CHARLIE TELL ME ABT PEETAS ART <3
Okay guys. Hold on. Get ready.
One aspect of Peeta's character that I feel is so overlooked/misunderstood is his identity as an artist. In the movies, we don't even really delve into it! The most we get is his painting of Rue in Catching Fire, when in the books we get so much more! And you'd think, with all that in the books, people would understand it a bit better.
But they don't!
This is absolutely zero hate to anyone that does any of these things, this is just my opinion!
When reading fics, it's a common occurrence that people will include Peeta's identity as an artist but not truly understand his art. They will give him a heavily abstract style, describing smears and splatters. To me, this reads as a person who doesn't have as much experience with the fine details of what it means to be an artist. In the books, Peeta is anything but abstract! Katniss describes how he perfectly captures images and scenes from the Games. When you layer that with his talent for hyper realistic camouflage (I will never be over that being attributed to him being a baker in the movies), you come to realize that Peeta is a painter that works in fine, realistic details. Not "sporadic splashes of color," as I've seen in some fics. (Again! No hate! I know not everyone is as deranged about this as me.)
Then that brings me to thinking about specifics. What do I think his art resembles? Well, we know he can do near photo realism. But when he's just working for himself, I think his art takes on more of a romantic style. For many reasons (including the fact that he has a romantic little heart), the first of which being this:
Just look. Look at that. You're telling me Peeta "soft like a sunset" Mellark wouldn't depict his one true love (the sky) like this.
The second reason is that romanticism itself was born in an era of revolution/social change! So not only do I think it fits him stylistically, but it fits him thematically! Look at this! This is the face of romanticism!
(Just think about him depicting his OTHER one true love like this 🤭)
In conclusion, think about Peeta's art however you want. There is no wrong interpretation! This is just my personal idea of his artistic identity.

beast
A short comic about being in love with danger. Featuring my Tav, Vanquish, and Kith'rak Voss from BG3. Although you don't have to know anything about them to enjoy.
TW; nudity, violence, blood, sexual themes
Note: an explanation of the Tir'su used at the end.
Art and words by me.
6 pages
Cover Tir'su:
Nal - spawn/creature/beast; strange one (created by me)
Page 1 Tir'su:
Adilshar - first among many
The meaning of this word ‘first among many’ has different connotations depending on context, and for some githyanki, depending on creche, and even city in the Astral. It can elude to a title, a formality, something a little more casual. I’ve seen githyanki use it to refer to their favourite lover or companion.
However, primarily, thousands of years ago it was used largely by those in a position of power to those below them as a title of honour and singling them out to a special, almost near equal respect. In a way, it was levelling someone to your worth. One of the highest honours of githyanki. The first among many. I see you. I respect you.
(a canon word with an expanded/HC meaning by me)
Page 6 Tir'su:
Z’varc - a derivation of ‘z’vart’rac’, blood insane.
Blood insane to blood lust, but carnal. If you ask a githyanki what it means in common, they’ll probably say something like ‘blood wild’ or ‘bleed me dry, fuck me wet’. Mates and lovers started shortening the original version to this one, and it’s lived on to now heavily through their raiding culture.
(created by me)
The singular Tir'su you see throughout the comic means 'V'.
--------------
Thank you so much for reading. I hope you enjoyed.
This was a bit of a catharthis for me, but also just a labour of love for my OTP. Vanquish is afraid of what love means to her. Voss doesn't really know what it means anymore. They find their answer and comfort together, half-way, when they bleed.

My assumption is that you may like Revolutionary Girl Utena, or maybe you never saw it but have thought about watching it
i actually watched a bit of utena & drew these pieces below! but this was way back in 2016 and i didn't finish the series (like almost everything i watch haha hence why i prefer reading)
it takes a lot of mental energy and effort for me to start a new series (i'm not a binger and i'm very selective of my media), and with how dreamy and abstract utena can be, i really gotta be in the right mood to watch a series like that. it seems the stars just haven't aligned for me to continue it. maybe one day i'll go back...

Okay so, I went ahead and bought an iPad to try digital art for the first time, and my first attempt was shit. I went too far outside my comfort zone and fucked it up BUT!!! I am happy to report I've finished my first official piece! Not sure if any of you have seen those racing au wolfstar/jegulus TikTok’s, but I was inspired to give it a go and did Remus as a street racer (I was only thinking about Ronan lynch the entire time)
For the love of GOD do not look at his helmet or clothes

How did you get into abstract art and what do you love most about it? :-) sorry if the smiley face seems ominous, the question read as "bot" and I was trying to add human flavor.
hi! omg literally do not worry you sound very human :-] i’m a big museum goer and i’ve never disliked abstract art or anything, but i think i really properly got into it when i was around 15 years old and taking an art history class at my school, and i mostly have the artist helen frankenthaler to thank for it! i remember my teacher lecturing about her works the bay & mountains and sea and just staring at them and thinking oh my goodness, this is something special. from there i began to explore color field painting and lyrical abstraction and found that i liked it very much, and then i branched out to learn more about other styles of abstract art and found lots to love there, too, and then i ended up studying art history in university and taking several classes on abstract art. i’ve honestly actually found a lot of artists i love via this website, too.
the other week i was lucky enough that an art museum i visited with my girlfriend had a color field painting exhibit going on, and it was so incredibly exciting for me. we marveled at the textures of some of the more paint drip-heavy pieces, stepped closer to huge canvases to admire the feathered edges of stains bleeding into each other, pointed out our favorite sections of paintings of diaphanous clouds of color, what they made us think about or feel reminded of. this all sounds very cheesy probably, but i think what i love most about abstract art, what i got to experience then, is how each individual person sees a particular piece as something else, something totally unique to them. it gives you so much space to dream! i love figurative art forever & i engage with it more regularly than i do with abstract art, but there is something so unique about the way abstract art challenges conventions, challenges any preconceived notions you might be coming in with, and unabashedly pries open your heart to fill it with unbridled emotion, coaxes you into making connections and observations that you must work to find. um. yeah. thanks for asking! 💝
