My DC x DP Masterpost
Here is my masterpost of works that fall into the category of a crossover of DC comics and Danny Phantom. Mostly, these will be notfics. If any of the links are broken please message me ASAP. Edit: I will not be doing taglists because people are quite frankly abusing the idea.
What's a notfic?
So, this was really common in fandom like 10 years ago but it's less common now so I'm just including this quick explanation in case. Notfic/Not!Fic is the halfway point between an actual fic and a prompt. It mostly sort of has the tone of describing another fic to somebody, or working out an ongoing plot with a friend (e.g. Instead of writing out an entire set of dialogue, a notfic might just put "Jason and Tim discuss why they both want to fake their deaths").
Permissions Housekeeping
I totally don't mind if anyone wants to take all or part of what I've written for any prompt and write an actual fic or create another transformative work as long as I'm appropriately credited. If you're just taking the most oblique inspiration from something I've made I'd appreciate at least a tag so I can read it!
Also if you'd like to tag me in any of your works please do, provided that it's the first if it's in a series and not Jazz/Jason as the main pairing, please.

hi wimsie, hope you're doing good! this isn't really an ask, i just wanted to tell (and i guess show?) you something so, i found your dark pinky ask recently, and honestly, i'm in love with it. i am not completely up-to-date with the lore, but the whole concept of taking a character like pinky and making him a traumatized villain fascinates me. canon plays with it from time to time, but it's so cool to see someone extend this idea and give it more nuance and, like, a whole story??? absolutely amazing i just love to see characters like this, especially when they had a special bond with another char and then some horrible traumatic experience broke them up, the sweet clingy character turns into a ball of nerves and with time becomes avoidant and turns to inexcusably horrible behaviour as a kind of unhealthy coping mechanism, but you can still see his anxiety leaking through😩 the best kind of angst, make him suffer and i can't get over the way you draw DP, like ahhhh he looks so good😭 istg you have some sort of special understanding of the villain aesthetic, no one gets how to be evil the way you get it i admire your vision🙏 (also, i heard this one song recently, it made me think of DP, i got kinda carried away and made a moodboard sort of thingy based on him.....i'll put it in a separate ask tehee)
Heyy!! I've been meaning to get to this I swear I've just been so busy andddd well my internet was messed up for a bit but yeah xD
Thank you so so much, this is so sweet!!! I'm always happy to know when my insane obsession with the hot topic mouse infects someone else hdhhdjd
I've been working in the story for the ask blog for... wow a few years now (damn) and it's really still only at the beginning so I'm hoping to continue it for a long time ^^ I'm so happy to know you're enjoying it! I love me some villain stuff >:3
As for his character there's so many ways you can take it since he was sorta a blank slate in the comics. Yeah he had some things here and there but you could just do so much with him and thats part of what keeps me inspired with him honestly so I am happy that you like the angsty route I took with him x3
I did see your collage/moodboard (I'm going to post it next of course) and I love it so much ghghhh!!!
Again thank you soooo so much!! I really appreciate you taking the time to tell/show me this 💜

Just thinking aloud here, feel free to ignore.
We are nearing the end of the big blue nerd's DnD campaign (we're playing a module that caps at level 10 and we're already at level 9) and our group has been floating the idea of starting another game once this one ends, the GM already having some ideas she's been hinting at.
Now half our group are starting to go nuts over new character ideas already and I, too, have So Many! I think I have options for any role, and I'm buzzing!
We have five players (me included) besides the GM, the only one I know for fairly certain is one of the players stating she wants to go ranger, and another has floated the possibility of making a cleric, but that still leaves basically all roles open. If we need a tank, I'll probably go for a Circle of the Moon druid (wild shape smash!) or a fighter (I am quite curious about trying an Eldritch Knight), the latter also working for dps option as well as maybe rogue or a sorcerer, and I do have a cleric idea rolling around for healer if the one player considering the cleric ends up choosing something else (I may or may not bitch about DnD religion systems while I'm at it but it won't be enough to stop me from keeping my buddies alive!).
For races I'm rolling around a tabaxi (kitty! Also zoomies!), a tiefling (hellish rebuke <3) or a satyr/faun (not for any mechanical reason, I just feel like drawing hooves would be fun and I don't feel like making a minotaur immediately after playing a tall and horned dragonborn), with a tiny possibility of maybe drow (I have some character ideas, plus I like the superior darkvision/sunlight sensitivity for an interesting boon/handicap dynamic for character RP reasons. I only got to take the elf shaped pine cone out for a single session before out IRL group's GM moved out of town and I'm curious how this other group would work with some of the ideas I've had) and goblin (one day, one day! Not sure if this is going to be the right campaign for it, but one day...)
Buzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!

Danny Phantom/Warehouse 13
I've been watching Warehouse 13 and I'm on season 3 right now; and probably won’t finish it :( Since I'm currently interested in the DP fandom it is only right that I try to come up with some crossover.
So if you don't know Warehouse 13 is a show where two Secret Service agents; Pete Lattimer and Myka Bering, are transferred to a top-secret storage warehouse that holds tons of strange artifacts, mysterious relics, and just weirdly powerful items. Their job is to find these artifacts out in the world and bring them to the warehouse to be kept safe. And these artifacts can be like anything.
So I've come up with a few different scenarios/crossover ideas.
First idea (references to specific episodes in [ ]):
The Warehouse picks up strange and impossible things happening in a small town in the middle of nowhere (Amity Park if you didn't know). Newspapers about ghosts?? And pictures of people and green creatures flying and attacking citizens? Yeah definitely something to investigate, because what else could it be other than an artifact.
So Myka and Pete head down to Illinois, or wherever Amity Park is, and they immediately see the damage done to the town. I'm thinking that the first day they don’t see any ghosts so they are just asking around town about the reports of the strange happenings. I’m thinking they ask like police officers they run across and employees of shops that have seen better days, but also anyone that seems willing to talk which isn’t a lot. I don’t know if the GIW is around or if Myka and Pete are aware of what the GIW is, but I think if GIW agents cross their path then they’ll be brushed to the side because why is the secret service here they shouldn’t be caring about what’s happening in Amity.
I think they also might look through the museum or library, or get a tour of the school because that place is attacked a lot. They might have to talk to the students about how they got their jobs because why would the principal pass up the opportunity of secret service agents talking to the students in exchange for looking around the school. They might use that as a way to ask some students about what they’ve seen in town.
[ Based on reports of there being a ghost hero that fights other ghosts, I think they start comparing this to artifacts they already have in the Warehouse like Angelo Siciliano’s Workout Trunks that can increase the density of anyone wearing them, which was used in the episode “Mild Mannered” by a guy trying to be a vigilante. Jack Kirby’s Belt is similar where it can manipulate the density of the wearer and it isn’t at the Warehouse so they might try to jump to conclusions to at least why Phantom can fly before they actually see him. Or that he is just a guy using an artifact to fight crime.
There’s also Philo Farnsworth’s Transmutational Three Dimensional Camera/Projector which in the episode “Beyond Our Control” the projector was unknowingly being used to project parts of movies all across town, and these things weren’t just holograms but actual physical objects. This is in the Warehouse, but Myka and Pete could end up thinking that an artifact could be producing and projecting these ghosts instead of them actually being ghosts.]
But the second day they most definitely see Phantom and another ghost fighting, it’s an average fight and at the end Phantom sucks the ghost into his thermos. Seeing that the ghost gets sucked into the thermos and then Phantom just leaves, Myka and Pete believe that the thermos is the artifact. But how are they gonna get it? Then here comes the Fentons, always late to the fights. Discovering that the Fentons have doctorates.. for this town’s problem? and have been trying to stop these attacks Myka and Pete end up going to their house to get more information.
They walk through the door and BOOM, they get hit with the smell of fudge. (If you smell fudge where there is no fudge then that means there’s an artifact or at least one at work) But Fentonworks always smells like fudge because of how often it is made, and Jack definitely has some hidden somewhere but they don’t know that.
Myka and Pete ask about if they know anything about the thermos, and they discover that the ghosts have been around before the thermos was made and was made by the Fenton, but didn’t work until Phantom got his hands on it. So they cross the fact that the thermos is an artifact off their list and they wanna keep asking more questions, but one of the Fenton children (Jazz) has been spying on them and eventually kinda forces them out of the house for the night. (So they didn’t see the lab downstairs)
On their way back to where they are staying they end up walking past the park and see a streak of green run by. Ending up following it and finding out that it’s a small green dog and it’s running circles around Phantom. I don’t know if they end up approaching Phantom and he has to stop Cujo from attacking them and then he disappears with his dog, or they end up watching and maybe call Artie and Claudia (Artie is like their boss, Claudia is a co-worker with way less experience, but good with tech) so they can see pretty much with their own eyes what these ghosts look and act like. I think Pete, maybe Myka, and definitely Claudia end up thinking that these ghosts aren’t just in town to fight, that they have sentience to them and maybe you can just walk up to them or at least Phantom and just ask them what on earth is happening in this town.
I think at the end there’s nothing for them to do about this town, it ends up not being an artifact but something out of their control and they just have to leave it be. Or they discover the Fenton lab and they decide that the portal is an artifact (bigger things have been artifacts before). I don't know if they just take it or leave it though because some artifacts can't be taken from their location, but portal can definitely be seen as a problem for the world.

So, a few things, since I'm too lazy to make the proper channels for these kinds of things.
I'm about to build my account further to attempt to do Forgotten Hall, MoC, and Pure Fiction; and I wish to do it with the characters I do have.
A few links.
The best F2P teams is just as I suspected: Serval, Dan Heng, Herta with Asta, Yukong, March, Trailblazer, Natasha, and Lynx. There was a few with Veritas. But essentially, you can mix and match these teams all throughout. Be sure to look at which is which, when referring back to the article.
Another person I like seeing their team comps and decision-making. It gets me ideas on how to navigate my own runs. Furthermore, there are four-star clears (all though they are mostly e6 and so forth), but still good to see that no matter the character, they do well with good investments. And good investments we shall try.
Notable favorites:
youtube
I've been currently attempting this one. There was another here, but I forgot where currently.
youtube
Here is a recent one. Another way of me going for FUA DPS units. Invest in one character and it can just be DPS units.
My ultimate goal. I wish to start a setup for these stages. Will prepare characters for them.
This one is a good trial run, and if I clear this, I can get a free copy of Lynx...which is always good considering that I may not have her.
This is the link to which I owe a lot of my brainrots to.
youtube
This is the video that got me starting this all once more. Also; what OP in above mentioned in his post.
It's been over a year for me...I should really do something about my builds. I will do my best.
Furthermore, this is the link that got me invested into yet another AU of Jing Yuan.
I was looking at OP's above comment in regards to a fanfic they once read about Marastruck Jing Yuan, and I found it:
In that Golden Light by BlueSapphire718. .I have to thank the Jing Yuan Mains subreddit for this one, because I don't think I would have found it had I not messed around scrolling through trying to find a perfume that the official weibo declared smelled like Jing Yuan, that led me to Pure Fiction builds, that got me to want to build again, and then finally, going back to fanfics.
It's been a cheerful day of relaxation. I enjoyed it.

Who was the last person you recall dreaming about? Can't keep asking me about my dreams, dude. I always forget them as soon as I wake up haha.
I see. And do your dreams ever have random people in them? They do. I just never ever remember who shows up.
What was the last spicy food you ate? Do you eat a lot of spicy food? I had kimchi with my samgyupsal. Yeah, I have spicy food whenever I can – they're my favorite.
When was the last time you admired some flowers? What kind/color were they? I'm not sure, I'm not really the type to stop and stare at flowers.
What were you doing when 4PM last came around? I was stuck in a meeting that was running way longer than it should have and also fighting the urge to doze off during it.
Do you own anything that is sparkly or has glitter on it? No but I recently saw a belt bag at Adidas that's entirely bedazzled and IN PINK. I want it so bad hahaha. Maybe if I earned a little bit more I wouldn't think twice about splurging on it, but for now I'll be fine staring at it from a distance. It's this one by the way:
Tumblr media
Which streaming services do you use? How long have you been using them for? YouTube (does that count?), Spotify, Netflix, Disney+. I've had Spotify since high school, Netflix since college, and I bought subscriptions to YouTube Premium and Disney+ when I got a job.
Are you in the process of watching or re-watching a series at the moment? I started a Korean drama called DP over the weekend and can't wait to bulldoze my way through the rest of it this coming weekend.
If so, how many seasons does it have? And what season are you currently on? It has two seasons, with the second one having just come out a couple of weeks ago which is why it got thrust back into the spotlight. I'm only on the fourth episode of the first season.
To whom did you last send an email? Do you check your emails daily? Somebody from work. I mean I'm on Gmail for 8 hours straight from Monday to Friday because email = life in my line of work; but as for my personal emails I'd check my inbox at least once a week.
What was the last item of yours that you misplaced? Did you find it? My box of calling cards. I never did find it but I decided not to make a fuss out of it anymore as those cards are super outdated anyway. I'm still titled as an associate on them when I've already been promoted twice since then haha.
What was the last thing you ate, that you considered a treat/luxury? Chinese food. Celeste and I had mapo tofu, fried chicken, fried rice, and xiaolongbao at this nice and fancy-ish Chinese restaurant last Monday; generally speaking, my family and I only occasionally have Chinese spreads because they're typically so grand, and, because it's served family-style, always come out super expensive.
I see. How often do you typically eat such things? With my family, only once or twice a year.
Do you have any idea what you’re going to have for dinner tomorrow evening? Not yet.
What type of cake did you have for your last birthday, if any? I had friends surprise me with a chocolate fudge cake and a black sesame cake during my 25th birthday back in April.
When was the last time you asked for someone’s advice or opinion? Earlier today; I'm constantly asking for a second opinion from my boss at work.
Has anyone you know got a new pet recently? Celeste.
^If so, what kind? And what name did they choose? It's a new dog, but my memory's a bit hazy on the breed and name.
Who was the last person you knew had a baby? How long ago was that? I had two classmates from high school who had babies just like two weeks apart from one another. They gave birth around April or May.
And is anyone you know expecting a baby anytime soon? As far as I know, no.
What was the last fundraising event that you took part in? Can't really remember as I don't join a lot of those.
How old were you 10 years ago? Who were your closest friends at that point? I was 15. In 2013, my best friends were Angela, Carley, and my ex.
^Do you still speak to any of them? Only Angela remains in my life.
Okay, I’ll finish with something positive. Is there anything that you’re looking forward to, in the near future? New opportunities and doors to open. And seeing Se So Neon!!!

So, I've seen you reblogging some random My Hero Academia fanart lately, and I was wondering how much of it you know? Why? Because I'm curious if you have any idea about a possible crossover with Danny Phantom. (it's surprising how well DP can be crossover-ed with basically EVERYTHING and still make sense...)
I have seen the show. I...think?...I’m caught up on the show. I have not read a word of the manga.
For a crossover with DP, I like the idea of Danny falling into their world rather than the other way around; it’s just easier, even if you toss in a time travel/dimension kind of quirk thing gone wrong and rely on Clockwork to get them home again. Me, I’d do this one of two ways, depending on whether or not Danny ever has a chance of going home again. Or, perhaps more accurately, how slim that chance is, because he’d still have a chance.
Option 1: Danny’s stuck in their world. Forever. Or near enough. Because he was trapped in a thermos for years, longer than anyone would expect him to be alive, and his time doesn’t exist, it’s past, it’s gone, because it hasn’t just been a day, it hasn’t just been a month, not even a year, and every human he ever knew and loved is gone. He couldn’t even find his family if he tried. It’s been too long, the world’s changed, and there are these things called quirks now, and he just.... He holds onto the faint hope that Clockwork can get him back home, that Clockwork will agree to let him go back home, that this can just be a few extra days or weeks or whatever lived in his life but otherwise it’s fine and like he was never anywhere else, but the stable portals he knew are gone, he doesn’t know how to find and can’t create the natural ones, and ghosts like Wulf and Cujo wouldn’t even know he was back.
He can’t remember very well how he got into this mess. Maybe Vlad caught him and buried him on the other side of the world; maybe Vlad tossed him into the Ghost Zone, never really expecting Danny to get out. Everything is muddled, confused, coming back in pieces, and not like a moment frozen in time where he gets out and immediately remembers everything. It’s not like it normally is. But maybe it’s because he wasn’t released like he normally is, since he didn’t get out until the thermos degraded to the point that there was a hole he could slip through. Maybe it’s just because he was in there too long. He...he doesn’t know.
Option 2: AKA my old standby for DP crossovers to worlds that aren’t enough like his own, a door or portal in the Ghost Zone. Maybe Danny meant to go through, whether he was exploring or running from something with five sets of teeth that was faster than it had any right to be, or maybe it popped up in front of him and he was through before he could change course. He doesn’t have more hope of getting home in this scenario, exactly, but he’d be more hopeful, because this obviously isn’t the same world, it can’t be, so he can get back and get home and it’ll all be fine.
In both cases, you can ignore the language barrier--write it off as a ghostly ability Danny didn’t realize he had, though that logic fails a bit when Tucker understands Wulf the best, or maybe Danny hearing it for years while in the thermos and just sort of absorbing it--through osmosis, if you like. But if you acknowledge it. If you accept the fact that Danny suddenly finds himself in a world where he can’t speak the language, can’t read or understand or even be sure he recognizes the language--because what is that, Chinese, Japanese, Korean? He has no idea. It might not even be any of those if it’s been how many years since, what with evolution of language. He just knows he doesn’t know the alphabet at all--then you can easily force other characters to interact with him once he gets in trouble (as will happen; it’s Danny) and maybe bring in a convenient universal translator hero support prototype, initially designed to help heroes better communicate with victims who don’t speak the same tongue(s) with plans for further development outside of heroing if it’s successful. Such a device would also give Danny a convenient excuse for when he says something that receives blank stares, as he can pretend it glitched.
Now. Danny will be trying to get home. That might be his entire thing--that and potentially acceptance that he can’t go home, depending on how things pan out. If he came through a portal/doorway, then he might be keeping an ear to the ground to find out why if there’s some reason why he’s here, but if he was just stuck in a thermos, he’s going to assume he got out because of pure dumb luck/erosion and focus most of his energy on finding a way into the Ghost Zone, which may or may not come back to bite him later. Especially if he didn’t just get out by chance or is here for a reason and doesn’t know enough to understand what that reason is.
The obvious thing to consider is how quickly Danny realizes these guys only have one ‘quirk’, even if they can use it in multiple ways. If he gets any inkling at all from them that having more than one quirk is odd and potentially suspicious, you can bet he’d try to hide it. He’s used to that. He’s had to hide from so many people. He can hide from these people, too. Or at least try his best. Me and my penchant for misunderstandings would obviously choose to have him hide his multiple abilities and not just, y’know, tell or show them straight away.
I mean.
Say they saw Phantom before they ever saw Fenton. Flying. Phasing. Shooting ectoblasts. That’s not normal.
And if Danny saw something happen and jumped in to help without entirely understanding the situation? He might try to take down both heroes and bad guys because geez, those people almost got crushed when that building fell, and another bystander nearly got flambéed, and he knows he’s destructive when he’s trying to save people, but still. Giant Lady is a pretty good distraction if you need a distraction, and she could get away from the good guys fast enough, and that guy just walked through a brick wall, so there’s a good chance he’s overshadowed even if Danny’s too far away for his ghost sense to go off, and--
Point is, they (some) might mistakenly peg Phantom as a villain, at least until the next fight where they have time to talk. Danny, who very definitely Not Going Ghost until he figures out what the heck is going on, is found in the aftermath and assumed to be a victim--a tourist, probably, since they can’t understand him and he can’t understand them--and probably picks an ability to call a ‘quirk’ even if pretending to be quirkless would be smarter because he’s not convinced he might not do something almost on instinct, and then where would that get him?
Danny does not overhear the speculation that perhaps this Phantom is after him. He does not overhear the concern of the UA students who witnessed the fight. He does not know how many strings were pulled to get him released from the hospital--where he Very Obviously does Not want to be, but he can write off weird abnormalities as, say, part of his Ice Quirk powers; after all, sneaking away probably won’t do him any favours, even if he has to get out of there before they realize exactly how fast he’s healing--or how difficult it was to get him released into the protective custody of the good people at UA (or, more specifically, those who rallied for him to get the opportunity). Because he’s wary and spooked and confused but still ready to fight, and they can see that, and they want to help him. They’re not even sure how much training he’s had with his quirk, since even after extensive questioning and a subsequent exhaustive search, they can’t find any record of a hero named Frostbite.
They can’t even find a record of Daniel Fenton. Not someone with an Ice Quirk who matches his description, anyway.
Which makes some people wary, even when others are eagerly including him, because what if he’s a plant, a spy, otherwise not on their side even if he’s not working with any known villains, and--
Hogwash. Poppycock. Pick your old-fashioned word for it, but that’s pretty much how your thinking is going, someone else would say. Because the kid’s got a good heart, and anyone can see that. He wants to help people. He does, even when it hurts him. He’s got the heart of a hero.
With what they’ve seen of him, it’s enough to quiet the mutterings.
Until the day Danny forgets himself and displays another Quirk in a way that can’t be explained, especially in light of all the other incidents that were.

Hello! I've seen your wonderful crab posts and figured you'd be one of the best people to go to. I've been put in a weird situation. My roommates got me a hermit crab. I'm aware that they require a lot of care; however, he is currently living in the fish bowl that they provided me with with a sponge, some shells, a little plastic house, and generic crab food. What is the most immediate way I can provide him with good housing/food/stimulation until I can save up for something better?
Ooof, that’s a rough situation, I’m sorry! :/ But I’m glad you’re aware of their care needs and want to improve things for your new crab!
Okay so housing first thing. Plastic totes are your friend! They’re cheap, easy to get, and will work great for a temp enclosure for a few months. If you can, get one that’s at least around the size of a 10g tank, but a bit bigger will be better & easier to set up - think 20-40g size. Make sure you get a lid with it, as you’ll want that to help hold in humidity for your new friend.
On the plus side, substrate is pretty cheap for these guys! Play sand is the bulk of it, and usually you can get a 50lb bag of that for $3-8 at a hardware or home improvement store (Lowe’s, Ace, Home Depot, etc.). Depending on the tote size you get, you’ll need at least one, maybe two bags. Make sure you buy it from inside the store if at all possible - outside sand is more likely to end up with mold or fungus spores in it. If you can, get a brick of Eco Earth to mix in with the sand. You’ll want to add water to expand it, let it dry out for a little bit, then mix it in. The loose stuff in the bag works fine too, if you’d prefer, and doesn’t need water added to it. You want around 6″ of substrate, at least, so your crab has plenty of room to dig.
Enclosure decor - This can be pretty cheap & easy! You can use some tupperware containers for water pools - they should be deep enough for your crab to submerge in completely. Make sure they have a way to climb in & out though. Plastic cross stitch canvas is really good for this & costs like 25 cents a sheet. I prefer to double up the bowls - this way you can leave the bottom one in place (in case crab is buried around it) and just take the top one out to change the water.
Hides and climbing stuff can be a lot of things. Coconut hides, tupperware with holes cut in them, ceramic plant pots, etc. Climbing stuff can be  cross stitch canvas, coconut mats, fake plants, wood, etc. http://www.hermitcrabassociation.com/ if you check out the Crabitat Conditions, DIY, and Pictures sections on there, you should be able to get some good ideas for these things! Just be careful as some things are more prone to becoming moldy, like hay/straw, twine, some types of wood, & such.
You can get cheaper fake plants from dollar stores & craft stores, just be careful that they don’t have glitter, small plastic pieces (like berries) that will come off, not painted, and the dye doesn’t leak when you clean them before putting in.
Heat & humidity - Make sure the tote is closed up & that will help keep heat & humidity in. Larger water bowls will help add humidity, and so will bowls or piles of sphagnum moss (which you can spray carefully, don’t spray the rest of the enclosure so as to avoid flooding substrate). You can add air stones/bubblers to the pools to help boost humidity as well, but the equipment for that stuff can cost a bit more unless you find it secondhand. Small fish filters can work too, but in both cases, you want to be careful that water isn’t splashing out of the bowls a lot, which is a flooding risk.
For heating, you’re really better off spending the money on something better right now. Pet store heating pads aren’t great, IMO, and most of them are meant to be stuck on & not taken off (which can break wires & turn into a fire hazard). http://www.reptilebasics.com/ultratherm-heat-pads are the best heating mats IMO, and can be attached to the back of the tote with tape (I use packing tape) and then taken off to be used on another tank. They can also be safely insulated with cardboard or styrofoam to help increase temps. It’s best to use them with a thermostat, especially if your room temps vary a lot. But tbh, I don’t have mine on thermostats as crabs do okay with some temp fluctuation within the proper ranges (as opposed to other animals that need stricter temps to avoid overheating/injuries). Put the heating mat on the back of the tote, above the substrate line (or as much above as you can).
For measuring temp/humidity, these are my favorite gauges currently - https://www.amazon.com/AcuRite-Humidity-Thermometer-Hygrometer-Indicator/dp/B0013BKDO8/ It’s best to have it hanging from the lid or at least set in an empty bowl or something to keep it off the substrate (which can alter numbers).
Food & water - Crabs need both fresh & salt water. Both need to be treated for ammonia & heavy metals. Prime is what most people use & that little bottle will last you ages since the dosage is only 2 drops per gallon (or for less than a gallon). For the salt water, you want to get Instant Ocean salt, not the stuff sold for hermit crabs (which isn’t complete). Same thing, that box will last you a while! Word of advice, it’s worth splitting it up into single use baggies/containers when you open it, as moisture gets in immediately & turns it into a big brick pretty fast. The amount for that is ½ cup for a gallon, you can make a gallon at a time & then dose it with the Prime when you put it into the tank.
For food….Toss out the commercial stuff. You can often feed them bits of stuff you eat, with no spices/additives. Fresh/frozen fruits & veggies, raw or cooked meat (shellfish must be cooked though), stuff like that is good for them. The HCA forum I linked above has safe & unsafe food lists. I also like the Facebook group Land Hermit Crab Owners Society, and they have safe/unsafe food lists in their files as well, if you join.
Since they eat so little & fresh foods go moldy fast in the humid heat of the enclosure, a lot of people feed dry foods, which can be left in for a week. There’s all kinds of things you can get from the pet store & grocery store, so I have a post about what you can get & where here - http://fantasticbeastsandhowtokeepthem.tumblr.com/post/163525780954/hermit-crab-food-shopping There’s also a post linked on that one to my nutrition post, which explains more about what they need in their diet!
Also uhhhh if this isn’t too weird, feel free to message me off anon & I can send you some food stuff if you want! I hoard crab food & have a lot of some things because I buy in larger packages (like the supplement type stuff, worm castings, green sand, etc.). I’m sending out a food package to someone else soon as well. I can’t give food to everyone (unfortunately), but I would like to help where I can! But no worries if you’re not comfortable with that!
And lastly, shells. Here’s a good post about types of shells & where to get shells - http://fantasticbeastsandhowtokeepthem.tumblr.com/post/135316962746/hermit-crab-shell-guide-on-shell-types-and-buying I will say that I would highly recommend going to Joann Fabrics if you have one around you, or other craft stores. You can often find cheaper usable shells there. Joann has this awesome green shell pack that has tons of green turbo shells that I’ve bought at least 5-6 of. If your crab is the right size, that could be perfect! Other than that, I really like Naples best for making sure you get the sizes you want.
I think that’s about it, just a couple other things I wanted to mention.
First, once you have things set up for your little one, it’d be a good idea to get them a friend. Crabs are social & live in large colonies in the wild, so it’s really recommended to have at least two. If you don’t want to get another one from the pet store, check Craigslist, or else check out the LHCOS adoption program - http://lhcos.org/adoption-program-beta/
Second, if you’re really not sure you’re able to take all of this on, that’s okay! If you’d rather see if someone who already has things set up can take your crabby, you can check the above link for someone in your area, & submit a form to place your crab for adoption.
I hope all of this helps and isn’t too overwhelming! Please feel free to ask if you have any more questions or if anything is confusing. The LHCOS Facebook group is really helpful as well, especially for new owners! Good luck!

So the Direct in Review:
Overwatch for Switch: meh. Nobody really asked for this.
Luigi's Mansion 3: I'm honestly excited for this one. Let's the hope the individual floors aren't just tiny boxes. I'm definitely looking forward to the pirate ship level. I do hope I have some cash around Halloween
Super Kirby Clash: it's alright I guess. Seems weird to have 4 Kirbys and not Dedede or Meta Knight but whatever
Trials of Mana HD: I kind of want it, but I never played the others.
Return of Obra Dinn: eh. It's been out on PC a while I think.
Little Town Hero: ima be real, I'm a bit sour at this game because they definitely took time away from SwSh to work on this, and it definitely shows because it does look good. More info is needed tho. Tobyfox was just hanging out with Nintendo I guess
Banjo in Smash: don't have smash, but I do love Sakurai's laid back approach to explaining Banjo and Spiral Mountain. Tobyfox kicking Sakurai's ass in Smash is hilarious to me. Now if only Microsoft showed as much love to Banjo as Sakurai did. Hmmmmm.
Terry in Smash: okay? Funny trailer, but I don't really care much. Maybe they'll add girl Terry for another skin for shits n giggles.
More Smash DLC: Byleth is definitely coming at some point, as is a pokemon character or Little Town Hero character. Gotta get that promotion in babey.
Link's Awakening: cute
DQXIS: y'all can't do this to me I ALREADY BEAT THE GAME ON THE PS4! You can't just add new story and essentially an entirely 2d remake of the game on a new system! My wallet hates you. Maybe they'll actually add the reorchestrated music this time around.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions:#FE: I do want this. I've very much been wanting this. I just haven't gotten it yet because I knew it'd be ported to Switch with more shit in it AND I WAS RIGHT. Also "See-ah-da"??? I thought it was "ky-ay-da"?
Deadly Premonition 1 port: neat
DP 2: I was JUST talking to my friends about a New Orleans trip around Halloween. Like WTF. Kinda neato but hopefully they can escape the uncanny valley from the first
Divinity, Original Sin 2 Def Edition: eh... ok?
Doom 64: someone needs to tell mister Beth Esda to shorten his speel. Just say Doom 64 for Switch, BAM, move on. Your speech ain't that important and neither are your weird hand movements
Rogue Company: as much as I like the idea of customization, its literally the same as Fortnite or any other fps released in the past 10 years.
Pokemon SwSh: I've got sour feelings at Game Freak and The Pokemon Company International for the mistreatment of their franchise, but I do like Camp and Cramaran, plus whatever that weird fish is. I am delighted to see customization improvements, and there's definitely enhanced animations: but not for for the pokemon. The player looks lively af, but the pokemon still rotate so stiffly. The currydex is... interesting. It does look delicious anyway but I would prefer if they just kept the simple Refresh feature from SM. Decent overall, but they need to show more improvement by next month to change my mind. Also... Polteageist... no. I do not want to drink your bodily fluids.
SNES ports with Rewind functionality: decent idea. Where's Earthbound?
Tetris 99: booooringggg
Mario & Sonic: okay look, when they first started this for the Wii, pretty much all fans agreed this wasn't the crossover we wanted. So why are we still doing this? Why not an actual cross over game with Adventure 2 and Odyssey gameplay to keep things simple? At the least, the 2d stuff is original.
Daemon X Machina: actually looks fun. I really want it.
Jedi Knight 2: so weird, but cool.
The Witcher 3: nothing new but impressive, moving on.
Ass Cred Rebel: Ass Flag and Rogue Ass: decent. I wonder if Freedom Cry will be included? 4 is definitely the best
Dauntless: interesting, if only it weren't just online.
Just Dance: look, another party game for friends I don't have.
GRID Autosport: meh
Farming Simulator 20: we're still doing this eh?
Ni no kuni: Wrath of the White Witch: shit yes, I actually want this.
NBA 2k20: boring just like every other crappy ea sport game, next
Call of Cthulu: interesting I guess. I wonder if this will have Labo VR or 3d rumble compatibility?
The Outer Worlds: neat
Devil May Cry 2: okay, I know there's probably a reason, but why is Nintendo glossing over 1's in favor of their sequels? I guess I get it if the first ones were bad but still. Neato tho.
Vampyr: this was kind of underwhelming to the point that I don't remember it at all
AC New Horizons: oh to be an AC fan. I wish I could get into these games. They look so appealing from the outside. I just don't handle non combat games that well. But hey, I know plenty of friends that will love this.
Xenoblade Chronicles def Edition: also another one I knew was coming eventually. Hopefully they include Japanese audio.
A thank you to @nickshutter for his guide to sort of help me remember these
Out of all of these, Luigi's Mansion 3, Ni no kuni, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, Daemon X Machina, and Xenoblade Chronicles interest me the most.
I'm finding Pokemon is TRYING to grab at me, but I'm still not even 70% sold on it and they have to announce some changes or proper information on Home before I change my mind.
Incidentally, Missing from this list but also coming to the Switch in a month or so: Digimon Cyber Sleuth 1 AND 2. Really good, check em out.
Also missing: Metroid, FE 3 Houses Expansion Pass info, BoTW 2, and a rumored Mario Odyssey thing I heard a vague rumor about.
Decent direct overall.

I've been so mentally exhausted lately - this is where living "the dream" is both a blessing and a curse. So I'd been working on my feature film, 69 B (not the real title) since 2016, and over the years I've gotten in a fellowship, won pitch competition, and received grants for it - so this year I have the opportunity shoot the short film version of it. I got my team together and really committed since August. I shot the crowdfund video the day before I left NYC, ran the crowdfund for 30 days, and have been in pre-production ever since. We're set to film early Dec. and then straight to post production with a required public presentation for the film by next June
Everyday there's emails, casting, posting/hiring crew, and every time I check something off, in comes another and another. This shoot is even more intricate than when I shot my series - plus I'm the director this time and it's my 1st time so I'm coming in with a shotlist that I also need to work with my DP on, and study ones that my other director peers shared with me...it's a lot. And I'm finishing up a moodboard with each location and characters to send to our prop designer. If no one's done this before...it take a long fucking time to find the "right" photos and adding that this is an all Asian (American) cast set in the 80's, I have to dig a little further. When you google anything without "Asian", you'll just get a blanket search of all White people. These are the added layers of time consumption that's not talked about in how White domination is everywhere.
ANYWAYS - on top of this I still am working on new writing and that's been on the back burner sorta. I sent thorough-ish 8 logline/story ideas to my managers and they vetoed all of them except one about K-pop. But when I huddled up with them they said because BTS exploded a few years ago there's other K-pop series ideas roaming around so to do another original idea...except they vetoed everything. It's part of the business while at the same time I spent mad time coming up with the ideas while ALSO trying to have a balanced life with dating and seeing friends.
I've been knocking out around 9-10pm every night lately and I find myself laying down mid day in between meetings. Today I took some time to chill and watch a Xmas movie, it was really nice. Of course I still did work throughout. I was sitting around with my roommate's dog tonight and was nodding off. I'm still "learning" to give myself a break and leave room to do "nothing" - whatever that nothing will be. Right now I'm taking the time to mind dump here and earlier I took our dog out for a walk. I think in this capitalist society and "superman woman" mentality is very strong, it's "hard" to retrain our brain to simply chill. I've noticed that with other people too.
Meanwhile at the end of all this...I'm grateful to have these issues. I've worked to bring a version of this film to life since 2016 so it's kinda wild that it's coming true. And frankly - it's pretty much a miracle that I still have and am making a life outside of my projects like holy shit! In the past that was always the first thing to go, and even now in the mornings I make sure to. ground myself with exercise, breakfast, an episode of Desus & Mero, shower, and meditation/tarot card reading. I haven't really figured out a night routine yet to ground myself to sleep...but sometimes pretty similar with the tarot reading and now I light a sage candle to cleanse the energy and know it's time to sleep soon.

Author Spotlight Presents: Nicole Guidry and her debut novel, “Not Quite Broken”
Tumblr media
On March 8, 2018, Nicole Guidry got a surprise.  Her debut novel, “Not Quite Broken”, was released a day early by Amazon.  The story of a Layla, young woman starting over in a new town with a new career after a family tragedy has already won the hearts of readers and received consistent Five Star Reviews.  A few days ago, I had the opportunity to ask her some intimate questions about her debut novel and her writing process.
Q: What was your inspiration for “Not Quite Broken”?
A:  When I decided to write a book, I knew I wanted to write what I know. My life has evolved because of this one event in my life and that's my mom's death. I knew that if I wrote a book, I wanted to write someone who had been through something similar, but not exactly the same. When I began to plan it, I thought “What if I wrote a story about a woman who lost her entire family?” and kind of went from there. I knew I wanted to talk about grief and showcase how different it is for everyone, and that's why I had Colt experience loss as well. They both dealt with it differently, and I think that's beautiful. I wanted to show that love, more than anything, is healing and possible after you feel like you can't go on anymore. Because I experienced that and I felt that.
Q:  Have you always wanted to be a writer, or is it something you realized you wanted to do later in life?
I've had a love for books ever since I can remember that stems from my mother's love for books. I remember the first time I saw Pride & Prejudice (the one with Keira Knightley), I wanted to devour every romance novel and movie I could get my hands on. That's still my absolute favorite movie and I watch it every year on my mom's birthday and the anniversary of her death. It was her favorite movie, too.
Q:  Do you share any of the characteristics of your protagonist, Layla?
It's kind of scary how similar Layla and I are. As I was writing her, I fleshed her character out and realized we shared a lot of characteristics. Our humor is probably the most similar, and our work ethic. Also, her avoidance technique when she's trying to figure things out? That has me all over it.
Q:  “Not Quite Broken” has some memorable supporting characters. Besides Layla and Colt, who did you like writing best?
I really enjoyed writing Megan. She's named after a very close friend of mine and her tenacious spirit and sense of knowing made me so happy to write anytime I was writing her. She's someone who struggles with things, but always puts other people first. That's my friend to a T, and I loved writing her.
Q;   Although “Not Quite Broken” is a romance novel, there's a great theme of “family by choice” throughout the book, do you have a community of people in your life like that?”
I do. When I experienced a loss like Layla's but not as tragic (my mom passed away from brain cancer when I was 19), the remaining members of my immediate family grieved in different ways and we lost touch. I found my, as you put it, family by choice through my fiancé.
Q:  While you were writing, were there moments that surprised you during the process?
So many moments. I wasn’t expecting it to be as challenging as it was to start or to change my prologue as many times as I did. And describing things? I never knew that could be so difficult. When I was writing the description for Colt's bar, my fiancé and I were pulling our hair out because I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to word it. It was extremely difficult for me to put the pictures in my head on paper. Layla and I also share out lack of artistic creativity.
Q:  What was the most challenging part of writing “Not Quite Broken”?
Is it weird if I say finding a place to write? I don't have a desk or anything, and often times I'd be lying in bed and trying to write while I have two dogs demanding my attention. As for the actual writing part, I'd have to say the parts when I had to write about grief. It's a tricky emotion to write and make sure the emotions are portrayed like I want them to be.
Q:  Are you a planner or a panster when it comes to your writing process?
I am a panster, one hundred percent. I have an actual notebook with all my crazy ideas written down, as well as a white board filled with ideas. None of it was planned, and some of my best ideas for the story came while I was writing. My favorite unplanned scene was definitely the moment Colt and Layla shared in the kitchen with the water spray. I think life is unplanned, and if I plan things too much, I was afraid it'd take away from the story. That being said, I want to plan my next book much better than this one. It was a nightmare. I deleted the entire second half of the book when I was originally finished. There's still a word document with 80,000 words just sitting in my saved files, glaring at me.
Q:  Did you listen to music during the writing process?
I did at the beginning, mostly during the planning stage and the first few chapters, but I'm someone who can't listen to music without singing along. I can't tell you how many times I wrote lyrics instead of what I meant to write.
Q:  If you were to pick out a theme song for “Not Quite Broken”, what would it be?
If I had to pick a theme song, I'd probably say ”Grateful” by Rita Ora. It's a beautiful song with a beautiful meaning that helped me, and I think would help Layla and give people more of an insight to her feelings for Colt.
Q:  “Not Quite Broken” leaves some unresolved issues and hints at a possible sequel. Are you planning to explore more about Layla and the lives of her friends?
Unresolved issues? Where? ;) Yes. I wouldn't necessarily call it a “sequel”, but there will be another story in Layla's world, but not necessarily revolving around Layla and Colt. I hinted quite a bit at Joan and Aaron's past, and that's the next story I'm planning to tell.
Q:  Who are some of your favorite authors?
If you look at my Twitter page (@OlicityBex), it's glaringly obvious Mariana Zapata owns a piece of my soul. Her slow burn romances are absolute perfection and I could only hope to be half as good of a write as she is. Penny Reid is another author I love.
Q:  Are you planning to do an audio version of your book?
It's not something I've looked into, but maybe? If the demand asks for it, I wouldn't be against it. Right now, I'm just trying to get the eBook and Paperback out there. But an audiobook would be amazing.
Tumblr media
Q:  How do you feel about the reception your book has received so far?
I don't know if words could encompass how I feel about how my book has done. It's exceeded my wildest dreams. While it's not a bestseller or anything, it's my debut novel and I couldn't have asked for the excitement I've gotten from people reading it. Family, friends, strangers... So much support has been thrown my way in the most surprising of places and I could never express my gratitude with words. I'm chasing my dream, and every time someone sends me a picture of them receiving my book or they tell me what Colt and Layla's story meant to them, I find myself close to tears. It'll never get old.
“Not Quite Broken” is available now on Amazon.
