Fuck I have a problem.

I've been obsessed with Miguel for almost 3 weeks now and it's showing no signs of disappearing any time soon.

I haven't been able to focus much on my writing in any meaningful way because my brain is just so consumed with Miguel and Spiderverse in general.

But mostly Miguel.

I just. love him so much.

I can't stop thinking about him and watching edits and scrolling through twitter for art and posts. He's just so. everything. everything ever all at once. what more can i ask for in a character?

Hi guys, it's Vic! Also known as:

Round TWO at addressing the extreme racism in the CoD fandom!

So it’s both odd and funny that my Indigenous fem!OC has pissed off so many random people, especially with the fact that I created her to ship with Ghost.

(A fictional character that has NO canon love interest, FYI. Sorry to bust y'all's little bubble. Well, there's Mara and Urban Tracker....)

Anyways, I really don't care if this post sounds bitchy in nature. I really don't, not anymore. Some of y'all need a damn wakeup call. Several months ago, in December of 2023, I made a post (here) regarding the sudden influx of hate I began receiving following the posting of my OC, SilentDove Reyes. For around two weeks after that post, the hate died down, and I felt motivated to create more content involving Dove and Ghost.

Until the hate picked up again with every little thing I posted that related to my OC x Ghost.

However....this new hate incorporated the MMIW. A bold ass move, in my opinion.

If you are not aware, the MMIW stands for "Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women." Alternate spellings include the MMIWG & MMIWGTS (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirits). As of 2023, statistics indicate that Indigenous women face a 10x murder rate than any other race/ethnicity. I have made a previous post regarding the issue, seen here. The unfortunate truth is that young Indigenous girls are more likely to be SA'd and murdered than to attend college. Let that sink in for a moment.

Now, I am an Indigenous woman. That is no surprise there; I fashioned my OC to provide myself (and, by extension, others) with Native representation in a franchise I greatly enjoy. What IS surprising, however, is that me doing so has pissed off so many people. I'm very certain some of y'all must descend from Andrew Jackson, or John Wayne cause, christ on a bike driven by a pike.

Listen, I don't care who you ship Ghost with. I really don't. I've blocked numerous shipping tags, remained mindful of the content I'm interacting with, and surrounded myself with fellow mutuals who also have personal OCs. It is really that easy.

What I do care about is the fact that some of you CANNOT separate fanon headcanons from canon material.

Exhibit A:

So let’s clear some stuff up!

Soap x Ghost is NOT canon.

Ghost being queer is NOT canon.

And, most definitely, Ghost being a woman abuser who would harm/abuse/murder a woman (either physically, emotionally, psychologically) is NOT canon.

What IS canon is his and Soap's strong bond. In my eyes, that is a brotherly bond, reminding me of a big brother/little brother relationship; in my fanfiction, Soap is Ghost's children's uncle. In fact, his son (second-born child) is named after him.

You are, of course, free to view them as romantic; what you are not free to do is attack OC creators/non-shippers for not perceiving them like that.

That is just fucking weird and delusional behavior. Knock it off. You're giving your fellow normal shippers a bad name.

ALSO! Let’s clear things up!

1. I’m not straight — I’m bisexual and demisexual.

2. I’m only half white (Spanish, with Mexican heritage). I’m QUITE LITERALLY an enrolled Native, so I guess the best way to describe me is “biracial.”

3. It’s y’all ruining the canon gay representation by shipping Laswell—a GAY woman—with Price, despite the fact that she canonically has a wife.

4. My OC does not have a “dumb fucking name.” Her name is an Indigenous name with a specific backstory to it; it’ll be explored further in future fanfics once I find the motivation to return to writing.

Anyways, I highly doubt this will be the last post I create regarding this problem; apparently, a nice chunk of the fandom has this intense animosity towards fem!OCs, fem!Y/Ns, and BIPOC!OC creators. Alright. With that being said, I invite anyone who has similar experiences to share yours, either in the reblogs or in separate posts.

As sometimes we say during pow wows:

Hey! You made a post about trying to find autistic BIPOC people- my roommate is native and autistic, though it's not something he really says anything about on his blog, and he's had a p traditional upper-middle class upbrining: FennalFennec is his username. Not sure what you're looking for exactly but wanted to help if I could.

Also, if you have the energy to answer, could you explain your autistic experience compared to the white autistic experience? Or maybe point me to people who do? Im neurodivergent as well, but white af and am p ignorant on the differences for BIPOC people.

thank you for the recc of your friends blog! Im really looking to diversify the autistic content i do engage in because its been pretty monolithic for a while now. even if your friend doesn't talk about it much, i just would like to be aware that people like me exist.

i'm still pretty much self-suspecting and would like be self-dx, but ive been retaking the raads-r after seeing that study that came out that pretty much confirms its a good indicator of ASD. kept scoring above 140 (literally right in between the average of suspected ASD in cis men and cis women, its almost like im a Transgender or something).

Anyway, im still unpacking the differences in the experience besides the obvious racialization of skin color. I think a main thing that comes to mind for about the difference between my experience as someone who was raised in an immigrant Mexican household (and as someone who has white privilege but was never treated as "White" i.e european) and the usual white autistic experience can be summed up with the Right to Comfort. I was actually talking about this with my twin the other day. The tenants of white supremacy are something I go back to everyday because they really do hold true in every aspect of life--interpersonal, intrapersonal, systemically, etc. But one of the tenants is the Right to Comfort. I'll past examples here from this pdf:

the belief that those with power have a right to emotional and psychological comfort (another aspect of valuing “logic” over emotion)

I see this a lot in how White autistics are allowed to be as "disabled" or as "autistic" as they want. There is still ableism of course, but the amount of BIPOC autistic folks who are killed, assaulted, harassed, and bullied for appearing as "disabled" or as "autistic" as they are is quite high. Even BIPOC autistics with lower support needs aren't allowed to express those needs in the ways I see White autistics can. Obviously it's a privilege to unmask, too. I personally don't relate to White autistics in that way, and it brings me a lot of discomfort. I also wanna say I'm not upset at White autistics; everyone deserves to unmask if they want and everyone deserves to receive the support they need. What I am saying is I am deeply upset by White Supremacy and the way it creates access to being myself an incredibly racialized thing. Because racism effing blows man.

also if I am veering into saying something shitty in this pls feel free to correct me. everyday im learning more about myself with this and I am still self-suspecting, but at this point there is very little else that explains the way my brain thinks and why I require certain things to feel good. i appreciate you affirming my experiences <3

OH RIGHT MY ITERATION

Okay so these are just the concept info pages I made and these are not the final designs though, I’ve updated some designs A TON already

OKAY this iteration is called

TMNT 2032

and these pages are in order of when I made them so there’s no rhyme or reason.

This is Cassius Casey (Kirby) Jones, he’s the first person I designed for the AU and his design does not look like this at all anymore. He’s got Japanese heritage from one side of the fam and Mexican on the other. No real reason except I wanna push my Spanglish onto him. Also he’s gay.

This is April O’Neil, she’s the second person I designed but I never really thought her I through. She I guess has a possessed softball bat cause she’s a lesbian and the bat is a reference to Rise April. Her mother’s family is Indian and her dad’s is either Indian-American or African American. Like I said before, I haven’t thought her through much.

She handles the supplies for the Homatos and that’s really all I have, I should probly think her through more 😬

This is Raph, originally he was going to be a snapping turtle but I decided he’s actually going to be biologically related to his brothers with the turtle DNA. I haven’t thought too much about him but he does have romantic feelings for Mona Lisa when he meets her but I still need his personality-

Okay so here’s Mikey and he’s the one that I’ve HEAVILY changed—DRASTICALLY, if you will. I wasn’t even really in the right mindset to design him here so I am not at all proud of this design 😬

Yeah so he’s technically not the youngest I guess and also the drawing I did here was horrendous so uhhhhh let’s ignore this and we’ll have better content on him later.

Here’s Kassandra Karai Jones, I had SO MUCH fun designing her. She’s a super badass lesbian Foot clan royalty soldier. Also she’s Casey’s twin hehehehe I love that so much. I can’t wait to write her arcs and stuff but I’ll have you know right now that the girl is a DISASTER around attractive women.

This is Donnie!!!! He’s DEFINITELY up there with the Jones twins as one of the most fun characters to design, he’s so awesome I love drawing himmmm eeeeeeeeeeek!!!!

Okay so I made a mistake saying he has dual Bo-staffs, I just liked the way it looked with his design, but that’s incredibly impractical so that’s one of the first things I changed.

He’s the one character that I have his WHOLE personality fleshed out because I loved designing so much and he’s either a silly gay or a silly bisexual. I can’t tell you everything about him right now bc he’s still in the making and I wanna leave some room for content but he’s so much fun to draw and write!!!!

This is Jennikka! Did I mention she’s in here? Hehehehehehhehehehehhe well now I did. i am not getting involved into the making of the turtles because I spent DAYS working on that but I love it so much but ANYWAYS she’s here and she’s sapphic.

This is Venus!!! She’s so cuuteee eeeeeeek I love her she’s aroace and she’s also here. She has a deep connection with spritual energy and stuff much like Mikey from Rottmnt or I think the 2003 Venus as well? I haven’t gotten that far in the 2k3 show yet so I don’t know much abt her but I heard she has strong mystic connections or smth. I absolutely love her design and I hope you do too.

I don’t have too much on him atm cause I finally got his design down like 4 days ago or smth like that, but I’ve decided he can’t stand up straight for the life of him and Donnie always yells at him for it. He’s a bit like Rise Leo I guess but just more smooth and more serious on his training like every other Leo. I had him down as a tattle-tale at firs but then I decided nah. Oh also he’s the medic

Oh and I don’t think I mentioned but Donnie starts out as the leader cause he’s the oldest but eventually the title just moves liquidly through them until it lands on Leo. I had a little headcannon that I’ll never write down on paper but I keep up here that they be wingmen for each other when someone’s tryna impress a love interest they “hold” the leader title. See: Raph gets to be leader when they meet Mona Lisa.

I have a few other designs down but not on info sheets, just on doodle pages and I’m not ready to reveal how much time I waste on this lmfao.

I have Splinter, Mona, most other Mutants and almost Draxum’s concept designs on paper. I’ll post info on the creation some other time but maybe not. Maybe I’ll keep it to myself.

All I’ll say abt it for now is that the turtle’s creations were all at the fault of Splinter being an absolute disaster of a bisexual.

Do you think Tim Burton someone that we shouldn't support? I was hyped seeing the Wednesday Addams trailer but when I looked into Burton I found he's said a few racist things in the past. Now I'm not sure if I can watch Wednesday in good conscious or not despite the fact I adore the Addams family

I think there's a real difference between someone who has "said a few racist things in the past" (or said things that we retroactively consider to be racist) and a person who is actively being racist. People fuck up. They're often ignorant and uninformed. Sometimes they say things that aren't perfect. I think we need to make space for "yikes, friendly reminder that this isn't a good look" without defaulting to, "that person is racist and cancelled, nobody interact with their content ever again."

From what I can tell, the accusations of racism seem to be mostly over Burton's lack of diversity in his films. Which is accurate, but... he casts the same four people in everything he makes (Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Christopher Lee and Michael Gough). There's literally a lack of diversity in his films at all, because there's a lack of diversity in the actual individual actors that he hires. So it's kind of unsurprising that his films lack diversity and that he doesn't have great insight on the subject of diversity at large.

Specifically, when people accuse Burton of racism, they point to a 2016 interview with Bustle, in which he said he said that,

"Nowadays, people are talking about [diversity] more. But things either call for things, or they don’t. I remember back when I was a child watching The Brady Bunch and they started to get all politically correct. Like, OK, let’s have an Asian child and a black. I used to get more offended by that than just... I grew up watching blaxploitation movies, right? And I said, that’s great. I didn’t go like, OK, there should be more white people in these movies."

Is that a great take? Of course not. Movies made by white people that only include white people aren't the same as movies made by Black people that only include Black people. The Brady Bunch was doing important work by diversifying their cast, even if their moves towards diversity felt shoehorned to white kids in Burbank in the 60s. But is it a cancelable offense that proves he's always been secretly racist and that if we watch his works, we'll be supporting racism? I don't think so. I think he's just, you know, a white guy who grew up in Burbank in the 60s who has cast the same four people in his movies since 1988.

It should also be noted that in the same Bustle article, they interview Samuel L. Jackson about Tim Burton's perceived lack of representation in his films, to which his only response was, "I had to go back in my head and go, how many black characters have been in Tim Burton movies? And I may have been the first, I don’t know, or the most prominent in that particular way, but it happens the way it happens. I don’t think it’s any fault of his or his method of storytelling, it’s just how it’s played out. Tim’s a really great guy."

Also, the new Addams family TV show is actually pretty diverse. It stars Jenna Ortega, who is Mexican and Puerto Rican, as well as Luis Guzmán, who is Puerto Rican. It also features Fred Armisen, who is Venezuelan-Korean. An attempt to rectify the lack of diversity in Burton's works is being made here. If anything, this is the work of Burton's that's the worst to boycott, because Netflix has a history of cancelling shows that are led by Hispanic and Latin actors.

On a bit of a side note, I also want to say that the more I have these conversations, the more I feel like our increasing cultural focus on whether the media we consume is "ethical" or not is a red herring that's distracting from more important issues. Is a racist comment Tim Burton made in 2016 really the biggest race related issue we're facing right now? Fuck no. But by focusing on that, people can pat themselves on the back for "fighting racism" without actually having to contend with the messy, complicated, nuanced discussions that are necessary to solve the more pressing issues at hand, and without actually having to meaningfully change their lives. Even if literally nobody watched this new Addams family show, Tim Burton would still have an estimated net worth of $100 million. Even if literally nobody watched the new Addams family show, Tim Burton still got paid to make it. So in this case, even if his comments were totally unforgivable, I think boycotting it has very little worth. If he gives you the ick now that you've read that he's said racist things in the past, it's your prerogative not to watch it. That's totally fine, and I get feeling that way. But that's a personal decision, not a political or ethical one.

Gwilin // Mexican marigold (Tagetes erecta)

Gwilin irradiates happiness, and what better shape to irradiate something could one possibly take than a sphere? The Nahuatl word for this flower literally means "twenty flowers", and what a fitting name that is, for this is actually an 'inflorescent' or 'composite' flower, made up of many tiny little flowers arranged on the base of a single sepal.

Fari // Touch-me-not (Mimosa pudica)

Like Fari, the touch-me-not is bright, bold, and thorny, and it'll take over the world (and your backyard) if you let it. But it also has a soft side–this bad boy is one of the few plants that display nyctinastic movement, which just means that they respond very very quickly to touch! When disturbed, the touch-me-not's leaves fold and curl away for a few minutes and open up again when the coast is clear. Emotionally, that is 100% Fari.

Narfi // Moonflower (Ipomoea alba)

This one is sort of an inside reference. One of the commenters on my fic mentioned that they headcanon Narfi as being a werewolf. Seemed fitting to choose a flower that likes to open at night :)

Wilhelm // Gardenia (Gardenia jasminoides)

Wilhelm is a simple guy with simple needs. He's hearty, helpful–and perhaps a tad old-fashioned for some folks' tastes. But he's sweet, like this flower's unmistakable perfume, and he doesn't put on airs, and he's got a good heart. Easygoing flower for the easygoing innkeeper. Fun fact: the principal component responsible for giving this flower it's lovely scent is called farnesene, which is the same chemical associated with the smell of green apples.

Lynly // Purslane (Portulaca spp.)

This flower has hopes and dreams. It just looks it. At some point in her life, Lynly wanted nothing more than to perform at the Imperial City Opera House, but life took her down other paths, and she's content with what she's made of herself in Ivarstead, even if the occasional insecurity about her musical skills gnaws at her every now and then. She can thank her mean old lute instructor at the Bards' College for that.

Temba // Bougainvillea (Bougainvillea glabra)

There's more than meets the eye with the bougainvillea, and there's more than meets the eye with Temba. Though the wispy, papery blots of pink, white, orange, or yellow that can dot this South American plant's bush may seem like the petals of its flower, they are actually modified leaves. The true flower is tiny, and often plain white, and sits nestled among them. If Temba appears to be bitter and impatient and angry at times it's because, in truth, she often is. But that's only because she thinks she can't afford to be seen as anything but. Do most people get close enough to appreciate the tiny beauty of the bougainvillea's true flower? Do most folks ever ask themselves what lies beyond Temba's scratchy surface?

The latergrams, the somewhat cryptic posts, the bizarre influencer type video in Vegas. IN YOUR OPINION, for those in the back, there is no way Bcacstuff knows any of this to be fact so back off. In your opinion, is this just him posting his trip or is this all a game? Is he trying to hide something or is he strategically doing this for some reason? Well, in my opinion 😛, I do think I see he realizes that his extreme shilling, constantly posting of his booze, has become too much and has turned people of from his posts, made them unfollow.

I've posted more then once about his IG statistics. Recently we saw his number of followers in the minus (losing followers) but over a longer time you can clearly see how the engagement rate decreased significantly. About a year ago, his highest rated posts (mostly posts containing close up images of himself, whether or not a photoshoot) easily gained 200k-250k+ and comments around 3k. Posts about his projects gained initially a good number, but the more he posts about the same project, it starts to loose attraction. (see f.i. posts about MiK last year or TFY, SAS RN). OL posts attract more when there is a new season, pictures of JC most. MPC is a more steady (but low) number of about +/- 30k

Compare those numbers to the current ones, with just now and then an occasional spike, you see it doesn't come near. And that's going on for a longer time now. If you look at f.i. the post with his photo from the Nobleman photoshoot (July , it has only 85k likes and 2.5k comments. Even his whisky post with his close up (July 27), only had 43k likes, and 1400 comments.

In other words he's well aware he needs to change something to stay relevant, keep his fans engaged in order to keep up his image of a well in demand actor. (which can also be one of the aspects to be considered for a role).

Lately he had not much other attractive content to post, just lots of the same he already promoted. Now, since he's in the US, he posted 5 posts in a row not related to any project or shilling his merch. He tries to up his numbers in various ways. Taking into account more trendy ways (tiktok and that sort of videos) and perhaps someone told him his shilling isn't helping. He only posted some in his stories, but a lot less than before.

The LV video was posted at the wrong time though, and I'm not sure if he mistakenly removed it, or there was a reason for it (the comments?). It was weird because when he reposted something went wrong and we saw it briefly 6 times). He lost the comments and likes along with that action. His cowboy post already upped the numbers, 117k likes, and 3.5 comments, his Mexican video though gained less. (is the tiktok style not working?). The post with the pictures from Mexico also didn't do that well. His last post is only one day old, though the 50k likes and 1.5k comments is still low (for a post with his closeup pic).

So yeah, sort of a long intro to explain where my opinion is based upon. But I simply think he's trying to stay relevant and keep his image up. IG (or sm in general) is of course not the only aspect in it, and I think there are more aspects to it that we do not have insides of. His comments do not mean that much to me, I don't think they're receipts in anyway. The game is more called, how to keep fans engaged and (new) people interested in me. Though he never plays games well thought out imo.

To add to it, it looks like he's gaining back some followers. Yesterday and today in the + (though this day isn't over yet). The days before he lost a good number so he's not back yet at where he was. The number fluctuates still though.

Hi! I’m Bex! I’m 29, Ace, and just here for a good time. I’ve been off and on tumblr since about 2012, having had multiple blogs in that time and this is the most current one. I enjoy a lot of different content/media and general don’t tag things unless it’s spoiler related. If you need me to tag something for whatever reason, I will happily do so!!!

I am going to wait until I am in contact with more people to release content like this. I don't just want one group to review it...

A couple of days ago, Jesse Watters, an anchor on Fox News Channel, tried to make the claim in favor of approving cultural appropriation. He was describing how males can wear dresses. But, a white kid can't wear a Native American headdress. In that case, I will point out that wearing a dress can often times be a situation where a person is making a claim about their identity. I will use the case of Eminem (at least, one part of the case of Eminem), that he made when choosing to wear a wave cap. My hypothesis is that he should not be doing this and it is cultural appropriation.

Why would he do this? Eminem has different ways to relate with cultures! Eminem grew up in a broken home and grew up impoverished. He might be doing something because of the people he was surrounded by? But, can I reject that hypothesis that he isn't being the best of himself? He could find more appropriate ways to express relating with people? He doesn't need a wave cap! A wave cap is needed, from what I try to understand, is used to help protect hair and scalp from environmental factors that can cause damage or breakage?

I find that many people want to make arguments on other sides of this issue when regarding things like black face; like there is a double standard. What about when black people wear white face? It is mainly just because of the struggles that many face because of bad apples in society! Even Eminem isn't black. Being black, no matter when it comes to what geographical area or demographic, involves having your own unique vantage point. And, of course, everyone has their own unique vantage point!

There will always be bad apples! It would be inappropriate to use racial slurs to point this out; when describing an group of people (of course, people aren't monolithic, either)! If you want to joke with your friends, though, you can do that without committing microaggressions. For instance, a friend of mine and I could joke around about our hair! But, we will always know that we are both beautiful people.

Consider this: I have appropriated culture before! I was a kid then! I shouldn’t condone it, though? The one-drop rule is still applicable? I’m not out there dressing like a Mexican these days! I’m not wearing black face? Why would I want to? I could find ways to relate with cultures without appropriating them? That is this issue/problem at hand!

It is also important to help people to pick themselves up by the bootstraps! Inspire entrepreneurship in communities that need it! Senator Tim Scott is an example of how society has been changing over the last couple of decades especially! Anyone can pick themselves up by the bootstraps, right?

Let us circle back to the part about Eminem and appropriation. I do acknowledge, that Eminem has a lot of ways he can relate to people who grew up impoverished communities and grew up in a broken home. This doesn't mean that he should be appropriating different cultures! I can also consider the one-drop rule as an argument for why someone would be justified to do what they do.

As a mexican woman, I love to see movies with latino characters, and I adore to finally see latin america as the setting of mainstream movies in a positive light without all of these harmful stereotypes about us and our countries.

However, why do latinos only matter when they're represented by the United States? Why is it only worthy to be watched and made popular if it's made by north americans? Why does it need to be americanized to be taken in consideration?

Media made by latinos EXIST. Many people like to say there isn't, but as OP said in the thread, what they mean is that there's a lack of latino media in first world countries. If you search, you will find.

We make our own movies, shows, animation, books, music... It might not be internationally popular, but that's because like all other non-american media, it's incredibly overlooked.

Everything american is put above like if it's more deserving and worthy of attention just because it's from the USA. Just look how many american remakes of non-american media get so popular.

Remember about how much Villainous (a mexican CN cartoon) struggled for years to be green-lit as a full series? Why do you think it is? Because it's made in latin america, by latinos.
