How can this even END at this point??
Like okay, obviously, we all know how it’s going to end. There’s gonna be a victory for the heroes, it’s a given. BUT HOW? They could just wipe each other out, Deku could free Tomura from AFO and then give him the patented redemption arc vibe. Or they could fight and AFO will die and Tomura will fade into the night as a fucking evil legend.
Or maybe none of that will happen…
But what about everyone we see? How can this actually end for them? The country is in literal shambles and it’s evening affecting the World and the balance of Quirks and Heroes and Villains and MORALS. With all the chaos and the revelations and the Betrayals. How can anyone be expected to recover from this shit? Like how can these kids even think about going on to complete two more years of HIGH SCHOOL? Will they even all survive? Will they even still want to be heroes in the aftermath? Because it’s easy to save the world when you’re already involved, but when the dust settles, then what?. I can’t see all of them being Okay enough to just go back to Normal hero in training life.
And this is a RANT, but god what about Bakugo and Deku? Like how can it even end for them? They haven’t even had time to become friends or rivals or whatever, because they’re literally on the verge of collapsing into each other and being overtaken by everything around them. And just to be a bit Shippy but fucking hell, there’s soulful poems and timeless classics that write the kind of romantic tragedy that these two are constantly going through. Whether intentional or not, it’s quite literally being written as a doomed love story because they’re both always fighting and hurting and dying and when they finally get to change, when they finally get to acknowledge their past and their truth-the world does it’s fucking best to tear them into pieces before they can mend what’s already broken.
Dude…this is an ANIME AND MANGA, I FEEL LIKE IM TALKING ABOUT SOME EPIC TALE OF UNPARALLELED ANGST AND ROMANCE. Like Jesus fucking Christ how can this get so deep so fast? Is it intentional? Or is it so open that we make it seem this deep and soul destroying?

you keep putting these tokusatsu shows on my dash for months and I have less than zero context what they're about. what's the cliffnotes version to get me interested in whatever these odd looking robots or perhaps creatures are doing?
Alright I'll try my best but it might get long.
To me, the most appealing thing about them is that the suits are very much suits, they often try to use practical effects where they can and there's a lot of neat choreographed fights. There's also often sci-fi elements (which I'm a fan of). Each season of each show seems to be made with love and passion for the genre* too and I've read/seen a few interviews which support this. There's also some very talented actors and it's amazing to watch them play pretend the colorful plastic weapons are real and can hurt you (they really sell it to you if you can suspend your disbelief a little and have some fun).
*edited - I wrote labor of love but forgot it is a specific thing and might not apply very well here?
Anyway. I'll give you the basics. The three big tokusatsu shows you may often see around are: Kamen Rider and Super Sentai (both from Toei) and Ultraman (from Tsuburaya).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Screenshots from: Kamen Rider OOO (2010), Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger (2021) and Ultraman Blazar (2023)
There's others! like Dogengers (screenshot below) - but I'll try to focus on those three.
Tumblr media
In general these shows are aimed at young audiences so you have to watch with that in mind. Also, like any superhero show, they will want to sell you merch (figures, toys, plushies, etc).
Another important thing to know is that the seasons of these shows are usually self contained, and each have their own theme, so you can pick any season that catches your eye to check out with no previous knowledge. There are crossovers events (movies and especials) and anniversary seasons which will explore and/or showcase previous content too! I personally really enjoyed Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger (2021) which is a 45th Anniversary Sentai season and I had watched only two other sentais before it.
Now, some differences! so you can tell the shows apart and also know what you will potentially have in store if you decide to watch any. I'll put a read more because this is getting long 👍
Kamen Rider and Super Sentai air all year long, for this reason, seasons usually have 45-50 episodes. All the Ultraman shows I've watched have 25 episodes per season. Meanwhile Dogengers has kept a 12 episodes per season formula so far. Spin offs, specials and reboots have no defined number of episodes (to my knowledge).
I feel like I should mention that (especially in the case of 45-50 episodes shows) the episodes might feel a bit off sometimes? Be aware there's often release schedules with toylines involved* From what I've noticed this usually happens past the mid-season point the closer you get to finale territory. My guess is that, generally at that point, the writing team (or writer) was trying to do things they forgot to properly set up before, tie loose ends and/or finish arcs quickly. *Sometimes other things affect production, like COVID or an actor suddenly not being able to continue with their role.
All shows value The Power Of Love and Friendship and usually feature a team of heroes (or allies) fighting against an enemy faction. There's also, almost always, some sort of transformation device involved and in all these shows the heroes must collect some season-themed item to get power ups. The key difference between each show will be how they decide to play with these things.
Super Sentai is what Power Rangers is based on. If that tells you nothing: there's a team of heroes ("rangers"), color coded suits that are generally not too complex in design and one giant mech vs. giant monster fight per episode (on average). I've not seen too much Sentai so that's all I got for you.
Kamen Rider gives its heroes more complex suit designs and (usually) multiple forms (ascending in strength/skill). Kamen Rider's signature elements are probably: the drivers (belts), the henshins (transformation scenes) and the fact that they often have motorbikes (they gotta ride something).
Ultraman has more of a shared universe between seasons situation going on than the previous two so there's recurring lore. I won't explain that lore to keep this as short as possible. Either there's a host-alien situation (to varying degrees) or the protagonist has the ability to transform. In this show there's always an almost guaranteed Titular Ultraman vs. giant monster fight per episode.
More visuals that might help you tell them apart:

Well now that Doctor Who 2005-2022 is officially over let's uh rank the seasons
Nine
Eight
Four
Five
Ten
Two
Eleven: I liked this one a lot when it first aired! Pity they ditched everything I liked about it for the next season
One: Nine rules but revisiting it, they really hadn't figured out the tone just yet
Seven: the Clara half is much better than the Amy/Rory half
Six
Thirteen: I would rank this higher but for how baffling Sea Devils is. We still don't know what happened to make the editing that bizarre. Dan is great btw
Three: it's not just for the finale, or how they treated Martha's arc. But also bc the middle of this season is the most aggressively mid the new show's ever been. Blink and Human Nature distract from how much this series feels like it's on autopilot
Uh I guess if I ranked the Ten specials they'd be here. The Waters of Mars is amazing but Planet of the Dead is utterly forgettable and The End of Time is a mess, and not the fun kind. I wrote this post and didn't realize until I was about to hit post that I forgot The Next Doctor exists
Twelve: *sighs* Oh Jodie. You deserved much better writers

[Project] (KH)Re:born!!!
I've been wanting to do a pinned post talking/rambling about my projects, so I'll do it now while I've still got some free time!
Anyway, for various reasons including wanting to keep it simple (for goldfish brain reasons), @amiahoshi and I decided to call this project "Katekyo Hitman Re:born!!!". We call it either Re:born!!! or KHRe for short. I also tried editing a title logo out of it some time ago (inspired from the og logo) for whenever it will be necessary!
Tumblr media
Actually, I've just been tagging posts under this project under #khre (since mid-2023) because when I type #khr, I'll immediately remember to also type #khre. Anyway, more info below! (Ein from the future: it will be long)
Note: For any typos/grammatical mistakes, sorry not sorry this is just me rambling, so no beta we die like Tsuna did every time Reborn shoots him in Daily Life Arc.
TLDR: This project has become like my creative sandbox playground. The KHR brainrot is still going VERY STRONG, and has been for the past two years. I can't believe I didn't discover this series earlier. I am so normal about KHR.
It's also inspired from T//oky//o Gh//oul's title, where it had "T//G:re". And it really just emphasizes the "Re" on "Reborn", meaning "again, do over".
In KHR, besides being named after our fave baby hitman Reborn, this concept also connects to a lot of the themes in the show, especially with Tsuna and his Dying Will Mode. Then there's also the whole Vongola 10th generation, who seem like the reincarnation or the "second coming" of the Vongola 1st generation. I'm sure there are others I haven't noticed yet or just forgot to mention here!
Anyway, KHRe is sort of a similar universe to canon, but not exactly the same. There will be additional characters, which are mostly our OCs from the Oniyanagi yakuza family for now, then there will also be modifications/additions to the story/lore as well (e.g. certain arcs/chapters will be rearranged, certain events will happen earlier). Tsuna retains his protagonist role in KHRe as well (im so fond of him), but he will also be joined in this role by the twin bosses from Oniyanagi, Kana and Kurumi.
Kana and Kurumi's addition here really puts the emphasis on the "Re", because their individual overarching stories provide more interpretations to the word itself "Reborn", which adds onto Tsuna's.
The tldr of the premise so far is that Oniyanagi and Vongola are business partners, so shortly after Tsuna met Reborn and Gokudera, the twins and Yui (their right-hand man) transferred to Namimori. This is so that they can help each other to grow and with their respective training as well to become future bosses of their Family (Tsuna doesn't want to become one of course! lol).
Along with Kana & Kurumi, three of their guardians (incldg Yui) tagged along with their move to Namimori, while two of them remained in their previous city of residence (Tokyo). In their guardian line-up, they currently have an empty seat for the Sun Guardian and they're still actively looking for the one fit for it. Perhaps they'll find them in Namimori? (Spoilers: Yes, they will. Their full line-up is here.)
So far, the major ambitious projects I have under this one are as follows:
Tumblr media
Oniyanagi Wiki: This is a wiki site I made in Miraheze. I'll put it in public mode once I finish cleaning up Kurumi's character profile. We plan on compiling all character/group/story infos here for KHRe, which will also include AUs and alternate timelines. If there will be a lot of story divergence with certain canon characters, we'll also make a page for them there too (from the top of my head, so far, it will be Tsuna, Hibari, Enma, Kyoko & Haru). This is the project I've made most progress on so far, I learned a fair amount about making wiki pages hahaha.
KHRe Webcomic: A webcomic that features KHRe's story. Just like canon, it starts with Daily Life Arc. Right now, I'm just thinking of drawing intro chapters for Kurumi, Yui and then Kana for it. But I'm also tempted to just go full-fledged webcomic retelling of majority of KHRe lol like just for deadass committing to the bit. I just really think it will help me improve my art a lot because it will force me to draw other stuff I haven't tried to seriously learn how to draw before (like have you seen the improvement in TOG Webtoon's art style??! Damn...I want that too.) KHRe also has stories that continue past KHR's final arc. I want that high school, TYL and alternate future timeline content too y'know! I think I want to finish drawing at least one chapter by Q4 2024, I'll have a lot of time to focus on this after my exam on June.
Into the Looking Glass: This is a Horror RPGMaker game in the planning stage and it features a prequel story for Kurumi's childhood (around 8-9 years old). Long story short, it does follow the classic formula of a small kid exploring a scary/creepy place by themselves. Don't worry, she will also have a companion or two here! (So...just like Ib.) The title is very much still subject to change, but I referenced Alice in Wonderland for it. Because it's Baby Kurumi (Alice) stumbling in an otherworldly place (Wonderland) and the events that take place moving forward changes her life. I already have a plot and ending(s) in mind, just need to write a script. This will take a very long time to complete, but I wanna finish it eventually because I'm also a big fan of Horror RPGMaker games and I've always wanted to make one (this is my chance! I alr have a story! Just need to write and execute it!). Here's a very old concept art of the baby! I'll draw a new updated one when I get the time (the only biggest change here will probably just be the eye pupils, which really isn't much).
Tumblr media
KHRe Test Game (no title yet): Less ambitious than previous three. This will be a very short RPGMaker Game with Tsuna as MC. This is just me testing and learning the features of RPGMaker before I go do more work for Into the Looking Glass. The game is just about Tsuna being invited to the Ninomiya Estate by Kurumi and he has a very "fun" time there 😂👍✨ (just like a normal Daily Life Arc episode~). It won't be horror, but maybe for Tsuna it will be 😀 So far, I managed to make a map for Tsuna's room (and some other parts of the Sawada Residence) for the intro scene hehe
Tumblr media
As for other projects that are less ambitious and more doable in a shorter time, I do have MV Projects for KHRe plus a few shorts (like this one) I plan on drawing them in. I listed my priorities here (along with the major projects) and will try to update when I can (ideally, at least monthly...but definitely not for June 💀).
That's all for now! THANK YOU FOR COMING TO MY TED TALK!! (seriously...because this turned out so much longer than I thought it would be 🗿...I will now proceed to hide under the rock again).
Any questions are always welcome and very very appreciated! 👀✨I really just love talking about this series, OCs (mine and others') and my projects!

You look good
Santiago “Pope” Garcia x fem!reader
Summary: you and Santi have been dancing around This Thing between you for some time now. Is a costume party the place to make it happen? Even if Santi hates costume parties?
Genre: Some silliness, some steam, some fluff.
Rating: M (18+ only, minors DNI!)
A/n: this is a heinously late Halloween blurb I forgot in my drafts, pls forgive 🥹
Warnings: alcohol/party, teasing poor Santi, flirting and suggestive language, use of “bad girl”, mild dim/sub dynamic (sorta), making out.

“You didn’t even dress-up, loser?” Benny shouts across the now cramped space of your living room. Apparently even your prime real estate feels tiny with three burly guys and one Short King plus you in there.
“I didn’t have time,” Santiago yells back over the rendition of Red Right Hand Frankie is currently blasting through your Bluetooth speakers.
Benny takes a generous swig of his beer, which is cut short by an eruption of a hyena-like laugh from his mouth. “Bull shit. Look at you!”
Watching the exchange from a slight distance as you stir up the bowl of punch, you simply have to laugh. How many years has it been now, and he’s still so damn susceptible to being wound up?
It’s too easy.
Santi has an uncanny ability to look inordinately tense at times. This mother fucker is cool as a cat in the field, and yet when things cut loose sometimes he can be just a little… stiff.
Case in point - here he is, perching his generous ass right on the edge of your couch, looking all serious, despite being surrounded by Benny the zombie boxer, Frankie dressed as Woody from Toy Story, and Will as… whatever the hell Will is.
“Come on,” Benny continues, as Santiago becomes increasingly tetchy. “Like you didn’t spend two hours getting ready?”
“I don’t need that long to look good, dipshit.”
“You do look nice, Pope,” you compliment as you wander over, dishing out fresh glasses of punch. He does. Looks so good it makes your loins ache. Has you entertaining all sorts of fantasies you know will likely come to nothing.
“Thanks,” he responds bashfully, blinking up at you from beneath those impossibly long lashes of his.
“But, we were all supposed to be something.”
There he goes again, instantly on the defensive, his eyebrow arcing - all perturbed, like. “Why are you picking on me? What in the hell is Ironhead supposed to be?”
“Well… Will has a hat,” you defend, your nose crinkling since, in honesty, you’re not exactly sure. He has a point. Will looks at the floor and shakes his head, clearly disappointed that none of you dum dums get his niche references.
“You gotta dress up, pendejo,” Frankie slurs, mid-boogie.
“Is he drunk already?” Benny asks behind his hand as Frankie continues obliviously throwing shapes as the track skips on to Monster Mash. Looks like the infamous Five Drink Frankie is in town. Good - he’s a hoot.
“It’s rare that he has a babysitter,” Will rationalises. “He’s making the most of it.”
Five Drink Frankie pipes up. “Never fear Santiago, we can find you a costume.”
He waves his palms dismissively in front of him. “Eh, I don’t think so.”
“We can wrap you in toilet roll,” Will snickers, winking at you as you both watch Santi get riled up - with increasing amusement.
“No. Noooooo!” Frankie protests with gusto. “Tin foil. Gotta be.”
“Why does it gotta be, hermano?” A laugh bobs in Santi’s throat but it’s nervous. He scoops his palm around his stubbled jaw.
“Because you should be the tin man.” Frankie states, point blank at Santi, and for a long, stretched moment, the man shows no signs of humouring him. He’s obviously not getting the joke.
“Alright,” he finally concedes, voice taut amidst the rolling laughter of his companions in the room. “Hit me with it.”
Frankie winds up with relish. “You should be the tin man. ‘Cause you’re part silver and your knees creak if they’re not oiled.” He emits a throaty chuckle. “Oh and because you’re a heartless S.O.B.,” he adds for good measure, clearly in jest.
It’s funny. Frankie turns to high five Benny. Your chest tightens with mirth.
It’s funny, and it’s made all the more funny by the fact Santiago is not even remotely amused. For Christ’s sake - he knows fine well that Frankie adores him, and yet he still can’t mange to take it entirely on that perfectly sculpted chin.
“Ooh! But I do kinda like that idea,” you encourage with a shit-eating grin. You always did enjoy riling him. Had always entertained the idea that at some point he’d finally make you pay for it in ways you would enjoy. “We could wrap you in tin foil, you’ll be good to go.”
His dark eyes flick towards you, silently admonishing you for egging Morales on, and his stern look sends a flare of heat to your middle. “How about no.”
You jut out your lower lip and put on your best baby voice. “But you can cook like a little potato on the dance floor.” You jiggle your arms in a cute little dance.
Santi, for his part, squirms uncomfortably in his seat. “Yeah. Look. Costume’s just not gonna happen.”
You plonk yourself next to him on the couch, wrapping your arm around him and giving him a friendly jostle. Shit he smells good tonight. “Aww. Come on. Why are you being such a stick in the mud, Santiago?”
“I just don’t want to look stupid.”
“Like the costume was ever the problem there,” Benny snickers, and there is a resurgence of laughter in the room.
“Why not?” Will needles, evidently seeing a thread the rest of you have dropped. “Who you trying to impress, Pope?”
He tenses. Rubs his palms together like they’ve suddenly become clammy. Clears his throat several times and squirms a little in his seat. “N-Nobody.”
God you hope he’s trying to impress you. You and he have been skirting around this thing for months now, and you are practically begging that he’ll finally drum up the courage to make a move.
You all but beg him now with your eyes, flashing him a sultry stare. “Okay. Fine,” you drop your voice lower, leaning in to him. “Be a spoilsport if you like. But if you don’t dress up, I’m not putting my outfit on.”
His head swivels towards you, expression non-plussed. “I don’t care.”
You hold his gaze. “Oh, but you will. Because my outfit is very, very slutty.”
Santiago clears his throat again. Begins to nod, ever so slowly. Opens his mouth and closes it wordlessly, pouting his beautiful lips together.
“I’ll get the tin foil, hermano!” Frankie shouts jubilantly, seeing Santi collapse like a house of cards in the face of your expert negotiation.
“Nicely played,” Will praises as Santiago is frogmarched towards the kitchen, still grumbling but not quite protesting as much as he had been prior.
“Fashion him a little hat, Francisco!” Benny calls after him, face glowing with sheer, childlike delight.
“Fucking… Pendejos,” Santiago curses through his teeth as Frankie plants his hands firmly on his shoulders from behind, pressing him onward.
He pats him on the shoulder. “I’ve seen her outfit, man. Trust me. You’ll be thanking me later.”
With glee, you skip to the drawer and fish out the tin foil, holding it up with a giggle of delight.
He sighs, ever so reluctantly positioning himself in the centre of the floor, arms and legs spread out like a starfish, and resigned to his fate. “Come on then. Just do it.”
“Get him sorted, will you, Frankie? I’m going upstairs… to hold up my end of the bargain.”
You wink at Santiago as you sweep out, your chaotic laughter trailing behind you.
You do so enjoy riling him. You just really wish he’d finally do something about it.
***
You spring down the stairs as soon as Will calls to announce your Lyft is arrived, and you squeal as you see Santiago glinting in his aluminium costume, nestled amongst the throng of men gathered in your hallway.
“Haha! Cute!” you praise in delight, clapping your hands together with glee as you note that Frankie did indeed fashion him a little hat. You admire it, sat all askew and pointy on top of that bed of curls, secured under his chin with a piece of blue cooking twine. Damn. Frankie really got good at the crafting thing since his daughter started pre-school, huh?
Santiago swivels towards the sound of you, crinkling as he does so. And, when he sees you, his face drops in shock… and not in a good way. “Wait. Where’s your outfit?”
“Meh. I decided against it. A little too cold out there for something so skimpy.”
The other boys titter at how well you played him, and they begin to pile out of your door towards your waiting ride.
Santiago however, remains standing there, getting his little panties all in a twist. “Well then what are you? What have you come as?”
“Mmm,” you hum, sliding your body up beside him. Dipping your mouth all close to the shell of his ear. “What have I come as, Santiago?”
“Uh huh.” A hard swallow bobs down his throat as your breath fans against his neck. You know fine well that you get him all hot and bothered - a fact you take pride in.
You pause, lightly licking your lips for effect. And, when your voice comes again, it is dripping with honey. “I’ve come as someone that you’re gonna hook up with later. Is that alright with you, Santiago?”
The man is frozen -welded- to his spot in the doorway. Entirely arrested there, even as you sweep off down the path. You turn, watching him stupefied, and you offer him a cheeky, smug wink.
You can see the possibilities swimming in his lust-blown stare, but, naturally, the boys ensure he is torn all too harshly from his burgeoning fantasies.
“Shit!” Frankie shouts as he notes his buddy stood there, completely frozen. “Oil his knees! Somebody oil his goddamn knees!”
Laughter erupts again, and Santiago finally regains the power of movement as the undesirable teasing snaps him out of his stupor.
You take sudden pity on him, and you hold out your hand for him as he crinkles his way up the path. “Come on my little potato,” you encourage with a lopsided smile, even as the rest of the boys continue to rib him.
“Worth it.” He says through gritted teeth, as though psyching himself up for a whole night of this. “It’s gonna be worth it.”
You dip forward to plant a chaste kiss on his grumpy cheek and then you clamber inside, all of you taking your seats and clipping in.
You end up in the row to the front with Frankie and Will, Santi and Benny buckled in directly behind you. You can’t help but tune in to their conversation as the car pulls off, wheeling its way toward your destination.
“You look fucking stupid man,” Benny howls as he gets another fresh look at Santi.
“Right. And you don’t?” he bites.
“No,” Benny responds confidently, characteristically unphased. “Because I’m owning it.” You can’t even see Benny right now, but if you had to guess you’d say he’s likely flexing.
“Well whatever. Pretty sure I’m going to get the last laugh.”
“How come?”
“Because she says she’s hooking up with me tonight.”
Your lips curl into a smug grin, and you can practically feel those dark delicious eyes of his boring into the back of your head.
Oh he wants you, alright. He knows fine well you can hear him too. Such a tease.
“Aww buddy,” Benny consoles, tittering lightly and it’s not at all the reaction Santi was expecting - you can tell.
“What?”
“She’s said that to all of us.”
It’s true. You have. To every single one of them.
You’ve been bad.
Bad like you’re trying to get a rise out of him. Trying to piss him off. Is it really your fault if a lot of your fantasies are quite… specific? That you’d like him to… punish you a lil bit? You don’t think that’s so terrible, right?
You swivel in your seat, turning your head just enough then to see Santi’s aggrieved stare. You counter it, with a wolfish grin and a devilish wink, and he continues to stare you down.
“Oops,” you purr innocently, and you thrill as you watch Santi seethe, eyes blackened and brows drawn down.
Oh oh. Were you really so bad?
Sure you were. But is he going to do a damn thing about it? Probably not. He never does.
Safe to say, he’s pretty quiet for the rest of the journey.
You can only wonder what he’s thinking about, while you imagine kissing him senseless.
***
You pull up to the venue and you all pile out, already pretty raucous before you’ve even gotten inside.
That is, except for Santiago, who has become disconcertingly still all of a sudden. Unusually quiet, and even more intense than usual.
And, moments before you enter, lagging behind the group, your wrist is caught by the firm grip of his warm hand and he holds you back, guiding you towards the nearest wall. Walking forward until he pins you in place.
“You’ve been a real bad girl tonight, huh?” he purrs, the brown in his eyes engulfed by his lust-blown pupils. “You know that?”
“Of course I do.” You jut your chin out to him defiantly. “But what the hell are you gonna do about it?”
You challenge him. You look at his plush mouth. You drag your tongue along your lower lip, devouring him with your gaze. And in just a moment of you eyeing him hungrily it happens.
Happens like it always does. Unfortunately.
He loses his nerve.
In a split second, all of his bluster has gone. Collapsed. Evaporated. No more.
It’s… disappointing.
It’s less than ideal.
Of course, you could make the move yourself. Have entertained the possibility more times than you could count. But, considering the stories you’ve heard about him - the way he loves and leaves - you want him to be very sure about you. You want him to show you that he’s sure, and all you’ve had so far is him blowing hot and cold.
“Hmm. I thought so. Your problem is you’re all talk, Santiago. Like you were finally going to make an actual move on me? I should know better.”
His brows draw down, but other than that he has no response.
It’s always this way, and that’s just not going to work for you. You like a man who knows exactly what he wants. Who makes you feel sure he can handle you. Yes - even when you’ve been “bad”.
You press your palms against his chest and create some space for you to extricate yourself. “Always some excuse. This time it’ll be the costume, right?” You wait, but still he has nothing. “Foiled again.” Still nothing. You rap your fist on his tin man chest. “Your heart’s not in it.”
Still. Nothing.
Right. Okay. Figures. But he’s running out of chances. Does he want you or not? All signs point to yes, but it never quite materialises.
What’s stopping him?
You throw your hands up in the air dismissively, and you turn on your heel to walk away. Maybe for the last time. But, Santi’s small voice arrests you. “I should have come as a lion.”
You spin back towards him and fold your arms tiredly, stomping one heeled foot. “What?!”
“I should have come as the cowardly fuckin’ lion.”
You examine his expression, and he looks entirely earnest. Okay. You’re keen to see where he’s going with this. “Why? Is the tin foil too scratchy or…?”
“No, dumbass.” He walks towards you, and he gently unknots your arms, talking both of your hands in his. The warmth of his touch sends tingles snaking up your arms. “Because I’ve wanted to be with you for so long, but I’ve never had the courage to show you.” Your breath hitches in your throat as he powers closer, clear purpose and intention roping through his body. “Never had the courage to do this.”
“T-To do what, Santiago?!”
And, in answer to your question, he finally kisses you. It’s a sure kiss. Not a scrap of hesitation on the man any longer.
It is everything you have waited for. Dreamed of.
His broad hands are splayed and coursing up your back, to your neck, cradling your head as he dips his lips towards yours. You feel oh so secure and safe in his strong encircling arms.
His sturdy body is clamped close to yours, his torso arching and his tummy pressing up against you. His ample thigh is jammed in between your legs and offering an insistent pressure against your mound. You cant your hips against him and the shift sends a pleasant, resonant hum right to the tips of your toes. A warmth folding around your rib cage.
His tongue is leading, supple and confident and opening you up, the kiss deep and dirty and smug, delving into you with a promise that this is only the beginning. That he has a whole lot more to give.
He’s in control, and it’s all you’ve ever wanted.
You melt into him, into his form, liquid in his arms, and snake your fingers into his grizzled curls, pulling his kiss even deeper. His stubble grazes your cheek as his mouth works hungrily against you, and you deliver abortive, breathy moans into the cave of him as he devours you.
He overcomes you. His force, but also his tenderness. The way his sure grip offers a promise to take care of you but also to hold you safe in his arms. You feel weak, knees shaking with this energy. With the sheer possibility of it all, his kiss snaking under your skin like an electric current, bedding down into your centre. Blooming out to the far-reaches of your limbs.
You bury your head in the crook of his neck as you break for a more substantial dose air, panting gently and a buzzy feeling thrumming in your skull like he’s made you feel light-headed.
He moans. Moans for you and the way your contours feel as his broad hands rove over your body, seeking out every scrap of skin he can find bared to him.
He shifts, seamlessly tilting your head and baring your throat to him, and your stomach lurches pleasantly as you feel Santiago’s stubble graze the column of your neck, honey snaking down your spine and crawling into your bones.
“You have been a really bad girl, haven’t you?” he grits, his voice deep and dark as a pit. His tone heavy -burdened- with lust, and another rolling wave of warmth sinks right into the pit of you, your core becoming liquid.
“I know,” you manage to respond breathily as his teeth nip at your ear lobe. You whimper lightly into the air for him, coming completely undone, and yet you claw desperately for that upper hand. For some composure, and somehow, you find it. “But I’m confident I can get you to forgive me.”
He sucks at your throat, his tongue flattening over the cords of your neck, and it makes you shiver with need. “Oh yeah?”
“Yeah,” you angle your hips against his, skimming the hard promise straining beneath his clothes. Looping your arms loosely around his neck you pull back, looking him in the eyes, his gaze heavy and half-lidded. “I think you’ll forgive me as soon as you see my costume,” you purr wantonly. “Like I said, Santiago. It’s very, very slutty.”
The broken groan Santi expels from his throat then might be the hottest sound you’ve ever heard, and, God. If you’re finally going to hook up with him tonight - if he’s finally mustered the courage? You want to make sure it’s everything you’ve wanted it to be.
And so, a gentle smile lilts over your mouth as you figure it out. If you want Santiago to punish you, you’d better be really bad first.
That shouldn’t be a problem. After all, he’s so easy to wind up.
You take a purposeful step back from him and hold your hand out for him to take, tossing your head towards the door of the venue, a playful smile dancing on your lips. “Come on then my little potato. Let’s get you inside.”
“You’re in for it later,” he promises darkly.
And finally, there it is. You’re about to have everything you want from him; and yet… suddenly that’s not all you want.
You realise that he has far more than that to offer you.
Santiago is looking at you some kind of way - a delectable heat sparking in his eyes. And yet, beneath that, something softer and far more adoring is dancing there. In the way he holds you. In the way his gaze flits steadily around your face.
You’ve always known the man was your walking fantasy, but you’ve done him a disservice. You forgot to see the reality of him too.
Still - better late that never.
You finally see it.
You think he finally found the courage tonight to live up to all your fantasies - true.
But you realise that -despite him being dressed as the tin man- you have never once doubted his heart. He’s never given you cause to.
Besides. Okay. He really does look cute in that little silver hat.
“You don’t look stupid by the way,” you intone softly, dropping the teasing edge.
“No?”
“No. You look good, Santiago.”
The softest smile claims him as you lead him inside.
For now, there is dancing to be done. And, later?
Well, later, you definitely intend to fulfil your end of the bargain and throw on something skimpy.
You finally think you’ve teased the poor man enough.

Here we go. The grand finale of the infamous arc.
Episode 19: Endless Eight, Part 8
This loop's a little different. Kyon flirts with Mikuru when he arrives at the group.
Tumblr media
Haruhi does... this.
Tumblr media
But it's hard to say if these deviations mean anything or if they're just standard probabilistic variances.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We almost got to see what happens if Kyon kills himself with a firework mid-loop.
Do you think we'd have to continue with the rest of the cycle? Or would Haruhi be like, "No." and break time? Uh. Break time even further, I suppose.
I definitely feel like if anything actually happened to Kyon at any point, Haruhi would happen to reality like Madokami/Devil Homs. You thought the world-cramping was bad? She's about to unleash a full-scale world-seizure.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There have been no further trips without goldfish scooping since we started following the loops. Good. I'm still mad about those.
Also I realize now that I was misunderstanding the 437 number. I thought it was 2 trips with no Bon Festival and 437 trips with no goldfish scooping. And since the goldfish scooping happens at the Bon Festival, that means 435 trips where we go to the festival but no scooping happens.
But no. The statistic is 437 trips where we go to the festival but no scooping happens. So that's two extra "OKAY BUT WHY THO" loops. I hope everyone in those loops died horribly because Mikuru puts up with a lot of bullshit and she deserves to have nice things.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
HAHAHAHAHA I was right.
She wants him to ask for her help with his summer homework, since his lazy ass waited for the last possible second.
Tumblr media
Pulling everyone together into a study group to get it all done on the last day. That is what Haruhi keeps resetting time to get done. That's... uncharacteristically selfless of her, actually.
Just. Uh.
Tumblr media
Make sure you run it by our supreme deity first, rather than speaking insubordinately about it. XD What a fantastic anticlimax for Kyon's revelation. I love the idea that the thing Haruhi was missing, the one thing that kept making her reset time because she felt unfulfilled, was that she's never had a last-minute cram session with friends on the final day of a vacation. On account of being too goddamn smart.
I feel like this is actually Kyon's fault. Like that talk he and Haruhi had about the summer homework is actually what put the idea in her head to begin with that this was a thing she wanted to experience. But then she forgot, because despite being God, she is also a fallible human being.
Eight episodes of looping was too many episodes of looping. But this is the perfect way to finally tie it off.

oh my god ive never hated a show this much after seeing the ending. literally i enjoyed it until the last 5 fucking minutes of this stupid show. episode six was pretty good! it had a nice wrap up to the show! im so fucking pissed that wade exists at all, but ykw, whatever! its fine! i can look past that and see what the show is trying to accomplish.
BUT. THAT IS ALL UNDERMINED WHEN THE ENTIRE POINT OF THE SHOW IS KNUCKLES FINDING HIS HOME. HE ACHIEVES THIS BY GOING ON ADVENTURES WITH A GUY HE DOESNT FUCKING KNOW, INSTEAD, IDK, HIS GOD DAMN BROTHERS AND PARENTS THAT ADOPTED HIM AFTER THEY SAVED THE WORLD TOGETHER. I AM SHAKING WITH RAGE HOW DARE YOU SEPARATE THOSE FIVE. HOW DARE YOU ONLY PUT TAILS SONIC AND MADDIE IN THE FIRST EPISODE OH MY GOD I SCREAMED WHEN THAT STUPID ENDING HAPPENED. TOM ISNT EVEN IN IT. THE MAIN ARC OF THIS SHOW CENTERS AROUND WADE. THIS IS KNUCKLES' SHOW!!! WHY IS HE BARELY IN IT OH MY GODDDDD IM GONNA DIE GUYS HELP ME
i physically cant take this shit im gonna die that was so bad im lightheaded. that narrative arc was almost so good. and thats worse than being bad. its just MID. for the episode? id ehhhh rate it a 7/10 cowboy hats , it was good! like it was a good episode if i pretend it had nothing to do with sonic because it fucking didnt. thanks.
rating the show? it gets a 3/10, and those three points are for the cinematography and the jokes. cuz those were the only redeeming qualities. and even then i have low standards. ouch

Why did they even make the remakes? Was it to 'fix' their current story to reuse the characters to assure more money? Like it an obvious, yes for the money, but what's up with the numbers and surveys? Why wasn't just remaster an option?
The early/mid 2010s were not a good time for Capcom. Like, I know that today, Capcom is one of the most trusted publishers in the AAA space, but that was not the case 10 years ago. 10 years ago, Capcom was what Blizzard is today (you know, without the whole "rape and suicide of female devs" thing)
SF5 released with on-disc DLC to massive controversy.
DMC4 flopped, and then DmC was an absolute disaster, with the director of that game openly trolling fans.
Monster Hunter had gone fully mobile and Capcom stopped releasing it in the West.
They canceled like 3 or 4 Megaman games and let the franchise die an undignified death.
Dead Rising got run into the ground with two horrible releases back to back.
And then RE6 happened.
Fans had been begging Capcom for an RE2 remake since the first REmake, and Capcom's answer has always been "no" "not gonna do it" "not a chance" "you already have Darkside Chronicles" "not now sweetie the grownups are talking" and finally "NO. STOP ASKING."
So, in 2015, when public opinion of the company was in the toilet and Capcom needed to stop the bleeding, Hirabayashi grabbed a hammer and smashed the "IN CASE OF EMERGENCY BREAK GLASS" window and dropped plans for an RE2 remake onto Capcom corporate's desk.
And it actually worked lmao
Hirabayashi's announcement video for RE2make was so sincere and so genuine and so earnest and so exciting that "WE DO IT!!!!!" became a rallying cry across the industry, and everyone forgot for a while just how much they distrusted Capcom. I can't recall a single person going "lmao modern Capcom remaking RE2 LOOOOL"
The RE2make announcement was the start of Capcom's redemption arc. It was something they needed to do to signal to fans "we're listening and we want to do better."

The timeskips issue has never been a recent one. The pitfalls of the numerous timeskips in the beginning of the story (Yuji being enrolled in JJH and picking up Nobara in June -> July's suicide mission + meeting the upperclassmen & Kyoto Kids -> August seemingly being skipped outright -> Junpei Arc in September¹, and pretty much everything before Shibuya needing to happen in September or October) have affected the character and relationship growth since the get-go.
Tumblr media
I love the tenderness and consoling conviction from Yuji in this scene, but at this point, he's only known Nanami for a few days, and been 'dead' for somewhere between a month and a month and a week or two. So he'd really only known Megumi for like, a month, tops. He'd known Nobara for maybe a couple of weeks. It's unclear how long he'd known Ijichi for, but on-and-off through July, probably...most of these times are guesses, and due to the timeskips, I can't be sure how well or how little Yuji got to known all of these people during the times he could have. Gojo, his longest relationship out of the five he was thinking of, tends to get infrequent and small references to what he did or didn't teach Yuji at various times. There's another moment shortly before this page where Yuji thinks back to a scene we never saw², wherein Gojo apparently taught Yuji how to fight Shikigami users ("When fighting Shikigami Users...go for the User themselves.") But ultimately, the audience hasn't been able to spend more than a few moments' times to get an understanding of Yuji's attachments and his faith in the people he relies on. Nanami gets the most here (Junpei Arc, Chapter 26) since this was the arc he was introduced in, and has been closely mentoring Yuji, but as mentioned, this entire arc takes place in a small timeframe. As a result, the believability of these relationships can easily be called into question, and this scene didn't hit me as hard as it should have.
Culling Games has a similar issue with believability in character dynamics and pacing, largely caused by the frequent timeskips forcing arcs immediately after Shibuya to cram as much as they can into short timeframes. Junpei Arc can get away with this more due to its early placement in the story, but the cracks had been visible well into this arc and even beforehand.
In a very twisted way, the post-unsealing timeskip, from mid-November (somewhere around/after November 16th; EDIT, it's November 19th³) to December 24th, is not particularly unique, though it is one of the largest timeskips (that I can positively identify through information in the manga's pages), possibly only behind the mid-July (?) to September skip. I've mentioned it before, though, that JJK simply could not handle another timeskip of a similar magnitude (or one exceeding, perhaps, a week). This mainly comes down to the bloating of the cast and status quo changes in the Perfect Preparation Arc, the Culling Games Arc, and the aftermath of 212 through 221.
I really wish I could have appreciated his scene more, since it's lovely and well-executed in-of-itself. But since it relies on the preceding groundwork, the shaky foundation undermines an otherwise knockout scene.
¹I am here in my reread, so I'm a little fuzzy on any timeskips after this point.
²Using flashbacks to show the audience new scenes can be effective, but this method gets overused in JJK to fill in gaps caused by not devoting enough time to character-building and cast downtime.
³GUESS WHO FORGOT ABOUT TWO DIFFERENT PANELS IN 221 EXPLICITLY CLARIFYING THE DATE? Blegh, I'll have to be more careful when I eventually fully reread--I have only gone through most 146+ chapters once. Anyways, the panels:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This also means that the full extent of the timeskip ran between 34 and 35 days, depending on if you're counting December 24th or not (this is not counting November 19th itself).

Another Ch 8 snippet
It's my birthday, i do what I want, so have another section of chapter 8 cuz this one's a bit beefy:
“What in Azil’s shell is this?”
Neither brother knew what they were looking at for a moment aside from massively overgrown shrubs and climbers that had won the battle against whatever was underneath them, the clearing full to bursting with foliage and creeping vines twisting in and out of tree branches and structures of metal and rope that must have served a purpose before the plant Armageddon arrived. Jenn herself seemed perturbed as they arrived at the edge of the leafy wall after a few minutes of trekking through the forest at her behest, one hand rubbing the back of her head confusedly. “Well, it was my training course,” she answered after a moment, Moon feeling more confused than before. “I knew I forgot something when I got home.”
“Training course?” the navy bot inquired. Beside him, Sun kne;t down and grabbed a leaf from the dense cloud of green wrapping around their feet, giving it a gentle squeeze and finding it plush and bouncy.
“Uh, yeah.” Even the human found her words hard to believe for a moment.
“Training for what?”
Casting a glance at the nosey blue robot, Jenn raised a brow. “Well, unlike you I have to actually maintain my fitness levels.” Moon’s eyes glinted brightly at her sarcasm. “Don’t let the overgrowth fool you,” she added on, kneeling next to Sun and pulling a coil of greenery out of the ground with little resistance. “Trusslin is a very fast growing plant, leave it be long enough and it’ll overtake an area in a matter of weeks. I must have forgotten to come trim it back.”
“It’s soft,” Sun commented, adding the data to his collection of plants.
“Ain’t it?” she mused, grabbing another handful.
“Why not just get rid of it?” Moon wondered, tilting his head while studying one of the overgrown structures.
“Cuz it happens that a carpet of trusslin is really great for breaking falls,” Jenn replied, standing up and pressing a leaf against Moon’s face, causing him to lean away. The leaf dropped onto his shoulder, causing him to pick it up and pause, rubbing it between his fingers; the leaves were velvety and gave way slightly, as if they were little pillows of air that had deflated just a tad. “It’s not gonna stop you from eating shekt if you fall from too high, but I’ve avoided quite a few broken bones because of this stuff. Grows like crazy if it’s light enough and forms natural curls in the stems that tangle together like a net. Just, uh…” She waved her hand over the mess. “Gotta keep up on pruning.”
Taking the leaf from Moon, who was done playing with the plant scrap, Sun squished it between his fingers, trying to contain a giggle. “What do you do with the trimmings?” he wondered, lifting the leaf toward his brother’s face, causing him to lean away slightly.
“Uh…” Thinking for a moment, Jenn counted with her fingers. “Compost, fodder, mulch… there’s no nutritional value unfortunately, and it doesn’t taste like anything, but you can dry them and they stay puffy and soft so I like to use the unbroken ones as scrub pads sometimes, otherwise they’re great padding for pillows and stuff.”
Grabbing Sun’s wrist and shooting him a glare when the leaf returned to his personal bubble, Moon snatched it from his brother’s grasp and dropped it out of reach; Sun only grinned mischievously back at him. “So I’m guessing if we want to use this stuff, we need to cull the overgrowth?” he asked as his other hand moved to stop Sun from putting a vine on his head.
“Unfortunately,” Jenn sighed, turning to face them. “I’ll get a bag and my trimmers and be right back.”
She’d barely left their line of sight before something soft came into swift contact with Moon’s temple–or it tried to at least, before he’d snatched it mid-arc, incidentally crushing the object in his hand. Wet grass wasn’t his favorite scent, but that was far less important than the sound of Sun’s amused snickering. “Quit it,” the darker bot warned, catching the quick motion of Sun plucking another leaf from the overgrowth. “What’re you doing?”
In response, Sun tossed the leaf at his face, causing him to swat it away.
“Sun!” Moon took a step toward his brother, intending to stop him from grabbing anything else to mess with.
Pftb.
They both paused, looking down. Moon lifted his foot, revealing a crushed trusslin leaf that had all of the air force out of it suddenly.
Sun choked back a snicker, chest quivering.
Moon bit the inside of his lip to keep back a laugh of his own, how voice warbling as he tried to keep it in. “Sun–Sun that’s not–” A grinding, throaty sound from the golden bot got him to cough a bit, both of them struggling to not laugh at the absurd noise. “Shut up, that–mkh–that wasn’t funny.”
“Yes it was.” Sun’s voice was barely a squeak.
Cheek aching from trying to fight the urge to smile, Moon had to turn away, losing the battle slowly against his own poor humor. “We really are children.”
Doubled over, Sun nodded, trying his best to calm himself down. A thick, fuzzy leaf bobbed in front of him as he exhaled; teal eyes flicked to Moon for a moment, then back to the leaf.
Moon saw the glance. “Do not.”
Sun reached for the leaf slowly, now holding Moon’s gaze with his mouth pressed thin with guilty pleasure.
“Sunrise.”
In a flash, Sun grabbed the leaf and pulled, twisting upright–
–Moon darted, trying to rip the leaf away before anything could be done with it.

IM BACK WITH THE STEEL CHAIR! i forgot my complaints. squilf is annoyingly hostile this book and i hate it (in a bad writing sense). “cats don’t charge their names!” crowfeather literally changed his mid ceremony. this happens all the time. erins be consistent challenge. sparkpelt is also written poorly like. from what i did read of avos she was normal and caring don’t do this to her man.
yeeeeaaaahh it's a big reason why i was so turned off from nightheart as a character when the arc came out :/ it's a bit of a choice to have all the she-cats around me be played as the antagonists and then the dude who's flesh corpse exiled ur family is the cool grandpa that nightheart can lean on. did not like it! but i've also ranted a lot on him so i won't put you through that lol
VERY light asc spoilers, nothing huge but i'm putting them under the cut if you want to go in completely blind
sparkpelt and squilf eventually do get treated better but they don't ever fully stop being considered "not problems" by the narrative. it's not great and it really makes nightheart's development feel like it's going in circles.

Just beat ffxvi and while nothing can hurt me more than ffxv this was still pretty close lmao there's one big thing that makes me hopefully for a dlc though sooo 👀
I'm gunna add spoilers under the cut! Just random thoughts I might add to! There's a lot lol
- Okay so firstly since the beginning with Joshua being the Phoenix I really felt he was going to survive with a new 'rebirth '. Which came at the end at the hands of Clive.
We know Joshua lived because Clive seems to heal his wounds and after the credits there seems to be a book titled Final Fantasy written in Joshua's name.
(Now there's so debate on Clive writing it under Joshua's name since Clive is the narrator in the game even after he seems to have passed. And if you do the side quest with Tomes ( Harpocrates) he gives Clive a pen in hopes that one day he'll give up the sword for the pen. ) But I really believe it was written by Joshua.
But to how he survived.
If you look in the lore under the remaking of world in the mysteries of the realm. It says Ultima requires his vessel to cast "Raise" which will revive his race not his faithful. Clive uses It on Joshua and it works since Joshua held a piece of Ultima and was supposed to be a part of the final vessel!
- Under Mysteries of the realm then Mythos. Mythos was supposed to be a vessel made to cast a spell to revive his dying tribe and remake the world in their image.
Clive does end up casting the spell after defeating Ultima. Bringing the end to the crystal AND magic which had caused the blight and by proxy does revive humanity in terms of stopping the blight, and remakes the world to one without magic! Cool!
-I really like Mid NOT making an airship at the end. She thinks it would be used for war so she wants to dump the engines off a cliff lol. And make a hard to understand treasure map for people to find it I love her.
- does Clive survive? Clive is left washed up on a beach after casting the spell. He said Ultima's power was too strong and after a moment his whole hand uses to cast the spell has turned to stone. In game this happens slowly over time so the fact that it happens so rapidly to Clive shows how much that spell cost him. Laying there he asks if Jill can see the same stars before it fades to black and cuts to a child being born and Jill watching Metia fade away. Now Metia is pretty much a wishing star. And Jill had prayed to it for Clive safe return in the beginning and end of the game. It's heavily impiled that Clive is kinda also a representation of Metia and Jill writes him a letter saying he is her guiding star, her light. So it vanishing and a new day dawning as Jill watches feels like Jill's wish will not longer be granted, signalling Clive's death.
I forgot!! There a page in the hideout you can find that literally the end of the game I read it early on and I was like huh...
Tumblr media
- LEVIATHAN!! I dunno how'd they do a dlc without magic so I'm thinking prequel but they mention Leviathan the lost eikon but never say what happened??!! So I think dlc.
- Gav is amazing and I'm really happy he survived. I was so sure he'd die throughout the whole game lol
- the medicine girl had a page in the tomes early early on and I was like she'll be important.
- Dion had a great arc and I really enjoyed his story, another character I pegged to die but liked way more and had much more of an impact than I thought

i am very curious (and i'm asking this not with any malicious intent) but what ages do you see the genshin characters! i personally see them (most of them) as adults, even collei. even if they were teenagers, time passes in-game (i.e. lantern rite happens every year and we already had 2 lantern rites in-game) so they'll eventually grow to be adults.
tldr: I have schrodinger's age headcanons
long answer: if they're in a ship with a ""clearly"" adult character, I'll assume they're young adults; idk I feel like there's some blurring of age and what growth stage you're in when people are around 17 to 20 (from my experience) so I think it's vague-ish enough that you could probably do what you want.
If they're not in a ship I see some of them as adults and some as still teens/underage. as a general rule of thumb a character's age is solely dependent on what I want at the moment, although I do think the way some characters are written (ie character arcs, character stories and general personality) pushes me to view them as underage (will explain more but the character I'm thinking about most w this is Xingqiu). Some of them read to me as clear adults, and then there are some in-betweens where I just have "vaguely young looking" in my hcs LOL
you bring up a good point that time is passing in game although we don't see it reflected in the character models—everyone points out that Xiao opens up a bit more every lantern rite, but fandom (and genshin devs too ig 💀) definitely forgets that all the other characters are also growing/changing. w/ 4.1 around the corner my personal wish is for hu tao, xingqiu, and chongyun's relationships to each other get developed more so that their relationships (as described through their voicelines abt each other) don't feel so flat,,,,,, it would also help with the sense of "time is passing in game for ALL characters", since we almost never get this kind of evolving relationship portrayed between 4*s/non endgame important charas.
I have too much time on my hands so I'll also just run through all the teen/short models there are for each region and list whether my personal headcanons are adult or minor (at least their ages when we "meet" them in canon):
liyue (mortal/mortal adjacent characters): yanfei, chongyun, xingqiu, hu tao, xiangling, xinyan, yun jin, keqing
yanfei and keqing are solidly adults to me, yanfei's a lawyer and keqing's also in a govt job so both of them feel around like 25-27 to me. Definitely somewhere around their mid-20s, although I can also see them as younger, especially Keqing, because of her overall attitude/perspective on life and the gods. iirc her character stories show how her worldview's grown/broadened to be not as naive/black and white, so I feel like she's still in the process of maturing. If you told me Yanfei was like 23 (appearance wise) I guess I'd believe you too, since she's a very peppy person who seems to be running all over the place all the time, doing errands for madame ping, checking on her clients, taking new cases etc. I feel like it gives her youthful energy, so I can see it if people hc her on the younger side of her 20s (in human years I forgot how her half-adeptal blood works).
I see the other 6 as a friend group (liyue 6ang let's go) so they're either all teens or all adults depending on the portrayal. You can obviously view them as adults all the time, but I don't get those vibes. Xinyan and Yun Jin might be like 18-19, but if that's the case, I can't see the other 4 being any younger than 17, just because I think they're all almost the same age or 1-2 years apart maximum. For some reason so many people view Hu Tao and Yun Jin as adults but at the same time think the others are minors? Idk about that.. genshin has shown that Xiangling, Xinyan, and Yun Jin are pretty close friends, and then always put Xingqiu and Chongyun together for the ship bait, so maybe that's the root of fanon's age hcs. However, I think if some of them are young adults, then all of them are. There's a max 2 year age gap between all 6 of them idk idk I really can't see it otherwise.
To me, Xingqiu's arc reads like a 16 year old finding his footing in the world. Hiding martial arts novels under his bed, tired of playing dutiful 2nd son and sneaking out to live out his idealized wuxia dreams, his multiple voicelines where he's implied to be super worried about us giving away his involvings in the Guhua sect, they all read like he's still trying to figure out his role in his family (what he wants it to be, and what his parents want it to be). He's also very naive about the world, but learning. He just feels a lot like how (chinese) teenagers grow up and like. growing into or out of the paths given to us by our parents. ... or i could just be projecting! Anyways, in my no ships world, he's a 16-17 yr old. Chongyun's clan and family play a not-insignificant role in his backstory, so I think he's the same age as Xingqiu, just older by a month for the flex. Lowkey I don't have as much reason for him as the others, but I think they're in the same age range by association; probably almost 18 at most. Hu Tao's character stories explicitly state she's 13 when her grandfather passed away, and I think she becomes Director not long after this, so I would say she's also around 16-17 when the game starts. @.acatoner who draws quite possibly my favorite interpretations of the gang(TM) once mentioned they see her with spoiled younger sister energy and honestly yeah. she's an only child but has the strongest solidarity with Xingqiu (they're the bratty younger siblings of the friendgroup). Out of all of them, Xiangling is the one with the most plausible job if she was like, young: being a chef apprentice with her dad to continue the family business is pretty reasonable. Middle child energy, probably 17. We did meet her when she was in Mondstadt foraging ingredients, so I'd say she's not very young, but still young enough for her dad to chew her out during moonchase for being like messy or clumsy or smth? Xinyan and Yun Jin.... I think Yun Jin is at least almost 18—running a well acclaimed opera troupe is a pretty big undertaking imo, even if her parents are there to like guide her and whatnot. Same with Xinyan, 17-18 range, although she def started playing rock publicly when she was way younger.
inazuma: shinobu, heizou, kazuha, kirara, gorou, kokomi, ayaka, yoimiya
Disclaimer I have not read the Lore and don't know whether actual ages are given for Ayaka and Ayato (specifically pointing them out because iirc their and Thoma's character stories are the most specific ones wrt the timeline).
I see basically all of them as adults, ayaka might be an exception but she's like 17 minimum in my head. That's pretty interesting considering I labeled almost all the liyue short models as teens. From what I can remember of their character stories, the Inazuman characters seem to be portrayed as having their formative struggles set In the Past (probably a couple years before we meet them) so perhaps that's why I see them as solidly young adults. Additionally, Inazuma's arc and its war pushes me to see all of them as adults, even if they're still obscenely young to be generals and strategicians. The exceptions I can see to this are only Yoimiya (smaller role in archon quest and not related to the government), and Shinobu + Heizou, who were released later. Yoimiya's maturity really stands out to me—from the way her neighbors and old people converse with her, and her overall character arc + second story quest, I cannot see her as below like 19 at least. Shinobu manages an entire unofficial gang and has countless certifications under her belt plus ex-shrine maiden stint—she probably isn't less than 23. It would be cute if she were the same age as Yanfei but just started law school later, so Yanfei's still her senior. I think there's not much to say on Heizou either, he's friends with Kazuha and has a real job, so I can't read him below 20-21. I don't know anything about Kirara (don't have her, haven't read her stories) but I also just get the vibes of like 20-something errand girl SDFDSSKDFJS in a modern au she'd deliver to teyvat/inazuma's college campus for sure
mondstadt (humans): barbara, razor, bennett, fischl, mika, amber, noelle, sucrose
this is a mix again, for Barbara Razor Bennett and Fischl they give me kid vibes, like little adventure gang things. Reddit apparently cites Mona called Fischl an adult in the 2.8 Midsummer Fantasia GAA event, so I mean. I guess she's 18 there—might've been 16 when we met in game the first time (1.2?? scaramouche fake stars event or something?) Idk really. Their group collectively gives me 16 year old vibes, at least when we start the game. I can see it if all of them have aged to 18 now—it just makes sense in my head lol. Mika feels like an 18 year old; mostly because of his relationship with Huffman. Amber seems vaguely adult-ish, I'd say 19 or so, maybe 20 during shadows amidst snowstorms in 2.3. there's some logic behind this that ties into her search for her grandfather but it's like vague and hazy in my head. I haven't given much thought to Noelle and Sucrose— Sucrose also gives "vaguely adult" vibes, idk if her character story about wanting to make a wonderland to meet her past friends in has any relevance to timeline estimation. I'd say Noelle also falls into the vague adult age range, but to me she's a puzzle, because her personality seems incongruent to how I thought she might act if she's like 23 or so.
anyways, anon if you read all this i will declare my love for you. thanks for giving me an excuse to genuinely think on this and then dump my thoughts out for the internet. you can clearly see none of my braincells really go towards Mondstadt headcanons but I hope you're happy w my response ehe

Renruki Week Day 4: Zanpakutou
It took me so long to come up with a workable idea for this one, which made me double-mad because I love writing zanpakutou nonsense. I eventually realized it's because I like writing longform zanpakutou nonsense, slowburn zanpakutou nonsense, if you will. Anyway, here's a vignette set somewhere amidst my Heart is a Muscle series, somewhere around or after Call Me Back When the War is Over, which features Akon discovering that Rukia and Renji's reiatsu is weirdly similar and subsequently trying to study them like a pair of bugs. You shouldn't need to read that to enjoy this, though, just a general appreciation of Rukia being a huge troll.
Edit: Forgot to say earlier, but this was somewhat inspired by an interview with Kubo, where he was asked if Zangetsu (OG big-knife Zangetsu) is heavy, and he replied that you swing a zanpakutou with your reiatsu, not your muscles, and that Renji and Ichigo would each find each other's swords to be heavy. So that part, at least, is semi-canon.

🐍 🐒 💪
The second Rukia saw Renji whip his arm back, she hit the dirt in a forward somersault, and then twisted onto her back.
“Bakudou Number Four! Hainawa!” she barked, just as Zabimaru’s lead segment hit the apogee of its arc. The crackling yellow rope of reishi lashed securely around their spiky bits and then, instead of pulling it towards her, Rukia threw.
All manner of colorful language poured out of Renji as he went hurtling through the air after his hapless sword. Rukia gave a quick, vindictive jerk on her spell. Zabimaru did a quick mid-air about-face, abruptly retracting when Renji lost his grip on the hilt. The weapon hit the ground, embedding themself halfway up their picks into the soft dirt of the training field. A few seconds later, Renji hit the ground fifty yards away with a loud grunt and a small cloud of dust.
Rukia stood up and brushed off her hakama feeling very proud of herself.
“That was so uncalled for,” Renji groaned.
“I have observed,” Rukia announced, striding across the field, “that happen to you in actual fights. I wondered how it was accomplished, since my experience is that Zabimaru is outrageously heavy and difficult to deflect.”
Renji sat up and flopped his forearms on top of his knees. There was dirt smeared across his face. “Yes?” he frowned. “And?”
Rukia stopped next to Renji’s blade, standing up in the ground like a flagpole.
“But that’s the nature of a melee-type zanpakutou, isn’t it? It’s heavy, but not to you, because you wield it with your own reiatsu. So I simply had to wait until you threw them in the direction I wanted, and I gave ‘em a little extra push. Just like a hakuda throw!”
Renji attempted to rub the dirt off of his face and only managed to smear it cutely across his nose. “I can ground myself with my reiatsu before I extend Zabimaru, but I lose a lot of mobility that way.” He sighed. “Chalk up one more thing I have to watch out for when I’m fighting you.”
“What kind of fighting partner would I be, if I didn’t spot your weaknesses and help you overcome them?” Rukia teased.
“You could have just mentioned it. You didn’t have to throw me headfirst into the ground to prove your point.”
“I didn’t do it to prove a point. I did it because it was fun.” Rukia glanced over at Zabimaru. “I bet I could pick them up.”
Renji cocked one eyebrow skeptically. “Yeah, I’m sure you could. They’re not too heavy to lift, they’re just too heavy to use. Hisagi and I used to try to fight with each other’s zanpaktou for a lark sometimes. And you know. Resistance training. The zanpakutou hated it and we always ended up injuring ourselves.”
  “You kept trying, though?”
“You know how we are.”
“I do.” Rukia made an expression of mock-hurt. “You let Hisagi hold Zabimaru?”
Renji shrugged. “Look. Go ahead and pick ‘em up. I can tell you want to.”
In fact, she did. Rukia stood up a little straighter, and squared her shoulders. She shifted Sode no Shirayuki to her left hand, and took a good grip on Zabimaru’s hilt. It would have been easier to do with two hands, but that wasn’t the point. She gave a strong jerk. The dirt around the base buckled a little. Rukia wrinkled her nose and tried again. This time, the sword shifted significantly, but still stuck in the ground.
Renji watched all this with calmly lidded eyes, not saying a word.
Rukia gave one more strong wrench, forcing a little extra reiatsu down her arm, and Zabimaru finally broke free.
“Nice job!” Renji announced, making no motion to get up.
Now that she had Zabimaru in hand, Rukia realized that carrying them presented its own problem. Rukia was too short to hold them vertically, but if she held it horizontally, the moment-arm of the heavy end segments was agonizing on her forearm muscles.
Renji continued to watch her in silent amusement. Bastard.
Rukia took a deep breath, and swung, heaving Zabimaru up onto her shoulder, the way she’d seen Renji carry them many times. It wasn’t comfortable, but it was at least bearable. “There we go!” she declared cheerfully.
Renji let out a loud laugh. “You’ve proved your point, you menace, now give me back my sword before they bite you.”
“You’re such a worrywart!” Rukia chided, walking over to him anyway. “Zabimaru loves me!”
“The only thing Zabimaru loves is causing me grief,” Renji replied, holding out his hand.
“Here, give her some attention before she starts getting jealous,” Rukia said, pressing Sode no Shirayuki into his hand instead.
“Rukia!” Renji yelped. “Eep, she’s cold!” He quickly rearranged his legs so he could set Shirayuki across his knees. “There you go, beautiful,” he said gently to the sword. “I’m so sorry about her, but I’m sure you already know.” He glared up at Rukia. “You can’t just go around handing your unsealed zanpakutou to people!”
Rukia snorted. “She only pretends not to like you to piss me off.” She swung Zabimaru down into a two-handed grip she could just barely manage. “Now let’s see how much you like me.”
“Rukia, you can’t,” Renji warned, although the seriousness in his voice was belied by the fact that he was trying to arrange Sode no Shirayuki’s ribbon artistically across his lap. “Extending the segments is 100% reiatsu-based. They won’t do it for anyone but me.”
“We have pretty similar reiatsu, though,” Rukia reminded him. “And Akon said it would probably continue to get more similar, because of the power of our phenomenal friendship.”
“Akon said it would take a decade at least,” Renji reminded her.
“He said it usually does. He also said that we’re freaks. I’m gonna try to synch our reiatsu.”
“That only works when we’re not actually trying to do it,” Renji pointed out.
Rukia cleared her mind and tried to think Very Renji Thoughts. Tall, she thought. Immovable. A heart of iron, the depth of the sea.
To her side, she heard Renji sigh, and felt his reiatsu come in underneath hers, a perfect two-part harmony.
Lend me your strength, Zabimaru, Rukia thought to herself. This isn’t actually important, but I know you love a bit.
It wasn’t exactly a voice, but something hummed back, two more parts to the harmony, one even deeper than Renji’s register, and one above him, but below Rukia.
Rukia drew her arms back and slung them forward. “Howl, Zabimaru!” she yelled, for good luck.
The huge sword swung down, nearly taking Rukia’s rotator cuff with it. Time seemed to slow down to molasses. Ponderously, the sword lengthened, like a Kuchiki aunt trying to to touch her toes. From the tip, propagating back to the tsuba, each segment stretched, reached, managing to pull a full millimeter apart from its neighbor. It hung in the air for the briefest of moments, and then, with an absolutely pathetic CHNK-CHNK-CHNK-CHNK, snapped back into place.
Somehow, the sword seemed to have gotten a little lighter.
“I told you I could do it,” Rukia proclaimed triumphantly. “You saw it. You witnessed it.”
“I don’t believe it,” Renji gawped. “I cannot-- Rukia, that was amazing!”
“Thank you,” she preened. “To be fair, I had the advantage of having seen it done before.” With great care (and great difficulty, as well), she managed to get Zabimaru turned around so she could present them back to their owner hilt-first. “Thank you, sir, for the loan.”
“Yeah,” he snorted,” accepting his blade as easily as if they were made of paste and paperboard. “Any time. I guess.” He passed Sode no Shirayuki back, before hefting himself to his feet. “I hope you don’t expect to see me do a Hakuren soon. I’m still in charge of piggyback rides, but the miracles are your department.” He shook his head as he sealed his sword and sheathed it. “Fucking unbelievable, as usual, Kuchiki. Please don’t tell Akon you did that.”
“Oh, your poor ego is in no danger, I shall keep it a secret for now,” Rukia announced primly, putting her sword away as well. “How’s your hand?”
Renji frowned and looked down, stretching his fingers open. “My hand? Nothing happened to my hand. I landed on my head when you threw me.”
“No, when I handed Sode no Shirayuki to you. You said she was cold?”
“Huh? Oh, no, I was just surprised!” He flexed his hand at her. “See? No harm done.”
“Mm,” Rukia nodded thoughtfully. “Kaien tried to pick her up once, you know. I had to take him to the Coordinated Relief Station. Third degree ice burns all the way up his arm. Happened in less than a second.” She shot him her sauciest wink. “I told you she liked you.”
Renji’s mouth fell open. Rukia loved it when he made that face. He looked so stupid but also so very, very cute.
“Come on,” she said. “Let’s go get lunch. After all that hard work, I’m starving.”

Going through the experience of loving the trigun anime as a child but realizing you forgot like 60% of what happens in it. Hornfreaker?!? Is not manga only??? He Was in the anime??? And somehow, I forgot about the saxophone assassin??!?
(But on a different note I’m very interested to see if Vash as the Most Tortured Soul Ever is the same in each adaptation vs the manga? I don’t remember that being the case in the 90’s show but apparently I’ve forgotten everything about the Gun Ho Guns arc. I love comic adaptations! And I’m enjoying your comics posting!)
like most of the gung ho guns he doesn't actually do much, so i could definitely see why you might have forgotten about him. the silly glee i feel whenever i see the word HORNFREAK or drawings of him blasting on his saxophone mid-battle tho... it's unmatched.
yeah i have no idea how the adaptations play it! but i want to acknowledge that i tend to feel indifferent to actively annoyed by shonen anime special boy main characters, so i'm probably being overly aware/critical of whenever other characters look at him and explicitly go "wow... how are you still smiling despite it all. damn... what a guy"
Tumblr media
sorry i just think it's so corny when you say it out loud like this. also i really wish in general the girls had more going on for them besides special boy commentary. maybe they come back later and do? fingers crossed?

tired but i'll do a bit of this (will be a bit rambly:D)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
24,, wow not bad
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
165.5k wow thats a lot,, most of it comes from one tho; everything else are shortfics
3. What fandoms do you write for?
DSMP and ive just started a bit of genshin at the behest of my Tartaglia-obsessed irl and he's kinda cool but like for 95% of my other fics its all cdream ahahahhh(dies)
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
"Consequences" tops the charts obviously bc its my one and only longfic and it was written during the peak of dsmp and man id link it bc i love my storyline (cdream obviously gets messed up in prison but then gets a healing arc) there but at the same time i feel like the writing had too many grammar mistakes and could be better so nahh
"North Star to Freedom" is one im actually really proud of, like obviously the writing could be better bc ive improved, but i just like it and id deffo rewrite it too if i had time or steal it into an original fic (premise is that cdream escapes prison with the rebibe book and oh lord my lingo anyways (spoilers) he dies and he gives techno book)
"Persevere" is third, wow that's a long time ago, its alright, i like it in general, but it feels almost cheesy. idk. i like it, but i dont like it. its not mixed feelings, but eh. anyways, something about cdream getting captured by the egg which is about to take over the world but he sacrifices himself to cleanse it. the most acute thing i rember about it is that its a 3parter
"Coup de Grace" ok wth i didnt expect this to be on there it was a small little cdream suffering in prison and cphil comes over, sees him in pain, and cough relieves him of it, and i dont like the writing in a specific part of it, but i like it in some other parts, so eh
"turn the claret tides" whoops i forgot what this one was about ok i glanced through the doc its ctechno getting cdream out of prison wow that title was really vague but he gets the letter and things went on.. it was inspired by another fic and happened during the hype of the prison arc which is kinda cool
(man im looking at the amount of fics i want to rewrite but it aint happening sadge)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Sometimes, most of the times nowadays, if it particularly made my day or it has something deep and insightful or literally makes any observation on my fic. sometimes im just too tired to answer,, maybe laziness is a part of it too, but i stare and its like,, i cant generate a response . but nowadays, i do it most of the times bc i appreciate my commenters :D
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
my recent fics mostly have happy endings, but all my pre-like, mid 2023 fics were all sad sad sad. they all ended in cdream dying, one way or the other. so idk which ones the saddest now its been too long,, the one i personally think is the saddest is one that i like, was listening to sad music to, the song being 'sociopath,' an orchestral piece (or was it piano?)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
consequences
8. Do you get hate on your fic?
once on consequences bc that was max cdream apologists vs inniters era
9. Do you write smut?
nop never ever ever
10. Do you write crossovers?
dream + tartaglia is one i wrote in fudging october that i am still trying to find time to continue
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
prob not, if there is, then i wouldnt know of it
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
nope, if there was, i also dont know of it
13. Have you ever co-written a fic?
wow thats crazy that i havent, but idk, teamwork and coordination just go meh when i only share my interests with online people
14. What‘s your all-time favorite ship?
idk i dont do ships but my fav friendship is dream + techno or dream + punz
15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
all my chapter continuations except the tartaglia + dream one i Need to finish that. but also the palace of stone idea will Never Ever get written
16. What’s your writing strengths?
descriptions idk they go lengthy but ive practiced with them a lot so ive gotten kinda good
17. What’s your writing weaknesses?
dialogue, pacing, idk literally everything, i can prob improve on anything and every aspect of my writing rn, and i just need to practice more
19. First fandom you wrote for?
DSMP lmao
20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?
consequences i love the storyline + ending of that one even if the writing couldve been better
