But We're Bulletproof
Ship: Castiel/Dean Winchester
Summary: Dean thought he was being fairly obvious with the fact that he and Cas were officially a couple now. But when Sam asks him what his boyfriend's name is, well, where's the fun in telling Sam when he can wait for Sam to figure it out for himself?
Word Count: 2,220
Read on AO3
Dean was no stranger to pranking his brother when the opportunity arose. When it came to how messed up and tragic their lives were, he saw no harm in finding happiness in the little things, like fitting old spoons in his brother’s open mouth.
And, yeah, Dean knew he shouldn’t lie to Sam about major life milestones, like the fact that he and Cas were dating now– the word “dating” felt so weird in his mouth but still managed to turn his insides to sappy mush. But it wasn’t even really lying. Really, it was Sam’s fault for not noticing, because he and Cas had made zero attempts to hide their relationship (and even Jack had commented on it, and Jack was basically a toddler).
No, this wasn’t lying, this was just…a very good opportunity to play a friendly prank on his little brother.
“You said “I love you”,” Sam said as Dean hung up the phone. “Who were you talking to?”

I'm sorry but I'm reading articles about the new Netflix bullshit about password sharing and the phrase "100million users are watching Netflix for free" came up and WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN?!?!
NO. THEY AIN'T. Someome bloody pays for Netflix that's how they watch it, the same way you can go on Amazon or Itunes and buy The Matrix digitally then your fam or your friends or your fucking neighbor Bill can watch it if you so invite him to. Fucking Netflix can fuck right off witht his Bullshit!!
THOSE PEOPLE WHO CAN'T AFFORD NETFLIX AND WATCH YOU STILL WON'T BE ABLE TO WHEN YOU CRACK DOWN. YOU MORONS. YOU WILL NOT GAIN A SINGLE SUBSCRIBER.
But if this stupid "Subaccount" charge become a thing I know they're bloody gonna lose some! In my place I pay for Disney+ My siter pays for Netflix. We do not live together. But MY GOD If they start sub charging for me I will tell my sister to delete my profile if not outright advise her to cancel her subscription to this fucking greedy shitbag.
My GOD! I am not pro nor anti capitalism I'm on the side of it's a mixed bag but FUCK ME I HATE GREEDY CORPORATIONS.
This grow grow grow profit thing is fucking disgusting. Building a business and growing profits for the the first few years I find completely acceptable BUT when you reach as steady profit margin, you're making plenty of cash to not only keep you going but to make a good chunk a change each year? FUCKING STOP. Thats it. Thats ya money take it and be BLOODY GRATEFUL.
Also probs keep some extra aside at all times so if ya company takes a hit or some u forseen problem comes up ya got excess cash to plug the hole DONT GIVE OUT A MILLION BONUSES TO YA SELF AND SIX FRIENDS AND THEN BE LIKE OH BUT THERE ARE OTHER STREAMIBG SERVICES NOW WAH WAH WAH.
piss. off.

By Mike Glyer
Widespread outrage greeted Patreon’s announcement of a new fee structure that will charge patrons (donors) for making donations, too, on top of the existing 5% fee paid by creators.
Now patrons will be charged processing and transaction fees (2.9% + $0.35) on each individual pledge. If you pay a dollar, Patreon will charge you $0.38 to pay that dollar, so you’ll now pay $1.38.
The news was rolled out through creators yesterday, and today Patreon sent donors a justification:
In order to continue our mission of funding the creative class, we’re always looking for ways to do what’s best for our creators. With that, we’re writing to tell you of a change we’re making so that all Patreon creators take home exactly 95% of every pledge, with no additional fees.
Aside from Patreon’s existing 5% fee, a creator’s income on Patreon varies because of processing fees every month. They can lose anywhere from 7-15% of their earnings to these fees. This means creators actually take home a lower percentage of your pledge than you may realize. Our goal is to make creators’ paychecks as predictable as possible, so we’re restructuring how these fees are paid.
Natalie Luhrs’ detailed analysis of the change, “Funny Money, Patreon Style”, illustrates how the new fee structure will affect various levels of donations.
I know this is going to read like the world’s worst word problem, but bear with me–there will be a data table, I promise….
After running the numbers, Luhrs speculated about the motives for the change:
As I said before, this seems calculated to reduce the number of people pledging at sub-$5/month tiers. This has the added bonus of putting more cash right into Patreon’s bank accounts. Which will certainly make the investors happy, as this improves Patreon’s cash flow and improves the chances for a successful IPO.
And the other thing it does? It tells all of Patreon’s users–creators and patrons alike–exactly who is calling the shots and what the real priorities are. And they’ve chosen to do it in a disgustingly predatory fashion.
Sandra Tayler criticized the fee implementation for the way it damages the creator/donor social dynamic:
It is the "presented as a gift" aspect that I had a problem with. They would have done better with an appeal of "sorry we need to change our funding model in order to be able to continue providing this service."
They also inserted themselves clumsily into the relationship between creator and patron, creating a potential disruption. That broke the social contract they had with creators.
Patreon has also scripted a FAQ creators can put on their pages to aid in handling queries from donors, with melancholy but inevitable entries like —
Q: How much time do I have to change my pledge before the change?
A: You have until December 31st, 2017 to edit a monthly pledge. If you are pledging to a per-creation creator who makes a post between December 18th and December 31st, then you will see the service fee added to those posts.
Q: How can I cancel my pledges?
A: You can find the steps to cancel your pledges here.
Indeed, a lot of creators are tweeting about casualties among their donors. For example, here’s a gaming podcast that says it’s taking a hit.
Douglas MacKrell further observed —
And what’s worrisome is that supporters who leave the @Patreon platform aren’t going somewhere else. That audience isn’t hopping over to support other artists at the same level – they’re leaving the world of microdonating all together.
The webcomics blog Fleen has a great summary of the online reaction. And they conclude —
What’s really surprised me (apart from the ham-handedness about the entire rollout that I noted yesterday) is that I couldn’t find one personwith an interest in Patreon that’s even neutral on this change. I’ve spent all my free time since last night trying to find one person — creator or backer — whose irritation went no higher than meh, whatcha gonna do? But no; literally everybody whose email address doesn’t end in @patreon.com hates everything about this change.
Outraged author Liz Bourke, Tor.com columnist and past Best Fan Writer Hugo nominee, has taken the extreme step of interrupting her Patreon activities and cutting off donations in protest — “On Hiatus Because Of Patreon’s (Gaslighting) Changes To Fee Structure”.
If Patreon wanted to increase that commission in order to cover their costs and make a reasonable profit, I’d understand. (I’d be annoyed, but I’d understand: commission of 10-20% is not unreasonable for services that connect people who make things to people with the money to pay for them.)
Instead, what they’re doing is changing the entire system. They’re now charging you for accessing a service that benefits me, and telling both you and me lies to make us believe this is a good change.
People who lie about money are not people who can be trusted to handle your money.
So. I’m on hiatus. Funding status has been switched over to per-post, so you shouldn’t be charged at the end of the month. I’m not going to do any work here, and I encourage other creators to take the same stance. If Patreon makes sufficient efforts towards honesty and transparency, I may return.
But I’m not holding my breath.
Bourke isn’t the only one taking this approach –
Ethan Kocak@Blackmudpuppy
Hey everyone I've pledged to/received support from on @Patreon. Because Patreon has decided to overcharge folks who were kind enough to support me I am suspending all activity on the platform until further notice. More to follow.
9:11 AM - Dec 7, 2017
Will Patreon’s competitors benefit from the controversy? Catherine Shu at Tech Crunch looked at the big picture:
Patreon, which was founded in 2013 and has raised about $107 million in funding so far, says it has more than one million subscribers who pay an average of $12 per month to more than 50,000 creators. Its success prompted Kickstarter to retool Drip, its subscription service for independent musicians, to compete more directly with Patreon. Other rival crowdfunding platforms for creators include Flattr and Steady.
While creators can ask supporters for pledges on their own using PayPal, Stripe and other payment services, Patreon’s ease of use, thanks to tools like its API, and popularity helps many make an income (or at least not lose money) from their art. This is especially important for creators who rely on YouTube, but saw their revenue plunge this year as a result of changes to its advertising policies—(an event known as the “adpocalypse“). For them, Patreon’s new service fees represent a potential double whammy and are yet another reminder that the online platforms that help them make a livelihood can also very quickly take it away.
[Thanks to ULTRAGOTHA, JJ, and Camestros Felapton for the story.]

tagged by @aizawashoutah, @shitabukenjirou, and @foxyena !! thank u guys so much~
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
hajime = haji, iwaizumi = iwa, haji + iwa = hajiiwa~ i love my mans but not many people understand my username
(the rest will go under the cut!)
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos)
huh, well
FMK technically has the most hits and kudos (something i am a little disgruntled about, seeing as it was not a fic i worked very hard on), only fools has the most comments, kaminari is a schemer has the most bookmarks, and of fountains and flowers has the most subscriptions so idk what to tell you. i wish ofaf had more recognition bcos i’ve worked hard on it rip
3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
it’s kuroo!! and i just chose it bc i Love him and it was an icon i made that i sorta liked so
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
yes and i love them all!! seeing names that consistently pop up in my kudos/comments section really warms my heart <33 i’ve made good friends that way tbh
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
uhh there are many that i like to go back and read, mainly by my fav authors that i’m subscribed to
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
bookmarked: 53 subscribed: honestly, i... don’t really subscribe to works? i’m subscribed to 8 authors tho
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
oooh, probably... medieval aus or domestic magic aus? and slice of life
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
Subscriptions: 80 (rip, i didn’t know if u meant user subs or work subs so i combined and it’s still a tiny number) Bookmarked: 203
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
umm... i don’t think so?
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
finishing current projects before taking on new ones, avoiding burnout, the usual
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
well i’ll go based on haikyuu since those works take up the majority-- iwaoi is set firmly in first place based on number of works followed by bokuroo, both of which are fairly popular so i’d say that i lean more toward the bigger ships but i also have works for kurooiwa, iwaaka, tengoshi, etc
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
22! that number fluctuates a ton because i’m very impulsive and if a fic doesn’t receive the recognition i feel it deserves/i no longer like it/etc i take it down
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
that i have yet to publish? too many.
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
i normally keep them in my head, unless i think they’ll turn into something bigger and then i’ll jot them down!
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
not yeeet~ @frenchibi have plans to tho. i have tried to co-author in the past but it mever worked out
16. How did you discover AO3?
when i graduated from using wattpad,, fun fact, there is so much smut on there that i legitimately thought ao3 was just used to write porn. i was both horrified and confused
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?
lol
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
no...? this question assumes that i would be Popular (honestly do fanfic writers even have “fandom names” for their readers?? im)
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
not really, no. i stated writing fanfics when i was really young on my own, unprompted, and i’ve met other authors through that medium that have helped me?
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
interact with other writers! i know it seems daunting, but leave comments, go to spaces where you will find other writers, participate in events-- there are few feelings more satisfying than seeing familiar names pop up, either in your notifications or in a group you’re in. most of the time, they’re all very kind and you won’t regret letting them into your life!
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
i plot out almost always, though this sort of bites me in the ass. it bores me when i’m writing to already “know” what’s going to happen and that’s why i lose steam. it’s weird
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
sort of. i write a lot of angst and i’ve gotten quite a few “fuck you author” comments-- most of the time they’re paired with “for making me feel these feelings” or “for writing something so sad” or some shit but i don’t appreciate that bc, like, fuck you too? i’m sorry that you felt the need to cuss me out?? i tag pretty liberally and if you felt that you couldn’t handle the topic i was writing about then you shouldn’t have clicked
unless it’s, like-- a friend or regular going “fffuCK YOU AHHH” which HAS happened and makes me snicker lmao
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
huh. i’m trying to become more proficient in the Big Three (smut, angst, and fluff) and thus far i’ve got one of three down p good. but specific scenes i have trouble writing would have to be scenes in which i have zero experience and pretty much have to improvise-- it helps me grow as a writer, ig, but it’s just frustrating
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
the rest of the writers’ inktober prompts
a fic wars piece with @frenchibi
a post breakup iwaoi
of fountains and flowers final chapter
a handful of voltron fics, 4 of them sheith
alien!iwaizumi
maaaany half-abandoned drafts
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
YES AND IT IS TERRIBLE SOMEONE STOP ME
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
nah. motivation is fickle and i don’t want to make writing a chore. writer’s inktober was hard enough (it’s december and i am still not done :,)
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
considering i started on wattpad, yes lmao. i’d like to think that i have since i’ve been on ao3 but hahjajhjkh
28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written?
i reeeeally liked writing a bit of magic is key and three’s a crowd because they were both humorous domestic magic aus~ but i’ve liked most things i’ve written tbh. also, obviously, of fountains and flowers.
29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written?
that i’ve posted? i honestly don’t know. maybe you can be so stupid sometimes because i was just starting to write iwaoi and i now hate the way i portrayed them, not to mention that this dumb little fic has more kudos than my recent stuff and i just *clenches fist* don’t think it deserves that
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
not sure. maybe i’ll have ofaf finished by then hahah,, but really i don’t know. writing is a tool but fanfic writing is just a hobby
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
i’m pretty good at writing emotionally charged situations. also dialogue, i find banter or long back-and-forth conversations fairly easy
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
transitions, justification of characters’ actions. the hardest thing writing-related would be fighting through envy and feelings of inadequacy but i experience the former plenty anyway rip
33. Why do you write?
i write because i enjoy it-- i love creating my own worlds, interacting with other writers, living vicariously through my characters
well, that was fun! i’ll tag @frenchibi, @astersandstuffs, @minyardxva, @josai

Question tag for AO3 writers~~
I found the original questions on AFF a while back, and I thought since I’ve been tagged in so many meme things lately, I’d also tag a bunch more people in this one XD Since the questions were designed for AFF, I’ve reworked some of them to fit for AO3 writers. I also removed two questions rather than trying to translate them to AO3 terms. So, I’ll fill out my answers first, and then put the blank questions again at the bottom for you to easily copy and paste!
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
SIFU_HOTMAN because Zuko is one of my favorite characters and honestly Aang calling him “Sifu Hotman” is hilarious.
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos)
Exactly My Type by a long shot, lol.
3. What is your AO3 profile icon and why did you choose it?
It’s Izaya Orihara to represent the trash on my page.
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
Yes! I’m shocked when I read through my comments and see how often the same people will comment on each chapter. And there are definitely one or two that I look forward to seeing. I recognize a ton of usernames on AO3 but I don’t know many of them on here.
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
THIS fic by the super-talented @courtingstars! I swear I’ve reread this fic like 6 dozen times at this point, as well as the sequel! (For real tho, I could probably recite this fic word for word, I love it so much. AkaFuri fans, if you haven’t checked it out, I can’t recommend it enough!)
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
I’m guilty of not subbing or bookmarking that much, because it got to the point where I had so many that it kinda made it pointless, lol. But I’m subscribed to 2 users, and 5 fics, and I have 46 bookmarks.
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
I don’t really write AU’s all that much? (I think I only have 2, the Nanny/Single Parent AU and a Red String of Fate AU). I definitly want to try doing more tho! I was super nervous about the Nanny/Single Parent one, but now it’s my hightest hitting fic! And it was from a prompt! lol
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
Total bookmarks: 311 Total subs: 337
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
The only thing I can think of right now is I want to get better/ more comfortable with writing smut lmao. I’ll conquer it one day!
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
Updating better, for sure. It eats me alive that it’s been almost a year since I started Exactly My Type, and I’ve only written 5 chapters! It’s so hard to find time with all the overtime at work, and with everything else. BUT that’s something I definitely plan on changing.
And maybe replying to comments? I generally don’t reply (I feel so bad about this, I’m so sorry. Comments just make me an incoherent mess and I’m never sure how to reply without rambling and making an idiot of myself)
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
Is AkaFuri a rarepair? I know it was more considered one a while ago, but I don’t know anymore. I guess whatever category they fall under, that’s it lol.
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
Eight! Which is eight more than I thought I would write.
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
I have 30 stories saved on Google Docs. (I’m shocked? lmao)
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
Everything in my head. My ten hour shifts at work mostly consist of me staring off into space and writing fan fiction in my head.
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
Other than bouncing ideas off of a friend, no. It sounds fun tho!
16. How did you discover AO3?
Searching for ATLA fanfiction like, 4 years ago. After reading everyting FanFiction.net had to offer, I found AO3 and immediately made the switch.
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?
God, no lmao. I think I’m IN the AkaFuri barrel, but far from the top of it.
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
Not that I know of? I get comments about how much people like my username sometimes, so I’m cool with it if people just wanna call me Sifu Hotman lmao.
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
My inspiration mainly came from a desire for more AkaFuri fics, lmao. But there were a few amazing writers who reallllly made me want to try writing, and I was encouraged plenty by my best friend, so here I am lol.
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
To just write. I worried for so long (and I still do) about not being good enough, or making a mistake, or failing. But the only way to get better at writing is to write! If someone doesn’t like you’re story, odds are you’ll either get some helpful advice, or feedback on the part they did like. Even if you don’t want to post it publicly, just write it out anyway. I think I’ve improved so much since the first thing I wrote, and I hope I get even better the more I do it.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
Again, spending 10 hours a day, 5 days a week in my own head, I get most of my stories down to the tiniest details before I even get to a computer. Once I sit down, some things may change or come out different, but I rarely go to write without having any idea.
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
Actually... no, I don’t think I have.
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
Smut, for sure lol.
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
Fucking chapter 6 of Exactly My Type! (I just broke 6K the other day, and it’s not even halfway done). After that, I’m on to Defying Fate, with a couple of prompts inbetween.
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
Sorta...I guess. Exactly My Type happened because of a prompt request that got waaaay out of control, so that was poor planning on my part lmao.
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
Not at all. I just go for it whenever I get the chance.
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
100% yes. I want to crawl into a hole whenever I think about my first fic, lol.
28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written?
I’m gonna shove the AkaFuri away for a second and go with Absolutely Baked. Mayuzumi is my favorite character to write for, and I think I got some pretty funny dialogue in that one. It makes me laugh, and the extra chuckles my friend and I got while discussing it were totally worth it.
29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written?
I don’t think I have a least favorite? If I had to pick probably my first fic, Emperor's Weakness.
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
Hopefully still writing fanfiction, lol. I would like to try writing some original work, but I doubt it.
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
Dialogue, I think. Once I get in a characters head, I find it very easy to write from their point of view.
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
Getting a full plot to run together. I’m pretty good at getting certain scenes down, but I have trouble piecing them all together sometimes.
33. Why do you write?
Simply, because it’s fun. I know how happy it makes me when I read a super-awesome fic, and I like the feeling I get when someone tells me I gave them the same feeling.
Anyways that’s all the questions, so I’ll put them here as well without the answers to easily c+p.
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean? 2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos) 3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it? 4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters? 5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again? 6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked? 7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most? 8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page) 9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!) 10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc. 11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often? 12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)? 13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program? 14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head? 15. Have you ever co-authored a story? 16. How did you discover AO3? 17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3? 18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers? 19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write? 20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author? 21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go? 22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do? 23. Another Twitch.tv rant
So as you know I did a mini twitch rant a while ago but I have a new rant that I want to talk about everything and add more detail and I want to get this off my chest.
And this rant won't be petty like me ranting about Twitch name changes or Streamers using silly AFK screen because that is petty and sad...Real sad.
Tumblr media
So as of late-- Wait
HEY; STOP: IF YOU HATE LONG RANTS OR JUST HATE RANTS AT ALL, GO ELSEWHERE. THANK YOU!
Table of CONTENTS
let's go back to were streamers was fun to be around
Let's fall down the hole
Small streamers get bigger
So what happens after they get bigger
Twitch affiliate and oh boy
Hi there, White knights?
What I learned at the end of this rant
1 let's go back to were streamers was fun to be around
But before I do start. THIS IS A RANT, I will talk about that later. Remember this as this will be relevant, later in the post.
Let's go back to a time where streamers were nice and they wanted to be your friends or the least try to support you and be there.
2013 was a good year to meet streamers and a good year to be a streamer, cause this was a time where people was there to help you out more or less while at the same time, streamers were just trying to find their place on twitch.
I joined twitch in 2013 and it was a good time for me to join the Twitch scene but It was cause of hyper, when I found out he had a twitch, I joined and it was a good time after I started to find my place here but at the time I was SonikGameMaster
And I met a shit ton of Twitch.tv streamers who were small and friendly and most of them were fun and just starting out, I met people I am glad I met and people I regret meeting
Granted, I have met most under the account "SonikGameMaster" which I then later made a new account named "Sonikmage" And met the rest of the streamers, for better or worse.
2 Let's fall down the hole
So, streamers are still being helpful and going to smaller channels to support them and watching them cause as you know. Watching a streamer, chatting, tweeting out their stream page helps out more than you know.
And every bit of help for small streamers is always nice, you make them feel like when they stream, it's not a wasted effort and every small streamer loves to know that their time is not in vain when it comes to streaming.
And this is 2014 where Twitch gave everyone, the host option that can let a caster or viewer, host their streamer of choice, which is an another way to support the streamers you watch.
The idea for hosting was for casters or viewers to host their favorite streamer and join and chat with your favorite streamer while with your friends, This worked for a while then later this Idea was ruined.
Instead of watching the streamer you wanted to support, People would come host but leave after the host. Yeah, 20 + viewers are nice and all but more than likely, they will leave, which at that point feels like an insult in itself.
Tumblr media
You host someone after a stream
But can't bother to stay more than 1 or 2 mins
And you feel hosting is nice, Hosting has value, just not much to it to be honest.
To add salt to the wound, your followers/viewers will leave right after, which makes your Host, A waste of time, which would make someone wonder, why even host in the first place.
3 Small streamers get bigger
To help out smaller streamers, You can watch their stream, you can share their stream, you can host them and stay and chat with them, you can chat with them, give them shoutouts from time to time, you can raid them with viewers, hanging out with them as they stream helps in a way.
You can even make them things, or offer to take time out your day to make them channel layouts or overlays, you can buy them things which are up to you but it can help. Just remember this, as it will come up later.
As the small streamers get bigger, they start to get noticed more often by semi bigger streamers or big streamers which will help them grow their channel which is fine and all.
Their personality changes.
Tumblr media
Their fans or viewers will be there to support them with whatever they do if it is a dumb move or smart move.
Now that the small guys are now semi big guys, they are going to hang out with the bigger guys more than the smaller guys. It makes sense if you stream or hang out with the bigger streamers, that is going to help you out in some way which can help your channel grow
Being friends with a bigger streamer can have its rewards if the bigger streamer is friends with bigger streamers or higher ups or have favorites
But where does that leave the small guys, Unless you are an upcoming Sonic Speedrunner or an upcoming speedrunner which they are going to support them, no doubt,
But for those, who are not an upcoming speedrunner or ex-speedrunner, then you are for the most part on your own.
Which does suck when you have the small guys who go from small to big streamers and it's like, what about the small guys? But hey, fuck the small guys right when you can hang with the bigger guys.
I suppose it's normal when you help small guys become one of the big guys, they will or may change for the worst but then when they have friends and fans/viewers who encourage this will make things worst.
I really do feel most streamers lose sight of their way when their goal is to aim for the top and I don't mind, when people want to do well and that is fine, but don't forget the mall people who were there and hell, did their best to support you when you was still growing.
4 So what happens after they get bigger
Well, let's see what happens, they will have a fan base. They will have an ego, Helping out the smaller guys is not cool but helping out bigger guys is cool and has a bigger payout and you know, bigger streamer need to protect their "Image"
They can't be seen talking to smaller streamer cause that's is just bad to do unless the bigger streamer is friends with the smaller streamer.
As they get bigger, they tend to forget that you are their friend, things you have done for them or tried to support them or nice stuff for them and hell wishing them a Happy birthday, something small as that is just gone and forgotten..
Tumblr media
But will they return the favorite? Like hell they would, If you are lucky, at most they will host you and stay for about 2 to 3 mins, making the host pointless and at worse, they will lurk in your chat for 1 to 2 mins, Not even so much as a hi or hello.
I guess keeping up your "image" takes top priority over everything because you know, watching men and woman speedrun a game then blame said game like an idiot and yell at said game is so much better.
They love that you come watch them stream or speedrun, They are happy to get hosts or get people chatting during streams, getting raided by a small streamer or a big streamer. getting silly gifts or having people saying something as simple as "Happy Birthday" they love that as well.
So you would think, all of this said and done that they would do one of these things for their friends, you know, the small guys. I'm sorry "friends" but to answer, they will be glad to help out but It's selectively on who they want to help out and favorites play a role.
You can be their "friend" as they call you and try to do your best for them but still get shit on because it's a waste of time, it's why I don't even try to bother anymore cause, why waste my time trying to be "friends" with someone who doesn't care to return the favor
Like I said, it's fine when people want to grow and gain more out of twitch and find their place but don't shit on the smaller guys cause you were in their shoes at one time and it does burn and hurt.
5 Twitch affiliate and oh boy
So, let's see.. Twitch lower the requirements that is needed to earn Partnership which can grant a user a subscribe button where users can pay 4.99 to support a stream or pay a bit more to really support them
But to add to this, Twitch also added the "Twitch affiliate" program, where if you can also have 5 or 10 viewers per stream that you can join this program where you get bits which are with normally twitch partners, but they are part of this program.
Think of it as a half a sub button program. You can get bits but you are not a partner so that is a thing. Now this is not a problem but this is not going to help the egos of the big streamers who are not partnered
And I'm sure this will make things worse by giving the big streamers a bigger ego but greedy down the line, but I want to see how this will play out but who knows, things may still be the same
Tumblr media
6 Hi there, White knights?
Oh hi, I am sure someone has posted this somewhere and made this seem like this rant was aimed at someone or "This post is mean and so rude :( It made me cry" or "This person made a rant aimed at me..." Or you were sent by your leader, no questions asked to yell "Why would you say such bad things about my streamer?!"
See, At the start, I said "But before I do start. THIS IS A RANT, I will talk about that later. Remember this as this will be relevant, later in the post."
People tend to hate when others make rants about them and tend to confuse a Rant or vent for an attack on someone, which is sad. Give your opinion on someone, instead of talking it out with themselves, they will get someone else to do it which always backfires and makes things worse.
So I will make this clear as I can. This is not an attack on any streamer, but it is aimed for at a few streamers but you know. "WHY ARE YOU RANTING ABOUT MY FAVORITE STREAMER?!?!" Or something to that effect in caps. lol.
It's funny when you have "Friends" who say, they will be by your side but then turn around to try to tell you what you can and can't say. I love you guys but telling me what I can and can't say is rude when I listen to you say shit I would say no to
They are friends but white knights but oh well, don't get in my way and there will be no problems. But this is the internet.
Tumblr media
7 What I learned at the end of this rant
I learned that most streamers when starting out are fun to be around but when they get a big ego and become a big streamer then you are kicked to the side like trash.
I learned not to trust every streamer I see as it can or will backfire
When a streamer calls you a friend, doesn't mean you are a friend
Big streamers care about being at the top with other big streamers
If you are a friend to a small stream but they get big, you do get forgotten
Streamers of these days are manipulative at times, they will play dirty and will backstab people if they need to get by or get the chance to.
Small guys are fucked over. But some small streamer is not completed fucked over as there are teams they can join.
Do I feel like streamers owe me anything? no. They are not my friends, they are just Twitch personalities to me. Strangers.
My longest rant to date and this has been a rant I been wanting to do for a while now.
And I may be a small guy but at least if I know I get fucked over, which that has already happened, lol. I have great Best friends like Mastakirby, Hyper, Zomb1e Noob, Evan, Tigre and SBC and others. :P
I won't be shocked if I get some dumb tweet from a White knight cause someone misread this post. lol. But that's fine, my blog and I am free to say what I please.
I guess one more thing I can say is, Twitch is like an RPG, You gain followers and you get stronger and you can make friends but once someone is too strong then the weak are left behind and forgotten, till they are needed.
So thanks for reading~

The issue of compilation videos
This is an issue that’s been burning in me for a while, but recently it’s come back into focus for me. It’s got me frustrated to the point of distraction right now and I haven’t been able to finish the stupid video I was supposed to this morning, so I’ve just got to vent. I’ll (hopefully) end up doing a video essay on this at some point, but for now I’ll put the written out version here on Tumblr. Warning: VERY long post beneath the cut.
So this morning I was contacted by a channel called Undertale Comic TV (x). They are a channel that specializes in compiling the works of other comic dubbers and putting them into longer videos. They have about 250,000 subscribers, topping even big-league comic dubbers like Supershadic x250 and @starbotdubs (sorry for the tag out of the blue, but if I recall correctly you don’t take kindly to compilation videos either, so I ((hoped)) you wouldn’t mind).
To be fair, this particular channel doesn’t outright steal the content of other users. They ask permission first, as they did to me. Here is the email I got:
Tumblr media
I’ve actually been contacted by these people before, though back then it was a message on YouTube. I declined, because there are certain things I know about YouTube and what these channels are about that make me unwilling to give permission to feature my content.
Now, I’ll be perfectly honest here: as a channel with a mere 5k subscribers, the prospect of having my stuff featured on a channel with 250k subs is very, VERY tempting. And I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t seriously considered it both then and now. This time I was a bit intrigued at the bit about offering my voice for their own personally created dubs. Though from what I can tell from their recent videos, their own personal dubs are still a very small part of the videos they put out.
So why turn it down, you ask? Well, first of all, compilation videos have been around for a long time. That’s another story for another day, but I didn’t start seeing really heavily monetized compilation videos until I started watching comic dubs, and channels like Undertale Comic TV and Hub Cinema started popping up. Now, these channels aren’t mere fanmade compilations to celebrate the creators. If you look at their videos, they monetize the SHIT out of them, and do everything they can to use YouTube’s algorithms to their advantage.
For those who don’t know: YouTube has changed the way their search algorithms work in the last couple of years to favor longer videos that come out more frequently. The average number of minutes watched on video is now favored over sheer number of views. This is because longer videos can get more ads slapped onto them, making them more lucrative. MatPat did a great video in December last year (here) explaining these changes and their reasons more in depth.
So you’ll notice with UT Comic TV’s videos that most of them are pretty long compared to your average “comic dub,” between about 12 and 22 minutes. You’ll also notice (if you aren’t using Youtube Red or AN ADBLOCKER *waggles finger*) that there are often multiple ad breaks throughout the video, like so:
Tumblr media
SIX ad breaks in one 22 minute video. Now I do monetize my videos, and my hard and fast rule is if a video is 15 minutes or less I’ll only do the little banner ads and sponsor cards. But if a video is 15 minutes or more, I’ll also do one video ad on the start. I don’t do any in the middle because I find that very obtrusive, and it would interfere with the viewing experience I want to offer my subscribers. I do it on the longer videos because they take a lot longer to produce (a 1 hour video can take 6-8 hours or more, depending on lots of stuff).
I know for a fact that they could be doing even MORE ads, but that’s still a lot of monetization per video.
Now, I have an interactive portion I’d like you all to help me with. Right now, open up YouTube in another tab, and search for “undertale comic dub.” What comes up first? Why, Undertale Comic TV of course! That’s a bit skeezy, don’t you think? Not Supershadic, not Starbot, not Namelessdubs, not any of the original content creators on the whole first page of search results. You get Namelessdubs if you go to the second page, but mostly it’s just UT Comic TV and Hub Cinema.
That’s happening because, as I said before, they are making their videos in the way YouTube likes--long and clickbaity. Lots of tags, lots of uppercase letters, and lots of ads on them. The search and recommendation algorithms favor their videos, even above the original content creators themselves.
And again, they aren’t STEALING videos, they are asking permission first. From what I can tell by asking those whose stuff they’ve featured, they are truly only featuring those who have given permission to use their content. And they do credit the original creators, link them in the description, and even tell their viewers go out and support them. So it looks like it SHOULD be legit, right? They’re just out to promote comic dubbers, RIIIIIGHT?!?!?!
Here’s the thing, though. They aren’t out to support comic dubbers. They’re out to make money. If the people who give them permission to use their videos get any more notoriety due to being featured on their channel, that is merely a happy accident. Undertale Comic TV isn’t one Undertale superfan named “David, David” just out to bring recognition to all the great voice actors out there.
Given the sheer volume of videos they put out, this is clearly a group of people, probably a small company. They are making a decent chunk of change recycling other people’s content. And in order to do so, they are using YouTube’s moneymaking algorithms to their advantage, elbowing original content out of the way in the process.
Before I go any further, let me say this is not at all meant to call out anyone who has given permission for UT Comic TV, or Hub Cinema, or anyone like that to use their content. They aren’t the problem here, and as far as I’m concerned are also victims of this ring of entrepreneurs.
Perhaps the most sinister thing they are guilty of is asking permission of YouTubers who are younger, like say 13 and 14 years old. Comic dubbers this young are not old enough to monetize their own videos, without getting their parents or guardians involved. So these channels are using the content of those who do not or cannot monetize their videos in order to make money. And you’ll notice in that email up there, they never once mention the fact that they monetize their videos.
So that is why I don’t like compilation channels, and why I will never give my permission for one to use my content. They claim to be about supporting content creators, but at best they’re making free money off other people’s work with their permission. At worst they’re outright stealing other people’s work, and making as much money as they can before they get shut down and have to start over.
Just as I’m not trying to call out those who contribute videos to them, I’m not writing all this to scold everybody who subscribes to these compilation channels or watches their videos. What I am saying is...be careful. Know what these channels are about. There are a lot of web pages and groups out there who use whatever content they can find to get clicks and generate revenue. Not just on YouTube, but all over the Internet now. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest. Tumblr itself is also fraught with uncredited content taken and repackaged to attract notes (this is also known as “freebooting”).
If you got this far, thank you very much for reading. Again I’ll probably end up making a video essay on this once I clear up my backlog of content a bit. But for now, thank you and please support the content creators you love.

Despite his mom's wishes, he proposed to his boyfriend. With a sign. On Splash Mountain.
A few months ago, with the help of his niece and nephews, Eugene Williams began working on a sign asking his boyfriend to marry him.
On May 23, he unveiled it in the most glorious way possible:
"Chris, will you marry me?" Photo by Disneyland/Eugene Williams. All photos used with permission.
"I quickly hid the sign away after the drop and when we exited the ride we walked to see our photo and he was shocked," Williams wrote on Reddit. "I got down on one knee and asked him to spend the rest of his life with me."
"He said, 'Yes,'" Williams confirmed.
Williams and Chris, who met just over a year ago, are huge Disneyland fans.
The pair, who are both from Southern California, have been going to the park once a month together ever since.
Early in their relationship, Williams says, he learned that Splash Mountain was Chris' favorite ride, which gave him the idea for the sign and proposal.
"I remember hearing a girl saying 'OMG that’s so cute!' And then a few people clapped when I got down and proposed and he said yes," Williams says in an email interview.
But not everyone was thrilled by the surprise proposal.
Williams explained on Reddit that his mom, who hails from a traditional religious background, asked him not to post the photo on Facebook because she's "ashamed" of him and was worried her relatives would "gossip."
"I didn’t even receive a congratulations from my parents, so it was very heartbreaking for me," he says.
Instead, in a moment of anger, Williams posted the photo to Reddit, where it was up-voted thousands of times and received dozens of melt-your-heart compliments.

"Holy ravioli this is amazing. Congrats to you two!" user jofnj wrote.
"Straight bro here ... y'all are a-god-damn-dorable. Congratulations and wishing you a lifetime of health and happiness together," raved redditor eminently_weird.
One commenter — a dad — even said the photo helped him understand his own son.
"As a middle aged straight guy who subscribes to this sub because my son is not quite sure of his sexuality and I want to keep an open mind, I am often blown away by the overwhelming warmth of love I see on this sub," user EINSTIEN420 explained. "I am legitimately sorry your mom can't feel the happiness that you have here. Shedding a No Homo manly tear for you right now and [congrats] to you and your partner."
Other commenters advised him to ignore his mom's request and celebrate: "Post it on Facebook. It's your happiness before others," user keveeeezy suggested.
The couple spent the rest of the day at the park, smiling, FaceTiming with Chris' family, and cuddling on the Haunted Mansion ride.
"It was the most romantic time despite the ride being a haunted mansion!" he says.
Williams says he's excited that people are thrilled by the photo — but he's even more excited "about being with Chris and starting a family together."
"I'm just happy that we’re getting such a positive response from people," Williams says. "It makes me so happy to be able to share these positive messages with Chris."
"I did this all for him to have a lasting memory of our love."

The WHY, the HOW, the THEN, and the NOW
The why is almost always the same I think. Sure, some variation here and there, especially for the people who started in the beginning, but now it’s mostly the same even if people don’t want to admit it. It’s the idea. The idea that someone could record themselves doing the thing they love to do the most, playing video games, and make a living doing it. A good living, an “easy” living. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe some people really do it just for the fun of it, but I don’t think so. Especially now a days.
That’s why I’m doing it. I’m not going to claim that I’m some kind of  saint and I’m just in it for a good time. I want money and an easy life too ya know? I mean, so many people don’t want to admit that, but why? Is it really so bad to want to make money doing something I love? Aren’t we all kind of after that in one sense or another? I think so. I’m not gonna hide behind lame excuses, I want to play games and make money doing it. And take mid day naps, cause let’s be real those are the freaking best.
So on to the how. How does one get started in this biz? Well, getting off the ground and making videos is pretty darn easy, if you have a little cash and time to learn a few new things. First you need a gaming machine, most people end up needing a gaming PC of some kinda though there are work arounds. And a mic, because while people do put up videos without a narration those never get too far if we’re being real here. Internet is, I would think, a given. And then you need some games to play. If you’re on PC, recording software can be free and the games can be cheap, so it’s not THAT horrible, but of course nothing good comes for free. A camera to see your face would be nice but is hardly necessary.
So now that you have all that, now what? Well there’s the process of learning of to set up a recording and making sure it all runs smoothly. This seems to be at least somewhat luck based, as some people seem to never have issues and some people are plagued with them. But with trail and error, most problems can be overcome. And then of course, you need to figure out the user interface of getting yourself up on the site you want to be featured on, whether that be Twitch or Youtube or wherever else. Not totally intuitive but with a little playing around and some common sense (or googling) it’s easy enough.
So, then we come to where I fit into this story, and what you’ll be reading from me if you decide to sit in on this blog from time to time, my story. I don’t know if anyone will ever read this, or if I’ll ever achieve my goal of being among the Youtuber Elite. Probably not. But I’m going to try and write it all down anyway. maybe it’ll be nice to look back someday and remember this period of my life where I tried something silly, or maybe I’ll look back as I near a billion subs and remember fondly how it all started. Who knows for sure?
I started my channel in February of 2017, though the exact date escapes me and I’m too lazy to try and look. My first subscriber was someone by the name of Igor. Thank you Igor for randomly finding me in the chaos of Youtube. If I ever make it big maybe I’ll do something nice for Igor someday. My first video was a test recording turned full on recording of a small game by the name of Happy Room. It wasn’t intentional, I wanted my first upload to be something a little more symbolic of what the channel would be in the long run, but it flowed well and I like it. Of course the complete lack of editing and horrible commentary plague that video like a virus, but it’s mine and I’ll love it just for that. From there it was just a ride down hill. I was originally shooting for 2 videos a day, everyday, with a 2 week back log just in case I needed a break or vacation. That 2 week backlog was lost very quickly though to my own laziness and inability to stick to a schedule (and wake up early enough before work to record and upload something). It was an unfortunate decline that never had a chance to go anywhere but down. But it was a learning experience. I learned staying ahead of the game is everything and that I should set realistic goals and strive to meet them. My goal now is 5 videos a week, Monday through Friday. Since I came back this last week from a vacation to Seattle (my favorite place in the world btw) I’ve managed to keep somewhat ahead. Honestly the most limiting factor to me staying ahead of my upload schedule is my crappy internet that some days just doesn’t work and my disdain for editing, which I’ve been trying to find ways to make easier. But I’m keeping up and for now I suppose that’s enough.
My time on Youtube has put me through some very interesting emotional rollarcoasters that have no intention of ending anytime soon. When I started I was so full of glee. I could just see myself sitting down to “do some work” at my computer, never having to return to the hell hole that is working for minimum wage and tips, and just soaking in all the glory of being a Youtuber for a living. But as the views stopped going up and I wasn’t able to keep up with the uploads, I found myself desperate for an easy button. I wanted some kind of key advice that would make the whole thing easier or at least instantly boost me to 100,000 subs so I could just quit my job and spend all day recording and uploading. No such luck (imagine that, no easy button for life). As I lowered my expectations things got a little more bearable and I was able to keep up a little better, but then the melancholy set in. Why wasn’t I getting tons of subs and views? How did anyone else ever get to where they are now? Am I doing this all for nothing? Should I just quit and be sad quietly? These questions still haunt the back of my mind some days. I don’t know what the solution to them is, so if you’re here looking for that answer, I’m sorry. This isn’t a guide, just a telling of a tale.
So what does the future hold? I don’t know any better than you do. I write this an upload for today goes up, and I have till next Monday already recorded so that’s nice. Just gotta edit them and get them up. I feel cautiously hopeful. Maybe I’ll never be big but I can at least get my uploads on time to all of my 25 subscribers. It’s something. And I have all kinds of games to play. And I mean, even if being a Youtuber isn’t as glorious and life changing as I hoped it would be, I still love a good game. So that’s a way to look at it right?
I’m still looking for my golden ticket. I still want to just hit the easy button and just ride to the top where I can be rich and get new computer parts on a whim and not look at the price of things on the menu at a restaurant. I want my easy way out. But I realize it’s not coming. And I’m ready to dig in for the long haul. Maybe I’ll only be a YouTuber for another year or 6 month or maybe I’ll keep trucking along for a few years, who knows. What I do know is, being a Youtuber has made my days a little more challenging and a little more interesting, and that’s worth something at least.
Till next week, I’m the Milkman, and I hope you have an amazing day.
