me, our family almost sold it a few years ago, don’t know what we were thinking.”
“Young and stupid like the rest of us.”
Two chairs were pulled from a side storage locker on the trailer and there was an almost fresh thermos of coffee the young officer offered.
“Always wanted to be a sheriff, police work ?”
“Oh yeah, my Uncle Pete was a Mountie, that was awesome.”
“No serge for you though ?”
“Bum knee from hockey, fine for a sheriff but not a Mountie. No complaints, I live with the people I serve and I like it. I guess you’ve always wanted to be a rancher.”
“Early on for sure and now I wouldn’t trade it for anything but I did a stint in the Army and when I came home was off to the oil fields but I met my wife.”
“Guys go off to the field and back to the army and have wives.”
“Not me, marriage is a commitment, you don’t mess with that. Small trips and the like fine but 4 month commitments away, doesn’t seem right. Besides I don’t think I could be away from her, the kids or the ranch for that long.”
“That’s nice though, you know, the way it should be.”
“Before the kids and sometimes if we get volunteers for the kids we do trips like this together, it’s why we bought this thing. How about you, married ?”
“Soon enough, engaged, can’t wait, we have a down payment on a small place with a bit of property, she’s a teacher but we both wanted some land, maybe get a couple horses.”
“Some nice country for riding around here, not a bad way to spend time for newlyweds.”
They stopped and got up leaving their empty cups when the pickup pulled behind the cruiser and the wrecker pulled up in front of the trailer rig.
“Matt, how’s everything ?” The younger man asked walking up and then a second later the second, an older man also walked over. “Matt, Ty” he said smiling.
“Dwayne Coolidge, Ty Borden” this is Mitch uhmm.”
“Cutty, Mitch Cutty, thanks to both of you for coming out.”
“It’s what we do” Dwayne said, “Ok, let’s crank down the trailer and see if we get lucky and it frees the truck.”
“Mitch, you have papers for these guys I can see ?” Ty asked “Sorry but the cops are here so, you know.” He finished with a smile at Mitch and the officer.
“We’ll start on the trailer.” Matt said walking around the truck to the jack handle assembly on the other side of the rig.”
Ty leaned against the trailer as Mitch reached in to grab the leather folder where he kept the important papers for the trip. A minute later he handed Ty the three stapled sets of papers and the vet reports.
“Well they’re clear medically, and let’s see Saddle Road Ranch Corporation, Hudson, AB. I know that area a little from years ago, can’t say I know the name, is it new ?”
“I’m 4th generation.”
“Guess not then,” Ty said filling out a form off the papers.
“How’s this going to work ?”
“Ok, well, once the trailer’s free and the truck’s out of the way we’ll hook it up the vet truck, load up the horses and head over to my place. The clinic has a four stall isolation barn there. I also run a small bike shop, mostly vintage repairs and restorations so in the morning we can look at your truck and figure something out. You can sleep in the house or hook up outside the barn, looks like a comfortable ride. Up to you.”
“I’m fine in the trailer and all set up actually if you’ve got a hose and a plug.”
“There’s actually a trailer hookup out there, I stayed in one while we got the house fixed up.”
“We ? Married Ty ?”
“Not yet anyway, we is Kelsey, or the clinic and I, we share ownership and I’m paying it off so eventually it’ll be mine. I’m finishing vet school next year so we have an agreement. By the way she’ll be stopping by in case you want to give them something to calm down after all of this.”
“No worries, I have some herbs that’ll do the trick, we try to steer clear of the drugs if we can, keep ‘em healthy and they stay that way.”
“Can’t argue with that philosophy I guess, consider the option though, one’s sure fired and one’s not.”
Mitch sat in his fold out chair in front of a small fire he had started in the fire pit. Dr. Burton had stopped by and took a quick look at the horses. She was satisfied that Mitch
was confident in his herbs and wished both he and Ty goodnight. Ty offered to share a take out order with Mitch declaring he’d have done it anyway and they settled on pizza which was delivered.
They ate and sipped a couple beers that Mitch supplied.
“If you don’t mind my asking, aren’t a bit old to be in vet school, take a break ?”
“Got sidetracked a few years ago and took a break in college, worked out Ok I guess between the bike work and vet work I’m doing well. You ?”
“After high school I did a stint in the military and went to school at the same time, electrical engineering mostly power line work. After I came back ,my folks were talking about selling the ranch and I had the idea of doing some oil work, change of pace kind of thing.”
“And ?”
“And, I met a woman, fell madly in love, kept the ranch.”
“Kids ?”
“Two, one on the way.” Mitch said finishing his beer. “I’m out.” He said placing the empty on the small table.
“I’ll grab a couple from the house” Ty said getting up as Mitch’s phone rang.
“Just in time” Ty said standing and turning as Mitch answered.
Ty caught the first of Mitch’s conversation, stopped for a second, shrugged and moved on.
“Hey Lyndy, you and JT call for goodnights ?”

 Dark Moon Kingdom
In my AU version of things, it’s important to understand the setting and my version on the Dark Moon Kingdom to get certain parts of the plot.  The Dark Moon Kingdom, rather than being on the moon, is on Earth, it’s just sort of a parallel version of Earth.  It’s sort of on a separate plan of existence, but royalty and those with enough magic can pass through the barrier between the two earths. Normal Earth, where the main cast lives, is what’s left of the Moon Kingdom, but at this point has been wiped out and few descendants remain (Seri unknowingly being one of them). And as an added note, both Kingdoms have a crystal used by the royalty to protect their Kingdoms.  The Moon Kingdom has the Silver Crystal while the Dark Moon Kingdom has the Dark Crystal. Neither have the negative side effects they have in the show, they just can only be used by royalty and shouldn’t be used if severely injured of sick since they use a lot of energy.
But that part isn’t really important, the important part is that the Dark Moon Kingdom sort of has three genders, male (XY), female (XX), and males that can naturally give birth (YY).  Thus the bold letters near the characters show what their true genders are. YY’s are for all intent and purposes male and are recognized as men (albeit somewhat feminine men), they just are capable of getting pregnant (although they can impregnate females like normal men).  Note Earth doesn’t follow these rules, thus making all the original Sailor Male Scouts XY men.  And no, I’m not trying to excuse the homosexual relationships by saying they’re not quite men, the YY thing just works out for the story (plus it needed to be used).
 Endyre and Seri
In the universe this story takes place in, Seri ends up with Endyre instead of Darren.  Circumstances aren’t happy though.  When Endyre attacked Earth when the original cast were 14, his plan was to reunite the Moon Kingdom with the Dark Moon Kingdom (make two Earth’s one). This was due to the fact the two worlds were originally one, but due to the Great War thousands of years ago, the Moon Kingdom split to avoid being wiped out by the Dark Moon Kingdom.  The Moon Kingdom was so weakened at this point though and had no known living royalty, so the Kingdom ended up dying out. The Dark Moon Kingdom, while not destroyed, was significantly weakened by the split and suffered other hardships (which I won’t go into).  Basically though, Endyre wanted to reunite the two Kingdoms due to his world slowly dying without the aid of the Silver Crystal.
But Seri has the Silver Crystal and is a long lost descendant of the royal family of the Moon Kingdom (and is therefore the only one who can use the Crystal), thus why Endyre initially pursues him.  The Silver Crystal can save the Dark Moon Kingdom, a world that lives off magic and needs the light of the Silver Crystal to sustain this magic while Earth has already lost its magic (thus being fine even if it lost the Silver Crystal).
The battle between the Sailor Scouts and Endyre rages for two years with no side winning (note children from the future don’t exist or come to assist either side).  In fact, Endyre is slowly starting to overwhelm the scouts to the point where innocent people are being killed in the crossfire, the scouts not able to keep up with Endyre’s army.  But Endyre, not a complete douche at heart, doesn’t want to destroy the people of Earth, he only wants to help his people.  He decides to try and make a deal with Seri, if Seri will become his “wife” and use the Silver Crystal to help his world, he will leave Earth along with the other scouts alone.
Seri ends up agreeing, having gained some maturity over these two years and realizing he and the other scouts won’t be able to beat Endyre.  He leaves his boyfriend, Darren, along with the other scouts behind and goes with Endyre back to the Dark Moon Kingdom.  The relationship isn’t happy between the two of them; Endyre basically forces himself on Seri (since Seri’s still stubborn and refuses to fully cooperate with being Endyre’s “wife”) and uses the power of the Dark Crystal to make Seri capable of bearing children.  Neither really care for the other, Seri despises Endyre for what he does to him while Endyre initially couldn’t care less about Seri, only wanting him as a way of saving his Kingdom and uniting the bloodlines (thus making their children capable of using both Crystals).
The abusive relationship between the two of them continues for years, and it’s not until after Lunaria and Lunoir are born that things have improved slightly.  Seri still dislikes Endyre, but hates him less than he use to while Endyre has started to care for Seri.  But I won’t go into this too much since it’s super long and this section is already getting pretty long.  Important thing is things get better between them, Seri ends up sleeping with Darren at some point (as well as Endyre on the same day) and gets pregnant with Chibisei and Chidisei and Endyre works to raise all six of the kids as a weird, somewhat dysfunctional family.  And all the kids are super kickass, the Dark Kingdom valuing the ability to fight above most other things.
Quick side note on why Aime and Minoru can get pregnant
Basically in contact with Silver Crystal too much, and being Sailor Scouts left a sort of mark that made the Silver Crystal eventually let them get pregnant (Seri wished them happiness and to have a loving family with whoever they ended up falling in love with, he just didn’t know it would affect them like that).  Plus, Endyre does eventually let Seri visit everyone whenever he wants.
Actual Plot of the Next Gen Story
An alien race (we’ll call them the Nebel, German for mist), are a race of humanoid like people that travel to other planets in search of races they can successfully reproduce with.  Their species suffers from a severe lack of females (1 in 300 chance of child being a girl) and they have no nifty mpreg powers to make up for this.  Sadly, reproducing with other races doesn’t increase the chance of having a female, so it’s necessary for the Nebel to constantly do this.  But since they prefer not to interfere too much in other world’s affairs, they only take some people from the planets they visit and then go back home, finding a new planet and race of people when necessary.
Basically, males of their race will travel with a small group of other males to acquire a wife from another planet when they reach adulthood (although only more elite males tend to do this, other males will remain childless and might take another male of their own race as a life partner.  This keeps the population from becoming unreasonably high since those with wives tend to have a lot of children, sometimes for adoption and such for childless couples). Earth just so happens to be the place one such small team of Nebel is visiting.
The Nebel find out that some men on Earth (actually Dark Moon Kingdom alternate Earth) are capable of giving birth, and seeing how this could possibly benefit their race if the same ability is passed to their male offspring, they try to steal away YY males. But Endyre’s crafty and due to the power of both crystals, the Nebel can’t enter the Dark Moon Kingdom. Basically this leads to a lot of conflict and the Nebel refuse to leave Earth without getting “wives.”  So lots of fighting ensues and the children of the original cast get involved, mostly cause Endyre is actively resisting the Nebel and his children get involved as a result (and are connected with the other three main characters in some significant way).
 The Nebel
They can turn into mist and use this to get to hard to reach areas, thus why they are called the Nebel.  Hiding from them is somewhat useless because this ability lets them sneak though small cracks and such.  They look exactly like normal humans except they have markings all along their body, similar to tribal markings (although less complex).  Their eyes also don’t really have pupils, they instead have a ring where the pupil would be (think of a pupil with only the edge outlined). Note they can mask these strange features to appear like normal humans.  Elite men of this race tend to be overly aggressive, although there are exceptions. Most Nebel are also much stronger and faster than normal humans, and often have a special power (although most powers are mist related).  And despite the whole forcing other races to be their mates, most Nebel are free to choose what they do with their lives (so they are only elitist in thinking their own race is the best).  Even the rare females aren’t openly forced to marry (although it’s highly encouraged) and even though some Nebel will take many wives and then breed children for adoption, other Nebel can take one wife and start a family if they so wish.
Important Nebel, although there are still more (I haven’t developed them much yet, but about 20 came on the mission to Earth)
Swen- The leader and oldest of the group (36ish). Has already had a wife from another planet, but due to her death, he came on this mission to find a new wife. A rather cold and calculating individual, he’s the strongest in the group as well as the smartest.  He’s also from a super elite family, so is somewhat like a high noble in his society.  He and Seleme have an interesting relationship.
Dieter- The Nebel after Nikita (and the most successful of all the group).  Is one of the least aggressive of the group and actually seduces Nikita (at least as much as one can seduce a naïve 14 year old boy).  Believes in trying to win over a mate rather than just take one, although this doesn’t mean he’s above trickery when the situation doesn’t go his way. He tends to come off as a manipulating pedophile…a lot (although that’s technically what he is).
Jurgen-  Sadist of the group and twin brother of Ma’ik.  Pursues Rain, since he finds her much more enticing than any of the males he meets on Earth.  Wants a mate purely for the sexual component of it while the other also at least have children on mind along with the sex.  Crazy is the easiest way to describe this one.
Ma’ik- Twin brother of Jurgen and only slightly less crazy than his brother (but not really).  While his brother is very vocal about his depravity, Ma’ik tends to be fairly quiet and serious.  This doesn’t mean he can't get worked up though.  When it comes down to it, he’s probably more depraved and sadistic than his brother. Think of him like a creepy, quiet stalker that would follow you home in the middle of the night without you knowing and then proceed to rape and torture you as soon as he got you alone. Takes a special interest in Kamsuke (Lunoir is far from pleased about this).  Second strongest Nebel of the group.
Uta-  Only female Nebel on board.  She’s the 15 year old daughter of Swen and he brought her to Earth to see if she could find a mate of her own (although he never really stresses the issue and mainly brought her to keep her safe from being married off on their home planet while he’s away.  He’s a bit of an overprotective dad when it comes to her).  A mostly sweet girl, but can get a bit Tsundere at times.  Seems mostly naïve to what the other Nebel are doing, but when she does understand, she mostly supports what’s going on (although like Dieter, believes mates should be seduced rather than forced). Has a weird sort of romance with Rikuto (the only straight couple that kind of works out in this crazy story).
Characters Roles in Story (the briefer version)
 Seleme
While he does help fight the Nebel, he’s sort of left his family at this point so he does his own thing rather than cooperate with the others. He specializes in seducing and sleeping with men (it’s his “fighting style”), and focuses on Swen, realizing he’s the leader.  Thinks Swen doesn’t realize he’s seducing him for information, but Swen realizes what he’s doing from the beginning.  Swen eventually decides to try and make him his mate since he finds the idea of taking Endyre’s first born and heir to the Dark Moon Kingdom highly amusing.  Seleme also ends up pregnant with his kid around this point.  Note Seleme’s more willful than he seems and doesn’t take this lying down (no pun intended). But despite all this, he does find himself attracted to Swen.
Lunoir
Really really really hates the Nebel (on par with his father on this issue).  Can hold his own against the Nebel the best out of everyone and has to spend a lot of time helping Kamsuke and Rain (he and Lunaria do tend to stick together after all). Him and Ma’ik tend to have a lot of bitter battles, but Ma’ik is always too strong to ever be defeated.
Lunaria
While some of the Nebel do take an interest in her, most ignore her in favor of either Rain or the other cute, femy boys.  Her and Lunoir do most of the fighting through this whole ordeal and spend a lot of time on normal Earth trying to help Rain and Kamsuke (since they refuse to go to the Dark Moon Kingdom for whatever reason).
Chibisei
Stays back in the Dark Moon Kingdom a lot to help her parents, but will go to Earth with Lunaria and Lunoir occasionally.  She’s usually viewed as too young to be useful for bearing children, so the Nebel tend to ignore her (note this is based on her looks over her age much of the time).  Mainly works closely with her father to figure out how to solve the problem of the Nebel.  She’s also the first to notice what’s happening to Nikita and tries to get everyone to help, but by then it’s too late.
Chidisei
Kinda useless when it comes down to it.  He can’t help Chibisei and his parents, but isn’t good at fighting like his older siblings.  Him, Kamsuke, and Nikita (who also wants to help but doesn’t know what he can do) decide to do their own research on the Nebel by confronting some of them (which doesn’t always end well and sometimes ends with Lunaria and Lunoir having to save the day).  Feels responsible about what eventually happens to his best friend and brother, even if it’s not his fault.
Nikita
Has it the worst right after Kamsuke.  He meets Deiter while he’s searching for information about the Nebel with Chidisei and Kamsuke.  Deiter is disguised as a normal person at the time, so they don’t recognize the danger. Much of what happens to Nikita is that whenever he’s alone, Deiter shows up and starts going all seductive pedophile on him.  Nikita is very naïve though, so he doesn’t initially realize the danger Deiter poses. Deiter eventually manipulates him into having sex with him multiple times (never quite rape, but not totally consensual either) and Nikita ends up pregnant, at which point Deiter kidnaps him. Eventually gets taken back to the Nebels’s home planet with Deiter (thus why Deiter is the most successful of all the Nebel, he gets his “wife,” even if at the expense of his “wife’s“ happiness).
Rain
She and Lunaria are such the battle couple in this, it isn’t even funny (with Lunoir added as the somewhat condescending brother/brother-in-law). Jurgen takes an unhealthy interest in her, but surprisingly she avoids getting raped unlike every other character a specific Nebel takes an interest in.  She doesn’t want to flee to the Dark Moon Kingdom for protection since she fears her parents (specifically Minoru) will be targeted.
Rikuto
Him and Seleme would be good friends if they took the effort.  He also acts a bit independently in fighting the Nebel (he uses Chakram like weapons) and meets Uta by chance when she’s being super naïve at a convenience store.  Initially thinks she’s a normal girl and doesn’t realize she’s a Nebel until they’ve both developed feelings for each other.  He’s straight, unlike everyone else in this story, and his relationship with Uta is one of the key factors to solving the problem with the Nebel.
Kamsuke
Poor, poor Kamsuke.  He suffers a lot due to being the only YY male on normal Earth.  He’s a sickly boy in this universe and is wheelchair bound (although he can still fight with a bow made of his energy).  Ma’ik takes an unhealthy interest in him, wanting someone to both torture and have as a pet to bear his children (the crippled legs is a sort of turn on for him since it means Kama can never run away and would have to drag himself along the ground in an attempt to get away from him). Lunoir works hard to try and protect him, but like Rain, he refuses to go to the Dark Moon Kingdom for similar reasons.  Despite Lunoir’s best efforts and almost constant supervision, Ma’ik eventually manages to kidnap Kama and proceeds to torture and rape him.  The experience leaves him devastated, broken, and (you guessed it) pregnant.  Added to this, like Deiter, Ma’ik succeeds in getting Kamsuke back to his home planet. Lunoir and the others eventually manage to rescue him (after a few years of course), but Lunoir and Kama have a long road of recovery ahead of them.

Egos Mob AU: Additional List
Here is The MasterList that contains stuff that does not have much to do with the main storyline or was brought up in the asks: I. Frequently Asked Questions II. Headcanons III. Fanwork IV. Taglist (if you wanna be added ask me!)
AU Creators: @pistachiolan & @murder-schmurder
[ MAIN MASTERPOST CAN BE FOUND HERE ]
BOTH LISTS WILL BE CONSTANTLY UPDATED Last update: 03.05.2019
I. FAQ:
1. Will other egos/characters be in the story? - Right now we don’t plan on adding any other egos, be it Jack’s or Mark’s or anybody else’s. As for characters, they appear as we go.
2. What’s Marvin’s gender? - They are genderfluid, meaning their gender can change: male, female, both or neither. Usually, they don’t care what pronouns you address them [he/she/them] if they do feel like using a certain pronoun that day - they will politely ask for it.
3. What about time and place of the events? - Well, we didn’t want to limit ourselves to a certain country, but it’s a place in the northern hemisphere, with port, forest and river. The time is present or even slightly futuristic considering existence of BING, but some aesthetics can appear like from ’20 and ‘30.
4. Will Jack be in the story? - No. For the personal reason, we prefer not to include real people in this AU
5. Are there/Will there be any romantic or intimate relationships in the story? - As the story starts, Marvin, Anti and Jackie are in open poly-relationship, however, it’s not the main point of the story nor will be any romantic relationship. As for others... we will just have to see, no spoilers :)
6. Who is Jacques/Angus/Connor/Bing/Shawn? - Jacques is French artist who appeared in series like Passpartout - Angus comes from OLD series on Jack’s channel called: The Survival Hunter - Connor (The Announcer) is an ego whose voice appears in series like “Japan World Cup” or “Stories Untold”. Connor is a name I came up with - Bing (Bingsepticeye) is a fan character, that was created as Jack’s version of Mark’s Google (Before Mark’s Bing appeared) - Shawn Flynn is a character from BATIM, Jack did the voice for him in the game. (None of those characters has canon name /except for Shawn/ or design so all of them were designed by me.)
7. Are all artworks on your blog related to the Mob AU? - No, I do other stuff as well, this is my art blog, all Mob AU stuff will be tagged as #egos-mob-au
8. What confirmed non-ego characters are in the story so far? - Deceased, but mentioned in the story: Mr Brody (Chase’s father), Trent, Olivia and Marcus (Chase’s siblings), The Sisters (Crime Organisation that Anti previously worked for), Jackie’s mother - Alive: Mary (One of JJ’s spies), Sarah&Sam+Stacy (Chase’s kids and ex-wife), Diana (Jackie’s sister)
9. Where can I find the survey where I can choose my favourite character in Mob AU? :) [ RIGHT HERE ] [ Results so far ]
10. Are we gonna see how the non-ego characters look like? - Everything in due time :)
11. Can I write a story/draw something/make an edit/Share a theory or headcanon/etc based of off your Mob AU? - OF COURSE! Both I and @murder-schmurder absolutely love seeing what people can come up with, so please tag us so we can see it! :)

THINGS I LOVED ABOUT AVENGERS ENDGAME
SPOILERS.
Based on the amazing post by @saieras (21 things I loved about endgame), anything pushed by blockquotes (the little line on the left), and some of the titles, come directly from said post --DISCLAIMER -- and means I agree completely.
1. THE FIRST 20 MINUTES
Expectations? Chuck them out the window. They weren’t kidding when they said all promotional material came from the first 20 mins!!! I loved how they got right into the thick of things, cameras blazing, completely no nonsense. And CAROL omg. Also I did NOT expect Thanos’ death to be, Just Like That.
CAROL, again.
2. THE TIME JUMP
Very, very smart move. I liked everything about the time jump. It lets us view the event with a lens of a world shattered, a world that has had the chance to come to its senses and reel from the catastrophe.
3. TONY CONFRONTS STEVE
I have firmly been Team Iron Man since Civil War, and Tony is my favourite character (I am not okay), so suffice to say that I loved how, even weakened with malnourishment, he got in Steve’s face, and everything he said.
4. THE LANGS
Just. Every joke he made. Fantastic. But also I did not expect to shed my first tear at his and Cassie’s reunion. That was great.
5. DOMESTIC TONY
Tony and Morgan. Such a real, cute father-daughter relationship. ‘Mommy send me to rescue you’ and ‘Love you three thousand’ filled my heart with joy.
6. INTERN
Tony and Peter’s photo (...)  AND THAT PHOTO WAS HIS. In HIS HOUSE. FRAMED. I REALLY wish we got more but that moment was very powerful. Still, I was unsatisfied. I wanted Tony to cry. I wanted Morgan to also know about Peter. Basically I want more canonical proof of Irondad Spiderson. Like, listen, this is the one loss that haunts Tony to this day. Peter’s death was the kind of pain that made Tony terrified of going again, for fear of losing Morgan
7. THE NYC SCENE
ALL of it. From Tony the security guard, to him talking shit about his own deodorant, to him giving himself a cardiac arrest to cause a diversion and being like this is fine, nothing to see here. And Hulk vs stairs. And STEEB. OMG STEEB. “Hail Hydra.“ “I’ve got visuals on Loki.” “I can do this all da–“ “Yeah. I know. I know.“
“Bucky… Is… ALIVE“
And butt jokes. So many Steve buttjokes. I don’t ship stony, but that is the closest y’all will get to a stony suggestive scene.
ALSO LOKI just yeeting himself outta there. That’s ma boi!
8. FRIGGA AND THOR
Nuff said. Mama Frigga is the best.
9. TONY AND HOWARD
It’s really great how adorable Tony was throughout this scene. And… while Howard was NOT redeemed, it’s nice to know he did love his son. And it’s great that Tony got some closure.
10. PEGGY AND STEVE
Out of the Big Three’s scenes with their “significant past people”, this one was the least impactful for me, as they didn’t even talk, BUT in retrospect it set the scene for later perfectly.
Also because I don’t much care for Steve.
11. GAMORA
This is GREAT and showcases her character very well, who she really is despite who Thanos raised her to be.
True, the minute she realizes Thanos’ plan is to wipe out half the universe, she is so clearly appalled (I don’t think she really knew what he planned for after he gathered all stones), and immediately starts to reconsider her position on the whole thing.
12. CLINT AND NATASHA
Their friendship was on full display during this film. Their scenes. And how it was all platonic. The entire audience knew, as soon as they landed on Vormir, that one of them wasn’t going to make it.
- I knew it would be Natasha , though, Clint and his family, and Natasha and her whole “I need redemption, I’m still trying to be a better person” -
Back to the Vormir scene: it was amazing, and heartbreaking, the lengths they were willing to go to make sure they were the sacrifice, like, how they were willing to injure if it meant the other were alive at the end. Clint and Natasha were never my favourites (except around Avengers), but I will forever applaud Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner for their outstanding performance.
13. THE BIG THREE FIGHT THANOS
Thor’s lightning and Tony’s Iron Man tech combining to kick purple ass, all of three of them holding the titan back while the others tried to crawl out of the rubble. Still, the “big three fight” was mainly focused on Steve, in my opinion.
Like previously stated, I’m not a greeeat Steve fan, but even I have to admit that Mjölnir zapping to his hand at that precise moment was awesome. I cheered right along with everyone else. Which also justifies Thor grabbing it along from the past and possibly, maybe, most likely, leaving his past-self without it?
Anyways, cue tears at each shard of the shield.
14. THE ENTRANCE OF THE HEROES
If I was crying before, the moment that Sam hails Steve, and Shuri, Okoye and T’Challa walk through that first portal I was outright sobbing.
Words don’t do justice to the emotion I felt at seeing ALL my heroes assemble for the last time. At each new face I cried harder. They didn’t forget anyone and that made me so fucking happy.
I felt as if I could climb into the screen and fight alongside them, I felt powerful enough and fired up enough to do it too. And that’s the magic of that scene, thank you cast and crew. Thank you MARVEL for the incredible build up, I thought it was worth it.
15. PETER AND TONY
How Peter goes straight for Tony and cute rambling mode is already turned on, but Tony can’t even speak, and just falls into the hug in a parallel of their “hug” in Infinity War.
“Oh, this is nice!”
The moment is essencial since Peter, and not really any of the other tens of trillions* that vanished in the snap, is the reason Tony embarks in the time travel venture, even when it could’ve cost him so much. So it validates his choice, besides his being, you know, a true hero.
16. CAROL’S ENTRANCE
I missed her in this movie. I mean, I thought she would be in almost every shot, but maybe that was just because I think she’s fantastic. Her entrance, tho.
“What are they shooting at?” “Something just entered the atmosphere”
And then blast! Singlehandedly destroying the mothership (Thanos’ looks so fucking offended and we can see any conviction of victory waning from his expression), and kicking some ass. Way to establish dominance early on girl!
I mean, I played with the idea of Infinity-War-Thor being equal to Carol, (and maybe, maybe, he could’ve come a close) but now? She’s so clearly in another level... No words except: goddess.
17. PETER IN THE BATTLE + CAROL
Instant kill mode
So proud of him. The way he flips in, and is instantly like Woah this is a Big Fight!!
“Hey Peter Parker. Got something for me?”
CAROL. CArol listen. You are his mom now. That’s how it works with that damn kid. (...) It be like that sometimes.
I don’t think Carol would ever be around enough for anything close to parental relationship (plus, May is Peter’s mom), but that boy will worship the hero-shit out of Captain Marvel.
18. MARVEL’S HEROINES
If my crying had eased a bit from the general assemble moment, I fucking cracked again here. They are so tough, and powerful, and beautiful.
As a woman, it was so damn empowering and important to see all of them up there, together, each with their own background and their own strengths. I love how we had all kinds of women - warriors, mothers, princesses, generals, wives, captains, businesswomen, scientists, girlfriends, assasins, friends, witches - and all of them fighters.
I also can’t wait for the gifset and the final still - it’s gonna be my background for about everything.
Also RESCUE. OMG. PEPP. And the battlefield fighting side by side with Tony.
19. TONY’S SEND OFF
His death. I was glad Pepper was the last one there, to tell him it’s okay, they’ll be fine, he can let go.
AND PETER. Peter was there, trying to talk to him, sobbing and breaking down. This is what I wanted, going in, if Tony were to die. And this is what I got. You just know this is going to haunt him in FFH.
And Tony himself. His immense sacrifice, the moment he knew what he had to do, the moment Strange held up that finger. One way. UGH.
Of course I knew Natasha wouldn’d be the only one to die, but damn, I’m still feeling the hole his amazing fictional character left/ is going to leave in my life. Literally the only one (Peter was of course safe with Far From Home around the corner) I didn’t want to die. I loved him before my heart was inflated with Stark-family feels.
The lake house was so peaceful and I loved how it showed that after all his trouble, his PTSD, Tony had found a home and a family (even if somethings haunted him).
The picture, and how devastated Peter is can only mean that between Homecoming and Infinity War they grew closer, which had always been what I wanted. But I wanted to see it! Fanfiction will have to continued to lull my pain, I guess.
Speaking of fanfiction, Harley being at the funeral is all the proof my little fanheart needs to claim they’ve not only been in contact through the years, but had a mentor/parental relationship as well.
The question for me now is: how well do the boys know each other?
20. AND FINALLY, TONY. RDJ.
Thank you. Beyond all words, Thank you.
This has been one hell of a ride.
FOREVER IRON MAN

The Wives of that asshole Henry
TV show idea: it's King Henry VIII but as a modern mob boss. I've been thinking about this all morning so y'all get to read it. Season 1: Catherine of Aragon. Henry is running his little mob family. We found out he got put in charge after marrying the daughter of the regional mob boss Clement VII (I clearly have no idea how these things work) Catherine Aragon after his brother, her former husband, died leaving him in charge. He's off cheating on her but it's a show marriage so whatever. Enter pretty little Anne. He's super in to Anne who's surprisingly good at the business side of things. She starts staying with him while Catherine is off staying with her family for a bit. Anne gets pregnant and insists Henry Marry her. He gets a new second in command who encourages him to step away from the Aragons and just be their own family. End of season he divorces Catherine and marries Anne as a bit statement of his leaving the family to make his own.  But the Aragons family stays on as a main antagonist for the series.
Season 2: Anne Bolyeon. Season starts with Anne pregnant and  they're a happy sweet loving couple, him tying up loose ends while taking her to dr.s appointments and setting up the nursery but the episode ends with Elisabeth being born early. Between Elisabeth being born preemie and Henry now being the head of his own major family (blah blah mob politics) they are super rocky. As the season goes along it gets worse, she's refusing to be a polite little wife and wants to be  working on mob things (someone else would really have to write these bits!) but he wants her at home taking care of the baby and his first daughter Mary and just generally being a trophy wife. He takes a lover so she takes a lover. He moves in his new lover, Jayne partially so someone can take care of his daughters, while Anne runs to her brother. blah blah lots of violence and intrigue and Henry has Anne taken out in the final episode after rumors spiral that she's sleeping with her brother(we drop the "because she couldn't give him a son" bit because it's awful and was really only speculation anyway. She was officially arrested for the supposed adultery and incest thing)
Season 3: Jane Seymour. The first episode is disturbingly similar to the start of season 2 with Jane pregnant this time and ending with Edward born early. We flash back to their wedding in the second episode and that's where the season goes forward from. They actually have a pretty happy marriage though we see some cracks as she's trying desperately to be the perfect wife as rumors start that he had Anne killed. This season focuses more on the mob side of things with Jane being more in the background. She struggles being a step mom, he's still dealing with stuff from the Aragons and the hits he put out last season. The season ends with a second part to the first episode. Baby Edward is rushed to the NICU with Henry by his side while Jayne dies from complications in the birth.
Season 4: Anne von Cleaves. We see a distraught Henry dealing with his very sick son while morning the loss of his wife. Everyone is telling him he has to hire staff to take care of the kids  as he's starting to slip on the mob side of things. Meanwhile he's trying online dating in a fun filler episode to give everyone a break from the depressing start to the season. We see him go on some dates that can mimic some of the other important women from history at that time, but we also see him chatting a lot with Anne (yes another one, only because they're historically accurate can we get away with the names from here on out) a pretty model of famed photographer Hans Holbein. They mostly talk online or on the phone, they vaguely meet at Hans' art opening  and he proposes then and there. When she moves in he realizes how much of her was fake for her career. She's actually kind of awesome, has her own interests, not as pretty under the makeup, Henry is pissed. It turns into a big message about the "WoMeN ShOuLdN't WeAr MaKeUp iT's ChEaTiNg nonsense" They quickly dissolve the engagement and she goes back to work while his eye turns to the pretty little nurse who's been taking care of baby Eddie through all of this.
Season 5: Catherine Howard (it's all Catherine's from here on out folks) So once again single we think "oh he'll focus on work now and getting shit back under his control." We'll have just wrapped up some plot with a rival from the Aragons named Cromwell who tried to woo Anne von Cleaves giving Henry a chance to finally take him out. And the season will start that way but with lots of flirting with his nurse maid Catherine. (we're making her in her mid 20's instead of 17) She seems like kind of a ditsy flirt, super pretty, good with the baby, but not much going on upstairs so possibly a great fit for Henry since she won't cause trouble. We see the daughters, Mary and Elisabeth, going to highschool and drawing further away from their father especially disliking his new girlfriend. As Henry and Catherine start a romance we see her background, she's a brilliant and talented young woman (obviously, nursing school is not for the faint of heart) abused by her high school music teacher Henry Mannox who teaches her that as a pretty girl she doesn't have to work for anything just give men what they want and they'll take care of her. This is doubled down in college when the head of her department, Francis Dereham, coerces her into a relationship in return for easy A's. He has mob ties and get's her the job with Henry. We see Henry and Catherine have a short engagement and marriage as Henry is super busy, some new upstart or whatever. He's gone a lot and Catherine begins a friendship with his second in command, Thomas Culpeper. He pushes her into starting a relationship with him. Culpeper uses his relationship with Catherine to try a coup against Henry and he has them both killed.
Season 6: Catherine Parr (yep even spelled the same way, I cannot make this shit up) We start with one of those episodes that doesn't seem like it has anything to do with the series, about characters we've never seen before. Tom Parr is a rich businessman who start's making some bad choices, false in bad with the mob, the episode ends with him introducing his daughter to Henry while he's trying to get just a little longer to pay his debts. It's been a couple years since Catherine H. and Henry is completely smitten with Catherine P. He offers her father that is he convinces Catherine P. to marry Henry all the debts will be forgiven. Catherine P. is already engaged to a woman, Jane's sister. (It was through the Seymours that Tom met Henry int he first place) Catherine P. spends a heart wrenching episode having to decide between her love and duty to her family. Duty wins, she marries Henry, her father's debt is forgiven and she resolves herself to her situation. She tries to make the best of things, convincing Henry to invest in projects she believes in, helps him reconcile with his now grown daughters, convinces him to stop putting so much pressure on his sick son and just let the kid live a life. The rest of the season is Henry taking Elisabeth under his wing to take over as the next head of the family.
The movie: Liz I. 6 seasons and a movie baby! Elisabeth taking over for her father after his death (probably diabetes or a heart attack, dude was notoriously unhealthy) lot's of parallels to her actual life. Tie up those loose ends. See Catherine P. remarried finally with Jane's sister and happy, taking care of Eddie for the rest of his life. Touch back in with Anne and her career and Catherine A. and what she's been up to all these years blah blah happy ending they'll try to revive it in 10 years and it will be horrible.
If you actually read all of this you are AWESOME! I had a lot of fun writing it. I've been listening to a ton of Six: The Musical all about Henry's wives and this idea has been floating around in my head and just needed to get out somewhere!

skipping down sixteenth avenue
We woke up the next morning honestly fuggin AMPED because it was a full day at sea.  We had big plans to get some work done, explore the ship, day drink, revel in it all, etc.  But immediately we all felt so seasick that mid-meeting in Brooke’s room she just said “this isn’t happening. Let’s all go back to bed.” And we snorted lines of Dramamine and napped (essentially.)  We got an invitation that morning for dinner with the captain that night, which just so happened to be the ship’s formal night that we didn’t know existed.  Cue PANIC as I accused them all of trying to haze me by not telling me I needed to bring anything other than athleisure.  The nicest thing I brought with me was a floral jumpsuit so I tried my best to blend in but goddamn it these women were wearing like, sparkly evening gowns, strapless bodycon dresses, etc.   Couldn’t even go shopping anywhere since we were at sea all day.  Brooke says it was Nick’s fault, Nick and I secretly remember it was Brooke’s fault as she was the one who told us that Alaskan cruises don’t have formal nights…. Sigh. I’ve only just now started to get over it.  Combined with feeling like death all day and then having to be on good behavior for the very peculiar captain, things were dire.  The lack of formalwear also of course meant that I felt the need to get ahead of it to everyone I encountered the entire night.  “Just so you know I was told there wasn’t a formal night!!” **manic laughter drawing attention to myself** “I would never think this was appropriate for a formal night or dinner with the captain, we didn’t know! We’re here for work! It was a miscommunication!” **more manic laughter and essentially forcing people to say I look nice** “I dress way better at home, had I known I would have fit right in!! You can imagine.  I compensated by getting rip-roaring drunk and OD’ing on Dramamine which led me to a coma-like state I tried to Adderall-away the rest of the cruise.  Hate me cuz u ain’t me.
The captain was ssssssooo strange – pleasant, but just on a different level of awareness than most normal people.  Lived in his own little captain world.  Old and British and told stories that made no sense and weren’t really relevant. Overly polite but also we felt like he didn’t want to be there.  By the way, I saw captain multiple times a day and at EVERY meal.  I swear he’s just a figurehead who never drives the boat himself. We did a bridge tour later in the week and he made a point to roll on through and look like he was “captain-ing” at one point when we all know he just chills and makes his officers do it. Towards the end of the trip we were talking to him one day and asked how his day was, and he said he had to get up at 4 am to dock and was exhausted and slept all day afterwards.  First of all, 4 am isn’t that much earlier than a normal early wake-up time.  Second of all, docking start to finish only takes like 45 minutes MAX.  Third of all, it’s your job!!!!!!!
We finally pulled into our first port in Ketchikan on Thursday morning.  The boys each had a fun shore excursion to do (bear sanctuary, ziplining) but Brooke, Yolanda and I had a day of running from vendor to vendor to spend about 15 minutes each just learning what they offered and asking questions.  Yolanda used to travel in Alaska with Seabourn back in 2013, so she greeted every tour operator in every town as if they were her long-lost brother or sister and reunited after being away at war for six years. You’ll hear more about it as these blogs go on but lord she is the most dramatic person I have ever met and also not self-aware whatsoever but it’s fucking hysterical.  Today when we said goodbye I said, “honestly, Yolanda, I can’t remember a time before I knew you.” And that’s about how I can sum up our relationship.
The bopping around was not as fun because we didn’t actually participate in any of the activities, and it was pouring rain.  But all things considered, not as bad as I expected it would be.  We met two super-hot fishermen (each of whom had a baby with their wives in the last week smh where do I get one) and heard all about their different excursions.  They sounded dope but there was freshly caught fish all around us on the docks and their eyes stared at me during the whole spiel and I couldn’t focus.  Why are fish eyes SO CREEPY? After a few more stops around town, our local tour operator Kari drove us to the end of the island to George Inlet Lodge and met one of the owner/operators, CANDI, who gave me a real “mom in Justified /Aunt Lydia in Handmaid’s Tale / whatever her real name is who just won an Emmy” vibe, except less cold blooded murder-y. They showed us their boats and excursions and then fed us an authentic meal just like the members would get, which included Dungeness crab legs.  I told myself before the trip started that I’d HAVE to try and eat more seafood because a) it’s fresh AF in Alaska so this is the place b) my excuse of “but it’s too expensive at restaurants” can’t apply here #freeunlimitedfood and c) I should try to immerse myself in the culture. If Kitty ever reads this she’ll die, also Kitty you should never go to Alaska.  We’re going to keep a running tab on all the seafood, I tried, okay?!  First: the “dungie” crabs.  Learned how to crack them open and everything.  They were relatively tasty, but I still don’t get why people lose their shit over crab legs, especially because it’s soooooo much work for so little payout.  I’m more of a low investment, high reward type.
After the lodge we drove to the opposite end of the island and got on a boat to drive out to Hump Island (lol) Oyster Farm, where a 20-year-old kid named Sean showed us around his dad’s operation.  He was the epitome of what I imagine an Alaskan braaaaaaaah to be and he was cracking me up. All self-deprecating humor about how no 20-year-old should know as much about oysters as him and all he wants to do is chill with his friends in the summer, not tumble oysters 12 hours a day. There were tons of pots all around the little floating island and he explained it takes an oyster about 3 years to grow to maturity and be ready to be eaten/sold, so I asked him if the pots were organized by relative age so you know which ones are new and which need more time, etc.  He said, “honestly we’re just oyster farmers we’re not the brightest most organized guys in the world but that would make sense, wouldn’t it” but all with a sweet douchey little smile only a college kid could get away with.  The thing that struck me most was just how different “summer jobs” in Alaska are for kids than in say, DC.  They don’t work at fast food restaurants or for their dad’s law firm or at daycare blah blah blah, they work on boats or on oyster farms or fishing or logging or giving tours to cruise passengers.  Builds character! And calluses!  They fed us fresh oysters after that which I really didn’t want because I had an oyster one time and I thought it was gross, but again, had to.  And it tasted better than I remember probably because I was literally on the farm where it was grown, kinda like how beer tastes better at a brewery because it never has to travel.
Back on the ship that night, we ate at what is literally called The Restaurant.  The ship only has a few dining options – The Restaurant, which is pretty shmancy and requires a reservation (but not for us VIPs of course who had the same table reserved for us every night), the Colonnade (buffet-style, ate all of our breakfasts and lunches there) and the Grill, which is a VERY SHMANCY Thomas Keller restaurant that has cut-throat competition for reservations and apparently our members lose their minds over.  We ate there a few nights later and I accidentally got hammered on my new favorite drink, Old Cubans, and had to be essentially rolled out of there in front of the Super Hot Waiter I’m in Love With, Thomas from Belgium. Literally just conjured his face in my mind when typing this and felt an internal swoon.  I miss him so much.  ANYWAY we ate at the Restaurant each night, which had fixed menu options on the right hand side and a rotating left menu.  I tried to be ~adventurous but mostly ate a lot of steak.  Had a black truffle risotto one night and literally loved it so much asked for a second portion.  Going to the lake this weekend and stuffing myself in a bikini is going to be like, a three-person job. We had the same two servers each night – Anastasiia, a 25-year-old Russian girl who love/hated us and today tried to do a bike excursion after never having ridden a bike before and eventually gave up because she crashed too much (I said, “Anastasiia! You can’t just try and ride a bike and hope it goes well, you need someone to guide/teach you until you’re comfortable!” Smh) and Simba, a South African angel who had a crush on me and calmly put up with all of my Lion King jokes.  Listen, other than Super Hot Waiter Thomas, they all had a crush on me.  Maybe they found my complete lack of adherence to their dress code sexy in a “fuck the rules” kind of way?? (How is one supposed to dress for “elegant casual” nightly anyway…) Maybe it was how I insisted night over night that I was “one of them” and not a client because I was here for a site visit and begged them to let me hang out with them?  (The assistant Maitre’D Marius tried to pull so many strings to allow us to be invited to crew Bingo night but alas, we were rejected.) Or maybe it was because I was one of the only people on the ship under the age of 60 and I shamelessly chatted and flirted with everyone I saw, at every meal… It’s hard to say. Simba even publicly sang me a love song at the last night at dinner.
Slept that night and woke up to the most magical, mystical, ethereal scenery of the Misty Fjords surrounding us.  I’ll post a picture so you can truly understand how magical these were.  Pouring rain but gorgeous and foggy and tranquil. TO BE CONTINUED!

Dear Gus,
Today is my 37th birthday. What follows is the detailed account I posted to Facebook of how I spent the day, but I left out the part where after my meeting and before we started filming, I ducked into the conference room to see the Fayetteville engineers being introduced to the tinker kit the North Little Rock engineers opened up yesterday.
I wake up at the Courtyard Marriott in Fayetteville. It is dark. I reach for the bedside table and feel around for my phone, which lights up. My background image pictures Gus sitting in Liz’s lap. He looks older in the photo than he is in real life. Liz looks as beautiful as she is in real life. It’s 4:45am on the dot because that’s when Gus has been waking me up lately. It takes me a while to go back to sleep, but I think I finally crash at 5:30, and wake up to my alarm at 6:45. While I shower, I listen to The Cure Radio on my phone, which stops suddenly. I peek through the clear shower curtain to see that Liz is calling me. The music comes back when she hangs up. I dry off and call her back.
“Happy birthday!” she says. And then we talk about the sleep we got and didn’t get the night before. We talk about what Gus ate in the previous 24 hours. And while we talk I stare at myself in the mirror, trying to identify the differences in my body at 37 years old versus when I was in my 20s. I don’t remember my body from my 20s anymore. I try to convince myself I look exactly the same.
“Have a good day,” Liz says, “I love you.”
I get dressed and make my way downstairs to cash in my breakfast voucher for toast, bacon, fruit, and two eggs.
“How would you like your eggs cooked?” the woman behind the counter asks.
“Over-medium.” I used to ask for my eggs to be cooked over-easy, but it occurred to me last year that I have probably been ordering them that way out of habit for decades. I actually like my eggs cooked over-medium. The fascinating thing about this change in my egg order is that it hasn’t affected any change in the way my eggs are actually cooked. It turns out, most people in the kitchen don’t know how to make eggs over-medium. All of those egg orders never actually mattered, it seems. I was always going to get the same eggs, no matter the order.
I sit with Bryan Stafford and eat my breakfast while he drinks his coffee and we discuss an email we earlier that will likely mean we will soon head to Dallas to do what it is that we do. We work for a 100-year-old engineering firm that—among other things—pays us to make short videos. I write them, Bryan films them, and we direct them together. We’re a good team.
We drive over to the office and I make my rounds to say hello to the people I know and like in our Fayetteville office while Bryan unloads gear. I find an empty office and respond to emails. I run a quarterly conference call between the company’s 26 offices. Sometimes I worry that people are saying “Guy’s call is terrible. I dread it every quarter.” But I feel like if people are saying that, there is someone else close that will say, “At least he keeps it short.” On the call yesterday, though, I got worried the call would unravel when a lot of people wanted to spend time ribbing the guy in our Huntsville, Alabama office about the Clemson game. I am kind of proud of myself for steering the ship beyond that quickly.
I have another call at 10:45 about Bryan and I having to go to Dallas. We solidify our plans. After the call, Bryan and I don’t say anything to each other, and it occurs to me that we are both texting our respective wives about our impending absence.
“Liz isn’t going to like this,” I say.
“Yeah, my wife and I are sending our youngest to college and it looks like she’s going to get a little me-time in her first week with an empty nest.”
But in the end, our wives are very tolerant of our work's demands. They know who they married and how we operate.
“This is a really nice chair,” I say to Bryan. “I wish my chair in North Little Rock was this comfortable.” And then we stand up. We have a busy day.
While Bryan starts setting up for our afternoon video shoot, I take the elevator down to my truck. I need to dress our CEO up like a 15-year-old for the video. The night before, I picked him up a flat-billed Fayettechill hat, but I need to find him some kind of bright-colored jacket to complete his ensemble.
“Do you have any more of these in the back?” I ask a purple-haired girl at Hot Topic at the mall. “I need a medium, if you have it.” The jacket in question is covered in loud colors and Japanese logographs and appears to reference Dragonball Z. But when the girl comes back, she tells me they don’t have any more.
I find a store called The Geek Realms that looks like it will be gone in three weeks. Nothing is organized. “Hello,” a voice says from an unidentified place. I look around but don’t see anyone, so I simply respond loudly to a neverending rack of stickers in the middle of the store—“Hello.” I gravitate toward a clothing rack of hoodies. I find one that is an outer space print that says “I’m a dreamer” across the chest. I can’t decide if that one is better than the one that has a giant white lion’s face across the front. I buy them both.
I have 45 minutes to grab lunch before I’m due back to the office for another meeting. I want sushi. I go to Kobe, a Japanese place across the street from my hotel and bypass the line at the host stand to sit at the bar. I order the chirashi bowl and a water, and I try to order food to-go for Bryan and Laura, but the server says I can order it when I’m halfway finished with my meal. I am in a hurry and want to order it immediately so I don’t have to wait later, but I don’t insist. I don't want to be an asshole. I trust the server knows what she’s doing.
The chirashi is really good. I order Bryan the teriyaki chicken and Laura a chicken avocado salad. I pay my tab and finish my meal. The to-go orders aren’t ready yet. I have to wait. I am going to be late to my meeting with the three most powerful leaders at my place of employment. The server tells me the kitchen got slammed and so things are taking longer than normal. I make a mental note to insist that I order when I want to the next time I’m in this situation. If this were a major restaurant chain, I would start preparing my email to them.
I beat two of the three executives to my meeting, even though I'm a few minutes late. The meeting goes well, but it runs long and I worry our video shoot is going to run long. I worry we won’t be able to finish tonight and I’ll have to spend another night in Fayetteville. But we eventually start filming and it is fun to see the script I wrote come to life.
Everyone has to fight the urge to laugh on camera because we are doing something fun and funny. Our CEO is wearing the white lion hoodie. These are the days when I love my job.
We wrap up around 4:30pm. I sit down to my laptop and respond to emails while Bryan starts packing up gear. Our CEO usually leaves the costume items I buy for him, but after he changes clothes this time, he doubles back to grab the hat, the outer space shirt, and the white lion hoodie. It makes me laugh to think that he liked those clothes, that he might one day wear them in the future. Also, I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t get to keep that hoodie.
I say goodbye to Bryan, who will stay in Fayetteville another night to accompany his son to orientation at the university in the morning. I take the elevator down to my truck and head toward the interstate back to North Little Rock.
Liz calls. She has just picked up Gus from school. I can hear him in the background. She was worried I’d be late, but for the past month we’ve been sharing our locations with each other via our phones. She checked it and was relieved to see my little dot is on the road home. She asks if she should plan on me being home for dinner, but I tell her I’ll grab something on the way.
I end up at a place called Crosswoods just off the interstate in Clarksville. The restaurant’s website showcased bright photos and referenced the chef by name, but when I got there, it looked like a strip club from the outside. Inside, there are pool tables and two men at the bar, one of whom is wearing orange camouflage. I sit down at the bar beside the video crack machine and the puffy-faced 22-year-old dude behind the bar says, “Can I help you?” in a way that suggests he gained his hospitality industry training while pouring concrete for the new local motel.
Before I arrived, I planned to order a salad, but upon seeing the place, I feel like the "chef" is probably best suited to prepare meat and potatoes, so I order a steak with twice baked potatoes. For my second side, I ask the puffy-faced kid what he likes, to which he replies, “The green beans are pretty good,” so I go with that.
Duke and Wake Forest are on the television. The man in the camouflage hat asks me who my team is, and I tell him the Little Rock Trojans. The man said his dad had graduated from UALR, but he likes the Razorbacks. “Everybody does,” I say. The man lived in North Little Rock a long time ago, but then he moved to Pope County, and now he’s been in Johnson County for 22 or 23 years. He looks at the puffy-faced kid who is handing him another Busch can--unopened, strangely--and the man in camouflage says, “Long enough to want to leave, but too long to actually do it, you know. Nothing to do here.” I nod in some kind of false solidarity.
I pay my bill and walk out. No one says anything to me. I finish disc 10 of 13 of my audiobook of Watership Down just as I roll into the Shell station in Park Hill, a couple of miles from my house. It is just after 8pm and I can barely keep my eyes open. I go to bed before 9pm these days.
When I pull into the driveway, I turn the truck off and sit in silence for a few seconds. I am tired. I walk in the front door, my dog Suki meets me immediately and gyrates with excitement. The house is quiet, Liz has already put Gus to bed. She’s on the couch studying. I let Suki out the back door and kiss Liz. “Happy birthday,” she tells me again. I unpack my bag and brush my teeth.
“Are you going to bed?” Liz asks.
“I think so,” I say. And I walk to our bedroom, lie down in bed, make a couple of moves in the Open Face Chinese Poker game I play for a quarter a point against my cousin John and my friend Barrett, and I fall asleep quickly. This is who I am at 37 years old.

Love and Respect
Lessons from Love and Respect by Dr Emerson Eggerichs
The Crazy Cycle: Without love, she reacts without respect. Without respect, he reacts without love.
You can be right but wrong at the top of your voice.
The problem with life is that it’s so daily.
Each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband (Ephesians 5:33)
When a husband feels disrespected, he has a natural tendency to react in ways that feel unloving to his wife. When a wife feels unloved, she has a natural tendency to react in ways that feel disrespectful to her husband.
The wife must be willing to treat her husband respectfully without conditions.
Decide that your wife does not intend to be disrespectful, and that your husband does not intend to be unloving.
The wife needs love; she is not trying to be disrespectful. The husband needs respect; he is not trying to be unloving. Once you grasp this basic principle – that the “issue” is not the real issue at all – you are on your way to cracking the communication code.
God designed the woman to love. He’s not going to command her to agape her husband when He created her to do that in the first place. A young wife is created to agape her husband and children. Ultimately, she will never stop unconditionally loving them. But in the daily wear and tear of life, she is in danger of becoming discouraged – so discouraged that she may lack phileo. A kind of impatient unfriendliness can come over her. She may scold and sigh way too much. After all, there is always something or someone who needs correcting. She cares deeply. Her motives are filled with agape, but her methods lack phileo.
She criticizes out of love, but he “hears” only disrespect.
Learn how to decode each other’s messages. Whenever a wife is complaining, criticizing or crying, she is sending her encoding message: “I want your love!” and whenever a husband is speaking harshly or sometimes not speaking at all, he is sending his encoded message: “I want your respect.”
1 Peter 3:1-2. Husbands who are “disobedient to the word… may be won… by… respectful behavior”. A simple application is that a wife is to display a respectful facial expression and tone when he fails to be the man she wants. She can give her husband unconditional respect in tone and expression while confronting his unloving behavior and without endorsing his unloving reactions.
The way to full love a husband is to respect him in ways that are meaningful to him.
She wants to be cherished as a princess, not revered as a queen. She longs to be first in importance to him. The husband is to be considered “first among equals”. He is her equal, but he is called upon to be the first to provide, to protect – and even to die if necessary. The husband with goodwill and good sense knows that it isn’t his right, but it is his responsibility. She, on the other hand, possesses something within that thirsts to be valued as “first in importance”. When he honors her as first in importance and she respects him as first among equals, their marriage works.
Husbands don’t have to “earn respect” any more than wives don’t have to “earn love”.
As women fear being unloved, men fear being disrespected (held in contempt).
When a wife scolds her husband, she’s only trying to help correct things, to keep things on an even keel. And there is no doubt at times men need this kind of help. But when a man begins to feel that what his wife is saying reduces him to a child being scolded, there can be trouble. He doesn’t necessarily see his wife’s heart; he only hears her words, which are saying that she is looking down on him.
“What if your son grew up and married someone like you?”
Constantly ask yourself, “Is what I’m about to say or do going to come across as respectful or disrespectful?” This prevents a wife from misrepresenting her heart by coming across too negatively.
We easily see what is done to us before we see what we are doing to our mate.
So who should make the first move? The one who sees himself or herself as the most mature. You know if your spouse acted first, you would respond positively. Knowing that, do you really believe that your spouse doesn’t have enough goodwill to react lovingly or respectfully if you make the first move? When you touch your spouse’s deepest need, something good almost always happens. The key to energizing your spouse is meeting your spouse’s heartfelt desire.
Obeying God’s Word does not make a wife a powerless hypocrite. Actually, it makes her a woman who loves and reverences God. Showing respectful behavior when we don’t “feel respectful” is evidence of maturity, not hypocrisy.
Have a firm commitment to get to the Love and Respect sentences before going to bed. “Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger” (Ephesians 4:26). The struggle is in humbling yourself, authentically making these two brief statements, and then letting them lead to an honest discussion.
It is easier to forgive when you let go of the belief that your spouse intended evil. “Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you” (Colossians 3:13).
In the eyes of God, wife’s disrespect is equal to husband’s lack of love. She does not feel she has a right to judge too severely. Forgiveness comes when we see our own unrighteousness. How can we refuse to forgive an offense when we, too, have offended? “Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged… Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?” (Matthew 7:1-3). Forgiving is the direct opposite of judging. Nothing is easier than judging, nothing is harder than forgiving, and nothing can reap more blessings.
Ask the Lord to change the look on her face and the feelings she has.
Energizing Cycle: His love motivates her respect; Her respect motivates his love.
The first year of marriage is fundamental. It is important to set the tone for the closeness of the relationship, before the wear and tear of life takes the husband away for periods of time, before they face other problems.
Wives are expressive-responsive, while husbands are compartmentalized. Think of this difference as two types of electrical circuits. On one circuit there are three thousand lights, and the circuit is so designed that if one light gets smashed, the whole string goes our. On the other circuit there are three thousand lights, and it is designed so that if you smash two thousand of these lights, the other thousand will still work.
The best marriage relationships have some conflict. It’s almost as if you need a degree of conflict to keep the passion there. The sequence seems to have the couple experience a misunderstanding; they have a minor argument, a bump of some kind. But as they work through this conflict, they deepen their understanding of each other and value and appreciate one another all the more as they reconcile the conflict. Don't refuse to make peace by running from conflict with your spouse. Conflict is not a sign you have a bad marriage.
“The husband must fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his won body, but his wife does” (1 Corinthians 7:3-4). Because you have equal but differing needs, you will experience conflict. But you can work this out as partners. The husband should not act independently from his wife, and the wife should not act independently from her husband. A husband and wife should and can act together.
It is as if God said, “I’m going to allow for tension to exist in your marriage. I intend for you to work this our, because as you work out your tensions, your relationship is going to deepen and then deepen some more, and you’re going to continue to go through life working it out -  back and forth, back and forth.”
Be ready with reasons that you respect him. Look at his desires and not his performances. “The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41) and “Indeed, there is not a righteous man [or woman] on earth who continuously does good and who never sins” (Ecclesiastes 7:20).
CHAIRS
Conquest – Appreciate his desire to work and achieve
Conquest – the natural inborn desire of the man to go out and “conquer” the challenges of his world – to work and achieve. As a wife, if you can start to understand how important your husband’s work is to him, you will take a giant step toward communicating respect and honor, two things that he values even more than your love.
Your first job is to be sure that you support his efforts for conquest – to get out there to work and achieve. Don’t dishonor or subtly criticize his work “in the field”.
Hierarchy – Appreciate his desire to protect and provide
The husband is given the awesome responsibility to love his wife just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her. That is why the good-willed husband who understands this passage sees it as his duty to protect his wife. At the same time, the wife is called upon to place herself under that protection. This is the biblical definition of hierarchy. It is not male superiority for the sake of putting down the female. It is the male’s responsibility to place himself over the female and protect her.
Men are more vulnerable to criticism when it is related to “headship” issues.
Authority – Appreciate his desire to serve and to lead
Go on record with your husband that you see him as having 51% of the responsibility and therefore, 51% of the authority.
Praise his good decisions. Be gracious if he makes a bad decision. Disagree with him only in private and honor his authority in front of the kids.
Insight – His desire to analyze and counsel
The husband wants the same kind of respect at home that he receives at work.
The bottom line to appreciating a man’s desire to analyze and counsel is to realize he does have insight and to beware of any self-righteousness that might undermine his insight. Admit that you also have sins, issues, and weaknesses (in areas that he has strengths) and that you don’t have perfect judgment in every case. You counsel him respectfully when you differ with his ideas (you can be right but wrong at the top of your voice).
Relationship – Appreciate his desire for shoulder-to-shoulder friendship
Respond to his invitation to engage in recreational activities together or you come along to watch him (you don’t have to go every time, but just now and then will energize him more than you realize). Encourage him to spend time alone, which energizes him to reconnect with you later.
Sexuality – Appreciate his desire for sexual intimacy
Just as he should minister to your spirit to have access to your body, so, too, you should minister to his body if you want to gain access to his spirit. Sex is symbolic of his deeper need – respect.
There are two aspects to understand your husband sexually. First, realize that his sexuality is much different from yours. The second aspect of being able to appreciate your husband’s sexual desire for you is that he needs sexual release just as you need emotional release (intimacy).
“Why would you deprive him of something that takes such a short amount of time and makes him soooo happy?!”
How does a husband spell love to his wife? COUPLE
Closeness – Am I always remembering to move toward her and accept her need to talk and connect with me to be reassured of my love?
Openness – Do I share my thoughts with her, and am I sure I’m not resisting her efforts to draw me out?
Understanding  - Am I careful not to try to “fix” her every time she talks about one of her concerns or problems? Am I remembering that she is an integrated personality and whatever happens affects all of her, especially her emotions?
Peacemaking – Am I always willing to resolve issues, and am I careful to never say, “let’s just drop it and move on”?
Loyalty – Do I constantly look for ways to tell her that I will be loyal to her forever – that she’s the one love of my life, the only woman for me?
Esteem – Do I always let her know that I treasure her and put highest value on her as a person? Do I let her know that what she does and thinks are important to me? Does she know I couldn’t possibly do without her?
How does a wife spell respect for her husband?
Conquest – Am I always standing behind him and letting him know I support him in his work and endeavors in his field?
Hierarchy – Do I let him know I respect and appreciate his desire to protect and provide for me and the family? What have I said recently to communicate this?
Authority – Have I gone on record that, because he has the primary responsibility for me (even to die for me), I recognize him as having the primary authority? Do I let him be the leader? How have I helped in that regard recently?
Insight – Do I trust is ability to analyze things and offer solutions and not just depend on my “intuition”?
Relationship – Do I spend shoulder-to-shoulder time with him whenever I can? Do I let him know that I am his friend as well as his lover?
Sexuality – Do I honor his need for sexual release even when I don’t feel like it?
Eve had paradise but wanted more. In a fallen world, you cannot always have “more”. You can’t grasp the Holy Grail of perfection, which is always beyond your reach. But you can embrace Love and Respect, which will always provide more than enough to energize your marriage.
Rewarded Cycle: His love blesses regardless of her respect; Her respect blesses regardless of his love.
A husband’s unconditional love mirrors Christ’s love for the church and a wife’s unconditional respect is like the church’s reverence for Christ.
Whatever we do as to the lord, we will receive back from the Lord. In marriage, everything you do counts, even if your spouse ignores you! If we take our eyes off Christ (or never put our eyes on Christ in the first place), we are building on sand, and when the storms come we can be swept away.
“Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” (Matthew 25:21). “Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does” (Ephesians 6:7-8).
Make a concerted effort to speak respectfully, rather than just going with emotions.
Whatever I do for my spouse, I do it to Christ as well. In the ultimate sense, your marriage has nothing to do with your spouse. It has everything to do with your relationship to Jesus Christ.
Yes, you will fail to perfectly love and respect, but that doesn’t mean that you don’t love Christ. In fact, your love for Christ is what gets you started again. You practice love or respect because beyond your spouse you see Jesus Christ and you envision a moment when you will be standing before Him at the final judgment, realizing that your marriage was really a tool and a test to deepen and demonstrate your love and your reverence for your Lord.
Marriage is a test of how you unconditionally love and respect your spouse as you obey, honor and please the Lord. Primarily, you don’t practice love and respect to meet your needs in your marriage, as important as these are. Your first goal is to obey and please Christ.
My response to my spouse is my responsibility. Your spouse doesn’t cause you to be the way you are, he/she only reveals the way you are.
No matter how depressing or irritating my spouse might be, my response is my responsibility.
Think of a speck of sand. If the sand gets in the human eye, it causes irritation, then infection, and if not cared for, eventually loss of vision. But put that speck of sand in an oyster. It causes irritation, then secretion, and eventually the oyster forms a pearl. Was the sand the primary cause of the results in the eye? Was the sand the primary cause of the results in the oyster? No. If it were, the results would be the same. The sand was an agent that revealed the inner properties of the eye and of the oyster. In a real sense, when life with your spouse causes irritation, you can let it develop into an infection or you can allow it to become a pearl.
You can experience disappointment, but it is your choice to disrespect or be unloving. I can experience hurt, but it is my choice to hate.
“Live as free men… Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood” (1 Peter 2:16-17). First, the phrase “live as free men” refers to the same inner freedom. In any setting, you can experience inner freedom independent of your circumstances. Second, we see the evidence that we are inwardly free when we can honor and love others.
I didn’t have to respect him based on his behavior but on who he is as a man, made in the image of God.
As you learn the truth and seek to act upon it with unconditional respect or unconditional love, realize that you’re leaving a legacy. Parents want their children to love and respect them, but if they aren’t showing love and respect to each other, what kind of legacy are they leaving behind? A husband provides a good example for his children when he unconditionally loves their mother. To walk in the truth means to order your life by the Word of God. If we want our children to walk in the truth, we must live that same truth before them.
Change prayers from “bless me and change him” to “change me and bless him”.
When we know that we are full and complete in Christ, and our identities are not given to use by our husbands, it is so much easier to Love and Respect.
Your marriage is a test of your devotion to Christ. He tests you to show you that you can do this, and when you do, your inner freedom will increase.
The real purpose behind showing love and respect to one another is to glorify God and to obey what He teaches in His word.
Oneness is undermined, not through daily problems, but when he has an unloving attitude and she has a disrespectful attitude.
“You do not have because you do not ask” (James 4:2). It is talking about asking for power to cope with life’s real problems. What we should be praying is, “God, here is what is on Your heart. Please fulfill your desires in me.”
Never say, “you are unloving.” Instead, say, “That felt unloving. Did I come across as disrespectful?” If he says yes, say, “I’m sorry for being disrespectful. Will you forgive me? How can I come across more respectfully?”
Disrespect never motivates love, and lack of love never motivates respect.
Have confidence in God’s Word. Quietness shouts to a husband. A gentle spirit will bring out the gentleman in him. Unemotional and positive appeals will have their effect on any good-willed man.
One way to look at it is that in family matters, you are the hare and he is the turtle. You can tear down the track and leave him in the dust, but that will not make you win the race. Your respect will bring him out of his shell and motivate his movements. His movements will be much slower than you prefer, but it will do you little good to run circles around him, tapping on his shell with your stout stick of judgment. Be patient and make the following your motto: “If I can’t say anything respectful, I won’t say anything at all.”

TL;DR Be Here Now
Envision with me a scenario:
Joe Blow American 20 something’s alarm goes off on his phone on a Tuesday morning. Rolls over and shuts it off. Notices a couple of garbage emails from job boards came through his Gmail, an “in case you missed it” Twitter notification, a couple of “so and so posted to their stories” Instagram notifications, and an “events around you” Facebook notification. Not to mention the several stories on Snapchat that have been posted from the night prior. Mr. Blow goes through and checks these notifications, scrolls through each application to make sure no relevant/funny/seemingly important pieces of information are missed before getting out of bed.
35 minutes has elapsed. “Fuck.”
Hits the shower, throws on a pair of slacks and a nice button down, and heads to work. Along the way, he listens to that new/hilarious/intriguing podcast everyone is talking about. He didn’t download the most recent episode and can’t on the drive because the service sucks on his commute in addition to the battery on his seemingly obsolete iPhone 7 Plus hardly makes it to noon anymore. So he’s stuck listening to an episode of a less popular podcast which won’t be talked about during and after work. Also, he makes sure to tune in to the sports radio station to see if anything pertinent has happened with one of the Big 4 pro sports teams or 5 local collegiate teams in the past 12 hours.
At work, Mr. Blow spends the morning getting coffee, checking emails that he was CC’d on which are of zero practical relevance to him, sending funny Snapchats to the group he’s in with his undergrad buddies, and now listening to that podcast he couldn’t earlier.
Lunch is spent with a burrito in one hand while the other hand scrolls through sports Twitter to see what’s been going on in the two hours since he last checked.
The afternoon drags a bit since he has a burrito baby, but he manages to send off a couple of relevant emails to his three bosses to ensure that they know he did some work today. Makes plans with a couple of friends from work who play in the same Fantasy Football/Baseball/Basketball League to hit the bar after work to check out the game.
Hits the bar for a few drinks and some laughs with the fellas. Splits a nacho appetizer with the people he’s with. Checks on the fantasy app to make sure his team his playing well. They aren’t so he yells “shit,” and proceeds to hold the screen up to his friends to show them how poorly the fictional team he owns is doing. Looks down at his shoes. They’re scuffed up. “How am I ever going to meet a woman if she knew I wore such shitty ass shoes?” The game ends and it’s about 10, so he heads home. Pops on Netflix to continue watching the newest/popular Netflix series everyone is talking about this week. Plugs in his phone, sets his alarm, passes out.
And scene.
While this description is along the lines of things I have seen and personally experienced, I am confident elements of what was shown here ring true in some of your lives, too. If pieces of this seemed to mirror aspects of your life, how did it make you feel to see them in words like this?
Now, there’s nothing wrong with our hero Mr. Blow, and there’s nothing wrong with a life like this. He’s not doing anything wrong. He’s not living immorally (whatever that really means) or purposely harming others. He’s just living in a world that was crafted for him, one that he likely had no part in consciously creating. We are trained to do and like the things that we’re “supposed” to do and like instead of the things we want to do or want to like. I have talked to many of my friends who are married who feel like having a kid is the next thing they are “supposed to do.” As if the game of Life became real like Jumanji and they are nearing the part where they either get a pink or blue peg person to ride along in the back seat.
BUT. Here’s the thing:
In our American society, we have become obsessed with appearing happy, healthy, and successful. Obsessed with status and appearance. Obsessed with likes and retweets. Obsessed with comments. And the great irony of it all is that for as “individualistic” of a culture we think we live in, we are all so worried about being perceived as unpopular or uncool or as a social media social pariah. We want to know that we are both materially successful and well-liked in both the literal and social media sense. And instead of being satisfied and content with the cool things that happen to us along the way, we suffer because we are worried if it aligns with what we’re supposed to be doing or with what we think people think that we ought to be doing.
AND THEN:
We scroll through our social media feeds, looking at how happy and successful and cool all of our friends seem. We see our friends getting wives, and dogs, and kids, and promotions, and doing crafty things, and posting these inspirational quotes. And we think, “that person has it together...why can’t I be cool and happy and successful like them? I don’t get nearly as many likes and comments as them...” In our quest to appear happy and at peace, we have become more depressed than ever. What a great tragedy that in a time when our quality of life has never been better thanks to advances in technology and medicine, that our health and happiness in so many ways has never been worse. And all along the way, we are completely missing out on the world and life happening around us because we are addicted to and obsessed with what’s happening on Instagram.
And I’m not writing this as some person who has transcended this way of thinking and behaving. Because I haven’t and I am still working. I’m simply shedding light on insights I’ve had which have helped alleviate suffering in my own life.
So what is the point of all of this? It’s to make us think about two things:
First, zoom back. Way way way back. We are floating through some infinitely large space on a infinitesimally small speck in some backwoods corner of a galaxy that we don’t completely understand, and we think if we don’t get married by the time we’ve hit 30 that we’re worthless failures. Or if people notice our cracked iPhone screens that we think they’ll think we’re clumsy and should have bought the insurance. So in this vastness, we suffer over the entirely inconsequential for no other reason than we think we should. Succinctly, so many things we give such high importance to absolutely could not matter less.
Second, and related to point one, on this time on this small speck in the backwoods of the Universe, we spend our days not here. We are in our past, mourning the Might Have Beens. Or, we are in our future, carefully analyzing and reanalyzing all of the Might Be’s. But life isn’t in the past nor is it in the future. It can only be lived now. We can’t change what happened. Nor can we deterministically model even the next 12 hours of our lives. So why spend our time in places where life is not? Life is only now. It’s not in our screens. It’s not in our expectations about people’s possible expectations of us. It’s not in what our parents want us to do. It’s not in what we think society wants us to be as a man or woman. It’s here. Now. That’s it. At the end of our days, we will not be sad we didn’t spend more time anxious about what people thought of us. We will wish we had more time to be present for the people and experiences we loved most.
I’ve been repeating this over and over lately and for those of you who follow me know that I have been saying it a lot, but all of these words distill down to this:
BE HERE NOW. Be present for your life right now. This is the way to liberation, and true, lasting, sustained peace, love, and happiness. It comes from presence. It’s the only way.
This isn’t a call for you to live any particular way, except that which brings you the most joy and spreads the most love. This is authenticity. And this is being present. For me, I have spent a lot of time being inauthentic because I thought that person would be more liked, more accepted. And it caused me to not be present, and consequently, I suffered great mental anguish completely unnecessarily. Again, I’m not some realized being, but I have found great peace in practicing and really emphasizing being here. Now.
It is a practice. And that’s the beauty and grace of such things. That we can practice without judgment. If we feel ourselves becoming anxious due to lack of presence, we can be cognizant of it, and even honor it for trying to help us. But return to presence. This inner work is the way. Not a ton of followers, not following your parents’ wishes for your career or spouse or whatever. It’s presence. That’s all that truly exists. Right. Now.
Namaste.
